Red on white…

Some things you just have to see no matter how you feel. It lets you know what happens behind the scenes. Things manufacturers do not want you to see, but you are stronger than that for you must see.

Yesterday, while I was on Twitter, one of my students Abby Foo posted a video of a baby seal being slaughtered. Apparently, this activity is carried out in Canada EVERY YEAR

I was extremely disturbed and upset to see such cruelty inflicted on such harmless beings. About 95% of the hundreds of thousands of seals slaughtered are below 3 months old!! While many other countries such as America and the European Union has banned the use of seal fur, Canada has yet to implement the same ban… The rate of baby seals being killed increases every year.

In 2011, 38,000 harp seals were killed… In 2012, 70,000 harp seals were killed in commercial seal hunting. That’s twice the amount from the previous year!

These pups were brutally murdered by guns. The first shot usually does not kill them… but because they are too young to swim, they are trapped on ice where they are horribly clubbed to death. How cruel…

Thanks to the efforts of PETA and many other animal rights group, awareness has been brought to the cruelty behind the fur industry. Many in America and the EU have pledged to boycott Canadian seafood until Canada stops killing seals.

Please watch the video below and share it with everyone. We should also do our part to end this cruelty. It is through creating awareness that we can stop this cruelty. Always remember… when there is no demand, there will be no supply…

Please stop buying any animal products because it contributes to another being’s suffering…

Adorable baby seal… how can anyone kill these cute creatures so cruelly…

A massacre… thousands of baby seals, most below 3 months old are killed…

Close range gun fire… most of the time, the first shot does not kill the seal… the hunters then go onto the ice and club them to death

Bloody ice… so many lives lost…

Imagine the fear in this seal’s mind… poor thing…

Every year, millions of seals worldwide are subjected to painful and often lingering deaths, largely for the sake of fashion. Despite a worldwide outcry over the cruelty of the slaughter continued to this day. Most of them are shot or clubbed to death before even reaching their first month of life. Hundreds of thousands of seals have been killed each year . Hunters in Canada target harp seal pups because of their soft fur. Countries such as Mexico, Taiwan, the United States and so forth have all banned imports of products made from seals killed in Canada. That’s a wonderful approach. Looking at those pictures paints a thousand words where the seals are subjected to prolonged and painful deaths. All I can say the slaughter methods are not humane , should be ban. Majority of Canadians opposes the commercial slaughter of seals , hoping more can be done to help and protect those seals.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing , bring awareness the cruelty of slaughtering seal in Canada.

Can’t believe this horror and cruelty of human. These animals are so precious & so beautiful!. Why people are hunting and demanding for them.

This is the most disgusting and horrific slaughtering photos that I have seen. Be a voice for those animal cruelty and step up and protect these helpless animals.

  3. Lin Mun on Sep 30, 2018 at 9:08 pm

Extreme cruelty by the Canadian and ruthless business man. They are just baby seals and kill them? Big shame to Canada for not taking any legal action against such activities. We should create more awareness to all on such killings and hope it will give pressure for the Canada government to stop it.

  4. Samfoonheei on Sep 2, 2017 at 1:43 pm

Extremely sad looking those pictures of red sea of baby seals. How can they do it ,they are mildly babies of just 3 month old.? Such a cruel act … a massacre.. Hope the Canadian government and more people will stop this senseless killing.Give those baby seals a chance to live, please do not hurt them.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing so we can shared with more people not to harm all animals who are also our firends. And to create awareness to stop this cruelty. and stop using animal products.

  5. Lucas Roth on Apr 20, 2014 at 12:52 am

This is extremely cruel and this should stop! I agree SAVE THE SEALS. I will never hurt an animal and everyone should never hurt them. IT IS NOT ONLY ABOUT US. Thank you for sharing Rinpoche.

  6. Sean Wang on Mar 11, 2014 at 10:09 pm

This is disheartening and alarming. Why is this genocide allowed? This is a sign that human beings fail as thinking animals. People should understand that animals are capable of emoting and are not just mere products made for slaughter.

