My mother had been very disappointed with her partner back in the 1960’s, and along the way she became pregnant but he was unable to marry her. And during that time it was a great stigma and great pain and great shame and embarrassment to my mother. I think when people are young, even our parents, they sometimes do things, out of the spur of the moment, which sometimes brings repercussions later. I don’t blame my mother or my father for what happened, but I understand the pain.

Kuan Mama was one of the kindest people in my life as a child

My mother comes from a royal lineage from Xinjiang, she is a princess from the royal house of Torgut, and due to the cultural revolution they have to leave Xinjiang, and eventually resettle in Taiwan. Due to the Cultural Revolution, my father had to leave Tibet, in fact he was a monk but gave his vows back later, and he also emigrated to Taiwan where there is a lot of Tibetans. My father is Tibetan, and my mother is Mongolian, and they had casually met in Taiwan, but my father already had a family back in Tibet, unknowing to my mother. So, one thing led to another, and my mother gave birth to me in secret, in Taiwan General Hospital, and it was kept very secret because it would have been a huge scandal for the family at that time. Things have changed nowadays, but things were not like that back in the 1960’s.

My mother went to school in Taiwan, and she had a very good girlfriend, her classmate, and her name is Kuan Siuhua. After my mother gave birth to me, she kept me in a Taiwanese household, and paid US$50 every month for them to watch me, but they were not doing a good job in watching me, in fact, there was a lot of abuse, beatings, not giving much food, and I myself recall always escaping from this family and went down the streets to steal money or steal food when I was very young in Taipei, when I was 5 or 6 years old.

Once in a while, this very beautiful and attractive lady with long silky hair and big smile used to come down and take me away from this family during weekends. I didn’t know who she was, I don’t know anything about her, but I just remembered that this lady used to come and take me, and she was very soft and very kind and very loving, and her family and brothers were very nice to me too, they would buy me toys, feed me, they used to take me to the public Taiwan bath to wash me. In Taiwan there was a lot of public bath houses separated by gender, to take baths, it was a social kind of thing. So I remember they always took me there to take baths, and also buy me toys and feed me well. The sadness came when this lady took me back to this family that used to watch me.

In any case, later on my grandmother found out that I was being abused and hurt, and so she arranged for me to be taken to the USA and to be adopted by another family which is another story. While I was there in Taiwan, I never forgot this lady who used to come and help and assist and take care of me. So a few years ago back in Taiwan (around 2004) I looked for her and through the kindness of some of my friends, I located her and reconnected with her.

So recently she had suffered some serious illness, which she caught in time, and she had been a nurse her whole life. And I have recommended pujas done for her which I had done, and I keep contact with her, because I don’t speak Mandarin anymore, I have to keep in contact with her through other people. But I am in contact with her now, and Karen is very helpful, Karen always on my behalf and at my request gets my messages and all that over to her, so recently I received a message from her, Kuan Mama, the message is below, it is very warm and kind, it is very very loving, you can read for yourself.

I have also introduced her to the great Oracle of our protector Dorje Shugden in Taiwan and asked her to go there and to get teachings from him and also when he is taking trance of Dorje Shugden get healing from him, he is a very qualified monk to teach Dharma, and I am very far so I don’t have the chance to offer Dharma to her for her kindness, but I can definitely connect her with the Oracle of Dorje Shugden there. This is a return to her kindness for what she has done for me. So offering Dharma back is the greatest appreciation we can give a person.

So I am so happy to know that she has gone to see the Oracle, and she has received teachings from him and also during trance, the protector Dorje Shugden has entered and blessed her body to keep her well. I am very very happy about that.

So please see some pictures of myself as a child with this lovely lady Kuan Mama, and recent pictures which were taken a few years ago when we were connected. Below there are some more links of related articles, but I was very touched by her letter that I put up on this little blog, and I mean no disrespect to Kuan Mama to put her personal message up, but I thought the story might inspire many other people that a kindness done should never be forgotten, and a kindness received should always be reciprocated.

This is me reuniting with Kuan Mama 36 years later! Can you imagine? I didn't meet this lovely person for that long. I looked for her and found her. My student Irene did extensive research and found her for me. I was so glad to have found her. I thank Irene so much. I thank Kuan Mama so much for being kind to a child that experienced very little kindness living in Taiwan. I cannot express the amount of gratitude I feel toward Kuan Mama as it is beyond words.

