I've stopped eating meat since one year ago because of all the information you posted on your blog. I do 3 rounds of Migtseymas on my rosary a day. I've also influenced two other friends from the their Church to start reading your blog and they didn't realize Buddhism is so deep. They understand more now and feel more tolerant of other faiths. They are contemplating cutting out meat for ethical reasons too. Thank you for all you do. Please never stop. You groove, your cool and your blessings hit us from our computer screens. You are a great ambassador of Buddha.

Why wont the Buddhas or Bodhisattvas do some divine intervention to stop all the cruelty that is happening in the world?
If only their presence are made known and miracles are done, wont people stop fighting in the name of religion and embrace Buddhism?
Zionist are slaughtering people in large scale now in Palestine, why is this allowed to continue? why doesn't the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas and Dharma protectors came to help when no humans wish to help their own kind? why wont Buddhas make their presence known and stop the war?

Dear A.William,
You have brought up a very powerful question and one that is not easily answered. As much as the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas would like to miraculously stop wars and bloodshed immediately but miracles cannot stop the machination of karma. The law of cause and effect cannot be undone by the Buddha. The Buddha can only point the way with his teachings and he said this himself. It is through the teachings that provides a lasting solution to aggression and violence.

You must also remember that one needs to have the karma to be saved or assisted by the Buddha. You may think that the Buddha had remained in blissful indifference but the truth is that he and other similar beings like him have emanated into various great charismatic teachers and humanitarian figures. The Buddha does not need to be a Buddhist or appear in a form that we may be familiar but appear in a form that is in accordance to our karma to assist. The Buddha may appear as ordinary beings in order to save and assist people.

Hence, many great Buddhist masters who are popularly known as great emanations of Bodhisattvas like the Dalai Lama are actively meeting people, sharing teachings, spread the message of peace and also planting innumerable powerful ‘karmic seeds’ into everyone (whether we realize it or not) he meets so these beings will eventually be able to be assisted by the Buddhas and Boddhisattvas. This may take many lifetimes but as long as the seed is planted, it will eventually come to maturity in a future lifetime that they may practice the Dharma, enter onto a spiritual path. Dearest Rinpoche, I had felt very bad energy in my house for a few months. My husband visited Thailand and when he visited some massage parlors. After this he acted different and strange. I kept feeling something was wrong and foreboding. Hard to describe. It could have been my imagination, but I am not one to imagine much. I read your article on protection from black magic and did the mantras assigned. I feel so much better now. Thank you for having so many free 'services' and advices available to us. You are truly a bodhisattva.

This quote I have founded on the Internet, regardless weather it is true or false quote from buddha, can you explain more a bit about this quote, espiecially the 1st sentence, what do it mean in a buddhist point of view? Long is the night to him who is awake???

This quote is from the Dhammapada, Chapter 5, Verse 60. The title of this Chapter is “Fools” or “The Childish Person”, i.e. someone who is not mature spiritually. The verse means that to those who do not know the Dharma, samsara (the round of birth and death) is long. The first line means the night is long for the person who is wide awake. There is a story behind this: Once King Prasenajit came to see the Buddha and told him that he felt that a particular night was long. Another person remarked that on the previous day he felt that the mile was long. The Buddha summed up by adding that samsara is long for those who are ignorant of the Dharma (the sublime truth).

On the previous question, what about purifying negative karma of the body such as sickness, do prostration towards the lam rim provide the same benefits as the statue? Because base on one of tsem rinpoche video I have recall that lam rim are more powerful ( erm more respectable so to speak lack of vocabulary) than a statue because it provide dharma knowledge meanwhile a statue cannot.

When we prostrate, we prostrate to the Three Jewels (the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha) because they are the objects of refuge and spiritual support. When we take refuge, one of the refuge commitments is to regard any image (including statues) of a Buddha as an actual Buddha. Another refuge commitment is to regard all Dharma scriptures as the actual Dharma Jewel. The Dharma is the Buddha’s teachings. By making prostrations to the symbols of the Buddha’s body, speech and mind we will gain merits and purify our negative karma. The Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha have their good qualities and we must know the differences between them. The Lamrim is the essence of Buddha Shakyamuni’s teachings arranged for the step-by-step training of a disciple. It is said that the Dharma (Buddha’s speech) is the ultimate medicine for all. But protration alone to the lamrim is not enough. You must study it, understand the teachings and put them into practice.

Dear pastors, I would like to ask if I prostrate to the to the lamrim and the statue would it make any difference, and what are the benefits of prostrating? If there a difference of benefits?

When we prostrate to the lamrim, we are prostrating to the symbol of the enlightened speech of the Buddha. According to Pabongka Rinpoche in his lamrim text, “Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand”, the lamrim is to be regarded as the Dharma jewel.

The Buddha statue is the symbol of the enlightened body of the Buddha. According to H.E. Tsem Rinpoche, Buddha images represent the full enlightenment of a Buddha. The total omniscience and qualities of a Buddha is represented in any form of any Buddha (Chenresig, Tsongkhapa, Tara, etc.). When Buddhists prostrate to the Buddha and make offerings, they are paying respect to their master who has attained full enlightenment.

The benefit of physical prostration is that we will purify our negative karma and plant seeds of enlightenment in our consciousness that will be triggered open at a later date. You can read about the good qualities of the Buddha’s body and the Buddha’s speech in Pabongka Rinpoche’s “Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand” in the chapter on “Taking Refuge in the Three Jewels”.

Rinpoche, last time I was a Christian and the church always does not encourage questions and when they came across a question they cannot answer they always say it's the mysteries of God or we shouldn't question God's will. Why not since God supposedly gave us free will and a mind to think. I got disappointed in that. My husband and I both left Christianity. My mom and sister too. My sister found peace in Zen Buddhism. I found the Tibetan form of Buddhism suitable to me and really liked the fact questions are answered and I like the answers. I am very new to Buddhism but I found your AMAZING BLOG-Kudos.I am not ready to join a center yet having just left the church. But, I can see why Buddhism is growing so fast in the USA and Europe. My question to you is whether we are religious/Buddhist or not, karma works that same as it's universal and all pervasive correct? There is karma that affects all beings no matter our religious beliefs correct? Thanks ahead of time for your time and patience and works.

Dearest Rinpoche, is karma discrete or non-discrete? For example, if a "small" karma is created followed by a "larger" one the next day of the same type, will they arise together as one "big" one in the future or will they arise separately as one small and one larger?

Dear Choong, Good question. No two karma is exactly the same. So we can recite mantras by a lake and next day on our couch, the power of the benefits of the mantra ‘go to the same place’ but the karma will still be slightly different because other karmas have opened from the previous day. I live in Portugal in an area where there are no dharma centers, so my practice has been mostly what i can find online, meditation, prostrations and reciting homage to the three jewels.
Watching H.E. Tsem Rinpoche have been of great help in understanding, however I would like to ask if there is any practice a person like me could do daily.

I’m glad you have found H.E. Tsem Rinpoche’s teachings helpful. I suggest you learn and practise the Guru Yoga of Lama Tsongkhapa or Gaden Lhagyama, which is our main practice here in Kechara House. It is a simple practice that you can do daily to increase wisdom, compassion, memory and patience. It is easy for beginners to learn. This is the link:

Is it all buddhas can only come to human realm to show their final stage of enlightenment? Can they do it in heaven?