  7. Edward ooi on Jan 30, 2014 at 1:05 am

Dear Rinpoche, the seals are just too cute. These people have no compassion for animals. Seals are one of the cutest animals in the whole world and they can kill them with their bare hands. I’m not saying that killing ugly animals is better than killing a cute animal, but when most people see really cute animals, they will think that they want to pet them or take them home. But these guys are just too cold-blooded.

  8. Carmen Lin @ KMP on Nov 6, 2013 at 11:36 pm

Sickening! Almost throw up upon the sight of massive slaughter. Think again, isn’t this similar to Holocaust? Just that the subject of mass murder is not human beings yet the objective behind it is still out of self centric based. We need no fur from animals, if technologies can overcome so many things in life we should consider using modern technologies to overcome the killing part. This is action is unnecessary when we have options. May the Buddha blessed the seals and may they are free from sufferings.

It is so devastating when I watch this video u can see the baby seal is crying and screaming but hunter still can carry on kill. We all should really stop buying product make of animals skin if no demand than there will be no supply. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this video with us.

  12. beatrix ooi on Jun 22, 2013 at 12:20 am

Poor little baby seals! The way they beat and kill the seals is just way too cruel, not a word can describe their evil acts. How could they manage to kill all these cute little creatures? How could they be so inhumane? The way the seals die is just really harsh and pity, but they was nothing they could have done to save their families, friends nor themselves.
Canada should really stop any activity that is related to killing! The animals do not deserve that, and if this continues the animals will soon be extinct. How much negative karma the people have collected…sad…

  13. Wan Wai Meng on Jun 11, 2013 at 1:58 am

Both the seals and the sealers who kills them what karma they are creating and have created to play out such a drama. Hope the Canadian government will wake up and stop this senseless killing that has not benefit for their economy or otherwise.

  14. Girlie OOI on Jun 7, 2013 at 6:25 pm

Looking at the picture of the white baby seal, reminds me of the soft toy I bought those years ago. I bought on impulse because I could not resist those big round eyes, looking up at me from the shelf.

Now as I read this post, I find that the innocent ones lost their lives so that us humans can have their fur.

  15. Albert Ratchaga on Jun 7, 2013 at 2:09 am

when there is a dark side, there’s always a bright side also. It is sad to see such cruelty act, people killing the seal like they are playing computer games where they kill a thousand monster in the game, their ignorant has took over their guilt feeling, it’s really sad.

According to peta: Every year, the Canadian government allows sealers to shoot and bash in the heads of baby seals. Sealers then hook the seals in the eye, cheek, or mouth and drag them across the ice in order to avoid damaging their delicate fur. Many of the seals have not even eaten their first solid meal or taken their first swim before they are killed.

But at the same time, many people will also stand out to stop these cruelty activity. there is a link here which I found on internet where we can also contribute our effort from distance in helping to push for the stopping of killing more seal in Canada.

Please be kind to animal and put a stop to it.

  16. Cliff on May 30, 2013 at 11:56 pm

This is extremely disturbing, I do not know how people could go through with such actions just to make money. It is very sad to see the whole white surface smeared with blood from being shot and clubbed to death. I really do not want to imagine the cries the baby seals have whilst being placed in such a situation. I do not understand what people would want to purchase their skin just to wear on themselves, when man made products such as polyester could already do the same job as to keep warm or look similar. Im glad for PETA to spread their awareness although they may still be responsible for the many deaths of cats and dogs, they still do create awareness of those animals in need and I hope more people would stop buying seal skin products. We create the demand and these people would want to create the supple, even if we are just one person by joining together we can create less of a demand for them to want to create that supply. I hope these hunters would realise what they are doing is cruel and stop it. Thank you for sharing this awareness Rinpoche.

