I really love this Buddha statue. The proportions on Him are so perfectly made. The head, eyes, trunk, arms, legs and posture are so incredibly well made. A must see Buddha when you visit Bangkok, Thailand. There’s an interesting background on this sacred Buddha. It was originally in Ayutthya (ancient capital of Thailand). It was covered in plaster during the war with the Burmese for fear the Burmese would steal this Buddha hundreds of years prior. While they were moving it, during the process, the crane broke and the Buddha fell and the plaster cracked. The local people working on the moving felt it was a bad omen and fled the scene frightened. The monk Abbot came to inspect on the sight the next day. Upon closer examiniation, he noticed under the plaster was a solid gold 15ft Lord Buddha Shakyamuni statue!!!! Everyone was amazed. It was plastered hundreds of years ago during the war Thailand had with Burma and everyone had forgotten generations later it is solid gold. Now this sacred Buddha is housed in Bangkok where everyone can visit, but the security in this Wat is tight. Do go and visit. It is worth your time and effort to be blessed by this ancient and sacred Buddha. Tsem Rinpoche
