Is it okay when I visualise that the essence of the statue/image is the genuine Buddha? Or when I see that inside/internally the image is a genuine Buddha.
Or do I have to see the image itself as the Buddha

Dear Luna,

We are taught to think of any Buddha as the actual Buddha, not that the essence of the statue/image of the Buddha is a genuine Buddha. But the actual statue itself. The same goes for Dharma texts, seeing it as the Dharma jewel, the same applies for the Sangha too. These are part of the Refuge commitments. When we take Refuge, we are taught the vows, which stop us from collecting negative karma. But there are commitments involved as well. Commitments help us to created merit and positive energy when benefits us in both secular and spiritual life. I hope this helps.

Can lgbt be monks and nuns? Especially trans people? Can a trans-man be with the monks and male-part of Sangha?
Can I recite prayers in my mind or does it have to be out loud. I find that I concentrate more when in mind, because when I voice my orayers out loud my mind thinks about this and that. But when I THINK the read the prayers IN MY MIND, those random thoughts go away.
Is Vajrayogini one with Tsongkhapa? or is it just simply that Tsongkhapa has to ability to transform himself to Vajrayogini.

The term ‘Lgbt’ covers many categories of people. In short, yes and no. It depends on the specific category. However, some categories are mentioned in the Vinaya, other categories are not, so it depends on the ordination master. There are certain categories of people that have traditionally been restricted to becoming monastics, however some ordination masters may allow such a person as time has changed. A trans man may becoming a monk depending again on what your definition of trans actually is.

Prayers should be recited out loud but softly. Prayers and mantras especially are the form of a particular Buddha in sound, the very sound made through recitation has an affect on us and is the medium through which the energies of the Buddhas benefit us. There are prayers or mantras recited only in the mind, but those are usually only included in higher teachings such as tantra, for which you need to take vows and hold commitments to engage in. For normal prayers that the non-initiated engage in, they should be spoken out loud but softly as mentioned earlier.

Vajra Yogini and Tsongkhapa are one. In fact, all the Buddhas are one. This is what is known as the Dharmakaya or the Truth Body of a fully enlightened being. This is ‘one’ thing but encompasses every single enlightened being. So when Rinpoche talked about Lama Tsongkhapa transforming into Vajra Yogini, it was a way for students to understand Vajra Yogini better, as they were already familiar with Lama Tsongkhapa. So Rinpoche was showing that even though the forms may be different, ultimately they are the same – completely enlightened. I hope this helps.

Dear Shamik,

Thank you for your question. Yes of course it is possible to reach enlightenment but still living a lay life. Obviously, it is easier for those who are monks and nuns to reach enlightenment, because of the power of the vows that they take and that they don’t have to spend time and energy on thinking about secular affairs. So it is still possible for lay people, however they need to make time and put more effort into their practice and transformation. Many great master of the past have been lay people, and not monks or nuns.

They way to work towards reaching enlightenment is the same, it is through study, contemplation, meditation and transformation. In Kechara we follow the path of the Lamrim teachings, according to our tradition. This teaching provides practitioners (whether lay or monastic) the pathway and knowledge of how to practice and what to contemplate on and how to meditate properly. How do we renounce the rubbish parts of us and our lives? What does renouncing mean and is enlightenment possible?

Dear Kay,

Renunciation in Buddhism means we develop the motivation to get out of samsara. In order to know what samsara really is, you need to learn what life is actually really like. This is basically the first and second of the Four Noble Truths taught by Buddha Shakyamuni – there is sufferings & sufferings has its causes – karma. But the thing is that we often don’t realise we are suffering. In Buddhism, even when we think we are happy, we are actually sufferings. All of this included within teachings such as the Lamrim. Once you have studied and comprehended the teachings intellectually, you need to contemplate them and see if they apply to your life. The answer in short will be that, yes they do if you really and truly contemplate your life, etc. you will find that you are suffering in some way. So renunciation develops from this understand. Since you know you are suffering, you want to get out of that suffering. So you renounce samsara in it’s entirety, the bad and even the good, because even the good within in samsara will lead you to suffer.

In order to renounce samsara completely, to get out of it, you need to achieve enlightenment, just like Buddha Shakyamuni did. Is this possible? Yes, of course it is. Buddha Shakyamuni did it, practitioners since his time have done it. Buddha would not have taught something that did not benefit others, so his teachings take us to that state. But even before Buddha Shakyamuni’s time there have been many enlightened beings, they all reached that state. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Can I have hindu gods as Buddhas? Like Hindu Saraswati as Saraswati, Ganesha as white Ganapati/maharakta Ganapati, Lakshmi as Yellow Vasudhara, and so on?

Dear Anonymous,

Yes of you can do this. However, when you make offerings on your altar, you should think they are representations of the Buddhas, and not gods. Then you are making offerings to the actual Buddhas.

Having such images on your altar is okay, but when you are engaged in their actual practices, you should visualise the Buddhas according to the practice itself. For example, Saraswati is visualised differently. Her iconography is very specific and unique is very much linked to how to do the practice itself. So in your practice itself you should follow the practice texts properly.

Actually physical images on our altar are meant to be an aid for our visualisation, in order to get the details of the deity correct, etc. That’s why the best statues to have are the ones that adhere to the iconography of the deity you are practising. However, if due to personal preference you want to use images of the Hindu gods, that is perfect alright. But it means you need to learn the visualisations of the practice better, because you won’t have an external image on your altar to help guide your practice. I hope this helps.

Or can I simply visualise Vajrayogini as one with my Guru?

Can you explain each of the paragraphs in Yonten Shigyurma? I say it blindly without understanding but I know that's wrong

When you are starting on Vajra Yogini’s practice without having the initiation, you visualise Vajra Yogini and your Guru as one. Whichever Buddha you are practising, you visualise them as being one with your Guru. In fact, since you do not have the initiation, you cannot recite Vajra Yogini’s actual mantra. The way to do it, is to visualise her as one with your Guru and then recite your Guru’s name mantra. That way, you are praying to Vajra Yogini, because she is actually one and the same as your guru. I hope this makes sense?

To explain the Yonten Shugyurma is beyond the ability of this section of the blog. The prayer itself is actually a condensed form of the Lamrim. To understand that prayer properly, you need to have studied and contemplated on the topics of the Lamrim. Dear Rinpoche, I am an ordinary human being who is jobless and sufferred a lot due to my bad karma, i saw some where that this year i am yet to face lots of difficulties and this keeps me stressed. I used to recite sampa lhuendrup and dolma but i couldnt continue. And nowadays i hear bad news, and lots of rejections in whatever i do and dream of going downward. What should i do ?
I am getting frustrated day by day and sadness has over flown my life. My mind has stopped working. My birth mewa is 9 but not able to prosper my life.

