Dermal Ridges
Throughout history there have been scientific finds that defy imagination. Here we have some of those that really change the way we think about the world, to encompass a broader perspective and make us realise that we are not alone in the world. There exists a phenomenal body of eyewitness accounts of Bigfoot sightings, from all over the world, together with various types of evidence that Bigfoot exists. However, there has never been anything conclusive that can irrefutably prove the existence of Bigfoot. Nonetheless, the advancement of technology opens whole new vistas that bring us much closer towards a conclusion about Bigfoot. The following scientific findings provide rather compelling proof about the existence of Bigfoot. They are from two reputable documentaries, Mysterious Monsters (1975) and Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science (2003).
Vocal Tract
In Mysterious Monsters, Allan Barry, Rick Murphy and Tim Sawyer discovered oversized human-like footprints while camping in the remote forests of the high Sierra Nevada Mountain range, in the United States. The men were relaxing at the end of a long day in the woods when they heard the growling and wailing of an unknown creature. They quickly recorded it on a tape recorder, which was later submitted for analysis by field expert, Dr Robert Sheldon.
The documentary entitled Mysterious Monsters not only investigates the existence of Bigfoot, but also the Loch Ness Monster and the Yeti.
Not knowing what creature had made the sound, the recording was first digitised and then subjected to computer analysis. Once digitised, computer software can analyse any portion of sound frequency from a recording. In this particular case, they chose to analyse the ‘S’ sound because it had an unusual frequency structure. According to the analysis, the frequency structure of the recording was found to be significantly lower than a normal human male voice.
In the video, the voice of Peter Graves, the host of the documentary was recorded enunciating a vowel sound. This was then digitised and its frequency compared to a similar sound in the original recording. When comparing the frequency graphs of both Peter Graves and the creature in the recording, it shows that the graph peaked earlier and was higher for Peter than the creature. After the second peak, Peter’s graph tapered lower than that of the creature in the recording. It was obvious that the creature that made the sound in the recording was not human.
The average human male vocal tract is around 17 cm long but the vocal tract of the creature in the recording had to be around 25 cm to create the frequency range that was captured.
In summary, Dr Sheldon explained that the average human male vocal tract is around 17 cm long. But the vocal tract of the creature in the recording had to be around 25 cm to create the frequency range that was captured. Hence, Dr Sheldon said that based on the analysis, the creature that made the sound had to be 50 percent larger than the average human male. Peter Graves stated that he was around 6 feet tall, therefore the creature in the recording had to be around 9 feet.
In addition, Dr Sheldon subjected the audio recording of the creature to a Formant track. He explains that this is similar to voice print analysis and that the program examines the articulatory flexibility of the creature’s vocal range via the movement of the frequency. In the analysis, three vowels are found throughout the recording – ‘Eh’, ‘Ah’ and ‘Oh’. However the sound ‘Ee’ does not appear on the recording, suggesting that the creature is unable to produce this sound. This particular sound requires the tongue to move forward in the mouth. If one were to look at the physical structure of a primate like a gorilla, it has its head at such an angle that would make it impossible to move the tongue forward in order to make the ‘Ee’ sound. Only humans, with our head and flexible tongue structure, are able to produce this sound.
From the analysis of the audio recording, one can come to a conclusion that the creature making the sound stands 9 feet tall and has a head structure similar to a primate, like that of a gorilla. Therefore, it is unable to produce the ‘Ee’ sound.

