Snake Spirit
In this episode, we sail along the river banks of Amphawa Floating Market. Located at Samut Songkram, this beautiful province is a two hour drive from the capital city of Thailand, Bangkok.
The Amphawa tourist-friendly floating market is accessible by renting a small boat which can be rented by the hour or per round (around the river market). Along the riverbank, tourists are sure to see local resident housing, restaurants, shops and Wat Chulamani (a local temple).
This week, I share with you a story that relates to the time when I was residing in southern Thailand. I stayed there for about a month to do a retreat in a monastery called Wat Tham Khao Rup Chang.
Whilst I was there, I was brought a young Malaysian man who had a serious case of spirit possession. He explained how he wanted to become a model/actor, but due to his recurring blackouts for almost a year, he was unable to pursue his dream…

Burmese Temple & Floating Heads
In this episode, we have exclusive rights to film at one of the most exotic locations in Malaysia at night: The Dhammikarama Burmese Buddhist Temple.
Founded on 1st August 1803, the Dhammikarama Burmese Buddhist Temple is over 200 years old and is designated as one of the 15 Penang State Heritage Sites.
This Burmese Temple has a few halls, monks’ quarters, preceptee’s lodge, Sunday school and a library. Famous for the 8.2 metre standing Buddha statue within its main shrine hall, many protectors guard the temple grounds.
Upon exploration, we discover the Arahant Upagutta shrine. Arahant Upagutta is stated to posses the power to overcome all obstacles… and infamous for exorcising evil spirits and ghosts…

This week, we are in the Northern region of Malaysia, on the beautiful island called Penang (Pulau Pinang).
As the paranormal episode progresses, it gets even more exciting. This week, I share with all of you 2 paranormal stories…
The first relates to the filming location: Shih Chung Branch School. Around 1885, the very first 5-storey bungalow in Penang once stood as a glorious mansion that was the main talk of the town for years.
Built by a millionaire, it was sold to become someone else’s home. The building was then continuously re-sold to serve as a hotel, a girl’s high school and finally used as the administrative headquarters during the Japanese Occupation in World War II. It has since been abandoned.
The second story relates to my root guru, Zong Rinpoche. As Zong Rinpoche was leaving Tibet during the Cultural Revolution, he experienced 3 separate paranormal incidents.

Banging Pots
This week’s episode, ‘Banging pots’, describes an incident that happened 15 years ago.
It was quite a busy period, thinking back to 15 years in Singapore, as a lot of people would come to see me for discussions… usually, these were relating to personal matters. One of them was a lady who was experiencing strange occurrences in her own bedroom. Whenever she tried to sleep, she would feel someone tugging at her feet… attempting to pull her.
Upon hearing her distress, I did a divination and found that there was an ‘entity’ in her house. The divination also pinpointed a practice that would help her overcome her paranormal disturbances. This being had some karmic connection with her and would not go away easily. Instead, it would fight to stay. As the power of prayers started to take effect, it would intensify its presence: pulling, pot-banging etc in an attempt to remain.
As she was practicing at home, the sound of pots banging got louder and the tugging at her feet became stronger and more violent…
Did she continue her practice? What should we do upon encountering a spirit? … Generate compassion towards spirits – WHY?!

The Hand
In early 90s, I shared a room with a monk in a house in Gadoh. At night, I would do my studies or do my readings usually while sitting on the bed and leaning my back against the window.
One night, something happened… with all the lights on and all the fans on, I felt somebody’s hand coming through the window and touching me, but nobody was there when I looked behind!
Also, in the middle of the night when I was sleeping, somebody would rise up from the bed and walk towards me. I used to think it was my roommate, but actually it was not! The feeling of someone’s hand on my chest pressing me down and the buzzing sound I used to hear the minute the person came near my bed was really, really weird and so freaky. And these incidents would continue every night…