Thank you for your message. And very sorry to hear that you are having a hard time at the moment. First of all, this section is answered by the Kechara Pastors. Everything that we go through in life, whether good or bad has a reason, and that reason is karma. So any practice that we do, necessarily deals with karma in one form or another. If we are experiencing negative states in our lives, that means that negative karma has opened up. In order to overcome those negative states, we can engage in the practices or pujas of certain Buddhas.

May I ask why you stopped reciting the Sampa Lhundrup and Drolma prayers? They are very, very powerful and effective in overcoming these types of obstacles.

Since your birth Mewa is No. 9, you should engage in practices connected with Manjushri or Lama Tsongkhapa. But since you are going through such a tough time, I suggest you engage in the practice and mantra of Dorje Shugden. He is a Dharma Protector, and an emanation of Manjushri. Hello and thank you for your question. When you see your Guru and Buddha as one, that does not mean that the deity himself/herself takes on the physical characteristics of your Guru. Rather it means that you think that the deity, with all their unique iconographic characteristics is in fact your Guru, just in a different physical form. Think about it like changing clothes. Someone can wear different types of clothes and this changes their appearance and how they look. But actually they are the same person. Similarly, even though the Guru and the Buddha we are practising look very different, you have to have the thinking and feel that the Buddha and the Guru are the same being. When practising Lama Tsongkhapa’s Guru Yoga follow the visualisations as it is taught in the practice, but think that it is your Guru.

Does doing mantras without empowerment make them less effective. I was told by a dharma sister that an empowerment brings you closer to the deity and if you do mantras without empowerment it may take longer to see effects.

In essence, mantras are the sacred energies of the enlightened beings in the form of sound. For the recitation of some mantras, empowerment is a must. You cannot recite the mantra without having the empowerment, and associated vows and commitments.

For common mantras, for example as shared on most pages on this website, you can recite them without empowerment. This doesn’t mean they are not effective or slower compared to having an empowerment. Though if you do have the empowerment, you have the blessings of the deity that you are practising and the lineage gurus, so it can be easier.

However, that is not the main point that determines how fast you are able to get closer to the deity. The main point is how much effort you put into the practice, not just reciting the mantra, but the associated visualisations, contemplations and meditations while you recite. Coupled with this is your general transformation based on other Dharma teachings. When you do these together, you get closer to the deity faster, even if you do or do not have empowerment. Anyway, I usually do Ucchusma practice done in the bathroom, I usually chant her mantra out loud, but I'm starting to wonder if it's even okay to say it out loud! If it's okay, does that also apply to Tantric deities with the visualisation and chanting their mantra??

Yes, an aspirational prayer is a prayer to achieve something. So yes it’s like a prayer setting goals you want to achieve.

When chanting mantras, they should be chanted out loud, but very softly. Think of it like this, if there was someone sitting near you, they wouldn’t be able to hear the actual mantra you are chanting, they would just hear that you are saying something, but they wouldn’t know what. This is the same with any mantra during personal practice. The higher tantric deities are different. But in general, unless you have received initiation, this is how to chant mantras. They should be chanted softly so you are actually making the sound of the mantra but not so that it disturbs others. I hope this helps. Thanks.

I have made a promise to complete 100000 white dzambala mantras. I'm nearing the 50000 mark and I have started to nightmare consecutively. These nightmares have a similar theme of me getting murdered or me murdering someone over something valuable. By nature I'm not a violent person and I'm not a greedy person. The how perpose of me doing dzambala is to create the causes for me to have enough to go in to retreat. Is this a sign of purification or is there an obstacle or am i doing something wrong

Hello Jason,

Thank you for your message. Very sorry to read that you have been having such nightmares. There is no need to worry about these nightmares, you can take them as purification or simply your unconscious mind processing things in your sleep. Quite often the dreams we have are simply our minds working things out, but they appear as very strange and sometimes terrifying ways in our sleep. When you have such dreams, acknowledge the fact that you had them but then let them go, don’t think about them so much. You can think of it as purification, so be happy that you had the dream, instead of being scared or thinking you have done something wrong. Then continue on with your day and try not to think about them too much. Instead rejoice that you made such a promise and that you are fulfilling it every day when you recite the mantra.

Am I correct in assuming you are just reciting the mantra? Not any prayers or sadhanas of White Dzambala. Do you have any initiation into the practice or simply reciting the mantra? If you are just reciting the mantra, then there is no need to worry of having done anything wrong. You can keep reciting until you finish the mantra count. If you still cannot let go of the feeling of being scared from the nightmares, then you can engage in Dharma Protector practice to help clear the obstacles and fear.

In general however, continue reciting the mantra. If you have an altar to White Mahakala, make offerings every day to the best of your ability and means. This will also be very helpful and generate a lot of merit for you. I sincerely rejoice for you for having made such a promise and your effort in completing the count. You have my prayers also that you will be able to go into a retreat. I hope this helps.

Hi, I meant that if I can do Tsongkhapa’s practice but use Vajrayogini as the focus, so I'm technically "practicing" her. I was watching some Vajrayogini videos & Tsem Rinpoche said that we can "start" on Vajrayogini now even without initiations (But we aren't reciting her prayer/mantra)
I also have another question on one of the 50 verses of Guru Devotion/the commentary on one of the verses, it said that we cannot associate ourselves w/ people who belittle their Guru, was this supposed to be taken seriously? Because what if our own family belittled their Guru? What if our friends, partner, etc belittles their Guru? This got me questioning a lot!!

Okay, now I understand. Yes, you can ‘start’ on Vajra Yogini now. That doesn’t mean you can ‘practise’ Vajra Yogini, which actually requires initiation. You start making a connection with her now though doing the prayers that you can do without initiation. These are not the same as Tsongkhapa’s practice. That is completely separate practice, and needs to remain different. We should not mix the practices as they have been taught. In regards to the 50 verses, the point about not associating yourself with those who belittle their guru, yes it is meant to be taken seriously. If this is someone close to you, the question arises, why is that person belittling their own guru? It means that they do not have enough faith in their guru. Guru Devotion in Tibetan Buddhism is very important, especially for tantric practices and on many different levels. The reason why we shouldn’t associate with such people is because if our guru devotion is not strong enough, then they can sway our thinking about the guru. If this happens, there is no way to further on the tantric path, as the guru plays a very important role, not just in teaching you the practice but in your own daily sadhana and meditations. If those around you have a guru but belittle him/her, perhaps it is better for you to gently encourage them not to have such negative views and to increase the faith in their guru. I want to replace the Tsongkhapa and Dorje Shugden picture with a Vajrayogini I will be getting soon so I'll technically start on Vajrayogini's practice,I will just be doing Gaden Lhagyama. But I was wondering, in the dissolution part of the yoga, do we visualise Lama Tsongkhapa and his 2 sons as Vajrayogini?? Or leave them as they are? And since I will have Vajrayogini replace Tsongkhapa, it would also replace Dorje Shugden, would that also be okay?

