Greeting !
I am a born Buddhist and have been learning about the essence of Buddhism from a very grass-root level and by profession I am a tour guide and wants to shares genuine definition to my valued clients so quite often they inquire on the sign n symbolism associated with Buddhism , for instance like chanting of 108 mantra (bazra-guru or Om ma ni padme hung ) so I simply want to know the insights on 108 counting ? So I would appreciate if you could put some insight on this subject would make me understand it properly.

There are many explanations why the 108 times of recitation and you can google for the various reasons. When we do 108 recitations, we only consider it as 100x as the “extra” is accounted for when we make mistakes in recitation. Each mala will then have 108 beads. That way, it is easy to keep count as we complete each round of mala recitation, we consider that 100x of mantras have been done.
