Joy is a long-time student of His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche, she is a talented girl in arts, and has painted many fabulous Buddha statues for Rinpoche in Tsem Ladrang. Sometime last year, Rinpoche warned Joy that she would have a serious car accident, and wanted her to stay around so that she would be protected. True enough, Joy had a car accident a few days ago, her car lost control and spun twice before slamming hard on the ditch, landing on the driver side where the window was smashed…but somehow Joy escaped with just some bruises on her arm!!! Read on…

A tragic accident that could have taken my life…

This was just 4 days ago as I was driving up to KFR… my car lost control on the highway, turned 360 degree twice and I slammed in to a huge ditch. So what was going through my mind as I spun around twice… I knew I was going to be hit and everything was going way too fast, so I just closed my eyes and thought of Tsem Rinpoche, my Guru (and Protector as one).

I opened my eyes and realised that my window was completely smashed… and my head was cushioned by my laptop bag!! This is no ordinary laptop bag as Rinpoche just 2 nights ago gifted me with a new laptop (no the laptop was not in the bag). So how on earth did this bag so coincidentally flew, so accurately from the back of my car seat to the front to protect my head from being smashed? I basically climbed out with a few minor scratches on my right arm. That was it!

What would have happened if I had no Dharma… No Rinpoche? No new laptop with bags? How did Rinpoche know??? How did Rinpoche prepared me? I do not know, but I do know for sure… this is the 3rd time my Lama has saved my life from a tragic car accident. They say just from one’s faith in the Guru, one will be protected and gain tremendous blessings and attainments as He is kinder even more then the Buddhas of the past. He is the living Buddha for you… and now I can swear this is TRUE based not just on my “faith” but for the many times I’ve cheated death recently.

With folded hands and humbly grateful to Rinpoche… for if not I will not live to tell this tale today. May I never be separated from my Lama in this life and in all future lives and to always continuously serve my Lama and the Dharma whole heartedly for everything else is but impermanent like a dream, a mirage, samsara swallows you whole…

Joy

Thank you, Joy for sharing this incident with us, and by doing so, show us that the tremendous power of faith and trust in the Guru. Just by looking at the photos of the wrecked car sent a chill down my spine. Many people suffer much more from an accident like this than just scratches here and there. I am glad that Joy came out with minor scratches and that she was ok. May she always be the light to others to increase the faith in our Guru.

Hi, Joy! Thanks for sharing your amazing story. Am a great believer of everything happens for a reason. Just like how you got laptop as a gift from Rinpoche. It was meant more than just for work.:) Glad that you are alive to share your story here.

  9. Pastor Chia on Mar 7, 2013 at 1:30 am

I can totally believe regard what hapening Joy has experience the car accident. It happen to me before few years ago. Rinpoche has warned me to be careful about car accidentmany time. I experienced 5 time car accident during that particular year. Without protection from Rinpoche and protector blessing. I won’t be here today. It ready important we must listen Rinpoche advice to do something to purify our negative karma before it manifest.

  10. Cliff on Mar 5, 2013 at 7:58 pm

I’m so glad Joy is safe. Rinpoche has always been there for us and protected us. It is wonderful to know that in the midst of joy’s accident she was thinking of Rinpoche and the protector as one before the car landed on the driver’s side, most people would have selfishly thought of themselves, their lives coming to an end and that they would depart from their worldly possessions, but Rinpoche has given us the dharma and have prepared us not just physically but mentally as well. If not for Rinpoche we would be living very different lives. Thank you for sharing your experience and I’m glad you’re safe.

It is amazing for me to learn that Joy can escape car accident of this magnitude with only few scratches on her hand. I am glad that Joy is fine.

Rinpoche has warned Joy about this upcoming accident last year and again gave her a laptop bag just 2 days before the accident. Rinpoche knows that something is coming, yet maybe He needs to let it happens anyway because this is our karma.

Thank you Joy for sharing this true account of yourself so that we can all learn the importance of heading guru’s advise.

  12. HelenaC on Mar 4, 2013 at 4:03 pm

OMB OMB!!!!! It is really a miracle!!! It is so amazing that the accident caused no harm to Joy!!! And the most amazing is Rinpoche knows 🙂 We must do more Dharma work to accumulate more merits to ourselves so that we will always be protected by our Guru and protector. Thank Rinpoche and Protector for saving Joy’s life!!

It’s very lucky that Joy is totally fine and still standing perfectly next to us today, a lot of people who went thru this kind of car accident might not that lucky like Joy.

This road is not a small road that not much car will pass by, Joy’s accident point it’s located in the middle of a highway that connected KL to Kuantan (2 major city of Selangor and Pahang), thousand of car will passed by this road with high speed. If there’s a car coming from the back when Joy’s car is spinning, the result will be worst.

