This Nun Wishes for Tsem Rinpoche’s Death

Jamyang Choden

The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA, Tibetan leadership based in Dharamsala, North India) has spent over 20 years propagating hatred against a holy practice by poisoning minds and inferring that harming Dorje Shugden practitioners is a righteous act. To make things worse, the world has stood idly by as this is happening because Buddhists are supposed to be tolerant. But where should we draw the line and say “enough is enough”? Is it too much when a nun curses a person to die an untimely death and to be damned in hell?

Well, this is the hatred that the nun Jamyang Choden has expressed on Tsem Rinpoche’s Facebook page, a public platform that everyone can access. And all this ill will is not because Rinpoche has done anything to her or harmed her in any way. In fact, they are not even remotely acquainted.

The only reason Tsem Rinpoche is subjected to such abuse and curses is simply because Rinpoche published a story on this blog which tells the history of one of Bhutan’s great lineage masters, His Holiness the 4th Zhabdrung Rinpoche Jigme Norbu and his writings about Dorje Shugden. The people of Bhutan are unable to refute the irreversible fact that His Holiness Zhabdrung Rinpoche composed prayers to Dorje Shugden. This has perhaps aroused feelings of disbelief, fear and anger because it goes against everything that they have been told for the past two decades.

Ever since the article was shared on Facebook, there has been a constant barrage of online bashing simply because the article is about Dorje Shugden and because Tsem Rinpoche is a Dorje Shugden practitioner. It does not seem to make a difference that the article is written based on the truth, researched from authentic sources and supported by evidence. Just because he is a Dorje Shugden practitioner and because the article is about Dorje Shugden, Tsem Rinpoche is automatically a target.

The amount of hate speech, vulgarity and abuse that has been hurled at Rinpoche for sharing this well-researched article that was based on documents sourced from Bhutan’s national library is quite unbelievable, especially as it is coming from the people of a country that is supposed to be warm, friendly and, most of all, a Buddhist nation.

This type of discrimination is precisely what Dorje Shugden practitioners have had to endure on a daily basis for a long time, ever since the CTA implemented the ban on this very ancient and holy practice. But to see a member of the Sangha, an ordained nun in robes, wishing for someone to die quickly and be reborn in hell is very saddening, not because it hurts Rinpoche but because it damages the Dharma so directly. It damages the Buddha’s message of tolerance, compassion and kindness very much.

A nun is supposed to hold her vows, be kind, compassionate, practise mind transformation, meditate and help all sentient beings because a nun aspires to become a Buddha one day. No decent person let alone a Buddhist monk or nun should curse others and wish for them to die quickly and suffer tremendous pain and agony in hell, especially if it is someone they do not even know. Jamyang Choden even used the Tibetan term Dorji Nyelwa which means Vajra Hell. What kind of nun would harbour so much hate for another person she does not even know unless she, like so many others, has had her mind poisoned and influenced strongly by the lies of the CTA?

Unfortunately, the sad truth is that this is exactly what the Tibetan leadership has done to Dorje Shugden practitioners. It is also what the Tibetan leadership has done to the sanctity of Buddhism – they have twisted minds and encouraged thinking and behaviour that is the complete opposite of everything the Buddha taught. The Tibetan leadership never officially condemns people who disparage, berate, degrade or threaten Dorje Shugden practitioners. Their silence is their obvious consent. In fact they encourage this.

The CTA have achieved this by creating a poisonous climate of fear and hatred. They have deceived the unsuspecting public by propagating the falsehood that Dorje Shugden is a demon, without any real or solid evidence. For over 20 years since 1996, they have systematically told the public that to hate Dorje Shugden people is to be a real follower of the Dalai Lama and the Buddha’s teachings. All this began in the monasteries and then spread to government departments, Tibetan-run hospitals and local shops. It has even spilled over into public schools where the minds of young children are sown with hate and prejudice.

So successful is the CTA’s hate campaign against Dorje Shugden that, even when genuine historical facts are presented, many people of Bhutan deny it and are even willing to renounce their own lineage master just to be “politically correct”. Yet, the CTA continues to claim to be a democracy that practises religious freedom. But this is not true. No democratic government would publish pages upon pages of discriminatory materials against a singled out religious group on their official website. No democratic leader would make the fatal mistake of mixing politics with religion. Rather, a truly democratic government would uphold their duty to protect the basic human rights and freedoms of their people.

And so, this Bhutanese nun has demonstrated just how dangerously effective the CTA’s propaganda campaign against Dorje Shugden is, and that it has spread all over the world, even into what is supposed to be a peaceful Buddhist country like Bhutan that measures the wellbeing of its people in terms of ‘Gross National Happiness’. Bhutan is one of the few countries in the world where they use the Tibetan script and so the Bhutanese are particularly susceptible to being influenced by the CTA’s lies about Dorje Shugden.

Here is a screenshot of a Bhutanese person who is perhaps more exposed, asking us to forgive those who are cursing us online, and he is letting us know how the Central Tibetan Administrations has brainwashed many Bhutanese to hate Dorje Shugden. Click on image to enlarge.

Another Bhutanese individual is writing in to let us know just how badly the Central Tibetan Administration has brainwashed many Bhutanese into hating Dorje Shugden. Click on image to enlarge.

What this nun has done says quite a lot about her. And unfortunately, it damages the reputation of her teachers, the monastic community that she belongs to, her country and even her King. Is this really the face of the Bhutanese Buddhist Sangha? I don’t think so because many Bhutanese Buddhist masters are great teachers in their own right and it is impossible that centuries of Buddhism in Bhutan has no effect. Therefore the only conclusion is that all this anger and rejection even in the face of facts and spiritual history shows how well practised the Tibetan leadership is at spreading lies about Dorje Shugden.

So why is the Tibetan leadership doing this? The answer is very simple — to use Dorje Shugden as a scapegoat to cover up their failures to keep their promises, such as repeated pledges to regain independence for the Tibetans in exile. This string of broken promises coupled with the CTA’s failure to provide the exile community with any progress towards a meaningful and stable future has caused the Tibetans to become increasingly restless and dissatisfied.

And so, the CTA began using the Shugden conflict to create a diversion from the mess they created. By keeping the focus on a false ‘enemy’, the CTA hoped to distract their own people and continue to collect financial aid for the Tibetan cause, as they have done for the past 59 years in exile. All this has been exposed in global media by investigative journalists and even by Tibetan government officials themselves.

How much hatred, harm and damage must be done to individuals, to the reputation of Tibetan Buddhism, and to the collective harmony of the Tibetan people before the CTA stops their harmful campaign against Dorje Shugden? When will it be enough? People have been physically harmed and lives have even been lost. Yet none of this has deterred the CTA so far.

This is why Tsem Rinpoche speaks up and will continue to speak up because such injustice should not be allowed or tolerated. We should use our lives for the betterment of all sentient beings. We should not misuse the privilege and trust the people have given us to abuse and harm them instead. We have so many issues to deal with in this world; we certainly do not need more hate.

At the end of the day, all this would not have happened if not for the harmful stories that the CTA has been publishing for decades. I sincerely hope this nun will come to the realisation that her conduct is inappropriate and improper. Even if she is no longer a nun anymore, it does not excuse her conduct in any way or make it any more acceptable. It is very heavy negative karma to curse another person in this manner. Her negative thoughts, speech and actions are unbecoming of an individual who is supposed to represent the Buddhadharma. Such a nun will not be able to guide others on the path to enlightenment if she becomes spiritually lost to hate and anger. I forgive her. I do not blame her for her behaviour. And most of all, I pray that she will come to the realisation that she has been misled and that she will be free from misconceptions, anger and hatred.

Humbly,
Martin Chow

Update

When the nun Jamyang Choden wrote her message on Tsem Rinpoche’s Facebook page (22 June 2018), she had not changed her Facebook profile photo for some time, since 6 December 2017 to be exact. However, on 26 June 2018, just four days after posting her hate-filled comment, she decided to change her profile photo for the first time in over 6 months.

Insert caption here. Click on image to enlarge.

Just days after posting a hate-filled message on Facebook, Jamyang Choden decided to change her profile photo from that of an ordained nun to that of a lay person. Click on image to enlarge.

One has to wonder why she chose to change her profile photo at this time. Was it because she had received multiple messages asking her how a nun could write such a crude comment? Was it because she did not want to be identified as a member of the Sangha? Was it because she was ashamed of her own behaviour? What other reason could she possibly have to change her photo from that of an ordained nun to that of a lay person at this point of time? I leave you to think and come to your own conclusions.

It is a very serious matter when someone’s personal choice of spiritual path elicits hatred, anger and death threats due to the negative propaganda of a so-called democratic leadership. It’s so shameful to hear these things …..a nun cursing great lama….I am from Bhutan and as far as i know my fellow bhutanese …..we cannot do such things at all….Bhutan is a small buddhist kingdom ruled by a generous king and guided by his holiness je khenpo. People join hands to pray for every living beings and even the uneducate ones can chant prayers and we never ever bad mouth the person in red robes…..for we bhutanese every single monk is equal to lama and all great lamas are believed to be reincarnation of buddha. _/\_

Throne seat of Zhabdrung Jigme Norbu at Gorinang Monastery in Paro
    (From Facebook)

The seat of Zhabdrung Jigme Norbu. Here is what I found out from a short study.

High Lamas can manifest in different forms, such as the Mind emanation, Body emanation or Speech emanation. Jigme Norbu was a layman who was recognised as the Mind emanation of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal (1594-1651).

Jigme Norbu, the Fourth Mind Incarnation of the Zhabdrung, was born into the respected family line of the renowned Bhutanese Nyingma terton, Pemalingpa (1450-1521), whose Nyingma teachings had become part of the Drukpa lineage. His list of teachers included several important Je Khenpos, including Sherab Gyaltsen (25th Je Khenpo), Padma Zangpo (27th/29th Je Khenpo), Jampel Gyatso (30th Je Khenpo), and Yonten Gyaltsen (31st Je Khenpo).

After Jigme Norbu was recognized as the mind reincarnation of the Zhabdrung, he was enthroned as the Desi in 1851 under the recommendation of the Central Monk Body. However, Jigme Norbu did not want to be ordained and decided to take a consort to practice advanced Mahamudra.

