Sometimes, we’re thrown into bizarre situations which totally pushes us off the path of regularity.
Would you run and hide… or would you open your mind, seize that rare opportunity right in front of you, and take a picture?
What would you do? Very interesting little articles and pictures to share. I am sure there are plenty of you out there that are interested in so called BIZARRE beings… hehehe
Do enjoy this… I do… Tsem Rinpoche
NESSIE / CHAMP
Perhaps the most famous monster of our time is the Loch Ness monster, or Nessie.
What may be the first sighting of the Loch Ness monster was in 565 AD by the missionary Saint Columba.
It is estimated that about 11,000 people have seen the Loch Ness monster, but most may be too embarrassed or afraid of ridicule to report it.
The most reported sightings of Nessie occurred in the 1930s and still occur to this day. For 15 minutes on October 8, 1936, Nessie showed herself to a group of tour buses and several cars. About 50 people in all saw the beast, a neck with two humps traveling behind it, and many of the observers had telescopes and binoculars. Unfortunately no one had cameras, or cameras loaded with film. Then the creature sank as if it were a stone.
Champ has been sighted for as long as 400 years. Champ is also described as being about 20 feet long (lengths vary) with a serpentine body. He also is reported as having a horse-like head.
The most interesting thing about Champ and Nessie is that they are thought to be dinosaurs that managed to survive. Descriptions of them are similar to a plesiosaur.
CHUPACABRA
The chupacabra is one of those cryptids that proves very frustrating to investigators. One of the biggest frustrations hinges on the creature’s appearance. There are only a few features that stay relatively consistent from one sighting to the next; everything else seems to vary enormously.
Chupacabras have been reported to suck the blood out of livestock, similar to the way a vampire would. Some witnesses report that the chupacabra has chameleon-like abilities or a power resembling shapeshifting that only affects its skin.
Researchers have found sightings as early as 1974, in the folklore by Taino Indians calling it the maboya.
EBU GOGO
These little guys were sighted in Flores, Indonesia, from ancient times to the 19th century. They’re described as small, nasty people with a voracious appetite that sometimes included the devouring of the occasional human baby. The Ebu Gogo were said to walk awkwardly and could be heard murmuring in their own language and were said to be capable of parroting human speech.
Australians and Indonesians found skeletons of a new species of human at an archaeological site. They were believed to live over ten thousand years ago. The skeletons were about a meter tall. These skeletons were thought to possibly be the ebu gogo of Indonesian folklore.
The term “ebu gogo” means grandmother who eats anything.
Legend has it that the ebu gogo and the people lived in peace… for a while. Then, the ebu gogo started killing crops and the humans’ animals. They fled to caves when the humans started killing them. These caves were eventually set on fire after the ebu gogo stole a baby. Some were said to have fled to the Liang Bua caves, which is the cave where the archaeologists found the small skeletons. Scientists working on the Homo floresiensis find have also referred to the Ebu Gogo as “Hobbits”.
The video is a short documentary about the Ebu Gogo presented by Dr Alice Roberts which was aired on BBC in 2009.

SPRINGHEEL JACK
Springheel Jack has been reported in London, New Mexico, Massachusetts, and Argentina, from 1837 to our time.
Springheel Jack is thought to be a tall and thin man, who wears a tightly fitted hat and a black cape. He has large claws and sometimes his eyes are described as glowing a bright red. Jack’s strange appearance and superhuman abilities lead investigator’s to believe he is more then a mere man.
Jack first appeared in September 1837 in London, England, when he attacked three women in the dark of night. Many other attacks took placed after this incident.
Some people link him to Jack the Ripper.
The video below explains a little more about the attacks that took place in London in the 1800’s.

SHADOW PEOPLE
Shadow people are reported worldwide and since the beginning of recorded history. Shadow people seem to be living shadows. They are usually seen out of the corner of people’s eyes. Some people see semi-transparent dark splotches. They vanish as soon as a person realizes what they saw.
The more consistent accounts of shadow people typically describe a feeling of dread associated with the presence of this phenomena, and animals are said to react to the phenomena with fear and hostility.
There have been some reports of being attacked or chased by these shadows. The shadows are usually larger than a normal shadow and do not resemble the person’s silhouette.
BEAST OF BRAY ROAD
This beast was sighted in Wisconsin, USA. It has been sighted since 1936.
It runs on all four limbs, or its hind limbs. It is said to be about six feet tall, built like an athletic man and covered in shaggy hair. It has a wolf-like face with yellow eyes, that glow in the light.
The video is a report on the Bray road beast presented by Sean Hannity and was aired on Fox News some years back.

