This so-called ‘Rinpoche’ wants to send Tsem Rinpoche to hell

For over 400 years, the practice of Dorje Shugden has been propagated within all four major traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. Originating in the Sakya tradition, it was eventually adopted by the Gelugpas but has also been practised within the Nyingma and Kagyu traditions. This all changed when the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), who are the Tibetan exiled leadership based in Dharamsala, North India, instigated a vicious and targeted campaign to ban the practice, taking an order from His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the extreme.

Since 1996, the CTA has discriminated against Dorje Shugden practitioners, ostracising them from the Tibetan community, expelling from the monasteries any monks who continue the practice, separating families, and imposing draconian measures reminiscent of the extreme segregation that existed before the American Civil Rights movement or the treatment of Jews in Nazi Germany.

What makes matters worse is that the discriminatory and abusive practices imposed by the CTA are enforced by Tibetans and Tibetan Buddhist communities all around the world who are supposed to be practising love, compassion and tolerance for all as was taught by the historical Buddha Shakyamuni himself. But the targeted discrimination against Dorje Shugden practitioners has been brought to another level, where even on modern-day social media platforms, people will harass you and send you hateful condemnations on a daily basis.

They will target you, make personal remarks which are totally irrelevant and attack your appearance, background, education, teachers, friends and practice, even though they have never met you, spoken to you, or otherwise have any connection with you; they become violent and vulgar simply because they do not agree with your choice of faith.

Recently, His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche posted up an image of a thangka (Tibetan Buddhist painting depicting various deities) on his Facebook Fan Page. The main images in the thangka are that of Guru Rinpoche, the great Indian tantric adept whose deeds cleared the way for Buddhism’s spread from India to Tibet; the sacred female Buddha Green Tara, popularly practised by all traditions of Tibetan Buddhism; and the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. But within hours, the hatred against Dorje Shugden practitioners was made apparent when a man who goes by the name of ‘Khenpo Sonam Rabten Rinpoche’ (Sonam Rabten) left an extremely hateful, shocking and very violent threat on Rinpoche’s Fan Page wall.

“Hey You Bloody Fool Rascal and Shameless Tsem Tulku Zunma [Tibetan: fake] Haramzade [Persian/Hindi: an insulting way to call someone an illegitimate child]. Why are you still trying to make the this Dhamnyam Dhamsi [Tibetan: vow-breaker] Dholgyal [Tibetan: derogatory name for Dorje Shugden] as a Sungma [Tibetan: Dharma protector] of Nyingma Sect. Now Your Pot of Sin is Full. So We the Nyingmapa Followers has Nominated two Powerful Ngagpa (Tantrik) Ngagpa Karma Lhundrub and Ngagpa Tashi Tobden to send you to Hell and Yam Lokh [Hindi: the realm of the lord of death]. within One week. So Till these Two Powerful Ngagpa reach to Your Destination. Have a nice Enjoy ment.”

He posted this comment on H.E. Tsem Rinpoche's Facebook Fanpage, saying that he is sending black magic to Tsem Rinpoche just because he chooses to practise Dorje Shugden. Click on image to enlarge.

Khenpo Sonam Rabten Rinpoche posted this comment on His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s Facebook Fan Page, saying that he is sending black magic to Tsem Rinpoche just because he chooses to practise Dorje Shugden. Click on image to enlarge.

This shocking comment reflects the reality of the discrimination against Dorje Shugden practitioners, which is violent, abusive and continues to exist even today when, by law in all democratic countries, people’s religious freedom to practise whatever they choose should be upheld. On top of this, the image was posted on Tsem Rinpoche’s own Facebook Fan Page, a site that is open to the public for all to see. The man does not even have any form of connection to Tsem Rinpoche but posted the comment despite this fact. The ill-will is completely unjustified.

Although Tibetan Buddhists who buy in to the CTA’s propaganda may not agree with the thangka, this does not give anyone (much less someone who claims to be a Rinpoche) the right to publicly announce that they are nominating so-called tantric practitioners to send Tsem Rinpoche to hell and to the realm of the lord of death, simply because of his religious practice. This whole issue raises a number of alarming points:

  1. If Dorje Shugden is truly so evil, why doesn’t Sonam Rabten send his tantric black magic to get rid of Dorje Shugden instead of Tsem Rinpoche? Since Dorje Shugden is a demonic vow-breaker, the object of Tsem Rinpoche’s worship and the source of the so-called ‘problem’, wouldn’t it make more sense to destroy or subdue him instead of his practitioners? Since this Sonam Rabten is so well-connected with powerful tantrikas, he should ask for Dorje Shugden to be subdued. That would sort out the problem for everyone once and for all. It would definitely make the CTA and others who discriminate against the deity all very happy. But he does not mention subduing Dorje Shugden or sending him to another realm.
  2. It is questionable what methods these tantrikas are using. Within Buddhist tantric practice there are no methods to kill a person and send their consciousness to take rebirth in a hell realm. This would actually be something more akin to black magic. If tantrikas claim to have this ability, they are actually practising a form of black magic and not Buddhism. This would mean Sonam Rabten is somehow consorting with black magic practitioners, and/or has a history of hiring people who engage in black magic, a clear violation of his vows as a monk.
  3. Sonam Rabten is not the first person who has tried to destroy Dorje Shugden, or a Dorje Shugden practitioner and he will not be the last. The fact that black magic or twisted tantric powers cannot destroy Dorje Shugden proves his enlightened nature. How can any black magic harm Dorje Shugden who is one with Manjushri, the Buddha of Wisdom? If you read Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s life story, you will know that after he arose as Dorje Shugden, many attempts were made to destroy or subdue him, including powerful fire pujas normally employed to destroy spirits. But these attempts were unsuccessful and Dorje Shugden remained and his practice flourished due to the tremendous benefits he grants to sincere Buddhist practitioners.
As an apology to Dorje Shugden for the murder and subsequent attempts to destroy him (having mistaken him for a spirit), His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama then composed a praise to Dorje Shugden and crafted a statue with his own hands to honour and recognise him as a Dharma protector.

  1. Sonam Rabten implies that it is the current group of lamas who will subdue Dorje Shugden practitioners and, by extension, Dorje Shugden (i.e. the lamas who came before them were unsuccessful). If Dorje Shugden is so malicious, why did His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama not perform a puja to subdue him back when he first arose as a Dharma Protector? Instead, he wrote prayers to Dorje Shugden which are still very much in use today. The CTA claims that he did so to appease Dorje Shugden as a so-called evil spirit so he will stop harming people, but that is not the behaviour of a real high lama. Hence, saying that His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama did so is actually a put-down and incorrect. Why would His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama write a prayer to Dorje Shugden when he can just subdue him? Are the CTA implying that the 5th Dalai Lama was incapable of subduing a spirit, and therefore had to appease him? How is it possible that what people call a demon (Dorje Shugden) is more powerful than the Dalai Lama or any Buddhas? If a demon can be more powerful than the Buddhas, what is the point of praying to the Buddhas and taking refuge in them? It does not make sense. Therefore it is only logical and appropriate to conclude that Dorje Shugden is none other than a Buddha, which is the real reason the 5th Dalai Lama wrote a prayer to him. It is the real reason why Dorje Shugden, and therefore Shugden practitioners, continue to exist to this day.
  2. A Rinpoche is supposed to practise compassion, wisdom, tolerance, and forgiveness, not teach people how to harm or kill others through black magic. If Sonam Rabten, who calls himself a “Rinpoche”, does not practise what the Buddha taught, who is he to judge other people’s religion and tell them what they should and should not practise? Even if he is just a normal person and not a Rinpoche, what right does he have to discriminate practitioners of another religion?
  3. He is a “Rinpoche” so why is he hiring black magic practitioners? Since Dorje Shugden is, according to him, a demon that destroys people, then if Sonam Rabten is truly concerned about people’s welfare, why is he, a “Rinpoche”, practising black magic himself? On top of that, he is asking others to send black magic to kill another person! He is setting an extremely bad example by telling others it is okay to send black magic to people you do not like, which is very wrong. This itself does not say much for his own spirituality and practice. He seems to worship and trust his own hatred more than the Buddhas. If that is the case, what does this so-called “Rinpoche” actually practise? Who would go to a “Rinpoche” who is so malicious and full of hatred? This is not Buddhism, it is pure black magic dedicated at destroying other people.
  4. Should people really take spiritual advice from such a person? If Sonam Rabten is a real Buddhist practitioner, if he really has faith in the Buddha’s teachings, if he really respects and sees some value in the vows he holds and if he is a real Rinpoche, he would not send magic to harm someone he dislikes. If everyone does what he did, what is the point of practising Buddhism at all? Real Buddhism has no such practice in which you harm another person and make them suffer by sending them to hell.

Recently, there was another hateful comment left by this Bhutanese nun, Jamyang Choden. Click on image to enlarge.