It is said that Buddhas appear in the world when the time is right to lead human beings to enlightenment. Conditions must be right for a Buddha to appear. We are living in the Fortunate Aeon in which one thousand Buddhas will come into existence in this world. Buddha Shakyamuni was the fourth Buddha to appear. The next Buddha will be Maitreya. Before his birth, Shakyamuni was lord of Tushita Heaven. There, he decided to be reborn for the last time to show the attainment of enlightenment to the world.

Before he took rebirth, the Bodhisattva had made the five investigations: the time, the place, the country, the family and the mother. He found that the southern continent, or Jambudvipa (i.e.India)where men lived for about 100 years, was the most suitable place. The relatively short life span and sufferings of old age and death are factors that make people understand impermanence and practice the Dharma. Therefore, the right time to preach to men is when their life span is not too long nor too short. The country was Majjhimadesa (the Middle district) where the Buddhas, great disciples and universal monarchs are born. Kapilavastu was in this district. The family had all the qualities. At the time, the warrior caste in India was most respected and the lineages of King Suddhodana and his queen were pure. The qualities of the mother, i.e. Queen Mahamaya were perfect. The parents were identified by the gods.

During his life on earth, the Buddha went through the twelve significant stages and practised the paramitas as a guide to enlightenment for all individuals.

In responding to a query if all Buddhas were humans before, the Pastor answered as follows:

Rinpoche did explain once that the Buddha at some point before he became enlightened, was just like us, having to go through the human experience and thus creating various forms of karmas. The karmas led him to go through countless rebirths encompassing all 6 realms of existences, of deva (god realm), asura (demi-god realm), human, animal, spirit and hell realms.

For the Buddha, it took him 3 aeons of practicing virtues that eventually took him to collect the necessary merit to traverse the finals stage as a bodhisattva prince who eventually became the Buddha that we know today."

From my understanding, an aeon (or kalpa) is around 16 million years long. According to science, modern humans are believed to originate about 200,000 years ago in the Middle Paleolithic period in southern Africa. How then can the Buddha exist and practiced as a human for 3 eons?

Some sources say that a kalpa or cosmic cycle is 336,000,000 years. According to Shakyamuni Buddha, a kalpa is longer than the amount of time it would take a cube of solid granite to be worn away by being stroked lightly with a piece of fine silk once every hundred years. In theory, kalpas succeed one another ad infinitum. Buddhists believe that the beginning of the universe and of life is inconceivable since they have no beginning nor end. We always talk in terms of “beginningless time”. So since beginningless time, we have had countless rebirths, and not as humans only.

Attaining Buddhahood is the hardest thing for a person to do. It takes innumerable births to purify oneself in order to become a Buddha. It took the Buddha three aeons of practice of self-discipline, effort and determination to purify his mind. If you read the Jataka tales, you will find that he had numerous previous births and in many of those births he sacrificed himself for the sake of others.

Dear Pastors,
I have photos of green tara , zambhala , mahakala etc on the bookshelf in my bed room which I collected from attending pujas mostly.
I thought of disposing them ( sorry to use the word ) for 2 reasons , fear of attracting uninvited soul and "inconveniences" in the bed room .
May I do so and what is the proper way so that I don't offend them ?

As far as we are concerned, images of the Buddhas and Dharma Protectors do not attract “uninvited souls” and “inconveniences”. They actually bless any beings who perceive the sacred form of the Buddhas and Protectors.

Anyway, I will spell out a few methods that may help you in handling excess of Buddha images. One can give them away to friends and family as a blessing or one can bundle it together to be placed inside large statues or stupas. Worse come to worse, one can burn these images and before one burns these images, one can visualize the Buddha and protector forms dissolved into 3 syllables of Om, Ah and Hum. Then the 3 syllables dissolved into the syllable Ah and the Ah, red in color dissolves into our throats. With that, we visualize that the images are now ’empty’ of these beings and we can proceed to burn.

I just want to know the origins of all the buddhas. I mean, were they humans like us before? Or are they creators of the world? I watched gautama buddha and he was a human before and now he is a buddha. I thought he is the only buddha but there are a lot. How is that? I want to know. Thank you so much.

Recently, a friend of mine told me that her sister, who is quite spiritual went to see a well-known nadi leaf master. The Nadi Leaf master told her that by right, she would have been dead by now as there is no further reading available on the Nadi Leaf for her. Needless to say, her sister is still very much alive.

May I know, from the Buddhist point of view, is this phenomenon a usual one?

In Buddhism, there are many methods to extend one’s life. It is believed that our lifespan is predetermined by karma. However, that karma can be altered based on the merits we accrued in relations to Buddhist long life practices.

One can engage in formal long life practices like Amitayus, White Tara, 16 Arhats, Yamantaka, Lama Tsongkhapa’s Gaden Lhagyama, etc etc. One can also extend one’s life through animal liberation, Dharma work and one of the most powerful ways to extend one’s life is when one receives monastic ordination or when one takes on the robes and becomes a monk or nun. Becoming a nun or monk is not a long life practice per se but it is so meritorious that it clears much negative karma and increases our merits, so much so that it extends our lives. The same goes for engaging in Dharma work. Therefore, the phenomenon you mentioned is not actually unusual. I hope this helps give insight to you about this.

Dear Rinpoche, I've been hesitant to put this here but I just moved home which is lovely, but I keep getting the strongest sense, of the deceptions of samsara. and the fact that although lovely, the situation could change, at any moment. I keep getting a sense about fire, whenever I go into the building, like a strong flag from my subconscious, or my own neuroses… obviously, if I've created the causes for this to happen, there's probably little that can be done, and that's fine. .but I just wondered, if you might have any advice, what is the best approach to take. or what it might be good to focus on, in whatever time it is, that I have left. As far as the collection of merits is concerned, there is no difference whether we recite the Twenty-One Praises to Tara in English, Sanskrit or Tibetan. The merits are the same. The advantage of reciting in English is that you will understand what you are reciting. But even if you don’t know Sanskrit or Tibetan, it is still very auspicious to recite the Praises in the original language in which they were written. There is also a poetic beauty that is not found in the translation in English. What you can do is, when you read the Sanskrit or Tibetan version, read the English translation first so that you will have an understanding of the meaning.

I keep on failing and started to lose hope in self transformation. I wanted to transform but keep failing, not to say that I afraid of failing but is time wasting, and I really do not have much time. I wanted to quit and escape but I do not have the option this is because the future of other people life and career is depending on me, if I quit I might destroy their life. I am stuck and have huge mental obstacle, I am confuse and do not know what to do and have the feeling of commit suicide. This negativity stop me in my education, my career, and my spiritual life. However, through my research I have found out by identifying how our ignorance manifest as thoughts can be an alternative method of transformation but do not know how to expand it and apply it in to my life due to my mental obstacle. My mind keep chasing after thoughts, drive me crazy. Please guide me with the dharma, increase my maturity to overcome this problem. Tq.

