The Miracles of Dorje Shugden

According to His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche, the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden arose to protect Lama Tsongkhapa’s sacred lineage of teachings. However, Dorje Shugden is more than just an ordinary Dharma Protector. He is an emanation of Manjushri, the Buddha of Wisdom. As an enlightened being he has great compassion for all beings. He has no preference or bias towards those he protects. This means that you don’t have to specifically be a practitioner of Lama Tsongkhapa’s Gelug tradition for him to help you. You can be of any Tibetan Buddhist tradition (Nyingma, Kagyu or Sakya) and propitiate Dorje Shugden. In fact, you don’t even need to be a Buddhist to invoke upon his special blessings and protection. He views all of us equally, we just need to call upon him for help.
The role and purpose of a Dharma Protector is, first and foremost, to protect the spiritual journey or Dharma practice of a sincere practitioner. It is not simply to overcome obstacles that we experience, as some mistakenly think. Dorje Shugden creates suitable conditions that make it easy for our spirituality to flourish. This can manifest in many ways, like connecting with spiritual friends or improving our livelihood which supports our material needs so that we can practise the Dharma. There are many possible conditions that he can manifest. However, if our requests to Dorje Shugden lead us away from spiritual values and practises, then our wishes will not come to fruition.
In addition, a Dharma Protector removes adversities and problems that may obstruct our path. These include bigger issues that have far-reaching consequences such as accidents, sickness, paranormal disturbances, financial crises, relationship problems, etc. If we practise Dorje Shugden consistently on a daily basis and keep our spiritual commitments, Dorje Shugden is able to hold back the karma of larger and more dangerous obstacles from fruitioning. This is so we can practise more, engage in retreats and other purification practices to remove these heavy negative karmas completely or, at the very least, experience them to a lesser extent so they don’t impact our lives much.

However, Dorje Shugden does not hold back all of our obstacles, because experiencing some small obstacles actually helps us in our spiritual practice to gain realisations. After all, the function of a Dharma Protector is to protect our Dharma practice. That is why the best prayers to Dorje Shugden are those that leave the outcome to be decided by Dorje Shugden himself. As an emanation of Manjushri, he knows exactly what the best outcome for us would be.
The Miracles of Dorje Shugden, presented here, are based on real accounts of 10 people who experienced the blessings and protection of Dorje Shugden. Their names have been withheld by their request. The graphic novel is meant to inspire faith in Dorje Shugden by recounting the various ways that he has helped others.
May this graphic novel and others like it, inspire even more people to become practitioners of Dorje Shugden so that they too can receive his incredible blessings and protection.
