For hundreds of years, Tibet has been a powerhouse of enlightened minds, devoted practitioners and attained masters. As far as the eye can see, from the great monastic universities to the caves scattered throughout the land, hundreds of thousands of practitioners have engaged in retreats, studied, learned, debated, contemplated, meditated and gained attainments into Buddha’s profound teachings.

Of these practitioners, no two lamas have accomplished the same level of repute as His Holiness Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, who were selected as the tutors of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama (centre) with his root gurus His Holiness Ling Rinpoche (left) and His Holiness Trijang Rinpoche (right). For 40 years, the Dalai Lama relied on these two masters for the vast majority of his learning, knowledge, insight, advice and mentorship

His Holiness Kyabje Ling Rinpoche was known as a great scholar and teacher. Ling Rinpoche bears the distinction of having been tutor to four Dalai Lamas (6th, 12th, 13th and 14th). As a young boy, Ling Rinpoche was ordained by 13th Dalai Lama and later, he rose to become the 97th Gaden Tripa (or the Gaden Throne-holder) and head of the Gelugpa tradition. It would be Ling Rinpoche’s second time as the Gaden Tripa; in one of his previous incarnations, Ling Rinpoche had been the 48th Gaden Tripa. Ling Rinpoche was so respected and held in such high regard that when his term as the 97th Gaden Tripa was drawing to an end, the Dalai Lama himself requested Ling Rinpoche stay on for another seven-year term. Ling Rinpoche accepted the request and when he finally stepped down seven years later, he had sat on the Gaden throne longer than any other Gaden Tripa in history (14 years).

Known as ‘the teacher of teachers’, His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche was one of the foremost Tibetan Buddhist masters of our time. He counted among his disciples practitioners like His Holiness Kyabje Zong Rinpoche, Ven. Geshe Rabten, Ven. Lama Yeshe and Ven. Lama Zopa. A direct disciple of His Holiness Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche himself, Trijang Rinpoche edited Pabongka Rinpoche’s Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand. This texts forms one of the core practices and studies in the Gelugpa lineage to this day. Trijang Rinpoche was also directly and indirectly responsible for the proliferation of Dharma in the West, through his own teachings and that of his students who would go on to establish world-renown Buddhist organisations.

His Holiness Ling Rinpoche (left) and His Holiness Trijang Rinpoche (right)

So out of hundreds of thousands of monks and scholars, these two masters were selected to become the main tutors of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. Selecting tutors for the Dalai Lama has always been a matter of national importance. The tutors would be responsible for shaping and educating the young Dalai Lama, and ensure that he received the proper training, knowledge and exposure required to become not just a Buddhist master, but a powerful and effective temporal leader. In effect, the tutors would be in charge of creating Tibet’s next Dharma monarch.

It would therefore take more than an ordinary Geshe Lharampa to become the tutor of the Dalai Lama. Considering the importance of the role, being selected as the tutor of the Dalai Lama indicates that the chosen master (or masters) has something above and beyond the thousands of practitioners and lamas throughout Tibet. Not only do the tutors have to possess an indisputable command and knowledge of the complete corpus of Buddha’s teachings, but their appointment would have to be vetted and approved by all of the ecclesiastical heads in the Tibetan government.

In this case, His Holiness Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche were selected for this most exalted position, effectively putting them in charge of Tibet’s future.

We can therefore safely assume that whatever masters of such calibre choose to practise is definitely valid. It cannot be that on the one hand, they are qualified to educate Tibet’s next leader when, on the other hand, they choose mistaken practices. And, being adept in all traditions of Buddha’s teachings, among all of the practices and lineages these two enlightened beings carried, they chose to incorporate the Dharma Protector practice of Dorje Shugden. Kyabje Ling Rinpoche is a highly realised teacher of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and could not be mistaken about the benefits of Dorje Shugden’s practice.

Some people would like to say that His Holiness the Dalai Lama had other teachers who did not rely on Dorje Shugden, and this is somehow justification for the Dalai Lama to drop his practice of Dorje Shugden. Those people who say such things are sadly mistaken. While His Holiness may have received teachings and transmissions from other lamas, there were no other two people who were as instrumental in shaping the Dalai Lama’s thoughts, knowledge and nurturing his wisdom. For 40 years, His Holiness relied on Ling Rinpoche and Trijang Rinpoche for their knowledge, advice, guidance and mentorship. Unlike the other lamas, they were both considered the Dalai Lama’s root gurus.

Tsem Rinpoche was offered the audio of these great masters chanting to Dorje Shugden and asked me to share this information, hence this blog post. We would therefore like to present to you here a sacred, holy recording of the two holy tutors of the Dalai Lama performing a Dorje Shugden kangsol (puja) while on a visit to Switzerland. During the kangsol, they recite prayers composed by other Tibetan Buddhist greats such as His Holiness Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche, to invoke upon the blessings, protection and assistance of Dorje Shugden. The holy voices of Ling Rinpoche who acted as umze (lead chanter) and Trijang Rinpoche chanting the puja to Dorje Shugden on this recording is, to say the least, very powerful. Both these masters performed Dorje Shugden puja in Switzerland together. We are so fortunate to receive this recording. Ling Rinpoche and Trijang Rinpoche were also the gurus and teachers to hundreds of thousands of monks and students throughout Tibet, India, Mongolia, Russia and other lands. To their disciples therefore, their voices are unmistakable; any senior monk in the Gelug tradition today will have no problems recognising the voices of their root gurus on this audio and bring tears of joy again. We are grateful to obtain this beautiful audio from Zawa Rinpoche.

His Holiness Ling Rinpoche’s Prayer to Dorje Shugden

Below is a video recorded during some teachings in Gaden Monastery (Karnataka, India) in 2013. In the video, His Holiness the Dalai Lama is very emphatic and denies that His Holiness Kyabje Ling Rinpoche ever had a connection to Dorje Shugden.

As you can see, His Holiness the Dalai Lama clearly insists that Ling Rinpoche, his own tutor, never relied on Dorje Shugden. To His Holiness, we would respectfully like to disagree. Many hundreds of Kyabje Ling Rinpoche’s students as well as Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche’s students confirm Kyabje Ling Rinpoche’s deep respect for Dorje Shugden. On many occasions, in fact, Kyabje Ling Rinpoche would ask certain questions to Dorje Shugden taking trance in the oracle. When Dorje Shugden gave the answers, it would be written and sealed. The letter would then be presented to Kyabje Ling Rinpoche who would always touch the letter to his forehead before opening it, as a sign of deep respect. Ling Rinpoche would then read the answers from Dorje Shugden before folding the letter and touching it to his forehead again. Kyabje Ling Rinpoche through his dice divinations would also always prescribe Dorje Shugden pujas to many people as he did for Lady Dr Dolma.

Aside from the recording of Ling Rinpoche performing a Dorje Shugden kangsol, we also wish to counter claims that Ling Rinpoche had no connection with Dorje Shugden with this prayer composed by Kyabje Ling Rinpoche himself, to propitiate the blessings of this enlightened Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden, Mahakala, Pelden Hlamo and Vaishravana together. It was requested by people of Varanasi Sanskrit University and Kyabje Ling Rinpoche wrote this combined prayer offering to these protectors including Dorje Shugden. Indeed Kyabje Ling Rinpoche respects Dorje Shugden tremendously.

Epilogue

Since His Holiness the Dalai Lama and his government in-exile (the Central Tibetan Administration or ‘CTA’ for short, based in Dharamsala, India) imposed the ban on the practice of Dorje Shugden, they have posed a number of reasons to justify their constitutionally unlawful actions.

However, each and every one of their justifications, ranging from allegations that the practice harms His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s life, to claims that it damages the Tibetan struggle and even the baseless accusation that all Dorje Shugden worshippers are Chinese spies, have collapsed under scrutiny and over the course of time.

Another popular justification that supporters of the religious ban often cite is that Kyabje Ling Rinpoche did not practice Dorje Shugden. The suggestion here is that Kyabje Ling Rinpoche opposed the popular Dharma Protector and hence avoided the practice. Indeed this is what Thupten Jinpa alluded to when he wrote in the Introduction to The Life of My Teacher: A Biography of Kyabje Ling Rinpoche, that “His Holiness [the Dalai Lama] has told me that the fact that Ling Rinpoche never had any association with the Shugden practice was a source of comfort and confidence for him.”

Extract from The Life of My Teacher: A Biography of Kyabje Ling Rinpoche in which Thupten Jinpa claims His Holiness the Dalai Lama was "comfortable" with Kyabje Ling Rinpoche because he did not practice Dorje Shugden. This is a falsity, as the above post has shown Kyabje Ling Rinpoche composed prayers to Dorje Shugden.

Extract from The Life of My Teacher: A Biography of Kyabje Ling Rinpoche in which Thupten Jinpa claims His Holiness the Dalai Lama was “comfortable” with Kyabje Ling Rinpoche because he did not practice Dorje Shugden. This is a falsity, as the above post has shown Kyabje Ling Rinpoche composed prayers to Dorje Shugden.

With the greatest respect to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and even to Thupten Jinpa, uttering such misleading words and repeating them, place them in grave danger of coming across as simply disingenuous and some might even say with apologies, deceitful.

You see, we no longer live in the dark ages where access to information is limited to a privileged few and technology has long closed the information and knowledge gap. We saw assuredly in the article above alone which in turn is based on facts and independent sources, that Kyabje Ling Rinpoche did not oppose the practice of Dorje Shugden. Far from it, he even encouraged the practice by writing prayers to propitiate the deity!

In any case, one would only need to rely on logic to see the hollowness of the argument such as that which Thupten Jinpa has repeated.

1. The simple fact is, it would be impossible to find any high lama who practices ALL Buddhas, Yidams (meditational deities), and Dharma Protectors in the entire Tibetan Buddhist pantheon. If a high lama does not practice a particular deity, it does not mean that the lama regards the deity as demonic. So for argument’s sake, even if Kyabje Ling Rinpoche had no association with Dorje Shugden (which he did) it would be wrong to conclude that he regarded Dorje Shugden to be demonic.

Does His Holiness the Dalai Lama practice every single deity in the Tibetan Buddhist pantheon? Did Kyabje Ling Rinpoche practice every single deity in Tibetan Buddhism? Does the Panchen Lama and the Karmapa and the high lamas of the holy Sakya and Nyingma lineages worship every single deity in Vajrayana? Would it be right to say that all the deities they do not practice and write prayers for, should be regarded as bad? This would be an absurd assertion.

Kyabje Ling Rinpoche DID trust Dorje Shugden although it may be reasonable to say that Dorje Shugden was not his main protector deity as had been the case for other high lamas such as Kyabje Pabongka Dechen Nyingpo, Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, Kyabje Zong Rinpoche, Kyabje Zemey Rinpoche and many more. But then again, Dorje Shugden has never insisted that every Gelugpa must worship him and before the ban, he was regarded widely as an emanation of the compassionate Manjushri, the Buddha of Wisdom.

2. Thupten Jinpa also alleged that His Holiness the Dalai Lama had said that he was comfortable and confident in Kyabje Ling Rinpoche because Ling Rinpoche supposedly did not practice Dorje Shugden. By extension, it implies that His Holiness felt discomfort and had a lack of confidence in Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche because he was a leading proponent of the Dorje Shugden practice. If that was the case, why did the Dalai Lama take teachings from Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche and receive initiations and empowerments from Trijang Rinpoche for over 30 years? Why would the Dalai Lama have taken active measures to find the reincarnation of Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche? That the Dalai Lama was involved is clearly narrated in the Epilogue to Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche’s official autobiography titled The Magical Play of Illusion. It would have been easy for the Dalai Lama to demand a change of tutor to one who did not practice Dorje Shugden. Instead he remained under his holy guru, Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche and spoke fondly of his teacher always.

As a matter of fact, His Holiness the Dalai Lama displayed tremendous trust in lamas who relied on Dorje Shugden:

  1. Kyabje Ling Rinpoche who wrote prayers to Dorje Shugden
  2. Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche whom the Dalai Lama referred to as a Buddha, not least of all in his Foreword to Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche’s autobiography
  3. Kyabje Zemey Rinpoche (Thupten Jinpa’s own Guru) whom the Dalai Lama trusted to be included in the party that accompanied him during his very important trip to China during negotiations with Chairman Mao
  4. Domo Geshe Rinpoche whose Dungkar Monastery the Dalai Lama turned to at the most crucial of times
  5. and more

And this is not to mention the fact that the Dalai Lama followed the instructions from the oracle of Dorje Shugden to a tee for his escape to India. These days it is common for critics of Dorje Shugden to insist that the Dalai Lama listened to the Nechung oracle for his escape and not Dorje Shugden’s advice. The Dalai Lama might have consulted a number of deities including Nechung in this important decision. But what is proven is that the Dalai Lama listened to Dorje Shugden’s advice not only to flee Tibet but also trusted the route Dorje Shugden prescribed and the manner by which the operation was to be carried out. There are official documents that prove Dorje Shugden issued very specific instructions for the escape, including what preparations to make, who should lead the escape convoy, which route to take and what to do along the way to lead the Dalai Lama to safety. And the Dalai Lama followed the instructions carefully, resulting in his safe arrival in India. On the other hand, there are no such documents to show that it was in fact Nechung’s advice that the Dalai Lama had followed.

3. It is very unfortunate that Thupten Jinpa who owes his very life, spiritual knowledge and acclaim to his teacher, Kyabje Zemey Rinpoche (a Dorje Shugden lama), repeats the denouncement of Dorje Shugden. Those who know of Thupten Jinpa’s life before he was famous would tell you that it was the erudite Zemey Rinpoche who put him on the path to become the Dalai Lama’s translator. It was well-known that Thupten Jinpa relied heavily on Dorje Shugden himself and would commission Dorje Shugden pujas before he set off on his journeys. To repeat anything that undermines the reputation of Dorje Shugden is tantamount to discrediting the good name of his own teacher. But perhaps Thupten Jinpa had no choice especially given the fact that his livelihood and fame depends on being on the good side of the Dalai Lama. It is well-known that it is ill-advised to upset the Tibetan leadership especially if one’s career depends on them. But it is sad that something like this has come to pass. Even those who are at the rudimentary level of practising Dharma know that we should never mislead others, or repeat untruths that harm others or repeat things we know to be wrong to make a living. But such is the damage the Dorje Shugden persecutions have inflicted that it has become common for truths to be distorted and done often enough, it becomes normal. So perhaps, Thupten Jinpa was forced to make a business decision albeit one that comes at a very high price.

Addendum

José Catalán Deus, born 1949 in Madrid, Spain, has a long professional career as a reporter and commentator. In the previous decade, he was a news correspondent in London, Rome and in Madrid for CNN Interactive and other American news agencies. The magazine that featured his article, Mas Alla is a Spanish magazine that features content from the esoteric, paranormal and the metaphysical realms.

Within this feature article, José Catalán Deus covered the Dorje Shugden issue and he also wrote and presented as a fact that Kyabje Ling Rinpoche practiced Dorje Shugden. Kyabje Ling Rinpoche is the senior tutor of the 14th Dalai Lama, and he composed a prayer to Dorje Shugden (as you can see above). It seems the Dalai Lama was surrounded by Shugden-practising lamas because His Holiness’ other tutor, Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, was famous for practicing and proliferating Dorje Shugden practice to innumerable incarnate lamas, geshes and ordinary monks in his lifetime. Due to their incredible work with the Dalai Lama, both of these esteemed tutors (yongdzin) remain highly revered in Tibetan society as Buddhas incarnate.

Unfortunately these days, many people in Dharamsala are encouraged by the Central Tibetan Administration to say that Kyabje Ling Rinpoche never practiced Dorje Shugden. However, those who were around at that time will know that this is a fabricated lie. There are many eyewitnesses who can confirm that Kyabje Ling Rinpoche was a practitioner of Dorje Shugden, and a lot of evidence to support this too. This article is one such proof and it can be considered credible because:

  1. It was published in 1997, before the Dorje Shugden ban escalated and became very big. At that time, people would have had no qualms about speaking the truth about the practice, because there was not yet any pressure to deny that someone practices Dorje Shugden.
  2. Mas Alla, the magazine itself, has no affiliations with Tibetan Buddhism but is inclined towards general spirituality and metaphysical issues. This would mean that the article was unbiased and unfiltered because the magazine did not have an interest or bias to publish articles leaning in a specific For or Against way.
  3. Similarly, the journalist Deus had no connections with Tibetan Buddhism to be inclined to write in favour of or against Dorje Shugden, or to make up any information. He would have written his article according to his own independent investigation. Hence, his unbiased research confirmed that both Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche practiced Dorje Shugden.

So, it is obvious that the journalist did his research well and spoke to the right people in order to reveal the truth. Due to its unbiased nature, this article refutes any fabrications, lies and misgivings about Kyabje Ling Rinpoche’s Dorje Shugden practice. It can be said with 100% certainty that Kyabje Ling Rinpoche most certainly did practice and rely upon Dorje Shugden.

From Más Allá Magazine

By José Catalán Deus, September 1997
[Translated from the original Spanish]

For the first time in history, the Dalai Lama is having to confront serious accusations made against him publicly for infringing the religious freedom and human rights of his own people. His attempt to eliminate a deity which he describes as ‘suspicious’ and ‘defiled’ is causing him, the highest Tibetan authority, endless problems. Even though the feared ‘demon’ is in fact harmless, the internal demons of Tibetan Buddhism seem to have woken up from their sleep.

