Question asked by Michele
Dear Pastor, I have recently started to practice buddhism and I'm really taking it seriously. I've been reading books by Lama Yesche And I would have posed this question to Lama Zopa Rinpoche but I can't find anyway to contact him. While on youtube while I was searching for more stuff on Milarepa I came across some of H.E. Tsem Tulku teachings and somethings really hit home with me. now for my question Lama Zopa's book suggest learning under a guru and with alot of my experience with meditating and some of the words as well as my million questions I understand why. Where I live people are all some form of christian. There is one jewish synigog in the entire county, there is not one buddhist temple anywhere and the one buddhist monk who moved into the one town has posted no tresspassing signs all over the place. So what do I do? Can I continue to study on my own?
Dear Michele,
You can continue to study on your own until you find a guru who can give you the spiritual guidance that you need. Since you have found H.E. Tsem Rinpoche’s teachings useful, do continue to learn from the blog and YouTube teachings. Many of Rinpoche’s foreign students learn in this way and some of them find their way to Malaysia to visit Kechara House and remain in contact.