  17. uncle eddie on May 28, 2013 at 3:14 pm

Animals can smell the stench, hear the sounds and often see the slaughtering of those before them. As the animals struggle from fright, the senseless workers imposed cruelty on them and took sadistics pleasure from such actions. Every normal human being will hate any cruelty, mistreatment, abuse or sufferings imposed on any living thing, whether human or animal. In a perfect world, we would live in harmony. Its the biggest sin to kill, especially with cruelty inflicted on others… There is no place for these kinds of humans on our planet… In future, history will look back on these still cruel times and say, “Why did we let it happen?” It’s indeed sickening to see! As stated in the wisdom words of George Bernard Shaw: “We are the living graves of murdered beasts, slaughtered to satisfy our appetites. How can we hope in this world to attain the peace we say we are so anxious for?” OM MANI PADME HUM.iIiaIa

This is truly horrble news to read !! I don’t get it why would they kill such harmless animals !!Such inhumane action,we don’t have the right to killing animals…this is so cruel and unnecessarY .
“Please STOP ALL THE KILLING !!!”

  19. Kelvin Yong on May 27, 2013 at 12:07 pm

No one in the right mind will commit to such an action. The action of taking a life is not easy and i wonder what is going through their mind when they are doing the killing.

  20. Jessica Yap on May 24, 2013 at 4:01 am

Saying that this is horrible would be the understatement of the century.. Us humans are really the worst animals ever. I cannot imagine killing a less than 3 months old baby for the skin!

How sick can we be to do this to another creature? And the best part is that we are killing them for their fur.. We can very well use other alternatives to replace fur, thus avoiding the need to kill these poor defenseless creatures..

When we educate ourselves, and keep ourselves updated on what us going on, we can help prevent killings like this from happening. Could you bring yourself to buy the coat if I showed you how the fur was obtained?

STOP THE BUYING, SAVE THE ANIMALS’ LIVES.

    Thank you for sharing, Rinpoche.

  21. Jutika Lam on May 22, 2013 at 11:44 pm

    Dear Rinpoche,

OMB!!!! What is going on with the world (or precisely Canada….. why does The Canadian Government not want to put a permanent ban on the killing of the seals.

It is just so sad to see all these poor seals, just a few weeks old getting shot and beaten by clubs….

I just can’t imagine how much pain and suffering all these seals have to go through just to end up being skinned which of course results of the death of another seal.

It is no surprise to me that every year there is at least one animal species that faces extinction… being wiped of the face of the Earth forever.

What I think people should do is that they should stop buying all products and clothes that involves the killing of innocent animals such as seals.

Thank you Rinpoche for spreading the news.

    Love
    Jutika

70,000 harp seals were killed in Year 2012, this is a scary number …Very sad… One day sure seals will disappear from this world… Please stop buy any animal product to show your LOVE and CARE to animals.

  23. AdelineTan on May 22, 2013 at 5:01 pm

It is so heart breaking seeing these cruel people killing those baby seals in such a gruesome way. Their lives were sacrificed just like that due to human’s greed. The baby seals are so cute and adorable and never heart anyone. We must stop buying products made from animal’s parts, when there is no demand in the consumers market the animals will not be sought after. Thanks to PETA’s effort for creating awareness to stop killing and hurting animals, we must support them.

  24. sweekeong on May 22, 2013 at 9:13 am

It is really gruesome and horrible feeling seeing the baby seals all in blood. The best one can do is create awareness about the clothes, apparels, and products which may contain animals. It is doing the hunters a service by not creating a demand for animals furs. Therefore they no longer have the choice to work in such jobs.

  25. Erickksiow on May 22, 2013 at 1:09 am

Thank You Rinpoche for creating the awareness.

