Dear Tsem Rinpoche May I ask you a question on this quote please? “If you are thinking of quitting Dharma work, why not reconsider and quit samsara instead. Which one REALLY brought you your problems in the first place. Think carefully.~Tsem Rinpoche” Is there any difference and how is it if one is doing a secular job with mindfulness and awareness compared to actually doing or working in a Dharma centre/dharma work with mindfulness and awareness? Please kindly advise. I am currently working in a secular environment for almost 3years now. i try to work with mindfulness and awareness. at the same time, since Aug last year after i returned from my pilgrimate to Tibet, i can’t help but have been having restless feelings and strong feeling that i do not want to waste my precious human life working…i have this longing to live in a monastic environment or do a long retreat my work is not that meaningful though the work environment, bosses and colleagues are fine. And i do want to be sure i am not having these longing at a spur of a moment and so i just continue to work and continue to be mindful and checking my feelings… it still comes up very often…..and if i do go and live in a monastic place or do a long retreat, i will have to quit my job and i am fine with quitting…i am concerned what will happen to my pet cat as he is an old man now and i cannot just abandon him right? .. and lately, i am also feeling tired and having headache going to work… and i kept trying to motivate myself with the thoughts of appreciation and gratitude that i have a good stable work to help support my livelihood which is important cos i live alone..and i still have to pay for my hdb loan and electricity , food, travelling, expenses and i also have my pet cat to take care of…i am blessed that i still have the chance to do my regular practice and help out as a volunteer for some Dharma tasks now and then but somehow, i still find it is not enough … all these thoughts are going on in my mind.. Rinpoche, i really hope to receive your advice on this … Thank you for your time. With metta, lizzie woon. Singapore