Accident could be a type of purification or maybe a sign of our bad karma catching up. No one can stop our bad karma catching up, not even Buddha himself, so how Rinpoche help in this situation?

When one is serving the dharma, taking refuge under a guru and the three jewels, we are in the process of purified our bad karma and generate more merits to open up more good karma. Based on the merits that collected from Joy’s work this few years, she is safe now. Based on the merits Joy collected, she is able to have a guru who give her advise before bad thing happened on her, based on the merits she collected, she just have minor hurt in this serious accident. Also because of her merits, Joy able to purified her bad karma which could took away her life.

Rinpoche have gave us a lot of advise we should contribute to dharma in whatever way we can, it’s not bacause Rinpoche will get anything from us but we will be able to help ourselves when it’s needed.

Thanks Rinpoche for the blessing and we could have joy still with us today.

    Thanks
    Bryan

Look at the car situation, people will think that the driver may have vital injury,it is really incredible that Joy only have few minor scratches. with good samaya with Rinpoche, Joy have create a good karma and merits to able receive Rinpoche’s protection..i agree with Sharon comment “we must constantly work on purifying our negative karma, accumulating merits and most importantly, to keep good samaya with our Guru. “

  19. Lisa Leong on Mar 1, 2013 at 11:29 am

This story or miracle reminded myself again to keep good samaya with my Guru…constantly do our practice or dharma work sincerely to accumalate good merits and at the same time purify our bad karma.

  20. uncle eddie on Feb 28, 2013 at 4:20 pm

As stressed, without pure Dharma practice and realisations, we have no real spiritual protection from danger, harm and sufferings. Therefore, we definetly need to develop an unchangeable wish to practice Dharma purely. By practising Dharma enthusiastically, it makes our Dharma strong, powerful, constant and pure, which will also pleases our Guru too, and thus strenghten and increase our guru devotion! All such spiritual practices could have led Joy out of serious harms and injuries in that terrible and weird accident of hers with just a few minor scratches. Congrats to you Joy, please keep up the good practice! Thank you Rinpoche for all the usual great care and compassion you have for your students, friends and all living beings, especially animals too!

  21. Sean Wang on Feb 28, 2013 at 1:27 pm

Thank you Rinpoche for always being around us to love, care and protect us! Rinpoche always does so much for us, regardless of whether we know it or not. I personally received so many gifts from Rinpoche. Rinpoche always shows care towards anyone, even those who have not shown any form of gratitude. Rinpoche’s compassion is indeed superhuman in nature.

Joy is a great example of Rinpoche’s care and how a samaya held with constant care and awareness can save one’s life. The accident was going to happen because of previous negative karmas but it lessened the suffering caused thanks to Rinpoche and Setrap.

  22. AdelineTan on Feb 27, 2013 at 5:29 pm

What Joy said is very true. What would have happened if she had no dharma and no Rinpoche? A tragic accident liked that would have taken her life. Because Joy has painted a lot of Rinopoche’s buddhas statues and followed the instructions of Rinpoche, she has collected a lot of merits and managed to escape serious injuries and stay alive, so Joy wishes never to be separated from her Lama in this life and her all her future lives, a wise decision she has made.

  23. Leann Lim on Feb 26, 2013 at 3:04 pm

  24. Davin on Feb 26, 2013 at 1:07 am

Glad that Joy is safe. It’s a miracle that she escaped with only a few bruises. Her strong guru devotion, practise the Dharma and faith in the Dharma protector have save her live. This is why we must constantly doing Dharma work, accumulating merits, purifying our negative karma and most importantly, to keep good samaya with our Guru.

  25. Angelshooi on Feb 25, 2013 at 11:57 pm

Thanks to Seng Piow for the posting.

First thing, when I saw in the FB, I thought of Joy, and Is she safe? I am glad that she is fine and with a few cuts and little bruises.

Yes, without Rinpoche and Protector’s blessing and protection, Joy might have injured badly or died. Joy is very fortunate to meet and receive Rinpoche’s blessing. Take care Joy!

  26. Darren Kechara on Feb 25, 2013 at 11:53 pm

Thank you Rinpoche & protecter! Any Rinpoche’s gift, be it presents or words of advice is very important. With strong faith in Dharma definitely everyone will get blessed and protected.

  27. Soon Huat on Feb 25, 2013 at 10:33 pm

Yes, we should trust our Guru and Protector. Their thought is beyond our understanding. We just believe and do what has been asked by Rinpoche and follow it with heart. We will realize the purpose one day and appreciate the guidance from Rinpoche.