This week’s episode is shot at Batu Caves, a 400 million year-old limestone hill. Filled with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites, Batu Caves is located in the Gombak district, 13 kilometers north of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines, dedicated to Lord Murugan. A flight of 272 steps leads up to the temple. The statue of Lord Murugan, at the entrance of the steps, is 140 feet tall and represents the manifestations of Beauty, Youth, Masculinity, Valour and Vitality.
In these massive surroundings, I share one of my paranormal experiences which I was directly involved in.
I once received an unusual request whilst I was in Seremban giving lectures, talks and sharing with my friends – a nun wanted to see me! During her visit, she told me that in her residence, she was not able to sleep and every single night, something in her room would open the door and close the door. This would go on the whole night. She had done many rituals to stop it but the haunting only worsened because after that, she could even feel a presence touching her!
In my experience, there is a test called a divination, where a trained person can use a divination dice to determine what’s happening in the paranormal realm. So I did the dice divination for her and I succeeded in detecting the presence which was disturbing her.
In this video, I reveal my findings and also the practice she had to do to overcome this problem. In fact, she came back to me after two weeks or so, and I asked her, “Is anyone touching you now? Is the door opening and closing any more?”

The Little People
This week’s episode, “The Little People” is shot in front of the famous Petronas Twin Towers. The modern city of Kuala Lumpur, with its beautiful metropolitan view, creates the perfect contrast with the story about to be told.
During World War I, my parents had to emigrate to Eastern Europe. They settled in Belgrade, Yugoslavia and created an idealistic life for themselves.
It was there in Yugoslavia where my mother, family and neighbours witnessed a sight only ever expected to be seen on the big blockbuster screen. She recalls how it was just before World War II when they saw these little people in their hundreds covering the entire length of the street.
The Little People could foresee things, lived under ground and usually kept their identity a secret. These mystical and mythical beings had all of their belongings with them and were about to leave the country. They clearly stated their reasons for doing so, of which I disclose in the video.

The Tree
My natural mother had many personal paranormal experiences.
When I visited her whilst she was living in Philadelphia, she re-told the story of how an old man would appear from a particular window every time she attempted to sleep.
When large areas of land are cleared and trees are cut down, ‘whatever’ or ‘whomever’ was previously living there may get angered, upset and/or highly disturbed. Like anyone else in distress, the old man would come to my natural mother to express his concerns when the land surrounding her home was being cleared.
He had a particular hand gesture, a particular outfit and a particular facial expression… Watch the video to learn one possible way to stop disturbances or unwanted visitations into your home.

The Stairs
Grik, Perak
Sometime in 1994 or 1995, I and four monks stayed in a shop lot in Grik, Perak. We were there for about two to three weeks.
I shared a room with one monk and the rest slept in the other room.
Throughout our stay in this shoplot, we kept hearing footsteps walking up the stairs. These footsteps were not random, but deliberate and even rhythmic. It was as if someone who wore very hard wooden shoes was walking. And the sound came closer or became louder – as if it was approaching the room I was sleeping in. Even the other monk sharing the room with me heard these strange footsteps.
Later I learnt that the monks in the other room also heard these footsteps. One monk in particular had an even eerier experience. Watch the video to find more.

In this episode, I tell you a little of what you can expect from this paranormal blog. I also explain where my interests in the paranormal stemmed from.
To mark this special beginning of the blog, I have decided to share a chilling story from my late mother’s childhood as a young girl in Yugoslavia during World War 2.
Imagine a ten-year old child coming into contact with a tall dark figure with ‘fire’ for eyes. Now, imagine what the family had to do in order to protect this child. The outcome is both surprising and enlightening.

I have enjoyed reading books or watching paranormal videos from time to time.. I do believed unseen beings definitely do exist. As long as we do no harm or disturb them , they too do us no harm. But in all we got to accept it seriously as in some cases the unseen beings might be aggressive. We are fortunate we have Dorje Shugden protecting us ….having trust and faith in our practice , respecting the unseen being by making offerings to them. All the paranormal stories which Rinpoche experiences were interesting and scary. I do enjoyed the snake spirit , Banging Pots to name . Seem to be interesting.