Dermal Ridges
Dermal Ridges are surface ridges on the skin that cover the entire human body, especially the fingers and feet. Dermal ridges also contain pores that produce sweat and oil which leave indentation marks upon smooth surfaces when fingers (and even feet in the case of Bigfoot footprints) come in contact with it. This is better known as fingerprint marks that remains the same throughout the lifetime of the individual. Each fingerprint is a physical marking that is unique to the individual, no two people have the exact same fingerprints. The use of fingerprints can be used to identify individuals and is an precise science. It is commonly used in crime scene investigations, and is used as valid evidence in courts of law to prosecute individuals and even put them in jail.
Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science investigates the compelling evidence behind the existence of Bigfoot
Jimmy Chilcutt, a crime scene investigator, is one of the foremost experts in Dermal Ridges and in the documentary, Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science, he examines the best samples of Bigfoot footprint castings. In his work, Chilcutt says he has to be very careful and professional because his work can put people in jail. Chilcutt has fingerprinted every known great ape species and hence, he is also an expert in primate dermal ridges. Through his research, he is able to establish gender and race of primates via examination of dermal ridges.
According to his research, human dermal ridges run horizontally across the feet, while in primates, the ridges run diagonally. But in the Bigfoot castings, the dermal ridges run vertically across the side of the feet. This goes to show that the Bigfoot footprint casting was clearly not made by a man or an ape. On top of that, the Bigfoot footprint cast is twice the thickness of footprints made by a human. This means that the creature making the print is much heavier than a human being and is around the size of the creature that we commonly know as Bigfoot. In the video, Chilcutt notes that a particular Bigfoot footprint cast he was examining had the same dermal ridge patterns as another footprint cast taken 10 years apart and that the samples taken are hundreds of miles apart. This is clear evidence that there is obviously more than just one Bigfoot, and that they are in fact a species like humans, spread over a large area. On top of that, they can be individually identified by their dermal ridges, just as humans can be individually identified by their fingerprints.
Dermal ridges can only be seen under magnification, and not with the naked eye. If the castings were hoaxes, it would take a very high level of sophistication to produce, either a scientist or a crime scene investigator, both of whom would have had to be specialised in dermal ridges. A hoaxer would need to painstakingly carve out each line of the dermal ridges, which run parallel to each other and do not intersect, onto a mould. This in itself would be a feat, given the precision and intricacy of the lines. This mould would then have had to be used to create an impression in the mud or soil in various places, for other people to come and make castings of. What makes the situation even more unlikely is that each mould would have to be different, but include the intricate dermal ridges. Who would have the specialisation to do something like that, and what benefit would they get from doing so? It doesn’t make sense that it would be a hoax, given the intricacy and the lack of benefit that such work would entail.
Dermal ridges have been found on Bigfoot castings from all over the world, and when they are examined together, they all have the exact type of vertical characteristics. For someone to have hoaxed the footprints is highly unlikely due to the geographical difference and the length of time between when the footprints were found and the castings made. Another fact is that dermal ridges are only known occur in humans and primates, however it is scientifically clear that the Bigfoot castings do not belong to either of these two bi-pedal creatures, especially since the dermal ridges are completely different. Despite the fact that the footprint castings vary between location and time, which they would in any species, the fact that dermal ridges are clearly evident on them under magnification, and that they are different, just goes to show that Bigfoot is not just one creature, or something that was imagined, but an actual unknown species, just like humans and primates. In essence dermal ridges is solid proof that the Bigfoot species exists.

Bigfoot footprints and their castings are the largest body of evidence for the study of the existence of Bigfoot. Hence, there is a concerted effort to examine and catalogue Bigfoot castings by leading researchers. With this body of evidence, Dr Jeff Meldum, an associate professor of anatomy at Idaho State University was able to establish various details – such as flexion and extension of the toes, variation in toe position, where the bones in the feet join with one another as a whole, the interaction of the foot with the soil under various weather conditions and the overall shape. This was then compared to various other castings from various primates, humans and also other non-human tracks.
Due to the research, Bigfoot experts are now able to discern a real Bigfoot footprint from that of other larger primates. From the minute details of the Bigfoot casting, one is able to see the consistency of physical characteristics of a Bigfoot footprint, that it is unique and distinct from other large primates.

Peter Hurkos
Peter Hurkos became famous by performing psychic ‘readings’ in front of live audiences and on television
Peter Hurkos was widely known as the world’s foremost psychic. He was born on May 21, 1911, in Dordrecht, Holland and he passed away on June 1, 1988 in Los Angeles, CA. He developed his psychic ability in 1941 after falling from a ladder, which left him in a coma for three days at the Zuidwal Hospital. Upon regaining consciousness, he discovered he had developed psychic abilities. Hurkos eventually gained widespread acceptance as a psychic detective, while working on a number of high-profile cases.
In 1956, Hurkos travelled to the United States on the invitation of Dr Andrija Puharich to have his psychic abilities tested at Glen Cove medical research laboratory in Maine. He was tested for two and half years under tightly controlled conditions and the results convinced Dr. Puharich that Hurkos’ psychic abilities were far greater than any he had ever tested before. He had a remarkable 90% accuracy on all test results. From the tests, it seemed that Hurkos’ forte was psychometry, which was the ability to see into past, present and future associations by merely touching an object.