  1. Real Nyingma practitioners do not engage in black magic or any other practices that harm another person. The Nyingma tradition is based on the teachings of the Buddha as expounded by Guru Rinpoche, a powerful tantric adept from India who, through abilities gained from meditation, was able to subdue supernatural beings that hindered Buddhism’s spread in Tibet. His battles with these forces are said to have been extremely fierce but in keeping with the Buddhist teachings of love and compassion, he did not kill these beings. Instead he bound them and they became powerful oath-bound Dharma Protectors who now aid Buddhist practitioners. If people are really following the teachings of Guru Rinpoche and practising the Nyingma tradition, then how can they practise something like black magic that would kill a person and send them to a hell realm? Within Tibetan Buddhism, there are some practices that aid a person’s consciousness to take rebirth but these are always to the higher realms or pure lands of the enlightened beings. Buddhist practices never seek to harm or cause suffering to anyone (such as sending them to hell), but only to benefit. In claiming to be Nyingma, Sonam Rabten is in fact just using the Nyingma name to cover up his black magic-like practices, an act of exploitation that Nyingma practitioners should speak up about. A real Nyingma practitioner would only show love and compassion to others, not send them to hell. Instead Sonam Rabten hides behind the facade of being a Nyingma practitioner to justify the fact that he sends black magic to others. His actions defame the sacred Nyingma tradition, giving it a very bad name by making people think that they practise black magic which harms people. It is not very wise of this “Rinpoche” to act like this as it brings down the sacred Nyingma lineage.
  2. Discrimination against Dorje Shugden practitioners exists, even though many people say it does not. The comment by this so-called “Rinpoche” is proof positive that there is discrimination and segregation against Dorje Shugden practitioners. The abuse directed towards Shugden practitioners extends to the point of sending magic to kill them and sending them to hell for their practice. After all, if Dorje Shugden was not discriminated against, then why would this person be so strongly against His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche for his practice? Although people claim that discrimination does not exist, their actions tell another story.

An old thangka of Dorje Shugden, with Guru Rinpoche or Padmasambhava above him. This thangka is a historical precedent of how various deities from different sects can be incorporated into a single object of worship. Click on image to enlarge.

  1. What deity a person decides to put next to another is their choice. In this case, Sonam Rabten said that by putting Dorje Shugden next to Guru Rinpoche, whoever painted this thangka was trying to turn Dorje Shugden into a Nyingma protector and it was ‘sinful’ to do so. The fact is that Dorje Shugden was relied on within the Nyingma tradition for hundreds of years, and there are historical examples of thangkas that prove this. So in claiming that Dorje Shugden’s practice did not exist within the tradition, it is inaccurate because actual historical evidence points to the contrary, and there is plenty of historical basis for such art.
  2. Not only is Sonam Rabten’s comment historically inaccurate, but it also impinges upon the artist’s freedom of expression and the personal choice of the artwork’s commissioner. Thangkas are commissioned pieces of sacred art used by the sponsor for their personal practice. They place it on their shrine, make offerings and pray to it as a representation of the enlightened beings. Why is it wrong for a person to place a deity of their choice next to another? So what if they want to put Dorje Shugden on the same thangka as Guru Rinpoche? Or Jesus on the same thangka as Buddha Shakyamuni? That is their personal choice and their right. It is about their individual personal practice and not for anyone to judge or condemn. Neither is it about making a statement about a particular tradition or forcing your view on anyone else. Labels are made by people, and are not from the side of the Buddhas. Many people say that Guru Rinpoche is Nyingma and Dorje Shugden is Gelug, but this is wrong. Both Guru Rinpoche and Dorje Shugden are enlightened beings with the same enlightened mind and from their side, they are neither Nyingma nor Gelug; these labels do not define their enlightened qualities and nature. Therefore there is nothing wrong with anyone deciding to put them next to each other on a thangka.
  3. Why is it perfectly fine for Sonam Rabten to engage in shamanism, or have others engage in black magic-like practices, which supposedly send people to hell to suffer, and no one says anything about it? Yet people who practise Dorje Shugden are ostracised and suffer a ban on their practice, to the point of a so-called democratic government publishing books and creating videos on how bad the practice is? Dorje Shugden has never advised anyone to harm another being. On the contrary, Dorje Shugden advises people to practise renunciation, Bodhicitta (a mind of compassion), and the realisation of Emptiness (the highest form of wisdom). In fact, Dorje Shugden has advised people to not even harbour negative intentions, let alone carry out non-virtuous deeds such as hating someone to the extent of sending them to hell.

Any sane person would realise that wanting to harm someone is wrong and wanting to benefit someone is good; this is a fundamental teaching universally imparted to us in our childhoods, a principle that even the areligious can appreciate. Why then do people remain quiet when someone like this “Rinpoche” condemns others and threatens to send them to hell? On top of that, they join in and discriminate against Dorje Shugden practitioners who want nothing more than to practise their religion in peace and help others.

Why is it that the group that wants peace and harmony is so heavily targeted, but those who want to harm, like Sonam Rabten, are allowed to spew their hate? And through it all, the instigators of this situation remain silent at best, and foster even more harm at worst. Does this not sound like there is something wrong? Isn’t this evidence that peoples’ opinions have been so badly swayed by propaganda against Dorje Shugden that they cannot even think for themselves and judge whether what they hear and see is considered good or bad behaviour?

Conclusion

For all intents and purposes, Sonam Rabten’s extremely shocking and violent comment, and his wish to kill Tsem Rinpoche and send him to suffer in hell, is more than clear evidence that the ban on Dorje Shugden practice has influenced the common opinion of practitioners. Rather than judging a person on their actions, people are more than willing to condemn a person to hell based on their religious choices. And all of this hate and vitriol against Dorje Shugden practitioners can be traced back to the hands of the CTA.

But the logical question should be, why would the CTA have implemented a ban that influences people so badly that they wish such harm on others? The reason is simple: they needed a scapegoat for their failure as a government to get their country back and to govern their people in a legitimate fashion, and they have been unable to face up to the fact that their failures have led to an uncertain future for the Tibetan people. The CTA began the ban on Dorje Shugden to distract from these failures; they led the crowd to target and harm Dorje Shugden practitioners, so that the CTA themselves would not be blamed for their failures and held accountable. This is something that even international media has come to realise.

With such an institutionalised ban affecting the lives of so many people, it is evident why people like His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche feel compelled to continue speaking up against the injustice in hopes of uprooting the seeds of inaccuracy, misinformation and outright lies that the CTA have sown against Dorje Shugden within Tibetan Buddhist life. Until then, people like Sonam Rabten who are so vehemently and violently against democracy and religious freedom, will continue to exist. But, if any harm should actually befall Shugden practitioners, the source of it will be very clear – it was the CTA who instigated a ban against Dorje Shugden, which led people like Sonam Rabten to feel justified in making outright threats to harm and kill another person. Without the ban, it is doubtful that he would feel the same way about Tsem Rinpoche.

When will the CTA realise the sheer error of their ways and put an end to this discrimination? We cannot help but hope because when they finally do, then the Tibetan Buddhist community will finally heal from this great divide and become the bastion of hope, love, compassion and tolerance that it should be.

Addendum

The man who left the derogatory comment and wants to send Tsem Rinpoche to hell, ‘Khenpo Sonam Rabten’ claims on his Facebook page to have recognised himself as a Rinpoche, or reincarnated master. In fact, he claims that he is the reincarnation of ‘Lhasas Gyalpo Kunga Legpa’ but there is something a little strange here. Within Tibetan Buddhism, no reincarnated master recognises themselves, and even if they did, their status would have to be confirmed by the highest lamas of the tradition, and perhaps even the Dharma Protectors in trance of their oracles.

He recognised himself as a Rinpoche, it was posted on Facebook. Click on image to enlarge.

He recognised himself as a Rinpoche, it was posted on Facebook.

Though Khenpo Sonam Rabten claims that he is recognised, in his Facebook post he gives no further details, and only claims that he recognised himself. However, even the highest of the current Nyingma lamas were recognised by other very esteemed lamas. For example, Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche was recognised by Trulshik Rinpoche, who was the previous Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche’s most senior student and accomplished disciple. Penor Rinpoche’s incarnation was found by Tulku Thubten Zangpo Rinpoche, from a prediction letter given by Jigdrel Rinpoche. Likewise, all Rinpoches are recognised by other highly attained masters. But Khenpo Sonam Rabten does not give any proof of his recognition. Perhaps he is merely saying this to gather more followers on Facebook, so there are more people to listen to his hate speech. But can we really believe that he is an incarnate lama when he says he recognised himself, and gives no credible proof?

I cant believe that Tibetans Buddhists talk like that. And I cannot believe monks and nuns of Buddhism are longing for people to burn in hell. How can they be so lost in anger.

This is what happens when people start to focus on magic & see miracles as the best thing in Buddhism. They see everyone as having magical powers and then start to get frightened or craving to have magical powers.

They are becoming magicians not Buddhists. The main Buddhist practice is abandoning anger not cultivating magic spells.

Throne seat of Zhabdrung Jigme Norbu at Gorinang Monastery in Paro
    (From Facebook)

The seat of Zhabdrung Jigme Norbu. Here is what I found out from a short study.

High Lamas can manifest in different forms, such as the Mind emanation, Body emanation or Speech emanation. Jigme Norbu was a layman who was recognised as the Mind emanation of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal (1594-1651).

Jigme Norbu, the Fourth Mind Incarnation of the Zhabdrung, was born into the respected family line of the renowned Bhutanese Nyingma terton, Pemalingpa (1450-1521), whose Nyingma teachings had become part of the Drukpa lineage. His list of teachers included several important Je Khenpos, including Sherab Gyaltsen (25th Je Khenpo), Padma Zangpo (27th/29th Je Khenpo), Jampel Gyatso (30th Je Khenpo), and Yonten Gyaltsen (31st Je Khenpo).

After Jigme Norbu was recognized as the mind reincarnation of the Zhabdrung, he was enthroned as the Desi in 1851 under the recommendation of the Central Monk Body. However, Jigme Norbu did not want to be ordained and decided to take a consort to practice advanced Mahamudra.

He also had a daughter. This was not well looked upon by Bhutanese society. That, combined with a suspicion that he was involved in a political coup, were the reasons behind his resignation in 1852. Soon after, he left his monastic seat, Talo Sanga Choling, which is located at Talo valley, and journeyed to Tibet.

Later, Jigme Norbu returned to Gorinang, the monastery which was founded by his teacher, Sherab Gyeltsen, and passed into clear light at the age of 31.