For the pass 20 year with rinpoche, i had withness few cases rinpoche discribe in the paranomal stories. One of the first story meeting with the young Malaysian monk who prosesses of snake spirit at Thailand monastery. Rinpoche has kindly save the young monk suffered from snake spirit disturburn. When seeing this young monk suffer, rinpoche asked the young monk come to meet him daily during rinpoche retreat to received blessing .Beside that, rinpoche also teach the young monk singtongma practise to protect himself for disturbinh. Within a monlth with the blessing from rinpoche, the snake spirit can not prosesses young monk anymore. I had withness this story and realise how powerful the tantric deity practise and the lama compassion to save the young monk.
Rinpoche also told us to treat the entity with respect and not harming them. Make offering to them and request not to disturb. When entity is in peace, they will not disturb people. The unseen being or spirit is all around us, is not possible we avoiding their existing. If we no have karma to get harm, they can not harm us just like that. Beside that, few practise rinpoche will advise people for people have spirit disturbing problem and black magic. Those practise are Setrap, Kalarupa, Dorje Shugden, Singtongma, and Dulkar is very effective for protection from spirit harm.
I really like all these stories. I always thought the movies and stories are just invented but now that I know Buddhism and the six realms I know that there are such beings.
Rinpoche always gives some background beforehand such as in the burning eyes, the first of these videos. I hope that we can listen to more of the stories that Rinpoche’s mum told.
The stories also show the power of the mantras and how they protect us from scary beings. Thank you.
I find the story of the Little People interesting and fascinating. I do not discount that beings of such nature exist and that they live beneath earth. I always say that scientists have not exhausted searching for life forms on earth’s mountains, forests, lands, seas and oceans yet they spend so much time and money searching in outer space. Perhaps beings like yeti live in snow caves deep underground, and their cousins bigfoot could too live in subterranean caves in the mountains. Maybe that explains why these creatures’ dwellings have not be traced and also why scientists could not find their skeletons.
Beings are literally reside at anywhere & being actove anytime.
Respect & compassion are the 2 component as antidote for paranormal events.
To many of us, because we can’t see it, we will not or fully believe in Paranormal. Rinpoche mentioned in the video that to him paranormal are normal and all types of being exist. I think the different is our faith towards Buddhism. Buddha has taught us the 6 realms and if you believe fully , we should accept all types of beings exist. There are many things in life we can’t see them but they exist, example is air/oxygen. To me, I had personally experience the paranormal and we should seek the refuge to the enlightened being for protection. We may have the karma to connect with the spirits but with the refuge, prayers and reciting the mantra can prevent from them to harm us. Dorje Shugden’s rites, rituals, prayers, meditations and protective mantras are one of the best for protection against spirit and black magic.
Thank you RInpoche for sharing these paranormal stories, it is indeed many people does not believe the existence of spirits, but doesnt mean they are not real, it is only we cant see them, and they are probably around us everyday, it is just that, we cant see them.
In one of the video, Rinpoche mentioned about reciting Dukkar mantras, and yes, Dukkar is very powerful and very effective in protecting us against spirit disturbances, I would like to share a stories about what my friend encountered many years ago:
Baby keep crying every night
One night, i received a call from my friend saying her few months old baby was crying and she just keep crying every night, it is very clear that she is not hungry, not sick, but just keep crying very badly, and she will cry till the face turn green, she felt something is not right. She said one of her friend who has ‘special’ ability told her that her room has spirits and they are disturbing her baby, she ask me what can she do.
That time I introduce her Dukkar, as I know Dukkar is very powerful in protecting us from spirit disturbance, hence, I advice her to print out a Dukkar image from the internet, put it in her room and then recite her mantra everyday. Out of no other choices and solutions, she did what I said, believe it or not, after a few days of reciting Dukkar mantras, her baby stopped crying at night and it never happened again. (till the last time we contacted)
Paranormal experiences are nothing new for many particularly in this part of the region. I believe all these are real and not to be ignored. We might think it won’t happen to us and only some experience this but that doesn’t mean we won’t be exposed to this even if we are not sensitive about it. What I am trying to say is that we might not see it but that doesn’t mean paranormal experiences doesn t happen on us.
These are very interesting stories! I do believe that unseen beings or spirits do exist. It’s really sad to see that some of them had so strong attachment that cause them to stay in the ghost realm. As a Buddhist, we understand that sometimes it’s due to our karmic connection with them, that caused us to cross path with them. And, we also understand that spirits, ghost, unseen beings, were once human, they might have more anger, fear, and attachment than us human that caused them to stay in ghost realm. Although most of the time we, human are afraid of the thing that we can’t see and we don’t know, I think we should show them compassion by dedicating merit to them, help them, so that they can swiftly exhaust their karma and get out of the lower realm, in stead of fear of them, or to over power them by getting rid of them.
I would say the most spooky story will be The Hand and The Floating Heads. This is because if I encounter this two scenarios myself, I would have freak out, fainted or get a heart attack. Although we learn Tibetan Buddhism and we know other beings of the lower realms do exist, we will on one hand be afraid too. So long as we do not harm them they will not harm us back. We do have to respect the beings as we are using or taking up their space. We need to talk nicely and make offerings to appease them.
I found that spirits or unseen being that came to us may due to our existing that had “disturbed” their peace or conquer their territories. Spirits won’t come freely unless we are karmically linked with them or unintentionally provoke karma with it. Scary to know that the attachments, desires of these poor souls were so strong that could nearly caused a life!
What I think that compassion is the key to their liberation. Mantras recitation or pujas are very good practice for them to receive blessings, calming them and even good rebirth.
Normally I would come across paranormal stories dealing with the unseen to be scary and with violent methods of exorcism. What Rinpoche shares with us is that for the formless or spirits of the other realm to be appeased and treated with respect and compassion.
However, the peaceful methods of prayers and acts of offering of material “things” can initially bring about violent reaction from the unseen beings. With faith and persistence in our prayers eventually the spirits will be appeased and leave us alone.
Besides teaching us the way of compassion for the paranormal beings, in this article Rinpoche also showed me many temples which I have never known that exist in Malaysia.
Even with this new learning of what can be done when afflicted with spirits or beings of paranormal nature, I pray that I will not meet with such a situation.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing interesting paranormal stories! I especially like the little people story. My first time hearing such people. It would be really interesting to know more about them. There would be so many questions to ask. Where do they actually come from? Was it mentioned in the scriptures like Bigfoot and aliens? So intriguing.
The other one would be the banging pots. It is such a pity that the lady stopped the practice. I am sure it was terrifying for her but she should have continued the practice and see the results. Instead of just giving up and suffer more. I wonder what happened to her.
Many of the videos taught me that faith is most important, be it our Guru or the Buddhas as they are the ones who can truly help us out of wisdom and compassion no matter what.
I always believe in unseen beings. What we can’t see doesn’t mean they don’t exist. What important is respect and we always watch our behaviour in anywhere we go. For example like the snake spirit story. Just by being disrespect the man offended the beings and it come to the point wanted his life. It can be as serious as such. Once we created the karma with this being the connection is there. If we don’t have any guru or highly attained being to help us it will be very difficult for us to be able to put through.
It’s important for us to seek refuge to the enlightened being for protection. At this degenerate time we have accumulated countless negative karma from our previous lives and there will be no surprise for us to encountered obstacles in our lives. Obstacles can be in any form such as spirit disturbances, accident, sickness or any negative encountered.
I’m very fortunate to be given Dorje Shugden practice ny my Guru H.E. the 25th Tsem Rinpoche to support my daily life and provide conducive condition for me to continue my spiritual journey.
When I was younger, I’m easily got influence with ghost stories. As I’m getting older, I’m more less fear of spirits and I even encountered it.
In the videos, I like stories of snake spirit, the floating head, and the hand reminded me of the paranormal that I have during my schooling days. It happened on daylight when I thought of taking short cut by walking thru a park to reach my activity place. Friends have been telling me eerie of the park, but I ignored because I passed many time and nothing happened. One day, I hit it! While walking thru, I feel little goose-bump and sudden, I felt somebody hit my back, I ignored and it hit another time on my butt! I walked as fast as I could and never look back. Since then, I never passed that place anymore. ?
Years later, I heard from my friend said that, the park was once a place where the Japanese beheaded the locals during WW 2. Until now, the park still eerie and spooky.