Thanks for your message. Actually, you do not need to replace the images of Lama Tsongkhapa and Dorje Shugden on your altar, you can just add the image of Vajra Yogini to it. You should place Lama Tsongkhapa in the middle, Vajra Yogini to the left and Dorje Shugden to the right. That is a traditional way of placing them all on your altar.

May I ask what you mean be you’ll be starting on Vajra Yogini practice? In order to practice the prayers, visualisations and mantras of Vajra Yogini you need to have received initiation into her practice by a qualified guru. Or do you mean that you are following this article: https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/inspiration-worthy-words/starting-on-vajra-yogini-now.html ? This actually includes Lama Tsongkhapa’s Guru Yoga.

The practice of Lama Tsongkhapa’s Guru Yoga and Vajra Yogini’s practice are very different. The methods, visualisations, prayers, etc should not be mixed together. If you are practicing Lama Tsongkhapa’s Guru Yoga you should not visualise Vajra Yogini during any part of that prayer. The same applies for Dorje Shugden’s practice. I think perhaps you may be a little confused about what you are doing. You can celebrate Losar in many ways. The best and most spiritual way to celebrate anything is to engage in as many virtuous activities on that day. For example, making abundant offerings on your home altar and engaging in prayers, going to temple and making abundant offerings on that day, liberating animals, engaging in retreat, reciting scriptures, etc. This isn’t just for Losar however, any day that you celebrate should be marked with these things, especially on birthdays and anniversaries. That is the best way to celebrate something important. I hope this helps.

Is Buddha Head disrespectful because of colonial history and it look like decapitated?

Dear Vuong Luc Duong,

Traditionally speaking depicting only the head of the Buddha or an enlightened beings is not considered to be good, especially as you said that it looks like the Buddha has been decapitated. Such images aren’t really used for religious purposes but more by interior decorators, etc. Within Buddhism, one of the commitments of taking Refuge is to view any image of the Buddha as the Buddha himself, so it should be respected. Using Buddha images just for interior decoration therefore is not recommended for Buddhists, especially when not placed respectfully.

That being said, busts of the Buddhas are okay, because it doesn’t look like they have been decapitated, it is just a representation of their torso and head. For example, we have busts of Dorje Shugden here in Kechara: https://www.vajrasecrets.com/dorje-shugden-bust. However, again, these are not used for interior decoration purposes but religious purposes and to be put on altars, or places respectfully in your home. I hope this helps.

I’m not completely what it is that you are asking, as in what sort of reply you are looking for. According to Buddhism, money or having material items will not lead to lasting happiness. They are temporary and fleeting. So from the results side, only chasing after money will not lead you to have a fulfilled life. You will not actually be happy, and neither will those around you be happy. When you focus on spiritual transformation and become a better person, on your journey towards enlightenment, then you will be happy. You look inwards and are in charge of your own destiny rather than at the mercy of simply chasing after money. I hope this helps.

I promised someone that I will not burn candle due to the possibility of causing a fire. But am I now bound to this promise? At the same time, maybe the Buddha's are trying to tell me that you don't have to bave candles and all of this mystical stuff to be "true blue" Buddhist. Idk why something about candles really spark my interest, especialy when it's associated w/ Buddhism, maybe I just need to detach, thoughts?

Thanks for your message. Yes, if you promised someone that you will not burn candles due to fire hazard, then you need to stick to your promise. Otherwise, you can talk to that same person again and try to find a comprise when burning candles, for example heat proof casing, etc.

Actually, when offering lights, its not 100% necessary to offer real candles. In fact, nowadays many Buddhists including Tsem Rinpoche and most Kecharians in fact offer electric candles in our homes. It’s actually the offering of light that is the offering, not the candle itself, so using electric candles is more than acceptable. In fact it is encouraged, because of the fire hazard if we are not careful when offering candles.

Yes, anyone can become enlightened. Whether you are Buddhist or not. The prime example of this is the historical Buddha Shakyamuni himself. He was not a “Buddhist”, but he attained enlightenment. Buddhism follows the path and methods that he taught to attain that state. But even within Buddhism, we do not believe that we practice the only path to the state of enlightenment.

That would actually negate the power of the enlightened beings, who teach paths according to the time, place, and propensities of beings. So, there can be many paths towards enlightenment. Buddhists follow the path as taught by Lord Buddha, because that is a sure, tried and tested manner to achieve higher states of consciousness and enlightenment itself. However, it is not the only way. I hope this helps.

What are the signs of a reincarnated lama? For example what are the signs we should look for to determine Tsem Rinpoche's next reincarnated person? I'm not sure if this is the correct word but basically what are the signs of a tulku?? Especially the Tulku of Tsem Rinpoche..

There can many different signs, for example the types of dreams the parents have, the childbirth itself, the way the child acts and behaves. Sometime they clearly tell their parents who they are, etc. Most have a natural affinity towards Dharma and Dharma practice. Some chant mantras without every having heard them. Others can recite Dharma texts in their entirety after only hearing or reading them once. Some have signs on their body resembling signs on the body of their previous reincarnation, etc. They can remember people that they knew in their previous life and intricate details of events as well. They can recognise items that they used etc.

However, the defining factor for the recognition of the reincarnation of high lama is actually done by other high lamas, and also, in the case of our lineage, through Dorje Shugden in trance of an oracle. I hope this helps.

That’s a good question. There are two ways to help the global warming problem. One is to make prayers and engage in practices that are for healing and calming natural environmental energies. Engaging in prayers like this and using those energies to bless the environment is very good. Such practices include Medicine Buddha, Lama Tsongkhapa, Manjushri Nagarakshasa, etc. There are many.

However the most important spiritual practice is actually to change our behaviour. That is the real meaning of spiritual practice, to change our every day behaviour to be more harmonious with the environment, as much as we can be while living in urban environments. That includes becoming vegetarian or vegan, stop using animal products, cut down our waste, cut down energy needs, etc. Not only that, but living a conscious and healthy lifestyle. That way we can contribute to helping solve the issue. However, if it’s only me and you doing this, then it’s not going to have much of an impact. So we need to gently educate others about the nature of global warming as well. The more people that live a conscious lifestyle, the more we can help the global warming situation. I hope this helps.

Meet the Pastors

Serving the community. Tirelessly

Combining the responsibilities of the ordained and the appearance of a layperson, pastors are the connection between the sangha and the everyday practitioner. They are ordinary people who have taken an extraordinary step in dedicating their lives towards sharing the Buddhist tradition. As laypeople holding vows, pastors will make the Dharma accessible to more people, giving them guidance and sharing knowledge. Pastor Chia (sangha to be)

As a pastor, Chia will dedicate his life to befitting others through spreading the works of Tsem Rinpoche and Dharma to many people, through the use of pujas, rituals, counseling and sharing of his knowledge.