    Dear friends,

Tibet has produced many powerful meditations, rituals and guidelines to help us gain spiritual protection, gain wisdom and higher states of consciousness. In general Tibet has produced many powerful methods for the growth of our spiritual evolution. Dorje Shugden is an angel, a saint, a powerful spiritual protector-warrior who originated 350 years ago when a highly awakened Tibetan Lama fulfilled his vows to become a special being to grant protection, wisdom, material needs, safety when travelling (normal and astral travel) and spiritual awakening. Both the Great 5th Dalai Lama and the current His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama composed short yet effective prayers to invoke upon the power and blessings of this special saint and protector. One can recite either one of the prayers that you feel suits you, anytime or even daily. When you feel a special need for help, you can recite either prayer anytime. When you are feeling down, afraid or just need a blessing, you can recite them. After reciting either invocation, it is good to chant the mantra of Dorje Shugden: Om Benza Wiki Bitana Soha.

You do not have to be a Buddhist or practitioner of any religion to invoke upon the blessings and protection of this special enlightened and awakened angel Dorje Shugden. He helps all without discrimination or bias as he is filled with compassion and love. Divinity has no boundaries, they help all who call upon them.

Enclosed are the prayers in English, Chinese and Tibetan.

May you be safe, protected and blessed.

“The 4th Zhabdrung Rinpoche of Bhutan and Dorje Shugden” blog post which was published June 8, 2018 already has exactly at the moment 152,744 views!! Over 150k views!!! Amazing!! The views will keep growing as time elapses of course.

This indicates many Bhutanse and Buddhists around the world will now know that Dorje Shugden is connected to Bhutan and their Kagyu Lineage. Dorje Shugden was promoted by the highest lama of Bhutan namely the 4th Zhabdrung Rinpoche himself. So Dorje Shugden will help and protect anyone and is not sectarian as they accuse him to be. People in the Kagyu school of Buddhism also practised Dorje Shugden and Dorje Shugden assisted them lovingly. Dorje Shugden being an emanation of Manjushri will help anyone who calls upon him regardless of their background and religion.

Good job to our writers, researchers, editors, technical team, supporting team and Kechara people who promoted this blog post on social media. Now more will come to understand how pervasive Dorje Shugden is in all the lineages of Tibetan Buddhism although the Tibetan leadership in-exile tries to hide this truth. Thank you everyone for promoting Dorje Shugden to benefit many. We were all very harmonious before the unethical ban against Dorje Shugden practitioners. Since the inception of the ban in 1996, there has been no benefits and instead so much disharmony among Tibetan Buddhists around the world. Many hundreds have spoken up about this point where we want harmony back. There should never be a ban against any spiritual practice.

His Eminence Kyabje Dagom Rinpoche’s incarnation is in Lhasa visiting. He is visiting the 350-year-old Trode Khangsar chapel dedicated to Dorje Shugden. He is paying homage to the powerful statue of Dorje Shugden housed in this sacred chapel. Both the chapel and statue of Dorje Shugden were commissioned by His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama. The Great 5th Dalai Lama also composed a prayer to be recited daily to Dorje Shugden.

Dagom Rinpoche’s previous lives were great masters, scholars and practitioners of Dorje Shugden. Now this new incarnation of Dagom Rinpoche is offering gold on the face of Dorje Shugden in homage and worship to this very sacred statue of Dorje Shugden housed in Lhasa for the last 350 years. This is a very traditional Tibetan method of paying homage to holy images, which is by offering gold with prayers.

The Tibetan leadership wrongly says if you practise Dorje Shugden you will take rebirth into the three lower realms. Hundreds of lamas from the Sakya, Kagyu and Gelugpa schools of Buddhism have practised Dorje Shugden and their incarnations returned. Many of the incarnations are recognised by His Holiness the Dalai Lama himself. So this shows if you practise Dorje Shugden, only benefits come and no harm will come. The very fact Dagom Rinpoche’s incarnation is back, is clear evidence that Dorje Shugden’s practice is beneficial.

May Dagom Rinpoche’s current incarnation live a very long life.

Divination (‘mo’) Text by Dorje Shugden

This is an important divination (‘mo’) text composed by Dorje Shugden himself. Dorje Shugden took trance of the Choyang Dulzin oracle lama, the senior oracle of Gaden Shartse Monastery, and instantly on the spot composed this text within two hours.

The divination text contains information on how to use dice to do divination for the future and is known to be highly accurate. When practitioners use this text, they will be in direct contact with Dorje Shugden to get answers to questions about the future. It is for those who have good samaya with Dorje Shugden and are free of the eight worldly dharmas to be of benefit to others in divining the future.

The Library of Tibetan Works and Archives is in Dharamsala, which is broken into two parts. Upper Dharamsala is where the Dalai Lama’s palace is located with his audience room and main prayer hall. It is also the location of the Dialectics School, Gaden Shartse’s guesthouse, restaurants, tourist hotels and main tourist areas.

A short ride down takes you to the lower part of Dharamsala where the Tibetan government is located. It is the location of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Nechung monastery, the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, the Tibetan arts centre…it’s all in one area. And the reason why it’s split into upper and lower Dharamsala is because the area is mountainous.

The Library of Tibetan Works and Archives was established by the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government to preserve all the ancient texts – both secular and spiritual – of Tibet and in the process, translate them into various languages like English. This book, Overview of Buddhist Tantra, by Panchen Sonam Drakpa was one of the books translated into English. What’s very interesting is that the book very clearly says that Panchen Sonam Drakpa’s previous life is Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen, one of the five main disciples of Lama Tsongkhapa. It also says that after that, he was Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen.

So the book is basically saying that Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen, Panchen Sonam Drakpa and Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen – the three Drakpas – are of the same mindstream.

Now that’s very peculiar because if Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen’s previous life is Panchen Sonam Drakpa, the renowned composer of 45 volumes of Dharma texts, the abbot of three monasteries AND the 15th Gaden Tripa, the holder of Lama Tsongkhapa’s throne…if that’s the case, how can Panchen Sonam Drakpa take rebirth as Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen and become an evil spirit and have a negative mind?

Prior to Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen, he was Panchen Sonam Drakpa and before that, he was Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen, a heart disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa. How can a heart disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa reincarnate as the erudite master Panchen Sonam Drakpa, and then die and reincarnate as Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen…and then Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen, due to a bad and negative prayer, become the evil spirit Dorje Shugden? How is that possible? Logically, it’s not.

What’s incredible is that all of this was printed by the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives under the Dalai Lama’s guidance. They contradict themselves because on one hand, the Tibetan leaders say Dorje Shugden is an evil spirit. On the other hand they’re printing a book saying that Panchen Sonam Drakpa, whose later incarnation became Dorje Shugden, is of this illustrious mindstream.

So how can the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, which is under the auspices of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government, print the translation of a book composed by the previous incarnation of a so-called evil spirit? How can they then say in the book that Panchen Sonam Drakpa’s previous life is Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen, and his next life was Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen?

Prior to the Dorje Shugden ban and controversy, everyone in Tibet knew that Dorje Shugden is Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen, that Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen is Panchen Sonam Drakpa, and that Panchen Sonam Drakpa is Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen. The three Drakpas, they are one mindstream emanating again and again to benefit other beings.

And as we all know, Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen became Dorje Shugden so it totally doesn’t make sense to call him an evil spirit, then highlight all of his previous lives as erudite masters, and publish all of this information under their own library. So you can see the contradictions. You can read all of this for yourself in Overview of Buddhist Tantra, which was printed by the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives.

    OVERVIEW OF BUDDHIST TANTRA

GENERAL PRESENTATION OF THE CLASSES OF TANTRA,
CAPTIVATING THE MINDS OF THE FORTUNATE ONES

    BY
    PANCHEN SONAM DRAGPA
    (Pan-chen bSod-nams grags-pa, 1478-1554)

    O Choje Sonam Dragpa Pel! (Chos-rje bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal!)
In the vast expanse of Your bodhi-mind,
The mind that the Buddhas have lauded for as many as
    one hundred times,
You have developed “merit” shining like the sun.
Through Your skill in learning, debate and writing,
As illuminating as one hundred thousand sun rays,
You have developed in You a complete knowledge of
    the entire sutras and tantras,
Resembling a garden of flowers in full bloom.
    The power of Your speech is like the sun;
The fame of your name has reached the three realms of
    this world.
O Sonam Dragpa, the teacher of teachers!
I bow down at your feet.

In the vast garden of Your great teachings,
The intelligent young people gather for
The ‘six ultimates’ and the ‘four modes of transmission,’
Just as they are attracted to
The one hundred thousand types of nectar
Dripping from a flower of one hundred petals.
May I be able to experience
The taste of the secret tantra!

Panchen Choje Sonam Dragpa Pel (Panchen Chos-rje bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal), the holder of sutra and Vajrayana teachings, was a master whose outstanding learning and spiritual accomplishments are well known by all the learned ones in Tibet. His first incarnation came in the form of one of the five prestigious disciples of Lord Tsongkhapa (Tsong-kha-pa) and became known as Vinaya Holder (Dulzin) Dragpa Gyaltsen (Gragspa rgyal-mtshan). Then came Panchen Sonam Dragpa Pel (Panchen bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal), the author of the present text. The next was Nagri Tulku Dragpa Gyaltsen (mNga’-ris sPrul-sku Grags-pa rgyal-mtshan). In this way, a line of his incarnations, each with the Dragpa (gragspa) surname, followed successively.