He also had a daughter. This was not well looked upon by Bhutanese society. That, combined with a suspicion that he was involved in a political coup, were the reasons behind his resignation in 1852. Soon after, he left his monastic seat, Talo Sanga Choling, which is located at Talo valley, and journeyed to Tibet.

Later, Jigme Norbu returned to Gorinang, the monastery which was founded by his teacher, Sherab Gyeltsen, and passed into clear light at the age of 31.

Thank you, Mr Chow, for writing this post. It is disappointing for a nun to say something so hurtful to a monk. No one should ever say something so hurtful to someone else even though they practice something else different from yours. Even though you may think it is wrong, at least do some research and try to understand it. We should also be open-minded about other people’s practice.

    Dear friends,

Tibet has produced many powerful meditations, rituals and guidelines to help us gain spiritual protection, gain wisdom and higher states of consciousness. In general Tibet has produced many powerful methods for the growth of our spiritual evolution. Dorje Shugden is an angel, a saint, a powerful spiritual protector-warrior who originated 350 years ago when a highly awakened Tibetan Lama fulfilled his vows to become a special being to grant protection, wisdom, material needs, safety when travelling (normal and astral travel) and spiritual awakening. Both the Great 5th Dalai Lama and the current His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama composed short yet effective prayers to invoke upon the power and blessings of this special saint and protector. One can recite either one of the prayers that you feel suits you, anytime or even daily. When you feel a special need for help, you can recite either prayer anytime. When you are feeling down, afraid or just need a blessing, you can recite them. After reciting either invocation, it is good to chant the mantra of Dorje Shugden: Om Benza Wiki Bitana Soha.

You do not have to be a Buddhist or practitioner of any religion to invoke upon the blessings and protection of this special enlightened and awakened angel Dorje Shugden. He helps all without discrimination or bias as he is filled with compassion and love. Divinity has no boundaries, they help all who call upon them.

Enclosed are the prayers in English, Chinese and Tibetan.

May you be safe, protected and blessed.

“The 4th Zhabdrung Rinpoche of Bhutan and Dorje Shugden” blog post which was published June 8, 2018 already has exactly at the moment 152,744 views!! Over 150k views!!! Amazing!! The views will keep growing as time elapses of course.

This indicates many Bhutanse and Buddhists around the world will now know that Dorje Shugden is connected to Bhutan and their Kagyu Lineage. Dorje Shugden was promoted by the highest lama of Bhutan namely the 4th Zhabdrung Rinpoche himself. So Dorje Shugden will help and protect anyone and is not sectarian as they accuse him to be. People in the Kagyu school of Buddhism also practised Dorje Shugden and Dorje Shugden assisted them lovingly. Dorje Shugden being an emanation of Manjushri will help anyone who calls upon him regardless of their background and religion.

Good job to our writers, researchers, editors, technical team, supporting team and Kechara people who promoted this blog post on social media. Now more will come to understand how pervasive Dorje Shugden is in all the lineages of Tibetan Buddhism although the Tibetan leadership in-exile tries to hide this truth. Thank you everyone for promoting Dorje Shugden to benefit many. We were all very harmonious before the unethical ban against Dorje Shugden practitioners. Since the inception of the ban in 1996, there has been no benefits and instead so much disharmony among Tibetan Buddhists around the world. Many hundreds have spoken up about this point where we want harmony back. There should never be a ban against any spiritual practice.

His Eminence Kyabje Dagom Rinpoche’s incarnation is in Lhasa visiting. He is visiting the 350-year-old Trode Khangsar chapel dedicated to Dorje Shugden. He is paying homage to the powerful statue of Dorje Shugden housed in this sacred chapel. Both the chapel and statue of Dorje Shugden were commissioned by His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama. The Great 5th Dalai Lama also composed a prayer to be recited daily to Dorje Shugden.

Dagom Rinpoche’s previous lives were great masters, scholars and practitioners of Dorje Shugden. Now this new incarnation of Dagom Rinpoche is offering gold on the face of Dorje Shugden in homage and worship to this very sacred statue of Dorje Shugden housed in Lhasa for the last 350 years. This is a very traditional Tibetan method of paying homage to holy images, which is by offering gold with prayers.

The Tibetan leadership wrongly says if you practise Dorje Shugden you will take rebirth into the three lower realms. Hundreds of lamas from the Sakya, Kagyu and Gelugpa schools of Buddhism have practised Dorje Shugden and their incarnations returned. Many of the incarnations are recognised by His Holiness the Dalai Lama himself. So this shows if you practise Dorje Shugden, only benefits come and no harm will come. The very fact Dagom Rinpoche’s incarnation is back, is clear evidence that Dorje Shugden’s practice is beneficial.

May Dagom Rinpoche’s current incarnation live a very long life.

Divination (‘mo’) Text by Dorje Shugden

This is an important divination (‘mo’) text composed by Dorje Shugden himself. Dorje Shugden took trance of the Choyang Dulzin oracle lama, the senior oracle of Gaden Shartse Monastery, and instantly on the spot composed this text within two hours.

The divination text contains information on how to use dice to do divination for the future and is known to be highly accurate. When practitioners use this text, they will be in direct contact with Dorje Shugden to get answers to questions about the future. It is for those who have good samaya with Dorje Shugden and are free of the eight worldly dharmas to be of benefit to others in divining the future.

The Library of Tibetan Works and Archives is in Dharamsala, which is broken into two parts. Upper Dharamsala is where the Dalai Lama’s palace is located with his audience room and main prayer hall. It is also the location of the Dialectics School, Gaden Shartse’s guesthouse, restaurants, tourist hotels and main tourist areas.

A short ride down takes you to the lower part of Dharamsala where the Tibetan government is located. It is the location of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Nechung monastery, the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, the Tibetan arts centre…it’s all in one area. And the reason why it’s split into upper and lower Dharamsala is because the area is mountainous.

The Library of Tibetan Works and Archives was established by the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government to preserve all the ancient texts – both secular and spiritual – of Tibet and in the process, translate them into various languages like English. This book, Overview of Buddhist Tantra, by Panchen Sonam Drakpa was one of the books translated into English. What’s very interesting is that the book very clearly says that Panchen Sonam Drakpa’s previous life is Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen, one of the five main disciples of Lama Tsongkhapa. It also says that after that, he was Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen.

So the book is basically saying that Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen, Panchen Sonam Drakpa and Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen – the three Drakpas – are of the same mindstream.

Now that’s very peculiar because if Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen’s previous life is Panchen Sonam Drakpa, the renowned composer of 45 volumes of Dharma texts, the abbot of three monasteries AND the 15th Gaden Tripa, the holder of Lama Tsongkhapa’s throne…if that’s the case, how can Panchen Sonam Drakpa take rebirth as Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen and become an evil spirit and have a negative mind?

Prior to Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen, he was Panchen Sonam Drakpa and before that, he was Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen, a heart disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa. How can a heart disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa reincarnate as the erudite master Panchen Sonam Drakpa, and then die and reincarnate as Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen…and then Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen, due to a bad and negative prayer, become the evil spirit Dorje Shugden? How is that possible? Logically, it’s not.

What’s incredible is that all of this was printed by the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives under the Dalai Lama’s guidance. They contradict themselves because on one hand, the Tibetan leaders say Dorje Shugden is an evil spirit. On the other hand they’re printing a book saying that Panchen Sonam Drakpa, whose later incarnation became Dorje Shugden, is of this illustrious mindstream.

So how can the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, which is under the auspices of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government, print the translation of a book composed by the previous incarnation of a so-called evil spirit? How can they then say in the book that Panchen Sonam Drakpa’s previous life is Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen, and his next life was Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen?

Prior to the Dorje Shugden ban and controversy, everyone in Tibet knew that Dorje Shugden is Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen, that Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen is Panchen Sonam Drakpa, and that Panchen Sonam Drakpa is Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen. The three Drakpas, they are one mindstream emanating again and again to benefit other beings.

And as we all know, Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen became Dorje Shugden so it totally doesn’t make sense to call him an evil spirit, then highlight all of his previous lives as erudite masters, and publish all of this information under their own library. So you can see the contradictions. You can read all of this for yourself in Overview of Buddhist Tantra, which was printed by the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives.

    OVERVIEW OF BUDDHIST TANTRA

GENERAL PRESENTATION OF THE CLASSES OF TANTRA,
CAPTIVATING THE MINDS OF THE FORTUNATE ONES

    BY
    PANCHEN SONAM DRAGPA
    (Pan-chen bSod-nams grags-pa, 1478-1554)

    O Choje Sonam Dragpa Pel! (Chos-rje bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal!)
In the vast expanse of Your bodhi-mind,
The mind that the Buddhas have lauded for as many as
    one hundred times,
You have developed “merit” shining like the sun.
Through Your skill in learning, debate and writing,
As illuminating as one hundred thousand sun rays,
You have developed in You a complete knowledge of
    the entire sutras and tantras,
Resembling a garden of flowers in full bloom.
    The power of Your speech is like the sun;
The fame of your name has reached the three realms of
    this world.
O Sonam Dragpa, the teacher of teachers!
I bow down at your feet.

In the vast garden of Your great teachings,
The intelligent young people gather for
The ‘six ultimates’ and the ‘four modes of transmission,’
Just as they are attracted to
The one hundred thousand types of nectar
Dripping from a flower of one hundred petals.
May I be able to experience
The taste of the secret tantra!

Panchen Choje Sonam Dragpa Pel (Panchen Chos-rje bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal), the holder of sutra and Vajrayana teachings, was a master whose outstanding learning and spiritual accomplishments are well known by all the learned ones in Tibet. His first incarnation came in the form of one of the five prestigious disciples of Lord Tsongkhapa (Tsong-kha-pa) and became known as Vinaya Holder (Dulzin) Dragpa Gyaltsen (Gragspa rgyal-mtshan). Then came Panchen Sonam Dragpa Pel (Panchen bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal), the author of the present text. The next was Nagri Tulku Dragpa Gyaltsen (mNga’-ris sPrul-sku Grags-pa rgyal-mtshan). In this way, a line of his incarnations, each with the Dragpa (gragspa) surname, followed successively.