Readers of Mas Alla de la Ciencia will remember that I have written two articles about the religious persecution which the Dalai Lama has implemented against one of the most revered of the countless number of deities within Tibetan Buddhism, a deity known as Dorje Shugden (see numbers 94 and 100). These articles were also recently published on the Internet. In these articles we can read about the ban of the worship of this deity, who has officially been declared as evil, about the persecution of his devotees, and public demonstrations by a number of dissidents who, for the first time in the history of the Tibetans in exile, accuse the Dalai Lama of being a dictator and an oppressor. Finally, there were three murders at the seat of the Tibetan government-in-exile, the court of Dharamsala, for which the dissidents were blamed. This was an obvious sign that ‘the blood had reached the river’ and that this quarrel, which at first just seemed like another of the countless quarrels that have characterised the history of this theocracy (which has not yet lasted a millennium), is becoming a story that has heavy consequences for the future of these people.

For this reason, it was not surprising that one day I received a message through the Internet from someone who complained about my bias in favour of the Dalai Lama, and who offered to tell me the other side of the story. This person was a Basque-born Buddhist nun called Kelsang Dewang, who has been studying with Geshe Kelsang Gyatso – known as Geshe-la by his followers. This Lama has been brave enough to contradict the orders of the Dalai Lama, to protest publicly against them, and to lead a movement of disobedience. The organisation that Geshe leads – the New Kadampa Tradition – not only regards the deity Dorje as a ‘divine emanation’ and one of their main spiritual practices, but is also an important group within Western Buddhism, since it is the one that is growing the most at present.

In this way, we started exchanging messages, with much discussion, not only about the decision of the Dalai Lama, but also about a little-known story of alleged abuse, persecution and despotism by the man who the media has enthroned as a symbol of tolerance and the embodiment of human rights. However, the new image presented by his critics is that of a man hungry for power, cruel to those who oppose him, and ruling the Tibetan government-in-exile with an iron hand while preaching compassion around the world.

The Demons of the Dalai Lama

But let’s do a bit of history. The Dalai Lama himself previously revered the deity Dorje Shugden, as had his tutors and teachers, until inexplicably in 1978 he changed his view and adopted a hostility [towards the deity]. Initially this hostility was expressed only within the complex labyrinth of his feudal court and in the puzzling organisation of the Tibetan religious apparatus in exile.

But in 1996 this repudiation of Dorje Shugden was made public and what until then had been only exhortations, often ignored, became prohibitions implemented with violent persecution of the followers of this [deity], now a so-called ‘demon’. The Dalai Lama presented his attack as a matter of life or death for the Tibetan cause. Dorje was portrayed as an evil being responsible for the failure to attain Tibetan independence and for many other problems. If he were not completely abolished forever, he would sink the Tibetan people into the greatest of catastrophes. He was even harmful to the life of the Dalai Lama, the highest leader in Tibetan Buddhism.

His assertions stunned the devotees of this deity, to the extent that the lama Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, director of the New Kadampa Tradition, ignored his orders, and his followers organised public demonstrations in England and Switzerland protesting against the Dalai Lama’s decision. Officials of Tibetan Offices, representing the Dalai Lama in the West, promptly relayed to the media accusations against the New Kadampa Tradition, describing it as a dangerous sect, worshippers of the devil, and people who had sold their soul to a Satanic cult in exchange for Mephistophelian favours of money and power. Dorje was portrayed as a demon, hungry for blood and responsible for a cult that brainwashed and financially exploited innocents who fell into its hands.

For this reason, doubts assailed me when Dewang, the Basque-born Tibetan Buddhist nun and member of the New Kadampa Tradition, invited me to see for myself that these accusations were completely false, to visit their main centre and interview their leader Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, and to know about Dorje Shugden directly. Thoughts such as ‘Am I going into the very mouth of the wolf by going to the headquarters of a fanatic group? What if the Dalai Lama was right and Dorje Shugden really bites?’ arose.

In the House of the ‘Demon’

The Manjushri Buddhist Centre is located in the north of England, five hours by train from London, next to a bay in the midst of idyllic green fields. It is a huge mansion, whose property includes a large wood, a beach and several secondary smaller buildings. It is certainly impressive, especially since the purchasing price twenty years ago was only £75,000, as Dewang hurried to tell me in order to counter rumours.

The problem of owning such a mansion, said Dewang, is not so much buying it but maintaining and repairing it. Religious communities are free from this problem as their members work diligently in exchange for room and accommodation, work being considered as ennobling. Dewang took me to see the new temple that was to be inaugurated in two weeks’ time, when more than 1600 followers of the New Kadampa Tradition from all around the world would be gathering for their annual festival. In stone, wood and glass, it is a magnificent place with capacity for about 700; a great work of art made exclusively by the members of the community. I saw impressive bronze statues ready to be placed in the shrine, monks sand-papering the wood and painting walls.

I was guided by Dewang around the whole property, going up and down a labyrinth of staircases, visiting large and beautifully-maintained meditation rooms, and listening to detailed explanations about the statues, mandalas, pictures and shrines of the vast pantheon of Tibetan Buddhism. I was introduced to some of the monks and nuns who had arrived from many of the 200 centres of the New Kadampa Tradition around the world. The fact that it was a mixed monastery, with [some people keeping] vows of chastity, gave the place a charming hippie touch. The nuns with their short hair had a good appearance; they looked at you smilingly, and you forgot that they were nuns. Their faces were beatific, and I couldn’t find anything that was weird or suspicious.

Finally I saw Dorje, as he appeared in Newsweek, holding a blazing sword and riding a wrathful white lion that steps over a human body. A Dorje of wrathful fangs and bulging eyes, including the third eye. Dewang explained that in Tibetan Buddhism there are thousands of beneficial deities with wrathful aspects, and that they only subdue evil and show their wrath against obstacles that prevent spiritual realisations.

I looked and looked at it, but I didn’t feel any fear. It reminded me of the silly things shown to children during the Valencian fallas [typical Spanish fiestas of Valencia]. It was placed in a huge glass cabinet surrounded by four other representations mounted on different animals. If the one mounted on a dragon was quite repulsive, the ones riding a horse and an elephant had kind faces. Perhaps to compensate for his wrathful representation, the most well-known, Dewang insisted on me looking at another of his manifestations, a handsome peaceful youth that seemed to have come out of a poster from the Chinese cultural revolution. Undoubtedly, I could see nothing that was strange, or which you would not see in any one of the hundreds of religious movements that presently exist around the world.

A New Portrait

Then the time came for me to meet with Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the thin and enigmatic person who from his photos seems difficult to reach (see the interview that follows). With his English and mine, we struggled to understand each other. He would continually put his hand at his heart to express that his objectives were pure. He looked happy and very little affected by the controversy. When we finished the interview, he surprised me with a hug and gifts of a bottle of non-alcoholic wine and a pen.

Then I had supper with James Belither, the Secretary of the New Kadampa Tradition, who lives in one of the little houses that surround the main building, and where the Buddhist families live. He is not a monk but a lay person, a gentle English man. That day he was a little taciturn as he told me of the difficulty of knowing the exact number of people affiliated to the New Kadampa Tradition, estimating that there are between two and four thousand. He explained that he could not understand why the Dalai Lama had launched such an absurd witch hunt, and expressed his concern about the possible future harmful effects of ill-intentioned rumours spread by some people against them.

From what I gathered in my conversations with Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the nun Dewang and James Belither, there emerged a surprising portrait of the Dalai Lama from which we can conclude that although he is considered a world hero, he is in reality a superstitious dictator who relies heavily on oracles and divinations. It also gave a dark description that tore through the idyllic veil of his propaganda; a scenario filled with intrigues more suited to a medieval court in which cruel feudal men fight to the death, while court favourites and sorcerers manipulate the sovereign. Demons and deities fighting to control people’s minds; spells and curses…

It was said, for example, that the new favourite medium or oracle of the Dalai Lama is a young girl who has recently arrived from Lhasa, expert in fanning the inquisitorial fire against the deity Dorje. Recently, in the middle of a public religious ceremony, this young girl, who invokes a favourite spirit of the Dalai Lama called Nechung, entered a trance and accused an old and respected lama of being a secret servant of the demonic deity [Dorje Shugden]. The old lama slapped her. Later, it was agreed to keep quiet about the incident.

At midnight I switched off the light, mindful that my door had no lock. I slept very well and woke up early in the morning. I had a walk in the woods, went down to the beach, looked at the various buildings and took some pictures. I spoke with a young monk from Barcelona who insisted that the way Geshe Kelsang Gyatso presents Tibetan Buddhism is much more accessible to Westerners than the way shown by other lamas and traditions. Later on, Dewang showed me the local prehistoric stone circle, and we also had time to visit the New Kadampa Tradition’s office. There was nothing else to see, nothing else to discuss, my stay had come to an end.

On the train back to London, I reflected on the conflict. It is a repeat of one that occurred three and a half centuries ago between the then-Dalai Lama and Ngatrul Dragpa. That conflict finished with the Dalai’s assumption of military-political power, the assassination of Ngatrul by [suffocation with] a katag (the traditional white silk scarf), the blaming of problems on the vengeance of Dorje, and the Dalai’s repentance. Would the story repeat itself again?

Intrigues at the Palace

For many years, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, guru of the New Kadampa Tradition, was not allowed to work independently until his followers threatened to expose publicly the dirty linen of a drug trafficking operation organised by certain organisations in order to finance Tibetan centres. The truth is that the growth of the New Kadampa Tradition in the West is causing fear to some, and is the envy of many. Its rapid development over the last six years provides Geshe Kelsang Gyatso with a growing leadership which is a threat to the Dalai Lama. Because of this, the followers of the Dalai Lama are trying to destroy Dorje Shugden, his protector and emblem. However, he has shown himself to be an independent figure and it will be difficult to silence him.

According to one of the personal translators of the Dalai Lama, there is a secret society, the self-styled Secret Organisation of External and Internal Enemy Eliminators [of Tibet] that has threatened to kill anybody who continues to practise Dorje Shugden. The translator, who has offered to prove and expand on his assertions, says that the accusations against the Dorje Shugden Society in Delhi of having planned the three recent assassinations at the court of the Dalai Lama are totally unfounded.

“The Lama who was killed in February 1997”, says the translator, “was known for his strong attacks on Dorje Shugden and those who worship him. It was said that he had returned from Taiwan just a few days before, carrying a lot of cash. Among the hypotheses that circulated at the palace-in-exile in Dharamsala about the motive of the crimes were: there was disagreement about the distribution of the money; Mr Gyalo, a brother of the Dalai Lama, was involved in the crimes, and that he was in contact with other secret organisations; the murders were committed by the Khampa guerrilla organisation that led the fight in 1959 and who are also in disagreement with the Dalai’s government; or by a desperate individual follower of Dorje Shugden; or by Chinese or Taiwanese secret agents; or even done purposely to incriminate the Dorje Shugden Society.”

The accusations that the Dalai Lama and his court are obsessed with eliminating internal dissents are also confirmed by this translator and Western monk: “While the Tibetan government-in-exile has shown itself powerless against the Chinese occupation, they have concentrated on repressing Tibetan opposition to the point of eliminating it, as is shown by the suspension in 1996 of the only independent newspaper in the Tibetan exile community, the recent amendment of the Tibetan Constitution so that a Supreme Judge cannot possibly be a devotee of Dorje Shugden, and by rejecting attempted mediation by abbots of the great monasteries.”

While the followers of the Dalai Lama say that the practitioners of Dorje Shugden are the Talibans of Tibetan Buddhism, they themselves did not show a very good example or good sense when, in July 1997, Lobsang Thubten, one of the leaders of the Dorje Shugden Society in New Delhi was furiously attacked by 200 followers of the Dalai Lama. On the other hand, the Shugdens deny allegations that they use their deity to obtain material and personal favours. They say that they rely on him only for help in their spiritual progress and in their praying for the happiness of all beings. The followers of the New Kadampa Tradition admit that pictures of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, their spiritual director, take pre-eminent place in their meditation rooms and that they also have special prayers for his long life but as they explain, this is a common practice in Tibetan Buddhism, in which the figure of the guru, or spiritual guide, is crucial.

In summary, all this indicates that the Dalai Lama will not stop until he manages to stop Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. And if the latter has the powerful deity and protector Dorje Shugden on his side, the Dalai Lama tries to counteract this power with his own protector, the spirit Nechung. Lama against lama and deity against deity, it is possible that behind this bloody religious battle, which is not short of threats, intrigues and assassinations, there hides manipulation, which is not spiritual, by a feudal monarchipope trying to eliminate a dangerous rival. On his side he has world public opinion, headed by Hollywood. But in matters of gods and demons one never knows….

The Friends of the ‘Evil One’

Among famous Lamas who have already passed away, Ling Rinpoche and Trijang Rinpoche, the tutors of the Dalai Lama, were probably the most renowned figures who worshipped the controversial deity and protector Dorje Shugden. But there are also many famous living Lamas and teachers whose responsibility has been to keep this tradition alive. Despite their cautious silence, they have all become direct opponents of the official line promulgated by the Dalai Lama, and many continue their practice in secret due to fear of reprisals.

Geshe Kelsang Gyatso: The Dalai Lama is Infringing Human Rights

The difficult responsibility of leading the opposition to the Dalai Lama has fallen into the hands of the highest authority in the New Kadampa Tradition, the independent and intellectual lama Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. But his disagreement goes further than the question of the intrinsic virtue or otherwise of a figure within the Buddhist pantheon. Behind his words, well measured and respectful, throb doubts and accusations of greater depth.

His private residence is on the second floor of Manjushri Buddhist Centre, on top of the visitors’ rooms and next to a meditation room where there is a big statue of Vajrayogini, a female Buddha with naked, swollen breasts who does not seem to take such prominence in orthodox monasteries.

Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s house is similar to an upper middle class apartment in any Western city. In the kitchen, next to a machine for making organic bread, I was served tea, and then in the sitting-room I finally met him, a gentle man of indefinite age – actually he is over sixty – who has published sixteen books over the last ten years, after completing a three-year retreat in which he alone knows what happened.
J.C. Deus: Is there a solution to the serious conflict that divides Tibetan Buddhism in relation to the ban on the practice of Dorje Shugden, the deity you regard as an emanation of the Buddha of Wisdom?
Geshe Kelsang Gyatso: If the Dalai Lama decided to give freedom and allow the practice of Dorje Shugden, the problem would finish automatically.
J.C. Deus: What steps should be taken to resolve the situation?
Geshe Kelsang Gyatso: The Dalai Lama has to understand that his ban and the methods his government-in-exile is using to implement it are illegal, cruel and inhumane. The Dalai Lama is infringing the human rights of many people.
J.C. Deus: Are there other important figures in Tibetan Buddhism who are disappointed with the Dalai Lama? If so, why don’t they make their criticism public?
Geshe Kelsang Gyatso: There are very many indeed who do not agree with him, but they cannot express their critical point of view for fear of reprisal. In Tibetan society, no one is allowed to express ideas that oppose those of the Dalai Lama. If you do, they will destroy you. They will discredit you to the point of making you a pariah, if they don’t resort to violence.
J.C. Deus: Is it possible that the Dalai Lama is just a moderniser of Tibetan Buddhism who is clashing with more traditional sectors? Or are you amongst those who think that he is hungry for power and wishes to monopolise all Tibetan religious and political power?
Geshe Kelsang Gyatso: The second description seems closer to reality.
J.C. Deus: What, in your opinion, is the real reason why on 14th July 1978 the Dalai Lama publicly went against the deity and protector Dorje Shugden?
Geshe Kelsang Gyatso: I think that there are many reasons. One of them was the influence of the spirit Nechung, the protector of the Dalai Lama. The oracle (medium) of Nechung with the consent of the Dalai Lama wants to have all the power. Many people think that jealousy was an important factor because the practice of Dorje Shugden was, and still is, very popular among many Lamas, including the tutors and root gurus of the Dalai Lama, as well as many scholars and thousands of other practitioners. But there is also a factor of ignorance and superstition, because the Dalai Lama based all his decisions to implement this ban on divinations, oracles and dreams. He himself says so in the discourse he gave in July 1978.
J.C. Deus: Do you think this is an attempt to stop the preponderance of the Gelug tradition in Tibetan Buddhism?
Geshe Kelsang Gyatso: Yes, this is clear.
J.C. Deus: Who is responsible for this problem, the Dalai Lama or the human oracle through whom the spirit Nechung manifests? Who is this oracle, how was he elected and whose interests does he represent?
Geshe Kelsang Gyatso: The Dalai Lama chooses everything. He also chose Nechung. I don’t know much about him but they themselves say he is a spirit.
J.C. Deus: It is said that the Dalai Lama has more oracles (mediums) than ministers, that he is surrounded by oracles and that he does not take a step without consulting them. What do you think about such reliance? Do you think that there is a hidden power at the palace in Dharamsala?
Geshe Kelsang Gyatso: This reliance is inappropriate. These methods of divination are often the source of many problems, conflicts and quarrels, and give rise to superstition. The person who gets into the habit of relying upon these methods ends up losing self-confidence, and there comes a time when he becomes incapable of taking a single decision by himself based on logical reasoning and using his own wisdom, or relying on the wisdom of other experts who could advise him. Buddha did not teach these methods; they are not Buddhist practices. About the second part of the question, whether or not there may be a hidden power in Dharamsala, all the power is in the hands of the Dalai Lama. If tomorrow he were to say that all Tibetans have to worship Dorje Shugden, they would put photos and images of this deity on their shrines. If the next day he said the opposite, they would remove all these images. This is his power.
J.C. Deus: Has the Tibetan government-in-exile failed? Do you think that the fight for independence should be abandoned and instead accept dependency on China?
Geshe Kelsang Gyatso: It is obvious that the Tibetan government-in-exile has failed in its principal task: to gain independence for Tibet. But I prefer not to comment about political matters, so I will abstain from replying to the second question.
J.C. Deus: How do you see the Dalai Lama’s role as a political Tibetan leader? Do you think that he may have become a puppet of the United States in its disputes with China?
Geshe Kelsang Gyatso: I think that it is a serious error to have a political leader who is at the same time a spiritual leader. Politics and religion are two different things, and to mix them gives rise to many political and religious problems. Often they use religious methods, such as devotion to the spiritual guide, to attain political objectives. It is very problematic. To me it is unacceptable that the government-in-exile forces all of us to take the Dalai Lama as our spiritual guide or guru. In Buddhism there is complete freedom; no one can force you to choose someone as your spiritual master, this is something that each of us has to choose with complete freedom.
J.C. Deus: Would you say that the Dalai Lama runs a dictatorship over the Tibetan exile community?
Geshe Kelsang Gyatso: Yes, in many aspects it is a dictatorship. There are no elections and an opposition is impossible in present Tibetan society, and these are two of the main characteristics of a dictatorship.
J.C. Deus: Finally, do you think that it was a serious mistake to have chosen the present Dalai Lama? Is it possible that he may not be the actual reincarnation of his predecessor?
Geshe Kelsang Gyatso: I think that political leaders should be elected democratically, and it is a mistake that the same person embodies and administers both the political and religious power of a country.

