    Yes we will be having a series of pujas for Tsem Rinpoche’s Parnirvana this year also. All the pujas will be dedicated towards Rinpoche’s Swift Return, and generating merits and purifying our karma to make it so.

    Dear Karma Tashi,

    Yes it is possible to chant and practise the short mandala offering without completely offerings on your altar. The mandala offering is a visualised offering of the entire universe, so it doesn’t rely on specific offerings on your altar.

    However, it also depends on how you are practising the mandala offering. For example, it is usually practised in the context of a sadhana. That sadhana itself may require certain sets of offerings for the particular deity. So you would need to have those offerings related to the practice on you altar to engage in those specific prayers.

    Thank you for your message. We have not come across this prayer before, so thank you for sending us the link. I don’t have the authority to comment if it is safe to pray to Pehar Gyalpo Ku Nga or not. Generally speaking, he has definitely been relied on as a Dharma protector within our lineage and can be very beneficial for pracitioners. However, his practise, is always given and done under strict supervision of your guru, hence he is not a protector that is commonly practised.

    Hello Atom Seven,

    This actually depends on the system of astrology you are using. For example, the Chinese, Indian and Tibetan forms of astrology work solely from your date of birth. In fact in some forms of Indian and Tibetan astrology, your name is actually chosen from your astrology chart. So the most important thing for these forms of astrology is that date of birth, not the name.

    In other forms, for example Numerology, then yes, the name comes into play. I’m not that well versed in Numerology, so cannot help to answer from that side. But I think you would use the name that you go by now. The reason being, our names have a certain energy to shape us. That’s why sometimes in Tibetan Buddhism, we are actually advised to change our name when going through certain difficult situations. Of course it’s not just the change of name, but prayers, pujas, motivation, etc that really changes our life situations.

Hello I have a few questions, please answer them, and thank you in advance. In a recent video posted on Tsem Rinpoche's youtube account, Rinpoche says he "bought" his way into having a certificate that verifies him as being a genuine Rinpoche. Was he just joking around? I would like to know his creditials and validity. Besides that, I wanted to know the process of becoming a monk at Kechara. Can I immediately become one? Or is it a lengthy process. What questions would be asked in order for me to become a monk?

    Thank you for your question. Tsem Rinpoche often used to joke about this. Actually, this joke was Rinpoche’s way of being humble. Humility is a key to practice, especially within our Gelug tradition.

    Rinpoche was in fact recognised as a tulku by many high lamas and formally enthroned on May 31, 1990 at Gaden Shartse Monastery in South India.     Becoming a monk in Kechara is not an immediate process. Tsem Rinpoche was quite strict when it came to those who want to be ordained, as Rinpoche had seen many people take ordination and then give back their vows later on, because they decided that the ordained life was not for them. So, Rinpoche created a system of ‘Sangha-to-be’ Pastors in Kechara. These people aspire to be monks or nuns, and hold lay vows and have various duties within the organisation, as well as their own individual practice. They train to live like they are ordained so they understand what the life of a monk or nun actually is. After a couple of years, once they are ready, then they can apply to become ordained.

    Hello Niklas,

    If you happen to miss your prayers for a day or two, the next day just carry on with the prayers as normal. That is fine. If you are able and have the time, then you can do extra to make up for the days that you missed.

    Generally, it’s better to try and do the prayers daily, as it will have the most effect for your spiritual journey. In higher practices, if you miss a day in your prayers then you break a commitment, which acrues negative karma. Hence, Tsem Rinpoche advised that we get into the beneficial habit of doing our practice daily and to try and make it a priority. This creates the causes for the us to receive the higher practices later on.

    In relation to the visualisation during Kangshag, this is only done during the Kangshag prayer. Each prayer in Dorje Shugden’s practice has a particular visualisation associated with it, that is only done during that particular prayer. We have many resources available for you to learn these.

However, if you do not have the initiation, you do not visualise yourself as Black Manjushri. Instead you visualise Black Manjushri in front of you around the level of your eyes.

    Read the sadhana as it is written, without changing any of the words, but when you visualise, do so in front of you. Only those who have the initiation of a particular deity should visualise themselves as the deity. Doing so without having the initiation can cause issues with our spiritual journey, as we do not have the blessings, permission, etc.

    I hope all of this helps. Black Manjushri is an excellent practice with a multitude of benefits. If you would like to practice, the best would be to do so daily. You should set up a small altar to Black Manjushri, even if it’s just a printed out image. You can find multiple images of Black Manjushri on the page about the practice. If possible try to make offerings daily. This will help you create merit, necessary for our spiritual and secular aims to be fulfilled, and create a very strong connection with Black Manjushi. His practice is very beneficial.

Hello Pastors!
I have questions about:

I have seen some prayer books from various Gelugpa monasteries that in the part of Dharma Protectors daily puja.
Monasteries has combine alot of prayers frok various Dharmapalas such as Mahakala. Kalarupa, Palden Lhamo, Vaishravana, Dorje Shugden…etc and in the final part before dedication is Serkym.
I don't see any mantras of any Dharmapalas in this books that it's just contain prayers and serkym for Dharmapala practices path in the prayer books.
Could you explain for me how and why?
Does Begtse Chamsing is Wisdom Dharmapala or Wisdom Dharmapala in wordly form same lord Shugden?

    Dear Niklas,

    Thanks for your questions.

    Generally, in monastic gatherings and prayers, when it comes to protector pujas or at the end of other pujas when the protectors are invoked, there is usually one main protector that prayers are made to, but then other protectors are included. This is because these are general protector prayers either in relation to that specific puja or in relation to the protectors propitiated in monastery or lineage. Usually such practices may not include mantras, because they are general prayers invoking a group of protectors of their aid rather than a specific protector.