Panchen Sonam Dragpa Pel (Panchen bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal) was born in the 14th century in Tsetang (rTsed-thang) in the Lhoka (Lho-kha) region of Central Tibet. He entered the great seat of learning, Sera Thekchenling (Se-ra theg-chen-gling) monastic university, where he became the personal disciple of spiritual master Donyo Dangden (Dhon-yod dang-ldan) and His Holiness the Second Dalai Lama Gedun Gyatso (dGe-‘dun rgya-mtsho). Under them, he studied the entire teachings of sutra, tantra and their commentaries, and became known for his outstanding learning. He also received from them the empowerments, reading transmissions, guides and instructions of the entire body of spiritual training. On becoming the fully blessed one, the Dalai Lama appointed him the abbot of the Loseling (Blo-gsalgling) college, one of the four colleges of Drepung (‘Bras-dpung)- the most prestigious monastic university in Tibet before 1959, with over 10,000 monks on its register. He continued to be the abbot of this college for the next six years; and after him the tenure for each of his successors in this position was fixed for a period of six years, a rule that is followed even today.

He was then appointed the head of the Gelugpa (dGe-lugs-pa) order, the throne holder of Gaden (dGa’-ldan), thus becoming the 15th regent of Lord Tsongkhapa (Tsong-khapa), the second Buddha. In his eulogy to him, Khedrub Gelek Pelsang (mKhas-grub dGe-legs dpal- bzang) says:

O Lama, the second successor of the Unsubduable One,
The regent of the Lord of Dharma,
    You are the one who made the virtuous qualities thrive;
You are the one who ascended to the golden throne uplifted
    by the fearless lions.
    May Your success thrive forever!

He continued to be the throne holder for the next seven years, during which time he promoted the spread of Lord Tsongkhapa’s (Tsong-kha-pa) precious teachings, the Gelug (dGe-lugs) tradition, across the land in all directions. He also paid special attention to the practice of monastic rules and the learning and meditation of Buddhism in the monasteries such as Sera (Se-ra), Drepung (‘Bras-spungs), Kyomolung (sKyo-mo-lung), Phagmo Chode (Phag-mo chos-sde), Nyeding (Nye-sdings), Ödna (’Od-sna) and Chöde Rinchen (Chos-sde rin-chen) etc. and improved them to a great extent. He taught the Third Dalai Lama Sonam Gyatso (bSod-nams rGya-mtsho) as the latter’s spiritual master. It was from him that the Dalai Lama received the name Sonam (bSod-nams).

His contributions in the literary field are enormous; and, indeed, they are the most valuable of all his contributions. Tsongkhapa (Tsong-kha-pa) has rightly said:

    Of all one’s deeds,
The ‘deeds of speech’ are the most valuable.

Panchen Sonam Dragpa Pel (Panchen bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal) was a person with an extraordinary talent for teaching, debate and writing. In his colophon to Bu mey chi don zab don sel wey dron mey (dBu ma’i spyi don zab don gsal ba’i sgron me), he wrote:

In the field of teaching, I am [next to none!] Knowing that
I would outdo them in this field, Arya Asanga and his
    brother transmigrated into another realm.

In the field of debate, I am [next to none!] Knowing that
I would find out the areas they had contradicted and
that I would examine them and put forth my arguments,
the logician Dignaga (Digh-naga) and Dharmakirti tactfully
    bypassed me.

In the field of writing, I am [next to none!] [In my eyes,]
Arya-sura was just good at spreading the works, which
are like ‘disputes~ between an insect and a field.’

I am the learned man. Peerless in the field of teaching,
    debate and writing!

For some this passage might sound utterly nonsensical, but the most learned master of our age, the talented teacher, logician and writer, the late tutor to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Yongdzin Trijang Dorjechang (Yongs-‘dzin Khri-byang rDorje-‘Chang), said: “Now, some people of our time, who consider themselves learned scholars, think that this is utter nonsense; but they are wrong.”

Panchen Sonam Dragpa Pel (Panchen bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal) wrote over 45 volumes of books dealing with many different subjects, such as the commentaries on the sutras and tantras, the saddhana manuals of the tutelary deities, history, religious history and so forth. Among these, one that is very important for all who wish to learn and meditate on the path-of the practical aspect of Buddhism in general and that of Vajrayana in particular is the Leg shey gyu de chi nam par shagpa kelsang gi yi trod (Legs bshad rgyud sde spyi’i rnam par bzhag pa skal bzang gi yid ‘phrod). In this book, he has explained precisely how the four tantras differ from one another. He has also fully described the stages of the two spontaneous path practices of the Vajrayana tradition, dealing with the ‘six ultimates’ and the ‘four modes of transmission’, thus interpreting without mistake the intention of Adhi-Buddha Vajradhara.

May the reprint of this text, which the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives is publishing herewith, bring peace and happiness in this world!

This is very sad to see that a nun will say such a thing to a fellow sangha member. This is how damaging Dorje Shugden ban is. A lot of people has been denying the existence of the ban and this is just an ‘advice’ His Holiness gave. However, looking at how the public treated Dorje Shugden practitioners, it is a ban and not just an advice.

Because of the ban, there is a rift in Tibetan Buddhism that separates the Dorje Shugden people and non-Dorje Shugden people. Dorje Shugden people are being discriminated against, segregated, bullied, cursed at, and denied basic human rights only because of their choice of religion. They were not creating any REAL troubles, unlike the lies from the CTA that can be refuted easily.

Because of the ban, a nun from the beautiful Bhutan country can say curse a fellow monk to hell. Because of the tension and miscommunication that CTA had created with their lies, the Buddhist community is breaking apart and fellow monks are hurting and cursing each other just because some of them wanted to practice what their choice of religion. They did not harm anyone, or break the law. All they wanted is to do prayers and practices peacefully in their own rooms and even that is not allowed.

The ban has created a lot of unnecessary tension and suffering due to CTA’s own selfish agenda.

In the emerald forest there lies magical beings and powerful entities of old. There are beautiful gentle creatures of the forest such as deers, rabbits, owls and so on. Faeries, little people, elves, dwarves, trolls and other magnificent worldly and other-worldly beings of mystical origins who nurture and look over the natural world call this place their home. These supernatural beings, who remain hidden to ordinary view and are rarely seen together, have gathered to herald the arrival of the World Peace Guardian Dorje Shugden within the ethereal realm. Paying homage to the divine king they welcome him, the supreme being whose body shines with the light of magnificence and abides in benevolent wisdom. He who has come from the pinnacle of the celestial dimensions, he has the dominion over men and gods. All beings in this and other worlds have gathered to pay homage and to receive blessings, abundance and counsel.

Shugden the divine king, at last has drawn near,
He offers a new life so clear,
With a silent prayer he offers the golden stair,
Sing praises, does the emerald forest all cheer.

COMPASSION at its best: His Holiness the Dalai Lama explained in Ladakh, 31 July 2018:

“Usually at the beginning of an empowerment there is a ritual to drive away interferences. But I no longer feel it’s consistent to regard some beings as evil forces. At the start of each day I cultivate altruism, but in the evening we say, ‘May the evil forces be driven away.’ There seems to be a contradiction here that I’m no longer keen to comply with. I’m not highly realized, but I have great confidence in the power of Bodhichitta.”

    ———————————————-

This latest statement by His Holiness the Dalai Lama is excellent. I fully believe in his compassion and I hope he will fully implement it.

All negative beings take rebirth with negative minds due to deep attachments. The attachments result in negative states of rebirth and angry minds that carry out harmful actions, like spirits or hungry ghosts who can be very bothersome because they are very angry as they died in the state of attachment in their former rebirths.

Indeed we need to generate compassion towards these beings, especially the formless type, as it would be the best remedy to stop their harm. We can recite mantras with love and bless them with it. While reciting prayers, we can meditate on them being at peace. When we generate compassion towards these harmful interferences of the formless type, many of them will calm down and stop their harm and even go away. Some of them, you can talk to them and subdue their harm and they will stop harming completely if they feel your love. That is how you can help them.

Many high masters of India and Tibet generated great compassion towards certain ghosts, spirits or interferers and subdued them in this manner and even made them into protectors of regions. I’ve witnessed this with one of my lamas where he subdued a female spirit that crossed over the Himalayas. After making the spirit promise it will not harm others, my lama gave the spirit a drink to seal the promise.

Since the Dalai Lama has manifested saying Dorje Shugden is negative (although many high lamas disagree), then he can apply this method to Dorje Shugden. He can ‘subdue’ Dorje Shugden by generating tremendous love, prayers and talking nice to Dorje Shugden who will be ‘subdued’. Then people are henceforth ‘free’ to practice Dorje Shugden without more discrimination, segregation and being called degrading names for practicing this protector.

Give peace a chance. His Holiness the Dalai Lama can generate great love towards Dorje Shugden and all the hundreds of thousands of Dorje Shugden practitioners that love the Dalai Lama and miss him like I do. May His Holiness the Dalai Lama bring peace and heal the rift with Dorje Shugden practitioners.

May His Holiness live very long and always be healthy,

The religious divisions created by the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) over the practice of the Buddhist Dharma protector Dorje Shugden is now creating division amongst Bhutan’s Buddhist populace. Though historically, Bhutanese have practised Dorje Shugden as evidenced by some of the country’s greatest spiritual leaders having composed prayers to the deity, recent leaders saw no other choice but to ban the practice themselves. Tibetans have sought to forcibly overtake the country throughout Bhutanese history, most notably in 1974 when the Dalai Lama’s own brother was implicated in a conspiracy to murder the then Bhutanese monarch. And since that time, the Bhutanese have been extremely wary of Tibetan interference within Bhutan’s internal affairs. In an effort to minimise the implications of the CTA’s ban on the practice creating divisions amongst their people, the Bhutanese government themselves banned the practice with Bhutan’s borders.

This however has far reaching spiritual implications given the country’s historical practice of Dorje Shugden, and while Bhutan’s leaders imposed the ban to secure social harmony, the CTA’s reach has created only disharmony as seen in comments by both a nun and monk who threaten the lives of Dorje Shugden practitioners online. The CTA have corrupted Bhutan’s spiritual integrity and created divisions which the country’s leaders had sought to avoid but to no avail.

Doctrinal spat puts Bhutan’s “Happiness Index” at risk

An escalating conflict within Bhutan’s Buddhist community could risk depressing its much vaunted “Gross National Happiness Index”. With Buddhists making up about 75% of the population, the controversy has pitted supporters of an ancient deity against vocal opponents in what some observers claim is an artificial conflict stirred by opaque external forces.