Ordained as a Pastor in 2011, Chia Song Peng has had a rich and varied Dharma career. He has held a core position with the Kechara Paradise retail outlets, served as a personal attendant to Tsem Rinpoche, embarked on various pilgrimages and received initiations into higher yoga tantric practices. He is accomplished in many pujas and has a deep understanding of the Dharma.

As a pastor, Chia has dedicated his life to befitting others through spreading the works of Tsem Rinpoche and Dharma to many people, through the use of pujas, rituals, counseling and sharing of his knowledge.

When Chia first met Tsem Rinpoche, he was asked if he wanted to become a monk, however even though this was his aspiration he informed Tsem Rinpoche that he would do so at a later date. For Chia, as he has is already in the Dharma full-time, it would be best if he became ordained. Tsem Rinpoche has reminded Chia from time to time to work towards becoming a monk and he promised that he would do so in the future.

Kechara began from nothing to become a growing Dharma organisation with major projects such as Kechara Forest Retreat, so Chia thinks that this is the perfect time to become ordained as a monk. Recently Tsem Rinpoche asked Chia again if he would like to be ordained, this time Chia said yes.

Pastor Khong Jean Ai (sangha to be)

Jean Ai wishes to become a vessel that holds the teachings of Lama Tsongkhapa to benefit future generations, inspiring others to live by the Buddha’s teachings.

Jean Ai met His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche as a young child and through her parents' involvement with Kechara over the years, she has never known a life without His Eminence. Jean Ai was a regular volunteer of Tsem Ladrang during her childhood and teenage years. After graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Warwick in the UK and working at the London Probation Service, she returned to Kuala Lumpur to join Tsem Ladrang's e-division. There she managed kechara.com, responsible for the weekly Kechara e-newsletter, including content generation and editing. Since then she has joined His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s writing team, responsible for executing Rinpoche’s personal instructions and managing his correspondence.

Having visited a nunnery in India in 2004, Jean Ai remembers noticing how happy and purposeful everyone was. She had a feeling of familiarity and the sight of the robes comforted her. Immediately, Jean Ai messaged her mother who told her to ask Rinpoche’s advice. Rinpoche told her to complete her secular education so that when she taught the Dharma her words would carry the credibility and weight of a university degree, something she completed with the motivation that some day she wanted to become a nun.

Through her ordination as a nun, Jean Ai wishes to become a vessel that holds the teachings of Lama Tsongkhapa to benefit future generations, inspiring others to live by the Buddha’s teachings. Through this she hopes to repay the kindness of her parents and her Guru. Above all she wants to abide in a state free of suffering, and she wants this for others as well.

Pastor Shin Tan (sangha to be)

For Shin, this is a great step forward to being fully committed to the cause of others and repaying others’ kindness through sharing the Dharma with others.

Before joining Kechara, Shin worked as a lecturer and provider of content and e-learning content solutions for various start-ups. Whilst providing training to educators teaching students in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) at various colleges, she was invited to attend a Dharma talk given by His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche at Kechara House. This event rekindled her interest in Tibetan Buddhism, as she recalled the joy of accompanying her parents to teachings as a teenager.

Joining Kechara Media & Publications in 2006 as a volunteer, Shin assumed a full time position there as a Marketing Executive, with the aim of making His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s teachings available to more people around the world. Shin is now a member of the Tsem Ladrang Team, who takes care of His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s secular matters, enabling Rinpoche to focus on teaching the holy Dharma.

Shin states that when she decided to join Kechara full time, she had already decided to be of some benefit to others and spend the rest of her life doing only that. Working closely with His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche, seeing his tireless effort in helping others and spreading the Buddhadharma through the Gaden tradition despite tremendous challenges has made her realise that the next logical step is to become ordained as she has the opportune conditions to study with her Guru. For Shin this is also a great step forward to being fully committed to the cause of others and repaying others’ kindness through sharing the Dharma with others.

Pastor Adeline Woon (sangha to be)

Since finding her spiritual home here in Kechara, Adeline has made dharma work her life’s mission and wishes to dedicate herself fully towards the benefit of others.

Adeline stumbled across His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche's blog towards the end of 2010 and has been following his blog and Facebook page ever since. Since graduating from Dharma Drum Buddhist College Taiwan with a Masters of Arts in Religious Studies in July 2012, she returned to Malaysia and joined Kechara as a Senior Education Executive. Adeline was attracted by His Eminence’s straightforwardness and impressed at Kechara's growth under his guidance. To Adeline, His Eminence is someone who walks the talk, keeps his promises and sincerely cares for others displaying an excellent example of guru devotion, qualities that she seeks to develop herself.

Since finding her spiritual home here in Kechara, Adeline has made dharma work her life’s mission. It was in May 2013 that she officially requested His Eminence for ordination as a nun to dedicate her life fully for the dharma. According to Adeline, become ordained means that she is being true to her calling to live according to the dharma and be of benefit to others.

This however can only be achieved by meeting and studying under her root Guru. Adeline has been fortunate enough to have met with hers - His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche.

Pastor Niral Patel (sangha to be)

It is Niral’s motivation for full ordination to better himself, learn the teachings of our lineage in order to preserve them for future generations. He wishes to benefit others, just as he has benefited and is still benefiting from Tsem Rinpoche’s explanation of the Dharma.

Niral was born and raised in the UK, having graduated with a BA in Anthropology, he was working as a Financial Administrator for a Serviced Apartment & Hotel company as well as a Management Services company before stumbling across His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s Youtube channel, entirelyby accident. It was through His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s teachings that he began to understand the importance of practicing the Dharma, in order to benefit himself and others around him.

Having been in contact with one of Tsem Rinpoche’s long time students in the UK, he was encouraged to visit Kechara in late 2012 for a 10 day visit. At the end of the visit Tsem Rinpoche requested Niral to come to work at Kechara, to which he agreed.

Niral moved to Malaysia in February 2013 to work as an education coordinator at Kechara House, assisting the Education Division in the creation and implementation of the new education syllabus, teaching teenagers during the Kechara Sunday Dharma School. Ever since meeting Tsem Rinpoche, he has always been encouraged by Tsem Rinpoche to do more Dharma work and strive to better himself. It is with that in mind, that Niral has requested monastic ordination.

Pastor Tan Gim Lee (sangha to be)

Gim Lee’s main focus is to guide and help anyone who steps through Kechara’s doors through Dharma sharing, counselling, performing pujas and other Buddhist services. She wishes to repay Rinpoche’s kindness by spreading Lama Tsongkhapa’s holy teachings and inspiring others on the spiritual path.