  26. beatrix ooi on May 21, 2013 at 11:28 pm

This is so cruel, I feel so sorry for the baby seals. They are literally born to be killed, the only thing they had before they are slaughtered was a very short lifespan of 2-3 months. From birth to death, there wasn’t a thing that they could have done wrong to deserve such consequences within that short period of life.
It’s very scary to see the snowy white ice ground covered with all the blood, it makes me feel very sad for the seals, especially for those parents who witnessed the dying process of their babies, there was nothing they could have done to save their lives.
I hope such cruelty will stop soon so that less animals will have to suffer.
    Thank You for sharing Rinpoche.

This is so disturbing! What type of species are these murderers! They are not human! How can they enjoy killing? Laughing and clubbing the seals to death! So sad, if only they knew that their karma will catch up on them.

  30. William on May 20, 2013 at 3:20 pm

Please save the seals!!! We are no longer in the stone age where we need animal fur to keep warm. We have other materials now and should leave the animals alone. They are innocent. It is because there are still demand in the world that makes this industry thrive and man seek for profits.

Do not wear fur for you know that you are contributing to the bad karma that was created in the cruel killing of the seals every year. Your small step will make a big difference.

  31. Bradley Kassian on May 20, 2013 at 1:27 pm

This disgusts me beyond belief about my country. I’ve signed potitions against this before. I can’t even believe it’s sanctioned by the government. This is just plain inhumane, all in the name of culling a population because of a what if scenario. Too many, and they will exhaust their food supply and starve. Theres no way to prove that, nature has a way of balancing everything out. Two, the excuse to use this as an opportunity to create jobs, and provide income for familys is appalling. There are plenty other kinds of careers out there. Don’t be lazy go back to college and upgrade. Do something you enjoy that does not give harm to other beings. Some of these people go out there and whack seal babies well their parents watch. It’s horrible. I don’t know why the eastern part of my country allows this practice. I am glad the western provinces care more about conservation, and protecting wildlife.

  32. Julien Roth on May 19, 2013 at 11:06 pm

Thank you Peta for doing this. This video better spread awareness of this stupid, cruel and uncompassionate thing. I couldn’t believe it when i saw it. That people actually treat seals this way, and that nobody cares. Who is the right mind would do or even think of such a thing. Shame on them. I dont mean to sound rude or anything, but this is stupid, and just idiotic. I hope that people do stop killing these seals for whatever reason, they deserve to live. Thank you Rinpoche, i hope that by Rinpoche putting this up on the blog will help the spread of awareness.

  33. tenzin llhamo on May 19, 2013 at 10:20 pm

It was really painful to watch such video. I am really amazed with those people. Shooting and hacking them like they are nothing. They are just babies! How can we as sane people do such things? Have they no compassion left in them? And why do people even want to wear a dead seal’s fur on them and pay thousands for it? I have no idea! With all that crying and waning… I really hope that the killing will stop and thank you PETA for always creating awareness for everyone around the world to see and be aware of cruelty.

  34. tenzinkhenchen on May 19, 2013 at 5:16 pm

I hate it when people use animals for their own benefit instead of showing some love and care to them. Animals are not meant to be produce but our friends.

These people do not realise that they are causing harm and that is why they do it. They do not know that animals are capable of feeling pain. They think that they are just harvesting crops.

A ban needs to be in place for these ruthless murders.

  35. edward ooi on May 18, 2013 at 7:37 pm

I feel so sad for the baby seals. They all looked so cute, anyone who buys animal products is damn cruel. I am sorry that swear in this comment, I felt too much anger. Because I’m dying to pet a seal yet these cold blooded seal killers would kill them without any mercy. There is one part where one of the workers run towards the seal and killed it. I hope Canada will stop this cruel action right now.

  36. Yvonne Yap on May 17, 2013 at 6:26 pm

I have been supporting Senator Harb’s cause for opposing commercial seal hunt in Canada by sending letters to other Senators and signing petitions. He introduced the Bill S-210 in the Senate for 3 times in since 2009. He has worked hard on this bill and it seems that the public are supporting it. The last time (May 2012) Senator Harb introduced this bill has again faced considerable opposition.