  28. pavara on Feb 25, 2013 at 10:17 pm

    Wow!!!!!
It is so miraculous that Rinpoche gave Joy the computer bag to save her from the car accident.

Rinpoche must have known that Joy was going to have a car accident so Rinpoche gave Joy the computer bag to save her life. Another thing is that how did the computer bag fly from the back seat to the steering wheel? That is another sign to show that the protector is there.

After the incident when Joy was taken to the Bentong hospital everything happened so smoothly and there was no troubles or obstacle in Bentong. She is also lucky because there was no serious injuries or broken bones.

This clearly shows that if we have faith in our protector and our Guru, things can go on smoothly and well. If Joy had no guru or protector she would have already died from the accident.

This incidence tells us that our Guru always cares for us to make sure everything is alright. Thus we should have strong faith in our Guru and protector.

  29. Carmen K. on Feb 25, 2013 at 7:16 pm

Thank you for having this post up.

I personally ‘experienced’ this case. I do vividly remember Rinpoche warning Joy of a serious car accident that she would be facing sometime last year, and that she had to do Dharma work and watch her body, speech and mind to lessen the impact of this obstacle.

When I heard that Joy got into a car accident recently, I was startled. Seeing the photo shows how serious the car accident was..In any case, most would’ve walked away from the accident as bad as hers with much more than cuts and bruises on the arm. What was ironic was that Rinpoche gave Joy a laptop bag 2-3 days before her accident. Out of the blue! Rinpoche could’ve given Joy anything, like a soft toy, or statue, or mala, or cards, or artwork, but it was a laptop bag that was chosen…and it was this exact laptop bag that mysteriously cushioned her during her serious accident… How… miraculous.

I’m glad Joy lived to tell this tale, and may it too inspire others to have faith and trust in one’s guru. This is a true case of following the advice of your guru and reaping the benefits from it. The guru will do all he can to protect, bless, lessen and save you from all obstacles that you have created for yourself. May Joy also continuously learn, practise and listen to Rinpoche, so that she will be able to practise, learn and spread the Dharma for a long time to come.

Joyce was so lucky that she survived the car crash. She is so fortunate to meet Rinpoche, if she never met Rinpoche she might not be alive today. Just to share my own experience with U all,
my family n I join kechara in 2009 march. We are very fortunate to met Rinpoche in the same month where Rinpoche give us a teaching about oracle and setrap protector practice.
Through this teaching, I had faith with Setrap(that time I still don’t know to visualize guru n protector in one)
After few months( even I n my wife just do some helping in wesak fair, NOT CLOSE TO RINPOCHE TO DO FULL TIME DHARMA WORK), my mother safe from a gas explosion(nearly explore).
    我很惊讶煤气头已经燒熔了,竟然没爆炸。我萬分深信这是上師,護法的護佑。

When I heard that Joy had an accident and then saw the picture of her car in the ditch, the first thought that came to my mind was .. Is she ok? That looks bad!

Joy had landed in a ditch before and she also escaped unhurt.

Thank Buddha Joy escaped unscathed. A few scratches is nothing.

  41. Andrew Boon on Feb 24, 2013 at 2:45 pm

This is quite an incredible account… it is almost surreal seeing Joy after the accident after getting the horrific updates via whatsapp of the pictures of her car in the ditch. It somehow did not “match” but I was happy she escaped with just very minor scratches.

What we can certainly learn from Joy is the devotion she has for Rinpoche which undoubtedly keeps her safe.

We have to understand Rinpoche does not work on a whim or fancy, Rinpoche works on our karma and merits with him… Hence as students our samaya has to be clean and that we follow Rinpoche’s intructions to a tee for us to be “protected”.

One may ask, why is it that some students seemingly receive more? It is most certainly their merits and connection with Rinpoche from this and a previous life. However this is like money in a bank account, we cannot just bank on this alone… the merits need to be replenished or we may end up quite the opposite and our karma would inevitable pull us away from Rinpoche. Like I mentioned earlier, it certainly is not what Rinpoche would like but if we do not have the karma for Rinpoche to help us, we are left to our negative karma ripening.

How we replenish this merit account is to do Dharma work well and follow Rinpoche’s advice however mundane our deluded minds seems to think it is. There is nothing Rinpoche does without a reason!

  42. Jessica Yap on Feb 24, 2013 at 2:05 pm

OH MY!!! Thank Buddha you’re okay Joy! The accident looks scary. Luckily you were not tossed outta the car. And you’re also lucky to have Rinpoche and Protector to help you through this accident. You’re blessed in a way! Can you imagine if you were to get involved in an accident without the Guru and the Protector? I shudder at the thought of it! Thank Buddha you’re okay now! A few scratches in return for a life is okay. hehe
    Hope you’re keeping well, JoyJoy!