She discovered Kechara by chance in 2006 and started to participate Kechara's activities almost immediately especially the retreat to collect 10 million Migtsema recitations. In April 2006, when Gim Lee met H.E. Tsem Rinpoche and first listened to his teachings, she wept uncontrollably. Though she could not understand it at the time, she had finally found her perfect teacher. She is especially touched by Tsem Rinpoche's compassionate method of teaching by setting his own examples.

Having joined as a staff of Kechara House responsible for housekeeping in 2009, Gim Lee is now one of Kechara House's Front Desk Managers predominantly based in the retreat centre in Bentong, Pahang. She also teaches the Sunday Dharma Class and moderates Dharma discussions on Tsem Rinpoche's blog chat.

The many teachings she has received from Tsem Rinpoche have changed her priorities in life. She found answers to her questions about the purpose of life, and she has realised that the way to overcome the sufferings of pain and anger is by following the path of compassion and wisdom as taught by Lord Buddha. These realisations have led to her request to be ordained as a Sangha member.

As pastor now, and later as a Buddhist nun, Gim Lee's main focus is to guide and help anyone who steps through Kechara's doors through Dharma sharing, counselling, performing pujas and other Buddhist services. Pastor Loh Seng Piow (sangha to be)

Loh Seng Piow developed a strong wish to help Rinpoche in spreading the Dharma to the world. With that determination, Loh Seng Piow chose not to pursue his PhD degree in Cambridge University (for which he had been offered a place), resigned from his research job, and joined Tsem Rinpoche as full-time Dharma worker, and has never looked back since.

Back in 2001, Loh Seng Piow had no inkling of just how involved in Dharma he would become. As a Masters degree-holder in Engineering, Loh Seng Piow was working as a research engineer in Singapore when he met His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche. Rinpoche’s talk left a strong impression on him and after a few encounters with Rinpoche, Loh Seng Piow started developing websites for Rinpoche and Kechara.

Loh Seng Piow was trained in science, but soon realised that there were many questions that science could not answer. At the same time, he also felt that science and technology are not the solution to human problems, as humans are much better off compared to thousands years ago, yet the problems in this world are still the same, if not more, and we do not seem to be happier than our ancestors.

Loh Seng Piow soon realised that the Dharma is the ultimate solution to human problems, and that the methods used by His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche are very suitable for this modern era. Loh Seng Piow developed a strong wish to help Rinpoche in spreading the Dharma to the world. With that determination, Loh Seng Piow chose not to pursue his PhD degree in Cambridge University (for which he had been offered a place), resigned from his research job, and joined Tsem Rinpoche as full-time Dharma worker, and has never looked back since.

Meeting Rinpoche was a very refreshing experience for Loh Seng Piow, as he never knew Dharma could be so unconventional yet maintain its essence. As Rinpoche’s personal attendant, Loh Seng Piow has had many incredible moments with Rinpoche and considers himself extremely fortunate because he sees real Dharma in action, both on and off the throne. It challenges him to practice Dharma 24/7. In this way, Rinpoche has blown away his old and persistent way of thinking, which was very much focused on the outer rituals of Dharma.

Having seen that Tsem Rinpoche truly embodies what he teaches, Loh Seng Piow is convinced beyond doubt that it is possible to develop our minds to a higher state, and ultimately achieving enlightenment. All these factors have propelled Loh Seng Piow to take a step further in his Dharma career to become ordained as a pastor in order to be even more effective in sharing and disseminating the Dharma to benefit others.

Pastor Yek Yee

Naturally an introvert, Yek Yee has transformed what was once her weakness into her strength; making what was once impossible now eminently possible.

Independence was forced upon Kok Yek Yee from the tender age of nine, when she had to juggle between work and school to make ends meet. Always the introvert, Yek Yee had few friends and had difficulty expressing herself. So it was unexpected when she chose a career in journalism.

Yek Yee excelled as an award-winning reporter with Guang Ming Daily and Nanyang Siang Pau. Her articles garnered her a fanbase, and in writing, she found an outlet for the thoughts and feelings that she could not verbalise. However, despite her success, Yek Yee was not satisfied. Temporary happiness was not what she was looking for – success, money, relationships, or fame was not the key.

In her search for happiness, Yek Yee met H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, who told her “don’t retaliate with your speech, but use your power of writing to express yourself”. This led her to join Kechara Media & Publications as a writer; subsequently she was appointed Senior Editor as well as a Liaison to His Eminence.

Yek Yee now holds a core role in Kechara Care, giving advice, tours, counseling and teachings to whoever walks through their doors. Through courage and determination, she has transformed what was once her weakness into her strength; making what was once impossible now eminently possible.

As a Pastor, her patience and open-mindedness developed through her journey with Kechara will bring comfort and solace, and her new-found ability to nurture and teach others will bring hope to many.

Pastor Lanse Chiah

Having been a Pastor for a year, Lanse wishes to continue with her integral duties by renewing her vows again.

Lanse graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Jinan University in Guangzhou, China in 1999 and became a part-time lecturer for several years, teaching western medicine in a Traditional Chinese medical college in Kuala Lumpur.

For a long time, Lanse remained an atheist, subconsciously searching for a spiritual guru as she sought answers to questions she harboured in her mind, questions that had led her into a state of depression during her time at university. As such, she would often read philosophical books in her search for answers.

Lanse first came to know of Kechara in 2007, through her friend of over 10 years, Pastor Yek Yee. She was surprised to see a complete transformation in Pastor Yek Yee, whom she had always known as a non-spiritual person. The first book by Kechara that Lanse chanced upon was the Chinese version of Be Greedy. Naturally, Lanse was skeptical at first, thus she read the book in an attempt to find mistakes with the philosophy. However, she couldn’t find any and was left impressed by how logical the explanations in the book were.

In March 2009, Lanse joined Kechara Media & Publications (KMP) part-time to carry out Chinese translation and help with transcription. The following year, she contemplated upon whether to pursue a full-time medical or a Dharma career, finally deciding on the latter. Lanse came to realise that, although both careers share the same motivation of easing people’s sufferings, she felt that her work in Dharma could lead to a greater contribution for the sake of all sentient beings in a deeper, spiritual sense.

Having been a Pastor for a year, Lanse wishes to continue with her integral duties by renewing her vows again.

Pastor Han Nee

It was not until she witnessed how Rinpoche brought peace and comfort to her dying mother, that she realised she also wanted to touch others with the Dharma.

Lim Han Nee, a mother of two, is a retired secondary school principal. She retired in December 2000 after a 30-year career in education. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Education at Leicester University in the UK, at the end of 2001.

After gaining her master’s degree, Han Nee considered further options of embarking on a doctorate in education or spending her years in retirement, travelling and visiting family. At the same time, she was also in search of her spiritual path. She had begun exploring Theravadan and Chinese Mahayana Buddhism for answers to questions she had.