Beneficial things always have lots of obstacles mainly due to the selfish minds of a few individuals. Selfish mind is so dangerous that it goes all the way to make sure one’s desire is being met regardless of the lives that will be sacrificed in the process.

We need to continue to support Senator Harb and everyone else to continue to support this cause. For more information on Senator Harb, please see http://macharb.ca/en/

  38. Chris on May 17, 2013 at 4:28 pm

This is very cruelty to me. Like i say, who’s giving us the right to kill all these animal? Especially those harmless one. Imagine someone take a gun pointed on you, how do you feel that kind of helpless and fear feeling? Kesian to all these animals. I hope there will be more and more organizers like PETA to create more awareness not to support animal product.

    • Thierry on May 17, 2013 at 5:54 pm

Yet I have heard too often complains from people, even from friends, that I impose my views onto them when I post links like this one above on my facebook page (just ans simply that), when I do eat vegetarian in their presence (duuhhh – what about even that?).

I have heard similar stories from some people about organizations like PETA that campaign against cruelty towards animals as being EXTREMISTS, as being BIAS, as being NAIVE and ANNOYING, CHILDISH even..

But I ask, who is being extremist, bias, naive, childish and annoying a MILLION FOLD if not the people killing weaker beings such as baby seals?
Isn’t the red-on-white the extremist activity, the terrorizing activity, beyond ANNOYING to a infinite degree, infinite; and I say beyond childish, for not worth of humanity!

      • David Lai on May 28, 2013 at 5:19 pm

        Dear Thierry,
I am not sure what’s wrong about posting such things. It’s so sad that they would feel this way because I think they are really just trying to avoid facing the facts. They refuse to see the suffering induced by such powerful posts. It is really sad and sad for even more people who take animal suffering lightly. The truth of the matter is that animals suffer tremendously every day for our food and very few people really care but karma cares and that’s why many of us will take similar rebirths to the animals to suffer the same or a similar fate.

  39. sarahyap on May 17, 2013 at 2:09 pm

It certainly is a very disturbing issue… Like so many animals around the world, exploited for the sake of economy and to feed into people’s desires… such a sad thing that people would want to wear dead animals on their bodies, how barbaric.

I’m glad to hear that many people are now supporting PETA’s effort to place a ban on these killings… they make the effort by openly protesting against the killing of seals by abstaining from Canadian seafood. I think this is wonderful… It makes a very strong statement that people are willing to give up their attachments for the sake of these poor seals.

  40. Jace Chong on May 17, 2013 at 1:36 pm

Would you kill your baby or your friend’s baby for money?

Animals and us have no different, we are the citizen of this earth. How can because we are stronger than them, we have the right to kill them? It’s not fair. We should utilize our stronger strength to benefit the world not to create more harm.

Please don’t create pain on others. It WILL come back to us.

  41. Lai on May 17, 2013 at 1:34 pm

82% not kill by first bullet!! how cruel is the killing action!!
sometime i do think.. do they kill because they are harmless???
    i hope not..
    no demand no selling..
i will stop buying any animal products.

  42. abby f on May 17, 2013 at 12:46 pm

what disturb me the most and make me feel sad is even when they hear the baby seal is screaming/crying, they still beat them to death! And they hit so many times to make sure the baby seal is dead. How can they just ignore and do it? I guess their heart became harden because they did it for so long already. How sad.

It is sad to know that some people treat lives as just a product, and they totally ignore the fact that animals do have blood, and the blood colour is exactly the same as us! We are just another form of lives. They should stop as the world is against the killing of seal. The earth and all the living beings on this earth are belong to all of us! Canada should respect the world and stop it.

    • Sharon Saw on May 17, 2013 at 2:55 pm

It is like those butchers who kill pigs, chickens, goats, cows everyday. From the videos i have seen, the animals scream and look around wildly with fear… the problem is people get used to the reactions of the animals until they are desensitized and worst is when they begin to enjoy it. In some of the videos you see them clubbing the animal and laughing… and these people will never know that their actions will cause them to be reborn in hell in a future life, so they just keep continuing their ‘work’. I hope that eventually, more and more people will begin to be aware of cause and effect and change their lives so that they can change their own futures.