    Thank you for sharing, Rinpoche!

  43. Albert Ratchaga on Feb 24, 2013 at 3:23 am

Is this coincident? or is this the power of blessing? This is definitely a debatable topic as we never saw how an enlightened being blessed us, but what if this ‘coincident’ happen to a person few times and also happened to other people many times, is this coincident still or there is something behind that we need to realize?

The assistant who are around Tsem Rinpoche saw this miracle happened many times, this is due to Rinpoche’s extreme care and kindness. Rinpoche cared for everyone no matter who you are.

Joy is definitely very fortunate, because from Rinpoche and protector’s blessing, Joy got her life saved and just only a minor accident. I’m glad that Joy made it, it is a chance for us to continue into Dharma practice.

Her car lost control and she slammed into a ditch. She closed her eyes and placed all her faith and her prayers in Rinpoche and the Protector.

Next minute when she opened her eyes, she found that the window next to her had been completely smashed. Yet she was being cushioned by a laptop bag! No ordinary bag! It was the bag that held the laptop which Rinpoche had gifted her just two nights ago!

Joy’s experience of what could have been a fatal accident for her, proves yet again how important it is that one has Guru Devotion and clean samaya with one’s guru. Nothing is more important than Dharma practice and doing Dharma work.

I saw Joy yesterday in KFR and I was amazed that she had only minor scratches on her right hand. As if the accident didnt happen. Since I knew her, this is the second time I hear of her being in an accident. The first time was somewhere near Damansara. How truly blessed and protected you are Joy! You are right! We should always cherish, trust and surrender to our Guru as He knows best unlike us. As always, Rinpoche only want the best for us so that we can surrender and go all the way for Dharma and not take things lightly. Yours is one of the perfect example. You went all the way and received much blessings. And yes again, may we never be separated from the perfect Guru in all lives and always receive His unconditional love shown in many many ways! Am glad you are okay Joy!

I rejoice that Joy is still with us today. Our Guru’s compassion and care knows no bound. He is always looking after us and protecting us whether we know it or not. Joy has great merit to be able to think of Rinpoche (and Protector) when the accident was happening.

There are so many many miracles that Rinpoche has performed over the years and each and every miracle is truly amazing !
Reading the post on Joy’s accident and how she came out unscathed is totally miraculous !!!
I do not believe in coincidences , but i believe very strongly in Faith and Trust, which is what Joy has . Joy’s deep faith and trust in Rinpoche has saved her.
When we have the karma and merits to practise the Dharma and we have full faith and trust in our Guru and our Protectors, we will be saved at ALL levels ! In this lifetime and in our future lives.
I am so overwhelmed with relief that Joy is fine.
Thank you so much Rinpoche for always looking out for us, loving us and protecting us . Thank you Rinpoche for saving Joy.

I am sitting in front of Joy now and we have even been talking about her wedding a few years ago… it’s almost spooky that I can be sitting in front of her right now and she’s in perfectly good health, with only a slight scar on her arm. Any other accident like that – on a dangerously wet and winding road and with such a light car – would have been an instant death knell for most people. The miracle of her laptop bag cushioning her head seems far too coincidental to be just a coincidence; sometimes, you don’t believe in miracles until you see one right before your eyes.

I had written privately to Rinpoche about this accident and how miraculous it is that Joy got away with only a few scratches. Rinpoche replied, “For many, being near the lama will open up other good karmas inclusive of protection. It is important to make dharma our priority then the blessings will open up seeds and plant further seeds.”

I like what Sharon has said – that it doesn’t mean that we become invincible, but we have this opportunity to open up the good karmic imprints for us to remain always on the path and have all the necessary conditions to continue (health, safety, protection, material resources etc). The Lama opens up his whole life – home, teachings, support – for no one but us. For what he gives out to his students and for the incredible lifetime of protection, he gets back very, very little from us.

Looking at the picture of the overturned car, it’s a miracle that Joy escaped with only a few bruises. Joy has been one of Rinpoche’s long time student and her strong guru devotion and trust in the dharma protector has helped her collected the merits to be saved many times by Rinpoche.

Joy is a good example to show us how a Guru’s blessings work if we have strong guru devotion.

Why Guru Devotion is Important? – http://blog.tsemtulku.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/buddhas-dharma/gurus-for-hire-enlightenment-for-sale.html

  54. Joy on Feb 23, 2013 at 12:56 pm

All I can say is please please always listen to Rinpoche’s advice and instructions and follow it to a “T” and never take anything lightly or for granted and make excuses to to fulfill them. Rinpoche has reasons for asking us to do something. It is easier for Rinpoche to help and bless us if we listen without any form of resistance and just completely trust and surrender… surrender means let go of your own projected concepts… in other words your own reasons and excuses. Just follow 100%.

