Question asked by Jessie French
Dear Pastors,
I know many people at Kachara house are animal rescuers , I am too. Today my oldest childhood dog, (15 years) is dying. I am very unprepared to help her transition. I keep praying for her to have no suffering, she seems to be sleeping peacefully. What should one do to help their dog or other beloved animals transition into death?
With deep gratitude for all your teachings.
-Jessie
Dear Jessie
Besides keeping your beloved dog as comfortable as possible, what we can do is to chant mantras and lightly blow on them, let him drink some blessed water if you have, lightly place holy objects (buddhist text, holy images) on his head. Chanting any of the mantras below would be very beneficial :
Om Mani Padme Hung – Mantra of Compassion
Tayata Om Bekanze Bekanze Maha Bekanze Ranza Samogathe Soha – Medicine Buddha Mantra