Ask yourself why you are in this situation. It is because you have created the karma to be in this situation and to have such experiences. So take responsibility and do not blame others for your failure. You have not described your negative thoughts and “mental obstacles” but most probably you are not facing the truth about yourself. Your description of your problems show how much you are focusing on yourself, your failures, suffering and wanting to “escape”. In other words, you want to be free from your suffering. Your emotional state makes you unhappy. But real freedom and happiness can only come from cherishing others, by giving your time, care, attention and love to them. It’s time to stop focusing on yourself and start developing love and compassion for your family, friends, colleagues and even people you don’t know. By doing so, you will find peace, stability and happiness. Happiness is a state of mind that is free from selfish emotions. Find a Buddhist centre and listen to Dharma teachings. Learn how to transform your mind in the correct way as taught by Lord Buddha and great masters. In this Blog, H.E. Tsem Rinpoche gives many teachings on how to practise the Dharma and to overcome difficulties in daily life. I suggest you read Rinpoche’s books, for example, “Peace”, “How I make Myself Unhappy” and “Be Happy”. An enlighten mind perceives suffering, they do not experience, hence how can we perceive? Besides, if I wanted to use focusing to build the good in within instead of eliminating the bad as a tool for perceiving suffering,can I? Can you explain the mindset in detail? It is because destroying the bad takes longer time and I do not have that much amount of time and often fail. Hence I would like to do the other way round where it uses passion instead of elimination as a tool for self transformation, and I do know perceives suffering has something to do with seeing things just as they are but I do not really understand what is meant seeing things just as they are, i know it has something to do with emptiness which means the perception of things are empty where the view of ours do not based on reality but it is still hard for me to find the mindset to apply in daily life. Hope that you you explain it more detail in a story telling mode, where a situation can be expose clearly at the same time I can gain wisdom to react towards difficulties. Dear Yup,

An enlightened mind perceives but does not experience suffering because it is not attached to happiness. Since it is not drawn to happiness, suffering cannot follow it. I’m afraid there is no short cut in the spiritual path. How can you “build the good in” without “eliminating the bad”? In Dharma practice, one talks often about replacing non-virtues with virtues. This is the way. How much time it takes depends on you. If you say you do not have time and “often fail”, this is because you are not putting in the effort. To understand the Dharma and to have realisations, we need to collect a lot of merits and at the same time, purify our negative karma. We have to do both until we achieve enlightenment.

To see things as they are or to realise emptiness, we need to have a great amount of merits and wisdom. So we must start accumulating merits and wisdom now by learning, meditating and practising the Dharma well and doing a lot of Dharma work. There is no short cut to enlightenment. There is a story about Milarepa who gave a final teaching to his heart disciple Gampopa by showing his calloused buttocks due to years of sitting meditation.

Dear Padma D, If it’s convenient, remove until it’s 108 beads. If not convenient, then leave it as it is. No problems there. It will not affect your practice and the blessings.

Combining the responsibilities of the ordained and the appearance of a layperson, pastors are the connection between the sangha and the everyday practitioner. They are ordinary people who have taken an extraordinary step in dedicating their lives towards sharing the Buddhist tradition. As laypeople holding vows, pastors will make the Dharma accessible to more people, giving them guidance and sharing knowledge. Pastor Chia (sangha to be)

As a pastor, Chia will dedicate his life to befitting others through spreading the works of Tsem Rinpoche and Dharma to many people, through the use of pujas, rituals, counseling and sharing of his knowledge.

Ordained as a Pastor in 2011, Chia Song Peng has had a rich and varied Dharma career. He has held a core position with the Kechara Paradise retail outlets, served as a personal attendant to Tsem Rinpoche, embarked on various pilgrimages and received initiations into higher yoga tantric practices. He is accomplished in many pujas and has a deep understanding of the Dharma.

As a pastor, Chia has dedicated his life to befitting others through spreading the works of Tsem Rinpoche and Dharma to many people, through the use of pujas, rituals, counseling and sharing of his knowledge.

When Chia first met Tsem Rinpoche, he was asked if he wanted to become a monk, however even though this was his aspiration he informed Tsem Rinpoche that he would do so at a later date. For Chia, as he has is already in the Dharma full-time, it would be best if he became ordained. Tsem Rinpoche has reminded Chia from time to time to work towards becoming a monk and he promised that he would do so in the future.

Kechara began from nothing to become a growing Dharma organisation with major projects such as Kechara Forest Retreat, so Chia thinks that this is the perfect time to become ordained as a monk. Recently Tsem Rinpoche asked Chia again if he would like to be ordained, this time Chia said yes.

Pastor Khong Jean Ai (sangha to be)

Jean Ai wishes to become a vessel that holds the teachings of Lama Tsongkhapa to benefit future generations, inspiring others to live by the Buddha’s teachings.

Jean Ai met His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche as a young child and through her parents' involvement with Kechara over the years, she has never known a life without His Eminence. Jean Ai was a regular volunteer of Tsem Ladrang during her childhood and teenage years. After graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Warwick in the UK and working at the London Probation Service, she returned to Kuala Lumpur to join Tsem Ladrang's e-division. There she managed kechara.com, responsible for the weekly Kechara e-newsletter, including content generation and editing. Since then she has joined His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s writing team, responsible for executing Rinpoche’s personal instructions and managing his correspondence.

Having visited a nunnery in India in 2004, Jean Ai remembers noticing how happy and purposeful everyone was. She had a feeling of familiarity and the sight of the robes comforted her. Immediately, Jean Ai messaged her mother who told her to ask Rinpoche’s advice. Rinpoche told her to complete her secular education so that when she taught the Dharma her words would carry the credibility and weight of a university degree, something she completed with the motivation that some day she wanted to become a nun.

Through her ordination as a nun, Jean Ai wishes to become a vessel that holds the teachings of Lama Tsongkhapa to benefit future generations, inspiring others to live by the Buddha’s teachings. Through this she hopes to repay the kindness of her parents and her Guru. Above all she wants to abide in a state free of suffering, and she wants this for others as well.

Pastor Shin Tan (sangha to be)

For Shin, this is a great step forward to being fully committed to the cause of others and repaying others’ kindness through sharing the Dharma with others.

Before joining Kechara, Shin worked as a lecturer and provider of content and e-learning content solutions for various start-ups. Whilst providing training to educators teaching students in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) at various colleges, she was invited to attend a Dharma talk given by His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche at Kechara House. This event rekindled her interest in Tibetan Buddhism, as she recalled the joy of accompanying her parents to teachings as a teenager.

Joining Kechara Media & Publications in 2006 as a volunteer, Shin assumed a full time position there as a Marketing Executive, with the aim of making His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s teachings available to more people around the world. Shin is now a member of the Tsem Ladrang Team, who takes care of His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s secular matters, enabling Rinpoche to focus on teaching the holy Dharma.

Shin states that when she decided to join Kechara full time, she had already decided to be of some benefit to others and spend the rest of her life doing only that. Working closely with His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche, seeing his tireless effort in helping others and spreading the Buddhadharma through the Gaden tradition despite tremendous challenges has made her realise that the next logical step is to become ordained as she has the opportune conditions to study with her Guru. For Shin this is also a great step forward to being fully committed to the cause of others and repaying others’ kindness through sharing the Dharma with others.

Pastor Adeline Woon (sangha to be)

Since finding her spiritual home here in Kechara, Adeline has made dharma work her life’s mission and wishes to dedicate herself fully towards the benefit of others.

Adeline stumbled across His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche's blog towards the end of 2010 and has been following his blog and Facebook page ever since. Since graduating from Dharma Drum Buddhist College Taiwan with a Masters of Arts in Religious Studies in July 2012, she returned to Malaysia and joined Kechara as a Senior Education Executive. Adeline was attracted by His Eminence’s straightforwardness and impressed at Kechara's growth under his guidance. To Adeline, His Eminence is someone who walks the talk, keeps his promises and sincerely cares for others displaying an excellent example of guru devotion, qualities that she seeks to develop herself.