If you have met and Guru that can teach you the Dharma as directly as Rinpoche, treasure and cherish it with your life. Rinpoche does not need anything from us, but we need Rinpoche very much. Everything that Rinpoche has done for me, my family, Justin and His students and friends is always about how He can help or benefit them. Sometimes Rinpoche think for days to help his students and think of methods to make them wake up or encourage them to improve. EVerything Rinpoche has created and set up for us is ways to collect enormous amounts of merits and from there to understand Dharma. Those who are in Rinpoche’s mandala are so fortunate… it is likened to being a protected meritorious space. Rinpoche have told us many times if you think that you are entering Vajrayogini’s mandala everyday when you come in to work in my house, you will receive the blessing of Vajrayogini. If you think it is just an ordinary place then you will just receive worldly benefits and nothing more. So really it is your perspective, your understanding of Dharma and your merits to stay near or to leave the mandala… it is based on you. So do not take it for granted if you have this great opportunity… never trick and cheat yourself in to going to the lower realms… it is not worth it!

    • abby f on Feb 27, 2013 at 6:32 pm

Thank you Joy for sharing your own experience about what surrender to Guru means with us. What it takes is just follow the instructions and do it. And because of the faith Joy has with Rinpoche, Joy is OK now and she is able to continue with her Dharma work to help many. Joy has the merits to be saved by Rinpoche and the Protector as she works closely with Rinpoche for many years. Joy uses her talent to help spread Dharma which is very meritorious. We all are glad that Joy is fine.

  55. Jean Ai on Feb 23, 2013 at 12:50 pm

Like Joy said, this is not the first time Rinpoche has saved her from a car accident. But this is also not the first time ever that Rinpoche has saved her – over a decade ago, when Rinpoche first met Joy and her late husband Justin, Rinpoche also saved them from the hedonistic partying lifestyle they were leading.

I think what we need to realise is, Rinpoche doesn’t just save us physically in the way of preventing car accidents but also mentally. For all of us, our lives would be very different, and much worse off if we had not met Rinpoche. And understanding how Rinpoche has benefited us should motivate us to work even harder, to help Rinpoche grow in renown so that he can help others too…since at the present we ourselves cannot help others to the extent that Rinpoche can ease others sufferings, that would be the compassionate thing for us to do!

  56. hecelus tan on Feb 23, 2013 at 12:25 pm

If we see our Guru as a Buddha, then we received the blessing of a Buddha. So I think this is the essence of Vajrayana Buddhism.Like Joy,she can be safe from this seriously accident is all because of pure Guru Devotion. We should never ever have any doubt on our spiritual teacher because this may blocked the blessing from our Guru.Joy really is a good example that showed us how Guru’s blessing works.

  57. sarahyap on Feb 23, 2013 at 12:09 pm

It truly was a strange day when the accident happened.

All of us was already up on KFR and we felt uncomfortable that Joy have not arrived in KFR already. So David gave her a call to see if she is ok. Later I found out that David called her just moments after her accident, that she could not reach her phone as it flew out of the car. It was only a few minutes later after she crawled out of the car that she got hold of her phone and returned David’s call, and told us she had an accident. Immediately Li Kim mobilized 3 people to go down to Genting Sempah to help Joy.

When Joy returned to KFR after going to the hospital, (they did an X-ray just to make sure everything is ok) I asked Joy what happened. She told me that she was going down the slope and suddenly her car lost control. She knew she could not get her car in control at that moment, so she closed her eyes and think of her Guru and protector… The next thing she knew, she opened her eyes and found that the computer bag that Rinpoche gave her a few days ago protected her head. If you see the picture, the glass was shattered to pieces… how the computer bag ended up right next to Joy’s head, protecting her… now that’s amazing.

This is not the first time Joy had a major accident, and coming out of the accident with just scratches here and there. There was another major accident when she drove down a large drain and her car stopped just inches away from the concrete wall…

Joy is one of Rinpoche’s oldest students… she has been very close with Rinpoche for many years. If there was one person that she love and trust it is Rinpoche, without a doubt. Most of Rinpoche’s Buddha statues are painted by Joy and even the beads are done by her. To have such a tremendous merit to be close and serve one’s Guru, and at the same time to have such strong Guru devotion to one’s Guru… I believe it is from all her actions of following Rinpoche’s advice to her, which ultimately saved her life so that she can continue to do Dharma.