      • Jay Jae on May 17, 2013 at 4:41 pm

I agree with you sharon. Such acts of killing seems to be like “harvesting” flesh for food. They do not realize that these animals feel pain and the blood they see could be theirs if they switch roles.

We need to put more emphasis in educating people to get them to understand that killing is not the right way to go in preserving nature’s way of keeping balance

Revisit this interesting truth where not many people knew the actual story behind . With great effort and research finally the story unfolded. In Tibet, Oracles play, an important part in principal roles assisting governmental decision-making and providing intelligence revelation, religion, doctrine, and prophecy. To this day the Tibetan government still believe and rely in Nechung Oracle. When Nechung oracle took trance, it is actually spirit Nyatrul who has causes problems and misprophecies. Nechung is bound by oath to protect the Dharma. Nechung prophecies are unreliable, most probably given by Nyatrul spirit to the Tibetan government. Such as wrong medication given to the 13 th Dalai Lama as prescribed by the Nechung Oracle. Another misprophecies was during the British invasion. If it was really Nechung who took trance of the Oracle, these types of misprophecies would not have happen. As mentioned in the 6th Dalai Lama biography, we cannot trust or rely on Nechung’s prophecies. It was said that Nyatrul not Nechung who created the problems and harm to Dorje Shugden . It must have told HH the Dalai Lama to ban Dorje Shugden .
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor Jean Ai for this interesting article.

In Tibetan Buddhism, water offerings, particularly the seven or eight bowls offering, are a common practice used to express gratitude, cultivate merit, and purify the mind. The seven bowls represent essential aspects of offerings and can be offered daily, along with other items like flowers, incense, and lamps. Water offerings are probably the most common offering made in Tibetan Buddhism. Offering any item of value to the three jewels is the antidote to greed and attachment and helps to cultivate generosity. It is a powerful practice that can help us develop positive qualities such as generosity, devotion, and selflessness. By making water offering, we are creating good karma for ourselves and all sentient beings in the future. Great explanations and teachings all about water offerings.

H.H. Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche (1878–1941), also known as Dechen Nyingpo Jampa Tenzin Trinlay Gyatso, was one of the great lamas of the twentieth century. was a highly influential teacher in Tibet and a prominent lama in the 20th century. He was the root guru of the present Dalai Lama’s tutors and many other Tibetan lamas who brought the Dharma to the West. His teachings, particularly his book “Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand,” are significant in the Gelugpa tradition until this days.He was the root guru of the present Dalai Lama’s tutors, Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, and a teacher to many other Gelug lamas who fled Tibet. He had brought the Dharma to the West after 1959. His teachings covered various aspects of the Tibetan Buddhist path, including the seven-point mind training and the stages of the path to enlightenment. Rinpoche’s teachings are so famous that thousands of people would come from far and wide to attend. He was an extraordinary master for the Heruka Body Mandala and the Vajrayogini practice. Wow ……one of the many famous stories been told of how Heruka actually appeared to Pabongka when he visited Cimburi in Tibet and how Heruka image spoke to him. Interesting biography of a great master of all times.

The practice of Sangha in Buddhism involves building and cultivating a supportive community of practitioners who engage in shared spiritual practice, often focusing on mindfulness and concentration. This community provides mutual support, guidance, and encouragement on the path of self-discovery. The Sangha is not just a gathering of people; it’s a collective energy of mindfulness and compassion that benefits all members. It provides a supportive environment for individuals on their spiritual journey, offering guidance, encouragement, and a sense of belonging. Sharing experiences and insights within the Sangha can accelerate the learning process.
Thank you Thich Nhat Hanh for sharing and explaining all about the insight of sangha. Great sharing .