Interview with Kelsang Dewang, Buddhist Nun

The Dalai Lama makes decisions based on oracles, and dreams, and throwing little balls of dough into the air.

Despite her name, Kelsang Dewang is a Spanish nun who converted to Buddhism twenty years ago. She is the translator and personal assistant of the leader of the New Kadampa Tradition. As a practitioner of the deity Dorje Shugden, her voice has been listened to in this controversy, and presents a serious and critical point-of-view about the historical roots of Tibetan Buddhism and the present role of the Dalai Lama.
J.C. Deus: You are a practitioner of Dorje Shugden, a deity that is accused of being a demon and of taking the souls of those who worship him.
Kelsang Dewang: No, he is not a demon. He is a protector of Dharma and these protectors, by definition, are emanations of Buddhas or Bodhisattvas (realised and liberated beings), and the practitioner relies on them seeking help to attain spiritual realisations. Shugden is an emanation of the Buddha of Wisdom and one of the main protectors of the Gelugpa tradition.
J.C. Deus: Are we in fact facing a political conflict and a battle for power which is obscured by an apparent religious confrontation?
Kelsang Dewang: It could be, religion and politics are very much mixed in Tibetan society. The truth is that the Gelugpa Tradition is the most widespread and the most successful, and this always gives rise to jealousy and envy. It is a conflict that has its roots in the XVII century, but it is dreadful to bring these resentments into the present. It does not matter that some people think that Dorje Shugden is a spirit and others think that he is a Buddha. In democratic countries we have freedom, and we should also respect those who have different views to us. Besides this, they cannot prove that Dorje is an evil spirit. When they try to, they only tell superstitious stories. If someone has a bad dream, if someone gets sick, if the crops are not good, or if a Lama falls off a bicycle and dies, all these are blamed on Dorje Shugden. Just recently a young girl in Dharamsala was raped, and they immediately said that the perpetrator was a follower of Dorje Shugden. Tibetan culture is very superstitious, but this has nothing to do with Buddhism. Buddhism and Tibetan culture are two different things, and we have to learn carefully to unwrap the precious treasure of Dharma from the dirty wrappings in which we have received it.
J.C. Deus: It seems that the attack is not limited to Lama Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and to the New Kadampa Tradition, but that they are also trying to discredit the whole Gelugpa tradition by forbidding the essential practices of this tradition. News has been heard that some of the Lamas of this lineage have been discredited. Are there any details of this situation?
Kelsang Dewang: It has been said that they have started to suppress the practice of Lama Chöpa, and that the Dalai Lama has also publicly criticised the famous Jamyang Shaypa. But the principal objects of the attack are the lamas that have brought the Gelugpa tradition into the present day, Pabongkha Rinpoche and Trijang Rinpoche. This criticism implies that they were not realised beings, but were ordinary beings with delusions, so it would follow that their teachings lack blessings and are not valid. From this it would follow that the Gelugpa Tradition is a degenerate path. But the paradox is that the Dalai Lama himself was educated as a Gelugpa, and received all his instructions from Trijang Rinpoche, his root guru, whom he now criticises. In reality, in Tibetan society there has never been any democracy. In the VIIth century in Tibet they threw criminals over a cliff, and in the XXth century the way of punishing those who oppose the Government has not changed so much, even in exile.

Before the present Dalai Lama escaped to India, members of his government assassinated the great Gelugpa Lama Reting Rinpoche. He was poisoned in 1947, after it was decided that to throw him over a cliff was not an appropriate way to kill a lama of such rank. And this lama was killed just because he did not agree with the government’s activities. Because of these reprisals, Tibetans are forced to wear two masks: with one they smile to the Dalai Lama, and with the other they criticise him. All the power is held by the Private Office of the Dalai Lama and its orders have to be followed at all costs. No one has the opportunity to express a different view. This institution [the Private Office] is in charge of passing on information to the people. When it criticises someone for holding different views, and that person does not retract his views or keep silent, he will start receiving threats. Many people feel unhappy for other reasons also. For example, the Dalai Lama and his government have spent the last twenty six years fund-raising for the purpose of Tibetan independence, but now the Dalai Lama says that he is not interested in the independence of Tibet, so for this reason many people feel that they have been cheated.
J.C. Deus: What is the relationship between the Dalai Lama and other schools and traditions?
Kelsang Dewang: The Dalai Lama has a very bad relationship with the other main Tibetan Buddhist tradition, the Kagyupas. Recently they underwent a lot of suffering due to the interference of the Dalai Lama in the choice of the reincarnation of the new Karmapa, the head of the Kagyupas. The Dalai Lama forced the recognition of a boy that the Chinese authorities had recognised as the new Karmapa, but the Kagyupas had already found a boy they believed to be the true incarnation. Besides, the Dalai Lama has no power to recognise officially this reincarnation and in doing so, he has divided the Kagyupas into two main factions: those who follow the Dalai Lama and those who follow Shamar Rinpoche, the lama in charge of recognising the Karmapas. Consequently, the Tibetan Government has done everything possible to make this lama another pariah. In Gelugpa society, the problems created by the ban of the practice of Dorje Shugden has forced many lamas and monks, who cannot accept abandoning their religious practice, to escape to Nepal or Mongolia. Many monks demonstrated, and several of them were expelled from their monasteries.
J.C. Deus: Nechung is the spirit protector of the Dalai Lama. How does he manifest?
Kelsang Dewang: Nechung is a worldly spirit, they say so themselves. Tibetans like spirits and divinations very much. In the New Kadampa Tradition, we do not follow these methods because we do not consider them to be truly Buddhist. In my opinion, often the medium or oracle is just a good actor. When the spirit has entered the body of the oracle, people ask questions and he replies. I find this way of answering questions incorrect and open to criticism, because often a medium will reply according to his personal interests. Also, I cannot understand why the Dalai Lama, if he is an enlightened being as some say, needs to consult a worldly spirit. The Dalai Lama decided that he had to ban the worship of Dorje Shugden following the advice he received from the spirit Nechung transmitted via a medium. The writings of the Dalai Lama confirm that he makes his decisions based on divination through oracles, dream interpretation and throwing little balls of dough into the air. Considering that his internal and external political activities are based on these methods of discrimination, we should not be surprised that in all these years in exile he has [only] managed mainly to become one of the idols of Hollywood stars. Besides, the spirit Nechung is notorious for making many mistakes. The 13th Dalal Lama died because Nechung gave him poison by mistake.
J.C. Deus: Do you think that the Dalai Lama has degenerated?
Kelsang Dewang: A being of high realisations cannot degenerate. There is a point on the spiritual path when it is impossible to go backwards. It is not possible for the Dalai Lama to be a Buddha and then to degenerate; therefore, the only possibility is that he is an ordinary being and his actions are showing it. A real Buddhist does not need to be afraid of spirits, so why should he be?

Kyabje Yongzin Ling Rinpoche is a Tibetan buddhist scholar and teacher. He was one of the most renowned and qualified masters of the 20th century. . He was very learned and an accomplished writer, poet and expert on grammar. Whereby many of his students included masters from all four Tibetan Buddhist schools. Kyabje Yongzin Ling Rinpoche throughout his life gave many public and private teachings and initiations in Tibet, India, and many part of Europe and North America. Prior to Kyabje Ling Rinpoche, three earlier incarnations of Ling Rinpoche were tutors for previous Dalai Lamas. Ling Rinpoche spent most of his life giving teachings, transmissions, and initiations to devout practitioners. Many even considered Ling Rinpoche a living embodiment of this wrathful manifestation of Manjusri. Interesting read of a great Lama/

We are so blessed hearing a sacred, holy recording of the two holy tutors of the Dalai Lama performing a Dorje Shugden kangsol (puja). Great masters HH Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and HH Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche chanting the powerful puja to Dorje Shugden. Both of them were the tutors of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. This is definitely has proven that HH Kyabje Ling Rinpoche had a close connection with Dorje Shugden. HH Kyabje Ling Rinpoche has even composed a combined prayer offering to propitiate the blessings of this enlightened Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden, which no one can denied. Both Kyabje Ling Rinpoche , Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche and many Highly attained lamas of Tibet did propitiate Dorje Shugden lamas of Tibet. That’s the truth which cannot be hidden. But HH Dalai Lama insists that Ling Rinpoche, his own tutor, never relied on Dorje Shugden at all. Interesting read, may more people know the truth and understand better of the Dorje Shugden controversy.
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor Khong Jean Ai for this wonderful sharing .

Naw I’ve decided to keep practicing even going past the seeds and geshe michael.

Dorje shugden power here we come.

No harm meant but I had to destroy those dorje shugden tsa tsa s and ended up actually breaking bread instead.

I gave the homeless a jade buddha for Christmas and reminded the center that followers of buddha would never starve as buddha promised.

Then $20 bill blew into his lap while sitting out front my temple.

He said he was hungry and wished he had some food when the money came to him on a gust of wind.

Well the story sounds great but then he started cussing out black people and ended up having to be restrained by one of the staff that had had their life threatened.

The new worker threw him on the floor and vajrayogini was disappointed cuz he got mad…and then generated heresy about me.

I was able to try to deal with it …anyway.

This all happened after i destroyed the amulets and banished shugden and even there was a small crystal that appeared outside the door of where I put them and so I buried it out in the park as to keep him away.

Then after all this I was watching some more youtube videos on how to summon voodoo gods so I figured I would bring him back.

Also I got very ill from food poisoning and could taste poison in my mouth as it was likely on purpose by someone at the pantry but I was luckily able to take it.

So anyway I ordered him back.

So hopefully this is the last time anyone.will.doubt.him or us!

Just wanted to say after all that that I don’t see dorje shugden sadhana as any different then vajrayogini.

    • Lama Shenphen Tulku Rinpoche on Jan 5, 2019 at 4:20 am

With that said i have ordered 4 dorje shugden tsa tsas for my apartment one for every room.

I have basically finished up with amulets.

I am not planning on collecting anymore…for now.

      Just focus on dorje shugden.

I think it will help much with the feng shui and I am praying the recertification goes smoothly next Thursday.

Then just another yearly inspection and we should be good for the new year ahead.

When dealing with problems that can’t be seen or believed dorje shugden is quick and efficient.

I hope that inviting these new tsa tsa s will protect my apartment and bless myself and those around me as we practice dorje shugden and follow his command.

      Peace be with you.

        Hi
I just wanted to say that geshe michael really has been my greatest sponsor is what one high lama said at the temple blessing in Arizona at diamond mountain but he has been more to me than that even. He has been like a father.

So I will say if there’s anyone to thank it would be him.

I cannot begin to thank you enough.

Even my own father who I realized was higher than the Tibetan, Djwahl Kuhl, and who taught me the meaning of renunciation as a boy when I left Camelot and was a true buddha I was told, who I still keep in touch with every single day

        Still

        I think of geshe michael.

Just knowing geshe michael I feel I am the luckiest person on earth besides him!

And I know that my life has meaning…in fact it is truly precious, more so than a wishfulfilling gem.

Therefore I am adopting the new view of planting seeds as my own.

Feeling that I have gained success with the teachings before and now i am willing to approach them from a new angle which should be more aligned with the needs of others I should even be able to achieve things that would not seem possible before…

I think that should only make sense as we advance in our practice we are sometimes taught different things…maybe which even contradict previous patterns of conditioning and this is how to keep the teachings vibrant.

I do hope that it is able to reach more people this way and that dorje shugden practice will no longer be not mentioned.

        Thnx

    No hard feelings.

    Goodbye.

    • Lama Konchok Shenphen on Dec 18, 2018 at 12:38 pm

At the end of the day it doesn’t matter that dorje shugden was the reason I was persecuted but now the damage is done he’s perfectly alright…in fact he’s better than me. When before we couldn’t even mention his name but now that I’m all day and defeated from the torture now shugden is more than okay to practice…he’s only an enlightened worldly protector but is somehow higher? No…its not true. They are trying to make you plant bad seeds. So you end up rejecting shugden when you think you are hyping him up cuz I got basically martyred because of him so he’s better than me…no. If you think this you are also rejecting shugden and going along with the shugden haters. They know there’s no way to win now so they will let you think you are doing the right thing but in reality you aren’t. They are getting desperate because I am still speaking out so they have to silence me the way they try to shugden. So they are making me look like the enemy. By inflating shugden. Then they can control him…but it is not him. It is the fools they think they are controlling who go along with it by accepting my torture as a just punishment and elevating shugden above me. I ask you this? If I suffered for shugden why would they elevate shugden? To get you to believe that I don’t have a connection with him. This is the only way to destroy shugden. So please be aware of the tactics. I assure you shugden is not higher than me because I was tortured for his sake neither am I higher than him. He came to me in my time of need and I said I would do whatever he asked. So now I see this had to be said. It was a lie that got me into trouble in the first place but it was shugden who protected me. If this makes him a bad protector it also makes me a bad lama. I will say though after my abuse it makes even more sense for me to worship shugden because now it is even easier to see he is an enlightened being. But to see me as lower is not true.

      • Lama Konchok Shenphen on Dec 25, 2018 at 8:42 pm

In fact I have outgrown him. You can have him back…

        • Lama Konchok Shenphen on Dec 29, 2018 at 5:37 pm

Giving up on dorje shugden would be giving up on myself!

I got new management at my apartment building so I reblessed the place and so dorje shugden wanted to come back so of course I said ? yes!

So now we will see how it goes for another year together.

          Bless you all
          Lks

          • Lama Konchok Shenphen on Dec 29, 2018 at 7:15 pm

Well I am not sure what to do…I promised the protector and then I used the seeds to go over him and well yes he is empty so it doesn’t really matter.

It just worked out like that.

So right now I am not practicing dorje shugden I am just planting seeds.

I have no choice but not to based on the fact I was not made aware up front that what I was practicing was what it was…had it been…would I have ever called on him?

            Probably not.

If I can say that is a bad thing then so be it.

Better is nothing then the good thing.

So I choose to not do shugden anymore.

Even though I made an oath I dissolved it.

So all of you have a nice day.

  6. Lama Konchok Shenphen on Dec 17, 2018 at 1:15 am

I’m sure as you all know there is the dorje shugden controversy and you could take sides with me and I could take sides with dorje shugden or I could honor my lama wishes and just stay out of this forever and that is what I am going to do.

Good luck to all of you.

    • Lama Konchok Shenphen on Dec 17, 2018 at 9:40 am

Well it turns out on further examination that actually dorje shugden would be allowed with geshe michael but only as a front to loose credibility for dorje shugden practice So I saw through the lie in time and take back what I said you are better off trusting me and dorje shugden…no other lama is needed.

Thank you rinpoche mine is not giving up on getting money or raising funds. Lama Dawa when he was alive said I should have norlha yangyab recited on my behalf 100 times. I ended up having it recited many hundred.

The first time was interesting I had vision of doctor come and write me check. He dead now.

He said life was just a series of mistakes and that if I wanted to be on ptp and have a guardian so be it.

It was around this time I had decided to stop taking medication many years ago when I was told to sit down and watch tv.

I decided I would cheek it and spit it out like I saw in the scientology video as this was my only hope.

