Buddha’s Qualities
Ithipiso Bhaghawa Arahan (Buddha is called ‘Arahan’, since he is suitable to accept all offerings),
Samma Sambuddho (Buddha is called ’Samma Sambuddha’ since he himself has realized the perfect truth),
Vijjacharana sampanno (Buddha is called ’Vijjacharana Sampanna’ since he is full of absolute knowledge & virtue),
Sugatho (Buddha is called ‘Sugatha’ since his word and act is righteous and wholesome),
Lokavidu (Buddha is called ’Lokavidu’ since he knows everything about the world),
Anuththaro Purisa Dhamma Sarathi (Buddha is called ‘Anuththara Purisa Dhamma Sarathi’ since he had the power to restrain the disobedient more than the others),
Saththa Devamanussanan (Buddha is called ’Saththa devamanussanan’ since he was the greatest educator to both humans and heavenly beings),
Buddho (Buddha is called ’Buddho’ since he realized the four Noble Truths),
Bhagawathi (Buddha is called ‘bhagawa’ since he has destroyed all demerits in life)
Dhamma’s Qualities
Swakkhato Bhagawatha ( Buddha sermonized Dhamma perfectly)
Dhammo Sandittiko (We should see it through our own intelligence)
Akaliko (Gives results without delay)
Ehipassiko (It has great qualities which could be shown to others)
Opanayiko {It frees us from the frightening “Life – death circle” (Samsara) and takes us to the eternal bliss (nirvana) }
Pachchaththan wedithabbo vinnuhithi (The wise should see it from their own efforts)
Sangha’s Qualities
Supatipanno Bhagawatho Sawakasangho (Buddha’s disciples observe the great Dhamma perfectly)
Ujupatipanno Bhagawatho Sawakasangho (Buddha’s disciples follow a straight road to the eternal bliss “Nirvana”, by entering the ‘middle path’)
Gnayapatipanno Bhagawatho Sawakasangho (Buddha’s disciples follow the Noble Eightfold Path properly to find the ultimate truth, Nirvana)
Sameechipatipanno Bhagawatho Sawakasangho (Buddha’s disciples behave obediently and disciplined, according to the Buddhist Vision)
Yadidan Chaththari Purisa Yugani Atta Purisa Puggala Esa Bhagawatho Sawaka Sangho {Buddha’s disciples are, namely, four pairs of persons (four noble qualities) and eight individuals (eight characteristics) of liberation}
Ahuneyyo (Worthy of receiving offerings of all four types; namely, food, drink, clothing and shelter)
Pahuneyyo (Worthy of receiving offerings set aside for special guests)
Dakkhineyyo (Worthy of receiving offerings offered with the belief that the offering would bear fruit in future existences)
Anjalikaraneeyo (Worthy of receiving reverential salutation)
Anuththaran Punnakkeththan Lokassathi (An incomparable fertile field for planting meritorious seeds, for the benefit of the world)