Since finding her spiritual home here in Kechara, Adeline has made dharma work her life’s mission. It was in May 2013 that she officially requested His Eminence for ordination as a nun to dedicate her life fully for the dharma. According to Adeline, become ordained means that she is being true to her calling to live according to the dharma and be of benefit to others.

This however can only be achieved by meeting and studying under her root Guru. Adeline has been fortunate enough to have met with hers - His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche.

Pastor Niral Patel (sangha to be)

It is Niral’s motivation for full ordination to better himself, learn the teachings of our lineage in order to preserve them for future generations. He wishes to benefit others, just as he has benefited and is still benefiting from Tsem Rinpoche’s explanation of the Dharma.

Niral was born and raised in the UK, having graduated with a BA in Anthropology, he was working as a Financial Administrator for a Serviced Apartment & Hotel company as well as a Management Services company before stumbling across His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s Youtube channel, entirelyby accident. It was through His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s teachings that he began to understand the importance of practicing the Dharma, in order to benefit himself and others around him.

Having been in contact with one of Tsem Rinpoche’s long time students in the UK, he was encouraged to visit Kechara in late 2012 for a 10 day visit. At the end of the visit Tsem Rinpoche requested Niral to come to work at Kechara, to which he agreed.

Niral moved to Malaysia in February 2013 to work as an education coordinator at Kechara House, assisting the Education Division in the creation and implementation of the new education syllabus, teaching teenagers during the Kechara Sunday Dharma School. Ever since meeting Tsem Rinpoche, he has always been encouraged by Tsem Rinpoche to do more Dharma work and strive to better himself. It is with that in mind, that Niral has requested monastic ordination.

Pastor Tan Gim Lee (sangha to be)

Gim Lee’s main focus is to guide and help anyone who steps through Kechara’s doors through Dharma sharing, counselling, performing pujas and other Buddhist services. She wishes to repay Rinpoche’s kindness by spreading Lama Tsongkhapa’s holy teachings and inspiring others on the spiritual path.

She discovered Kechara by chance in 2006 and started to participate Kechara's activities almost immediately especially the retreat to collect 10 million Migtsema recitations. In April 2006, when Gim Lee met H.E. Tsem Rinpoche and first listened to his teachings, she wept uncontrollably. Though she could not understand it at the time, she had finally found her perfect teacher. She is especially touched by Tsem Rinpoche's compassionate method of teaching by setting his own examples.

Having joined as a staff of Kechara House responsible for housekeeping in 2009, Gim Lee is now one of Kechara House's Front Desk Managers predominantly based in the retreat centre in Bentong, Pahang. She also teaches the Sunday Dharma Class and moderates Dharma discussions on Tsem Rinpoche's blog chat.

The many teachings she has received from Tsem Rinpoche have changed her priorities in life. She found answers to her questions about the purpose of life, and she has realised that the way to overcome the sufferings of pain and anger is by following the path of compassion and wisdom as taught by Lord Buddha. These realisations have led to her request to be ordained as a Sangha member.

As pastor now, and later as a Buddhist nun, Gim Lee's main focus is to guide and help anyone who steps through Kechara's doors through Dharma sharing, counselling, performing pujas and other Buddhist services. Pastor Loh Seng Piow (sangha to be)

Loh Seng Piow developed a strong wish to help Rinpoche in spreading the Dharma to the world. With that determination, Loh Seng Piow chose not to pursue his PhD degree in Cambridge University (for which he had been offered a place), resigned from his research job, and joined Tsem Rinpoche as full-time Dharma worker, and has never looked back since.

Back in 2001, Loh Seng Piow had no inkling of just how involved in Dharma he would become. As a Masters degree-holder in Engineering, Loh Seng Piow was working as a research engineer in Singapore when he met His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche. Rinpoche’s talk left a strong impression on him and after a few encounters with Rinpoche, Loh Seng Piow started developing websites for Rinpoche and Kechara.

Loh Seng Piow was trained in science, but soon realised that there were many questions that science could not answer. At the same time, he also felt that science and technology are not the solution to human problems, as humans are much better off compared to thousands years ago, yet the problems in this world are still the same, if not more, and we do not seem to be happier than our ancestors.

Loh Seng Piow soon realised that the Dharma is the ultimate solution to human problems, and that the methods used by His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche are very suitable for this modern era. Loh Seng Piow developed a strong wish to help Rinpoche in spreading the Dharma to the world. With that determination, Loh Seng Piow chose not to pursue his PhD degree in Cambridge University (for which he had been offered a place), resigned from his research job, and joined Tsem Rinpoche as full-time Dharma worker, and has never looked back since.

Meeting Rinpoche was a very refreshing experience for Loh Seng Piow, as he never knew Dharma could be so unconventional yet maintain its essence. As Rinpoche’s personal attendant, Loh Seng Piow has had many incredible moments with Rinpoche and considers himself extremely fortunate because he sees real Dharma in action, both on and off the throne. It challenges him to practice Dharma 24/7. In this way, Rinpoche has blown away his old and persistent way of thinking, which was very much focused on the outer rituals of Dharma.

Having seen that Tsem Rinpoche truly embodies what he teaches, Loh Seng Piow is convinced beyond doubt that it is possible to develop our minds to a higher state, and ultimately achieving enlightenment. All these factors have propelled Loh Seng Piow to take a step further in his Dharma career to become ordained as a pastor in order to be even more effective in sharing and disseminating the Dharma to benefit others.

Pastor Yek Yee

Naturally an introvert, Yek Yee has transformed what was once her weakness into her strength; making what was once impossible now eminently possible.

Independence was forced upon Kok Yek Yee from the tender age of nine, when she had to juggle between work and school to make ends meet. Always the introvert, Yek Yee had few friends and had difficulty expressing herself. So it was unexpected when she chose a career in journalism.

Yek Yee excelled as an award-winning reporter with Guang Ming Daily and Nanyang Siang Pau. Her articles garnered her a fanbase, and in writing, she found an outlet for the thoughts and feelings that she could not verbalise. However, despite her success, Yek Yee was not satisfied. Temporary happiness was not what she was looking for – success, money, relationships, or fame was not the key.

In her search for happiness, Yek Yee met H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, who told her “don’t retaliate with your speech, but use your power of writing to express yourself”. This led her to join Kechara Media & Publications as a writer; subsequently she was appointed Senior Editor as well as a Liaison to His Eminence.

Yek Yee now holds a core role in Kechara Care, giving advice, tours, counseling and teachings to whoever walks through their doors. Through courage and determination, she has transformed what was once her weakness into her strength; making what was once impossible now eminently possible.

As a Pastor, her patience and open-mindedness developed through her journey with Kechara will bring comfort and solace, and her new-found ability to nurture and teach others will bring hope to many.

Pastor Lanse Chiah

Having been a Pastor for a year, Lanse wishes to continue with her integral duties by renewing her vows again.

Lanse graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Jinan University in Guangzhou, China in 1999 and became a part-time lecturer for several years, teaching western medicine in a Traditional Chinese medical college in Kuala Lumpur.

For a long time, Lanse remained an atheist, subconsciously searching for a spiritual guru as she sought answers to questions she harboured in her mind, questions that had led her into a state of depression during her time at university. As such, she would often read philosophical books in her search for answers.

