Question asked by Lol
Regarding on the video where kandarohi and rinpoche debate, got one thing which I don't really understand on imputation. What it means about imputation in buddism? And ya how does the irresponsible person get more negative karma by allowing an imputation from the perceiver? I need more detail explanation on that part. I'm quite confused.tq in advance
hi Lol,
To put it simply, “imputation” in Buddhism means labeling, we impute, we label all beings, objects, phenomena around us with good, bad, pleasant, repulsive, neutral, exciting, disgusting…we label all that with our deluded mind, that is called imputation. A Buddha’s mind which is enlightened and non-dualistic, are free from all those imputations, a Buddha abides in total equanimity, a Buddha does not label any person, any being, any phenomena as good, bad, attractive, repulsive, pleasant, unpleasant, friends, enemies…
Therefore, in the case of Kandarohi’s debate with Rinpoche, the irresponsible person, due to his irresponsibility and not doing his job and letting others do his job instead, will create stress, anger, frustration etc. negative emotions from people around him, yes no doubt that these emotions are negative in itself and thus the people that feel this way towards the irresponsible person are feeling it out of imputation, but it is the irresponsible person who trigger those people to have those negative emotions in the first place, he triggers their imputations, he triggers their feelings of anger, hatred, frustration etc towards him due to his irresponsibility, since he is the trigger and source of their imputations, thus he creates more negative karma by causing that on others, he creates more negative karma by increasing others’ delusions and negative emotions.
I hope this is clear enough for you. Please feel free to ask more questions if you have. It is my pleasure to share.
Thank you.