In December 2004, Han Nee attended a teaching retreat on the topic of the Lamrim and White Tara held by His Eminence Gelek Rinpoche. As the retreat proceeded, she found her questions were being answered. Then in June 2005, Han Nee was introduced to Kechara by her sister, where she met her spiritual guide, His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche, who has recently told her that she must go all the way in the Dharma for the benefit of others.

Han Nee had been a school guidance counsellor for nearly twenty years. However, it was not until she witnessed how Rinpoche brought peace and comfort to her dying mother, that she realised she also wanted to touch others with the Dharma.

A member of Kechara’s Puja Team, who conduct sponsored pujas in Shabten Khang, Han Nee is also a member of the Education Division with the portfolio of Content Development. Apart from this, Han Nee is also a member of the weekly Kechara Chat Time team.

Pastor David Lai

In 2014, with a sincere wish to benefit others, David decided to be ordained as a Buddhist pastor to continue serving the spiritual needs of the organisation.

David Lai has been a student of His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche for over a decade now and was one of the founding members of Kechara. He joined Kechara as a full time staff in 2005 and has been working in various departments beginning with the Kechara Paradise outlets.

Right from the beginning, David had been advised by His Eminence to go into writing. Overcoming various hurdles, David finally began his literary career with the publication of his first book and autobiography, There’s No Way But Up in 2009. The book charts his spiritual journey from his childhood and culminates in the meeting with His Eminence.

The positive feedback from this book led him to write various other publications like Vajrayogini and Other Power Places in Nepal – a pilgrim’s guide of Nepal, Tales My Lama Told Me – a book on short stories and Conversations in Love – a book on relationships. These books continue to inspire and bring people onto the Dharma.

Besides writing, David has found his passion in sharing the Dharma since his earlier days working in the Kechara Paradise outlets. Over the years, David has received innumerable teachings from His Eminence, ranging from public teachings to personal instructions and advice. He is known to passionately share these teachings whenever he can and to whomever he meets. In 2014, with a sincere wish to benefit others, David decided to be ordained as a Buddhist pastor to continue serving the spiritual needs of the organisation.

Pastor Henry Ooi

Born in 1952 in Penang, Henry moved to Kuala Lumpur in search of work after he finished his Form Five studies in 1969. He worked at different types of jobs and it was when he was jobless in 1997/8 that he met His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche at the house of his cousin, Ruby (now Dato’ Ruby Khong), when Rinpoche was giving a dharma teaching. At that teaching Henry was awed by how Rinpoche taught Dharma with simple yet profound explanations.

With the kind guidance, teachings and Dharma practices by Rinpoche including instruction to engage in their first spiritual retreat, Henry and his wife Angel started a small business that soon became profitable. A few years later after Kechara House Buddhist Association was founded, Rinpoche started to enrol students as liaisons and that was when Henry and Dato’ Ruby offered themselves. Later more students were elected as liaisons that saw the birth of Liaisons Council. The Liaisons Council is now known as the Board of Directors of which Henry is one of its members.

Currently Henry is the Project Director, overseeing the construction and completion of projects in the Kechara Forest Retreat. Prior to this appointment he was the Head of Department in Kechara Paradise retail outlets of which he served for about ten years. He still remains as its company director as well as director for most of the companies within Kechara. He served one term as vice president of Kechara House Buddhist Association from 2012 to 2103.

After following Rinpoche as a Dharma student for all these years, learning and practicing the Dharma, Henry knows the importance of the pastors’ role in Kechara founded by Rinpoche. He wants to become a pastor to serve Rinpoche, to serve Kechara, and to serve the public. As he aspires to be a monk as he grows older, being a pastor of Kechara will pave the way for his aspiration. Henry believes that as one gets older in life, one should have already prepared for the imminent, death. And what a beautiful death it will be, to die in Kechara Forest Retreat in a monk’s robes. This is the kind of death that Henry wants. But before the imminent death happens, Henry wants to continue working in Kechara Forest Retreat, serving the community and whoever comes into it in whatever way he can. And when he is not physically anymore to serve others, he will request instructions from Rinpoche to enter into retreats in Kechara Forest Retreat.

Pastor Patsy Gooi

All that Patsy wants now is to spend the rest of her life doing dharma work, dharma practices and being of benefit to others.

Formerly a full time housewife with plenty of free time, Patsy had the great fortune to visit Gaden Monastery and meet H.E. Tsem Rinpoche almost twenty years ago. That one week stay in the monastery changed her view of life. Prior to that, she had no spiritual inclinations but meeting Rinpoche stirred something inside her, and she realised that there was more to life than just eating, sleeping, shopping and having fun. Rinpoche’s approach to dharma was logical and practical but most importantly, he stressed that we should always focus out and work towards benefitting others. Rinpoche made dharma easy to understand and his advice was and still is, to “change inwardly, not outwardly.”

In 2009, after years of practicing and applying what she had learned from Rinpoche’s teachings, Patsy decided to set up a Kechara retail outlet in Penang to share the dharma with others. She knew that Rinpoche’s teachings were very applicable to the people of our time and that his activities would benefit others just as they had benefited her. She also wanted to repay the kindness of her Guru who had constantly helped and guided her. Today, Kechara Paradise Penang is not just a dharma shop but also organises puja sessions, animal liberation and dharma talks.

In 2010, again with Rinpoche’s blessings, Patsy set up the Kechara Soup Kitchen Activity Center in Penang. Saddened to see the plight of the homeless and urban poor on the streets, Patsy decided to practice “compassion through action” as taught by Rinpoche in the most active way she knows. Today, together with her team of volunteers, Patsy feeds the homeless and urban poor four times a week and provides basic food provisions to many hardcore poor families on a monthly basis.

All that Patsy wants now is to spend the rest of her life doing dharma work and dharma practices, and that she may be of benefit to others.

Pastor Albert Ratchaga

In 2008, Albert Ratchaga began working as a part timer in Kechara Paradise, but as he learned more about the works of Rinpoche and Kechara, Rinpoche’s kindness and compassion touched him deeply. He realised that his work gave his life more meaning and decided to join Kechara full time.

Through his work as a sales executive, Albert was able learn more Dharma from Rinpoche's teachings and use this wisdom to assist those who entered his store to overcome their problems, thus improving their lives.

Albert soon developed a deep wish to follow in Rinpoche’s footsteps and in 2016 was ordained as a Pastor to continue benefitting and serving others.

Many people in Taman Desa Jaya, Kepong have cheated for a long time DATUK YIP KUM FOOK has been deceiving people, from starting a furniture business in Taman Daya to becoming the chairperson of the MCA there, but the Malaysian government has not known of the matter.

Today he is very rich having many houses and shop lots all over Kepong but the government is still silent, now he has a court case, he is a lawyer and he made or signed a fake land title to someone.