Please read this article about my childhood in Taiwan in which I blogged about my meeting with Kuan Mama in 2008, and included some precious pictures. This kind and loving person treated me like her own child. Kuan Mama also told me that I was a very happy, friendly, and intelligent child. I was extremely playful and I smiled a lot. I guess over the years, I had less reason to smile, because during my teenage years living on my own in Los Angeles, people would always comment that I should smile more.

Kuan Mama’s recent letter to me:

Dear Venerable Tsem Rinpoche,

How are you? Sumei told us about your recent situation, we are all very happy and relieved. For the sake of your disciples and sentient beings, please take very good care of your health from now on, please don’t let down those who are concerned about you, everyday we are praying for your health, long life, safety and happiness!

Karen has recorded your message to me into a CD. Please don’t mention it, that time I was just being asked a favor by someone and was just doing what I needed to do for the things that others entrusted to me, it is not worth mentioning, but you have kept it in your heart all this time. During these few years you are concerned about me and have taken care of me many times, but I could not do anything for you. I can only say I am very lucky, because I met a child who prioritizes kinship above everything else. I thank you for your care and concern, whatever you have done for me I will remember in my heart. I hereby fold my hands to you and bow down deeply before you, thank you and thank you again!

Karen has worked hard to send your massage back and forth to me and even made it into a CD, I am deeply grateful for her. Besides, Karen also brought a few of your disciples to visit me and I am very happy to get to know them. From our conversation I realized that you are a successful person, because of your thoughts and actions, you touched them and inspired them that they join Kechara to be your disciples. I believe in the future there will be even more disciples following you to do Dharma work, I wish you the best.

This time my illness came quickly and in a sudden, I knew there was something wrong, so I immediately went for medical checkup and got it treated there and then. Fortunately it was discovered early, so after the operation there is no need for other treatment, but I need to monitor regularly and take medicine. My mind is at peace, no anger or hatred, and no sadness as well, I have gratitude and repentance. I am grateful that I did not suffer in pain, and I repent that in my past and present lives, I have knowingly and unknowingly created negative deeds due to ignorance, and I have to experience the karma. Now I can only repent and confess, and ask for forgiveness. In order to receive good karma, I need to collect more merits.

During my recuperation, I am thankful for my family, younger brother and his wife, and younger sister, they travelled back and forth under the hot sun to take care of me to great extent, I felt sorry for them but I have no choice, I wish them eternal happiness and peace. I am also grateful for the mantra and prayers that you gave me, my sister always reminds me to recite diligently, the prayer and mantra came in time to accompany me and give me solace, especially when I recite the prayers I feel happiness arose from the bottom of my heart. Thank you and thank you again!

I have went to have audience with Sumei’s guru, he is a kind man. This guru asked me to recite “100-syllable mantra”, the more the better. On the 1st day of lunar new year, I went to participate in the trance ceremony, although the distance is a bit far so I can’t go often, if I have time I will still go and seek blessing from the guru, please don’t worry.

Thank you for the orchid flowers, they are beautiful! You shouldn’t have spent so much on me.

Wishing you all a happy Chinese new year, healthy and long life and peace.

With folded hands,
Kuan Siuhua

A poem inspired by seeing a picture of my teacher, Kyabje Zong Rinpoche…

In the sport of correct views,
all that is correct is just a view,
    without permanence or substance.
As long as we hold onto views,
    our sufferings are gathered
    to be experienced without end.

Without the strong methods of emptiness
    and compassion, bereft of merit,
    we sink deeper without respite.
To arise from this samsara is but
a dreamscape on the deluded mind.
Therefore seek the guru, who confers the yidam,
hold your vows and fixate on liberation
free of new creations. Free of new experiences as
    there are none.

I was walking past a second hand shop on Western Ave selling old things. They had a Japanese-style clay Buddha which was beige in colour on the floor, holding the door open. I thought the shopkeeper would collect a lot of negative karma without knowing if he kept such a holy item on the floor as a doorstop. So I went in to talk to him, but he didn’t look like he wanted to talk or that he even cared. So I asked him the price and he said US$5. I purchased it so he did not collect more negative karma. I was 17 years old and that was in 1982.

