The celebrities ghost stories was quite a shock to me.
People can be so attached to people they loved, and, they wanted to protect them even after they die.
To me, it is not something good because the person who are dead is now rebirth as a ghost! They cant move on to proper life and once in ghost realm, how much suffering and pain they are going to get. To one point, if they see the loves one did something which is not to their favour, will they start to harm them?
The ghost energy is so super strong that they can move the object and even carry a person. Is amazing.
On the 2 girl ghost, they are so attached to their anger and suffering. Until they do not even want to be help…
On the Psychic kids- I wonder it is good to open up them more and explore them to the energy or to the ability. I am not sure. Many things we still do not understand, is like those kids can “see” or “dream” about the future. But, it is good to have this ability, especially when we cant even help. What is the good to have this ability that it only bring disaster to the person. The person mind, might at one point can’t even differentiate what is real what is delusion and who feed the information to the mind. To me, it might bring more chaos.
Dear Rinpoche, after I re-watched the video again. I had a second thought. It’s great that the weird black shadow that follows Caitlyn everywhere she goes had finally leaved her alone and it’s very terrifying that just because the black shadow doesn’t want her to leave the room, it slammed the door until her bleeds. And I still don’t get it, if Matthew is not a bad spirit then why and how did Tori got her fever right after she talked to Matthew.
Dear Rinpoche, I like John Salley and Vincent Curatola’s story, their stories are very interesting but not scary. John Salley really had a good friend Llyod Harrison, he saved him on 1988, 4years after Harrison passed away and came back to save John from gunshot. John believes that his friend Harrison doesn’t want John to die the same as Harrison. And Vincent Curatola’s father also came back but to visit his son after passed away for 4 years on his birthday . It’s so cool that Vincent saw his father going into the car that he always drive.
A companion e-mailed this link the other day and i am surprised of the video. One thing that I observed is that younger ones have higher psychic abilities than older ones. Maybe our rational thinking makes us lose our psychic gifts.
I remember many years ago I had a stomach operation and was hospitalized. After my operation in the middle of night I heard a moan of help beside my bed. And when I looked by my bedside, there was no one. But I can feel like someone pulling at my leg and saying tolong, tolong in malay language. I cannot be dreaming or having hallucination as I was not taking any drugs at that time. I was very scared. I quickly told the hospital staff that I do not want to stay in that room, and to change room. I feel that someone had died in that room. My sister came and visited me. I told her about the incident. After I was discharged from the hospital only then my sister told me that her friend’s mother died of cancer on the very bed that I had slept on. And my leg had blue black marks around my ankle. Maybe my sister friend’s mother was suffering even though she may have died.
I wonder if these psychic kids are doing the right thing? I mean yes it is good to teach them how to use their powers etc but isn’t it still dangerous? What if they come across a spirit that can harm or want to harm them? Are they able to protect themselves? At least we have our Dharma Protectors but what do they have? All these formless beings would know that these kids can see them, so wouldn’t they, the ghosts, all day and night leach on to them just to get some kind of connection to our world. I remembered an advice given by Rinpoche that this kind of gift is not something necessary for us and I’ve seen Rinpoche close the channels/chakras of these people who a receptive to these beings. So is it really good encouraging these kids to use their abilities?
Do ghost really exist??? Do Buddha and God exist in this world that we live in??? How can we believe something paranormal without believing the other?
Even without seeing, I believe it exists. Even though most of us cannot see them, it does not mean it is not there. Some of us only believe that Buddha and God are they only in our hearts but some truly believe that Buddha and God truly exist. If you believe there are Buddha and God, which is something that cannot be seen with human eyes, why shouldn’t there be ghost in this world?
It’s wonderful to see how Chip and Edy in the Psychic Kids (2) helped Caitlyn and Tori through their unconditional love, support, patient, encouragement, and acceptance. Look at the tremendous transformation that they had within a weekend, from feeling helpless, terrified, and uncertain to someone whom developed faith, strength, courage, and confidence.
I guess if Chip and Edy doubt Caitlyn and Tori, dismissed them from exploring further into what they have experienced or felt from the very beginning, the outcome would have been totally different. They might not be able to even open up, find the comfort and support to explore, and to reach the state to believe in themselves.
I believe in the existence of ghost simply because of this. If we believe in the existence of gods, why would we not believing in ghost actually exists. Things that we don’t believe doesn’t mean that they don’t exist. I have also came across some friends who can see supernatural existense largely. I don’t think children can lie up to this extend. Even animals can see. I have seen dogs barking at the door way without anyone there and this actually firms up my believe towards the existence of formless beings affirming what i ready everything being explained by Rinpoche. If we believe there is an existence of formless beings, i can’t understand why we don’t believe there is an existence of other beings such as Buddhas, demi gods and hell beings.
