Dear friends who are into various mysteries around the world,
The video above mentions 7 different lakes around the world which reportedly have sea creatures inhabiting them. Imagine looking at a calm lake knowing that there’s a whole different world down below the still surface…
It’s a human habit to think that we know everything… but do we really??
Here is more information about each of the 7 lakes… where the lakes are, what lives in the deep, dark waters etc… Do take a look… it’s very interesting. I have posted some information and videos for you to ponder, watch and enjoy. I have always enjoyed this subject since very young.
I personally like this blog post very much. I love mysteries such as lake monsters, ufo’s, bigfoots, etc….
Take a look, some of the footage is very startling and will make you re-think your previous conclusions…

1. Loch Ness (Scotland)
The Loch Ness is probably one of the most famous lakes in the world. It is located in the Scottish Highlands (in Scotland), with the lake’s surface at 15.8m above sea-level. The deepest point of the Loch Ness is about 230m deep, and the lake is mostly fresh water.
Loch Ness is a tectonic lake which resulted from tremors that opened up a crack in the Earth’s crust about 500 million years ago! During the Ice Age, about 10,000-12,000 years ago, this lake was covered with 4,000 feet of ice, and now it’s a beautiful lake where thousands of tourists visit every year for one main reason…
Loch Ness has been made famous by the legendary water creature, affectionately known as Nessie aka the “Loch Ness Monster”.
Nessie was apparently spotted for the first time on 2nd of May 1933 by Alex Campbell. Since then, many people have seen the reportedly 14m long creature. There have been many expeditions carried out to find Nessie, such as the Sir Edward Mountain Expedition, Loch Ness Phenomena Investigation Bureau, Robert Rines studies etc etc… so far, researchers and scientists have found an unidentifiable large moving object which moves at around 19km/h and with underwater echoes as great as a 3m pilot whale. The moving object would quickly move out of sonar range and then disappear…

2. Lake Champlain (United States)
Lake Champlain is a natural, fresh water lake that is located in the states of Vermont and New York, America. This lake’s surface area is about 1,269 km sq. and has a maximum depth of 120m.
The lake has the oldest living reef, where the coral dates back to the Ordovician Period… about 480 million years ago! There are also many old fossils that have been found here, dating back to the Paleozoic Era… more than 300 million years ago. Vermont once being completely covered in water, the changing landscape of the Earth saw the last glacier melting about 12,500 years ago, and the Champlain Valley rising about 10,000 years ago.
Many of the animals that once inhabited the inland sea are now in the North Atlantic and vice versa. Who knows, maybe an undiscovered underwater creature that once swum in the abyss of the North Atlantic, is now trapped in Lake Champlain…
“Champ” is what the people call the 15ft long sea creature. There are records of echolocation in Lake Champlain. Echolocation is the biological sonar used by several animals… these are signals that whales and dolphins are known to use – there are no whales and dolphins in Lake Champlain, so what’s producing the echolocation…?

3. Lake Van (Turkey)
Lake Van is the largest lake in Turkey. Unlike Lake Champlain and Loch Ness which are freshwater lakes, this lake is a saline and soda lake. It receives water from small streams in the surrounding mountains but due to an ancient volcanic eruption, it is now essentially “trapped” and has no outlet.
Lake Van has a surface area of 3,755 km sq. and lies at about 1,640m above sea level. Its maximum depth is approx. 150m deep, and because of the strong alkalinity (pH9.7-9.8), not many living beings inhabit Lake Van. There is only one type of fish known to live in the lake, along with different types of plankton.
There have been 1,000 over people claiming to have seen a large creature in Lake Van, called the Lake Van Monster. The very first sighting was in 1995, and eye witnesses claim that it’s around 15m in length with humps along its back…

4. Lake Okanagan (Canada)
Before the Loch Ness monster came to the public’s attention, there was Ogopogo.
Ogopogo is the resident water creature in Lake Okanagan, in Canada. The lake has a surface area of 351 km² and is located in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. The lake waters lead to the Columbia River basin, which made it ideal for many to transport both people and goods in the past.
With a maximum depth of 232m, the lake is home to many different types of fish… and a serpent-like creature named the Ogopogo.
It is reported that the Ogopogo, is about 1-2 feet in diameter and 15-20 feet in length.
In 1914, a group of Indians of the Nicola Valley and Westbank found a 5-feet long and 400 pound blue-grey creature. They believe in the existence of a mammalian creature calling it N’ha-a-tik, Chinook or great-beast-on-the-lake.
Footprints have even been found by a researcher named Dr Mackal… some of the footprints had three toes and some with eight!

