Question asked by Mabo
Hello dear pastors,
I feel a strong connection to Manjushri and I’ve done his tantra and mantra for a while.
Then I saw that my dewa 1 birth yidam is Avalokiteshvara and might be excellent for me.
Otherwise, I have highest yoga tantric vows and comittments as to take a certain deity as a yidam.
Right now I’m a little bit confuse between my feelings of connection and the birth yidam and the other vows and comittments. I don’t know wich one to practice as my only deity.
Please can you help me ? What would be the best ?
Thank you
Wish you and all Kecharians the best
Dear Mabo,
Thank you for your questions. As I understand from your message, you have already received Highest Yoga Tantric (HYT) initiation. Since you have received the initiation for this yidam, this is the deity that you take as your main practice. The reason for this is that during the initiation ceremony, the seeds of achieving attainments through the practice of this deity was planted into your mindstream. Hence if you follow the daily practice, keep your vows, commitments, your Guru devotion, then you will be successful in your practice.
The birth Buddha aspect of the Mewa system is usually for those who do not have HYT, which actually supersedes the advice given in the Mewa system. In regards to your connection with Manjushri, you can of course still recite his mantra, or even Avalokiteshvara’s, but your core focus should be the HYT yidam practice.
You should learn, study and practice this properly for full transformation of the mind. Tsem Rinpoche gave some advice to a Yamantaka practitioner here: https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/buddhas-dharma/advice-to-a-yamantaka-initiate.html. Although your yidam may not be Yamantaka, the points that Rinpoche mentioned in the article will still be applicable to you.
To find out more about your HYT practice, please contact the centre or teacher that you received the practice from. They will be able to guide you in the proper manner.