Central to the dispute is the devotion of a section of Bhutan’s Buddhist community to Dorje Shugden, an ancient Tibetan Buddhist protector deity (Dharmapala) who has already been the focus of discrimination in the communities of Tibetan exiles in northern India and elsewhere. The Dalai Lama has spoken against the practice, effectively ostracising Shugden worship in the Tibetan exile communities, despite having once been a follower of the deity himself.

While Tibet’s spiritual leader has suggested that devotion to the deity fosters divisions among the exile Tibetan community, opponents counter that freedom of worship is enshrined in the constitution of the Central Tibetan Authority (CTA) — the Tibetan government in exile — and that the Dalai Lama’s de facto ban on Shugden devotion has itself created and accentuated divisions in the community.

In recent history, these divisions have certainly been exploited by external forces in their efforts to gain some regional sway: the West has typically seen support for the exiled Tibetans as an expression of opposition to China’s hold on the Tibet Autonomous region, and has often, openly and covertly, supported the Dalai Lama’s goals, both real and purported, in order to bolster its own geopolitical influence in Asia. It is no secret that the United States’ Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) backed the failed 1959 uprising against China in occupied Tibet which led to the Dalai Lama’s exile, and that both the spiritual leader’s brothers were paid CIA operatives.

On the other side, China’s political powers become have tended to verge on apoplexy at any suggestion that Tibet should have more autonomy or claim its independence, and they have sought to use the controversy over Shugden devotion to China’s own ends in order to undermine the global influence of the Dalai Lama.

Observers from across the Buddhist community have said this proxy battle has spilled over, and appears now to be taking hold in several countries in the region, including Bhutan.

The Kingdom of Bhutan, a tiny mountain nation nestling in the Himalayas between two giant neighbours, the Tibet Autonomous Region of China and India, prides itself on being the first nation in the world to use “Gross National Happiness” as a measure of national development, considering economic measures alone as an insufficient yardstick of successful policy. Visitors have reported, amazed, that the majority of Bhutan’s population genuinely appears to prize peace and harmony over material wealth and that in public policy, ecological considerations supersede commercial ones.

Bhutan’s constitution is largely based on the Buddhist faith and three quarters of the population are Buddhists, the majority descended from Tibetan migrants. The remainder are mainly Hindis of Nepalese origin. An absolute monarchy for much of its history, it was transformed into a constitutional monarchy in 2008 by its current sovereign, King Wangchuk, who thereby put a limit on his own power.

Though bordered by larger and infinitely more powerful neighbours, Bhutan, whose population is just 800,000, has never in its history been colonised, despite several attempts by Tibet over the centuries. While the British did exert some influence over the country through much of the colonial period, Bhutan has been largely free from external interference over the last centuries.

It appears that some Tibetans have never given up hopes for gaining control over Bhutan, even following exile from their own country. In fact in 1974, Bhutan’s government said it had discovered a series of plots to kill its then monarch that had been orchestrated by a group of Tibetans taking their orders from the Tibetan government in exile — the CTA — which had been based in northern India since the 1959 flight from occupied Tibet. It said the plot, allegedly headed by the Dalai Lama’s elder brother Gyalo Thondup, was in effect just the latest Tibetan attempt to take control of Bhutan[1].

It was the hope of heading off what were perceived as ongoing CTA efforts to destabilise Bhutan that prompted its government, in 1979, to require the minority Tibetan population to either become citizens of Bhutan or return to China-controlled Tibet. Although the CTA objected, about a third of the 6–7000 Tibetans in Bhutan at the time opted for citizenship, while the remainder resettled in India under CTA rule.

However, it would appear that CTA designs to gain a foothold in Bhutan did not end there, and that Tibet’s leaders in exile have continued to seek to destabilise the country in order to gain political influence there, introducing Shugden devotion as one specific bone of contention.

The Dalai Lama and others have said their antipathy towards the deity stems partly from the idea that Dorje Shugden, as protector of the Gelug tradition — the largest of Tibet’s four principal Buddhist traditions — promotes divisions among Buddhists.

Shugden adherents say devotion to Dorje Shugden is a long and established tradition in Bhutan, and that this is backed up by recently-examined texts written some two hundred years ago by Zhabdrung Jigme Norbu, recognised as the reincarnation of the lama who founded Bhutan, and by Drubwang Tenzin Zangpo, an earlier scholar who is still highly regarded among Bhutan’s Buddhists. By kowtowing to the CTA’s agenda, they say, Bhutan has to an extent abandoned its own traditions.

Furthermore, it would appear that the texts written by Zhabdrung Jigme Norbu and Drubwang Tenzin Zangpo refute claims that Dorje Shugden is a sectarian deity.

Even so, under apparent external pressure, including from the CTA, Bhutan’s government saw no other option than to issue an edict against Shugden devotion. As public debate on social media rages on, there are some opinions that Bhutan has taken steps to marginalise Shugden worship because it remains wary of CTA efforts to exert influence in the country and it is likely that the Shugden ban was in effect a pre-emptive step designed to eliminate the CTA’s ability to create problems by seeking to create a schism within the country.

A wave of acrimony followed the edict, as Shugden supporters protesting the undemocratic way their rights had been confiscated were met by an army of online trolls pushing the Dharamsala line. Not surprisingly, a prime target is Malaysian-based Tsem Tulku Rinpoche who posted a teaching on Bhutan’s Dorje Shugden legacy in his blog [2]. Dharamsala’s corruption of Bhutan’s spiritual integrity is reflected in the polemic attacks on Tsem Tulku carried out by what appears to be members of Bhutan’s monastic community. This is reminiscent of the CTA’s use of Tibetan monasteries to declare what is equivalent to jihads on Shugden practitioners. One Bhutanese Buddhist nun publicly called for Tsem Tulku’s early demise, while another monk brazenly declared having sent afflictive black magic to him. While these may be isolated incidences, it does reveal that the Dharamsala’s instructions have found enforcers in Bhutan, willing to breach Bhutan’s law to adminsiter the Dalai Lama’s edicts. This was clearly an unintended consequence, as the conflict risks damaging Bhutan’s Happiness Index, an important tool for the country to promote its “high quality tourism” industry.

Said one Delhi-based Shugden devotee, escalating attacks on the Shugden practice indicate that the peaceful haven of Bhutan has been in propaganda pushed by Dharamsala — the home of the CTA — allowing political propaganda to corrupt Buddhist spirituality. “It’s a mentality aligned with the philosophy of Myanmar Buddhists — that Buddhism and nationalism go hand in hand,” he said. “It’s a concept introduced and promulgated by the CIA in many of its proxy fights in the south-east Asian region in their efforts to co-opt spiritual Buddhism.” A tactic, he said, that the CTA in Dharamsala has willingly adopted. Bhutan’s Happiness index is currently paying the price.

Why does Bhutan’s lama Dzongsar Kyentse Rinpoche behave and dress in a way that makes people lose faith in Buddhism and it’s teachers? ? Why do some Bhutanese accuse other lamas badly when they pray to Dorje Shugden. Look at Dzongsar Kyentse Rinpoche who makes so many lose faith in Buddhism. Why doesn’t the Je Khenpo of Bhutan tell Dzongsar Kyentse to behave nicely and like a teacher? ?Why is Dzongsar Kyentse Rinpocihe friends with the evil Sogyal Rinpoche? Why does Dalai Lama keep quiet about them?

It is quite sad that Bhutan people and its monastic order decided to follow Tibetan decree of Banning Dorje Shugden, its wasn’t long ago that Bhutan people were against the Tibetans, who tried to massacre the King of Bhutan to take over this Vajrayana state.
Yet in a matter of a decade or so, Bhutan chose to follow the CTA’s advice to ban the Dorje Shugden practice.

CTA’s in the time that they implemented the Dorje Shugden, has seen it status demoted, new Tibetans no longers use their facilities in Dharamsala, as none are coming, it is losing friendship from the worlds countries and etc. Hope the same will not be of the Bhutanese people, but hope they will check more and learn more before they follow decrees from the CTA. CTA in Dharamsala is always up to no good, and can only lead Bhutan people to a dead end.

For the first time available, Dorje Shugden and his entourage of 32 asssistants of his mandala.

Dorje Shugden is a powerful protector deity who is also an emanation of Manjushri, a wisdom bestowing Buddha. Therefore, he has great ability to help us to progress further on the spiritual path. He does this by helping us to overcome obstacles and problems for the modern individual.

Due to his enlightened nature, Dorje Shugden is able to manifest 32 deities and within the same abode resides Setrap and Kache Marpo:-

    1. 5 Dorje Shugden families or emanations. They consists of the following:-

    – Dulzin Dorje Shugden, which performs activities to eliminate inner and outer obstacles.
    – Shize, which performs activities to pacify all illnesses and disease.
    – Gyenze, which performs activities to increase all desirable material and spiritual wealth.
    – Wangze, which performs activities to control difficult people and circumstances.
    – Trakze, which performs activities to wrathfully eliminate all insurmountable obstacles and life-threatening situations.

    2. 9 Mothers. They represent protection of the five senses and developing control of the four elements. These are all attributes that signify their ability to assist tantric practitioners with their higher meditations.

    3. 8 Guiding Monks. They represent the Eight Great Bodhisattvas (Avalokitesvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Samantabhadra, Maitreya, Kshitigarbha, Akashagarbha, Sarva-nivarana-viskambini) and they bring about the growth of the Dharma, through the Sangha, Dharma practitioners and Dharma establishments.

    4. 10 Youthful & Wrathful Attendants. They represent the ten wrathful attendants to avert inner and outer obstacles. They are beings who are from Mongolia, China, Kashmir, India, Bengali, etc.

    5. Setrap. He is a senior Dharma Protector from India and an emanation of Amitabha Buddha. He had enthroned Dorje Shugden as an authentic Dharma Protector. Therefore, he also resides within the same mandala of Dorje Shugden.

    6. Kache Marpo. He is not an emanation of Dorje Shugden but he is still an enlightened Dharma Protector in his own right. He was originally known as Tsiu Marpo of Samye Monastery. However, he has placed himself under the service of Dorje Shugden as his chief minister, performing many activities in order to protect and benefit practitioners. Therefore, he stands guard at the main entrance of Dorje Shugden’s mandala. He often takes trance of qualified mediums to speak.