    However, even the pujas to specific protectors can and do include the prayers of other protectors as well. An exmaple of this is the long fulfilment (Kangsol) Puja to Dorje Shugden. In the serkym section of that puja, serkym is actually offered to other protectors such as Kalarupa, Palden Lhamo, Namtose, Six-Armed Mahakala, etc.

    The practices of, for example the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden, that you find on this website, or in our sadhana books, etc. are for personal daily practices. They are solely dedicated to that particular protector rather than being a general practice covering many different protectors, hence will definitely include the mantra of that particular protector.

    In regards to Begtse Chamsing, he is not Dorje Shugden, he is another protector. Begtse is the main Dharma Protector associated with the practice of the deity Hayagriva. You read more about him here:

    Wisdom Dharmapala is an epithet so even though it is applied to Dorje Shugden, it can be applied to other protectors as well. If you are refering to the nature of Begtse Chen, then he is an enlightened Dharma protector.

    Thanks for your message, it’s really nice to know that what we do is appreciated. It makes our effort worthwhile, so thank you.

    Don’t worry if you start crying during your Tara practice. There are different reasons why some people crying during their practices it could be due to their devotion to the particular deity, it could be that the practice is giving the person an emotional release, etc.

    Whatever it may be, don’t be disturbed. Tara practice is never harmful, it’s always beneficial, so even if at the time of crying you feel sad, don’t worry. Take it as Tara’s blessing that she is helping you to feel these emotions because they are actually buried deep in your mind. As you feel them during her practice, it means that you won’t need to feel them in every day life.

Hello Pastor,
I referred to guru rimpoche. As you have said to practice sengdongma. In fact couple of years ago i used to practice sengdongma and I started seeing something unnatural and I got too afraid so I discontinued. I saw fiercefull faces. After going through what you said I want to start again.
I would like to share my daily practices to you and please advise. In the morning I begin with offering seven bowls water, then serkem and burning of insence powder/sticks. Then I start tashi tshegpa, Chandra, then Om mani pemay hung 3 rounds of the rosary, then dolma prayer 3 times and guru rimpoche's Om ah hung benza guru…..3 rounds of rosary every day. Now I will add sengdongma also.
During 10, 15, 25, 30th of Buddhist calendar I do long prayer with offering of butter lamps.

    Thanks for your message. As you are doing the prayer try to include Sengdongma’s image on your altar, if you are able. Even if it is just a printed off image. You can find the images for printing here: https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/downloads/buddha-images.html there are a lot of images, so type in ‘Sengdongma’ into the filter images bar above the images, so you can find those one’s specifically.

    In addition to the water offerings, serkym and incense, try to make more offerings on the altar. The more merit you collect, the better able to the Buddhas are to hep you. This can be fruit, food, packaged food and drink (vegetarian), etc. Offer lights too. Even electric candles are good offerings.

    Develop more faith in the Buddhas, by learning more Dharma in general, for example by studying the Lamrim. As you progress more, contemplate what you have learned and implement. Sengdongma will surely bless you more and more when you yourself transform to become a better person.

    Unfortunately, within our lineage we don’t believe in online intiations, this is because at the time of initiation, the initiating master needs to plant certain blessings into your mindstream, and as the person receivcing the initiation, there are certain things that you need to do.

    In order to receive initiation also, you need to have trained under a guru who has taught you the foundations of Dharma, as set out in the Lamrim teachings. We have Lamrim classes in Kechara, but before that you need to have attended our Buddhism for Beginners course. I have one problems that i hope u can help me find out a way:
I have been Dorje Shugden practictioner for 7 years and I'm now into situation that I had applied Visa and wait to reunite with my partner from Europe for more than 2 years without any things happen yet.
Now, I have doubt, depression, stress, and lose hope with extra painful when the Visa Authority with their lazy and irresponsibility for our application.
I became angry, depression and start malevolence mind and swear with all my merits that one day, I'll revenge all of them and I'll be person will pay back what all kind of painful that they made for us and let they feel what we feel.
At the moment, I completely loss and empty that I knew Lord Dorje Shugden will not help me anymore that I had lost my Boddhicitta and I'll be reborn to revenge and revenge.
I nearly suicide and give up but in the second, I remember and write here with words that I scare will be the last.

    Dear Bhavisha,

    Thank you for your interesting question. In short, yes there is a difference. Either way, when we practise we still get benefit though.

    When practising without initiation, we call upon the energies of that deity to affect a change in our lives, through developing certain qualities or general spiritual development.

    Initiation plants a special blessing or energy in our mind stream so that we can generate ourselves as the deity we are practising and engage in their full practices, meditation etc. Without this type of blessing from the initiation, it is not possible to practise these deeper meditations. In fact if you try to practise the deeper meditations without the initiation, there can be negative consequences because you don’t have that blessing/energy in your mindstream. In addition, there are many more vows a person must take, sadhana commitments which cannot be broken, etc.

    However, there are practises that you can do without initiation. The majority of practices on this blog for example you can practise without intiation (unless there is a warning not to practise without the initiation). The prayers and practises in general shared by Tsem Rinpoche and Kechara fall under this category, so they are safe to be practised by anyone.

    Both the practices of Manjushri and Saraswati are excellent. Lama Tsongkhapa, the founder of our lineage, relied heavily on both these practises in his personal practice. They are very effective. I wish you luck, may you gain the blessings of both Manjushri and Saraswati and become close to them in your spiritual journey. Thank you.

How can i attain enlightenment in this lifetime?