In Mysterious Monsters, Peter Graves visited Peter Hurkos in his Los Angeles home while carrying with him a giant plaster cast of a Bigfoot footprint that was hidden in a briefcase. Graves then proceeded to request Hurkos to do a ‘reading’ on the briefcase without knowing its contents. What Hurkos had to say about the contents was a remarkably close description of what experts know about Bigfoot today.
He said that the creature was half man and half animal. He said that the creature weighed about 500 lbs, was between 8 to 9 feet tall, lived in caves, and ate berries and vegetation, together with other animals. He stated that although it was not a gorilla, it had a strong chest, long arms, and human-like fingers. He also stated that the creature was very hairy and had short facial hair. Then, Peter Hurkos proceeded to draw the image of the creature according to his psychic vision. What emerged from his sketch was a haunting image of a wide-eyed Bigfoot.

Conclusion
The latest scientific analysis offers fascinating insight and clues towards the existence of Bigfoot. From just an audio recording, scientists are able to conclude on the approximate size of the creature that made that sound, which corresponds to the average size of an adult Bigfoot. Furthermore, from the little dermal ridges on plaster casts of Bigfoot footprints, scientists are able to determine that it was not made by man or even an ape This leaves the possibility open for the existence of Bigfoot.
Finally, from a cast of a Bigfoot footprint hidden in a briefcase, a psychic investigator, Peter Hurkos was able to ‘psychometrise’ an image of a hairy face along with various characteristics that matches those of Bigfoot. With such compelling evidence, it is hard to not be at least open to the possibility of the existence of Bigfoot.

In 1967, Bob Gimlin and Roger Patterson stumbled across an incredible sight whilst out in Bluff Creek, in the California wilderness. At a creek which had been freshly washed-out by recent floods, they witnessed a female Bigfoot swiftly traverse the rugged landscape. Since their filmed encounter with the Bigfoot, who has since been nicknamed Patty, many have disputed the authenticity of their recording but no one has been able to successfully prove that it is a fake.

Mankind for century reported witness bigfoot existence and film it for documentary. Bigfoot it intriguing as the evidences such as pictures or films are not very clear and no skeleton has been found as far as I know. Yet, in Buddha’s scriptures, Buddha mentioned about them and all over the world people have different names for Bigfoot. Never say Never! Until today, scientists are still discovering new species of living being on Earth. The forests and oceans are so deep, wide, and they are occupying most areas on Earth, how could it be fully discovered? Human beings are just way to ego and think that we are the only being that could control the world. The 3 points in the article are really firm and reliable. Im always very interested with the mysterious beings, how’s their living, how they communicate with each other, how long is their life, etc, etc.
Most of the Bigfoot or any other mysterious beings I’ve read is from the documentary from many years ago which during that time, the technology is still not so advance like today, but surprisingly, I have never heard about any recent sighted of Bigfoot or and trace taken by today’s technology, I wonder do they still exist?
Actually, I got to know of Big Foot is thru TV and never much in deep into the ecology. In this discussion, I gain more opinions from their sharing and I agreed with Pastor Henry definition. If Bigfoot were been captured, firstly these creature will be landed on the bed of laboratories for specimen. Follow by extinction of population due to satisfaction demand. Mankind is so horrible and scary. People are willing to pay high price just to satisfy their desire without realizing pain and suffering of others.
The searching of Bigfoot has been many years and we can see many people around the world had shown their evidence but of course some may be hoax. The scientific analysis from the article able to determined the difference of this being from human and other animals but may still unable to determined 100% identical to Bigfoot as they don’t have the sample of Bigfoot to compare or make reference. Accept for the psychic which through his supernatural ability he able to describe the Bigfoot and its nature.
It’s a great finding from the analysis but is still mystical as this intelligent creature able to hide themselves from human beings and stay away secretly living in their own way. I hope their habitat will be preserved as such and not being intrude by anyone, else they will be treated as aliens and even being experiment due to their natural uniqueness.
There are many living beings out there that we have not seen or encountered and it doesn’t mean they don’t exist. What important is respect and compassion to them. We may see them as different so them when looking at us. Let’s live in peace and harmony in this world for the betterment of our future.
The ever elusive Bigfoot has made it tough for enthusiasts searching for concrete evidence to support its existence. Bigfoot is most likely out there somewhere in the wilderness yet remain largely at bay for even a clear photo or video of it to be taken by anybody in modern day. What I do not wish for is the capture of a Bigfoot for it will be exploited by mankind, even in the name of science. They are perhaps creatures that have been existing before humans evolved, maybe they are the missing link. It is best that humans allow these creatures be, in their own habitat, and not captured and exhibited in zoos.