His Holiness the 10th Panchen Lama

Tibetans commonly refer to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama as the “sun and moon” of Tibetan Buddhism. They are the center of Tibetan Buddhist civilization, which draws to its sphere of influence millions of non-Tibetan practitioners. The Panchen Lama’s incarnation line began with the 16th abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen (1570 – 1662). He was bestowed the title of Panchen Lama by His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama after being declared as an emanation of Amitabha.

After being given the title, his three previous incarnations were posthumously also bestowed the title, making Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen the 4th Panchen Lama. He became a teacher to many Tibetans, Bhutanese and Mongolian religious figures, including His Holiness the 4th and 5th Dalai Lamas, and the 1st Jetsun Dampa of Mongolia. A prolific author, Chokyi Gyeltsen is credited with over a hundred compositions, including a number of commentaries and ritual texts that remain central in the Gelukpa tradition today. Along with his role as a teacher of the Dharma, the Panchen Lamas are usually responsible for the recognition of the rebirths of the Dalai Lamas, and vice versa.

The 10th Panchen Lama, Lobsang Trinley Lhundrub Chokyi Gyeltsen (19 February 1938 – 28 January 1989) continued both the spiritual and political roles of his predecessors. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, his contemporary, was even heard to say and echo the Panchen Lama’s own words that the Dalai Lama would safeguard Tibet from the outside while the Panchen Lama would safeguard Tibet from the inside, as he never left Tibet after the political troubles of 1959. He was truly loved by the Tibetans, all the way until his passing. When he taught, thousands of people would attend, not only from his own Gelug lineage, but masters and practitioners from all traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.

At his sprawling monastery of Tashi Lhunpo, he has a special chapel specifically dedicated to Dorje Shugden, where prayers and rituals are performed on a daily basis. In his great omniscience the Panchen Lama held Dorje Shugden as the principal Dharma protector of the monastery. He also personally propitiated Dorje Shugden among other Dharma protectors, and even wrote extensive prayers and rituals to Dorje Shugden. These rituals and prayers are contained within his ‘sung bum’ or collected works, which are provided here. As such a great lama, with an erudite and clear understanding of the Buddhist scriptures, a teacher to millions in both Tibet and China, from an established incarnation line and an emanation of the Buddha Amitabha, he could not be mistaken about his practice of Dorje Shugden.

His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama is known for his composition of commentaries and practice texts that are still in use by contemporary Buddhist practitioners both in Tibet and across the world. One of these is a powerful ritual composition propitiating the compassionate Dorje Shugden.

Upon the request by Acharya Lobsang Jangchub to compose a shorter version of the prayer (sadhana) for the exhortation of activities of Dorje Shugden, Panchen Lama immediately composed an abbreviate form of Dorje Shugden’s Kangsol. This text is entitled “Manjunatha’s (Tsongkapa) Lineage protector Dorje Shugden and five forms wrathful propitiations and confessional prayers and fulfilment of activities rites” or “Melodious sound of Accomplishment of the Four Activities” for short. Once the prayers were completed, he had signs and strong feelings that Dorje Shugden has been working hard to protect the Buddhadharma in general and the lineage of Lama Tsongkhapa specifically.

Mirroring the abilities of one of his earlier incarnations, Khedrub Je, a disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa and master of both sutra and tantra, the Panchen Lama used his compositional skill and poetic prowess to create a masterful sadhana. Worthy of note is a praise in which the first letter of each verse is a Tibetan vowel. Such compositions are rarely seen, and have historically only been used when propitiating senior Dharma protectors such as Palden Lhamo and Kalarupa.

The Panchen Lama also stated that while composing the Dorje Shugden sadhana (prayers) he was filled with a sense of happiness and bliss. He ends the composition with not only his official title but his ordination name, Tenzin Trinley Jigme Choje Wangchuk, endorsing the validity of his work. He composed the sadhana in his own Tashi Lhunpo monastery while in the Hall of Clear Light and Bliss.

    Dear Kecharians and friends,

Last night, I gave a teaching to a group of people who were in Kechara Forest Retreat. I shared with them the correct way to pray for our loved ones and why we shouldn’t “demand” Dorje Shugden with fulfilling our wishes but let Dorje Shugden decide what is the best outcome. He has infinite Manjushri wisdom beyond our own and we should trust this wisdom. Sometimes what we pray for is not what should be fulfilled. Sometimes what we don’t want turns out to be the better result in the future.

I also shared with them about a beautiful monk, Tsawa Pulthok Rinpoche, who was jailed and badly tortured by the soldiers for 19 years, starting back in 1959 in Lhasa, and yet he has no anger towards his torturers. He was released and had resettled in Nepal where I met him. For the remainder of his life, he spent his time in meditation, retreats and pujas for the public until he passed. He was glowing, happy and very proud of the fact he was a student of His Holiness Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche, which he told me when we met. He did full meditations on Vajra Yogini and short puja to Dorje Shugden daily in his small room in Kathmandu, Nepal where I had to honor to join in his prayers. He told me he was very happy to have his room to do his meditations, pujas and prayers openly. Whatever happened to him, he accepted as part of his karma and he spent much time in prison meditating and quietly teaching dharma to his other cellmates. He was very much respected in prison in Lhasa because he never showed anger, always meditated and consoled others, giving them great strength. He endured much hardship, torture and beatings but he never lost his monk vows. His full understanding of karma helped him not feel any anger or bitterness towards the soldiers. He told me that daily, he would meditate that the karma of others in prison would come to him. That all the torture and abuse he received was so others in prison did not have to suffer this. He said suffering for others was what kept him going and made him be able to endure the pain.

We are not bound by our experiences. We are bound by our choice. I also reminded those were present about the good person inside each and every one of us, and how we should not “bury” this good person with our excuses because the more excuses we give, the deeper this good person is buried and soon the layers of excuses will make it very difficult for us to find this good person. We are all beautiful good people and we should not let it get lost by lying, laziness, lack of integrity and procrastination. We all have a choice. If we have to make excuses, we should choose to make excuses to be a winner. When we win, we make ourselves happy and those around us happy.

The teaching session went well and it was spontaneous, and I requested the people who live and work in and around Kechara Forest Retreat for the talk. We had some good laughs to during the talk.

    Thank you,
    Tsem Rinpoche

‘If we trust in karma which exists, then there is no reason for anger’.

“If the Dalai Lama, if His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by Dorje Shugden, then we might as well not practice Buddhism anymore. If His Holiness the Dalai Lama can have his life shortened by a so-called evil spirit, any evil spirit, then can he be Avalokiteshvara? So on one hand you say, we say, I say, everybody says, he is Avalokiteshvara; on the other hand you’re saying that he can harmed by an evil spirit… Which one is it? Can he harmed by an evil spirit or is he Avalokiteshvara? Do you think Avalokiteshvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Tara all take refuge in something else to protect themselves from Dorje Shugden? How illogical is that? How illogical of people to say His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by an evil spirit, any evil spirit or “Dorje Shugden” evil spirit. How is that possible?” – Tsem Tulku Rinpoche

Listening to the chanting of sacred words, melodies, mantras, sutras and prayers has a very powerful healing effect on our outer and inner environments. It clears the chakras, spiritual toxins, the paths where our ‘chi’ travels within our bodies for health as well as for clearing the mind. It is soothing and relaxing but at the same time invigorates us with positive energy. The sacred sounds invite positive beings to inhabit our environment, expels negative beings and brings the sound of growth to the land, animals, water and plants. Sacred chants bless all living beings on our land as well as inanimate objects. Do download and play while in traffic to relax, when you are about to sleep, during meditation, during stress or just anytime. Great to play for animals and children. Share with friends the blessing of a full Dorje Shugden puja performed at Kechara Forest Retreat by our puja department for the benefit of others. Tsem Rinpoche

First of all, I am very shocked at how this nun reacts. A nun is supposed to be compassionate and respectful to everyone but here she swears and curses people of another faith. No one has done anything bad to her, why is she so angersome? I don’t think there are many Dorje Shugden followers in Bhutan, did she have any bad experience with Dorje Shugden followers?

Let’s no talk about religion, as a normal human being, we don’t swear and curse another person just because we don’t agree with what they believe.

If we are still thinking CTA only poisons Tibetans minds, no, not at all. Look at this Bhutanese, how angry she is when she knows one of the high lamas in their country propitiated and made prayer to Dorje Shugden. CTA’s propaganda to smear Dorje Shugden followers is very successful. They create conflict among people and make people hate each other. How I wish they can use the same effort to get their country back or bring a better future to the Tibetans in exile. What a shame.

Here we see a Bhutanese woman confirming that His Holiness the 4th Zhabdrung Rinpoche wrote prayers to Dorje Shugden. At first people did not believe that Zhabdrung Rinpoche actually composed the prayers, but people went to check with their monastic authorities, and they confirmed that the prayers were real. Before this, she had vehemently said that there were no such prayers and that she would go to check and then prove that the prayers were false. She must have gone to check and ask about Zhabdrung Rinpoche’s prayers to Dorje Shugden. As we said, the prayers are real but she still cannot accept the fact, even with all the proof.

Some Bhutanese feel like they cannot openly acknowledge that the article on Zhabdrung Rinpoche’s composition of prayers to Dorje Shugden is true, because it would mean that the Je Khenpo and Bhutanese sold and betrayed their own lineage. So even though they now admit that they prayers are real, they keep saying that he is just a minor deity and in any case, the Je Khenpo banned the practice. But if Dorje Shugden was just a minor deity, why would both Zhabdrung Rinpoche and Drubwang Tenzin Zangpo have composed such extensive prayers to Dorje Shugden? If Bhutan’s founding fathers like Zhabdrung Rinpoche promoted the practice of Dorje Shugden, why is someone like the Je Khenpo, whose position was originally created by the 1st Zhabdrung Rinpoche, banning the practice? Why do they want to go against what Zhabdrung Rinpoche did? If they do that, why do not they ban the entire country of Bhutan, because he founded that too.

They also claim that thangkas of Zhabdrung Rinpoche with Dorje Shugden are fake. However, there is no such thing as a fake thangka, because when someone has faith, they commission it, place it on their shrine and accept it. How can a thangka be fake when it has been individually commissioned? There is no rule or guideline what someone can or cannot put on a thangka. It is up to a person’s personal choice. That means there is no such thing as a fake thangka.

