Question asked by Justin Yong
Dear Rinpoche,
Many young kids follow or submit to a certain religion because of their parent's influence. Many for example are born into a Christian family and therefore are Christians for the rest of their life.
My question is, should parents expose young children to various religion and let them have a freedom to choose? This can be done by sending their children to the church for a few months, to a temple for a few months and even a mosque or any other religion houses.
Dear Justin,
I like your thoughts. It is very good for children to understand various religions. Understanding others creates tolerance and open mind to accept others as they are. What religion children grow up to practice is one thing, what is most important is to practice the religion correctly by developing a kind heart, not to damage others and to respect all religions.
