Hi Pastors. There's a some frustrations going on in my mind. For the past few years, my spouse has been attending some charismatic church sermons very frequently. I have always taken the attitude of "if you are a christian, be a good christian", so i always leave her alone with her devotion. But lately, she's been getting on my nerves. She has not been successful in getting me to her place of worship but she's pestering our friends of other faith with statements like " come with me, and be saved. If not, you will go to hell." while crying emotionally non stop.Like only her beliefs can save the world. Now , many friends have avoided social outings with us. When i am with her church friends, they will talk about their strong faith which I dont mind until it comes to " only Christians and others : Satan ". We , who are non believers of their faith, but have done good deeds and still doing good deeds to the best of our living life , will go to hell because we dont accept "him"??
How does the inter faith councils participants behave when you shake hands and greet each other well but knowing that 'we go to heaven and the rest to HELL' – quite hypocritical situation.
Well, I try to be tolerant be dont try to offend anyone especially my spouse and her friends.Am I bad or as bad as those I consider hypocrites or should I just be tolerant and keep quiet or do I have to be vocal to defend that I am comfortable with what I believe and what I am doing? Tolerance is the key and continue doing the good deeds everyday.
Faith is a very strong driving force which plays a big part in determining the purpose of our lives and lives after death… Different faiths teaches different paths and destiny.
We are no position to comment much on other faiths. Perhaps have a heart to heart talk with your spouse that what you believe and what she believes differs and are not interested to seek to even understand each others faith.
Moving forward in this matter then, respect for what each other believes is important to keep the harmony in the family. Afterall, what is religion for if families do not benefit from it bring the members closer together.