5. Lake Memphremagog (United States/Canada)
Lake Memphremagog is a lake that is located between Vermont (United States) and Quebec (Canada). It has a surface area of 1,779km sq. and is about 351m deep. There are 20 islands and over the years, efforts have been made to reduce lake pollution to improve the water quality. After all the testing, the reasons behind the excessive nitrogen and phosphorus are still unknown.
Since 1816, there have been many sightings of a ‘sea serpent’ named Memphre. The local Indians, who inhabited the land surrounding the lake, warned the first white settlers not to swim in the lake citing a sea serpent.
There are many references to Memphre in ancient Indian legends, fables, poems and songs… referring to it as a ‘dark monster’.
They saw a monster dark and grim
Coming with coiling surge and swim,
With lifted head and tusk and horn,
Fierce as the spirit in Hades born.
(Bullock, 1926 p. 71)
This is a good video on the existence of Memphre. It has eye-witnesses accounts, and although the documentary is in French (as it was produced in Quebec) do watch it anyways as it’s very interesting…

6. Lake Nahuel Huapi (Argentina)
Nahuel Huapi Lake is located at the foot of the Patagonian mountains in Argentina. With a surface of 646 km2 and maximum depth of 438m, this lake’s depression was carved out along fault lines and consists of several glacial valleys.
Nahuel Huapi is connected to many other lakes and holds a number of islands. The waters are home to many different types of fishes, and although the lake’s surface is 770m above sea level and far from the ocean, it is home to some strictly marine birds, such as the Kelp Gull and Blue Eyed Cormorant.
The local aborigines believe in a legendary creature called the Nahuelito. It is estimated that the creature is 15 to 150 feet in length and many people have sighted the giant water snake-like creature with humps and fish-like fins, or a creature with a swan-like neck and a snake’s head.
The Patagonian Indians have long believed in a huge creature that dwells in the lake; however, the majority of the public have only known about the creature since the early 1920s.
This video shows how big and beautiful Lake Nahuel Huapi is…

7. Lake Seljordsvatnet (Norway)
In Norway, lives Selma the resident lake monster in Lake Seljordsvatnet.
Lake Seljordsvatnet is located in Telmark and is a 12 mile long and 15 mile wide lake with icy, cold waters. It was formed by melted glaciers during the last Ice Age and is currently in between mountains that reach a height of 1,500m. The maximum depth of the lake is about 138m deep.
Selma was first spotted in 1750, where a large reptilian creature was reported to be circulating the region. There have only been 500 eyewitness reports of the apparent 30-45 foot serpent-like creature. Some have said that it has humps on its back, with black skin and a crocodile-like head.
The latest sighting was in 2001, where a father and son from Oslo came face-to-face with Selma whilst they were on the beach.

Let me know below in the comments which ONE YOU LIKED THE BEST OR WHICH ONE YOU FOUND CONVINCING. Do you believe in these creatures? Do you believe the scientific community will deny them or why would they? What is your theory why the scientific community will deny their existence after hundreds of thousands of eye-witnesses over centuries. In a court of law, a sentence may be passed because of eye-witness testimony. So why would the eye witnesses of sound standing not be believed in this case???
Let me know what you think and your conclusions please. I am interested to know.