Then it was the psychiatrist I think said it was okay cuz I was thinking about it for many days before I got confirmation in a vision.

After that I took the needle and used yogi chen green tara amulet so that only the karmic body got the needle which is how I was ultimately able to become free of it.

Now I am collecting arjan o amulets and he is my guru.

    Dear friends,

Tibet has produced many powerful meditations, rituals and guidelines to help us gain spiritual protection, gain wisdom and higher states of consciousness. In general Tibet has produced many powerful methods for the growth of our spiritual evolution. Dorje Shugden is an angel, a saint, a powerful spiritual protector-warrior who originated 350 years ago when a highly awakened Tibetan Lama fulfilled his vows to become a special being to grant protection, wisdom, material needs, safety when travelling (normal and astral travel) and spiritual awakening. Both the Great 5th Dalai Lama and the current His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama composed short yet effective prayers to invoke upon the power and blessings of this special saint and protector. One can recite either one of the prayers that you feel suits you, anytime or even daily. When you feel a special need for help, you can recite either prayer anytime. When you are feeling down, afraid or just need a blessing, you can recite them. After reciting either invocation, it is good to chant the mantra of Dorje Shugden: Om Benza Wiki Bitana Soha.

You do not have to be a Buddhist or practitioner of any religion to invoke upon the blessings and protection of this special enlightened and awakened angel Dorje Shugden. He helps all without discrimination or bias as he is filled with compassion and love. Divinity has no boundaries, they help all who call upon them.

Enclosed are the prayers in English, Chinese and Tibetan.

May you be safe, protected and blessed.

Divination (‘mo’) Text by Dorje Shugden

This is an important divination (‘mo’) text composed by Dorje Shugden himself. Dorje Shugden took trance of the Choyang Dulzin oracle lama, the senior oracle of Gaden Shartse Monastery, and instantly on the spot composed this text within two hours.

The divination text contains information on how to use dice to do divination for the future and is known to be highly accurate. When practitioners use this text, they will be in direct contact with Dorje Shugden to get answers to questions about the future. It is for those who have good samaya with Dorje Shugden and are free of the eight worldly dharmas to be of benefit to others in divining the future.

      I’m gonna call on Jesus.

You guys that’s my only hope this problem I admit is too big for me

It is only causing me more stress to ruminate on it

To be honest with you its the torture … Its been 14 years since they took me from Rashid gempil ling

      Where rinpoche used to study

I tried to take the easy way out in the hospital and spit out the drugs but they knew and would from then on force feed it to me or shoot me up.

I would go off them again and again only to be force medicated again and started gaining a lot of weight.

When I got the chance I would loose it once I was off it.

As soon as I started to feel better they would put me back in the hospital and back on it again…
Or in a group home and Court order me to take the shots outside the hospital or be forced back in.

So I almost have the meds out of my system again and I am free.

The effects of the torture though for the last 14 years has left me less than well.

I sort of wish that they would just hurry up and put me back in the hospital cuz it seems to good to be true. It is like a dream despite the horrible withdrawal symptoms and massive weight gain.

I am forced to depend on people for things like grocery shopping and such and I don’t like them.

I can tell they think there’s something wrong with me and I’ve grown to hate what they did to me.

I wish I could be left alone.

I am a ward of the state now so that I have no right to say…legally. As I have been found incapacitated by the court and incapable of making my own decisions…

Even though I don’t agree with it.

I believe they are trying to stop me from practicing buddhism.

      And dorje shugden.

I don’t know what to do.

      Oh well.

      I give up.

      Lks

Well everyone…me and dorje shugden are still as tight as ever as he has shown his power as I knew he would. I would not tell you to take my word for it but ask him. If you are true in your intent it will come true.

        Whatever you may ask.

I pray you all are well and dorje shugden blesses you supremely!

I will keep practicing him personally as I know can see that the benefits I’m reaping I have seen no other practice compare.

Yes I have been tortured like the tibetan lama but that was just my karma…to be locked up and abused and poisoned to the verge of death has made me ?.

I am 500 pounds and perfectly healthy but I don’t take any medication.

In fact I have been able to teach the pen to the psychiatrist even.

I was afraid he was going to tell but not anymore.

I know my practice has not been perfect as I have been constantly watched and tried to reform from my dorje shugden practice but I have not given up my belief.

I could explain more but it is not necessary only to know that I trusted dorje shugden and he got me through it!

If I can do it so can you!

Don’t be scared to practice dorje shugden.

Practice him anyway and you will see how much he helps!

        It is really amazing…

So I have to say goodbye.

    Sorry

    #no more dorje shugden allowed

  14. Lama Konchok Shenphen on Oct 31, 2018 at 1:39 am

    Hi,

I see the situation despite whether I support or not dorje shugden practice the discrimination still goes on which I cannot agree with.

As far as what geshe michael teaches you should still be able to practice dorje shugden based on the view of highest wisdom.

Therefore we should put aside our differences and accept one another for whatever practice they choose as it does not effect the dorje shugden practitioners any less as far as the dharma is concerned ultimately whether you view them as wrong or right as it is.

Your view of dorje shugden does not necessarily effect mine whether you say he is what he is or he is what he isn’t.

Lets just put an end to all the rumors.

He is neither bad nor good.

He is a projection of your own mind dependent on how you have treated others in the past.

If you say he is bad that is your bad karma.

If you say he is good that is your good karma.

Whatever he is entirely depends on you.

If you want to see the buddha then you should treat him like a buddha.

If you want to see him as a demon then a demon.
Me personally I would not want that karma.

So I see him as my friend and protector who would help me in a time no one else would and whom I vowed to follow what he said to the tee.

    • Lama Konchok Shenphen on Nov 2, 2018 at 8:44 pm

I should also add that I did not know I was practicing dorje shugden when I started the practice I thought it was setrap. However after much internal debate I was able to release myself from my bond to him based on this fact…it would not be fair to sign up for a protector and only to find out he is not supposed to be practiced in the first place. I did meet the criteria though not to need a protector according to rinpoche namely realizing bodhichitta. And I also have his blessing not to practice it anymore.

If this is not clear I don’t know what more I can say.

      Thank you

      • Lama Konchok Shenphen on Nov 2, 2018 at 11:45 pm

Well I have fenagled a way to keep practicing either way because the shugden haters are so devious we have to be twice as devious…I mean keep our vows and help others. I am not gonna say exactly how but I am using my ultimate enlightenment to or smart them. So we are good to go tsem tulku I am not afraid to practice anymore. I dedicate all my hard work to you concerning this issue and for you to please pray for me and the peer center. Thank you all! Praise dorje shugden.

A Daily Request for Wealth, Peace and Protection

    Composed by H.E. Tsem Rinpoche

In the heavens there are myriad manifestations of the divine. All those manifestations specifically show us different aspects of divinity in order to be of benefit to all living beings. All the rupakaya forms of the divine have compassion, skillful means and wisdom. We invoke upon them whether we are happy, sad, down, lost, fulfilled, confused, empty, and during the whole range of emotions we constantly experience due to an untrained mind.

Understanding our nature, Great Wisdom Being Dorje Shugden, therefore all the more so, please hold us close to your bosom as an only child to a parent.

Though the manifestations of the divine need no offerings and gifts from us, we offer you supreme Manjushri Dorje Shugden a libation of tea, incense and mantras, in order to ask you to bless us, to be a part of our lives, to abide in our dwellings and to give us signs, omens and portents of both good and bad. When the negative arises, quell them immediately. Please increase the positive for my weary and worn mind as I lay my hopes in you.

When difficulties, problems and confusion arise, we ask you, who is but the culmination of all that is powerful, holy and omniscient to bless myself, family, loved ones, environment and even my pets. May I see wisdom, find hope, and be at peace.

I request you, O Divine Bhagavān Dorje Shugden, who wears a round dome hat and the three robes of a saffroned bhikshu, who wields a sword of liberty, justice and wisdom and clutches a wish-fulfilling jewel, who rides on a supreme lion of subjugation of all that is negative, to fulfill my wishes. I understand my wishes may not be the best, so I surrender to your wisdom for the outcome though it may not be what I have in mind. Please bless myself and everyone that we may enter into the supreme city of liberation.

Great Bhagavān Dorje Shugden, I request you sincerely from my heart to be a part of my life, bless my home, and grant me wisdom, solace and comfort, that I might be of service to others without agenda, and that I may focus out onto others and not be fixated on myself, creating more problems for all that I hold dear.

Bless me to become kinder, wiser, more compassionate, tolerant and very forgiving to all those who hurt and love me. In order to become close to you, Dorje Shugden, we must surrender the banal. We must abandon fixed views, projections and rigidity. Lastly, in my final moment when I leave this plane of existence, only the positive actions I have done will matter as everything and everyone will be left behind. Let me realise this and act upon this now! At this crucial moment, please may I have a vision of yourself, the powerful and merciful Dorje Shugden, to take me to where I may course in the sky to continue my journey of spiritual waxing.

I offer you saffron-coloured tea and my faith to fulfill my prayers and gain siddhis. By reciting your mantra, may healing, peace, love, long life, protection and perfect view of sunyata arise.

Mantra of fulfillment, peace and wisdom:

    OM BENZA WIKI BITANA SOHA

(It is good to recite this mantra daily as much as you like or your timing allows.)

I dedicate this supreme heartfelt prayer to the all-knowing Celestial and Supreme Protector Dorje Shugden, that I may quickly become a being of light, compassion, love and enlightenment.

COMPASSION at its best: His Holiness the Dalai Lama explained in Ladakh, 31 July 2018:

“Usually at the beginning of an empowerment there is a ritual to drive away interferences. But I no longer feel it’s consistent to regard some beings as evil forces. At the start of each day I cultivate altruism, but in the evening we say, ‘May the evil forces be driven away.’ There seems to be a contradiction here that I’m no longer keen to comply with. I’m not highly realized, but I have great confidence in the power of Bodhichitta.”

    Source: https://bit.ly/2wVsqSb

    ———————————————-

This latest statement by His Holiness the Dalai Lama is excellent. I fully believe in his compassion and I hope he will fully implement it.

All negative beings take rebirth with negative minds due to deep attachments. The attachments result in negative states of rebirth and angry minds that carry out harmful actions, like spirits or hungry ghosts who can be very bothersome because they are very angry as they died in the state of attachment in their former rebirths.

Indeed we need to generate compassion towards these beings, especially the formless type, as it would be the best remedy to stop their harm. We can recite mantras with love and bless them with it. While reciting prayers, we can meditate on them being at peace. When we generate compassion towards these harmful interferences of the formless type, many of them will calm down and stop their harm and even go away. Some of them, you can talk to them and subdue their harm and they will stop harming completely if they feel your love. That is how you can help them.

Many high masters of India and Tibet generated great compassion towards certain ghosts, spirits or interferers and subdued them in this manner and even made them into protectors of regions. I’ve witnessed this with one of my lamas where he subdued a female spirit that crossed over the Himalayas. After making the spirit promise it will not harm others, my lama gave the spirit a drink to seal the promise.

Since the Dalai Lama has manifested saying Dorje Shugden is negative (although many high lamas disagree), then he can apply this method to Dorje Shugden. He can ‘subdue’ Dorje Shugden by generating tremendous love, prayers and talking nice to Dorje Shugden who will be ‘subdued’. Then people are henceforth ‘free’ to practice Dorje Shugden without more discrimination, segregation and being called degrading names for practicing this protector.

Give peace a chance. His Holiness the Dalai Lama can generate great love towards Dorje Shugden and all the hundreds of thousands of Dorje Shugden practitioners that love the Dalai Lama and miss him like I do. May His Holiness the Dalai Lama bring peace and heal the rift with Dorje Shugden practitioners.

May His Holiness live very long and always be healthy,
    Tsem Rinpoche

Apparently though that is not the answer because still dorje shugden practice is remaining strong. So I really have no need for geshe michael since i am already enlightened and i practice dorje shugden. Nonetheless I still have hope for him. I guess if you consider the fact that I was a student of his llama and I got enlightened only after he died still though before I saw geshe michael again I can just forget about him too if that is gonna be the case with dorje shugden. He said people would have to choose llamas…then choose me and dorje shugden. That’s all. Then we will meet with you geshe michael and see if things changed.

For the first time available, Dorje Shugden and his entourage of 32 asssistants of his mandala.

Dorje Shugden is a powerful protector deity who is also an emanation of Manjushri, a wisdom bestowing Buddha. Therefore, he has great ability to help us to progress further on the spiritual path. He does this by helping us to overcome obstacles and problems for the modern individual.

Due to his enlightened nature, Dorje Shugden is able to manifest 32 deities and within the same abode resides Setrap and Kache Marpo:-

    1. 5 Dorje Shugden families or emanations. They consists of the following:-

    – Dulzin Dorje Shugden, which performs activities to eliminate inner and outer obstacles.
    – Shize, which performs activities to pacify all illnesses and disease.
    – Gyenze, which performs activities to increase all desirable material and spiritual wealth.
    – Wangze, which performs activities to control difficult people and circumstances.
    – Trakze, which performs activities to wrathfully eliminate all insurmountable obstacles and life-threatening situations.

    2. 9 Mothers. They represent protection of the five senses and developing control of the four elements. These are all attributes that signify their ability to assist tantric practitioners with their higher meditations.

    3. 8 Guiding Monks. They represent the Eight Great Bodhisattvas (Avalokitesvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Samantabhadra, Maitreya, Kshitigarbha, Akashagarbha, Sarva-nivarana-viskambini) and they bring about the growth of the Dharma, through the Sangha, Dharma practitioners and Dharma establishments.

    4. 10 Youthful & Wrathful Attendants. They represent the ten wrathful attendants to avert inner and outer obstacles. They are beings who are from Mongolia, China, Kashmir, India, Bengali, etc.

    5. Setrap. He is a senior Dharma Protector from India and an emanation of Amitabha Buddha. He had enthroned Dorje Shugden as an authentic Dharma Protector. Therefore, he also resides within the same mandala of Dorje Shugden.

    6. Kache Marpo. He is not an emanation of Dorje Shugden but he is still an enlightened Dharma Protector in his own right. He was originally known as Tsiu Marpo of Samye Monastery. However, he has placed himself under the service of Dorje Shugden as his chief minister, performing many activities in order to protect and benefit practitioners. Therefore, he stands guard at the main entrance of Dorje Shugden’s mandala. He often takes trance of qualified mediums to speak.

    7. Namkar Barzin. He is the reincarnation of an old Mongolian monk and when he passed away in Phari area of Tibet, his spirit was placed as a powerful assistant of Dorje Shugden. He guards and protects buildings and great institutions especially those that benefit others. He rides on a mythical Gyaling animal that resembles a goat but with scales.

These sacred images are available on *Vajrasecrets. They are made of high quality alloy and are one of a kind. They are based on the lineage of His Holiness Panchen Rinpoche’s monastery, Tashilhunpo in Shigatse, Tibet. In fact, the iconography of these statues are based on detailed photographs taken by H. E. Tsem Rinpoche during a trip to Tashilhunpo’s protector chapel. These are based exactly as the 10th Panchen Lama’s personal collection.

His Holiness the 10th Panchen Lama

Tibetans commonly refer to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama as the “sun and moon” of Tibetan Buddhism. They are the center of Tibetan Buddhist civilization, which draws to its sphere of influence millions of non-Tibetan practitioners. The Panchen Lama’s incarnation line began with the 16th abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen (1570 – 1662). He was bestowed the title of Panchen Lama by His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama after being declared as an emanation of Amitabha.

After being given the title, his three previous incarnations were posthumously also bestowed the title, making Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen the 4th Panchen Lama. He became a teacher to many Tibetans, Bhutanese and Mongolian religious figures, including His Holiness the 4th and 5th Dalai Lamas, and the 1st Jetsun Dampa of Mongolia. A prolific author, Chokyi Gyeltsen is credited with over a hundred compositions, including a number of commentaries and ritual texts that remain central in the Gelukpa tradition today. Along with his role as a teacher of the Dharma, the Panchen Lamas are usually responsible for the recognition of the rebirths of the Dalai Lamas, and vice versa.

The 10th Panchen Lama, Lobsang Trinley Lhundrub Chokyi Gyeltsen (19 February 1938 – 28 January 1989) continued both the spiritual and political roles of his predecessors. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, his contemporary, was even heard to say and echo the Panchen Lama’s own words that the Dalai Lama would safeguard Tibet from the outside while the Panchen Lama would safeguard Tibet from the inside, as he never left Tibet after the political troubles of 1959. He was truly loved by the Tibetans, all the way until his passing. When he taught, thousands of people would attend, not only from his own Gelug lineage, but masters and practitioners from all traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.

At his sprawling monastery of Tashi Lhunpo, he has a special chapel specifically dedicated to Dorje Shugden, where prayers and rituals are performed on a daily basis. In his great omniscience the Panchen Lama held Dorje Shugden as the principal Dharma protector of the monastery. He also personally propitiated Dorje Shugden among other Dharma protectors, and even wrote extensive prayers and rituals to Dorje Shugden. These rituals and prayers are contained within his ‘sung bum’ or collected works, which are provided here. As such a great lama, with an erudite and clear understanding of the Buddhist scriptures, a teacher to millions in both Tibet and China, from an established incarnation line and an emanation of the Buddha Amitabha, he could not be mistaken about his practice of Dorje Shugden.

