Question asked by Jamyang
Dearest Rinpoche, first I wish to thank you for everything you have done for both me and all the other countless beings in the universe. I wish to ordain as a monk. I have had this aspiration since a young age, even before I met the Dharma. Now I am 18, I feel I can take this step. Could you please give me (and those others who have the same aspiration) some advice on taking this next step in my life. Again, thank You Your Eminence, please continue to inspire and free all beings. Jamyang
Dear Jamyang,
Study up on the vows of a monk. Live like a monk for at least two years and act as if you are a monk. Train yourself up in that way before you take the vows. Then when and if you take your vows, it will be a effortless transition. This is similar to what my teacher advised me decades ago. I sincerely hope you become a monk and great practitioner. I wish you so much luck. TR