Looking at those pictures and videos tell a thousand words. What is underneath those lakes mentioned , cannot be taken too lightly. Well-known lake monsters such as
Loch Ness , Champ, Ogopogo and so forth has been sighted in those lakes around the world. Stories of a sea monster lurking in the depths of lakes are actually centuries old. To believe or not its up to individual. The unexplored darkness of lakes serve as one of the gateways for these fascinations. Many had claimed witnessing those creatures but with no hard evidence. People love to fill in mysterious areas of nature with myths of monsters. Sightings of such lakes creatures is interesting to many. I do believe there are such sea creatures inhabiting in those lakes centuries ago. Some of those creature’s names indeed new to me. Interesting to know that they do exist after all.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this interesting article.
Interesting not only one but a few different lakes around the world has reportedly having mysteries sea creatures inhabiting them. I have always have interest in the Loch Ness Monster , having read about it a long time ago. Surprised to know about other creatures which some of them I have not heard of the names too. Sea creatures like Ogopogo, Lake Van Monster, sea serpent named Memphre and so forth are new to me. Nobody has yet proved that all those sea creatures are real but will not stopped them in trying to take photos or to prove them do exist. Many pictures claiming to show them but have been exposed as fakes. There are no hard evidence so far yet I do believed sea creatures do exist century back but maybe not now due to the climate and environment change . Among the 7 sea creatures which I liked and to be more convincing is the Loch Ness in Scotland with photo taken in 2005 by Einar Johannes Sadnes.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing at least I learned little knowledge .
I am a big fans of all these mysterious creatures hehe…. I believe these creatures do exist and it has been around for many many years. I hope they don’t appear too often because human will try to hunt them. Just let them live in peace and unharmed.
Dear Rinpoche, all the videos in this article are very interesting (except for the 8th video because its in french so I couldn’t understand but still it is still very interesting). I am also very interested in seeing them with my own eyes, looking at these living fossils that should be died for millions of years Wow! And i wish that they won’t extinct in the future.
My favourite is of course, the classical, LOCH NESS MONSTER! I do believe in it. I believe that the scientific community will eventually come to terms and accept it. Why? This is because there is compelling evidence and there is little skeptics can do to mask the truth. The reason why scientist do not use the “Eye Witnesses” is because that people have the tendency to make mistakes or lie. Even in court, people lie. Also, people may lie as they believe it is nothing major.
wow this is so exiting to know abut all these myths and legends… but who knows there can be something there. honestly i believe that this is true and what we know is not even a speck in the wide universe, galaxies and more, we could even be in a marble from a giant creatures room!
Thanks so much for posting all the mysteries, Your Eminence Tsem Rinpoche!
me too luv mysteries, have enjoyed reading and view them, TQ!!!
ghostly apparition of entire city – China
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2008161/Ghostly-mirage-appears-river-Huanshan-City-China.html
Dinounsores, or ‘monsters’ is a proof of the Biblcal Flood of Noah’s time, Evolusionists, don’t like to admit that there was a flood, therefore they control the science world of thinking and is always busy dening this point.
Even ‘living proof’ would be make of as a natures default a freak of nature.
I agree religions should lead to peace, but who controls all religions world wide? Ever though of that? Would you believe it if you’re told?
All religions have one thing in common, it keeps the inner beeing busy with, sacred things instead of living out your practical call of living to a predestiand standard of loving, forgiving and redemtion.
Sea Monsters and sea serpent are usually bed time stories for children. I used to hear these when I was young and would dream to see them in real at least once in my life.
I make a quick summary of the 7 accounts of sea monsters posted above:
1) Lock Ness (scotland)
Many older footages of eye witnesses giving their accounts of sightings, scientists giving their theories and national geographic scientists engaging into complex equipments with the attempt to capture a glimpse of this sea monster. Some good evidence in video, pic and even a recording of the raoming sound in the lake.
2) Lake Champlain
Over 100 sightings but there is a good account by the lady who went picnicking with her family by the lake. She gave a clear account of the sighting and managed to take a good picture of the creature which has been confimed by specialist that the pic is real and no superimposing of images was done. The picture showed clearly this long neck creature in water.
3) Lake Van (Turkey)
Have 2 actual and clear footages. Pretty convincing.
4) Lake Okangan (Canada)
There is a division in opinions in whether the sea monster is just a legendary story or it is real. There are some good accounts from witnesses but also some inconsistencies in the description of the sea monster. There is this man who he has been living near the lake for 15 years and had never had any sighting whatsoever (perhaps no karma to see it :-))
5) Lake Memphremagog (US/Canada)
5 accounts by eye witnesses with the last one capturing a vey short footage of something long creating a wave disturbance on the surface of water. The video looks real to me however, not much could be seen of the creature.
6) Hahuelito (Argentina)
I find this 46 seconds footage captured by an amarture most convincing. The footage is recently captured and clearly showed the movement of this creature swimming just below the water surface.
7) Lake Seljordsvatnet (Norway)
Just 1 pic of this sea monster taken by the handphone. There is no proof whether this photo is genuine or has been modified.
Seeing is believing, so for those who have eye witnessed these creatures, they are convinced. However, in the modern world, everything is about “proof” , even we have some good pictures, videos or even sound recordings of these sightings, I guess scientists in particular will never be convinced until we catch one alive!
Our human minds are very limited in the sense that we tend to base our beliefs in whatever we have experienced first hand. On the other hand, not seeing them also does not conclude that these creatures do not exist.
For me, I am one who have never seen a real sighting but is a true believer!
Actually I am sure there are creatures living about that we humans do not know about. It is arrogant to think that we have found everything. And just because something is unlikely to exist is not enough reason to dismiss it altogether.
But the reason why eye-witness reports are not use in scientific research is because according to Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson( a very intelligent and funny man) eye-witness reports are the lowest form of evidence use by scientist, because a lot of people are not train enough to really know what it is they are looking at. A lot of scientist tend to look down on the common folk and just assume that they are imaging things.
It is for this reason that most scientist will dismiss these things, unless someone comes up with a body or something like that.
Shame, I think, because we can learn so much about our world if scientist will investigate these things seriously instead of dismissing them so quickly