    Dear Rojal Poudel,

    Thank you for your question. It’s a little too much to be able to explain in such a short reply, but in general there is no shortcut. You have to put in the work, practice, mediation, mind transformation, etc.

    Within our tradition, the Lamrim teachings are the central path of practice for everyone, so it’s good to start there. But before you get to the Lamrim, you should already have a basic foundation of Buddhist practice, ideas, concepts, etc.

    Even the Lamrim however cannot lead you to enlightenment in this life alone, unless you practise extremely hard and generate a lot of merit and purify a lot of karma. That is why tantric practice is important. If practised well, you can achieve enlightenment in this very lifetime through the practice of tantra.

Meet the Pastors

Serving the community. Tirelessly

Combining the responsibilities of the ordained and the appearance of a layperson, pastors are the connection between the sangha and the everyday practitioner. They are ordinary people who have taken an extraordinary step in dedicating their lives towards sharing the Buddhist tradition. As laypeople holding vows, pastors will make the Dharma accessible to more people, giving them guidance and sharing knowledge. Pastor Chia (sangha to be)

As a pastor, Chia will dedicate his life to befitting others through spreading the works of Tsem Rinpoche and Dharma to many people, through the use of pujas, rituals, counseling and sharing of his knowledge.

Ordained as a Pastor in 2011, Chia Song Peng has had a rich and varied Dharma career. He has held a core position with the Kechara Paradise retail outlets, served as a personal attendant to Tsem Rinpoche, embarked on various pilgrimages and received initiations into higher yoga tantric practices. He is accomplished in many pujas and has a deep understanding of the Dharma.

As a pastor, Chia has dedicated his life to befitting others through spreading the works of Tsem Rinpoche and Dharma to many people, through the use of pujas, rituals, counseling and sharing of his knowledge.

When Chia first met Tsem Rinpoche, he was asked if he wanted to become a monk, however even though this was his aspiration he informed Tsem Rinpoche that he would do so at a later date. For Chia, as he has is already in the Dharma full-time, it would be best if he became ordained. Tsem Rinpoche has reminded Chia from time to time to work towards becoming a monk and he promised that he would do so in the future.

Kechara began from nothing to become a growing Dharma organisation with major projects such as Kechara Forest Retreat, so Chia thinks that this is the perfect time to become ordained as a monk. Recently Tsem Rinpoche asked Chia again if he would like to be ordained, this time Chia said yes.

Pastor Khong Jean Ai (sangha to be)

Jean Ai wishes to become a vessel that holds the teachings of Lama Tsongkhapa to benefit future generations, inspiring others to live by the Buddha’s teachings.

Jean Ai met His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche as a young child and through her parents' involvement with Kechara over the years, she has never known a life without His Eminence. Jean Ai was a regular volunteer of Tsem Ladrang during her childhood and teenage years. After graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Warwick in the UK and working at the London Probation Service, she returned to Kuala Lumpur to join Tsem Ladrang's e-division. There she managed kechara.com, responsible for the weekly Kechara e-newsletter, including content generation and editing. Since then she has joined His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s writing team, responsible for executing Rinpoche’s personal instructions and managing his correspondence.

Having visited a nunnery in India in 2004, Jean Ai remembers noticing how happy and purposeful everyone was. She had a feeling of familiarity and the sight of the robes comforted her. Immediately, Jean Ai messaged her mother who told her to ask Rinpoche’s advice. Rinpoche told her to complete her secular education so that when she taught the Dharma her words would carry the credibility and weight of a university degree, something she completed with the motivation that some day she wanted to become a nun.

Through her ordination as a nun, Jean Ai wishes to become a vessel that holds the teachings of Lama Tsongkhapa to benefit future generations, inspiring others to live by the Buddha’s teachings. Through this she hopes to repay the kindness of her parents and her Guru. Above all she wants to abide in a state free of suffering, and she wants this for others as well.

Pastor Shin Tan (sangha to be)

For Shin, this is a great step forward to being fully committed to the cause of others and repaying others’ kindness through sharing the Dharma with others.

Before joining Kechara, Shin worked as a lecturer and provider of content and e-learning content solutions for various start-ups. Whilst providing training to educators teaching students in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) at various colleges, she was invited to attend a Dharma talk given by His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche at Kechara House. This event rekindled her interest in Tibetan Buddhism, as she recalled the joy of accompanying her parents to teachings as a teenager.

Joining Kechara Media & Publications in 2006 as a volunteer, Shin assumed a full time position there as a Marketing Executive, with the aim of making His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s teachings available to more people around the world. Shin is now a member of the Tsem Ladrang Team, who takes care of His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s secular matters, enabling Rinpoche to focus on teaching the holy Dharma.

Shin states that when she decided to join Kechara full time, she had already decided to be of some benefit to others and spend the rest of her life doing only that. Working closely with His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche, seeing his tireless effort in helping others and spreading the Buddhadharma through the Gaden tradition despite tremendous challenges has made her realise that the next logical step is to become ordained as she has the opportune conditions to study with her Guru. For Shin this is also a great step forward to being fully committed to the cause of others and repaying others’ kindness through sharing the Dharma with others.

Pastor Adeline Woon (sangha to be)

Since finding her spiritual home here in Kechara, Adeline has made dharma work her life’s mission and wishes to dedicate herself fully towards the benefit of others.

Adeline stumbled across His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche's blog towards the end of 2010 and has been following his blog and Facebook page ever since. Since graduating from Dharma Drum Buddhist College Taiwan with a Masters of Arts in Religious Studies in July 2012, she returned to Malaysia and joined Kechara as a Senior Education Executive. Adeline was attracted by His Eminence’s straightforwardness and impressed at Kechara's growth under his guidance. To Adeline, His Eminence is someone who walks the talk, keeps his promises and sincerely cares for others displaying an excellent example of guru devotion, qualities that she seeks to develop herself.