I’ve been asked what sparked my interest in the paranormal and I can say that I’ve always held the fascination. As a small child, I remember wanting to hear ghost stories, watching anything to do with the paranormal, and even looking for UFOs with my older brother. Ha ha.Really I think it just comes down to the paranormal being an unsolved mystery. I want to enjoy trying to discover the reason or meaning behind something
This blog post has some of the best videos of spirit encounters, my favourite ones would be the stairs and banging pots. The story of the banging pots reminded me of one of my mom’s encounters with spirits.
When my mom first came to KL to work, she used to live with her old friend in an apartment in Bangsar. My mom has a very strange connection with spirits, they seem to be attracted to her and would always ‘target’ and disturb her.
So there was one night, she was home alone and she was having her dinner, suddenly she heard a loud noise coming from the kitchen, it sounded like someone opening a can or something. She went to the kitchen and found a can of milo opened, she knew that there was company because it could not have been anyone else since she was home alone.
Later at night when she was preparing to sleep, she heard loud crumble sounds paper bags make, she could hear the noises very closely as if someone was standing next to her be, playing with paper bags. Spirits can do just anything to get attention or even try to disturb their ‘targets’.
I have always enjoyed paranormal show since a very young age, as I truly believe the existence of unseen beings around us. In Buddhism teaching, we believe that the unseen do exist as there are realms beyond the human realms. When a human passed away, one will take rebirth either in the upper realms (i.e. Gods realm and Demi-Gods realm) or the lower realms (animals realm, hungry ghost realm or hell realm), in accordance to one’s karma.
As long as one is not liberated from samsara, one will perpetually take rebirth in these 6 realms, while the 3 lower realms is about suffering as a consequences of the bad actions one had done, the 2 upper realms are not exactly conducive environment for one to practice dharma. According to Lam Rim, it is very rare to take the human rebirth, hence we must cherish our optimum human rebirth to do dharma work, collect merits, purify negative karma and go all the day to engage in virtuous act that can liberate us from samsara, eventually.