His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama is known for his composition of commentaries and practice texts that are still in use by contemporary Buddhist practitioners both in Tibet and across the world. One of these is a powerful ritual composition propitiating the compassionate Dorje Shugden.

Upon the request by Acharya Lobsang Jangchub to compose a shorter version of the prayer (sadhana) for the exhortation of activities of Dorje Shugden, Panchen Lama immediately composed an abbreviate form of Dorje Shugden’s Kangsol. This text is entitled “Manjunatha’s (Tsongkapa) Lineage protector Dorje Shugden and five forms wrathful propitiations and confessional prayers and fulfilment of activities rites” or “Melodious sound of Accomplishment of the Four Activities” for short. Once the prayers were completed, he had signs and strong feelings that Dorje Shugden has been working hard to protect the Buddhadharma in general and the lineage of Lama Tsongkhapa specifically.

Mirroring the abilities of one of his earlier incarnations, Khedrub Je, a disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa and master of both sutra and tantra, the Panchen Lama used his compositional skill and poetic prowess to create a masterful sadhana. Worthy of note is a praise in which the first letter of each verse is a Tibetan vowel. Such compositions are rarely seen, and have historically only been used when propitiating senior Dharma protectors such as Palden Lhamo and Kalarupa.

The Panchen Lama also stated that while composing the Dorje Shugden sadhana (prayers) he was filled with a sense of happiness and bliss. He ends the composition with not only his official title but his ordination name, Tenzin Trinley Jigme Choje Wangchuk, endorsing the validity of his work. He composed the sadhana in his own Tashi Lhunpo monastery while in the Hall of Clear Light and Bliss.

    Dear Kecharians and friends,

Last night, I gave a teaching to a group of people who were in Kechara Forest Retreat. I shared with them the correct way to pray for our loved ones and why we shouldn’t “demand” Dorje Shugden with fulfilling our wishes but let Dorje Shugden decide what is the best outcome. He has infinite Manjushri wisdom beyond our own and we should trust this wisdom. Sometimes what we pray for is not what should be fulfilled. Sometimes what we don’t want turns out to be the better result in the future.

I also shared with them about a beautiful monk, Tsawa Pulthok Rinpoche, who was jailed and badly tortured by the soldiers for 19 years, starting back in 1959 in Lhasa, and yet he has no anger towards his torturers. He was released and had resettled in Nepal where I met him. For the remainder of his life, he spent his time in meditation, retreats and pujas for the public until he passed. He was glowing, happy and very proud of the fact he was a student of His Holiness Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche, which he told me when we met. He did full meditations on Vajra Yogini and short puja to Dorje Shugden daily in his small room in Kathmandu, Nepal where I had to honor to join in his prayers. He told me he was very happy to have his room to do his meditations, pujas and prayers openly. Whatever happened to him, he accepted as part of his karma and he spent much time in prison meditating and quietly teaching dharma to his other cellmates. He was very much respected in prison in Lhasa because he never showed anger, always meditated and consoled others, giving them great strength. He endured much hardship, torture and beatings but he never lost his monk vows. His full understanding of karma helped him not feel any anger or bitterness towards the soldiers. He told me that daily, he would meditate that the karma of others in prison would come to him. That all the torture and abuse he received was so others in prison did not have to suffer this. He said suffering for others was what kept him going and made him be able to endure the pain.

We are not bound by our experiences. We are bound by our choice. I also reminded those were present about the good person inside each and every one of us, and how we should not “bury” this good person with our excuses because the more excuses we give, the deeper this good person is buried and soon the layers of excuses will make it very difficult for us to find this good person. We are all beautiful good people and we should not let it get lost by lying, laziness, lack of integrity and procrastination. We all have a choice. If we have to make excuses, we should choose to make excuses to be a winner. When we win, we make ourselves happy and those around us happy.

The teaching session went well and it was spontaneous, and I requested the people who live and work in and around Kechara Forest Retreat for the talk. We had some good laughs to during the talk.

    Thank you,
    Tsem Rinpoche

‘If we trust in karma which exists, then there is no reason for anger’.
    ~ Tsawa Pulthok Rinpoche

I give you the truth…the evil forces effecting my state and center have gone too far. Dorje shugden practice is herein reinstated! Those who would tell us otherwise cannot be trusted. I will do whatever it takes just as I vowed my protector before to do exactly as he says. These forces are against us and would have us not practice and act like they are innocent it could not be further from the truth. Believe me. I will keep doing my practice at the risk of my life if only to fight these evil forces that are lurking in the shadows. Thank you rinpoche and all my friends. We are going to fight! Be strong. This is just the beginning. What we decide now will determine our future…so don’t give up I beg you! Keep practicing and we can overcome!

“If the Dalai Lama, if His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by Dorje Shugden, then we might as well not practice Buddhism anymore. If His Holiness the Dalai Lama can have his life shortened by a so-called evil spirit, any evil spirit, then can he be Avalokiteshvara? So on one hand you say, we say, I say, everybody says, he is Avalokiteshvara; on the other hand you’re saying that he can be harmed by an evil spirit… Which one is it? Can he be harmed by an evil spirit or is he Avalokiteshvara? Do you think Avalokiteshvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Tara all take refuge in something else to protect themselves from Dorje Shugden? How illogical is that? How illogical of people to say His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by an evil spirit, any evil spirit or “Dorje Shugden” evil spirit. How is that possible?” – Tsem Tulku Rinpoche

Listening to the chanting of sacred words, melodies, mantras, sutras and prayers has a very powerful healing effect on our outer and inner environments. It clears the chakras, spiritual toxins, the paths where our ‘chi’ travels within our bodies for health as well as for clearing the mind. It is soothing and relaxing but at the same time invigorates us with positive energy. The sacred sounds invite positive beings to inhabit our environment, expels negative beings and brings the sound of growth to the land, animals, water and plants. Sacred chants bless all living beings on our land as well as inanimate objects. Do download and play while in traffic to relax, when you are about to sleep, during meditation, during stress or just anytime. Great to play for animals and children. Share with friends the blessing of a full Dorje Shugden puja performed at Kechara Forest Retreat by our puja department for the benefit of others. Tsem Rinpoche

I have been open to seeing the other side of the shugden controversy and for that reason once again am staying out of it and I do feel bad but I won’t be practicing shugden anymore thank you sorry.

    • dan simons on Jul 11, 2018 at 1:50 am

hmmm interestingly enough maybe i am wrong once again because as i see it from the view of my mirror there is nothing wrong with the shugden issue even though i decide that there is and i am not going to follow it. for that reason i sense that perhaps maybe there is somewhat of a coverup going on like when someone says oh he doesn’t practice it but really he is. just so that people will not be aware. so for that reason maybe it is better to just stick to it anyway as long as it does not seem to be harmful in the eyes of the community. I feel it is almost more harmful to try to be against shugden then it is to just go along with it. My reasoning is this…if dorje shugden is so harmful why is it that when i say im not going to practice it that i see that still the practice is good and helpful to the people around me and my peer center despite the fact i am going against it because of whatever reason. This makes me believe that Dorje Shugden practice cannot be as bad as it is made out to be. I dont want to lie to you and say that Dorje Shugden practice is bad when from my own experience it is obviously not. So why keep going back and forth with it and saying that it is something bad? I see this is no longer helping anyone. But can I be for it? Having made my commitment to Shugden already I have decided not to practice it but whether this is right or wrong decision i see that it may not be right. Also Rinpoche has given me permission to not practice anymore as well…I have been released from my commitment and as far as Shugden is concerned I have decided to not go along with him anymore. And he did give me a choice. So as sad as it sounds maybe this is where I am headed but I still see that the practice is not bad even though I am looking at it that way and that is disconcerting to me to say the least. Then I have to question whether my commitment to all sentient beings is really valid? It is getting to the point where the obstacles I am facing I either am going to have to practice him or not. He is either part of the problem or not. But can there be room for saying also he is part of the solution. I think so so please don’t write me or Shugden off just right yet. We might be going a hundred miles in the opposite direction but I see how this could transpire at least how it has for the Dalai Lama. And it is an easy reason for me to do likewise. Am I willing to give up my commitment to Shugden though to honor the Dalai Lama. No. So I guess at the end of the day I am still pro Shugden even though every ounce of my being and my mind says otherwise. That is the power of the protector and that even in the middle of total chaos his power still does not dissipate.

      • Dan Earl Simons on Jul 11, 2018 at 3:40 pm

Well I now realize how serious this issue is and its the two bad choices trick so both answers are wrong. The only possible solution therefore is to plant the seeds by how we treat others. Dalai lama at his birthday said to start with love for yourself. Then expand it to others. Thnx

        • Dan Earl Simons on Jul 17, 2018 at 5:36 am

You have to be smart to see through the dorje shugden discrimination and I see it still in even the center I go to and my only honest response is to be silent but to keep on practicing dorje shugden. That’s what I would recommend. But definitely do your dorje shugden practice no matter what. It is a worthwhile fight. Maybe the most important one of this life. Thank you.

          • Dan Earl Simons on Jul 18, 2018 at 8:17 pm

I’m not practicing dorje shugden anymore…Thnx and have a nice day! Thank you tsem tulku for letting me off the hook volunteers of America for helping me realize bodhichitta and myself for committing and vowing not to practice anymore which took a lot of courage and strength after years of practice not knowing really what I was doing. Just glad not to be controlled by shugden anymore!

  34. Dan Simons on Jul 7, 2018 at 12:16 am

well i was going to say abide by the ban but no I am a rebel if I want to practice shugden I can..i don’t need anyone telling me otherwise.

    • Dan Earl Simons on Jul 7, 2018 at 9:15 pm

Still gonna try to stay out of the argument and put it behind me…no shugden practice.

      • Dan Simons on Jul 8, 2018 at 12:52 am

well the holy spirit has spoken to me through god and shugden he is telling me to keep practicing so I am. I still keep my promise see? I just keep following Shugden!

        • Dan Earl Simons on Jul 8, 2018 at 10:28 pm

If tsem rinpoche says I don’t have to do it even though I want to which I don’t need to anymore I might just still give it up….and just follow four Starbucks steps. Then i would like to say I do want a solution and this is mine. I’m just going to do four Starbucks steps. I’m not going to take sides cuz technically both are wrong. All I can do is plant the seeds.

          • Dan Earl Simons on Jul 9, 2018 at 12:57 am

Okay if I can’t do shugden then no 4 Starbucks steps either. Most people wouldn’t be willing to give up coffee…but obviously shugden means a lot to me and I gave him my word so if not either nothing.

          • Dan Earl Simons on Jul 9, 2018 at 3:23 am

The state wants me to renounce my dorje shugden practice and say it is just a drinking problem…if you read my posts in dorje shugden people you should know why….they have been persecuting me for it saying it is a drinking problem but really they are against dorje shugden too. I will not sell out the same way I did tsem tulkus first guru. We are not gonna quit. Let them witness the true power of dorje shugden!

  35. Joy Kam on Jun 28, 2018 at 3:13 am

How can a nun curse someone they do not even know and wish the person to die quickly and be born in hell? What kind of nun is this? Shocking! What more she’s cursing a Buddhist teacher and a monk?! Is this the face of Bhutanese Buddhist?

This is so shameful for her as a nun, her teacher, her monastery, her country and her King. A sangha should not behave in such a manner. A Sangha should carry enlightened Buddha’s teachings of compassion and wisdom to benefit all sentient beings.

A Sangha is not supposed to promote hatred and certainly should not be cursing or wishing another person to die. That wish itself is already breaking one of the vows.
A Sangha is one of the 3 Jewels, an object of refuge. They should not behave like an uncivilized person with so much hate. This is how bad the Tibetan Leadership has spread their lies and hate about Dorje Shugden and Shugden Buddhist practitioners.

  36. Dan Earl Simons on Jun 25, 2018 at 6:34 am

Okay I have kept my manjushriye poster up. And after much consideration and with an open mind I say officially you should not discriminate against dorje shugden or therefore anyone who practices or has faith in him. That is where I stand. And that includes me. So stop it! Please. And thank you.

    • Dan Earl Simons on Jun 25, 2018 at 10:50 pm

Nm I’m not doing dorje shugden. Thnx

      • Dan Earl Simons on Jun 26, 2018 at 10:57 pm

Okay Nm i am practicing shugden…this time for real. No messing around.

        • Dan Earl Simons on Jun 26, 2018 at 11:45 pm

Okay here’s a new one…not to practice or not to not practice. Neither. Plant the seeds…by being nice to others. That’s what I’m gonna try first. Thnx

          • Dan Earl Simons on Jun 30, 2018 at 11:04 pm

No I’m going to practice dorje shugden I don’t care what anyone thinks!

          • Dan Earl Simons on Jul 1, 2018 at 6:59 am

Okay y’all I am quitting buddhism all together since I can’t practice dorje shugden.

I will practice 4 Starbucks steps
            1. Decide what you want
            2. Find someone that wants the same thing
            3. Go to Starbucks
            4. Be happy

            Have a nice day

          • Dan Earl Simons on Jul 4, 2018 at 1:06 pm

Sorry everyone I would be practicing shugden if I wasn’t so out of it from the drugs still I can’t even think straight cuz I had a beer doing what i though was what shugden said…maybe it was a good thing I got locked up and sent to the hospital and put back on meds and into a group home on forced medication in the community. Ended up gaining 250 pounds from the meds. Then finally going to court and proving i wasn’t crazy it was just the meds. Now they know I’m enlightened and rinpoche has let me off the hook on shugden practice even though I promised shugden to do whatever he says. I decided to stop the practice but I think about it constantly and go back to it. My bond with shugden is very strong and i don’t think anything can truly separate us. When i think of what is best for me I know it is dorje shugden.

          • Dan Earl Simons on Jul 6, 2018 at 6:34 am

Well I’ve decided its best to stay out of the argument All together so I am not gonna practice it anymore. Thnx, Dan

  37. Dan Earl Simons on Jun 16, 2018 at 9:35 am

Praise to dorje shugden. I have demonstrated faithfully following ds then going along with the ban and seeing it was stupid and coming back again to dorje shugden…I am very serious. No backing down. But I had to prove that the ban really was useless and that dorje shugden is the only and best practice all around. I wanted you to see that my actions were being guided by my devotion to dorje shugden and nothing else. Now there is no doubt in my mind dorje shugden is the best. And I will follow him all my life. But that was my motivation. Sorry if you thought or felt insulted my heart is still with dorje shugden for always and anyone who wants to follow me follow dorje shugden. That is a command. But you must be sure. And if you see what I’ve written and what I just explained makes sense to you good job. My motivation was strictly to save my dorje shugden practice. And if I could share it with others. Once again sorry for the confusion but I had to be sure. Dorje shugden is my main practice and will remain so. For as long as i live. I sorry dorje shugden they ban you but you and me will do great anyway and get more people to see you are our protector for all our lives. Never forget!

    • Dan Earl Simons on Jun 16, 2018 at 11:36 am

However because I can’t do even basic things as long as ds is advised against I will be the low one and accept the Dalai lamas decision and not practice just so I will not be prohibited from doing things like everybody else. Sorry.

      • Dan Earl Simons on Jun 19, 2018 at 10:01 am

Ok I may see what you are talking about. Dalai lama is being a jerk and it is not fair. Thats why I quit all buddhism and just worship dorje shugden pretty much dont even use my refuge name…I also still have some Thai amulets. I was afraid that I would very kicked out for dorje shugden and I felt like if that’s gonna happen then maybe it makes sense but how can I go back on my word? It comes from enlightened basis so can’t be wrong. I just have to not siding with you guys but getting you guys to side with me. If you are so deceived as to believe Dalai lama over me then I’m sorry for you and you deserve what you get. That’s not a threat its karma. Maybe there’s a reason dorje shugden is against you and you probably deserve it. So you can figure out for yourself where I stand. But I don’t support you. Love to all d’s people we will overcome! Shout out tsem tulku long live! May we meet in kechara paradise….

    • Dan Earl Simons on Jun 20, 2018 at 12:49 pm

Sorry guys I am officially putting in my vote as serious as for President if it wasn’t trump I’m not going to be practicing dorje shugden anymore. And that’s the end. I don’t care about the debate all I can do is decide what is right for me and that is the decision I have made. So goodbye

  38. Dan Earl Simons on Jun 5, 2018 at 5:31 am

Okay now i know why to follow dorje shugden regardless…I ran into this guy that cooked me food and I got sick so I prayed to dorje shugden cuz I did not trust him. This was just when I changed my mind and then today I just found out he got fired. So he tried giving me more crap and this time I spit it out and I’m going to pray to dorje shugden again! Now I see how powerful his practice really is and that’s proof. So even I can be wrong but I will admit it! There is no reason not to practice dorje shugden. End of story.