Since finding her spiritual home here in Kechara, Adeline has made dharma work her life’s mission. It was in May 2013 that she officially requested His Eminence for ordination as a nun to dedicate her life fully for the dharma. According to Adeline, become ordained means that she is being true to her calling to live according to the dharma and be of benefit to others.

This however can only be achieved by meeting and studying under her root Guru. Adeline has been fortunate enough to have met with hers - His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche.

Pastor Niral Patel (sangha to be)

It is Niral’s motivation for full ordination to better himself, learn the teachings of our lineage in order to preserve them for future generations. He wishes to benefit others, just as he has benefited and is still benefiting from Tsem Rinpoche’s explanation of the Dharma.

Niral was born and raised in the UK, having graduated with a BA in Anthropology, he was working as a Financial Administrator for a Serviced Apartment & Hotel company as well as a Management Services company before stumbling across His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s Youtube channel, entirelyby accident. It was through His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s teachings that he began to understand the importance of practicing the Dharma, in order to benefit himself and others around him.

Having been in contact with one of Tsem Rinpoche’s long time students in the UK, he was encouraged to visit Kechara in late 2012 for a 10 day visit. At the end of the visit Tsem Rinpoche requested Niral to come to work at Kechara, to which he agreed.

Niral moved to Malaysia in February 2013 to work as an education coordinator at Kechara House, assisting the Education Division in the creation and implementation of the new education syllabus, teaching teenagers during the Kechara Sunday Dharma School. Ever since meeting Tsem Rinpoche, he has always been encouraged by Tsem Rinpoche to do more Dharma work and strive to better himself. It is with that in mind, that Niral has requested monastic ordination.

It is Niral’s motivation for full ordination to better himself, learn the teachings of our lineage in order to preserve them for future generations. He wishes to benefit others, just as he has benefited and is still benefiting from Tsem Rinpoche’s explanation of the Dharma.

Pastor Tan Gim Lee (sangha to be)

Gim Lee’s main focus is to guide and help anyone who steps through Kechara’s doors through Dharma sharing, counselling, performing pujas and other Buddhist services. She wishes to repay Rinpoche’s kindness by spreading Lama Tsongkhapa’s holy teachings and inspiring others on the spiritual path.

She discovered Kechara by chance in 2006 and started to participate Kechara's activities almost immediately especially the retreat to collect 10 million Migtsema recitations. In April 2006, when Gim Lee met H.E. Tsem Rinpoche and first listened to his teachings, she wept uncontrollably. Though she could not understand it at the time, she had finally found her perfect teacher. She is especially touched by Tsem Rinpoche's compassionate method of teaching by setting his own examples.

Having joined as a staff of Kechara House responsible for housekeeping in 2009, Gim Lee is now one of Kechara House's Front Desk Managers predominantly based in the retreat centre in Bentong, Pahang. She also teaches the Sunday Dharma Class and moderates Dharma discussions on Tsem Rinpoche's blog chat.

The many teachings she has received from Tsem Rinpoche have changed her priorities in life. She found answers to her questions about the purpose of life, and she has realised that the way to overcome the sufferings of pain and anger is by following the path of compassion and wisdom as taught by Lord Buddha. These realisations have led to her request to be ordained as a Sangha member.

As pastor now, and later as a Buddhist nun, Gim Lee's main focus is to guide and help anyone who steps through Kechara's doors through Dharma sharing, counselling, performing pujas and other Buddhist services. She wishes to repay Rinpoche's kindness by spreading Lama Tsongkhapa's holy teachings and inspiring others on the spiritual path.

Pastor Loh Seng Piow (sangha to be)

Loh Seng Piow developed a strong wish to help Rinpoche in spreading the Dharma to the world. With that determination, Loh Seng Piow chose not to pursue his PhD degree in Cambridge University (for which he had been offered a place), resigned from his research job, and joined Tsem Rinpoche as full-time Dharma worker, and has never looked back since.

Back in 2001, Loh Seng Piow had no inkling of just how involved in Dharma he would become. As a Masters degree-holder in Engineering, Loh Seng Piow was working as a research engineer in Singapore when he met His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche. Rinpoche’s talk left a strong impression on him and after a few encounters with Rinpoche, Loh Seng Piow started developing websites for Rinpoche and Kechara.

Loh Seng Piow was trained in science, but soon realised that there were many questions that science could not answer. At the same time, he also felt that science and technology are not the solution to human problems, as humans are much better off compared to thousands years ago, yet the problems in this world are still the same, if not more, and we do not seem to be happier than our ancestors.

Loh Seng Piow soon realised that the Dharma is the ultimate solution to human problems, and that the methods used by His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche are very suitable for this modern era. Loh Seng Piow developed a strong wish to help Rinpoche in spreading the Dharma to the world. With that determination, Loh Seng Piow chose not to pursue his PhD degree in Cambridge University (for which he had been offered a place), resigned from his research job, and joined Tsem Rinpoche as full-time Dharma worker, and has never looked back since.

Meeting Rinpoche was a very refreshing experience for Loh Seng Piow, as he never knew Dharma could be so unconventional yet maintain its essence. As Rinpoche’s personal attendant, Loh Seng Piow has had many incredible moments with Rinpoche and considers himself extremely fortunate because he sees real Dharma in action, both on and off the throne. It challenges him to practice Dharma 24/7. In this way, Rinpoche has blown away his old and persistent way of thinking, which was very much focused on the outer rituals of Dharma.