THE MOTHMAN
This creature has been sighted in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, USA. Sightings have been reported since 1960s.
The moth man is a gray and winged creature with large glowing red eyes located in what would normally be the creature’s upper chest. It is about six feet tall and wider than a man.
The first report was made by five males who were at work in a cemetery. As they were preparing a burial site, they had seen a creature that appeared to be man-like fly over them. Several other sightings were reported later on. Some people even reported their car completely dying, momentarily, when they have sighted the creature.
The mothman has also been linked to UFO sightings and seemingly legitimate claims of “men in black” visits at a newspaper office.
ATMOSPHERIC BEASTS
Atmospheric beasts are reported to have semi-solid bodies and are often invisible. They can fly, but have no visible wings.
One of the most famous atmospheric beasts is the Crawfordsville Monster, sighted in Indiana in 1891, which some researchers classify as a dragon.
For those who believe, atmospheric beasts are very fragile and lightweight creatures who are either native to Earth or are aliens that came from elsewhere. If the latter view is taken, then atmospheric beasts are sometimes thought to have originated in the atmosphere of some other planet, but they can also be thought of as originating in interstellar gas clouds so that they are, in effect, aliens without a native planet, able to “swim” through space. Some believe that the creature will die if they ever touch the ground.
Sometimes atmospheric beasts are reported as UFOs. Sometimes the atmospheric beast is reported to change shape, color, and texture. Some people even report them spitting streams of water at them. Others report that the beasts smell like mildew and feel like a giant soft tongue.
They also seem to resemble animals of the sea, rather than land animals.
MARYLAND GOATMAN
The Maryland Goatman has been seen in Prince Georges County, Maryland, USA. Sightings have continued since the late fifties, right up to present day.
It is reported as having the lower body of a goat and the upper body of a man. He also has the horns of a goat. He’s about 7 feet tall and 300 pounds.
The goatman was first sighted by a couple of lovers who had been making out in their car. The goatman had an axe in his hand, while staring at the couple. He then ran into the woods.
In another report sighting, a woman reported that she had seen the creature in her backyard while her dog was barking urgently. She was too scared to go outside and found that her dog had had it’s head chopped off, when she went outside the next morning.
Strangely, almost the exact same details are presented when people attempt to describe the goatman, if compared to the Greek god, PAN, or the fiesty and wild creatures of Greek lore, called Satyrs.
PONGO
There are legends of this creature in Africa. He is said to have looked like a mix of a man and a monkey. Legend had it that the creature had magical powers and enjoyed the taste of human flesh.
Female pongos turned into gorgeous women in order to get close enough to a man to eat him. Pongos and humans could reproduce hybrid kids who looked like normal humans, but had cannibalistic tendencies.
In 1847, the pongo was amazingly discovered to exist. However, it is now called a gorilla and known to be a vegetarian.
Okay, this animal is obviously no longer a cryptid. However, it shows that reports of cryptids may sometimes be over-exaggerated, and if some are found to exist they may actually turn out to be ordinary.

Interesting as Tsem Rinpoche called it as BIZARRE beings. Well I have not heard of some the names such as chupacabra, Ebu Gogo, Springheel Jack and so forth. Spring-heeled Jack is an entity in English folklore of the Victorian era. Wow ….sound interesting. For decades, Spring-heeled Jack name was equated with the bogeyman. Its as a means of scaring people as some said he was demon who would leap up unnaturally high. Another interesting bizarre beings is shadow people who is a shadowy spiritual beings long been a staple of folklore. Stories of these supernatural entities have spanned centuries and cultures. They are some of the most mysterious entities in the known universe. As reported those who saw the shadowy intruders were scare to death as if they had died in their sleep. The Beast of Bray Road is another scary creature of Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Its a hairy humanoid with canine features standing on two legs and can resemble a bear. All those cryptozoological creatures mentioned in this article were indeed real or just folklore. Whether they do exist in this century , no one be sure. But definitely they do decades ago as recorded. There are many unknown out in the universe.
Thank you Rinpoche for this interesting sharing.
Springheel Jack made me laugh lol.
Thinking about mysteries might open the mind.
As a kid, I used to read several books a week of horror and ghost stories and was never really scared, I think. Now I become frightened more easily, I wonder why?
Maybe some of the unusual things people see are tulpa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulpa or beings of other dimensions?
Perhaps the force of hysteria prompted some people to see their imaginings and this is why some details, perhaps those reported in the press, were standard in some cases, and variable in other particulars.
Thank you for sharing this much information on cryptids. I have tons of liking towards cryptids. I have particular interest in the cryptid called mothman. The mothman was sighted many times and he is usually a symbol of bad luck as with sightings of it, followed the collapse of the Silver Bridge. I noticed that the mothman is never mentioned or heard much about in Malaysia, so I guess I should not be watching the skies. I think the pongo seems like a cannibal version of Bigfoot. Another thing that interests me is the Ebu Gogo. It looks quite cute.