Lanse first came to know of Kechara in 2007, through her friend of over 10 years, Pastor Yek Yee. She was surprised to see a complete transformation in Pastor Yek Yee, whom she had always known as a non-spiritual person. The first book by Kechara that Lanse chanced upon was the Chinese version of Be Greedy. Naturally, Lanse was skeptical at first, thus she read the book in an attempt to find mistakes with the philosophy. However, she couldn’t find any and was left impressed by how logical the explanations in the book were.

In March 2009, Lanse joined Kechara Media & Publications (KMP) part-time to carry out Chinese translation and help with transcription. The following year, she contemplated upon whether to pursue a full-time medical or a Dharma career, finally deciding on the latter. Lanse came to realise that, although both careers share the same motivation of easing people’s sufferings, she felt that her work in Dharma could lead to a greater contribution for the sake of all sentient beings in a deeper, spiritual sense.

Having been a Pastor for a year, Lanse wishes to continue with her integral duties by renewing her vows again.

Pastor Han Nee

It was not until she witnessed how Rinpoche brought peace and comfort to her dying mother, that she realised she also wanted to touch others with the Dharma.

Lim Han Nee, a mother of two, is a retired secondary school principal. She retired in December 2000 after a 30-year career in education. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Education at Leicester University in the UK, at the end of 2001.

After gaining her master’s degree, Han Nee considered further options of embarking on a doctorate in education or spending her years in retirement, travelling and visiting family. At the same time, she was also in search of her spiritual path. She had begun exploring Theravadan and Chinese Mahayana Buddhism for answers to questions she had.

In December 2004, Han Nee attended a teaching retreat on the topic of the Lamrim and White Tara held by His Eminence Gelek Rinpoche. As the retreat proceeded, she found her questions were being answered. Then in June 2005, Han Nee was introduced to Kechara by her sister, where she met her spiritual guide, His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche, who has recently told her that she must go all the way in the Dharma for the benefit of others.

Han Nee had been a school guidance counsellor for nearly twenty years. However, it was not until she witnessed how Rinpoche brought peace and comfort to her dying mother, that she realised she also wanted to touch others with the Dharma.

A member of Kechara’s Puja Team, who conduct sponsored pujas in Shabten Khang, Han Nee is also a member of the Education Division with the portfolio of Content Development. Apart from this, Han Nee is also a member of the weekly Kechara Chat Time team.

Pastor David Lai

In 2014, with a sincere wish to benefit others, David decided to be ordained as a Buddhist pastor to continue serving the spiritual needs of the organisation.

David Lai has been a student of His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche for over a decade now and was one of the founding members of Kechara. He joined Kechara as a full time staff in 2005 and has been working in various departments beginning with the Kechara Paradise outlets.

Right from the beginning, David had been advised by His Eminence to go into writing. Overcoming various hurdles, David finally began his literary career with the publication of his first book and autobiography, There’s No Way But Up in 2009. The book charts his spiritual journey from his childhood and culminates in the meeting with His Eminence.

The positive feedback from this book led him to write various other publications like Vajrayogini and Other Power Places in Nepal – a pilgrim’s guide of Nepal, Tales My Lama Told Me – a book on short stories and Conversations in Love – a book on relationships. These books continue to inspire and bring people onto the Dharma.

Besides writing, David has found his passion in sharing the Dharma since his earlier days working in the Kechara Paradise outlets. Over the years, David has received innumerable teachings from His Eminence, ranging from public teachings to personal instructions and advice. He is known to passionately share these teachings whenever he can and to whomever he meets. In 2014, with a sincere wish to benefit others, David decided to be ordained as a Buddhist pastor to continue serving the spiritual needs of the organisation.

Pastor Henry Ooi

Born in 1952 in Penang, Henry moved to Kuala Lumpur in search of work after he finished his Form Five studies in 1969. He worked at different types of jobs and it was when he was jobless in 1997/8 that he met His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche at the house of his cousin, Ruby (now Dato’ Ruby Khong), when Rinpoche was giving a dharma teaching. At that teaching Henry was awed by how Rinpoche taught Dharma with simple yet profound explanations.

With the kind guidance, teachings and Dharma practices by Rinpoche including instruction to engage in their first spiritual retreat, Henry and his wife Angel started a small business that soon became profitable. A few years later after Kechara House Buddhist Association was founded, Rinpoche started to enrol students as liaisons and that was when Henry and Dato’ Ruby offered themselves. Later more students were elected as liaisons that saw the birth of Liaisons Council. The Liaisons Council is now known as the Board of Directors of which Henry is one of its members.

Currently Henry is the Project Director, overseeing the construction and completion of projects in the Kechara Forest Retreat. Prior to this appointment he was the Head of Department in Kechara Paradise retail outlets of which he served for about ten years. He still remains as its company director as well as director for most of the companies within Kechara. He served one term as vice president of Kechara House Buddhist Association from 2012 to 2103.

After following Rinpoche as a Dharma student for all these years, learning and practicing the Dharma, Henry knows the importance of the pastors’ role in Kechara founded by Rinpoche. He wants to become a pastor to serve Rinpoche, to serve Kechara, and to serve the public. As he aspires to be a monk as he grows older, being a pastor of Kechara will pave the way for his aspiration. Henry believes that as one gets older in life, one should have already prepared for the imminent, death. And what a beautiful death it will be, to die in Kechara Forest Retreat in a monk’s robes. This is the kind of death that Henry wants. But before the imminent death happens, Henry wants to continue working in Kechara Forest Retreat, serving the community and whoever comes into it in whatever way he can. And when he is not physically anymore to serve others, he will request instructions from Rinpoche to enter into retreats in Kechara Forest Retreat.

Pastor Patsy Gooi

All that Patsy wants now is to spend the rest of her life doing dharma work, dharma practices and being of benefit to others.

Formerly a full time housewife with plenty of free time, Patsy had the great fortune to visit Gaden Monastery and meet H.E. Tsem Rinpoche almost twenty years ago. That one week stay in the monastery changed her view of life. Prior to that, she had no spiritual inclinations but meeting Rinpoche stirred something inside her, and she realised that there was more to life than just eating, sleeping, shopping and having fun. Rinpoche’s approach to dharma was logical and practical but most importantly, he stressed that we should always focus out and work towards benefitting others. Rinpoche made dharma easy to understand and his advice was and still is, to “change inwardly, not outwardly.”

In 2009, after years of practicing and applying what she had learned from Rinpoche’s teachings, Patsy decided to set up a Kechara retail outlet in Penang to share the dharma with others. She knew that Rinpoche’s teachings were very applicable to the people of our time and that his activities would benefit others just as they had benefited her. She also wanted to repay the kindness of her Guru who had constantly helped and guided her. Today, Kechara Paradise Penang is not just a dharma shop but also organises puja sessions, animal liberation and dharma talks.

In 2010, again with Rinpoche’s blessings, Patsy set up the Kechara Soup Kitchen Activity Center in Penang. Saddened to see the plight of the homeless and urban poor on the streets, Patsy decided to practice “compassion through action” as taught by Rinpoche in the most active way she knows. Today, together with her team of volunteers, Patsy feeds the homeless and urban poor four times a week and provides basic food provisions to many hardcore poor families on a monthly basis.

All that Patsy wants now is to spend the rest of her life doing dharma work and dharma practices, and that she may be of benefit to others.

Pastor Albert Ratchaga

In 2008, Albert Ratchaga began working as a part timer in Kechara Paradise, but as he learned more about the works of Rinpoche and Kechara, Rinpoche’s kindness and compassion touched him deeply. He realised that his work gave his life more meaning and decided to join Kechara full time.

