Question asked by Toruma Kalig
Greetings Rinpoche,
Recently I stumbled upon the Dorje Shugden controversy when studying Vajrayana and Tibetan Buddhism. I found your Youtube videos on the topic very enlightening. Are there any other dharma teachers who speak on the topic of the ban? I have already looked into Kelsang Gyatso.
Second smaller question: Is there any influence of Dorje Shugden in Mongolia, seeing as they recognize Tibetan Buddhism?
Thank you.
Dear Toruma Kalig,
Thank you for your questions. I am glad that you have found the YouTube teachings helpful on the topic. There are actually a lot of articles here that describe the ban on the practice of Dorje Shugden from many different aspects. There is a Dorje Shugden category, which you can access here: https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/category/dorje-shugden. As well as articles on the controversy there are also articles about the practice itself.
Many great teachers have practised Dorje Shugden, you can find out more about their lives and works here: http://www.dorjeshugden.org/great-teachers. In regards to Dorje Shugden practice in Mongolia, yes Dorje Shugden is practiced there for sure. Below are some links which may be of interest to you:
