Question asked by Luna
Hello please I have a question
1: Kultchara has a website which tries to debunk/disprove kechara and Tsem Rinpoche. I wonder if you can debunk them back because I'm very confused
2: If suicide is equal to ending someone's life, does that mean if we prevent ourselves from suicide it is equal to saving a life?
Dear Luna,
1. Whatever we do in the world, there will be someone who does not like what you do and try to disprove what you do. If we try to do disprove them back, fight, argue, etc., then you are only perpetuating a negative cycle. Many people can say things to confuse people or to create distrust, but the matter at hand for any person to judge is proof and logic. You check the matter at hand yourself, using both proof and logic, and then you can come to a conclusion about the matter. For my own personal experience, I have been a part of Kechara for more than 10 years. I have not experienced such things as some people claim that we are, that we don’t practice Buddhism properly, etc. People can say all sorts of things for different reasons, but the proof comes from how people have benefited from the practice of Dharma that we study and teach here. You can see for yourself what we do (either online or in person if you visit us). Then you can make your own informed decision.
2. If we prevent ourselves from suicide, this is not considered saving a life, simply prolonging our own life. Saving a life means saving a life that is not our, and when it is in danger from dying from something outside that beings control. For example, when you save an animal from slaughter it is not in control of whether it is going to get slaughtered or not. So when you save it from being slaughtered, that is considered saving a life.
I hope this helps.