Having been a student and practicioner of the deepened view (Advaita,Compassion pratice,Bhakt Yoga,self inquiry,disciplines,psychological inquiry) in regards to the Snake Spirit story…I wonder whether just a animistic,mythological approch is the only inquiry necessary in regards to the young man. I wonder if a western psycological /shadow material approach could also be applied to such “blacking out” phenomenon. That blacking out couls also possibly be a deep subconscious sort of exit stradegy on the part of the young man. Invoking or imaginig “spirits” may be a substitute for deep,perhaps even Freudian conflicts /investigations needed within him.

Thank you for making this series of videos to share with us these interesting stories.
With all these Paranormal sightings and experiences from so many people, it is obvious that unseen beings do exist. This also mean that rebirth and next life is real.
With this in mind, we have to start to think about what will happen when we die. Where will we go and what will we do when death comes. If we do not start preparing for it, it will be too late when death comes and knock on our doors. Only dharma and our Guru can helps us when we die.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing all these paranormal story very interesting to hear all these story I personally do believe in all these being that they do exits even I never experience them before as all the stories I like most of them but in particularly the burning eyes because That story is very much tell us this being who are in different realm they are much what is describe as abnormal because the eyes is on fires because I always curious how are they look like I guess they should not look like us is like ET , thank you Rinpoche for sharing hope to hear more story from Rinpoche.

Now with Dharma, I learnt that the spirit world is one of six realms in Samsara and do feel sad for the spirits stuck there due to their fears and attachments.