Panchen Sonam Dragpa Pel (Panchen bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal) was born in the 14th century in Tsetang (rTsed-thang) in the Lhoka (Lho-kha) region of Central Tibet. He entered the great seat of learning, Sera Thekchenling (Se-ra theg-chen-gling) monastic university, where he became the personal disciple of spiritual master Donyo Dangden (Dhon-yod dang-ldan) and His Holiness the Second Dalai Lama Gedun Gyatso (dGe-‘dun rgya-mtsho). Under them, he studied the entire teachings of sutra, tantra and their commentaries, and became known for his outstanding learning. He also received from them the empowerments, reading transmissions, guides and instructions of the entire body of spiritual training. On becoming the fully blessed one, the Dalai Lama appointed him the abbot of the Loseling (Blo-gsalgling) college, one of the four colleges of Drepung (‘Bras-dpung)- the most prestigious monastic university in Tibet before 1959, with over 10,000 monks on its register. He continued to be the abbot of this college for the next six years; and after him the tenure for each of his successors in this position was fixed for a period of six years, a rule that is followed even today.

He was then appointed the head of the Gelugpa (dGe-lugs-pa) order, the throne holder of Gaden (dGa’-ldan), thus becoming the 15th regent of Lord Tsongkhapa (Tsong-khapa), the second Buddha. In his eulogy to him, Khedrub Gelek Pelsang (mKhas-grub dGe-legs dpal- bzang) says:

O Lama, the second successor of the Unsubduable One,
The regent of the Lord of Dharma,
    You are the one who made the virtuous qualities thrive;
You are the one who ascended to the golden throne uplifted
    by the fearless lions.
    May Your success thrive forever!

He continued to be the throne holder for the next seven years, during which time he promoted the spread of Lord Tsongkhapa’s (Tsong-kha-pa) precious teachings, the Gelug (dGe-lugs) tradition, across the land in all directions. He also paid special attention to the practice of monastic rules and the learning and meditation of Buddhism in the monasteries such as Sera (Se-ra), Drepung (‘Bras-spungs), Kyomolung (sKyo-mo-lung), Phagmo Chode (Phag-mo chos-sde), Nyeding (Nye-sdings), Ödna (’Od-sna) and Chöde Rinchen (Chos-sde rin-chen) etc. and improved them to a great extent. He taught the Third Dalai Lama Sonam Gyatso (bSod-nams rGya-mtsho) as the latter’s spiritual master. It was from him that the Dalai Lama received the name Sonam (bSod-nams).

His contributions in the literary field are enormous; and, indeed, they are the most valuable of all his contributions. Tsongkhapa (Tsong-kha-pa) has rightly said:

    Of all one’s deeds,
The ‘deeds of speech’ are the most valuable.

Panchen Sonam Dragpa Pel (Panchen bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal) was a person with an extraordinary talent for teaching, debate and writing. In his colophon to Bu mey chi don zab don sel wey dron mey (dBu ma’i spyi don zab don gsal ba’i sgron me), he wrote:

In the field of teaching, I am [next to none!] Knowing that
I would outdo them in this field, Arya Asanga and his
    brother transmigrated into another realm.

In the field of debate, I am [next to none!] Knowing that
I would find out the areas they had contradicted and
that I would examine them and put forth my arguments,
the logician Dignaga (Digh-naga) and Dharmakirti tactfully
    bypassed me.

In the field of writing, I am [next to none!] [In my eyes,]
Arya-sura was just good at spreading the works, which
are like ‘disputes~ between an insect and a field.’

I am the learned man. Peerless in the field of teaching,
    debate and writing!

For some this passage might sound utterly nonsensical, but the most learned master of our age, the talented teacher, logician and writer, the late tutor to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Yongdzin Trijang Dorjechang (Yongs-‘dzin Khri-byang rDorje-‘Chang), said: “Now, some people of our time, who consider themselves learned scholars, think that this is utter nonsense; but they are wrong.”

Panchen Sonam Dragpa Pel (Panchen bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal) wrote over 45 volumes of books dealing with many different subjects, such as the commentaries on the sutras and tantras, the saddhana manuals of the tutelary deities, history, religious history and so forth. Among these, one that is very important for all who wish to learn and meditate on the path-of the practical aspect of Buddhism in general and that of Vajrayana in particular is the Leg shey gyu de chi nam par shagpa kelsang gi yi trod (Legs bshad rgyud sde spyi’i rnam par bzhag pa skal bzang gi yid ‘phrod). In this book, he has explained precisely how the four tantras differ from one another. He has also fully described the stages of the two spontaneous path practices of the Vajrayana tradition, dealing with the ‘six ultimates’ and the ‘four modes of transmission’, thus interpreting without mistake the intention of Adhi-Buddha Vajradhara.

May the reprint of this text, which the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives is publishing herewith, bring peace and happiness in this world!

A Daily Request for Wealth, Peace and Protection

    Composed by H.E. Tsem Rinpoche

In the heavens there are myriad manifestations of the divine. All those manifestations specifically show us different aspects of divinity in order to be of benefit to all living beings. All the rupakaya forms of the divine have compassion, skillful means and wisdom. We invoke upon them whether we are happy, sad, down, lost, fulfilled, confused, empty, and during the whole range of emotions we constantly experience due to an untrained mind.

Understanding our nature, Great Wisdom Being Dorje Shugden, therefore all the more so, please hold us close to your bosom as an only child to a parent.

Though the manifestations of the divine need no offerings and gifts from us, we offer you supreme Manjushri Dorje Shugden a libation of tea, incense and mantras, in order to ask you to bless us, to be a part of our lives, to abide in our dwellings and to give us signs, omens and portents of both good and bad. When the negative arises, quell them immediately. Please increase the positive for my weary and worn mind as I lay my hopes in you.

When difficulties, problems and confusion arise, we ask you, who is but the culmination of all that is powerful, holy and omniscient to bless myself, family, loved ones, environment and even my pets. May I see wisdom, find hope, and be at peace.

I request you, O Divine Bhagavān Dorje Shugden, who wears a round dome hat and the three robes of a saffroned bhikshu, who wields a sword of liberty, justice and wisdom and clutches a wish-fulfilling jewel, who rides on a supreme lion of subjugation of all that is negative, to fulfill my wishes. I understand my wishes may not be the best, so I surrender to your wisdom for the outcome though it may not be what I have in mind. Please bless myself and everyone that we may enter into the supreme city of liberation.

Great Bhagavān Dorje Shugden, I request you sincerely from my heart to be a part of my life, bless my home, and grant me wisdom, solace and comfort, that I might be of service to others without agenda, and that I may focus out onto others and not be fixated on myself, creating more problems for all that I hold dear.

Bless me to become kinder, wiser, more compassionate, tolerant and very forgiving to all those who hurt and love me. In order to become close to you, Dorje Shugden, we must surrender the banal. We must abandon fixed views, projections and rigidity. Lastly, in my final moment when I leave this plane of existence, only the positive actions I have done will matter as everything and everyone will be left behind. Let me realise this and act upon this now! At this crucial moment, please may I have a vision of yourself, the powerful and merciful Dorje Shugden, to take me to where I may course in the sky to continue my journey of spiritual waxing.

I offer you saffron-coloured tea and my faith to fulfill my prayers and gain siddhis. By reciting your mantra, may healing, peace, love, long life, protection and perfect view of sunyata arise.

Mantra of fulfillment, peace and wisdom:

    OM BENZA WIKI BITANA SOHA

(It is good to recite this mantra daily as much as you like or your timing allows.)

I dedicate this supreme heartfelt prayer to the all-knowing Celestial and Supreme Protector Dorje Shugden, that I may quickly become a being of light, compassion, love and enlightenment.

Please play the audio included here to follow along with the prayer.

It is absolutely terrible how CTA had brought so much harm with the ban on authentic Dorje Shugden practice. As shown in this article, a supposedly “Rinpoche” (meaning precious one) could send death threats to another just for difference in practice. Curiously does he send death threats to like the Christians, Muslims or Hindus? They are practicing differently than him. Well, I certainly don’t see how precious he is and what more the arrogance to recognise himself. What happened to humble wisdom and compassion? But the death threat is real! He even named the two tantrikas who would perform the dastardly act. Wow! Isn’t this a criminal case? After all, the proof is there for public viewing. His is not only the first as our Guru, Tsem Rinpoche had received countless of abuses and threats, not only from lay persons but also from the Sangha (monks and nuns). All just for speaking up for the Dorje Shugden practitioners without voice due to the oppression of the Tibetan Leaders. All the pain and sufferings they had to suffer. Its such a shame that the practitioners of Buddha’s teachings, like this Rinpoche, could degenerate to this state and all stemming from the ban instigated by the Tibetan Leaders on unfounded claims. Pray that the Dalai Lama will speak up in compassion and remove this ban to reunite all practitioners in cordiality.

Thank you Beatrix for this really good article with clear explanations. May doubters of Dorje Shugden realise his enlightened state that simply has no karma to be destroyed or harmed. Dorje Shugden is Buddha Manjusri in form of a Protector to help us.

In the emerald forest there lies magical beings and powerful entities of old. There are beautiful gentle creatures of the forest such as deers, rabbits, owls and so on. Faeries, little people, elves, dwarves, trolls and other magnificent worldly and other-worldly beings of mystical origins who nurture and look over the natural world call this place their home. These supernatural beings, who remain hidden to ordinary view and are rarely seen together, have gathered to herald the arrival of the World Peace Guardian Dorje Shugden within the ethereal realm. Paying homage to the divine king they welcome him, the supreme being whose body shines with the light of magnificence and abides in benevolent wisdom. He who has come from the pinnacle of the celestial dimensions, he has the dominion over men and gods. All beings in this and other worlds have gathered to pay homage and to receive blessings, abundance and counsel.

Shugden the divine king, at last has drawn near,
He offers a new life so clear,
With a silent prayer he offers the golden stair,
Sing praises, does the emerald forest all cheer.

COMPASSION at its best: His Holiness the Dalai Lama explained in Ladakh, 31 July 2018:

“Usually at the beginning of an empowerment there is a ritual to drive away interferences. But I no longer feel it’s consistent to regard some beings as evil forces. At the start of each day I cultivate altruism, but in the evening we say, ‘May the evil forces be driven away.’ There seems to be a contradiction here that I’m no longer keen to comply with. I’m not highly realized, but I have great confidence in the power of Bodhichitta.”