    • Dan Earl Simons on Jun 6, 2018 at 3:30 pm

No….I made the decision not to practice and that is end of story. No more dorje shugden…thnx

      • Dan Earl Simons on Jun 12, 2018 at 8:48 pm

Ok I give you all credit…good students! I am trying to teach you something…I made decision not to practice shugden then went and practiced anyway but then took it back. This was to reveal something. Did you see? There is no ban against shugden. You are still free to practice no matter. It is up to you and if you want to bad enough you will find a way. Even though I decided not to follow him I still could. But do I want to? I was hoping that you all would truly be devoted to him and through some type of miracle maybe we could see a breakthrough but you are so busy being mad at me that you do not have time for your dorje shugden practice. Otherwise I would agree that you should be able to practice. Then I would salute and say dorje shugden is for me. You lead by example. I think it is better for me not to take sides. I will let the two sides fight and the winner will be me.

        • Dan Earl Simons on Jun 14, 2018 at 6:43 am

Sorry just wanted to see the bad side…I was being stupid. Dorje shugden is alright. Even if in my mind I think I am doing the right thing by not practicing dorje shugden I am not. Herein dorje shugden is ok. Practice time. Thank you for bearing with me to see this no turning back we going all the way son! Dorje shugden 4Eva! Love y’all.

          • Dan Earl Simons on Jun 15, 2018 at 10:10 pm

Ok I’m not practicing Nm sorry. Have a nice day ok no seriously I’m done thank you. Sorry for the confusion.

  39. Dan Earl Simons on May 29, 2018 at 10:26 am

Hey guys don’t mind me I’m feeling like me and shugden are sometimes battling but at the end of the night I feel comfortable with him…pure energy. Lets put our differences aside on this memorial day and thank strap for his tireless work for all sentient beings. Here is a pic of manjushhri in my room…who is actually dorje shugden. I blessed the place with dorje shugden too. I feel like I can practice it no matter what anybody say cuz it brings me peace. Thank you. And keep practicing!

    • Dan Earl Simons on May 30, 2018 at 2:17 pm

Still not doing it. Greatest decision I ever made. Granted clearly my decision not to practice was not 100% pure either…nonetheless its still my decision. So I have to honor it. It was fun but I have to move on. Bye.

  40. Dan Earl Simons on May 27, 2018 at 2:58 pm

Well sorry guys like I said I decided not to follow ds anymore but this decision did not come out of totally pure motivation since in truth my reasons for following shugden were not pure but for this reason also I was not able to break my commitment either just by deciding against it as weird as it sounds. I realized that was impossible. Then I started running into trouble and who do I turn to as usual my protector and at all costs. Then I read some of the post by my friend below where he says you would have had a powerful protector and your on your own. I am now not only going against what Dalai lama says I am actually trusting dorje shugden over my own decision not to follow him which I would consider the very least to be guru devotion. If I hadn’t said not to follow him then I think there would have been a problem. To deal with this karma though and what I am facing I am going against my own decision…and the Dalai lama. But I will do so as I see appropriate only from the aspect of extreme circumstances and do not recommend it nonetheless unless you might have some faith in me and this peerless protector as well. Like I said I am saying against my own better judgement I am staying with dorje shugden despite the judgement…even of myself. That is because this protector practice is so profound it is through skillful means alone that this is possible…I thank you for your support my friend. I hope soon that the drug effects wear off and I can clearly worship freely in all capacity again and not be punished or locked up or drugged up. I like this decision to when Joan of arc to save her life said she didn’t believe the voices in her head were god but the devil. And she would be saved from death. She said instead that she believed it was god and not the devil actually in total faith even against her own better judgement and that of the inquisitors and was burned at the stake for it. May I follow in her holy example and swear by my vow to dorje shugden to follow exactly what he says. Thank you and may peace be with you.

    • Dan Earl Simons on May 28, 2018 at 4:33 am

Well I tried shugden again but maybe its not for me. I am just going to focus on my mental health and trying to get off this medication and loose the 250 pounds I put on because of it. It should be another 6 months before its totally out of my system but seriously maybe my days of shugden practice are over. I couldn’t stop practicing even though I tried. I had made up my mind but shugden was still a priority. It didn’t matter because I couldn’t trust myself…but maybe it is better I quit and just say farewell I’ve got to move on to bigger and better things. That I think is all I can do at this point. I have seriously tried to see both sides but I can’t keep going back and forth. This is where I draw the line. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. I just know not to go any further. Its a little thing called self preservation. If you haven’t heard about it look it up! Cuz this is ridiculous. Haven’t you seen that by now? The whole thing. Dalai lama…and dorje shugden. Isn’t the dharma purpose to help people? What about when it destroys their lives? Then that’s not the dharma…forget about it. I may not know what to do but i know what not to do. I mean I think you know that since I know its better not to practice dorje shugden that your trying to make me look stupid by going back and forth with it then if that’s the case its better you not practice shugden. So ha! Your putting yourself in this position I can’t believe you don’t just do what your told and not practice shugden. But its not my position to judge. I am just holding up a mirror if you can’t see that’s your problem. Not me. I don’t have to keep a protector anymore according to what tsem rinpoche has said anyway. Do you realize shugden versus Dalai lama is bad karma whichever way you look at it…what caused this bad karma? You did. How do you fix it? Do what Dalai lama says or practice shugden? Two bad choices trick. Neither because neither works all the time. You have to find the karma and then fix it. Then you will be able to practice shugden again and Dalai lama will say you are a good disciple for it. This obviously is not the case. So find the cause and create the remedial action and you can purify the negative karma and it will go away. Complaining about it will not help. You created it. Only you can fix it. Until then…I will keep reminding you as long as I can but that karma will run out too So you must think about it. What did I do so I have sworn allegiance to one being but another disagrees. And says not to. Being dishonest to myself. I accepted help from him in the wrong way. I have tried to remedy it by fixing my seeds. Yet it still remains unfavorable to practice. Its not a question of practice. If I went to protector with wrong intent which I did then I have to fix those seeds. I hope that helps…

      • Dan Earl Simons on May 28, 2018 at 4:49 am

Telling you to practice shugden when another high or holy lama says not is not planting a good seed. And therefore neither would it be for me to practice ds be a good seed. But then again cuz rinpoche says to practice the opposite holds true as well. So what do you do? You have to plant the seeds. Take care of both sides do not discriminate.

        • Dan Earl Simons on May 28, 2018 at 8:20 am

I will plant seeds for those who don’t do ds as well as for those that do. I see no contradiction. Both sides are right. But how can that be? The only thing I know is I made a vow to ds to do whatever he said. So I can’t just say I’m not gonna practice him unless he says. That’s why even though I decided not to anymore it did not matter. I had already made a commitment to him and I have to be held accountable. Even if that means I suffer than so be it. I’m not gonna split hairs as to which is worse suffering in hell…disobeying Dalai lama or spirit worship doesn’t matter. I got myself into this and that’s my karma. I have to own up to it. Sorry for that. Its just a lot they’ve put me through to always get me to give up my practice…it started at first with Khen rinpoche….tsem Tully’s first teacher. Anyway I’m not making excuses yes I’d like it to be over with and I don’t like the attention and I wish everyone could get along. I’m not going to let society push me around and say I can’t worship shugden. I mean I have to do what he tells me to. So anyway that pretty much is it. In the matrix the oracle says the only way to know you are doing the right thing is to do the wrong thing twice. Well now I know shugden is the right answer. They are just trying to use me to make it look like it is better not to practice him but it is not right. Even though I decided not to…but don’t believe them or me even. We must rely on shugden alone the time has come. Come on people! Lets do this. Yes. Thank you very much.

          • Dan Earl Simons on May 28, 2018 at 10:47 pm

No shugden…Maybe there is a reason Dalai lama says this that we don’t understand. We just have to have faith. I decided not to practice but then fell back thinking I would never be able to quit even if I wanted to. But now I feel l am only doing so out of desperation and that is not right either. I still must stand by my decision not to practice because that is my decision but at the same time know that that may not be the end of it. I still did enter into a contract with him but he gave me an out if I really decided I wanted out. I believe he will honor my decision. As that’s what I’ve chosen it is what it is. I feel bad backing out on shugden but that does not make me any lesser of a person. I’m not going to decide not to follow him then decide to start following him again. I’ve already made up my mind…now it is just a matter of saying it ends here. It takes a strong person to do this but i think I can. I look at it as helping myself not as making myself weaker. Thank you all for those who support me and accept my decision not to practice shugden anymore. It is a big decision as it has been my main practice unknowingly for many years. Now that I know what it really is I have to say it is time to end. Thank you

  41. Wai Meng Wan on May 11, 2018 at 1:19 pm

Kaybjye Ling DorjeChang is Yamantaka, a deity in Dharmakaya form, there is no way an accomplished master of Yamantaka will fear and not know the nature of Dorje Shugden that has manifested in a Sambhogakaya form. One of my colleagues Kenneth reminded me that Dorje Shugden resides deva realms in Sambhogakaya form actually.

Ling DorjeChang taught the Dalai Lama many practices and teachings, hence if Ling Dorjechang was wrong, then he may have jolly well initiated and taught the Dalai Lama much teachings that Dalai Lama is bringing the dharma to others now.

  42. Dan Earl Simons on Apr 29, 2018 at 10:07 am

I think some good has come from the debate on shugden but it is not going anywhere. I decided to not use my refuge name anymore and I am stopping all things straight up that go against the dharma from a purist standpoint including shugden. If you have doubts about this then I may say you are not practicing purely enough. And it is a fault in your practice and could be shugden. So for now I am cleaning up my act and walking straight and narrow. I am glad to be able to see this and find no problem being in compliance with Dalai lama wishe’s from now on. I cannot change the fact I did not know what I was getting into when being introduced to the protector and swearing to obey him but the lama is higher and I will just go by what Dalai lama says but this decision is 100% my own with no coercion. No more dorje shugden soliciting please and thank you.

    • A Friend on Apr 29, 2018 at 11:05 am

      Dear Dan Earl Simons,

Of course it is your choice. But contemplate this:

      1. The debate on Shugden should have never happened as it is a legitimate practice originated within Sakya and passed to Gelugs. It has been practiced by millions in the last four hundred years. And the debate only came up because the Tibetan exiled govt failed miserably to secure Tibet back for the last 50 years of exile and they needed to pin it on a scapegoat and say by praying to Shugden, it created the obstacles to not getting Tibet back. As ludicrous as it sounds, this is the real reason the Shugden issue was brought up. I lived in Dharamsala for a long time and saw all the politics and left. I heard from the ‘top’ lamas and govt officials this was the real reason.

      2. You may not have known what you were getting into when you entered into the Shugden practtice and that is your own fault. You should have investigated and checked carefully as you should with any spiritual practice BEFORE committing. You made a bond with your lama that gave you Shugden to accept Shugden and you broke that bond. Maybe your Shugden lama is not as famous as Dalai Lama but he is on equal with Dalai Lama within meditations. It is said in tantra by Vajradhara, any gurus that give us dharma is equal to each other and should be seen as a Buddha regardless of rank or their position in life or within Tibet’s religious hierarchy. Therefore you broke your samaya with your teacher who gave you Shugden. Samaya is samaya and it should remain pure. Shugden is not important but your samaya with your lama is important and you broke that. Too bad. Om Mani Peme Hung.

      3. It is not loss to Shugden or his millions of practitioners that you gave up Shugden due to your ignorance. Simply listening to the Dalai Lama or any lama without deeply investigating yourself shows your habit of not checking things thoroughly. You didn’t check when you received Shugden and you are not checking thoroughly now when you so grandiosely give up. I respect the Dalai Lama but not everything he says or does is perfect due to karmic obscurations from all concerned. We have to check our teachers before accepting anything.

      4. Whether you practice purely or not has NOTHING to do with Dorje Shugden and everything to do with your own mind. With Shugden you would have had a powerful ally to help you throughout life and boy we all know we need help in life and in today’s world. Without Shugden, you are on your own kid! But for sure being Manjushri, Dorje Shugden will not harm you or anyone at all-The greatest of the greats of lamas within Sakya and Gelug have said this for four hundred years. Remember, you broke your vow/samaya with lama and it has nothing to do with Shugden and for years Shugden helped you and assisted you. Too bad. You prayed to Shugden and he definitely help you because he is a bodhisattva.

      5. I am a Shugden practitioner in America and I will remain so for the rest of my life. Shugden has never harmed me, my family, friends, spiritual community or associations in any way shape or form. Dalai Lama told Trijang Rinpoche (the current one) privately to continue Shugden and he advises people the same thing.

His Holiness Kyabje Trjiang Rinpoche the former incarnation (root guru of Dalai Lama) gave this Shugden practice/initiations to thousands. His Holiness Kyabje Ling Rinpoche practiced Shugden lightly himself also and composed texts to Shugden encouraging others to practice and that is why he composed texts to Shugden. Kyabje Ling Rinpoche is Dalai Lama’s other guru. Dalai Lama had two main gurus for 30 years that taught him since young till Dalai Lama became a Geshe and even into exile. These two masters Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche and Ling Rinpoche were those two great masters of the Dalai Lama and tens of thousands of monks and people and they both respected and practiced Dorje Shugden till the end.

I think I will follow the Dalai Lama’s root gurus’ (Trijang and Ling Rinpoche’s advice) to keep practicing Dorje Shugden because they said he is no other than Manjushri. Good luck to you and no offense.

Well I feel like even though I have even made vow not to practice shugden it is not powerful enough to outweigh my devotion to dorje shugden…and the vow I made to him to do what he told me to. In that case I will not vow to practice dorje shugden or not practice dorje shugden. I am just going to be done with the issue.

  43. Lama Shenphen on Apr 21, 2018 at 4:08 am

Alright I am starting buddhism again and with dorje shugden too this time so can’t no body say nothin. We need him!

    • Lama Shenphen on Apr 21, 2018 at 7:04 pm

Well after seeing both sides it looks like there is no reason for me to continue to do this dorje shugden practice for you as it has become a controversy and you are only doing it based on hype and it being a controversy and nothing else. I will be removing myself from the dorje shugden controversy and regret having wasted time on something like this that is obviously motivated towards generating energy in the opposite direction of where I would like the genuine practice to be headed for the sake of true practioners everywhere. God bless the Dalai lama.

Never mind I just had a dream where tsem rinpoche came to me and in my own words verified that what I was saying about dorje shugden practice is good isgood and I realize I know this but I am still learning so sometones I faulter in my practice towards not practicing but I am willing to adhere to ultimate truth and today dorje shugden has won. I am not going to argue with what I saw as it matches my own words from dorje shugden straight to what rinpoche has said in my dream so now I have confirmation dorje shugden is the real thing. It may be easier to overlook this but I want everyone to know the truth and then we will only have what it is we want so thank you rinpoche dorje shugden continues! Now with personal recognition that what I am being instructed and saying is the same thing tsem rinpoche is teaching which comes from dorje shugden now there is no misunderstanding. Thank you.

I guess I am going to give shugden up. I did a retreat live on the web and things have changed. I am at a higher level now…and have met the requirements. It was nice knowing you.

          • Lama Shenphen on Apr 25, 2018 at 3:06 am

Love someone and let them go and if they come back to you it was meant to be. I found someone who supports shugden and I will allow it. So yes I’m gonna keep practicing then.

          • Lama Shenphen on Apr 25, 2018 at 6:20 am

Actually though I think the answer is not to practice or not practice…it is neither. So I’m not gonna practice it nor am I gonna not practice it. Final answer. I just want to live a normal life now I deserve that. Thank you.

          • Lama Shenphen on Apr 25, 2018 at 12:39 pm

Well apparently I can’t have a normal life so yeah to keep practicing dorje shugden practice…again

A true democracy allows everyone the freedom to exercise their human rights, including the freedom to practise any religion they want. In democratic countries, the government does not interfere with this right. Neither are democratic governments prejudiced against their citizens’ choice of religious belief. They do not force people to stop their religious practice or pass legislation criminalising people because of their religion.

The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), the Tibetan leadership who are based in Dharamsala are the exception. They are the only so-called ‘democratic’ leadership that puts a stranglehold on its people, persecuting them for their religious beliefs. They deny the rights of Dorje Shugden practitioners for simply practicing their religion as they have done for the past 400 years. Dorje Shugden practitioners are ostracised from their own community, denied medical care, education or even employment in government offices. The CTA definitely does not live up to the right to be called a democratic administration, especially when in it inflicts suppression of people’s freedom and disrespects basic human rights.

I’m quitting buddhism I apparently can’t make anyone happy with my wish to practice shugden so instead of go against my promise to him I will no longer officially be a buddhist. I dedicate this act to all who would follow in dorje shugden footsteps. You cannot single out shugden and base it on buddhism that you should not practice him if I no longer am a buddhist. Can you? Then…I don’t have to be buddhist to practice dorje shugden. I will rely on him 100%. Now it doesn’t matter what I worship could be the devil. I like to call myself Buddha Maitreya though. Anything other than late for dinner.

Last Saturday, at an event marking 60 years of Tibetans being recipients of Indian kindness, Lobsang Sangay mentioned that the exiled Tibetans should strengthen their efforts to make the Dalai Lama’s return to his Potala Palace a reality.

Representing the Indian government, Ram Madhav, a leader in the governing Bharatiya Janata party, echoed Sangay’s statement with hope that the Dalai Lama will be able to “return to your homeland” through peaceful and democratic means.