A Chinese ghost marriage is a ceremony that unites a deceased person with a living or deceased person. The family of the deceased usually arranges the marriage. Despite its long history and unique practices, the original purposes of ghost marriages remain largely unknown. The ghost is a classical image in Chinese culture, have a history stretching back 3,000 years. This tradition dates back to the first Chinese dynasty, making it at least 2200 years old, while others even note that it’s roughly 3000 years old! Despite reports of it still being practiced in remote Chinese villages in China,Taiwan and certain Asian countries . Ghost marriages are acceptable and symbolic in especially in Taiwanese culture, with many social elements related to them. Interestingly enough Li Kim and team did a great research ,spoke to Professor Lin Mao-Hsien, a Taiwanese folklore scholar on these interesting tradition. Reading this article with a better understanding of the ghost marriages. The story of the man by the name Wu Wen-Da, who had been dreaming about a dead woman named Zheng Su Mei truly interesting.

The basis of the Buddha’s teaching is to be found in the Four Noble Truths. The Buddha teachings describe the nature of suffering and the path to its end. Suffering is unavoidable and affects everyone. Craving and ignorance lead to suffering. Whatever we do have consequences, so living in a way that minimizes harm can prevent future pain. Good to cultivate good qualities and abandoning non-virtuous thoughts and actions. Abandoning dishonest livelihood and living a life of right livelihood. Being kind and compassionate towards oneself and others. The Fourth Noble Truth is the truth of the Path that leads to the cessation of suffering.

Dorje Shugden is a protector in Tibetan Buddhism, originally a minor protector in the Sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism. Later adopted by the Gelug school. Has been worshipped throughout history by several schools of Tibetan Buddhism. As a wrathful manifestation of Manjushri, the Wisdom Buddha, who grants wisdom, clarity, and concentration. A protector who fulfils wishes and prayers, brings material resources,healing, and protects from harm to those who sincerely rely on. Also helps us to clear obstacles, and attracts opportunities for success, growth and in many ways. Many practitioners have benefited ultimately for helping them stay on the spiritual path. Rely on Dorje Shugden consistently over times, we will see his graceful yet powerful assistance in our lives. The prayers is indeed very powerful and have me change my life.

Asking questions is the first way to begin change. Knowledge shared is knowledge squared. A great way to learn by reading and asking various enlightened aspects of Tsongkapa. I am still learning even I have revisit this blog on and off. Still trying to remember names of great lamas.

Thangka serve as important teaching tools depicting the life of the Buddha, various influential lamas and other deities and bodhisattvas. Thangkas have also traditionally been used as a teaching tool. Tsem Rinpoche received a precious and beautiful gift of Vajrayogini from Ms. Wahyu. She have taken months and did researched and painted it beautifully. Looking at it is a blessing.

Born in 1905 in the village of Nangsang in the Kham province of eastern Tibet HH Kyabje Zong Rinpoche was a master of philosophical debate. He was a powerful Tantric practitioner, well known throughout the three great Gelug monasteries of central Tibet. Wow in an early stage of his childhood he performed various magical miracles such as able to invoke a female naga goddess in a nearby lake. A master of sutra and tantra, H H Kyabje Zong Rinpoche had performed countless holy deeds and gave thousands of Dharma teachings during his lifetime. A biography of a great Master who possessed an extraordinary memory and was renowned for healing activities. Zong Rinpoche was the Guru of many great masters. Interesting read of all the miraculous stories of Kyabje Zong Rinpoche.

Revisited this precious post again. Invaluable treasure indeed by just listening to the supreme path to enlightenment from HH Kyabje Zong Rinpoche an enlightened master. H H Kyabje Zong Rinpoche was a Gelug Lama and disciple of the third Trijang Rinpoche, junior tutor of the 14th Dalai Lama. A master of sutra and tantra whom was well known throughout the three great Gelug monasteries of central Tibet.

All thanks to our Guru that we are given a chance to get connected to the Sublime Queen, Vajra Yogini and collect merits along the way. The idea of making real gold-paint offerings to Vajra Yogini in KFR is indeed awesome for everyone. In Buddhism, symbolic offerings are made to the Triple Gem, giving rise to contemplative gratitude and inspiration. Making offerings to the Buddhas are acts of generosity and therefore highly meritorious.

ndia is a land of diverse cultures, traditions, and spiritual practices. They allow religious freedom among its most enigmatic and intriguing spiritual sects are the Aghoris, a group of ascetics who are often surrounded by mystery, fear, and fascination. But the Tibetan leadership creates religious differences leading to discrimination, violence, hatred and bias against Shugden practitioners. Everyone has their rights to choose and practice whatever they want. The ban of Dorje Shugden is therefore unnecessary and illogical . In recent years religious freedom has improves.
Interesting blog of a sect of ascetic sadhus who practice a unique and extreme form of Hinduism. They are the only surviving sect of the Kapalika tradition, a Tantric form of Shaivism originated in Medieval India. The Aghoris are a fascinating and mysterious group of Hindu ascetics, who have a distinct and radical approach to spirituality. They are known for their bizarre and unconventional rituals. They live in cremation grounds, smearing ashes on their bodies, using human skulls as utensils, and eating flesh from human corpses. Aghoris are Hindu devotees of Shiva the god of destruction and transformation, and they seek to attain liberation from the endless cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. They see themselves as healers, both of the body and the soul. Many believe that their intense penance and devotion give them extraordinary powers.They engage in practices that challenge conventional ideas of purity, such as meditating in cremation grounds, consuming what others deem inedible, and embracing what society often shuns.

Gyenze appears in the heavenly form help us gain resources through correct means. Gyenze’s practice can also increase our life span and healing. Many activities can be accomplished through Dorje Shugden Gyenze. It is indeed a wonderful practice and blessed as many activities can be accomplished through relying on it sincerely. Attracting positive energies and resources in our daily lives and also increases our inner and outer wealth. Gyenze has helped numerous people of all walks of life regardless of religion. Gyenze is a fully enlightened Buddha therefore he makes no conditions to help anyone who sincerely requests his assistance. Helping us in resources in order to have a better life and dharma practice. Gyenze’s practice can be done daily by anyone who wishes to cultivate the energies of increase and abundance in their lives.