This woman came back on social media and confessed that the prayers are real. Even though she was still shocked, angry and dismayed, she told the truth. She could have kept quiet but she did not. Through all her debates and denials, she still had the honesty to leave a comment and admit that the prayers were real. When people can accept something, even though it may make them uncomfortable or angry, it means that they are practicing the Dharma. Dorje Shugden was practiced by the 4th Zhabdrung, and even though it may be an uncomfortable thought to some, it is clear and proven to be the case.

I find it extremely refreshing that Dorje Shugden practitioners who suffered so much from discrimination and segregation and are still suffering so, like Martin Chow has the patience to so kindly give such a well informed and ethically “nice” article about the Bhutanese nun, Jamyang Choden.

What impacted me is the “powerful” and engaging methods by which CTA has influenced the world against Dorje Shugden in order to meet their agenda of creating a scapegoat for their non performance on all their promises to the Tibetan people.

Somehow, I feel that CTA has squandered a lot of the international donations to facilitate their propaganda machine. Imagine if such finances are used to propagate the Universal truth of the Dharma, how many will be benefitted from liberation of suffering. Instead more sufferings are inflicted with the same financial resources.

Nun Jamyang Choden has also imparted me strongly with her declaration of such hateful cursing on H.E. Tsem Rinpoche of whom she has not even had the good fortune of being acquainted. What was on her mind to forget her monastic vows and to curse like she did.

Not only had she not conducted herself worthy of her stature within a monastic order but also as a honourable citizen of Bhutan, whose King gauges the success of his country with the happiness and loving kindness. When there is so much hate in Jamyang Choden there is no loving kindness.

Last but not least is why on earth did Jamyang Choden change her picture on her facebook. Out of remorse and guilt or instructed to do so by CTA out of embarassment.

Whatever her agenda, I pray to Dorje Shugden for the purification of her negative karma for cursing a pure monk on an open and public platform.

All religions, cultures and beliefs deserve the same amount of respect even they are different from each and every one of us. Have tremendous respect for all faiths and beliefs.
For the nun Jamyang Choden who has expressed such a comment in Tsem Rinpoche FaceBook is really shocking. How could she do that in such a manner cursed a person to die. Whether she is nun or not she should not cursed anyone . If she do not agree to what or whatever just leave and move on the next chapter .Just because she cannot accept the truth and reality of the history of Bhutan’s great lineage masters and Dorje Shugden. She wrote such a comment which is actually harming to herself as a nun, or as a Buddhist or non-religious. The truth is H H Zhabdrung Rinpoche did composed prayers to Dorje Shugden, that’s in reality and cannot be hidden after research work done supported by evidence.
THE TRUTH IS THE TRUTH nobody can denied it.
Since the ban against Dorje Shugden which is instituted by the Tibetan Leadership ( CTA ), many Dorje Shugden practitioners has suffered discrimination and so forth. Instead of using donations to help the people , the CTA , have spent millions on campaigns, websites, pamphlets and books against Dorje Shugden. Telling lies and spreading what is not true to cause disharmony and disunity .
May Jamyang Choden realised her wrong doings and be on the correct path . Not following blindly reading what the CTA reports without doing research . She is one of those many examples of anti Dorje Shugden who has show anger, hatred messages , all because of CTA spreading the pack of lies and untrue nature.
May HH Dalai Lama please lift the ban on Dorje Shugden , as the CTA is causing more sufferings ,pain discrimination among the communities.
(The essence of all religions is one, their approaches are different once said by Mahatma Gandhi.)
Thank you Rinpoche and Martin Chow for this sharing

This nun or rather fake nun is just another product of CTA, a tool for them to use in their propaganda of brainwashing, destabilise the life of Tibetans and non Tibetans, politicising religion and labelling beliefs as good or bad and use this as an excuse to discriminate, segregate, being violent and in this particular case, this nun is using social media to spread hatred and vulgarities just because my guru practise Dorje Shugden, a deity disapproved by CTA and people who practise Dorje Shugden is labelled as anti Dalai Lama. Where is the democracy that CTA claimed themselves as? Where is the religion freedom that His Holiness Dalai Lama always promote?

Whether this nun is real or not, such conduct on social media gives a very bad name to Sangha community, nowadays people will not go and investigate whether u’re a real nun or not, but when people see a nun wearing robes swearing and cursing another sangha member, people instantly lose faith in the Buddha Dharma. A Sangha community supposed to be a support system for both Sangha and lay person, lay person look up to the Sangha because they are the inspiration for many spiritual seekers, they are the icon of love, compassion, forgiving and tolerance. This nun Jamyang Choden is just one of the puppets CTA has created, it’s also the reason why we Kechara has to fight the unjust ban because too many unnecessary sufferings and sacrifice arose due to this ban.

I was caught by surprise from the Bhutanese. There is so much swearing and cursing comments left on our beloved Guru “His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s Facebook which I felt unjustified and sad.
Our Guru is a highly attained Lama and was ordained by His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama and yet just an article tells the history of one of Bhutan’s great lineage masters, His Holiness the 4th Zhabdrung Rinpoche Jigme Norbu and his writings about Dorje Shugden had caused such issue.
Bhutan is a religious freedom country, but when it comes to Dorje Shugden practice, the Bhutanese were very reluctant to accept the fact of his Founding Father is connected to Dorje Shugden. Ironically, why the Bhutanese wants to be a copycat of Central Tibetan Administration (CTA)?
Look at what happened to Tibet now, CTA supposed to be taking care of Tibetan welfare. However, instead of doing their job, they are busy creating turmoil among the Tibetan by banning Dorje Shugden practice, ‘which they are not supposed to do that as Tibet is a democratic country that practice religious freedom’.
As the result of their incapability to manage Tibet, many countries such as Switzerland, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Italy and Sweden has no longer accept the IC (Identity Certificate), issued by the government of India, and classifies its holder as both a Tibetan refugee and a protectorate of India. Tibetans wishing to enter the said countries will have to bear the identity documentation of an actual nation, like India or China.

Hence, my simple advise to the Bhutanese is just do your research before, invades and condemn about the articles (https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/buddhas-dharma/the-4th-zhabdrung-rinpoche-of-bhutan-and-dorje-shugden.html) shared by my Guru.
Remember, condemnation before investigation is the height of ignorance.
Don’t let your ignorance conquer you.

Thank you Martin for bringing up this overwhelming incident to everyone’s attention, where a nun called Jamyang Choden disparaged a highly attained Lama, who is our respected Guru, His Eminence the 25th Tsem Tulku Rinpoche. Although Jamyang Choden has never seen or communicated with our Guru and physically stay 1838 miles distance away from Bhutan, Jamyang Choden openly cursed our Guru to death with hatred and full of ignorance. This alarming incident is mainly because of the official ban of Dorje Shugden as proclaimed by Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) since 1996. The damaging works against the 400-year-old holy Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden created by CTA is considered a huge destruction to Buddhism entirely, which is similar to a wildly spread fire destroying the entire forest that takes thousands of years to grow from ground zero. Many people are being misguided by CTA that it is okay for anyone including Buddhists to insult and act vulgarly to Dorje Shugden practitioners. This is totally a wrong view and against Buddha’s teachings. There is no legislative law and no religion practice that allow anyone, especially someone like Jamyang Choden, who is a nun and supposingly to act in accordance to Buddha’s teachings and good moral values, but to curse someone to death. Hence, this is the latest evidence that shows the extremely negative effects owing to the ban of Dorje Shugden as there should be religious freedom supported by every government in this world but sadly, except the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA). Our world does not need further discrimination, hatred, vulgarity and other negativity because of the difference in religion practice as the advancement of current technology has pulled many people away from spirituality and religious practice.

May the ever compassionate His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama lift the ban of Dorje Shugden quickly to stop the sufferings endured by many Dorje Shugden practitioners and allow Buddhism to grow to the ten directions continuously and smoothly.

    Humbly with folded hands,

May she be able to continue to practise and have realisation. Not blinded by hatred, anger, ignorance and confusion.

At a first glance i thought she is a fashion model with red hair. Then later only i realized she is a nun in maroon robe. But then again with another picture that she posted wearing lay clothings is very confusing. Anyway, if she is a sangha then she should know her vows and facts not to curse a Tulku or any lay person to death for practicing Dorje Shugden or any other religious practice. It is very very bad for her too! And is really sad to hear… ?Thank you Rinpoche and Martin for sharing this happening from facebook. ????

  44. Lin Mun on Jul 1, 2018 at 10:24 pm

It is very shocking to read the curse from a nun. I can never imagine a nun who is supposed to hold vows speaks so harshly and curse another high lamas which in this case our Guru just because he practises Dorje Shugden.

There is nothing wrong to have different belief but unfortunately, CTA has planted all these negative and untrue story to the people for more than 2 decades. Many people react negatively and violently towards Dorje Shugden practitioners. But why? Can’t they investigate the root of the issue before agreeing with the CTA?

If we are true Buddhism practitioners we should not create any hatred, harm and suffering to others. Instead we should promote and act towards compassion, love, peace and harmony.

May this nun and others who has been brain washed by CTA to quickly wake up and be aware of their actions. Stop following the message given blindly without investigation.

  45. Freon on Jul 1, 2018 at 8:43 am

It is very sad to see how a nun could do such damage to herself and to other people by cursing. In normal human being manner, people do not curse other people especially to stranger. This nun Jamyang Choden surely do not know about H.E Tsem Rinpoche, thus, what make her become so rude and full of hatred. She obviously being brain wash by some propaganda and sadly, she surely do not study deep enough on Buddhism. Where the vow of a sangha member is very strict to be hold.

From here, we could see how ignorance and blind believe could be harmful to us. Simply because of the propaganda from CTA, the Vajrayana Buddhism is in chaos. It is so clear when H.E Tsem Rinpoche publishes about Dorje Shugden on social media, instead of read those articles and check the source, they select to just believe what have CTA said. I think the reason is simple, they bow down to the CTA more than Buddha.
(“They “here refer to anyone who practice in Vajrayana buddhism but believe in CTA )

Dorje Shugden is the protector of Lama Tsongkhapa lineage, if the ban is not lifted. The lineage of Lama Tsongkhapa could be in danger where people are fear to practice. Hope the CTA know what are they doing. How much damage they have cause in people spiritual study. Further, It is very serious if Dorje Shugden’ban is not lifted properly. Where we can now see how the fear in practice Buddhism. At some point, people would just think that Buddhism is creating a lot of blind believe. And this could affect entire Buddhist sect, not just in Vajrayana.