This event was originally planned to be held in Delhi but it was cancelled and relocated to Dharamsala. At the same time, Indian officials were directed by their Foreign Secretary to avoid events hosted by the Tibetan leadership, since they coincided with a “sensitive time” for Delhi’s relations with Beijing. India’s volte-face approach in shunning the Tibetans, with the unprecedented cancellation of many key Tibetan events, is now being viewed as a clear sign that India is no longer willing to be collateral damage in the Tibetan quest to agitate China over the so-called Tibetan cause.

With mounting pressure from India to not hurt their relations with China, the tone of the message this time around seems to be that of a plea with only one goal in mind: for the Dalai Lama to return to Tibet and reunite with Tibetans inside Tibet. Could it be that after 60 years, the Tibetan leadership has finally realised their fight against China is a futile one, and they should start looking at more achievable goals? May the aspirations of millions of Tibetans to see the Dalai Lama’s return to Tibet be fulfilled and in the words of Madhav, that ” it will not take that long for you (Tibetans) to be back home.”

Our world with many living beings who have received the blessing from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama mainly because of the guidance, advice and training given by both His Holiness Ling Rinpoche and His Holiness Trijang Rinpoche as tutors to the 14th Dalai Lama for 40 years. Since the young 14th Dalai Lama will lead Tibet in future, the selection of main tutors for the Dalai Lama is crucial and important because Tibetan nation cannot afford to allow for any ambiguity in guiding and advising the young 14th Dalai Lama during that time. Hence, since both His Holiness Ling Rinpoche and His Holiness Trijang Rinpoche were selected among all the high lamas as main tutors to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, all the teachings given by these highly erudite masters will never have flaws or else, the entire Tibetan Buddhism system will fail and never grow in many places such as Europe, USA, Taiwan, Mongolia, Nepal and Malaysia. When Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden practice was chosen and incorporated by His Holiness Ling Rinpoche and His Holiness Trijang Rinpoche during their time, whoever practise Dorje Shugden as their Dharma Protector for now, can be 100% assured that Dorje Shugden is not an evil or cult practice as being claimed by Central Tibetan Administration (CTA). Previous Dorje Shugden’s incarnation lineage comes from a long history stems back to His first incarnation, which is Manjushri, Buddha of Wisdom. We can study the background and the origins of Dorje Shugden, who is the Dharma Protector of our time from the link as shown below.

Its such an incredible and blessing just by listening to the recordings of these two great master HH Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and HH Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche chanting the puja to Dorje Shugden . Both Great master were the tutors of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The holy voices of HH Kyabje Ling Rinpoche who was the lead chanter and HH Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche were powerful indeed. Both of them practiced and relied on Dorje Shugden and also the root teachers of the Dalai Lama. They were also the gurus and teachers to hundreds thousands of monks and students throughout Tibet, India, Mongolia, Russia and so forth. We are fortunate to receive and listened though. The recording of Ling Rinpoche performing a Dorje Shugden kangsol, was a clear evidence that HH Kyabje Ling Rinpoche has practiced it. Sadly many has denied that HH Kyabje Ling Rinpoche ever had anything and connection to Dorje Shugden. Infact HH Kyabje Ling Rinpoche has composed a combined prayer offering to propitiate the blessings of this enlightened Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden, which showed that he respects Dorje Shugden tremendously. Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor Khong Jean Ai for this blessed recordings and wonderful article to counter false claims.

I’m not going to give up my guru disciple relationship with Dalai lama for shugden. If one thing in life is greatest it is being able to see him teach and be blessed by him. If that’s all I had in life from a spiritual point of view I wouldn’t need anything else. I don’t want to disparage his advice for that reason.

    • Lama Shenpen on Mar 29, 2018 at 12:59 am

I suffered greatly and was made to believe shugden was bad but I never gave up and kept my commitment to him. This has paid off so I got manjushhri thankha and luk kok amulet for new apartment to practice dorje shugden and for a week was doing good but then they took me to food pantry and got food poisoning. Will not describe how this felt but I had to go to doctors and then to hospital and it has been a couple days and still in bed. Confessed I had said I was not going to practice shugden. Took the thankha down too. Now I see though how serious the situation is and what is at stake how am I suppose to not practice him anymore? Maybe saying bad things happen from practicing is exact opposite. Actually bad things happen when you don’t! Then why shouldn’t I say everyone has to practice him? Because it is not right. Then how can you justify saying not to!? You should let us do dorje shugden then there will not be this confusion. Just say it is up to you I cannot tell you what to do instead of saying you can do what you want but I’m gonna tell you what to do. That is not right either. Should be allowed to do whatever we want to I mean its a buddhist practice. Its not like worshipping the devil. But that’s what it is made out to be. Its like a witch hunt. Think about it. If you believe in that then you are worse off then the devil worshippers and the dorje shugden followers are angels practically! We will keep speaking up you should not treat us any different for practicing our belief even if it is not advisable by the Dalai lama. And if you do then that is discrimination and you should be held accountable for such action…not for practicing dorje shugden cuz its head of Tibetans that’s says so. We are just practicing what we want to. And that’s called freedom. Do we have to have a battle between pro shugden versus anti shugden people? Come on now seriously? That’s just people with opinions talking. What I’m saying is dorje shugden goes beyond that and people in that conflict probably dont have the slightest clue who dorje shugden really is even. Nevertheless it brings light to the fact that we should be able to practice dorje shugden if that is our choice without consequence. Until that is possible this conflict is always going to be there until we are all free. Which dorje shugden is trying to do for you. No more punishment for dorje shugden practioners. Lets be free to practice anything that is our right and what helps us so don’t let anyone tell you otherwise thnx

    • Lama Shenpen on Mar 30, 2018 at 10:49 pm

Well I’m not gonna do dorje shugden practice but I will keep my manjushriye thankha but I am not going to say they are the same. I’m not even going to visualize the wrathful form or recite mantras. Or for students. So yes now I am officially saying if you want to follow my teachings I expect you to not practice shugden either. If you do don’t bother find someone else cuz I am taking a stand. Thank you.

      • Lama Shenphen on Apr 13, 2018 at 8:29 am

Ok y’all…if you love someone let them go and if they come back it was meant to be. I went along with what Dalai lama is saying about dorje shugden and made it so anyone who follows me must do the same but then I’m like woo dorje shugden is still showing up so he showed me a sign that even the Dalai lama bans him it is not enough to not practice him. He still wants you to be faithful. So I am going to allow it. I am more of a spiritual friend who wants what’s best for you and if banning him does not make sense I will not. I want what’s best for you and therefore I see no harm in what you are doing and I will continue myself.

  51. Lama Shenpen on Mar 26, 2018 at 12:19 pm

Okay I become a good dorje shugden follower too…I bought manjushhri thankha and hung that up and next I buy actual dorje shugden thankha for my shrine room. Right now just have to visualize…

    • Lama Shenpen on Mar 30, 2018 at 10:16 pm

Well I found nice shugden Thanks online but I was told by management that if I get something shipped here it gets left in the vestibule and people just walk in off the street and take it. I was lucky enough to have my meditation mat and cushion delivered because someone brought it in for me. So all I can really get in the mail at this point are small items that would fit in the mail slot otherwise risk them getting stole. So I might just keep the manjushriye thanks up. I thought it was gonna be an original but it was a reproduction but that’s okay it still looks good I just have to visualize wrathful form but can still do mantras it is not made for meditation object anyway just decoration but I’m pretty sure the dorje shugden would be too. This way I am not technically practicing dorje shugden because it is a manjushriye image and I just visualize his wrathful form. So really the image is just there for eye candy but it gives a connection to dorje shugden too. I wish I could get the ds thankha too but I don’t want it getting stolen.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama likes to repeat that H.H. Kyabje Ling Rinpoche does not practice Dorje Shugden and you can see him here saying so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLbTErHpxjk

But looks like the Dalai Lama is not speaking accurately again. Kyabje Ling Rinpoche (14th Dalai Lama’s tutor) did practice Dorje Shugden and compose prayers to Dorje Shugden as it shows clearly in this article. He definitely revered Dorje Shugden.

Here is a clear audio of Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche chanting puja to Dorje Shugden included in this incredible blog post. What a powerful and blessed audio. I downloaded it and play in my car on the way to work daily.

The truth is coming out more and more that Dorje Shugden’s practice was pervasive and practiced by the very high lamas of Tibet. Dorje Shugden was practiced by both Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche who were the root teachers of the Dalai Lama.

Thank you Pastor Jean Ai for the clear and concise explanation about HH Ling Rinpoche’ practice of Dorje Shugden. i am truly impressed with this part of the article, “The holy voices of Ling Rinpoche who acted as umze (lead chanter) and Trijang Rinpoche chanting the puja to Dorje Shugden on this recording is, to say the least, very powerful. Both these masters performed Dorje Shugden puja in Switzerland together. We are so fortunate to receive this recording. Ling Rinpoche and Trijang Rinpoche were also the gurus and teachers to hundreds of thousands of monks and students throughout Tibet, India, Mongolia, Russia and other lands”. it is uplifting to know that the tutors to the current Dalai Lama are Dorje Shugden practitioners. This is a powerful picture of Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen, Kensur Kyabje Lati Rinpoche and the current incarnation of Trijang Rinpoche meeting together in the year 2000 when Trijang Rinpoche was 18. All three lamas are Dorje Shugden practitioners. In fact Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen was the one that first encouraged my practice of Dorje Shugden when I was 16 years old when I joined his beautiful Thubten Dhargye Ling centre in Los Angeles. I lived with Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen for 8 years before proceeding to Gaden Monastery in South India. Later Kyabje Zong Rinpoche came to our Los Angeles centre and granted sogtae (permission ceremony) to practice Dorje Shugden for life as requested by Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen. Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen had tremendous faith in Trijang Rinpoche. Kyabje Lati Rinpoche was innovative, dedicated and very much focused on bringing dharma to many. He had tremendous faith in Dorje Shugden as I had the honour to meet him many times. He would seek advice from Dorje Shugden many times via the oracle of Gaden Monastery. Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen and Kensur Kyabje Lati Rinpoche have since passed away while the current Trijang Rinpoche is a perfect lineage holder and practitioner of Dharma while he keeps Dorje Shugden as his personal protector as he has done so for many lifetimes. This is a powerful and beautiful picture of three great lamas of Buddha’s lineage and also of Gaden Monastery.

After demonizing Dorje Shugden for twenty years, the Tibetan leadership is fast losing its supporters to logic and better information. Trode Khangsar Chapel in Lhasa, Tibet

Over 400 years ago a great and learned lama Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen was famed in Mongolia, Tibet, Nepal and China for being very saintly and compassionate. He resided in his residence (Zimkhang Gongma Ladrang) in Drepung Monastery. His root guru was H.H. the Omniscient 4th Panchen Lama and his close dharma brother was the 5th Dalai Lama.

The 5th Dalai Lama and Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen had a very close and dharmic relationship and often went to receive teachings together from the 4th Panchen Lama. They were close in age. They both became very learned and well known. During this time, the Dalai Lama was enthroned as a Dharma King of Tibet. But more people went to see Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen for teachings, initiations and divinations. This made the attendants of the 5th Dalai Lama feel threatened that Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s fame might usurp the power of the 5th Dalai Lama. So they had a khata forced down his throat. At that moment, Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen dissolved his psychic winds and generated the wish to be a great guardian of Buddha and Tsongkapa’s teachings. As his consciousness dissolved, he entered ‘bardo’ as a dharma protector of the highest order (jikten depey sungma). Many signs were seen throughout Lhasa at this time and the earth was said to have shaken in Lhasa. This event was already predicted to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s previous incarnation when he was one of the 8 main disciples of Lord Tsongkapa the Supreme Master and he served Tsongkapa directly by building Gaden Monastery.

When the 5th Dalai Lama heard what his scheming and power-hungry attendants had done, he was very distressed. He was very sorry Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen was murdered and dishonored as he was a great dharma master. The 5th Dalai Lama composed an apology to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen. In Lhasa, tens of thousands gathered for the cremation of Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s holy body. During the cremation, the 5th Dalai Lama’s apology was read out at which flames spontaneously arose from the body of Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen commencing the cremation. From the body, during cremation, a powerful whirlwind of smoke tunneled into the sky for all to see as this was an indication Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s consciousness has arisen as the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. The Dharma Protector Setrap immediately recognized this new protector Dorje Shugden and ‘enthroned’ him as a powerful Dharma Protector in the realm of the Buddhas. From this, Setrap and Dorje Shugden are closely connected and very close working hand in hand always. After the cremation, the great 5th Dalai Lama built a Dorje Shugden chapel on the spot the cremation took place and named it Trode Khangsar. The 5th Dalai Lama commissioned the statue of Dorje Shugden in this chapel and had monks installed in the chapel to do continuous propitiations to Dorje Shugden. Trode Khangsar Chapel was a commemoration to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen who was wronged and also a celebration of his consciousness arising as the World Peace Peace Protector Dorje Shugden.

This Trode Khangsar Chapel still exists now in Lhasa where many make pilgrimages there. It is in good condition and was recently renovated. It is over 400 years old and a testimony to the respect the Great 5th Dalai Lama had to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen who arose as Dorje Shugden.

I have visited this holy chapel in Lhasa years back. I’ve never heard of it till I was in Lhasa and by chance, I was told about it which I was happy to visit. I could not find the place but strangely a bunch of pilgrims from Amdo told me they would show me how to get there in Lhasa.

This short video is a short clip of this holy Trode Khangsar Chapel in Lhasa today commemorating Dorje Shugden, built by the great 5th Dalai Lama. The great 5th Dalai Lama even composed a prayer to Dorje Shugden which is still available today and we can recite to invoke the blessings, protection, and assistance of World Peace Protector Dorje Shugden.

Though unmoving from the sphere of primordial spontaneity,
With wrathful turbulent power, swifter than lightning,
Endowed with heroic courage to judge good and bad,
I invite you with faith, please come to this place!

Who subdues the mamos of the charnel grounds, praise to you!

Although, previously, my wishes were a bit dense,
Do not stop your powerful apparitions, I reveal and confess!

    Dear Rinpoche,

Thank you for sharing this with us. This is yet another powerful proof of Force shugden is not a demon.

Kyabje Ling Rinpoche is a high lama with high attainments. He is so attained that he is qualified to be His Holiness the dalai Lama’s tutor. No mere simple or ordinary monk can be the Dalai Lama’s tutor. It is also impossible for the government to choose a demon practitioner to be he tutor of such an important lama. Thy must had done a lot of background checking before they chooses someone. So Dorie shugden must had been a enlightened Buddha .

Over and over again, we find more evidence proving what we already know – Dorje Shugden is an enlightened being whose practice was promoted and propagated by other enlightened beings. Despite such blatant and prolific evidence, people still continue to insist that Dorje Shugden is a spirit. It’s like pointing to the grass and saying it is green, and having people come along and insist otherwise! How do you convince people that the grass is green and not purple?

For a long time, I was trying to figure this out and it wasn’t until recently a little understanding came to me. How Tibetans view His Holiness the Dalai Lama has been inculcated in them since birth. So in their minds, what they are saying is not a lie because to them, it IS the truth. In their minds, the grass is purple, it is not green because they have been raised to think that way. Trying to convince them otherwise is next to impossible. We can present graphs, scientific papers, spectral analysis, etc. and it still wouldn’t work.

Should we hold their views and behaviours against them? I used to think we should but now I am not so sure anymore. Just like how these people view the Dalai Lama’s instructions as law, and how it is so difficult to convince them of the contrary, equally we each have our own delusions and beliefs that are unshakable in our minds. When people try to convince us out of them, they have a very tough time doing so. So the same applies for anti-Shugden people. Trying to impose our perspective on people who don’t want to know any different may actually hurt them more than help the situation.

The best we can do is to make people aware of the facts, to speak up respectfully for our religious freedoms, and to encourage people to treat one another kindly regardless of the differences in our religious beliefs. People who don’t know any better can’t help the way they think, and people who do know better will eventually get it. After all, independent of anyone’s beliefs, the incontrovertible fact remains that Dorje Shugden is an enlightened being 😉

Kyabje Ling Rinpoche is a renowned lama who is the longest Gaden throneholder in history. He was also the tutor to the 6th HHDl, 12th HHDL, 13th HHDL in his previous lifetimes. Before Kyabe Ling Rinpoche entered clear light, he was one of the two tutors to the 14th HHDL. Given that it is world known fact for the selection of HHDL’s tutors to adhere to stringent conditions and under the scrutiny of the Tibetan government, hence it is safe to say that the tutors to HHDL must be flawless in their Buddhism knowledge and practice.

The point is, by virtue of their command of Buddhism knowledge, they cannot be propitiating to anything evil. And we have facts to show that Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche are both Dorje Shugden practitioners. To me, it is uplifting to know that the tutors to the current HHDL are Dorje Shugden practitioners. It presents the other side of the coin to what CTA and HHDL’s followers claimed. The ban imposed by the CTA in the name of HHDL since 1996 causes many sufferings to Dorje Shugden practitioners as they are not allowed to basic public services and even restaurants; some of the monks were chased out of the monastery and forced to disparage their own Guru.

How inhume is this going to get before HHDL lifts the ban?! I pray that the ban be lifted soonest and hatred be elevated from the heart of Anti-Shugden people.

Thank You Rinpoche and Pastor Jean Ai for this informative blog post on Kyabje Ling Rinpoche.