Having seen that Tsem Rinpoche truly embodies what he teaches, Loh Seng Piow is convinced beyond doubt that it is possible to develop our minds to a higher state, and ultimately achieving enlightenment. All these factors have propelled Loh Seng Piow to take a step further in his Dharma career to become ordained as a pastor in order to be even more effective in sharing and disseminating the Dharma to benefit others.

Pastor Yek Yee

Naturally an introvert, Yek Yee has transformed what was once her weakness into her strength; making what was once impossible now eminently possible.

Independence was forced upon Kok Yek Yee from the tender age of nine, when she had to juggle between work and school to make ends meet. Always the introvert, Yek Yee had few friends and had difficulty expressing herself. So it was unexpected when she chose a career in journalism.

Yek Yee excelled as an award-winning reporter with Guang Ming Daily and Nanyang Siang Pau. Her articles garnered her a fanbase, and in writing, she found an outlet for the thoughts and feelings that she could not verbalise. However, despite her success, Yek Yee was not satisfied. Temporary happiness was not what she was looking for – success, money, relationships, or fame was not the key.

In her search for happiness, Yek Yee met H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, who told her “don’t retaliate with your speech, but use your power of writing to express yourself”. This led her to join Kechara Media & Publications as a writer; subsequently she was appointed Senior Editor as well as a Liaison to His Eminence.

Yek Yee now holds a core role in Kechara Care, giving advice, tours, counseling and teachings to whoever walks through their doors. Through courage and determination, she has transformed what was once her weakness into her strength; making what was once impossible now eminently possible.

As a Pastor, her patience and open-mindedness developed through her journey with Kechara will bring comfort and solace, and her new-found ability to nurture and teach others will bring hope to many.

Pastor Lanse Chiah

Having been a Pastor for a year, Lanse wishes to continue with her integral duties by renewing her vows again.

Lanse graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Jinan University in Guangzhou, China in 1999 and became a part-time lecturer for several years, teaching western medicine in a Traditional Chinese medical college in Kuala Lumpur.

For a long time, Lanse remained an atheist, subconsciously searching for a spiritual guru as she sought answers to questions she harboured in her mind, questions that had led her into a state of depression during her time at university. As such, she would often read philosophical books in her search for answers.

Lanse first came to know of Kechara in 2007, through her friend of over 10 years, Pastor Yek Yee. She was surprised to see a complete transformation in Pastor Yek Yee, whom she had always known as a non-spiritual person. The first book by Kechara that Lanse chanced upon was the Chinese version of Be Greedy. Naturally, Lanse was skeptical at first, thus she read the book in an attempt to find mistakes with the philosophy. However, she couldn’t find any and was left impressed by how logical the explanations in the book were.

In March 2009, Lanse joined Kechara Media & Publications (KMP) part-time to carry out Chinese translation and help with transcription. The following year, she contemplated upon whether to pursue a full-time medical or a Dharma career, finally deciding on the latter. Lanse came to realise that, although both careers share the same motivation of easing people’s sufferings, she felt that her work in Dharma could lead to a greater contribution for the sake of all sentient beings in a deeper, spiritual sense.

Having been a Pastor for a year, Lanse wishes to continue with her integral duties by renewing her vows again.

Pastor Han Nee

It was not until she witnessed how Rinpoche brought peace and comfort to her dying mother, that she realised she also wanted to touch others with the Dharma.

Lim Han Nee, a mother of two, is a retired secondary school principal. She retired in December 2000 after a 30-year career in education. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Education at Leicester University in the UK, at the end of 2001.

After gaining her master’s degree, Han Nee considered further options of embarking on a doctorate in education or spending her years in retirement, travelling and visiting family. At the same time, she was also in search of her spiritual path. She had begun exploring Theravadan and Chinese Mahayana Buddhism for answers to questions she had.

In December 2004, Han Nee attended a teaching retreat on the topic of the Lamrim and White Tara held by His Eminence Gelek Rinpoche. As the retreat proceeded, she found her questions were being answered. Then in June 2005, Han Nee was introduced to Kechara by her sister, where she met her spiritual guide, His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche, who has recently told her that she must go all the way in the Dharma for the benefit of others.

Han Nee had been a school guidance counsellor for nearly twenty years. However, it was not until she witnessed how Rinpoche brought peace and comfort to her dying mother, that she realised she also wanted to touch others with the Dharma.

A member of Kechara’s Puja Team, who conduct sponsored pujas in Shabten Khang, Han Nee is also a member of the Education Division with the portfolio of Content Development. Apart from this, Han Nee is also a member of the weekly Kechara Chat Time team.

Pastor David Lai

In 2014, with a sincere wish to benefit others, David decided to be ordained as a Buddhist pastor to continue serving the spiritual needs of the organisation.

David Lai has been a student of His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche for over a decade now and was one of the founding members of Kechara. He joined Kechara as a full time staff in 2005 and has been working in various departments beginning with the Kechara Paradise outlets.

Right from the beginning, David had been advised by His Eminence to go into writing. Overcoming various hurdles, David finally began his literary career with the publication of his first book and autobiography, There’s No Way But Up in 2009. The book charts his spiritual journey from his childhood and culminates in the meeting with His Eminence.

The positive feedback from this book led him to write various other publications like Vajrayogini and Other Power Places in Nepal – a pilgrim’s guide of Nepal, Tales My Lama Told Me – a book on short stories and Conversations in Love – a book on relationships. These books continue to inspire and bring people onto the Dharma.

Besides writing, David has found his passion in sharing the Dharma since his earlier days working in the Kechara Paradise outlets. Over the years, David has received innumerable teachings from His Eminence, ranging from public teachings to personal instructions and advice. He is known to passionately share these teachings whenever he can and to whomever he meets. In 2014, with a sincere wish to benefit others, David decided to be ordained as a Buddhist pastor to continue serving the spiritual needs of the organisation.