Through his work as a sales executive, Albert was able learn more Dharma from Rinpoche's teachings and use this wisdom to assist those who entered his store to overcome their problems, thus improving their lives.

Albert soon developed a deep wish to follow in Rinpoche’s footsteps and in 2016 was ordained as a Pastor to continue benefitting and serving others.

Revisit this interesting truth where not many people knew the actual story behind . With great effort and research finally the story unfolded. In Tibet, Oracles play, an important part in principal roles assisting governmental decision-making and providing intelligence revelation, religion, doctrine, and prophecy. To this day the Tibetan government still believe and rely in Nechung Oracle. When Nechung oracle took trance, it is actually spirit Nyatrul who has causes problems and misprophecies. Nechung is bound by oath to protect the Dharma. Nechung prophecies are unreliable, most probably given by Nyatrul spirit to the Tibetan government. Such as wrong medication given to the 13 th Dalai Lama as prescribed by the Nechung Oracle. Another misprophecies was during the British invasion. If it was really Nechung who took trance of the Oracle, these types of misprophecies would not have happen. As mentioned in the 6th Dalai Lama biography, we cannot trust or rely on Nechung’s prophecies. It was said that Nyatrul not Nechung who created the problems and harm to Dorje Shugden . It must have told HH the Dalai Lama to ban Dorje Shugden .

In Tibetan Buddhism, water offerings, particularly the seven or eight bowls offering, are a common practice used to express gratitude, cultivate merit, and purify the mind. The seven bowls represent essential aspects of offerings and can be offered daily, along with other items like flowers, incense, and lamps. Water offerings are probably the most common offering made in Tibetan Buddhism. Offering any item of value to the three jewels is the antidote to greed and attachment and helps to cultivate generosity. It is a powerful practice that can help us develop positive qualities such as generosity, devotion, and selflessness. By making water offering, we are creating good karma for ourselves and all sentient beings in the future. Great explanations and teachings all about water offerings.

H.H. Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche (1878–1941), also known as Dechen Nyingpo Jampa Tenzin Trinlay Gyatso, was one of the great lamas of the twentieth century. was a highly influential teacher in Tibet and a prominent lama in the 20th century. He was the root guru of the present Dalai Lama’s tutors and many other Tibetan lamas who brought the Dharma to the West. His teachings, particularly his book “Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand,” are significant in the Gelugpa tradition until this days.He was the root guru of the present Dalai Lama’s tutors, Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, and a teacher to many other Gelug lamas who fled Tibet. He had brought the Dharma to the West after 1959. Rinpoche’s teachings are so famous that thousands of people would come from far and wide to attend. He was an extraordinary master for the Heruka Body Mandala and the Vajrayogini practice. Wow ……one of the many famous stories been told of how Heruka actually appeared to Pabongka when he visited Cimburi in Tibet and how Heruka image spoke to him. Wat Rong Khun better known as the White Temple, is a Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai province, Thailand. The gold symbolizes how people focus on worldly desires and money. The white building represents the idea to make merit and to focus on the mind. It is owned by a succesful Thai businessman who opened it to visitors in 1997. Awesome….This temple stands out through the white colour and use of pieces of glass that sparkle in the sun. The white colour signifies the purity of Buddha while the glass symbolizes Buddha’s wisdom. Located 3 hour drive from Chiang Mai built to honour and pay tribute to sacred Buddhist figures. Over time, temples grew in prominence and is one of the famous temples to visit in Thailand. I have visited years back its simple stunning temple which truly love the design and architecture .

Sak Yant, a traditional Thai tattooing practice, involves sacred geometrical and animal designs. Its often accompanied by Pali phrases, and is believed to offer power, protection, charisma, and other benefits to the wearer. Sak Yant tattoos are deeply rooted in Buddhist and spiritual beliefs, with each design and symbol carrying specific meanings and purported powers. Many designs are believed to provide protection against evil spirits, misfortune, and danger. Sak Yant tattoos are traditionally applied by monks or masters using a needle and ink, and the process is often accompanied by chants and blessings. I personally have not seen one yet . Sound interesting.

Jojo Struys is a travel and wellness personality, accredited yoga instructor, speaker and author. She visited Bangsar of Kechara outlet for a feature with Star Property. With her visit hopefully more people will get to know more of our Kechara . She had made a video with and Pastor David Lai all about Buddhist Arts. She openly admitted interested in Buddhist art . Buddhist art pieces have given her home a contemporary edge. Art was important to Buddhist religious life. It was not only part of ritual and worship but also served to transmit religious ideas, and artistic styles between cultures. n their theoretical model, rudeness has this impact on our ability to think because it engenders negative sadness, anger. Researchers have found that common negative behaviours can spread easily and have significant consequences. The best way to avoid rude people is to meet their acts of rudeness with kindness. Exposure to neurotoxins in society is not new. Children today are raised in an environment that is much different from those days. Nowadays they are exposed to behaviours, profane language, hostilities and stress from which we adults, raised a generation ago. Studies have shown that children exposed to serious psychological trauma during childhood are at risk of suffering increased psychiatric disorders. Interesting read.

Revisit this blog again . Reading comments in this blog Rich people have substantial assets and income, providing a sense of security and freedom from financial worries. Owning high-end cars, designer clothing and everything they want with their money. Rich people often have more time for leisure, hobbies, and travel, allowing them to pursue interests and experiences. They may live in large, luxurious homes and have or apartments, often in desirable locations and having personalized services. The fundamental difference in mindset between the rich and the poor is, the rich have understood a very simple principle money makes money. Rich people see money as an opportunity, while poor people see it as something to be earned. Poor people work hard for their money. It is the heart that makes a man rich. He is rich according to what he is, not according to what he has. Not he who has much is rich, but he who gives much. The primary difference between rich people and poor people is how they handle their wealth. My thought been rich in this world it is not what we take up, but what we give up, that makes us rich.

Found this old post …disturbing. Having a name especially a Bar linked to Buddha to be disrespectful towards Buddhism. After much controversy the owner had it removed. The Buddha Bar located in Sabah by a young owner which opened without much thought had many people complaining. Later was forced to have its controversial name changed to ‘Peacock Garden’ and had apologised for the controversial name. As a devout Buddhist, the name ‘Buddha Bar’ which serves alcohol, is disrespectful to the revered Buddha.

Siberia, considered the heartland of shamanism inhabited by many different ethnic groups, and many of its peoples observe shamanistic. Many of the indigenous communities reclaiming their traditional spiritual and healing practices . Interesting. Siberian shamanism is often called Tengerism, involves various rituals, including drumming, chanting, trance states, and offerings to nature spirits and ancestors. This religious practice has deep roots in Siberia and Central Asia in recent years with roots in the Turkic and Mongolic cultures. Many who have been live in a remote part of Russia, have preserved their shamanic traditions due to their isolation. Many customs of Tengrism are still been practiced where they emphasizes a deep respect for nature and its various spirits, including those of the earth, water, and mountains. They do believe in the continued existence of souls and the importance of honouring their ancestors.

Everyone of us has an unforgettable different experience, a different destination and itineraries. The journey to Shar Gaden Monastery back in 2019, making offerings to the sangha , by the Kecharians hold special moments and memories. They were on behalf of His Eminence the 25th Tsem Rinpoche and Kechara in making an offering to all 650 monks of the monastery. On this fruitful trip the Kecharians had the honour to catch a glimpse of the normally-covered holy statue of Dorje Shugden . Awesome this holy statue of Dorje Shugden was handmade by HH Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche and HH Kyabje Zong Rinpoche.The team was also granted an audience with H E Domo Geshe Chocktrul Rinpoche. Having the opportunity to make offerings to the monks was indeed meritorious. Rejoice to them. Looking at those beautiful pictures paints a thousands words. Thank you Rinpoche and team for this sharing. Merely looking at it is a blessing especially the Holy Statue of Dorje Shugden.

Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly. We can’t let our failures define us. Defeat is not the worst of failures. Not to have tried is the true failure. Success is never permanent, and failure is never final. Failure is another stepping stone to greatness .Sometimes just reminding ourselves of the temporality of failure enables us to forge ahead and stay focus looking forward . Failure isn’t something many of us can handle gracefully. And even though we know it’s a common human condition, figuring out how to stay motivated in the face of failure .

Finally HH Dalai Lama said we can practice Dorje Shugden. After all these years of deep frustration felt by the Tibetan people. They who lack religious freedom been denied and been exploited in all sectors of society. More than 60 years the Tibetan leadership has cause the sufferings of those in exile who had propitiate Dorje Shugden. Dalai Lama did reiterated although he recommended not worshipping Dorje Shugden as it is a personal choice and freedom. Interesting read.

Working in a private hospital before ,having witnessed many personal tragedies faced by the living and dying patients. Many of these poor people faced their death with fear, with misery and pain before departing this world. With the images of all these in my mind, on occasion feeling sad and grieve at times when those we have cared .But nonetheless we should recognise certain truths. All of us are going to leave this world at one time and leaving those we love. In the teaching of the Buddha, all of us will pass away eventually as a part in the natural process of birth, old-age and death and that we should always keep in mind the impermanence of life. Along the journey of life, we are reminded of our own inevitable ends in waiting and everything is a blip of transience and impermanent. Be responsible, good and positive for ourselves and towards others. This leads to calmness, happiness and an outlook which contributes to a calm and controlled mind at the time of death. We have to remind ourselves the importance of rebirth and taking time to prepare for their own demise before its too late.To cultivate the good karma, our good actions are an excellent way prepare for our death. Having lead a responsible and compassionate life and have no regrets when death approaches enables us to surrender without a struggle. The life that we all cherish and wish to hold on. We are doomed to the endless cycles of life and death, we should learn and practices Dharma teachings .We are given a chance in life and choice to determine our future, to determine where we will go for rebirth. Spend our time on earth wisely before its too late.

Danielle asked: Dear Pastors, My name is Danielle and I have been severely affected by black magic , evil spirits , demoniac harm and spiritual attacks as of late. Recently, I have been having trouble or difficulty in breathing and also digesting food. I have been to the doctors and they said that it was due to a high stress level and other factors which caused the issues but it was more than that. I had taken and swallowed so much medications that it felt ridiculous. I could not sleep at night either even though I tried to cut down my stress level and changed my lifestyle to a healthier one ; none seems to alleviate. I have been having constant indigestion, bloatedness and gas as well as migraines and headaches etc. I have tried traditional chinese medicines and indian ayurvedic medicines and none help. And as of late, I have been arguing non-stop with my family and partner which is not me. Apart from that , I have been ill and sick for a very long time. I am currently in a state of despair and do not know what to do. I have lost my will to find help , my health is really bad and I have been having nightmares as well as negative luck all this while. I have found this webpage and I sincerely hope the good pastors can guide and assist me through these trials and tribulations of my life.

pastor answered: Dear Edoardo, Yes the mantra of Kurukulle can be recited without initiation. Though if you want to engage in the full practice, it is best to consult a qualified spiritual teacher. That being said, you can definitely recite her mantra. You can even setup an altar to her and make offerings to her daily in order to create a close connection with her. Kurukulle performs magnetising and controlling activities to attract people, resources and circumstances for growth in all aspects of life. She removes obstacles, improves health and wisdom, and creates good conditions for Dharma practice. She is sometimes called the Female Buddha of Love, because she helps us develop the ability to influence others positively and achieve respect, love and support by improving our communication skills and relationships with family, friends, superiors and subordinates. Her mantra is OM KURU KULLE HRI SOHA. I hope this helps.

pastor answered: Dear Nanhwa, The teachings of the Six Munis are from the Guhyagarba Tantra and the Bardo Thodol scriptures. These are mainly practiced within the Nyingma traditions, rather than the Gelug tradition, which places more focus on other teachings and sets of tantra. The Six Munis are: 1. Buddha Indra Kaushika for the God Realms 2. Buddha Vemachitra for the Demi-God Realms 3. Buddha Shakyamuni for the Human Realm 4. Buddha Shravasingha for the Animal Realm 5. Buddha Jvalamukhadeva for the Hungry Ghost Realms 6. Buddha Dharmaraja for the Hell Realms All six are actually all manifestations of Buddha, to help the beings in those realms overcome the negative emotions that caused them to be born there, the prevailing delusions in those realms and their sufferings. While they do exist, emphasis in the Gelug tradition is placed on other Buddha figures and practices. As far as I am aware there are no common prayers or practices for them. Most notably within the Gelug tradition, they are sometimes depicted within the Wheel of Life diagram, helping sentient beings in their respective realms. If you would like to find prayers or practices to them, you would need to consult lamas or practitioners of the Nyingma tradition or purhaps the Kagyu tradition. I hope this helps. Thank you.

