In this episode, we have exclusive rights to film at one of the most exotic locations in Malaysia at night: The Dhammikarama Burmese Buddhist Temple.
Founded on 1st August 1803, the Dhammikarama Burmese Buddhist Temple is over 200 years old and is designated as one of the 15 Penang State Heritage Sites.
This Burmese Temple has a few halls, monks’ quarters, preceptee’s lodge, Sunday school and a library. Famous for the 8.2 meters standing Buddha statue within its main shrine hall, many protectors guard the temple grounds.
Upon exploration, we discover the Arahant Upagutta shrine. Arahant Upagutta is stated to posses the power to overcome all obstacles… and infamous for exorcising evil spirits and ghosts…
Watch to see how floating heads, cookie crumbs and land deities all relate to each other…

Addendum
Spirits have no definitive form and just like humans, some may be benevolent and some malicious. They are trapped by their negative karma, hence they exist as spirits for thousands of years. Only when their karma is exhausted can they then take a new rebirth into another existence. A malicious spirit can attach itself to us, causing interferences or harm, such as accidents, negative dreams and in some severe cases, even death.
Dorje Shugden’s practice, especially in the form of Trakze, is efficacious for overcoming negative and harmful energies. This practice also offers protection from negative speech, negative mantras, spells or charms, sudden deaths and fatal accidents. To learn more, please click here.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing and explanning about those powerful shrine. And stories of floating heads.Err….scary sounds but interesting.
Dear Rinpoche, this temple is so familiar. I think I saw one temple that has the same structure as the one that I saw at Bangkok and I also like the structure of the temple. My favorite Buddha statue in the whole temple which the oldest Buddha statue in the temple. The statue is really beautiful. And Rinpoche’s story is really creepy, especially the part where Rinpoche’s old neighbors saw floating head outside the window.
Dear Rinpoche, the floating head you talking about maybe one of the black magic practice by local Black Medicine Man. At night when the medicine man is asleep, his head would detach from the body and flying around looking for food.
The village folks describe the Floating Head as a head attached with the spine bone with all the human inner organs, eating blood and flesh of pregnant women, babies or farm animals. Afraid of thorny fence or plant cause it may hurt its delicate organs.
A ghost is said to be the soul or spirit of a deceased person or animal appearing in a blurry visible, or secondary-image form. Apparitional appearances of such forms are quite common to some, especially for those in trances or seances, and many especiiallly the gamblers who used them to forecast 4 digit lotteries numbers. Some are said to have gained some lucky strikes, and in return made exhorbitant offerings – but those who experienced unexpected return of repercusived demands, are best left untold! Some houses, are known to haunted, are said to be inhabited by spirits or ghosts, who were perhaps former residents who had violent, suciadial or sudden death, that the spirits or souls were not “released” and believed to be still trapped inside the property, where energy of the deceased still remained attached to their favoured property. As cautioned by some the so-called expert mediums or seances who remarked ” to be in a place where others have died, subjects you to ‘forces’ beyond your control!”
Again many thanks to Rinppche for introducing to us this fabulous burmese temple in Penang and the attractions within I could actually visually little kids like ‘tiny monster’s jamming up Upagutta’s shrine when their exams are near lol.

I wonder if the land gods were helping themselves as no one offered to them ?
Hahaha I was one of those little kids jamming up Upagutta’s shrine when my exams are near . My parents would take me there to make offerings and pray for good results.
It sounds to me like it was a supernatural being eating your cookies, If you think about it as you have said it is not like you to eat while sleep walking, and the floating heads left your “across the way” neighbor alone after you all had done the offering. So to me, the evidence points toward the supernatural.