Pastor Henry Ooi

After following Rinpoche as a Dharma student for all these years, learning and practicing the Dharma, Henry knows the importance of the pastors’ role in Kechara founded by Rinpoche. He wants to become a pastor to serve Rinpoche, to serve Kechara, and to serve the public.

Born in 1952 in Penang, Henry moved to Kuala Lumpur in search of work after he finished his Form Five studies in 1969. He worked at different types of jobs and it was when he was jobless in 1997/8 that he met His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche at the house of his cousin, Ruby (now Dato’ Ruby Khong), when Rinpoche was giving a dharma teaching. At that teaching Henry was awed by how Rinpoche taught Dharma with simple yet profound explanations.

With the kind guidance, teachings and Dharma practices by Rinpoche including instruction to engage in their first spiritual retreat, Henry and his wife Angel started a small business that soon became profitable. A few years later after Kechara House Buddhist Association was founded, Rinpoche started to enrol students as liaisons and that was when Henry and Dato’ Ruby offered themselves. Later more students were elected as liaisons that saw the birth of Liaisons Council. The Liaisons Council is now known as the Board of Directors of which Henry is one of its members.

Currently Henry is the Project Director, overseeing the construction and completion of projects in the Kechara Forest Retreat. Prior to this appointment he was the Head of Department in Kechara Paradise retail outlets of which he served for about ten years. He still remains as its company director as well as director for most of the companies within Kechara. He served one term as vice president of Kechara House Buddhist Association from 2012 to 2103.

After following Rinpoche as a Dharma student for all these years, learning and practicing the Dharma, Henry knows the importance of the pastors’ role in Kechara founded by Rinpoche. He wants to become a pastor to serve Rinpoche, to serve Kechara, and to serve the public. As he aspires to be a monk as he grows older, being a pastor of Kechara will pave the way for his aspiration. Henry believes that as one gets older in life, one should have already prepared for the imminent, death. And what a beautiful death it will be, to die in Kechara Forest Retreat in a monk’s robes. This is the kind of death that Henry wants. But before the imminent death happens, Henry wants to continue working in Kechara Forest Retreat, serving the community and whoever comes into it in whatever way he can. And when he is not physically anymore to serve others, he will request instructions from Rinpoche to enter into retreats in Kechara Forest Retreat.

Pastor Patsy Gooi

All that Patsy wants now is to spend the rest of her life doing dharma work, dharma practices and being of benefit to others.

Formerly a full time housewife with plenty of free time, Patsy had the great fortune to visit Gaden Monastery and meet H.E. Tsem Rinpoche almost twenty years ago. That one week stay in the monastery changed her view of life. Prior to that, she had no spiritual inclinations but meeting Rinpoche stirred something inside her, and she realised that there was more to life than just eating, sleeping, shopping and having fun. Rinpoche’s approach to dharma was logical and practical but most importantly, he stressed that we should always focus out and work towards benefitting others. Rinpoche made dharma easy to understand and his advice was and still is, to “change inwardly, not outwardly.”

In 2009, after years of practicing and applying what she had learned from Rinpoche’s teachings, Patsy decided to set up a Kechara retail outlet in Penang to share the dharma with others. She knew that Rinpoche’s teachings were very applicable to the people of our time and that his activities would benefit others just as they had benefited her. She also wanted to repay the kindness of her Guru who had constantly helped and guided her. Today, Kechara Paradise Penang is not just a dharma shop but also organises puja sessions, animal liberation and dharma talks.

In 2010, again with Rinpoche’s blessings, Patsy set up the Kechara Soup Kitchen Activity Center in Penang. Saddened to see the plight of the homeless and urban poor on the streets, Patsy decided to practice “compassion through action” as taught by Rinpoche in the most active way she knows. Today, together with her team of volunteers, Patsy feeds the homeless and urban poor four times a week and provides basic food provisions to many hardcore poor families on a monthly basis.

All that Patsy wants now is to spend the rest of her life doing dharma work and dharma practices, and that she may be of benefit to others.

Pastor Albert Ratchaga

In 2008, Albert Ratchaga began working as a part timer in Kechara Paradise, but as he learned more about the works of Rinpoche and Kechara, Rinpoche’s kindness and compassion touched him deeply. He realised that his work gave his life more meaning and decided to join Kechara full time.

Through his work as a sales executive, Albert was able learn more Dharma from Rinpoche's teachings and use this wisdom to assist those who entered his store to overcome their problems, thus improving their lives.

Albert soon developed a deep wish to follow in Rinpoche’s footsteps and in 2016 was ordained as a Pastor to continue benefitting and serving others.

    Losar is the Tibetan New Year, a festival that marks the beginning of the year on the Tibetan calendar. It is celebrated among the Tibetan community all over the world recently. Losar marks the beginning of the Tibetan calendar year a time for family gatherings, religious ceremonies, and feasting because of its long history and rich cultural traditions. The celebrations will last for 15 days whereby the first three days being the most important day for them and widely celebrated festival on the Tibetan calendar. During theTibetan New Year, Panglung Oracles are known to enter a trance state, of the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. People often consult the Panglung oracles to receive predictions, advice, and blessings for the coming year. Dorje Shugden will also give teachings while in trance of an oracle.
    Reading this old blog again where back in 2022, the Great Protector Dorje Shugden gave an inportant message to everyone of us. We should take it seriously practising good virtues, such as prostrating ,making offerings and practise the holy Dharma. Everyone should always be kind-hearted and doing our best to cultivate loving-kindness, compassion and bodhicitta.

