Question asked by KSJ
Hi all Pastor,
1. In Yonten Shigyurma "Foundation Of Good Qualities" Lamrim Prayer by Lama Tsongkhapa,
With mindfulness, introspection and great care, induced by that pure aspiration, bless me to make my essential practice The Pratimoksha, root of Buddha's teaching. What is means of "Pratimoksha" n "root of Buddha's teaching" refer to?
2. "May I swiftly gain the state of Vajradhara" meaning what!
Thanks
Dear KSJ,
1.The Pratimoksha belongs to the Vinaya ( moral discipline ) of the Buddhist Theravadan tradition in conjunction with holding vows to keep one steadfast in one’s journey to liberation and enlightenment. It is the very basis of Buddhism.
On the basis of the Pratimoksha there exist in Mahayana Buddhism two additional set of vows: The Bodhisattva vows and the Vajrayana vows.
2. Vajradhara is the tantric form of Buddha Sakyamuni in its dharmakaya or primordial form. He is depicted as dark blue in color, crossing his two hands over his chest holding a vajra and bell, representing his attainment of great bliss and wisdom and the essence of the historical Buddha’s realization of enlightenment.