I always find the unexplained very mind intriguing.
How do they survive? Where do they hide? From another dimension? Where do they die? Where do they live?
One of the point that stuck out in my mind was, if they want to be seen easily, they would have done so all these years.
Humans are scary because of the pain and harm they can inflict on others. Imagine what would the scientists do if they ever capture one of those Bigfoot? I cannot imagine how traumatized will Bigfoot be. Maybe it’s a good thing that they stay hidden and mysterious for the benefit of themselves.

In this post, I had goose bumps when I read the part where Peter Hurkos was able to ‘psychometrise’ Bigfoot! Interesting!
Yes sounds convincing but i still need to see their bones to be 100% sure. I fond the belief of the existence of BigFoot in the planet but if we can find dinosaur bones everywhere in the world, then it should not be too difficult to find one big foot bone unless there is a civilisation among BigFoot which takes care of their kind’s remains once they die or and i don’t think BigFoot is immortal. Even if BigFoot have longer life span, surely there should be some findings of remains of a BigFoot?
I can’t wait to meet Big Foot! I think it’s fascinating to be able to have a big foot friend. I believe Big Foot is a kind and intelligent creature that live in another space on earth. Infact I do not want them to be found because I do not want them to be caught, sent to lab and suffer from all kind of tests. We have seen enough animals being tested. It’s cruel and inhuman. I want Big Foot to live happily, free of disaster of civilisation in the forest, caves or in the snow. I want them to be safe.
Although not 100% conclusive, the scientific and psychic analysis and conclusions of the existence of BIgfoot are pretty convincing that these huge beings do exist.
What is convincing is the dermal ridges test results of two different sets from places very far from each other and with a time lapse of 10 years. As explained in this article, dermal ridges are like human finger prints. From our experience and knowledge, finger prints definitely defines individual and cannot be forged. Our finger prints are us. Therefore I tend to believe that Big foot exist as they have left their prints for us to acknowledge their presence.
Are Big foot mystical and for reasons known to them only, avoid human contact?
With these fascinating scientific methods for identifying primates and humans, you would think that we would be finding Bigfoot soon. But, somehow they have eluded us despite the efforts of many to find them. Even though these dermal ridges prove that there are creatures that are like human but yet are not human and cannot be found except for the footprints.
Why were no remains ever found of these beings? Even elephant carcasses have been found when none had been before. Now we know where elephants go to die but Bigfoot? Fossils of dinosaurs and mammoths have been found but still no Bigfoot. If we believe in alternate universe, then could they be found in a parallel universe?
I wonder when we will find the answer, if ever.
I always believes in the existence of Big Foot, and i think they are some kind of mystical creatures with extraordinary ability to hide and protect themselves. Now there are concrete evidence used by the scientist to proof the existence of Big foot. Using the dermal ridges, scientist has able to establish the existence of more than just one Bigfoot, and that they are in fact a species like humans, spread over a large area.
To Tibetans, Big Foot is not something strange to them. I often heard from Tsem Rinpoche that Tibetan Lamas used to have big foot to served them like student does while doing meditation in a remote mountain. The big foot will bring the Lama wild fruits, berries and firewood on a daily basis.

