Question asked by Rafael
Beloved Rinpoche!!
I have two questions: 1: I would like to help my mother become more spiritual for her benefit, but she doesn't like mediation or that type of stuff. Is there any practice I can give her/or me do for her to help her in this life and in future lives?
And: I feel torn between two possible paths for me. One I feel that I would truly like to become a monk, but at the same time I do not know if this type of path really is the best for me. I want to do what is the best for the most people, but do not know if secular life or monastic life is better for me. Any advice on how to figure out what is best for me?
Dear Rafael,
1. Just have your mother recite Green Tara mantras and work at a charity. Any charity of her choice. Make it easy for her.
If you wish to do practices for your mother (very nice), you may do the 21 praises to Green Tara daily and dedicate for your mother. Recite the prayer to Tara from the depths of your heart contemplating on your mother’s kindness.
2. Read up on the complete vows of a monk. Understand it and live your life as if you are holding the vows for 2 years. If you have no problems, then perhaps the monk path is good for you. Test yourself out in an honest way first by this method.
I am happy to hear you are considering ordination.
