Question asked by MK
Dear Rinpoche,
I pray for your good health and well being that you can continue to spread Dharma thru Kechara. I would like to ask whether it is necessary to pursue secret tantra practice in order to gain enlightenment? To prepare for Tantra, must one practioner finished the preliminary or can it be done concurrently after the empowerment? To me I do think preliminary is compulsary regardless of getting initiated for tantra as we are not suppose to aim for something when we practice Buddhism. I would like to hear your advise cause I do see many people are blinded by the goal of achieving highest tantra while forgetting the basic foundation of Buddhism. May Rinpoche guide me on this matter on how to start a good practice without expecting any initiation from the Guru while being a good Buddhist in not harming sentient beings..
Dear MK,
Thank you for your questions:
1. In order to cut time and save time, it is necessary to practice highest tantra for enlightenment according to Vajradhara.
2. You are right, preliminary practices should be done whether you are engaged in tantric practice or not.
3. If you are in tantric practice, then preliminary practice should be done concurrently if you want results from tantric practice.
Good luck to you.