    Source: https://bit.ly/2wVsqSb

    ———————————————-

This latest statement by His Holiness the Dalai Lama is excellent. I fully believe in his compassion and I hope he will fully implement it.

All negative beings take rebirth with negative minds due to deep attachments. The attachments result in negative states of rebirth and angry minds that carry out harmful actions, like spirits or hungry ghosts who can be very bothersome because they are very angry as they died in the state of attachment in their former rebirths.

Indeed we need to generate compassion towards these beings, especially the formless type, as it would be the best remedy to stop their harm. We can recite mantras with love and bless them with it. While reciting prayers, we can meditate on them being at peace. When we generate compassion towards these harmful interferences of the formless type, many of them will calm down and stop their harm and even go away. Some of them, you can talk to them and subdue their harm and they will stop harming completely if they feel your love. That is how you can help them.

Many high masters of India and Tibet generated great compassion towards certain ghosts, spirits or interferers and subdued them in this manner and even made them into protectors of regions. I’ve witnessed this with one of my lamas where he subdued a female spirit that crossed over the Himalayas. After making the spirit promise it will not harm others, my lama gave the spirit a drink to seal the promise.

Since the Dalai Lama has manifested saying Dorje Shugden is negative (although many high lamas disagree), then he can apply this method to Dorje Shugden. He can ‘subdue’ Dorje Shugden by generating tremendous love, prayers and talking nice to Dorje Shugden who will be ‘subdued’. Then people are henceforth ‘free’ to practice Dorje Shugden without more discrimination, segregation and being called degrading names for practicing this protector.

Give peace a chance. His Holiness the Dalai Lama can generate great love towards Dorje Shugden and all the hundreds of thousands of Dorje Shugden practitioners that love the Dalai Lama and miss him like I do. May His Holiness the Dalai Lama bring peace and heal the rift with Dorje Shugden practitioners.

May His Holiness live very long and always be healthy,

It’s hard to believe that a “Rinpoche” would want to hurt another being just because his choice of religion is different. This show how bad the Dorje Shugden ban has been influencing the mind of others and brainwashing them to have such a negative state of thinking. This shows the nature of the ban is not good and it will only create more problems and more harm instead of protecting claimed by CTA. It does not make any sense.

This “Rinpoche’s” threat to us is just another common example of what Dorje Shugden practitioners have to go through every day just because our choice of religion is different. The ban is doing more harm than good and everyone can see it. More and more people have started to doubt the ban on Dorje Shugden and secretly has been investigating more about Dorje Shugden. The ban has been much weaker nowadays due to the loopholes that everyone can see in the logic behind it. It will be gone very good and Dorje Shugden practice will become big in the future when it happens.

The religious divisions created by the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) over the practice of the Buddhist Dharma protector Dorje Shugden is now creating division amongst Bhutan’s Buddhist populace. Though historically, Bhutanese have practised Dorje Shugden as evidenced by some of the country’s greatest spiritual leaders having composed prayers to the deity, recent leaders saw no other choice but to ban the practice themselves. Tibetans have sought to forcibly overtake the country throughout Bhutanese history, most notably in 1974 when the Dalai Lama’s own brother was implicated in a conspiracy to murder the then Bhutanese monarch. And since that time, the Bhutanese have been extremely wary of Tibetan interference within Bhutan’s internal affairs. In an effort to minimise the implications of the CTA’s ban on the practice creating divisions amongst their people, the Bhutanese government themselves banned the practice with Bhutan’s borders.

This however has far reaching spiritual implications given the country’s historical practice of Dorje Shugden, and while Bhutan’s leaders imposed the ban to secure social harmony, the CTA’s reach has created only disharmony as seen in comments by both a nun and monk who threaten the lives of Dorje Shugden practitioners online. The CTA have corrupted Bhutan’s spiritual integrity and created divisions which the country’s leaders had sought to avoid but to no avail.

Doctrinal spat puts Bhutan’s “Happiness Index” at risk

An escalating conflict within Bhutan’s Buddhist community could risk depressing its much vaunted “Gross National Happiness Index”. With Buddhists making up about 75% of the population, the controversy has pitted supporters of an ancient deity against vocal opponents in what some observers claim is an artificial conflict stirred by opaque external forces.

Central to the dispute is the devotion of a section of Bhutan’s Buddhist community to Dorje Shugden, an ancient Tibetan Buddhist protector deity (Dharmapala) who has already been the focus of discrimination in the communities of Tibetan exiles in northern India and elsewhere. The Dalai Lama has spoken against the practice, effectively ostracising Shugden worship in the Tibetan exile communities, despite having once been a follower of the deity himself.

While Tibet’s spiritual leader has suggested that devotion to the deity fosters divisions among the exile Tibetan community, opponents counter that freedom of worship is enshrined in the constitution of the Central Tibetan Authority (CTA) — the Tibetan government in exile — and that the Dalai Lama’s de facto ban on Shugden devotion has itself created and accentuated divisions in the community.

In recent history, these divisions have certainly been exploited by external forces in their efforts to gain some regional sway: the West has typically seen support for the exiled Tibetans as an expression of opposition to China’s hold on the Tibet Autonomous region, and has often, openly and covertly, supported the Dalai Lama’s goals, both real and purported, in order to bolster its own geopolitical influence in Asia. It is no secret that the United States’ Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) backed the failed 1959 uprising against China in occupied Tibet which led to the Dalai Lama’s exile, and that both the spiritual leader’s brothers were paid CIA operatives.

On the other side, China’s political powers become have tended to verge on apoplexy at any suggestion that Tibet should have more autonomy or claim its independence, and they have sought to use the controversy over Shugden devotion to China’s own ends in order to undermine the global influence of the Dalai Lama.

Observers from across the Buddhist community have said this proxy battle has spilled over, and appears now to be taking hold in several countries in the region, including Bhutan.

The Kingdom of Bhutan, a tiny mountain nation nestling in the Himalayas between two giant neighbours, the Tibet Autonomous Region of China and India, prides itself on being the first nation in the world to use “Gross National Happiness” as a measure of national development, considering economic measures alone as an insufficient yardstick of successful policy. Visitors have reported, amazed, that the majority of Bhutan’s population genuinely appears to prize peace and harmony over material wealth and that in public policy, ecological considerations supersede commercial ones.

Bhutan’s constitution is largely based on the Buddhist faith and three quarters of the population are Buddhists, the majority descended from Tibetan migrants. The remainder are mainly Hindis of Nepalese origin. An absolute monarchy for much of its history, it was transformed into a constitutional monarchy in 2008 by its current sovereign, King Wangchuk, who thereby put a limit on his own power.

Though bordered by larger and infinitely more powerful neighbours, Bhutan, whose population is just 800,000, has never in its history been colonised, despite several attempts by Tibet over the centuries. While the British did exert some influence over the country through much of the colonial period, Bhutan has been largely free from external interference over the last centuries.

It appears that some Tibetans have never given up hopes for gaining control over Bhutan, even following exile from their own country. In fact in 1974, Bhutan’s government said it had discovered a series of plots to kill its then monarch that had been orchestrated by a group of Tibetans taking their orders from the Tibetan government in exile — the CTA — which had been based in northern India since the 1959 flight from occupied Tibet. It said the plot, allegedly headed by the Dalai Lama’s elder brother Gyalo Thondup, was in effect just the latest Tibetan attempt to take control of Bhutan[1].

It was the hope of heading off what were perceived as ongoing CTA efforts to destabilise Bhutan that prompted its government, in 1979, to require the minority Tibetan population to either become citizens of Bhutan or return to China-controlled Tibet. Although the CTA objected, about a third of the 6–7000 Tibetans in Bhutan at the time opted for citizenship, while the remainder resettled in India under CTA rule.

However, it would appear that CTA designs to gain a foothold in Bhutan did not end there, and that Tibet’s leaders in exile have continued to seek to destabilise the country in order to gain political influence there, introducing Shugden devotion as one specific bone of contention.

The Dalai Lama and others have said their antipathy towards the deity stems partly from the idea that Dorje Shugden, as protector of the Gelug tradition — the largest of Tibet’s four principal Buddhist traditions — promotes divisions among Buddhists.

Shugden adherents say devotion to Dorje Shugden is a long and established tradition in Bhutan, and that this is backed up by recently-examined texts written some two hundred years ago by Zhabdrung Jigme Norbu, recognised as the reincarnation of the lama who founded Bhutan, and by Drubwang Tenzin Zangpo, an earlier scholar who is still highly regarded among Bhutan’s Buddhists. By kowtowing to the CTA’s agenda, they say, Bhutan has to an extent abandoned its own traditions.

Furthermore, it would appear that the texts written by Zhabdrung Jigme Norbu and Drubwang Tenzin Zangpo refute claims that Dorje Shugden is a sectarian deity.

Even so, under apparent external pressure, including from the CTA, Bhutan’s government saw no other option than to issue an edict against Shugden devotion. As public debate on social media rages on, there are some opinions that Bhutan has taken steps to marginalise Shugden worship because it remains wary of CTA efforts to exert influence in the country and it is likely that the Shugden ban was in effect a pre-emptive step designed to eliminate the CTA’s ability to create problems by seeking to create a schism within the country.