  58. philyong on Feb 23, 2013 at 11:43 am

This accident not only shows that Joy is safe and there are miracles..it also shows that Joy has transformed. She did not let her attachments take over hence she is safe as she walked out of that car with just a few scratch marks. There are Protectors or Guardian Angels or however you want to call them. These Protectors are always watching over us. But like Rinpoche always says, if we do not have the karma, no matter how much our Protector or Guru tries to help us, it will not work. Not that, they do not have the capability but because we do not have the karma to receive help.

Luckily for us, however we want our karma to be is entirely up to us. Basically, we choose our path. Good or bad karma, its all in our hands. I am glad Joy chose the good path that has ensured that she is safe always under the protection of Rinpoche and her Protector. Thank you Joy for also showing a good example to all of us.

    • henry ooi on Feb 25, 2013 at 4:25 pm

Yes, Phil, Rinpoche has taught this over and over again.

It really was a miracle after I saw only light cuts and bruises on Joy’s arms, hands and legs.

Our life can be so fragile and can be snuffed out in an instant.

  59. Sharon Saw on Feb 23, 2013 at 11:07 am

I must say that when i first saw the car in the ditch, i was quite shaken because it would have been a miracle for someone to walk away from it but Joy did! As you can see, she just had some bruises and scratches! I had fallen down the week before and i had more injuries than she did! This is truly the result of Joy’s refuge in Rinpoche which gave her the best protection anyone could have.

On a personal note, there was once when Pastor Susan and I were driving to Singapore and i messaged Rinpoche to let him know that we were leaving KL as was our usual practice, and he said have a good trip and remember to check your tires. He had never told us to check our tires before so Susan and I looked at each other and thought let’s pull into the next petrol station. True enough, our car’s tire pressure was almost dangerously low. So it was lucky that we had the good karma to receive Rinpoche’s advice and that we paid attention to it!

Of course it does not mean that if you are near Rinpoche and doing Dharma work that you become invincible. It just means that if you have the karma and merits to be safe, Rinpoche will do anything he can to ensure your safety. However, if we do not keep good samaya (relationship) with Rinpoche, then Rinpoche cannot help us. It is not that he does not want to help us but that our negative karma will stop him from helping. This is why we must constantly work on purifying our negative karma, accumulating merits and most importantly, to keep good samaya with our Guru.

    Joy,

    We’re so glad you’re okay!!!

  61. David Lai on Feb 23, 2013 at 10:56 am

This is one of many incredible stories of people who were directly and indirectly assisted by Rinpoche. There’s a whole graphic novel, which is just a handful of the amazing and dramatic ways in which Rinpoche assists people. The blessings of a lama comes particularly if we have merits created to help us.

Joy had been with Rinpoche for little under a decade now and she had been serving Rinpoche with her art, her dedication, prayers and hard work. She had her shortcomings like everybody else and it is through such powerful experience that it has changed her and she’s slowly but surely able to transform her shortcomings to be of assistance towards others. I rejoice for her that she’s able to help others with her art and Dharma work.

  62. Martin on Feb 23, 2013 at 10:37 am

Everything about the accident was surreal and it was like, if an accident had to happen to Joy, then by some divine intervention, it happened in the best possible way. It was as if everything was already in place waiting to mitigate the danger and inconvenience of such an accident. But then again, when you are as close to Rinpoche as Joy is, you know that Rinpoche is always looking out for you and often without you knowing about it. Many have been witnesses to these miracles although Rinpoche never personally speaks about them. In Vajrayana, we see the Guru as the Buddha and by that way, the blessings and protection of the Guru is maximised and over time, you begin to realize that it is more than just a visualization.

Joy spends a lot of her time painting Rinpoche’s statues, adorning them with jewels and precious stones and there is so much merits to be gained through such Dharmic acts. It is a wonder why more people are not queueing to serve the Guru and the Dharma in similar ways and build up a tremendously good karma bank account.

  63. Lim (KH JB) on Feb 23, 2013 at 6:15 am

Thanks Rinpoche for always be around us to protect, care and love us!