Wat Rong Khun better known as the White Temple, is a Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai province, Thailand. The gold symbolizes how people focus on worldly desires and money. The white building represents the idea to make merit and to focus on the mind. It is owned by a succesful Thai businessman who opened it to visitors in 1997. Awesome….This temple stands out through the white colour and use of pieces of glass that sparkle in the sun. The white colour signifies the purity of Buddha while the glass symbolizes Buddha’s wisdom. Located 3 hour drive from Chiang Mai built to honour and pay tribute to sacred Buddhist figures. Over time, temples grew in prominence and is one of the famous temples to visit in Thailand. I have visited years back its simple stunning temple which truly love the design and architecture .

Sak Yant, a traditional Thai tattooing practice, involves sacred geometrical and animal designs. Its often accompanied by Pali phrases, and is believed to offer power, protection, charisma, and other benefits to the wearer. Sak Yant tattoos are deeply rooted in Buddhist and spiritual beliefs, with each design and symbol carrying specific meanings and purported powers. Many designs are believed to provide protection against evil spirits, misfortune, and danger. Sak Yant tattoos are traditionally applied by monks or masters using a needle and ink, and the process is often accompanied by chants and blessings. I personally have not seen one yet . Sound interesting.

Jojo Struys is a travel and wellness personality, accredited yoga instructor, speaker and author. She visited Bangsar of Kechara outlet for a feature with Star Property. With her visit hopefully more people will get to know more of our Kechara . She had made a video with and Pastor David Lai all about Buddhist Arts. She openly admitted interested in Buddhist art . Buddhist art pieces have given her home a contemporary edge. Art was important to Buddhist religious life. It was not only part of ritual and worship but also served to transmit religious ideas, and artistic styles between cultures. Do agree with her statement ,…..if you want to change your life, change the way you think, because everything begins with you.”

n their theoretical model, rudeness has this impact on our ability to think because it engenders negative sadness, anger. Researchers have found that common negative behaviours can spread easily and have significant consequences. The best way to avoid rude people is to meet their acts of rudeness with kindness. Exposure to neurotoxins in society is not new. Children today are raised in an environment that is much different from those days. Nowadays they are exposed to behaviours, profane language, hostilities and stress from which we adults, raised a generation ago. Studies have shown that children exposed to serious psychological trauma during childhood are at risk of suffering increased psychiatric disorders. Interesting read.

Revisit this blog again . Reading comments in this blog Rich people have substantial assets and income, providing a sense of security and freedom from financial worries. Owning high-end cars, designer clothing and everything they want with their money. Rich people often have more time for leisure, hobbies, and travel, allowing them to pursue interests and experiences. They may live in large, luxurious homes and have or apartments, often in desirable locations and having personalized services. The fundamental difference in mindset between the rich and the poor is, the rich have understood a very simple principle money makes money. Rich people see money as an opportunity, while poor people see it as something to be earned. Poor people work hard for their money. It is the heart that makes a man rich. He is rich according to what he is, not according to what he has. Not he who has much is rich, but he who gives much. The primary difference between rich people and poor people is how they handle their wealth. My thought been rich in this world it is not what we take up, but what we give up, that makes us rich.

Found this old post …disturbing. Having a name especially a Bar linked to Buddha to be disrespectful towards Buddhism. After much controversy the owner had it removed. The Buddha Bar located in Sabah by a young owner which opened without much thought had many people complaining. Later was forced to have its controversial name changed to ‘Peacock Garden’ and had apologised for the controversial name. As a devout Buddhist, the name ‘Buddha Bar’ which serves alcohol, is disrespectful to the revered Buddha.