Dear Fang I like the thread of your comment..What does the study of buddhism really teach us in the end? To have more compassion for all beings?
When I see these films and horror movies it makes me sad at the lost opportunity to truly help the easy option for the many people is to be fearful(I myself am guilty pre-Rinpoche teachings), run away from the said problem or say they don’t believe!
Why not on deeper level to consider the endless cycle of suffering of these beings. Why not consider dedication and prayers for these beings in our daily prayers.
I can vaguely recall one of Rinpoches teachings about Zong Rinpoche doing a specific puja for hungry ghosts as one of his practices? May we all one day have the blessings and merit to receive from Rinpoche for these practices to benefit in the future.
But for us low level practitioners without attainments Tsongkhapa’s holy mantra is more than sufficient for us modern day practitioners.
We all want blessings, we want to give blessings to our loved ones, family, pets..but essential to give the power to our prayers we must hold our vows well and purely to have the power to bless.
Thank you Rinpoche for waking me up! and thinking deeper about other beings than myself.
With the influences of media and upbringing, we are conditioned to fear what/who we do not understand. I do not doubt that these entities we classified as ghost/spirits exist; especially when I have experienced a personal encounter. Not understanding where they come from, who they are and what they want – I was naturally frightened. It wasn’t until I came across a passage in the Lamrim which made me think differently…
In Day 18:
“When you are harmed by spirit kings, spells, evil spirits. And so forth, consider that they are doing you a great kindness, since this harm will act as an incentive for you to practice Dharma…”
I do not pretend that I know much from the teaching in Lamrim, this was just a chapter which KMP was responsible to read at a retreat. But having read the teaching, and questions answered by Rinpoche; there are different kind of entities. Some are nasty and harmful because they have been given a lot of pain. With their suffering in mind, they deserve our pity and not so much, fear
Terima Kasih Rinpoche!
Indeed, the innocence of children is often their greatest asset but also ‘frustrating’ to some adults as often they do not meet the hidden agendas or box thinking mindsets of their elders. Sad but true…
I find this remark made by one Ch’an Master, the late Ven Master Hsuan Hua short comment on ghosts…
“Q : Do you believe in ghosts?
A : If you don’t believe in ghosts then you won’t believe in Buddhas. Ghosts become Buddhas through cultivation.”
http://cttbusa.org/vajrastrikes/buddhism_2.asp
…and interesting parallel with David Lai’s earlier observance…
“Since ghosts exist and therefore higher beings must exist as well! It is a small link but nonetheless a link that reveals indirectly that higher beings like Buddhas do exist.”
Must read here on Rinpoche’s answer to someone on ghosts…

We fear anything which is unknown to us, including paranormal activities and happenings. We even fear other human beings or animals. However, I know that kids do not know how to lie especially below the age of 6 or 7 years old or before they enter primary school. Children also have pure minds and would not be able to tell what is real or unreal to them.
Even when children sees ghosts or spirits, they would not be able to tell the difference between a human form or paranormal because they have unbiased minds. I find the reincarnation stories mind boggling but I do not close up my mind to confirm they don’t exist. The fact that these children can recall their past lives is evident that we do have previous lives and our soul is very old.
It is so eeeerie…these ghost stories but ghost does exist in this world. They wish for happiness just like very one of us. They come out to haunt people because they are stuck where they are. They are who they are because they did not have the wisdom of Dharma, to let go of oneself, forgive and not to be attached to whatever they are attached to. Basically their delusions or bad karma or habituation steers them into this rebirth and they will be in this rebirth for extremely long time. However, as Tsem Rinpoche said if we apply Dharma to our bad karma and delusion we could break away from this rebirth and gain a better rebirth to practise the Dharma for liberation of oneself and others.
If you’re blindfolded and led into a room that is lit up, you obviously can’t see the light, but does it mean there is NO light just because you can’t see? I find this post very interesting. It doesn’t fall under any religious labels or beliefs systems…just sheer normal people sharing common experience which cannot be explained by logic. Many frown upon and not accept people who are different from themselves…and many families struggle to support their own children who are confused and in so much fear. It’s becoming harder for people to dispute the existence of ghosts and psychic gifted people as more and more of such cases are surfacing and documented. Personally, I find it harder to not believe..