A wave of acrimony followed the edict, as Shugden supporters protesting the undemocratic way their rights had been confiscated were met by an army of online trolls pushing the Dharamsala line. Not surprisingly, a prime target is Malaysian-based Tsem Tulku Rinpoche who posted a teaching on Bhutan’s Dorje Shugden legacy in his blog [2]. Dharamsala’s corruption of Bhutan’s spiritual integrity is reflected in the polemic attacks on Tsem Tulku carried out by what appears to be members of Bhutan’s monastic community. This is reminiscent of the CTA’s use of Tibetan monasteries to declare what is equivalent to jihads on Shugden practitioners. One Bhutanese Buddhist nun publicly called for Tsem Tulku’s early demise, while another monk brazenly declared having sent afflictive black magic to him. While these may be isolated incidences, it does reveal that the Dharamsala’s instructions have found enforcers in Bhutan, willing to breach Bhutan’s law to adminsiter the Dalai Lama’s edicts. This was clearly an unintended consequence, as the conflict risks damaging Bhutan’s Happiness Index, an important tool for the country to promote its “high quality tourism” industry.

Said one Delhi-based Shugden devotee, escalating attacks on the Shugden practice indicate that the peaceful haven of Bhutan has been in propaganda pushed by Dharamsala — the home of the CTA — allowing political propaganda to corrupt Buddhist spirituality. “It’s a mentality aligned with the philosophy of Myanmar Buddhists — that Buddhism and nationalism go hand in hand,” he said. “It’s a concept introduced and promulgated by the CIA in many of its proxy fights in the south-east Asian region in their efforts to co-opt spiritual Buddhism.” A tactic, he said, that the CTA in Dharamsala has willingly adopted. Bhutan’s Happiness index is currently paying the price.

This was posted almost a month ago. Surely, with our modern means of transportation, it should not have taken the “Ngagpas” long to reach Malaysia. Even if they could not afford modern transportation, true Ngagpas are more than able to find a way to “kill and condemn” Rinpoche. So, either this “rinpoche” is a liar or/and it is just as Tsem Rinpoche says; when you uphold your vows and samaya, you cannot be harmed by others AND Dorje Shugden is truly the protector of our time and shows this by protecting Rinpoche always without fail. But what do I know? I’m not a self-recognized rinpoche. I have no vows of any kind (not even refuge or the five lay vows). I’m lax and lazy in my practice. However, what I do know is when you abide in the dharma as your refuge, you can never go wrong. THAT, I know for a fact.

For the first time available, Dorje Shugden and his entourage of 32 asssistants of his mandala.

Dorje Shugden is a powerful protector deity who is also an emanation of Manjushri, a wisdom bestowing Buddha. Therefore, he has great ability to help us to progress further on the spiritual path. He does this by helping us to overcome obstacles and problems for the modern individual.

Due to his enlightened nature, Dorje Shugden is able to manifest 32 deities and within the same abode resides Setrap and Kache Marpo:-

    1. 5 Dorje Shugden families or emanations. They consists of the following:-

    – Dulzin Dorje Shugden, which performs activities to eliminate inner and outer obstacles.
    – Shize, which performs activities to pacify all illnesses and disease.
    – Gyenze, which performs activities to increase all desirable material and spiritual wealth.
    – Wangze, which performs activities to control difficult people and circumstances.
    – Trakze, which performs activities to wrathfully eliminate all insurmountable obstacles and life-threatening situations.

    2. 9 Mothers. They represent protection of the five senses and developing control of the four elements. These are all attributes that signify their ability to assist tantric practitioners with their higher meditations.

    3. 8 Guiding Monks. They represent the Eight Great Bodhisattvas (Avalokitesvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Samantabhadra, Maitreya, Kshitigarbha, Akashagarbha, Sarva-nivarana-viskambini) and they bring about the growth of the Dharma, through the Sangha, Dharma practitioners and Dharma establishments.

    4. 10 Youthful & Wrathful Attendants. They represent the ten wrathful attendants to avert inner and outer obstacles. They are beings who are from Mongolia, China, Kashmir, India, Bengali, etc.

    5. Setrap. He is a senior Dharma Protector from India and an emanation of Amitabha Buddha. He had enthroned Dorje Shugden as an authentic Dharma Protector. Therefore, he also resides within the same mandala of Dorje Shugden.

    6. Kache Marpo. He is not an emanation of Dorje Shugden but he is still an enlightened Dharma Protector in his own right. He was originally known as Tsiu Marpo of Samye Monastery. However, he has placed himself under the service of Dorje Shugden as his chief minister, performing many activities in order to protect and benefit practitioners. Therefore, he stands guard at the main entrance of Dorje Shugden’s mandala. He often takes trance of qualified mediums to speak.

    7. Namkar Barzin. He is the reincarnation of an old Mongolian monk and when he passed away in Phari area of Tibet, his spirit was placed as a powerful assistant of Dorje Shugden. He guards and protects buildings and great institutions especially those that benefit others. He rides on a mythical Gyaling animal that resembles a goat but with scales.

These sacred images are available on *Vajrasecrets. They are made of high quality alloy and are one of a kind. They are based on the lineage of His Holiness Panchen Rinpoche’s monastery, Tashilhunpo in Shigatse, Tibet. In fact, the iconography of these statues are based on detailed photographs taken by H. E. Tsem Rinpoche during a trip to Tashilhunpo’s protector chapel. These are based exactly as the 10th Panchen Lama’s personal collection.

It’s shocking to have a so called “Rinpoche” cursing another Rinpoche and wanting to send a sangha member to hell. A real Buddhist do not handle situation with anger, hatred and violent. That is just so wrong for a person to be so evil towards another person just because he or she has different belief.

Also no democratic country will ever discriminate the people’s choice of religion except CTA. They openly discriminate Dorje Shugden practitioners in their website and notices in public areas. All these have to stop.

May Dalai Lama help to mend the situation and lift the ban on Dorje Shugden. And the Tibetan people can unite.

This is the embarrass news . This ” Rinpoche ” is thinking to talk this way becos due to Tibetan government making some problem for the Shukden people. I m not practice to the Shukden but my thinking is this way is not good for the Tibetan independent . Is not our Tibetan way to talking this things to other people for the jindak also to see . The Tibet society is small we cannot fight to each other. Dalai Lama asking to us love to the other people n unite for the Tibetan . Sorry la to this Khenpo is the fake one . I m v shame to this.

This is really shocking to know a so-called Rinpoche from Bhutan wrote such a nasty comment and even threatened to kill Tsem Rinpoche by using black magic. As a Buddhist, we take refuge in the three jewels, we don’t use black magic. This Rinpoche should know it very well, but since he doesn’t, most likely it is because he is just a self-proclaimed Rinpoche.

The harm the CTA has done to the Dorje Shugden practitioners is not limited to the Tibetans in India or Tibetans, it also affects Dorje Shugden practitioners who are not Tibetans. One very good example is the students of Tsem Rinpoche in Malaysia. The Malaysian students of Tsem Rinpoche are labeled as a Chinese spy and they are also being insulted for practicing Dorje Shugden.

Because of the ban, people don’t look at you as a person but they judge you based on your faith. Tsem Rinpoche has done so many good deeds, benefited so many people but as soon as people know he is a Dorje Shugden practitioner, he is labeled a spirit worshipper regardless. The ban has created so much hatred and conflict between people, it is really unnecessary.

His Holiness the 10th Panchen Lama

Tibetans commonly refer to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama as the “sun and moon” of Tibetan Buddhism. They are the center of Tibetan Buddhist civilization, which draws to its sphere of influence millions of non-Tibetan practitioners. The Panchen Lama’s incarnation line began with the 16th abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen (1570 – 1662). He was bestowed the title of Panchen Lama by His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama after being declared as an emanation of Amitabha.

After being given the title, his three previous incarnations were posthumously also bestowed the title, making Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen the 4th Panchen Lama. He became a teacher to many Tibetans, Bhutanese and Mongolian religious figures, including His Holiness the 4th and 5th Dalai Lamas, and the 1st Jetsun Dampa of Mongolia. A prolific author, Chokyi Gyeltsen is credited with over a hundred compositions, including a number of commentaries and ritual texts that remain central in the Gelukpa tradition today. Along with his role as a teacher of the Dharma, the Panchen Lamas are usually responsible for the recognition of the rebirths of the Dalai Lamas, and vice versa.

The 10th Panchen Lama, Lobsang Trinley Lhundrub Chokyi Gyeltsen (19 February 1938 – 28 January 1989) continued both the spiritual and political roles of his predecessors. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, his contemporary, was even heard to say and echo the Panchen Lama’s own words that the Dalai Lama would safeguard Tibet from the outside while the Panchen Lama would safeguard Tibet from the inside, as he never left Tibet after the political troubles of 1959. He was truly loved by the Tibetans, all the way until his passing. When he taught, thousands of people would attend, not only from his own Gelug lineage, but masters and practitioners from all traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.

At his sprawling monastery of Tashi Lhunpo, he has a special chapel specifically dedicated to Dorje Shugden, where prayers and rituals are performed on a daily basis. In his great omniscience the Panchen Lama held Dorje Shugden as the principal Dharma protector of the monastery. He also personally propitiated Dorje Shugden among other Dharma protectors, and even wrote extensive prayers and rituals to Dorje Shugden. These rituals and prayers are contained within his ‘sung bum’ or collected works, which are provided here. As such a great lama, with an erudite and clear understanding of the Buddhist scriptures, a teacher to millions in both Tibet and China, from an established incarnation line and an emanation of the Buddha Amitabha, he could not be mistaken about his practice of Dorje Shugden.

His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama is known for his composition of commentaries and practice texts that are still in use by contemporary Buddhist practitioners both in Tibet and across the world. One of these is a powerful ritual composition propitiating the compassionate Dorje Shugden.

Upon the request by Acharya Lobsang Jangchub to compose a shorter version of the prayer (sadhana) for the exhortation of activities of Dorje Shugden, Panchen Lama immediately composed an abbreviate form of Dorje Shugden’s Kangsol. This text is entitled “Manjunatha’s (Tsongkapa) Lineage protector Dorje Shugden and five forms wrathful propitiations and confessional prayers and fulfilment of activities rites” or “Melodious sound of Accomplishment of the Four Activities” for short. Once the prayers were completed, he had signs and strong feelings that Dorje Shugden has been working hard to protect the Buddhadharma in general and the lineage of Lama Tsongkhapa specifically.