    Pemayangtse Monastery is a Buddhist monastery in Sikkim, India that is part of the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. It is one of the oldest and most famous monasteries in Sikkim. It is home to Dorje Shugden, a spirit in Tibetan tradition. The monastery is one of the oldest and most famous in Sikkim. Pemayangtse Monastery in Sikkim, founded by Lhatsun Namkha Jigme of the Nyingma tradition. One of the earliest modern academic references to Dorje Shugden. Stunning sculptures, paintings and ancient scrolls can be found in the Monastery. Interesting story behind this monastery,as described by Lieutenant Colonel Laurence Austine Waddell a British explorer, collector and author. Through the years of travelling in India, Sikkim and areas on the borders of Nepal and Tibet, after doing research on Tibetan Buddhist religious practices he made a stunning discovery. He discovered that Dorje Shugden existence in the Nyingma monastery as written in his book, which confirmed that Dorje Shugden been worshipped in the Nyingma as well . Not only worshipped in the Gelug lineage but held prominence in the Nyingma tradition too. Interesting read.

    Inspiring read, revisit again to refresh about an important lama. Venerable Geshe Thupten a Tibetan great scholars and master who founded Tibetan schools in exile. He who had upheld the lineage of Lord Buddha’s liberating teachings and his practice of Dorje Shugden. Even though in exile Geshe Thupten Lama worked tirelessly for the Tibetan government yet just because he did expressed his views openly, and bravely regarding banning the practice of Dorje Shugden. After serving the Tibetan government for so many years, Geshe Thupten Lama is threatened and branded a Chinese spy. He left to the USA and wrote The Supreme Path to the Trikaya where he commented detailed explanations on the practice of the Six Paramitas or the Six Perfections, and other beneficial Dharma treasures.

    Historically, the Panchen Lama was second only to the Dalai Lama in spiritual authority within the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism.
    The 10th Panchen Lama, believed to be an emanation of Amitabha himself. The 10th Panchen Lama saw auspicious signs after completing the prayer text or Sungbum to Dorje Shugden. He had strong feelings that Dorje Shugden has been working hard to protect the Buddha Dharma in general and especially the lineage of Lama Tsongkhapa . Like thousands of other great beings, the Panchen Lama had relied on Dorje Shugden, been practiced in his monastery, Tashi Lhunpo until his end. Hundreds thousands of people would his attend public discourses each time.

    Tales of supernatural creatures like Bigfoot, aliens, trolls, little people are always my reading interest. Came across this old blog about Dark Watchers so interesting.
    The Dark Watchers known by early Spanish settlers as Los Vigilantes Oscuros. Is a name given to a group of entities in California folklore purportedly seen observing travellers along the Santa Lucia Mountains. The earliest written accounts of the Dark Watchers date back to the 1700s, when Spanish colonists called them los vigilantes oscuros. According to Chumash folklore, the Dark Watchers are shadowy figures that stand atop the lofty heights, silently observing the land below. The Dark Watchers are mysterious, tall, shadowy figures that have been reported in California for centuries. They are often described as wearing cloaks and hats, and are said to appear around twilight. Whatever scary it looks we have Dorje Shugden to protect us. Even though there are spirits every where seen or not seen by our naked eyes we should leave them un disturb as it is. I do believe its existence every where day and night.

    Revisit this blog again and again as its such an interesting blog with awesome stories to share. All about a great Gelugpa lama . Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen was a scholar, an abbot, a Dharma teachers and he was also a healer. He was an important Gelugpa lama and a contemporary of the 5th Dalai Lama. Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen was the erudite high lama who arose as the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden, regarded as an emanation of the Wisdom Buddha Manjushri. During the era of the Great Fifth Dalai Lama, Dorje Shugden took rebirth in the form of a very special incarnate lama. Just imagine at the age of 2 or 3, he was already speaking and playing with ritual instruments and having clear visions of meditational deities and enlightened beings. Apparently, he had also received many direct visions of deities and exalted Gurus from a very young age. Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen and the 5th Dalai Lama shared a very respectful and close relationship. As results there’s jealousy among officers of 5th Dalai Lama resulting in the murder of Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen. As an apology to Dorje Shugden for the murder the 5th Dalai Lama crafted a statue and even composed an apologetic prayer. He also built a chapel Trode Khangsar dedicated to recognize Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen as a Dharma protector,Dorje Shugden in Lhasa.
    I have the opportunity to visit this Scared Trode Khangsar years back . Reading this blog always remind me of my trip.

    Buddhism is one of the recognized religions in Indonesia, with a long history in the country. The largest Buddhist temple in the world, Borobudur, is located in Central Java. Buddhism arrived in Indonesia in the sixth century. The history of Buddhism in Indonesia is closely related to the history of Hinduism. The Indonesian archipelago has, over the centuries, witnessed the rise and fall of powerful Buddhist empires. A number of Buddhist sites and artifacts related to Indonesia’s historical heritage can be found in Indonesia. As such the 8th century Borobudur mandala monument and Sewu temple in Central Java and numerous statues or inscriptions from the earlier history of Indonesian Hindu-Buddhist kingdoms. Interesting read. Many Buddhist sites, stupas, temples, and manuscripts were lost or forgotten with since the arrival of Islam. Once a year, thousands of Buddhists from Indonesia and neighboring countries flock to Borobudur to commemorate the national Waisak Day. The Borobudur Temple Compounds is one of the greatest Buddhist monuments in the world, and was built in the 8th and 9th centuries AD. The monument was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1991.