It’s shocking to hear this from a nun really. I mean we are used to the type of vulgarities and death threats people would normally post onto Rinpoche’s posts but this is just something we call brought to a new low.

What this nun have done is a classic example of how naive Tibetans / to a certain extent most can be when it comes to belief. They don’t check and will jump into conclusions due to here say. Probably due to the fact they are not too exposed to education and the environment of wanting to find out more and do their own research.

Many through my observation just jump to their own shallow conclusion and have that “whatever CTA says is true”. Many of them go for vulgarity and blatant disregard of respect for Sangha behaviour when it comes to argument. Sad reality really.

I hope all of them including this nun to really understand the need to go check out the facts and not let their insecurity sets in. The nun is a very bad example for Buddhist if not for The Dalai Lama and His Holiness’ representatives.

  47. nicholas on Jun 30, 2018 at 11:30 pm

Jamyang Choden is one of the classic example that blindly being influenced by the Tibetan leadership with hatred, anger and discrimination towards Dorje Shugden practitioners. How bad it affected her? Even a nun like her had forgotten that she had a vows to uphold. Instead of showing compassion it turn out with ill wishes to wish someone to be in hell. This is how ironic Tibetan leadership turn their people’s mind to create separation and disharmony just to protect their selfish reasoning of failing their people in bringing Tibetan back to their homeland.

There is no problem in this world for people disagree with anyone belief because everyone will have their own preference and what they feel comfortable to them. What the beauty of successful country/leaders despite the differences preferences of their people, is their government respect and adhere strongly religious freedom and human rights of their people to maintain peace, harmony and most of all unity of the people.

This is obviously unable to be achieved by Tibetan leadership as up to now we can see clearly and up to this very moment they still creating schism and attacking on people’s social media wall even people doesn’t know them but just because you are a Dorje Shugden practitioners.

Tibetan leadership doesn’t seem like a democracy as what the claim at all and the world are watching!

  48. Sharon Ong on Jun 30, 2018 at 5:59 pm

It is shocking and sad to see a nun using her Dharma knowledge to spew such a vile curse on a fellow Sangha. The thing is, there are so many different belief systems today. Instead of finding faults in the differences and trying to assert holier than thou “advice”, why not celebrate the similar values? Instead of focusing on telling others how wrong their demon worship is, isn’t it better to just pray for their salvation?

The smear campaign by the Tibetan government-in-exile (CTA) is so successful that even people in Bhutan are buying into their misinformation demonizing Dorje Shugden. I am not even Tibetan but have also been labelled as a spirit worshipper by Bhutanese who don’t even know me.

BUT more people are seeing the truth behind this undemocratic ban as CTA’s way to cover for their failure to regain their country. Dorje Shugden is a very convenient scapegoat but for how long? There are already many signs that time’s running out for CTA. Even HH the Dalai Lama has expressed that he wishes to go back to Tibet which means that HH accepts that Tibet is part of China and CTA should respect their spiritual leader’s wishes. In this article, HH said “We are not seeking independence… We want to stay with China. We want more development.” – https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/tibet-wants-to-stay-with-china-says-dalai-lama/articleshow/61775261.cms

Time for CTA to stop blaming a Dharma Protector for their own failure and take responsibility. The ban is in actual fact hurting the Tibet cause. No country would want to support a government who proclaims democracy but oppresses its own people based on religious believes. This oppression is a violation of the fundamental human right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion. Logically, would anyone want to back government-in-exile that’s not only unstable but violates human rights?

Thank you Martin for writing this. On a daily basis, whenever my Guru Tsem Rinpoche share anything on social media, be it Dorje Shugden related or not, Rinpoche’s post received many nasty comments, many with vulgar & foul language, while some with curse. Whenever we engage them to discuss about the topic, many times we were cursed and harassed as well.

This may be a surprise to you, but many of these people who curse and swear, are from Bhutan, the supposedly one of the most happy countries in the world. What make it worse, is some of these people are monk and nun!! We all know monks and nuns hold vows. When they do such cursing and harassment, have they forgotten their vows? Didn’t they teach kindness, acceptance and compassionate in monasteries?

We are not asking you to accept my religion. In fact, it is perfectly OK that you don’t agree with my religion. However, you must understand that we have our freedom to practice, and whatever I practice, provided I don’t break the law of my country, you should respect it. Just like I don’t agree with some other religions, but that does not give me the rights to go to their house and curse them.

When I ask other Bhutanese if it is OK to curse and harass others, some Bhutanese really think it is justifiable because we promote Dorje Shugden. It clearly shows me that some (or may be most?) Bhutanese do not understand the concept of Democracy and Freedom of Religion, even though it is stated very clearly in their constitution. It is such a sad state, because Bhutan has been hailed as one country who practice Democracy, but from what we can see here, it is the opposite. Further discussion with them lead me to realise that many Bhutanese do not think for themselves and they only listen to the religious leaders blindly, much like the feudal systems of the old times.

It is really sad to see that Buddhism has degenerated into such low ground. I know deep down in my heart that Buddhism is not like this, and all this happened because people want to use religion to control the public.

I find that I am extremely fortunate to be able to learn under my Guru, Tsem Rinpoche, who always encourage us to ask, think and contemplate the Dharma, instead of just blindly following it. From this episode, I am determined to spread Dorje Shugden, who is Manjushri in nature, to the world, so that people can gain wisdom, and such disputes and anger can be much reduced.

  50. Ashamed of Bhutan sangha on Jun 30, 2018 at 3:07 pm

This is disgusting. This nun needs to be reported to the Bhutanese authorities immediately. Must lodge reports to the institution she belongs to unless she is no longer a nun which will not be surprising looking at her distorted behaviour. But must let the police know.

  51. Julia Tan on Jun 30, 2018 at 1:39 pm

Thank you Martin for written this article. I hope many will read and wake up from their poisoned mind. Mind that have been poisoned by CTA for the last 20 years. So much has been destroyed for the last 20 years. So much energy and resources used by CTA just to boycott Dorje Shugden so that to cover their failure of freeing Tibet!

So successful is the CTA’s hate campaign against Dorje Shugden that, even when genuine historical facts are presented, many people of Bhutan deny it and are even willing to renounce their own lineage master just to be “politically correct”.

The statement above is so correct! Nevermind you don’t like my protector, never mind you don’t like my Guru, nevermind you don’t like me but please behave because you are wearing your robes! You represent Buddha Dharma and we will not allow you to damage the Dharma.

Many people told me, we are Buddhists so just let the karma do it’s part for the people who participated in this “hate Dorje Shugden campaign”, we do not have to react to it… The karma will do its part that’s for sure, I have no doubt. But if we see many people suffer out there due to this hatred made up by CTA and do nothing about it and sit back, then we are no different from those who see someone dying in front of you, you take photos and post on social media instead of saving this person’s life..

Just because we are living in beautiful Malaysia, where we have religious freedom doesn’t mean we should have the attitude of allowing others to suffer.

  52. Pastor Henry Ooi on Jun 30, 2018 at 1:26 pm

It’s really amazing that some people force their opinion on other people’s page and make filthy remarks. But on their own page, they post holy pictures and write holy words. Doesn’t add up.

Not only are these people disrespectful, rude, disgusting, they’re also highly judgmental and opinionated. What they don’t like, they don’t have to see or read or listen. But they don’t have to express their view in such a bad manner. If others were to comment bad things on their page, they would not like it. But other people are not like them because if others were to do so then they would be worse than those who write nasty comments.

Why would a so called ‘nun’ wishes for someone to die and go to hell? Why would anyone wish that when they don’t even know the other person? Strange. If this ‘nun’ is real then she has brought shame and dishonour to her gurus and nunnery. If she’s a fake then all fingers point towards the Tibetan leadership. CTA started the hate campaign against Dorje Shugden practice – the results are not just these hate messages by their followers or monetary-paid followers, but worse still are the segregation and break up of families of Dorje Shugden practitioners. Where is the love, compassion, tolerance? Where is the religious freedom since the CTA claim they are a democratic government in exile? My opinion – CTA never wanted their people to be free, but to remain bound in shackles to CTA. It’s all about politics, the greed for power and money.

  53. Stella Cheang on Jun 30, 2018 at 10:30 am

By now, after many articles from Rinpoche’s blog that are well researched and clearly articulated, we understand that Dorje Shugden practice is legit and authentic. There is no harm nor malice about this practice in any ways. However, on the other hand, the CTA/Dharamsala had shamefully ascribed unsubstantiated lies and unlawful ban on Dorje Shugden to cover up their political failures; read “A Sad State of Affair” in Rinpoche’s blog for reference. The decades of propaganda and brainwashing had produced many what the normal world would called “terrorist” – people who use unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims. Jamyang Choden, nun or not, is an example among the many other examples demonstrated by the Tibetan and Bhutanese community against Shugdenpas. It is really a shame that terrorism is now widespread in the so-called tolerant and peaceful Buddhist community.Worse of all, this terrorism is a product of CTA/Dharamsala. I believe many are shocked when they read that now vulgarities, strong foul languages and curses towards high lama are now vernacular of Buddhist sanghas and lay people. Sad!

    • Jones on Jun 30, 2018 at 12:21 pm

@Stella Cheang, You have summed it up very well. The Tibetan government regime in exile has created Buddhist terrorists to hurt others and threaten others who oppose their views. This ‘nun’ Jamyang Choden is one of the terrorists. They encourage others to use threats and violence against people who speak up and speak the truth. They are not a democracy. They only say they are a democracy to look good to keep the free aid money from the west rolling in to fill their pockets. There is NO RELIGIOUS FREEDOM in the Tibetan communities in India at all. Shame!

This so-called ‘nun’ Jamyang Choden should be reported to the Bhutanese police. Her picture and comment should be plastered all over social media because SHE IS WANTING SOMEONE TO DIE. She is disgusting and a disgrace to the nun-hood, disgrace to Buddhism and disgrace to human beings. Shame.

What kind of ‘nun’ this Jamyang Choden is when her new picture on her FB page is with long hair and makeup. She changed the picture suddenly to hide her identity. She has makeup on her eyebrows. She is a fake nun and taking people’s offerings to support her fake nun ways. She must be reported.