Mirroring the abilities of one of his earlier incarnations, Khedrub Je, a disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa and master of both sutra and tantra, the Panchen Lama used his compositional skill and poetic prowess to create a masterful sadhana. Worthy of note is a praise in which the first letter of each verse is a Tibetan vowel. Such compositions are rarely seen, and have historically only been used when propitiating senior Dharma protectors such as Palden Lhamo and Kalarupa.

The Panchen Lama also stated that while composing the Dorje Shugden sadhana (prayers) he was filled with a sense of happiness and bliss. He ends the composition with not only his official title but his ordination name, Tenzin Trinley Jigme Choje Wangchuk, endorsing the validity of his work. He composed the sadhana in his own Tashi Lhunpo monastery while in the Hall of Clear Light and Bliss.

It is really very bad to ask someone or anyone to go to hell. If he is really a “Rinpoche”, then he should understand this very well. As someone calling as a “Rinpoche “ who have practice Buddhism should not say such a word and declaring oneself as one. It’s a shame as a so call ‘Rinpoche’ who is not supposed to promote hatred. Dear Kecharians and friends,

Last night, I gave a teaching to a group of people who were in Kechara Forest Retreat. I shared with them the correct way to pray for our loved ones and why we shouldn’t “demand” Dorje Shugden with fulfilling our wishes but let Dorje Shugden decide what is the best outcome. He has infinite Manjushri wisdom beyond our own and we should trust this wisdom. Sometimes what we pray for is not what should be fulfilled. Sometimes what we don’t want turns out to be the better result in the future.

I also shared with them about a beautiful monk, Tsawa Pulthok Rinpoche, who was jailed and badly tortured by the soldiers for 19 years, starting back in 1959 in Lhasa, and yet he has no anger towards his torturers. He was released and had resettled in Nepal where I met him. For the remainder of his life, he spent his time in meditation, retreats and pujas for the public until he passed. He was glowing, happy and very proud of the fact he was a student of His Holiness Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche, which he told me when we met. He did full meditations on Vajra Yogini and short puja to Dorje Shugden daily in his small room in Kathmandu, Nepal where I had to honor to join in his prayers. He told me he was very happy to have his room to do his meditations, pujas and prayers openly. Whatever happened to him, he accepted as part of his karma and he spent much time in prison meditating and quietly teaching dharma to his other cellmates. He was very much respected in prison in Lhasa because he never showed anger, always meditated and consoled others, giving them great strength. He endured much hardship, torture and beatings but he never lost his monk vows. His full understanding of karma helped him not feel any anger or bitterness towards the soldiers. He told me that daily, he would meditate that the karma of others in prison would come to him. That all the torture and abuse he received was so others in prison did not have to suffer this. He said suffering for others was what kept him going and made him be able to endure the pain.

We are not bound by our experiences. We are bound by our choice. I also reminded those were present about the good person inside each and every one of us, and how we should not “bury” this good person with our excuses because the more excuses we give, the deeper this good person is buried and soon the layers of excuses will make it very difficult for us to find this good person. We are all beautiful good people and we should not let it get lost by lying, laziness, lack of integrity and procrastination. We all have a choice. If we have to make excuses, we should choose to make excuses to be a winner. When we win, we make ourselves happy and those around us happy.

The teaching session went well and it was spontaneous, and I requested the people who live and work in and around Kechara Forest Retreat for the talk. We had some good laughs to during the talk.

    Thank you,
    Tsem Rinpoche

‘If we trust in karma which exists, then there is no reason for anger’.

Buddha never taught rituals to harm other beings. He taught them to bring benefit to oneself and others. This so-called Rinpoche who threatens to use tantric rituals needs to re-read Ashvagosha’s Fifty Verses and brush up on the Lam Rim. As a Buddhist, in general, we should refrain from causing harm to others to the best of our capacity. Karma is subtle, and its effects can last for a very long time. Even if they do not agree with certain practices, it’s not their place to threaten. As a regular rational and normal human being if it’s not harming you directly, or is affecting you in any way or is none of your business in the first place you should just move on and pay no mind.

This reminds me of a situation, I like to use for an example. When someone is in a restaurant line up, the person in front of you is ordering a specific item for their personal consumption that is different from an item you are ordering, and you become irrationally angry for them ordering that item. That item has nothing to do with you, it will not harm you, they are the ones consuming the item. So why are you becoming angry? It makes no logical sense. That person is not ordering that item to harm you or spite you in any way.

So if a practice is given to you by your Guru you continue to do it till either A. You ask for permission to stop or B. Keep doing it till the end of your life if your Guru has already passed away.

I do pray this individual develops his wisdom and knowledge more in the future and refrains from attempting to harm others.

??? Thank you Rinpoche and Beatrix for sharing.

It is sad to see such comment in FB.
As a buddhist, one should not uses vulgar words or curse anyone yet is someone who has taken vow.

One should not have anger and hatred towards other practitioner.
They should maintain calm, patient and be mindfulness on their samaya.

Such doing is creating negative karma for themselves.
Even if they do not agree with the practices, they can have a debate in an ethical manner.

Pray that they may have wisdom and may their anger be subdue.
    May they have realisation.

“If the Dalai Lama, if His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by Dorje Shugden, then we might as well not practice Buddhism anymore. If His Holiness the Dalai Lama can have his life shortened by a so-called evil spirit, any evil spirit, then can he be Avalokiteshvara? So on one hand you say, we say, I say, everybody says, he is Avalokiteshvara; on the other hand you’re saying that he can harmed by an evil spirit… Which one is it? Can he harmed by an evil spirit or is he Avalokiteshvara? Do you think Avalokiteshvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Tara all take refuge in something else to protect themselves from Dorje Shugden? How illogical is that? How illogical of people to say His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by an evil spirit, any evil spirit or “Dorje Shugden” evil spirit. Dorje Shugden who have been propitiated by many high lamas for more than 400 years. If Dorje Shugden is a evil spirit as claimed by some, how can so many great lamas be wrong. The CTA have been using all sorts of dirty ways to ban the practice. Shocking to read those comments by practitioners of anti Dorje Shugden practice. And even left an extremely hateful, shocking and very violent threat on Tsem Rinpoche without verify the truth . That’s bad and it reflects the reality of the discrimination against Dorje Shugden practitioners.

The Dorje Shugden ban is really unnecessary. It has caused so many conflicts and disharmony among people. Tsem Rinpoche has been a very good Buddhist teacher, he shares a lot of free Buddhism resources online and gives away many blessed items to people. His charity organisation, Kechara Soup Kitchen has been assisting the Malaysian government to help the homeless and the underprivileged.

But, because Tsem Rinpoche is a Dorje Shugden follower, people don’t look at the good works he has done, they insult him and make personal attack on him, some even threaten to kill him. All this is because CTA has been brainwashing them. CTA spent a lot of money to write books or make videos to criticise Dorje Shugden and Dorje Shugden followers. But, what most people don’t know is, CTA is using Dorje Shugden as a scapegoat to cover their failure in Tibet Cause. Just think, which refugee still remains a refugee after 60 years?

I really hope people can be more open to listening and to do the investigation before making any conclusion. Even if someone is wrong, no one should insult or threaten to take their lives. We are civilised people, civilise people don’t do that.

It is just so wrong to use Buddhist tantric rituals to harm another person, more so another fellow Sangha. Instead of using his “tantric powers” to hex Tsem Rinpoche, wouldn’t it be better to use that and send Dorje Shugden to someplace better or to bind him so that he will not disturb anyone else? By cursing Tsem Rinpoche, it still does not solve the problem because Dorje Shugden will still exist.

1st guru dorje drollo is not a protector. Guru dorje drollo is a yidam. Should never treat it as protector. The dorje shugden should be lower or should i say switch place with dorje drollo. Guru dorje drollo is an emanation of Guru Padmasambhava. No offence, i do respect dorje shugden too.

    • A friend on Jul 27, 2018 at 2:18 pm

      To Dan,

Guru Rinpoche can be a guru, yidam and or protector. He can manifest differently for different occasions, karma and sentient beings’ needs. So definitely some do take Dorje Drolod as a protector as well as some others take Dorje Drolod as a yidam. How Guru Rinpoche manifest is where he is placed on a thangka. It is up to the individual. Thangkas are very personal and individual. No right or wrongs ultimately. 🙂

For example, Saraswati is a Buddha and when she manifests as one, you place her at the appropriate ‘higher’ slot on a thangka. When Saraswati manifests as a protector (Pelden Lhamo), then you place her in the slot/space of a protector which is at the bottom part of the thangka below the yidams.

Since Dorje Shugden is Manjushri, he can be guru, Buddha, Yidam and or protector. So he is placed accordingly.

But on the ultimate level, since they are all enlightened, it is not wrong to place them anywhere on a thangka as all enlightened objects on a thangka is to be respected and worshipped equally.