pastor answered: Dear Hainan, It is a little hard to give you a definite answer, as there are many times of protective diagrams and chakra diagrams. 1. Some are simply representations of the mantra of the deity - these you can print off and keep on your altar. If you want, then you can consecrate them as you would do the statue of a deity. You can find the procedure here: https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/prayers-and-sadhanas/how-to-bless-buddha-images-yourself.html 2. Others are to be printed and blessed and then hung up showing the entire image - depending on what it is, you can following the procedure from the above article. 3. Others are supposed to be printed and consecrated in a specific manner requiring the practitioners to have engaged in extensive retreats and then folded or rolled up and worn or hung in the house. They all have different functions and benefits for practitioners - since this requires specific prerequisites to make, there are no insctructions that you can find online. While I am reading the daily sadhana(short version ). I don’t have altar but I have the image of Dorge Sugden from vajrasecret. Since I can’t perform all the sadhana can I recite(sincerely read)do the refuge( by doing), the four immeasurable, Je Tsongkhapa Guru Yoga, kanshang/kawang, mantra recitation, praise of the protector dorge shugden and the dedication. Remember I dont have empowerment or initiation. If this is not possible can I just recite the Migstema and Dorje Shugden 1 mala per day. pastor answered: Dear Theresa, Thank you for your question. In regards to the Diamond Path sadhana, you can engage in the entire sadhana. It is a sadhana that does not require any form of initiation. The only two prayers that you should skip are the torma offering (if you don't have any torma offerings) and the serkym offering (if you don't have any serkym offering). But for the serkym offering, even if you don't have the actual serkym set, you can use a canned drink or make your own set. You can place a tall glass in a bowl and use that as your serkym set. You can learn how to engage in the serkym practice in the teachings videos above. I hope this helps. However, two days ago, I realized that leaving Buddhism was a mistake, and I want to return to my practice. At the same time, I feel ashamed for having left the Dharma. I began my Buddhist journey thanks to Rinpoche, which I consider the best decision I’ve ever made. I’m incredibly grateful that I was able to watch Rinpoche’s videos—they changed my life forever. Now, I feel ashamed that I may have disappointed him. Before I stopped practicing, I was making daily offerings, practicing Guru Yoga of Lama Tsongkhapa as my main practice, confessing to the 35 Buddhas, and doing the Dorje Shugden free sadhana given by Rinpoche. I also love reading Dharma texts. I’ve started chanting Migtsema again, and it brings me great peace. I truly want to return to my practice, but I’m unsure how to do so. Additionally, I feel lonely and lost, as there is no Buddhist community near me. Sometimes I consider to become a monk, but I do not know how to do that from the contry I am now. I would deeply appreciate any guidance you can offer. Best regards, Sirio
pastor answered: Dear Sirio, Nice to meet you, thank you for your message. I have read your message, and there is no need to feel ashamed or bad about it. You are still quite young in a non-Buddhist country so it natural that you will explore other spiritual paths. But one thing is for certain, that you seem serious about spiritual practice. So don't feel bad, it's a good thing. You haven't disappointed Rinpoche at all. If after exploring other paths, you have decided to practice Buddhism again, it's okay. It shows that the Buddhist path is for you. For now, you can just start practising what you were before, these are all extremely beneficial practices. Learn how to do them well, you can find resources here on this website that will help you a lot. The practice of Lama Tsongkhapa's Guru Yoga is excellent. You can find a commentary by Rinpoche here: https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/me/tsongkapas-daily-practice-video-commentary.html Watch and learn from the commentary slowly over time, and your practice will stabilise. The next time you engage in the practice of the 35 Confessional Buddhas, if you still feel bad, think about and realise that they are helping to purify any negative karma or negative thoughts you may have had. And once you are finished, let go of it. It's been fully purified and then continue on to practice what you were previously. This will be very good. In addition, you learn more from Rinpoche's teachings and read Dharma books. But when doing so, apply it to your own life and transform yourself slowly to become and better person for yourself and also for those around you. That is the core of Dharma practice. pastor answered: Dear Anonimo, Yamantaka practice belongs to the Highest Yoga Tantra class of deities. The mantra should not be recited by those without initiation, which comes with associated vows and commitments. Reciting the prayers or mantras of such deities requires a special blessing that is implanted in our mindstread during the initiation ceremony. You can instead recite the mantra of Dorje Shugden or Kalarupa. They are, like Yamantaka, emanations of Manjushri, who specifically help to overcome obstacles. The main purpose of Yamantaka's practice is actually for spiritual progress on the higher levels of tantric practice. I hope this helps. Thank you.

There are many people who rushed to initiation from some Gurus without knowing the actual requirements as mentioned in the 50 stanzas of Guru Devotion, perhaps when some of them learned the 50 stanzas of Guru Devotion it might be too late for them due to the 'Guru Disciples' relationship has been created . My question is what if some of them might hardly understand their Guru's teaching, etc., or whether the teaching is genuine, traditional, etc.. thus, in this case, what should a person do? Can he or she look from other teachings from other centres while still consider their first guru, whom they meet respectfully? May I know is the four preliminary practices are fixed as 100,000 times of prostration, mandala offering, Vajrasattva, and refuge? *Does it mean that whenever we recite the mandala offering prayer from the prayer, such as the 'Diamond Path', the 'Six Sessions of Guru Yoga', etc., are being calculated as well? Can one recite the mandala prayer and make the offering from Mala(does it calculate as well)? *Can anyone chan and replace the Vajrasatta 100 syllable prayer with its mantra? *The 100,000 is full prostration, or short /medium prostration? *What if one is only able to complete 3/4 of the preliminary practices in their life, will it caused any negative impact in their rebirth? May I know can I keep the Buddha statue or tsa tsa inside the books cabinet or hide it with something else such as books due to my wife being a Christian? There will be a conflict if I put the statue or Tsa Tsa in a conspicuous place. Will it cause offence or inappropriate to do so? May I know if one plans to do a hundred water offerings at one time, can you advise the method (my concern is the same water jug might not be sufficient to pour the water to the hundreds cup at once). pastor answered: Dear Ernest, Thank you for your message. This reply will be a little long, so I have placed the answers in sections. Guru Devotion: You are indeed right about people not understanding about the guru-disciple relationship, especially when they have received tantric initiation (at which stage guru devotion is even more important). If a person has received intiation from a guru, without knowing about their guru or understanding and practising guru devotion, it is a bit late. Since they have already received it, there is a connection there. So they should learn more and try to generate guru devotion and keep the vows, commitments and practices given at the time of intiaition if any. The person should try to understand the teachings as taught by that lama and understand more about the lama and their lineage. This is the best possible scenario. In Kechara, we have a protocol for following the principles of Guru Devotion, which you can find here: https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/buddhas-dharma/the-guru-protocol-a-guide-to-knowing-who-your-guru-is.html You can read this article to understand more about how a person should progress in such circumstances. Please pay close attention to point 5 in the article, as it will apply to your question. Preliminary Practices Within the Gelug lineage there are more than four preliminary practices. You should engage in those as prescribed by your guru. In other lineages the practice is fixed as four, within the Gelug tradition (depending on advice from your guru) there are more than can be done. All preliminary practices are fixed at the count of 100,000 plus 10% extra to make up for mistakes. Sometimes that guru will ask you to do a little more, so you reach 111,111. However the guru may ask you to do more of a particular preliminary. Mandala Offering in Daily Sadhanas The mandala offering within a particular daily deity sadhana such as the Diamond Path is not calculated as part of the preliminary practice. For the mandala offering preliminary, you have a very specific motivation/intention for the retreat, etc. The prayers are also a little different from the daily sadhana and you focus intensely on making mandala offerings. This also applies to the Six Session Guru Yoga, in which physical mandala offerings are not made, they are visualised. Six Session Guru Yoga is only done by those who have Higher Tantric Yoga initiations. Those without such initiations should not be engaging in Six Session Guru Yoga. Vajrasattva mantra I'm not completely sure regarding the meaning of your question. Anyone can recite Vajrasattva's mantra. In relation to the Vajrasattva preliminary practice, you need to recite the mantra as the part of the prayers for Vajrasattva preliminary practice. Prostrations For the prostration preliminary practice, it is full prostrations. Half or short prostrations do not count. The practice is done in combination with the practice of the 35 Confessional Buddhas. Not completing preliminary practices There is no negative impact whatsoever. In fact, no matter how much you do, there will only be benefit. If you need to cut your preliminary practice short rather than 100,000, immediately seal the retreat as quickly as you can. You will still have purified a lot of negative karma and generated a lot of merit, but it will not be counted as having compelted that particular preliminary. Buddha statues/images Having images within a cabinet is acceptable, but you should not mix the images with other non-Dharma items. If keeping together with books, these should be Dharma books. And all the items in the cabinet should be placed properly and cleaned well. When engaging in your practice, just open the cabinet door, and when finished, you can close it again. That is acceptable. But if the cabinet has multiple shelves, the images and Dharma books should be kept on the highest shelf. Having Dharma items on a cabinet is not offensive or inappropriate. It depends on your sitauation, but all items should be kept clean and respectfully. Water Offerings Usually when making multiple water offerings, use a clean bucket filled with water that you take to your altar. Then use a jug to make the water offerings. You can clear the water offerings into the same bucket when clearing. You should only use that bucket for making and clearing water offerings, nothing else. When making multiple water offerings, do it in batches, so once you fill up a number of bowls and run out of water, simple go back to and get more water and continue where you left off.