    Humbly, bowing down,

Thank you Pastor Jean Ai for the clear and concise explanation about HH Ling Rinpoche’ practice of Dorje Shugden. It’s evident that HH the Dalai Lama’s claim that Ling Rinpoche doesn’t propitiate Dorje Shudgen is not correct.

The Dalai Lama manifesting so much opposition and falsity of Dorje Shugden leads to much suspicions as to his real agenda. All of the Dalai Lama’s claims have been fictitious and against the underlying foundation of Buddhism. There is so much proof that the Dalai Lama has been manifesting false claims and yet his supporters are blind to them.

This is worrying as many fanatics behave in this manner and have caused havoc and tremendous sufferings to their victims. They follow blindly what their leaders tell them without first thinking logically whether it makes sense.

We don’t need a religion to teach us how to create more sufferings for others. We’re already very good at that on our own. What’s the point of following a religion or someone who reinforces the negativity in us when, in the first place, we turn to religion for inner peace and salvation?

  65. Pastor Antoinette Kass on Feb 6, 2016 at 10:00 am

Thank you Pastor Jean Ai for sharing another evidence that Dorje Shugden is highly revered by His Holiness Kyabje Ling Rinpoche.

As shared in the article His Holiness Kyabje Ling Rinpoche was the 48. Gaden Tripa for 7 years and the 97. Gaden Tripa (Gaden Trone Holder) for 14 years. Also was he the tutor of His Holiness the 6., 12., 13. and 14. Dalai Lama.

Again so much evidence that Dorje Shugden is a Buddha and no harm will ever be done by Him.

May the ban on Dorje Shugden come down soon so that many more can benefit from this powerful World Peace Protector.

  66. nicholas on Feb 4, 2016 at 10:47 pm

Thank you Pastor Jean Ai for such an important sharing about HH Kyabje Ling Rinpoche practices Dorje Shugden. Not just a devoted practitioners but also composed prayer to propitiate the world peace protector. These are concrete evidence that can’t be denied.

Another important point here is that both HH Dalai Lama’s tutors are practicing Dorje Shugden and how can they be wrong and HH Dalai Lama as the student is right where HH learn from his two tutors? Logically unfit.

May this unnecessary ban be lifted to clear all confusion and suffering from the devoted practitioners.

  67. Ngodup sangpo on Feb 1, 2016 at 11:01 am

It’s a shame and disgraced for a lama or fake lama like you to spreading false information, forging false documents to viewers who are new to Tibetan Buddhism and tibetan history which will never ever serve good to you at all. Pity on you for accumulating all these negative karmas for yourself.

    • Pastor Elena Khong Jean Ai on Feb 1, 2016 at 3:55 pm

      Hi Ngodup Sangpo,

Thanks for taking the time to comment on Rinpoche’s blog. But I would appreciate it that before you direct more false accusations against Rinpoche, that you please explain how any of this is faked when it’s clearly an audio of Kyabje Ling Rinpoche reciting the Shugden kangsol.

I would also appreciate it if you would realise that every time Shugdenpas make an assertion or a point, we have evidence and information to back up what we say.

For example, we say there is a ban, we can provide videos and photos to show this (https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/dorje-shugden/the-dalai-lama-speaks-clearly-about-the-dorje-shugden-ban.html). When we say His Holiness Dalai Lama practised Dorje Shugden, we can produce prayers that he wrote to demonstrate this (https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/dorje-shugden/the-14th-dalai-lamas-prayer-to-dorje-shugden.html).

This is much more than anti-Shugden people have ever provided. Anti-Shugden people have never once provided a single shred of evidence to show that Shugdenpas match any of the accusations directed against them.

For your information, Tsem Rinpoche was recognised by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama as a tulku. Below I attach for a photograph taken when Khen Rinpoche Jampa Yeshe of Gaden Shartse introduced Tsem Rinpoche to Gyalwa Rinpoche, as part of the official / formal recognition process.

Rinpoche has received endorsements for his work from as high up as the Gaden Tripa (see below), who is the head of the Gelug lineage. So please keep your pity for yourself 🙂 you are accumulating a great deal of negative karma by coming to a genuine lama’s page and disparaging him (according to Ashvagosha’s 50 Stanzas of Guru Devotion).

If you believe Tsem Rinpoche is fake, I suggest that you go and seek an audience with Gyalwa Rinpoche and tell him he was wrong and he made a mistake for recognising Tsem Rinpoche. After all, you seem to have no problems telling genuine lamas that they are making mistakes 🙂

      Thanks!

Dear Rinpoche and Pastor Jean Ai,

Thank you for sharing extensive information on His Holiness Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche. Both of the highly attained masters had propitiated Dorje Shugden and the recording is a solid evidence. Both of them are Dalai Lama’s main tutors as well.

When the Dalai Lama says that Dorje Shugden Practise is a spirit practise, does that mean that both of his tutors are spirit practitioners? Do you think the Tibet government will put the future of Buddhism in the hands of spirit practitioners? Absolutely not. Think about the logic here.

I pray that the ban on Dorje Shugden Practise will be lifted as soon as possible.

  69. Pastor Adeline on Jan 27, 2016 at 11:43 pm

Thank you Pastor Jean Ai for this informative piece on His Holiness Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and His respect for Dorje Shugden.

The audio recording of HH Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and HH Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche chanting to Dorje Shugden and the prayers HH Kyabje Ling Rinpoche composed for Dorje Shugden are two very important evidence to counter HH Dalai Lama’s claim on HH Kyabje Ling Rinpoche’s Dorje Shugden practice.

These evidence cannot be ignored and must be taken into considerations when it comes to understanding the Dorje Shugden ban. If the two tutors of HH Dalai Lama hold Dorje Shugden so highly, why would we choose to listen to HH Dalai Lama since HH received all His teachings from the two tutors?

  70. Valentina Suhendra on Jan 27, 2016 at 10:25 pm

    Dear Rinpoche and PJA

Thank you for the article. Prior to reading this article, I was only aware that Kyabje Ling Rinpoche wrote a prayer that mention Dorje Shugden and other deities. But having the evidence showing that Kyabje Ling Rinpoche was a Dorje Shugden practitioner showed that both of Dalai Lama’s root gurus were relying on DS.

It does not make sense to me as to why Dalai Lama said that his Gurus’ were wrong for practicing Dorje Shugden. He opens the door of arguments that he can also be wrong and all the teachings he receives from his guru can also be wrong. The circumstances surrounding his claim are causing confusion and misunderstanding among his followers

I was very fortunate. Back in the 1970’s, His Holiness Kyabje Ling Rinpoche visited our Rashi Gempil Ling Temple in Howell, New Jersey. He gave a oral transmission of Guru Yoga of Lama Tsongkapa and Migtseyma mantra to all of us. The temple was packed. After the teaching we each had the chance to go up and get a personal blessing from Kyabje Ling Rinpoche. I was so excited. I had cut a single rose stem from our house garden and put in my pocket for this. I went up when it was my turn and took my rose out. I was dismayed to find my rose had wilted somewhat. I had no choice, I put it into Kyabje Ling Rinpoche’s lap quickly and touched my forehead to his feet while he was on the throne. He looked at me and the wilted flower and then at me again. I know he thought this is highly unusual offering a wilted single rose to him. I got his blessings and that was the first and only time I had the fortune to meet him. I can remember it clearly although it was over 40 years ago.

Later I heard Kyabje Ling Rinpoche is someone through intense practice meditational-wise became one with Sri Yamantaka! I had met Yamantaka in the flesh.

Pastor Jean Ai, thank you for such a well written article from your insightful knowledge and passion to bring dharma to others. I really appreciate this piece you wrote up. It will benefit many.

The concept of rebirth has a long association with Buddhism. Rebirth in Buddhism refers to the teaching that the actions of a sentient being lead to a new existence after death, in an endless cycle called saṃsāra. One will begins a new life in a new body that may be human, animal or spiritual depending on the moral quality of the previous life’s actions. What they are reborn as depends on their actions in their previous life rather kamma. As a Buddhist we should believe in rebirth but still many people don’t . Buddha taught us that choices of rebirth make a difference and can shape many lifetimes. Buddhists believe that nothing that exists is permanent and everything will ultimately cease to be. Against the odds two inspiring nuns fought all the way to become ordained, fighting for their rights to practice Buddhism . Interesting read of how they went through , bringing equality for women in Thailand. Buddhism is the predominant religion in Thailand. Officially, only men can become monks and novices in Thailand under a Buddhist order. The country does not recognize female monks or novices. In recent years, more Thai Buddhist women seeking to become full-fledged female monks, have been defying the tradition getting ordained overseas, in Sri Lanka or India. Buddhist women have been fighting for years for equality and social acceptance in Thailand. They just can’t be ordained by Thai monks. Ven. Dhammananda, 68 year old former university lecturer and activist became Thailand’s first Theravadin bhikkhuni after going the odds. Inspiring read biography on Ven. Dhammananda and Ven. Dr. Lee. They had gone through great hardships, discrimination and against the many odds in bringing equality to women in Buddhism in Thailand.

The unseen things are spiritual realities that are eternal and invisible to our physical eye. There are many forces and phenomena that are not visible to the naked eye. There are many things that humans cannot see yet there are some could see. For what is can be seen is only. Things do exist even we can’t see, believing their existence is our choice. Things that we can’t see in the world opens up a curiosity and exploration by some. Whether through scientific inquiry, or spiritual exploration, the pursuit of knowledge about the unseen can lead to profound insights about ourselves and the universe.
Malacca City is the historic capital of the coastal state of Malacca, in Malaysia serving as a link between east and west for over 500 years. Famous for breath-taking sights with rich heritage, ancient dark culture and history with many old centuries buildings with an interesting past and a colourful ghost story. For that reason alone it is worth visiting as is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site owing to its well-preserved historical center. There’s many historical mansions been passed down generation to generations and with many ghostly sighting by the locals and visitors. There’s the reason many unseen beings loitering and attached to these places. Such an interesting and incredibly creepy watching the video in this blog host by Li Kim. Vajrayogini symbolizes the wisdom of all enlightened beings and embodies the impulse of inspiration that drives the Buddhas to attain the perfect enlightenment. Vajrayogini is one of the most effective practices for people today. We can make offerings such as gold or jewel offerings and so on. The offering of gold helps us to collect merits, spiritual attainments, gain a deeper connection to Vajrayogini. It also creates the causes to attain a Buddha’s body.
Make Offerings to Vajrayogini in Kechara Forest Retreat at Bentong is such an meritorious way for us to collect merits. All thanks to our Guru having conceptualised the idea of having a statue of Vajrayogini for everyone . Recitation of Vajrayogini mantra can be a powerful tool for self-transformation, healing and liberation from samsara.

Thank you, Rinpoche for sharing this insightful article. Life is short, and if we enjoy every moment of every day, then we will be happy no matter what happens or what changes along the way. What ever matter to us at the time of death is nothing. In the end, it’s not the years in our life that count it’s what you leave behind that matters. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again.Death is the golden key that opens the palace of eternity. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time. Learning Dharma and practicing dharma is the our choice that’s matter. Some of the key points to take notes, read, study the Lam Rim and apply it, engage in Sadhana daily and consistently. No one will help us at the moment of death but ourselves. Spiritual practicing is the best choice.

Well the size of Buddha statues in Tibetan Buddhism is important because it represents the Buddha’s immense ability and vast knowledge. Hence the Buddha statues hold the symbol of satisfaction within, peace and happiness. They are a symbol of inspiration for every human being. When we focus on the Buddha statues, it gives us inner peace that our mind, our heart and our soul gets enlightened.
We have are so fortunate seeing and circumambulating where the 9-foot Dorje Shugden statue and with 500 mantra stones engraved with Dorje Shugden’s sacred mantra. As Rinpoche had said before the bigger and more Buddha statues helps in planting seeds of enlightenment in people’s mind-streams. It also help us to generate as much merit and purify as much karma as possible. Merely by seeing all those big statues at Kechara Forest Retreat is a blessing.

The 4th Tagpu Pemavajra Jampel Tenpai Ngodrub, most commonly known as Tagpu Dorje Chang, was a highly accomplished yogi Highly attained lama who had many authentic visions of the Buddhas and even travel astrally to receive direct teachings from them. His recognised line of incarnations stem all the way back to the 14th Century. He is generally regarded as such amongst Gelug lineage holders. He spent most of his time in a hermitage located above Sera Monastery, gave teachings and transmitted many vital practices and lineages to his foremost student Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche. Besides receiving the complete instructions of Dorje Shugden’s practice, Tagpu Dorje Chang had many other mystical experiences throughout his lifetime. Interesting read biography of a highly accomplished mahasiddha lama.

n Tibetan culture, it is a popular and customary practice for families to invite monks to perform spiritual ceremonies such as Trusol rituals. The monks have had the opportunity to offer such ceremonies for individuals or their families. Such ceremonies purify the elements of the environment which helps those living or visiting there to experience good health, success and well-being. The sacred ritual of ‘bathing’ the Buddhas and consecration through which negativities, sicknesses and obstacles will be cleared. Where by filling those areas with positive energies and good vibes through this Trusol consecration puja. Water is an essential part of this puja and symbolises the cleansing of all negativities and impurities. Through this puja it also pacifies local deities and other unseen beings in the surrounding areas. We are indeed fortunate that Tsem Rinpoche has taught Kecharians this practice and it has benefited many.

Reading this post had me gain some knowledge of Shifter Werewolves. Any article regarding rare creatures or paranormal articles are of my interest since young. In European folklore, a werewolf is a man who turns into a wolf at night and devours animals, people, or corpses but returns to human form by day. They have the ability to transform from an ordinary human appearance to a partially-lupine form with pointed ears, mutton chops, claws and fangs, and a ridged brow . Wow… werewolf tends to be vicious and unable to control his blood thirst. Their underlying common origin can be traced back to Proto-Indo-European mythology. In many depictions, these bloodthirsty beasts are evil where they kill animals and innocent people. They are humans who transition into wolf-like creatures, after being placed under a curse. In folklore, most werewolves originate from being cursed or bitten by another werewolf. That’s what they do believe. According many enthusiasts, there’s many different type of werewolves such as Alpha wolves, Beta wolves , Deltas, Elders, some survive as loners while others move in packs. How true it is no one knows. I do believe their existing . Many interesting stories related to these wolves in the past history.

Beautiful Dorje Shugden at Malacca. One should pay a visit there, located at a busy tourist place. It was such an auspicious occasion that a grand Puja was held there. Dedicated students and volunteers were there getting the place ready for the grand puja. Well the Grand Dorje Shugden puja was conducted by very own Kechara puja team to commemorate the chapel’s 3rd anniversary. Many people attended the Puja that’s wonderful to receive the powerful Protector Dorje Shugden blessings. More people will make a connection and get to know Manjushri, the Buddha of Wisdom, in the form of a Dharma Protector. May Dorje Shugden’s practice flourish to benefit those tourists and locals.

Venerable Geshe Rabten Rinpoche is a highly realised meditation master known as a debater, scholar, and meditation master, was the first Tibetan Buddhist master to introduce the complete Vinaya-tradition. He had also introduce the study of the five major topics of Buddhism to the West. He became the ‘path breaker’ of the complete and complex teachings of Buddhism in the West. Many masters, who are famous in the West today, were Geshe’s students. enerable Geshe Rabten. Geshe Rabten wrote the beautiful and Manjushri’s prayer called Gangloma and gave a profound explanation. We are so fortunate to learn about this Manjushri’s sacred prayer. May all be blessed by the practice of Lord Manjushri and Geshe Rabten’s explanation.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

The begging bowl or alms bowl is one of the simplest but most important objects in the daily lives of Theravada Buddhist monks. The alms bowl still stands as an emblem of how all Buddhas, as numerous as grains of sand in the Ganges, practiced to end their desire. All those who receive the alms bowl should focus their mind to act with self-control and self-respect. Almsgiving is a tradition of Theravada Buddhists, majority in Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Laos. In those early days of Buddhism, monks would take their bowls and go out begging for food. As today in Thailand one could see monks woke up before dawn every morning and carried his bowl through the roads or paths wherever he was staying. Local people would place food in the bowl as a donation, through the generosity of lay people. They accept whatever food is offered for them and eat whatever been given, serve as a blessing for the giver.
One bowl has held the food of a thousand families. A solitary monastic travels on his journey of a hundred thousand miles seeking liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
Thank you H.E. Tsem Rinpoche for explaining the meaning of begging and gave us more reasons to be vegetarian . Create a awareness among us not killing animals to be one.

Ajahn Siripanyo, the son of billionaire Ananda Krishnan, chose to abandon his inheritance and become a Buddhist monk in pursuit of spirituality. A Thai-Malaysian monk born in London and educated in UK. He was ordained in Thailand and lived there, leaving behind a life of immense wealth and privilege. He did surprised many and his choice was unexpected. Initially as a temporary measure, but somehow later evolved into a permanent way of life. Ven. Ajahn Siripanyo is now the Abbot of hermitage Dtao Dam on the Thai-Burmese border in Saiyok National Park, Thailand.
He was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia years back giving an enthralling Dhamma talk on the timeless teachings of Ajahn Chah.
Thank you Rinpoche for this inspiring sharing.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