Mat asked: Hello Pastor, Is it required transmission, empowerment or initiation to recite the Vajrapani's mantra ("Om Vajrapani Hum", "Om Vajrapani Hum Phat")? Thanks in advance.
pastor answered: Dear Mat, Thanks for your question. You do not need a transmission, empowerment or initiation to recite Vajrapani's mantra. Within the Gelug lineage as taught by Tsem Rinpoche the mantra is pronounced as "OM BENZAPANI HUNG". You can start reciting the mantra, no problem. In order to create to a strong connection with Vajrapani, you should recite the mantra daily with consistency. Vajrapani is considered the Buddha of Skillful Means or the embodiment of the power of the enlightened beings. His practice is excellent. Known as Chagna Dorje in Tibetan, Vajrapani’s name literally means “Holder of the Vajra”. He is wrathful, appearing in the form of a yaksha being. With his right leg bent and left outstretched, he stands in pratyalidha posture. He holds a golden five-pointed vajra in his right hand and with his left hand held in front of his heart, he makes a threatening gesture at our delusions and negative karma. Vajrapani is also known as the Lord of Secrets and he bestows practitioners with a special aptitude to practise Tantra. He is well-known to pacify inner and outer maras. Inner maras are delusions and the self-grasping mind while outer maras refer to malevolent spirits and obstructing beings. If you would like to pray to Vajrapani, or any deity, to create a closer connection with them and to benefit from their energies, it is advisable to set up a small shrine to them and make offerings daily, according to your means. pastor answered: Hi Bhavisha didi, Nice to see you back here. Can you share the video and the timestamp that Rinpoche said this? There must be a wider context in which Rinpoche said this. We can check properly and get back to you. In general however, I can think of a couple of reasons. The first is that in order to achieve complete enlightenment, we need to put in effort from our own side. It cannot be achieved solely on the reliance of a deity in the external sense. You must achieve the state of the deity through internalising the Dharma and transforming your mind through the teachings, developing Bodhicitta, etc. The second could be that in order to achieve enlightenment in the shortest time possible, one would need to rely on the practice of a Highest Yoga Tantric deity. In our lineage, we rely on Manjushri a lot, but in different forms. For example there is a saying in our lineage that our Guru is Manjushri (in the form of Lama Tsongkhapa), our Yidam is Manjushri (in the form of Manjushri or Yamantaka as a higher tantric deity), and our Protector is Manjushri (in the form of Dorje Shugden or Kalarupa). Manjushri is definitely important, so there should be a wider context in which Rinpoche was explaining that Manjushri helps 'temporarily.' Hope that helps and looking forward to your reply. Thanks.

pastor answered: Dear Naina, Thank you for your question. When engaged in prolonged practice, especially something like reaching a certain number of mantras over a period of time, we can definitely experience a lot of purification of karma. This is especially so when engaged in the practice of Vajrasattva or other specific purification practices. As you embark on this journey with your husband, please don't be afraid that your child will feel what you are feeling due to the purification. Here are some things that you can do to help: 1. Reduce the amount of mantras you are doing daily. Even though it will take a longer time to complete, it will make things more managable for you. When engaged in such long periods of practice, people think it is better to finish it as quickly as possible. This is true for people living a monastic lifestyle, but as a lay person, remember that you have other responsibilities. So take things slow. Slow and steady wins the race as they say. Doing too much will not make your practice stronger, but it will have an effect in other areas of your life. 2. Engage in Protector practice. One of the specific benefits of Dharma Protector practice is to reduce the effects of purification that you feel. You can engage in the practice or Dorje Shugden or any other enlightened Dharma protector that you feel an affinity for. This is mentioned specifically in scripture. 4. If the feeling of numbness or emotionlessness is too strong, you can also seek professional medical help for example by seeing a therapist. pastor answered: Dear Barbara, Karmic debt numbers represent aspects of yourself that you need to face and work on in this life. These aspects come from decisions and actions that you have made in previous lives that have an impact in this life for your spiritual growth. According to numerology, having a karmic debt number of "0" doesn't mean that you don't have any karma. It means that rather than having a specific karmically caused aspect that you need to deal with, you actually have to manifest your ability/potential for change in a positive direction. Find something that you are passionate about that helps others, and go all the way with it. For example, Mahatma Gandhi had a karmic debt number of "0" but he ended up being part of the freedom movement in India, which ultimately changed the course of the entire Indian sub-continent. From a Buddhist aspect, it could be explained as you having no overtly powerful habitual karmic aspect that has opened in this birth. For example, you don't have overly powerful habitual patterns of jealousy or lust. You do have these of course, but they are not so strong in shaping your actions as if you had another karmic debt number. For those people, they would really need to work on such emotions deeply in order to overcome negative situations in life. I hope this explanation helps.

pastor answered: Dear Bhavisha, Thank you for your question. Yes, mantras need to be recited out aloud, but it is very specific how loud they should be. You should not be chanting out very loud, like shouting. In fact, you should only be chanting loud enough so that you can hear the mantra, but if a person was standing near you, they would not be able to make out what you are saying. So when chanting mantras, you can even recite them as a whisper. I think chanting the mantra as a whisper may help in your situation, as you are doing domestic work. As long as there is sound created when you chant, then they will have an effect. This is in relation to personal practice. When in pujas or group practice mantras are supposed to be chanted loudly, however in personal practice mantras are always recited quietly. Mantras generally are not supposed to be chanted in the mind, they don't have an effect as there is no sound vibration created. There are only a handful of mantras that can be recited in the mind only, but those are restricted for some very high practices only. I hope this helps. thank you.

pastor answered: Dear Lhamu, Thanks for your message. In Tibetan Buddhism, we do not believe in God. By that I mean an all-supreme creator being who governs everything. We do have gods, but they are sentient beings like us, but they are not all-powerful beings. In Buddhism, we believe in reincarnation of the mind, so when we pass away, we are reborn in one of the different realms of existence. Then when we die in that life, we again take rebirth. This process is known as samsara or cyclic existence. The goal of Buddhists is to escape from this process because we are stuck inside it. When we get out of the process, we achieve Enlightenment. You can read some introductory books about Buddhism to understand what Buddhists believe. Thank you and I hope this helps.

On a side note, there are many Protectors invoked throughout the Serkym practice such as Six-Armed Mahakala, White Mahakala, Kalarupa, Palden Lhamo, Four-Armed Mahakala, Vaishravana, Begtse and other enlightened protectors. There are also specific verses to Setrap and his entourage, Kache Marpo and his entourage, Namkha Barzin, etc. So the serkym prayer to Dorje Shugden includes offerings to many different protectors to aid practitioners in their aims.

Om asked: Hello pastor, After a long time i am asking this question, hope you are doing well. Actually i am just a beginner to dharma practice, i do mantra recitations like mani, dolma and vajraguru mantras. After i complete 100 thousand recitations can i move on to next level. I used to do prostrations but had to discontinue as my parents got seriously ill. Now they are quite well and i want to continue my daily practices. I want to practice vajra satva along with the prostrations to clear my negative karma so that i would be reborn as a buddhist monk in next life. Thank you
pastor answered: Dear Om, Thank you for your question. In order to progress on the path towards enlightenment, it is very important to have a guru. Since you are already practising the Nyingma/Kagyu lineages, you should find a qualified guru to guide you in the path of practice according to those lineages. I hope this helps. Thank you.