    The Lizard Man is a legendary, seven-foot-tall, red-eyed, scaly-skinned reptile that is said to live in the swamps of South Carolina. The legend of the Lizard Man has been around since 1988. The Lizard Man of Scape Ore Swamp ,also known as the Lizard Man of Lee County is an entity said to inhabit the swampland of the region. A large, green, lizard-like creature emerged from the shadows. Many others have claimed encounters with the legendary Lizard Man. The Lizard Man has been the subject of much publicity in the press, on the radio, television and even in movies. The lizard man myth brings curious travellers from across the globe into town, searching for the prehistoric beast lurking beneath the swamp. Ancient Historical Accounts of Lizard man sound interesting after reading it. I do believe in legends as there’s many unseen beings whereby is not seen by our naked eyes. Many others have claimed encounters with the legendary Lizard Man, leaving a mark on the small, agricultural town.

    Historically Langmu monastery was the center of local religion, culture, economy and politics. Langmu Monastery is one of the most popular wild destinations in Sichuan as it provides excellent travel experience in nomads Tibet.It is a group of monasteries built at the border of Sichuan and Gansu Province. Founded in 1748 AD Constructed in 1748, belongs to Tibetan Buddhism. After years of extension and development, the temple today is composed of ten affiliated temples . It is a destination for strenuous pilgrimages and fascinating . A river, Bailong River, separates the township into two parts, one part in Gansu and another one in Sichuan. Wow Langmu monastery is a place where one can experience both Tibetan Buddhism and Islamic culture. Langmu Monastery is one of the largest to practise Dorje Shugden. That’s wonderful Kechara did sent to Langmu Monastery 600 sets of Dorje Shugden collateral in the Tibetan language. The monastery also ordered from Kechara an entire set of statues of Dorje Shugden.

    Arjia Rinpoche is one of the most prominent Buddhist teachers and lamas to have left Tibet. He was recognized by 10th Panchen Lama as the 20th Arjia Danpei Gyaltsen, the reincarnation of Je Tsongkhapa’s father. He has trained with lineage teachers, such as the 14th Dalai Lama, the 10th Panchen Lama, and Gyayak Rinpoche. He had received many sacred teachings and ritual instructions from these great lamas. He was forced to leave his monastery and attend a Chinese school, yet secretly continued to practice and study with his tutors during the Cultural Revolution . Arjia Rinpoche went into exile and escaped to the United established a Buddhist Center for Compassion and Wisdom. Throughout his life, Arjia Rinpoche was tutored by specialized teachers in the area of Buddhist philosophy, sutra and tantra teachings, as well as in Buddhist art and architectural design.Since then Rinpoche has been giving teachings throughout the United States, Canada, Taiwan, India and Guatemala.
    For the sake of harmony and unity of the Tibetans , Rinpoche has advised the Tibetans to stop discriminating against Dorje Shugden practitioners. Arjia Rinpoche’s message of peaceful is consistent with the spirit of Buddhism and even spirituality in general. The ban against Dorje Shugden was imposed in 1996 and since that time, the has cause sufferings among the Tibetans in exile. No one should be discriminated against due to their religion or spiritual path. Dorje Shugden people, should be allowed choice of religion and be involved in the preservation of the Tibetan culture.It was during the 10th Panchen Lama’s Maha-Parinirvana 30th Anniversary, Arjia Rinpoche spoke bravely on fulfilling the Panchen Lama’s wishes.

Is a major religion in the world, originated in India in the 5th century BCE and is based on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, also known as the Buddha. Buddhists believe that life is a cycle of suffering and rebirth. Having priests and pastors in each centers or place of worships or retreat centers around the world serving and spreading Buddha teachings with more and more people get to know more knowledge of Buddhism. Reading this blog , given me a more understanding of the role of Pastors or known as Priest in some parts of the world. There’s many Buddhist Priest around the world serving others leading services , performing ceremonies and rituals. Many people have benefited, having Pastors or Priests around helping them out with their teaching, and providing spiritual support. That’s awesome. Here at Kechara we too having Pastors making Buddha’s wisdom accessible to more people by giving spiritual guidance and sharing knowledge. In this way, the Dharma is preserved and made available to busy spiritual seekers.     Compassion is always in season. Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet. Until he extends the circle of compassion to all living things. Animals have moral status, and animal suffering matters. No need to explain more as different people have different view. A far away quiet environment can offer numerous benefits for one’s well-being and overall quality of life. Living a calm and simple life yet rich with inner meaning, personal growth, and a deep connection to oneself, one’s values . Those moment of quietness, free from the rush and noise of daily life, allows for self-reflection and a deeper understanding of our actions and their impacts. By taking a softer approach to living, we can focus more on our internal happiness, building our emotional health.
    Since learning Dharma and putting into practice have taught me to live simplicity free from the rush and noise of daily life.

    The act of liberating animals helps us to develop the nature of not harming others, creating the awareness of not eating animals for the sake of attachment to meat and thus promoting a vegetarian lifestyle. When one releasing lives brings blessings to the whole family, a multitude releasing lives brings divine protection. Among all merits, releasing lives is indeed supreme. Beyond financial generosity , we also practice the generosity of Dharma and the generosity of fearlessness. Releasing lives embodies all three types of giving in one noble act which we should make use of the opportunity to do more. The merits of animals liberation are truly unparalleled.
    Reading this article by Daily Mail Reporter where a group of Tibetan Buddhists released 534 live lobsters into the Atlantic Sea. Rejoice Geshe Tenley and a group of Tibetan Buddhists releasing them one by one to freedom into the deep water.

My Dharma boy (left) and Oser girl loves to laze around on the veranda in the mornings. They enjoy all the trees, grass and relaxing under the hot sun. Sunbathing is a favorite daily activity.