The concept of rebirth has a long association with Buddhism. Rebirth in Buddhism refers to the teaching that the actions of a sentient being lead to a new existence after death, in an endless cycle called saṃsāra. One will begins a new life in a new body that may be human, animal or spiritual depending on the moral quality of the previous life’s actions. What they are reborn as depends on their actions in their previous life rather kamma. As a Buddhist we should believe in rebirth but still many people don’t . Buddha taught us that choices of rebirth make a difference and can shape many lifetimes. Buddhists believe that nothing that exists is permanent and everything will ultimately cease to be. Against the odds two inspiring nuns fought all the way to become ordained, fighting for their rights to practice Buddhism . Interesting read of how they went through , bringing equality for women in Thailand. Buddhism is the predominant religion in Thailand. Officially, only men can become monks and novices in Thailand under a Buddhist order. The country does not recognize female monks or novices. In recent years, more Thai Buddhist women seeking to become full-fledged female monks, have been defying the tradition getting ordained overseas, in Sri Lanka or India. Buddhist women have been fighting for years for equality and social acceptance in Thailand. They just can’t be ordained by Thai monks. Ven. Dhammananda, 68 year old former university lecturer and activist became Thailand’s first Theravadin bhikkhuni after going the odds. Inspiring read biography on Ven. Dhammananda and Ven. Dr. Lee. They had gone through great hardships, discrimination and against the many odds in bringing equality to women in Buddhism in Thailand.

The unseen things are spiritual realities that are eternal and invisible to our physical eye. There are many forces and phenomena that are not visible to the naked eye. There are many things that humans cannot see yet there are some could see. For what is can be seen is only. Things do exist even we can’t see, believing their existence is our choice. Things that we can’t see in the world opens up a curiosity and exploration by some. Whether through scientific inquiry, or spiritual exploration, the pursuit of knowledge about the unseen can lead to profound insights about ourselves and the universe.
Malacca City is the historic capital of the coastal state of Malacca, in Malaysia serving as a link between east and west for over 500 years. Famous for breath-taking sights with rich heritage, ancient dark culture and history with many old centuries buildings with an interesting past and a colourful ghost story. For that reason alone it is worth visiting as is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site owing to its well-preserved historical center. There’s many historical mansions been passed down generation to generations and with many ghostly sighting by the locals and visitors. There’s the reason many unseen beings loitering and attached to these places. Such an interesting and incredibly creepy watching the video in this blog host by Li Kim. Li Kim had done a great work all along with her team to share with readers about our historic Malacca .

Vajrayogini symbolizes the wisdom of all enlightened beings and embodies the impulse of inspiration that drives the Buddhas to attain the perfect enlightenment. Vajrayogini is one of the most effective practices for people today. We can make offerings such as gold or jewel offerings and so on. The offering of gold helps us to collect merits, spiritual attainments, gain a deeper connection to Vajrayogini. It also creates the causes to attain a Buddha’s body.
Make Offerings to Vajrayogini in Kechara Forest Retreat at Bentong is such an meritorious way for us to collect merits. All thanks to our Guru having conceptualised the idea of having a statue of Vajrayogini for everyone . Recitation of Vajrayogini mantra can be a powerful tool for self-transformation, healing and liberation from samsara.

Thank you, Rinpoche for sharing this insightful article. Life is short, and if we enjoy every moment of every day, then we will be happy no matter what happens or what changes along the way. What ever matter to us at the time of death is nothing. In the end, it’s not the years in our life that count it’s what you leave behind that matters. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again.Death is the golden key that opens the palace of eternity. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time. Learning Dharma and practicing dharma is the our choice that’s matter. Some of the key points to take notes, read, study the Lam Rim and apply it, engage in Sadhana daily and consistently. No one will help us at the moment of death but ourselves. Spiritual practicing is the best choice.

Well the size of Buddha statues in Tibetan Buddhism is important because it represents the Buddha’s immense ability and vast knowledge. Hence the Buddha statues hold the symbol of satisfaction within, peace and happiness. They are a symbol of inspiration for every human being. When we focus on the Buddha statues, it gives us inner peace that our mind, our heart and our soul gets enlightened.
We have are so fortunate seeing and circumambulating where the 9-foot Dorje Shugden statue and with 500 mantra stones engraved with Dorje Shugden’s sacred mantra. As Rinpoche had said before the bigger and more Buddha statues helps in planting seeds of enlightenment in people’s mind-streams. It also help us to generate as much merit and purify as much karma as possible. Merely by seeing all those big statues at Kechara Forest Retreat is a blessing.
    Thank you Rinpoche.