Siberia, considered the heartland of shamanism inhabited by many different ethnic groups, and many of its peoples observe shamanistic. Many of the indigenous communities reclaiming their traditional spiritual and healing practices . Interesting. Siberian shamanism is often called Tengerism, involves various rituals, including drumming, chanting, trance states, and offerings to nature spirits and ancestors. This religious practice has deep roots in Siberia and Central Asia in recent years with roots in the Turkic and Mongolic cultures. Many who have been live in a remote part of Russia, have preserved their shamanic traditions due to their isolation. Many customs of Tengrism are still been practiced where they emphasizes a deep respect for nature and its various spirits, including those of the earth, water, and mountains. They do believe in the continued existence of souls and the importance of honouring their ancestors.
Thank you Rinpoche sharing this ancient religion.

Everyone of us has an unforgettable different experience, a different destination and itineraries. The journey to Shar Gaden Monastery back in 2019, making offerings to the sangha , by the Kecharians hold special moments and memories. They were on behalf of His Eminence the 25th Tsem Rinpoche and Kechara in making an offering to all 650 monks of the monastery. On this fruitful trip the Kecharians had the honour to catch a glimpse of the normally-covered holy statue of Dorje Shugden . Awesome this holy statue of Dorje Shugden was handmade by HH Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche and HH Kyabje Zong Rinpoche. The team was also granted an audience with H E Domo Geshe Chocktrul Rinpoche. Having the opportunity to make offerings to the monks was indeed meritorious. Rejoice to them. Looking at those beautiful pictures paints a thousands words. Thank you Rinpoche and team for this sharing. Merely looking at it is a blessing especially the Holy Statue of Dorje Shugden.

Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly. We can’t let our failures define us. Defeat is not the worst of failures. Not to have tried is the true failure. Success is never permanent, and failure is never final. Failure is another stepping stone to greatness .Sometimes just reminding ourselves of the temporality of failure enables us to forge ahead and stay focus looking forward . Failure isn’t something many of us can handle gracefully. And even though we know it’s a common human condition, figuring out how to stay motivated in the face of failure .
Thank you Rinpoche for this profound teachings.

Finally HH Dalai Lama said we can practice Dorje Shugden. After all these years of deep frustration felt by the Tibetan people. They who lack religious freedom been denied and been exploited in all sectors of society. More than 60 years the Tibetan leadership has cause the sufferings of those in exile who had propitiate Dorje Shugden. Dalai Lama did reiterated although he recommended not worshipping Dorje Shugden as it is a personal choice and freedom. Interesting read.

Working in a private hospital before ,having witnessed many personal tragedies faced by the living and dying patients. Many of these poor people faced their death with fear, with misery and pain before departing this world. With the images of all these in my mind, on occasion feeling sad and grieve at times when those we have cared .But nonetheless we should recognise certain truths. All of us are going to leave this world at one time and leaving those we love. In the teaching of the Buddha, all of us will pass away eventually as a part in the natural process of birth, old-age and death and that we should always keep in mind the impermanence of life. Along the journey of life, we are reminded of our own inevitable ends in waiting and everything is a blip of transience and impermanent. Be responsible, good and positive for ourselves and towards others. This leads to calmness, happiness and an outlook which contributes to a calm and controlled mind at the time of death. We have to remind ourselves the importance of rebirth and taking time to prepare for their own demise before its too late.To cultivate the good karma, our good actions are an excellent way prepare for our death. Having lead a responsible and compassionate life and have no regrets when death approaches enables us to surrender without a struggle. The life that we all cherish and wish to hold on. We are doomed to the endless cycles of life and death, we should learn and practices Dharma teachings .We are given a chance in life and choice to determine our future, to determine where we will go for rebirth. Spend our time on earth wisely before its too late.
Thank you Rinpoche for this great sharing.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

Find one of the most beautiful temples in the world in Nara, Japan. It is the 1,267 year old Todai-ji temple that houses a 15 meter Buddha Vairocana statue who is a cosmic and timeless Buddha. Emperor Shomu who sponsored this beautiful temple eventually abdicated and ordained as a Buddhist monk. Very interesting history and story. One of the places everyone should visit- https://bit.ly/2VgsHhK

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