She wants others do die because they practice Dorje Shugden? Where is religious freedom? She is sick. She is evil. She must be reported.

      • Stella Cheang on Jun 30, 2018 at 12:36 pm

I agree that disciplinary actions should be taken first and foremost by her Guru and monastery if she is a nun for her malice, terrorist ways which are against Buddhist teachings. But more importantly actions by the local authorities to ensure the safety and security of people she made death threat against. It will be shocking to the world if reports are made against this person (Jamyang Choden) but the authorities do not take action. It would mean that Bhutan authorities sided and agreed with terrorist activities.

The concept of rebirth has a long association with Buddhism. Rebirth in Buddhism refers to the teaching that the actions of a sentient being lead to a new existence after death, in an endless cycle called saṃsāra. One will begins a new life in a new body that may be human, animal or spiritual depending on the moral quality of the previous life’s actions. What they are reborn as depends on their actions in their previous life rather kamma. As a Buddhist we should believe in rebirth but still many people don’t . Buddha taught us that choices of rebirth make a difference and can shape many lifetimes. Buddhists believe that nothing that exists is permanent and everything will ultimately cease to be. Against the odds two inspiring nuns fought all the way to become ordained, fighting for their rights to practice Buddhism . Interesting read of how they went through , bringing equality for women in Thailand. Buddhism is the predominant religion in Thailand. Officially, only men can become monks and novices in Thailand under a Buddhist order. The country does not recognize female monks or novices. In recent years, more Thai Buddhist women seeking to become full-fledged female monks, have been defying the tradition getting ordained overseas, in Sri Lanka or India. Buddhist women have been fighting for years for equality and social acceptance in Thailand. They just can’t be ordained by Thai monks. Ven. Dhammananda, 68 year old former university lecturer and activist became Thailand’s first Theravadin bhikkhuni after going the odds. Inspiring read biography on Ven. Dhammananda and Ven. Dr. Lee. They had gone through great hardships, discrimination and against the many odds in bringing equality to women in Buddhism in Thailand.

The unseen things are spiritual realities that are eternal and invisible to our physical eye. There are many forces and phenomena that are not visible to the naked eye. There are many things that humans cannot see yet there are some could see. For what is can be seen is only. Things do exist even we can’t see, believing their existence is our choice. Things that we can’t see in the world opens up a curiosity and exploration by some. Whether through scientific inquiry, or spiritual exploration, the pursuit of knowledge about the unseen can lead to profound insights about ourselves and the universe.
Malacca City is the historic capital of the coastal state of Malacca, in Malaysia serving as a link between east and west for over 500 years. Famous for breath-taking sights with rich heritage, ancient dark culture and history with many old centuries buildings with an interesting past and a colourful ghost story. For that reason alone it is worth visiting as is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site owing to its well-preserved historical center. There’s many historical mansions been passed down generation to generations and with many ghostly sighting by the locals and visitors. There’s the reason many unseen beings loitering and attached to these places. Such an interesting and incredibly creepy watching the video in this blog host by Li Kim. Li Kim had done a great work all along with her team to share with readers about our historic Malacca .

Vajrayogini symbolizes the wisdom of all enlightened beings and embodies the impulse of inspiration that drives the Buddhas to attain the perfect enlightenment. Vajrayogini is one of the most effective practices for people today. We can make offerings such as gold or jewel offerings and so on. The offering of gold helps us to collect merits, spiritual attainments, gain a deeper connection to Vajrayogini. It also creates the causes to attain a Buddha’s body.
Make Offerings to Vajrayogini in Kechara Forest Retreat at Bentong is such an meritorious way for us to collect merits. All thanks to our Guru having conceptualised the idea of having a statue of Vajrayogini for everyone . Recitation of Vajrayogini mantra can be a powerful tool for self-transformation, healing and liberation from samsara.

Thank you, Rinpoche for sharing this insightful article. Life is short, and if we enjoy every moment of every day, then we will be happy no matter what happens or what changes along the way. What ever matter to us at the time of death is nothing. In the end, it’s not the years in our life that count it’s what you leave behind that matters. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again.Death is the golden key that opens the palace of eternity. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time. Learning Dharma and practicing dharma is the our choice that’s matter. Some of the key points to take notes, read, study the Lam Rim and apply it, engage in Sadhana daily and consistently. No one will help us at the moment of death but ourselves. Spiritual practicing is the best choice.

Well the size of Buddha statues in Tibetan Buddhism is important because it represents the Buddha’s immense ability and vast knowledge. Hence the Buddha statues hold the symbol of satisfaction within, peace and happiness. They are a symbol of inspiration for every human being. When we focus on the Buddha statues, it gives us inner peace that our mind, our heart and our soul gets enlightened.
We have are so fortunate seeing and circumambulating where the 9-foot Dorje Shugden statue and with 500 mantra stones engraved with Dorje Shugden’s sacred mantra. As Rinpoche had said before the bigger and more Buddha statues helps in planting seeds of enlightenment in people’s mind-streams. It also help us to generate as much merit and purify as much karma as possible. Merely by seeing all those big statues at Kechara Forest Retreat is a blessing.

The 4th Tagpu Pemavajra Jampel Tenpai Ngodrub, most commonly known as Tagpu Dorje Chang, was a highly accomplished yogi Highly attained lama who had many authentic visions of the Buddhas and even travel astrally to receive direct teachings from them. His recognised line of incarnations stem all the way back to the 14th Century. He is generally regarded as such amongst Gelug lineage holders. He spent most of his time in a hermitage located above Sera Monastery, gave teachings and transmitted many vital practices and lineages to his foremost student Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche. Besides receiving the complete instructions of Dorje Shugden’s practice, Tagpu Dorje Chang had many other mystical experiences throughout his lifetime. n Tibetan culture, it is a popular and customary practice for families to invite monks to perform spiritual ceremonies such as Trusol rituals. The monks have had the opportunity to offer such ceremonies for individuals or their families. Such ceremonies purify the elements of the environment which helps those living or visiting there to experience good health, success and well-being. The sacred ritual of ‘bathing’ the Buddhas and consecration through which negativities, sicknesses and obstacles will be cleared. Where by filling those areas with positive energies and good vibes through this Trusol consecration puja. Water is an essential part of this puja and symbolises the cleansing of all negativities and impurities. Through this puja it also pacifies local deities and other unseen beings in the surrounding areas. We are indeed fortunate that Tsem Rinpoche has taught Kecharians this practice and it has benefited many.

Reading this post had me gain some knowledge of Shifter Werewolves. Any article regarding rare creatures or paranormal articles are of my interest since young. In European folklore, a werewolf is a man who turns into a wolf at night and devours animals, people, or corpses but returns to human form by day. They have the ability to transform from an ordinary human appearance to a partially-lupine form with pointed ears, mutton chops, claws and fangs, and a ridged brow . Wow… werewolf tends to be vicious and unable to control his blood thirst. Their underlying common origin can be traced back to Proto-Indo-European mythology. In many depictions, these bloodthirsty beasts are evil where they kill animals and innocent people. They are humans who transition into wolf-like creatures, after being placed under a curse. In folklore, most werewolves originate from being cursed or bitten by another werewolf. That’s what they do believe. According many enthusiasts, there’s many different type of werewolves such as Alpha wolves, Beta wolves , Deltas, Elders, some survive as loners while others move in packs. How true it is no one knows. I do believe their existing . Many interesting stories related to these wolves in the past history.

Beautiful Dorje Shugden at Malacca. One should pay a visit there, located at a busy tourist place. It was such an auspicious occasion that a grand Puja was held there. Dedicated students and volunteers were there getting the place ready for the grand puja. Well the Grand Dorje Shugden puja was conducted by very own Kechara puja team to commemorate the chapel’s 3rd anniversary. Many people attended the Puja that’s wonderful to receive the powerful Protector Dorje Shugden blessings. More people will make a connection and get to know Manjushri, the Buddha of Wisdom, in the form of a Dharma Protector. May Dorje Shugden’s practice flourish to benefit those tourists and locals.

Venerable Geshe Rabten Rinpoche is a highly realised meditation master known as a debater, scholar, and meditation master, was the first Tibetan Buddhist master to introduce the complete Vinaya-tradition. He had also introduce the study of the five major topics of Buddhism to the West. He became the ‘path breaker’ of the complete and complex teachings of Buddhism in the West. Many masters, who are famous in the West today, were Geshe’s students. enerable Geshe Rabten. Geshe Rabten wrote the beautiful and Manjushri’s prayer called Gangloma and gave a profound explanation. We are so fortunate to learn about this Manjushri’s sacred prayer. May all be blessed by the practice of Lord Manjushri and Geshe Rabten’s explanation.

The begging bowl or alms bowl is one of the simplest but most important objects in the daily lives of Theravada Buddhist monks. The alms bowl still stands as an emblem of how all Buddhas, as numerous as grains of sand in the Ganges, practiced to end their desire. All those who receive the alms bowl should focus their mind to act with self-control and self-respect. Almsgiving is a tradition of Theravada Buddhists, majority in Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Laos. In those early days of Buddhism, monks would take their bowls and go out begging for food. As today in Thailand one could see monks woke up before dawn every morning and carried his bowl through the roads or paths wherever he was staying. Local people would place food in the bowl as a donation, through the generosity of lay people. They accept whatever food is offered for them and eat whatever been given, serve as a blessing for the giver.
One bowl has held the food of a thousand families. A solitary monastic travels on his journey of a hundred thousand miles seeking liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
Thank you H.E. Tsem Rinpoche for explaining the meaning of begging and gave us more reasons to be vegetarian . Create a awareness among us not killing animals to be one.

Ajahn Siripanyo, the son of billionaire Ananda Krishnan, chose to abandon his inheritance and become a Buddhist monk in pursuit of spirituality. A Thai-Malaysian monk born in London and educated in UK. He was ordained in Thailand and lived there, leaving behind a life of immense wealth and privilege. He did surprised many and his choice was unexpected. Initially as a temporary measure, but somehow later evolved into a permanent way of life. Ven. Ajahn Siripanyo is now the Abbot of hermitage Dtao Dam on the Thai-Burmese border in Saiyok National Park, Thailand.
He was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia years back giving an enthralling Dhamma talk on the timeless teachings of Ajahn Chah.
Thank you Rinpoche for this inspiring sharing.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche

  • What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