The 4th Tagpu Pemavajra Jampel Tenpai Ngodrub, most commonly known as Tagpu Dorje Chang, was a highly accomplished yogi Highly attained lama who had many authentic visions of the Buddhas and even travel astrally to receive direct teachings from them. His recognised line of incarnations stem all the way back to the 14th Century. He is generally regarded as such amongst Gelug lineage holders. He spent most of his time in a hermitage located above Sera Monastery, gave teachings and transmitted many vital practices and lineages to his foremost student Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche. Besides receiving the complete instructions of Dorje Shugden’s practice, Tagpu Dorje Chang had many other mystical experiences throughout his lifetime. Interesting read biography of a highly accomplished mahasiddha lama.

n Tibetan culture, it is a popular and customary practice for families to invite monks to perform spiritual ceremonies such as Trusol rituals. The monks have had the opportunity to offer such ceremonies for individuals or their families. Such ceremonies purify the elements of the environment which helps those living or visiting there to experience good health, success and well-being. The sacred ritual of ‘bathing’ the Buddhas and consecration through which negativities, sicknesses and obstacles will be cleared. Where by filling those areas with positive energies and good vibes through this Trusol consecration puja. Water is an essential part of this puja and symbolises the cleansing of all negativities and impurities. Through this puja it also pacifies local deities and other unseen beings in the surrounding areas. We are indeed fortunate that Tsem Rinpoche has taught Kecharians this practice and it has benefited many.

Reading this post had me gain some knowledge of Shifter Werewolves. Any article regarding rare creatures or paranormal articles are of my interest since young. In European folklore, a werewolf is a man who turns into a wolf at night and devours animals, people, or corpses but returns to human form by day. They have the ability to transform from an ordinary human appearance to a partially-lupine form with pointed ears, mutton chops, claws and fangs, and a ridged brow . Wow… werewolf tends to be vicious and unable to control his blood thirst. Their underlying common origin can be traced back to Proto-Indo-European mythology. In many depictions, these bloodthirsty beasts are evil where they kill animals and innocent people. They are humans who transition into wolf-like creatures, after being placed under a curse. In folklore, most werewolves originate from being cursed or bitten by another werewolf. That’s what they do believe. According many enthusiasts, there’s many different type of werewolves such as Alpha wolves, Beta wolves , Deltas, Elders, some survive as loners while others move in packs. Beautiful Dorje Shugden at Malacca. One should pay a visit there, located at a busy tourist place. It was such an auspicious occasion that a grand Puja was held there. Dedicated students and volunteers were there getting the place ready for the grand puja. Well the Grand Dorje Shugden puja was conducted by very own Kechara puja team to commemorate the chapel’s 3rd anniversary. Many people attended the Puja that’s wonderful to receive the powerful Protector Dorje Shugden blessings. More people will make a connection and get to know Manjushri, the Buddha of Wisdom, in the form of a Dharma Protector. May Dorje Shugden’s practice flourish to benefit those tourists and locals.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

Venerable Geshe Rabten Rinpoche is a highly realised meditation master known as a debater, scholar, and meditation master, was the first Tibetan Buddhist master to introduce the complete Vinaya-tradition. He had also introduce the study of the five major topics of Buddhism to the West. He became the ‘path breaker’ of the complete and complex teachings of Buddhism in the West. Many masters, who are famous in the West today, were Geshe’s students. enerable Geshe Rabten. Geshe Rabten wrote the beautiful and Manjushri’s prayer called Gangloma and gave a profound explanation. We are so fortunate to learn about this Manjushri’s sacred prayer. May all be blessed by the practice of Lord Manjushri and Geshe Rabten’s explanation.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

The begging bowl or alms bowl is one of the simplest but most important objects in the daily lives of Theravada Buddhist monks. The alms bowl still stands as an emblem of how all Buddhas, as numerous as grains of sand in the Ganges, practiced to end their desire. All those who receive the alms bowl should focus their mind to act with self-control and self-respect. Almsgiving is a tradition of Theravada Buddhists, majority in Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Laos. In those early days of Buddhism, monks would take their bowls and go out begging for food. As today in Thailand one could see monks woke up before dawn every morning and carried his bowl through the roads or paths wherever he was staying. Local people would place food in the bowl as a donation, through the generosity of lay people. They accept whatever food is offered for them and eat whatever been given, serve as a blessing for the giver.
One bowl has held the food of a thousand families. A solitary monastic travels on his journey of a hundred thousand miles seeking liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
Thank you H.E. Tsem Rinpoche for explaining the meaning of begging and gave us more reasons to be vegetarian . Create a awareness among us not killing animals to be one.

Ajahn Siripanyo, the son of billionaire Ananda Krishnan, chose to abandon his inheritance and become a Buddhist monk in pursuit of spirituality. A Thai-Malaysian monk born in London and educated in UK. He was ordained in Thailand and lived there, leaving behind a life of immense wealth and privilege. He did surprised many and his choice was unexpected. Initially as a temporary measure, but somehow later evolved into a permanent way of life. Ven. Ajahn Siripanyo is now the Abbot of hermitage Dtao Dam on the Thai-Burmese border in Saiyok National Park, Thailand.
He was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia years back giving an enthralling Dhamma talk on the timeless teachings of Ajahn Chah.
Thank you Rinpoche for this inspiring sharing.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
