Question asked by Tan Yik Ping
Dear Pastors,
My name is Yik Ping, would like to ask some questions.
Is it possible for everyone to become fully enlightened? After we become fully enlightened, is it the end of the story? Is it we will live happily everafter? Or what next after we become fully enlightened? If we are not careful, will we drop down again? TQ.
Dear Yik Ping
Yes, every sentient being has the potential to become fully enlightened. Buddha Shakyamuni is our example and there are others who became highly attained following the dharma as taught by Buddha.
It may be difficult to comprehend but in Buddhism, we learn that there is no beginning and no end. Also even IF all sentient beings are liberated, there are many other universes. Basically sentient beings are limitless. It is therefore more to our benefit to develop awareness of our own state of suffering and of others around us and do something about it. What do we do? learn the dharma, stop causing harm and cultivate a mind to be of benefit to others.