When children or even adults share their accounts of seeing beings of the extraordinary, spirit realms, haunting them as these beings try to communicate with them, I think on a karmic level, they are somehow connected. And more often that the kids or adults are sacred to death without the understanding these spirits are in a more miserable and frightening state. It is said that when one dies, if one cannot move on and take on a rebirth within 49 days, the soul will be trapped in bardo and become a wondering spirit. The cause of the being not able to take a rebirth is like what Joy has mentioned, that either the being died tragically and he/she is not prepared and is still very attached to the people in his/her past life. In buddhism, we do not try to kill these spirits by consulting a witch doctor, but I was taught by Rinpoche that we should generate a sense of compassion towards them. By doing certain protector mantra, eg Setrap , or special deity mantra such as the white umbrella mantra (dukkar), we can ward off the interferences casued by these spirits. Learn more about how Setrap can assist you. http://www.kechara.com/kechara-house/pujas/setrap-puja/
Or find out more the Dukkar puja. http://www.kechara.com/kechara-house/pujas/dukkar-puja/
In doing these pujas, we should dedicate the merits to these beings for a good human rebirth so that they can leave this state of existence.
From the videos, I learned that there are people who have sensibility or psychic abilities. If these abilities can be developed, these people can help ghosts to cross over. Most spirits are harmless. They are stuck and need help. This is why they disturb people who they think can help them. People who can see ghosts have to learn to overcome their fear with understanding and reach out to them. I’m more convinced now that ghosts exist although I can’t see them. I didn’t believe in ghosts until a few years ago when a friend told me that she could see them. She’s not afraid and continues to live in a house that is haunted. The ghosts disturb her every now and then. Why is she not afraid? I’m afraid of ghosts but Buddhism has taught me to be compassionate and I’m dealing with this fear.
I don’t think kids lie. The kids were afraid and needed help with what they were experiencing but I think it is better to go to a teacher to help with something like that, because I feel a lot of people who are famous psychics are too greedy and might exploit the children or teach them to use their abilities for moneys.
I like your sharing David. Yes it is TRUE that these formless being do exist and that gives us inferential logic that higher beings like the Buddhas also exist. Which is GOOD NEWS isn’t it?
Now a lot of people are actually afraid and they shun these formless beings/spirits/ghost etc. and they would actually engage or solicit a witch doctor (BOMO in Malay)to help them either get rid of the spirit or even use the spirit to get what they want. This is very sad because they do not realise the huge “pay back” they have to pay after their deed is done. It is literally selling your soul to be reborn in the lower realms. Hence Rinpoche has always advice us to never never solicit witch doctors, get back at people or even harm the spirit. Instead Rinpoche always advice us to chant our protector mantra and with compassionate motivation to dedicate merits to the spirit and ask them to leave you alone – not send them to hell, which I think most people would think.
Actually if we think deeper, the spirit/ghost is actually suffering a lot. If they died tragic way, like in a car accident or murdered etc., they are usually stuck in the bardo/limbo realm and they actually relived over and over again the way they died. So they actually experience the pain over and over again. We should actually feel sorry for them as they have no way out. That is why we chant to dedicate merits to them. So instead of always shunning them, we can change our perspective and try to not harm them back but dedicate some merits to them.
You can chant our Dharma Protector Setrap’s mantra OM MAHA YAKSHA CHA SOHA for protection and also dedicate it to them, how? Listen to this short massage from Rinpoche to a dear friend who did Setrap http://tsemtulku.com/teachings/dharma-talks-teachings/a-special-setrap-meditation/
I do believe in ghosts and having encountered them have given me a direct perception upon beings that are without a physical body. Since ghosts exist and therefore higher beings must exist as well! It is a small link but nonetheless a link that reveals indirectly that higher beings like Buddhas do exist. On top of that, certain meditational practice like White Umbrella have remarkable ability to ward of unwanted spiritual interferences.
The video of the psychic kids are an amazing proof of such paranormal abilities. Scientists are often baffled by their abilites but prefer to place studies of such abilities to the realm of the paranormal. However, in Buddhism, such abilities are commonplace and is often hidden or placed below actual spiritual attainments of wisdom and compassion. They are considered mundane attainments that gets lost at death. We can only bring real spiritual attainments to the next life.
I have faith in most kids’ honesty and spontaneity.I find the accounts and experiences described by these kids here and their parents’ concerns very believable.
It does not have hype or signs of exaggeration like those protrayed in movies that are dramatized for effect.
Real fear is insidious and cannot really be expressed because it is not easily expressible. The more it is spoken the more the fear grows in us as we recollect the experiences.
The kids telling it are very straight forward about how they feel- it wasnt about obvious pain or immediate threat but the suffering of confusion and fear of what is going on which cannot be explained by themselves or by their parents and which just repeats and disturbs their peace.
