Dato’ Ruby – winner of the 2013 Bella Awards!
Kechara reaching more heights…this you must read, see and watch!!
On the same day as the 1M4U (1 Malaysia For Youth), Dato’ Ruby Khong was invited to go to the inaugural Bella Awards 2013.
Bella Awards is Malaysia’s 1st women awards show. The awards celebrate, recognise, and honour successful women for their great achievement and inspirational contribution to the society. The idea of the awards show came from NTV7’s award-winning women talk show, Bella, a show that Dato’ Ruby and her 2 daughters, Jean Ai and Jean Mei were on just last month. The Red Carpet was on NTV7 live at 8.30pm, and the awards aired live on primetime 9-10.30pm.
Bella Awards debuted on the 2nd of March, in-conjunction with International Women’s Day… and on that night, 10 awards were given out:
- Bella Creative Award – Low Ngai Yuen
- Bella Style Award – Gillian Hung
- Bella Beautiful Award – Dr Premitha Damodaran
- Bella Business Award – Dato’ Rosaline Ganendra
- Bella Mars Award (Appreciation Award) – Dato’ Jimmy Choo
- Bella On-Stage Award – Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza
- Bella Radio Award – Cheong Jun Hoong
- Bella Sports Award – Fara Fauzana
- Bella On-Screen Award – Debbie Goh
The purpose of the Bella Heart Award is to honour Malaysian women who is “bold and brave to stand above all odds and inspire other women around her”. Through her work at Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK), Dato’ Ruby was recognized for working tirelessly to help the homeless and urban poor in Malaysia.
It has been 6 years since KSK started… and since then it has just grown and expanded to provide more and more services for their “clients”. This includes reaching out to more people, serving more people, expanding their services to other states in Malaysia and countries, job placement, housing placement, mobile clinics etc etc.
After all 10 awards were given out, there was an overall Bella Award. The award was aimed to honour Malaysian women who has made a strong impact to the society, both locally as well as internationally. Dato’ Ruby Khong won the Bella Award!!
I would to congratulate all the women who won an award on Saturday night, and a special congratulations to Dato’ Ruby Khong for winning both the Bella Heart Award and Bella Award.
Take a look at the videos and pictures below… and send in your wishes to Dato’ Ruby!

Congrats Dato Ruby! I think that she really did deserve that award. She is amazing, and what she does is even mor amazing, feeding the homeless, to me, is one of the nicest things you could do. And the best part about it, is that everyone can join. This is good because then everyone can do something kind to others, just like Dato Ruby.

爱心是让人最美的元素。名牌、面膜固然重要但是善行,爱心,才是让人长久“美丽”的原因。助人为快乐之本,帮助别人,自己也开心,相由心生,固然人也变得和蔼。
Dato Ruby 从一个太太,走出框框,为社会进一份力,也道出他对仁波切的信念和信心,不然他不会接下克切拉香积厨的棒子,走入巷口,带领大家讲爱心分给社会。
I’m so proud of Dato Ruby! I saw the news on the papers the other day, and when I read about it I felt so touched and proud. Dato Ruby is a very hardworking lady. Congratulations Dato Ruby! You deserved the awards!
Thank You for sharing Rinpoche.
Love, beatrix.
So proud of Dato Mummy to have won the Bella Awards! And I am especially proud of her speech because it was so short, succinct and natural. But of course it would be natural, because she REALLY believes in what she said. She IS thankful to Rinpoche for being the inspiration for KSK, and this work IS really what she feels is a good cause to get involved in. I guess when we’re passionate about our work, and truly believe in its purpose, to speak eloquently about it is not such a difficult task afterall!
Haha thanks for compliment about the photo taken by Sky Arts Production! Congratz again to Dato’ Ruby Chua and all other honored woman!
Dato Ruby is really a powerhouse when it comes to her works in KSK for society.
Many congratulations and many many more projects, movements and events to help more people in the future!
Looking resplendent and glowing! Dato’ Ruby always exudes such charm and charisma with the energy and tenacity of a teenager!
The award is a culmination, thus far, of Dato’ Ruby’s hard work with Kechara Soup Kitchen and it exemplifies the fact that women in this day and age are a “force” to be reckoned with! 🙂
Big Congratuations to Dato’ Ruby. It is great to see that your hardwork to the society has received much recognition.
