Joan Rivers
It’s very hard to make me laugh. Many stand up comedians are good, but it’s rare they can get me to laugh very hard. Maybe giggles here and there. I don’t deny they are very talented, but I am just not easy to laugh.
But I do like Lily Tomlin, Bette Midler, Divine, Joan Rivers, sometimes Steve Martin, Goldie Hawn, Rosie O’Donnell, Carol Burnett, Phyllis Diller, Ethel Merman and Woody Allen sometimes also. I found a few clips of Joan doing her thing and you have to watch and listen carefully because she is very quick and fast with her comebacks…heehhe..
Please enjoy..I thought to give you some comic relief for the day… Let me know which one you found funny.

I love the third video the most. As her jokes are based on the unpleasant experiences that could happen to everybody, she has taught us a very valuable experience. Instead of whining and complaining whenever we stumble upon obstacles or encounter unpleasant experiences, we should learn to accept it. Instead of throwing our frustration at others and blaming others, we should make good use of these unhappy moments to benefit others, which in this case, Joan River has transform these unhappy experiences into jokes that bring happiness to others. What a wonderful way to channel our negative energy into a positive ones. By doing so, we have also purified our negative karma that we have put an end to these unpleasent moments/activities from recurring in our future lives.
She is such a funny lady – I know lots of people find her to be offensive, but I guess these people haven’t looked up the meaning of the word in a while…
Her quick wit and directness is something, for me, that makes a comedian funny. Anyone can recite jokes or spend hours writing one liners (I was walking in the park one day wondering why frisbees get bigger the closer they get. Then it hit me…), but the real talent, I think, lies in improvisation, and Joan Rivers’ handling of hecklers and attempted put-downs is amazing – she sure has a sharp mind. If I saw her perform live, I’d be kind to her!
Anyway, I have to dash. Off to a meeting with revolutionary librarians; it’s all very hush hush.
I try…
Kind regards,
Sandy
I understand where Rinpoche is coming from when I watched these few short videos and Joan Rivers is just so funny. I love all her videos and was laughing and laughing away at her witty takes. I think Rinpoche have a rather refined taste in what’s funny and what isn’t. I didn’t particularly appreciated Joan Rivers and didn’t know what she is about until this post.
I think like many of Rinpoche’s favourite stars and performers reflect the best in the industry and it also reflects Rinpoche’s own talent to be on the screen itself. I have heard many Rinpoche Dharma talks and the like comedy ‘intermissions’ where Rinpoche goes into a monologue that comes complete with an ingeniously funny plot and quirky characters that reflect the hangup of particular students. Rinpoche is very talented in that manner and if he went that direction, he would have made it in Hollywood. But fortunately for all of us, he is here spreading the Dharma with all of us.
Joan Rivers is still so sharp with her comebacks even at the age 77. She is worthy opponent for any talk show hosts or any challenger. She seems to have a deep respect for British culture and holds Britain close to her heart due to her long association with the country. She is so so hilarious. In one of the interviews, she spoke about her husband’s suicide and that it was hard on her, it took her a lot of time to recover, I felt for her. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing Joan Rivers with us, she is not really a comedian of our times but she is definitely a comedy Queen!
Terima Kasih Rinpoche!
I believe these links that has some clips is as what M.L.S mentioned on:

(The other links on other vids in their description seem to take one to another site with a ‘test’ before one can access the movie)

She’s funny and I just saw her (as one of those who congratulated her) on one talk host show ‘Rachael Ray’ on their 500th Show celebration recently on local tv.
Thank you again Rinpoche!
Dear M.L.S,
Thanks for letting me know. It would be very interesting to watch.
Do paste a link here if you can for me. Would love to see it.
Thanks,

I just read in the San Fran Chronicle that Joan Rivers’ new movie is one of the best documentaries about show business ever
