Question asked by jaesimin
Dear Pastors,
Good day to you. Please accept my apologies as I do not know if such a question should be posted here. If it is not, please do pardon me..
I understand that one should try not to have attachments as much as possible in order to be spiritually enlightened since this is part and parcel of the process.. I am very keen to learn more about dharma so as to become a better person from the inner side and to help as much people as possible. Both my partner and I have the same intention and thoughts so meanwhile we just do things that are within our abilities and means. Speaking of attachments, unfortunately, I hope to rebel a little. I can be and contribute to the society as much as possible but I sincerely hope to be able to meet and be with my partner again every life time if we have gained enough merits to be human brings again in the next life. It is the only attachment I am longing for. What I know from myself is I want to practise dharma, but I don't want to become a Buddha (after a millions of lifetime, of course I don't mean I can be hehe). How is it possible for us to create the affinity the meet life after life and to carry on with our voluntarily spreading dharma activities after have gained enough knowledge to do to so? Please guide me as my partner was the reason I became exposed to dharma. Many many thanks in advance. Pleased to learn from you soon.
It is wonderful to have a supportive, loving relationship and I am happy for you.
Unfortunately, attachments will cause us tremendous sufferings because we are not free from delusion/ignorance. What we are attached to is out of ignorance of its true nature. There are different types of sufferings and one of the suffering is the experience of change. Due to impermanence, we change, our partners change, circumstances change out of our control. In samsara, we do not have control but are slaves to karma which we continuously create. Any happiness or bliss we experience are short lived. There is no guarantee we will have the opportunity to become a human again even.
I highly recommend reading The Living Buddha Within http://vajrasecrets.com/books/english-books/book-living-buddha-within.html