It is truly exciting that there is mounting evidence that Bigfoot does exist! This interesting article by David Lai contains the evidence gathered via three different types of investigations – via analysis of the audio recording of the digitalised sounds made by a Bigfoot, via an analysis of the dermal ridges of over 100 footprint casts collected over a span of 20 years and from different localities, and via the “psychometrising” of an image of the Bigfoot through a psychic reading of a hidden footprint cast of a Bigfoot.
All in all, from the three methods of analysis and deduction, it has been concluded that the Bigfoot is part man and part ape, but more man than ape. According to the renowned psychic,Peter Hurkos , it is not a gorilla. It has a strong chest and long arms.It is 8 to 9 feet tall. It weighs about 500 lbs.It is hairy with long hair covering its body, but with short facial hair. The sketch done of a Bigfoot by Peter Hurkos is by far the clearest image of a Bigfoot.
It remains now for someone to capture a Bigfoot or at least to capture a clear shot of it on camera. Nonetheless, the Bigfoot remains largely elusive, and my belief is that it is quite an evolved being and is semi-mystical as well.
This is new information that I have never seen on Bigfoot before.
Some of these information are interesting to say the least. I suppose the only thing left is to get hold of a live Bigfoot. What is interesting is that no Bigfoot has been captured before. A bigfoot is very powerful and strong, so to catch one will not be so easy and it being a creature that lives in the woods, it has much more advantage than normal humans, it senses can detect a human from miles away.
Peter Graves, and these very old videos! I do have some recollection of seeing Peter Graves on TV as a young kid! Way back then they already had the capacity to study voice recordings and identification to such extent, amazing.
I wonder why Big Foot keeps eluding the human realm up till today. There is so much evidence of their existence amongst us but they still do not show their face, neither do they harm though they are said to be over-sized compared to the human species.
They must be rather camera shy, avoiding social interaction (with other species!), preferring to mind their own business. Maybe they are very considerate beings because they might be afraid of frightening us since they look strange to our species hence they avoid us or it’s their survival instinct as perhaps they consider the human species to be more dangerous or a threat to their survival.

You brought up a really interesting question about Bigfoot and I have also pondered about this and I have come up with my very own theory about this. First of all, the obvious reason would be that they are far more agile and much faster than the average human being due to their size and muscular structure. So, they probably are able to evade humans especially in the thick foliage of the wilderness that they are familiar with.
On the other hand, I think they are probably ‘sensitive’ or perhaps psychic. They probably have a highly developed ESP -‘extra sensory perception’ to be able to assess the danger of being in close proximity with human beings. I have always suspected this because they always prefer to hide and stay away from humans as if they knew that it would not be good for them.
Bigfoot, sasquatch, abominable snowman or yeti are just various names of the same type of being. They have been spotted all over the world. The descriptions of their physical appearance are very similar.
I believe that such beings exist and it is just a matter of time that more evidence surface. In Tibet, sightings of yetis are very common. To the Tibetans, they are a kind of animal. There are also accounts from Tibetan lamas that they have trained yetis to bring them food and pass written messages to other lamas when they are in retreat in the Himalayan mountains.

Wow, dermal ridges is another part of the puzzle to Bigfoot. The thorough work of the people in the documentary brings evidence to us about the species of Bigfoot just like many people who witnessed them in the wilderness like Reinhold Messner did about the Yeti. It would be interesting to know if there is a difference between Bigfoot, Yeti and Sasquatch or if it is just a different name give by the local people.

I remember another which is the ratio of the length of the arms vs. the legs which is consistent in the many captured images and different from that of primates and humans.

Always fascinated about how latest scientific analysis can be put to good use to shred light to the existence of mystical creatures. Now, with the similar conclusions from vocal tract analysis and dermal ridge findings, it is with certainty that Big Foot does exist. This is a “new” species purportedly more evolved than any animals that we had known. Since they are living in the wild, I hope the scientist who are keen to learn more will not cross the boundary of capturing and keeping the Big Foot in captivity in the name of research. Thank you Stella. However, I wouldn’t call Bigfoot more evolved because human beings are suppose to be the most evolved because we developed intelligence, language, technology and so forth. Bigfoot on the other hand evolved greater physical prowess and have been able to evade man till this day. I still think it is partly because of their speed and agility combined with their heightened extra sensory perception or sixth sense. They are able to pick up on our presence and intent. I guess they didn’t really like our intent and have mostly stayed away in the wilderness and evaded mankind. This was quite clear.
With modern and high technology scientist can determine their research investigations much easier.Can imagine they could even conclude towards the existence of Bigfoot,with sound recorded which they can know the size of the creature.That was a wonderful discovery and with the evidence of dermal ridges from the foot prints plaster cast scientists can definitely said that Big foot do exists in this world.