Listening to the chanting of sacred words, melodies, mantras, sutras and prayers has a very powerful healing effect on our outer and inner environments. It clears the chakras, spiritual toxins, the paths where our ‘chi’ travels within our bodies for health as well as for clearing the mind. It is soothing and relaxing but at the same time invigorates us with positive energy. The sacred sounds invite positive beings to inhabit our environment, expels negative beings and brings the sound of growth to the land, animals, water and plants. Sacred chants bless all living beings on our land as well as inanimate objects. Do download and play while in traffic to relax, when you are about to sleep, during meditation, during stress or just anytime. Great to play for animals and children. The concept of rebirth has a long association with Buddhism. Rebirth in Buddhism refers to the teaching that the actions of a sentient being lead to a new existence after death, in an endless cycle called saṃsāra. One will begins a new life in a new body that may be human, animal or spiritual depending on the moral quality of the previous life’s actions. What they are reborn as depends on their actions in their previous life rather kamma. As a Buddhist we should believe in rebirth but still many people don’t . Buddha taught us that choices of rebirth make a difference and can shape many lifetimes. Buddhists believe that nothing that exists is permanent and everything will ultimately cease to be. There is a belief in rebirth

Against the odds two inspiring nuns fought all the way to become ordained, fighting for their rights to practice Buddhism . Interesting read of how they went through , bringing equality for women in Thailand. Buddhism is the predominant religion in Thailand. Officially, only men can become monks and novices in Thailand under a Buddhist order. The country does not recognize female monks or novices. In recent years, more Thai Buddhist women seeking to become full-fledged female monks, have been defying the tradition getting ordained overseas, in Sri Lanka or India. Buddhist women have been fighting for years for equality and social acceptance in Thailand. They just can’t be ordained by Thai monks. Ven. Dhammananda, 68 year old former university lecturer and activist became Thailand’s first Theravadin bhikkhuni after going the odds. Inspiring read biography on Ven. Dhammananda and Ven. Dr. Lee. They had gone through great hardships, discrimination and against the many odds in bringing equality to women in Buddhism in Thailand.
Thank you Rinpoche for this great inspiration post.

The unseen things are spiritual realities that are eternal and invisible to our physical eye. There are many forces and phenomena that are not visible to the naked eye. There are many things that humans cannot see yet there are some could see. For what is can be seen is only. Things do exist even we can’t see, believing their existence is our choice. Things that we can’t see in the world opens up a curiosity and exploration by some. Whether through scientific inquiry, or spiritual exploration, the pursuit of knowledge about the unseen can lead to profound insights about ourselves and the universe.
Malacca City is the historic capital of the coastal state of Malacca, in Malaysia serving as a link between east and west for over 500 years. Famous for breath-taking sights with rich heritage, ancient dark culture and history with many old centuries buildings with an interesting past and a colourful ghost story. For that reason alone it is worth visiting as is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site owing to its well-preserved historical center. There’s many historical mansions been passed down generation to generations and with many ghostly sighting by the locals and visitors. There’s the reason many unseen beings loitering and attached to these places. Such an interesting and incredibly creepy watching the video in this blog host by Li Kim. Li Kim had done a great work all along with her team to share with readers about our historic Malacca .

Vajrayogini symbolizes the wisdom of all enlightened beings and embodies the impulse of inspiration that drives the Buddhas to attain the perfect enlightenment. Vajrayogini is one of the most effective practices for people today. We can make offerings such as gold or jewel offerings and so on. The offering of gold helps us to collect merits, spiritual attainments, gain a deeper connection to Vajrayogini. It also creates the causes to attain a Buddha’s body.
Make Offerings to Vajrayogini in Kechara Forest Retreat at Bentong is such an meritorious way for us to collect merits. All thanks to our Guru having conceptualised the idea of having a statue of Vajrayogini for everyone . Recitation of Vajrayogini mantra can be a powerful tool for self-transformation, healing and liberation from samsara.

Thank you, Rinpoche for sharing this insightful article. Life is short, and if we enjoy every moment of every day, then we will be happy no matter what happens or what changes along the way. What ever matter to us at the time of death is nothing. In the end, it’s not the years in our life that count it’s what you leave behind that matters. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again.Death is the golden key that opens the palace of eternity. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time. Learning Dharma and practicing dharma is the our choice that’s matter. Some of the key points to take notes, read, study the Lam Rim and apply it, engage in Sadhana daily and consistently. No one will help us at the moment of death but ourselves. Spiritual practicing is the best choice.

Well the size of Buddha statues in Tibetan Buddhism is important because it represents the Buddha’s immense ability and vast knowledge. Hence the Buddha statues hold the symbol of satisfaction within, peace and happiness. They are a symbol of inspiration for every human being. When we focus on the Buddha statues, it gives us inner peace that our mind, our heart and our soul gets enlightened.
We have are so fortunate seeing and circumambulating where the 9-foot Dorje Shugden statue and with 500 mantra stones engraved with Dorje Shugden’s sacred mantra. As Rinpoche had said before the bigger and more Buddha statues helps in planting seeds of enlightenment in people’s mind-streams. It also help us to generate as much merit and purify as much karma as possible. Merely by seeing all those big statues at Kechara Forest Retreat is a blessing.
    Thank you Rinpoche.

The 4th Tagpu Pemavajra Jampel Tenpai Ngodrub, most commonly known as Tagpu Dorje Chang, was a highly accomplished yogi Highly attained lama who had many authentic visions of the Buddhas and even travel astrally to receive direct teachings from them. His recognised line of incarnations stem all the way back to the 14th Century. He is generally regarded as such amongst Gelug lineage holders. He spent most of his time in a hermitage located above Sera Monastery, gave teachings and transmitted many vital practices and lineages to his foremost student Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche. Besides receiving the complete instructions of Dorje Shugden’s practice, Tagpu Dorje Chang had many other mystical experiences throughout his lifetime. Interesting read biography of a highly accomplished mahasiddha lama.

n Tibetan culture, it is a popular and customary practice for families to invite monks to perform spiritual ceremonies such as Trusol rituals. The monks have had the opportunity to offer such ceremonies for individuals or their families. Such ceremonies purify the elements of the environment which helps those living or visiting there to experience good health, success and well-being. The sacred ritual of ‘bathing’ the Buddhas and consecration through which negativities, sicknesses and obstacles will be cleared. Where by filling those areas with positive energies and good vibes through this Trusol consecration puja. Water is an essential part of this puja and symbolises the cleansing of all negativities and impurities. Through this puja it also pacifies local deities and other unseen beings in the surrounding areas. We are indeed fortunate that Tsem Rinpoche has taught Kecharians this practice and it has benefited many.

Reading this post had me gain some knowledge of Shifter Werewolves. Any article regarding rare creatures or paranormal articles are of my interest since young. In European folklore, a werewolf is a man who turns into a wolf at night and devours animals, people, or corpses but returns to human form by day. They have the ability to transform from an ordinary human appearance to a partially-lupine form with pointed ears, mutton chops, claws and fangs, and a ridged brow . Wow… werewolf tends to be vicious and unable to control his blood thirst. Their underlying common origin can be traced back to Proto-Indo-European mythology. In many depictions, these bloodthirsty beasts are evil where they kill animals and innocent people. They are humans who transition into wolf-like creatures, after being placed under a curse. In folklore, most werewolves originate from being cursed or bitten by another werewolf. That’s what they do believe. According many enthusiasts, there’s many different type of werewolves such as Alpha wolves, Beta wolves , Deltas, Elders, some survive as loners while others move in packs. How true it is no one knows. I do believe their existing . Many interesting stories related to these wolves in the past history.

Beautiful Dorje Shugden at Malacca. One should pay a visit there, located at a busy tourist place. It was such an auspicious occasion that a grand Puja was held there. Dedicated students and volunteers were there getting the place ready for the grand puja. Well the Grand Dorje Shugden puja was conducted by very own Kechara puja team to commemorate the chapel’s 3rd anniversary. Many people attended the Puja that’s wonderful to receive the powerful Protector Dorje Shugden blessings. More people will make a connection and get to know Manjushri, the Buddha of Wisdom, in the form of a Dharma Protector. May Dorje Shugden’s practice flourish to benefit those tourists and locals.

Venerable Geshe Rabten Rinpoche is a highly realised meditation master known as a debater, scholar, and meditation master, was the first Tibetan Buddhist master to introduce the complete Vinaya-tradition. He had also introduce the study of the five major topics of Buddhism to the West. He became the ‘path breaker’ of the complete and complex teachings of Buddhism in the West. Many masters, who are famous in the West today, were Geshe’s students. enerable Geshe Rabten. Geshe Rabten wrote the beautiful and Manjushri’s prayer called Gangloma and gave a profound explanation. We are so fortunate to learn about this Manjushri’s sacred prayer. May all be blessed by the practice of Lord Manjushri and Geshe Rabten’s explanation.

The begging bowl or alms bowl is one of the simplest but most important objects in the daily lives of Theravada Buddhist monks. The alms bowl still stands as an emblem of how all Buddhas, as numerous as grains of sand in the Ganges, practiced to end their desire. All those who receive the alms bowl should focus their mind to act with self-control and self-respect. Almsgiving is a tradition of Theravada Buddhists, majority in Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Laos. In those early days of Buddhism, monks would take their bowls and go out begging for food. As today in Thailand one could see monks woke up before dawn every morning and carried his bowl through the roads or paths wherever he was staying. Local people would place food in the bowl as a donation, through the generosity of lay people. They accept whatever food is offered for them and eat whatever been given, serve as a blessing for the giver.
One bowl has held the food of a thousand families. A solitary monastic travels on his journey of a hundred thousand miles seeking liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
Thank you H.E. Tsem Rinpoche for explaining the meaning of begging and gave us more reasons to be vegetarian . Create a awareness among us not killing animals to be one.

Ajahn Siripanyo, the son of billionaire Ananda Krishnan, chose to abandon his inheritance and become a Buddhist monk in pursuit of spirituality. A Thai-Malaysian monk born in London and educated in UK. He was ordained in Thailand and lived there, leaving behind a life of immense wealth and privilege. He did surprised many and his choice was unexpected. Initially as a temporary measure, but somehow later evolved into a permanent way of life. Ven. Ajahn Siripanyo is now the Abbot of hermitage Dtao Dam on the Thai-Burmese border in Saiyok National Park, Thailand.
He was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia years back giving an enthralling Dhamma talk on the timeless teachings of Ajahn Chah.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