I escorted my new Buddha home and washed it lightly and wiped it. I placed it on my altar and was happy with the Buddha. I would do my meditations, prayers, sadhanas, mantras and prostrations in front of this shrine daily. When I left for India in 1987, I could not bring this Buddha along and gave it to a friend. It was a nice size and I made offerings to this Buddha for many years in Los Angeles. In front of the Buddha I placed His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s photo. I remember I was so relieved that the price was affordable. But US$5 that time was still expensive for me but worth it I thought. But I was happy to have brought the Buddha home. Tsem Rinpoche

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing the latest news about Kuan Mama, whom I truly admire and respect for her compassion and kindness to take care of Rinpoche when Rinpoche was much younger during that time in Taiwan. Even up to date, Kuan Mama is still caring for Rinpoche’s condition as Kuan Mama has been praying for Rinpoche’s health, long life, safety and happiness every day. This is a pure motherly love which is full of compassion, love and care. As I contemplate more on the letter written by Kuan Mama to Rinpoche, Kuan Mama is a very humble and down-to-earth person. We should follow the good example of Kuan Mama to serve others who are less fortunate, without complaining about what we lack of.

I am thankfully to know that Kuan Mama has met with the Oracle and received Dharma teachings, blessing and protection from Dorje Shugden through the Oracle. May Kuan Mama continue to live long with stable health and able to learn and practice the Dharma as much as she can.

    Thank you with folded hands,

    Dear Rinpoche,

Thank you for sharing this personal letter by Kuan Mama. Indeed, no matter how small or big, for someone who has been kind to us, we must remember and be grateful. Just like what Rinpoche has mentioned, offering Dharma back is the best gift. Rinpoche has shown us on how we can offer Dharma back. In this case, Rinpoche has given Kuan Mama the best, where Kuan Mama is connected to oracle Himself, Chojila. I am sure Rinpoche view her as a mother.

My Godmother has recently passed away, although I am not very close to her but I remember her smile and her gentle voice. Each time when we go to her house, she will definitely great us with a smile and trying her best to make us feel more at ease. This is what I call kindness. Hopefully she will reconnect with Dharma in all her future lives.

    Thank you Rinpoche.

Rinpoche’s story of growing up still amazes me so much, a child that received so little love, can give to so many others ‘BIG’ love and care via his teachings an genuine care for others.

I feel grateful that Kuan Mama, took it upon herself to care about little Tsem Rinpoche and show him kindness, even though she is not obliged to do so. Even more so because she is not related to Rinpoche in any way. Such kindness from Kuan Mama, is inspiring and one I hope more people will get to know about it. Feel very happy that her teacher is Chojila himself.

  10. KarenC. on Aug 12, 2017 at 11:56 pm

Dharma and kindness are intertwined. Being kind to others is Dharma, being Dharmic the fundamental is to be kind to others and ourselves. Kuan mama’s unconditional kindness to young Rinpoche tells us what kind of person she is. Until today, Kuan mama still remembers every single moment she spent with young Rinpoche. Taking care of Rinpoche wasn’t a chore assigned to her but she did it on her own initiative due to compassion. I’m glad Rinpoche reunited with Kuan mama after so many years and Kuan mama definitely deserved to receive Dharma. She told me how by understanding Dharma it helped her gone through the most difficult time in life. Through this, Rinpoche also taught me how a kind deed can affect one person’s life. Never ever forget someone’s kindness to us whenever we are down or needed help, even it’s just a small gesture. It’s the beautiful kind hearts that makes the society warm and harmonious.

  11. Choong on Aug 12, 2017 at 7:41 pm

I have read and listened to Rinpoche’s account of Kwan Mama a few times and can’t help but notice two things. First, that Rinpoche’s biological mother did not ever not care about Rinpoche’s well-being. The second, that if there were such a thing a Rinpoche’s guardian angel/protector, Kwan Mama would be one of them.

On the surface it may seem that Kwan Mama was just keeping her promise to her friend but we all know that her good qualities are what drove her to follow-through on her promise.

She’s a guardian angel no doubt.

I’m very happy to know that Rinpoche has reconnected with Kuan Mama, and Kuan mama seems to look healthy and very happy too! She still looks very beautiful. I hope there would be many more years to come for Rinpoche and Kuan mama to stay connected healthily and happily. Thank you Rinpoche and writers for this very sentimental atory _/\_

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article about Kuan Mama. She is such a kind and loving person based on how she writes her letter to Rinpoche. She is also a very soft and humble lady. Because of her good deeds that she has done for Rinpoche when he was young and now when she is ill, Rinpoche is able to repay her kindness by doing pujas for her and making sure everything was alright for her. Through Rinpoche, Kuan Mama is able to connect with Dorje Shugden Oracle to get blessings. May Kuan Mama have good health and be blessed by Dorje Shugden.

In the great Treatise on the stages of the Path, Tsongkhapa has state, “When you were hungry and thirsty, she gave you food and drink; When you were cold, clothes; When you had nothing, she gave you everything of value.” Yes, Rinpoche did realized and remembered every of those things that were stated and even mentioned in Rinpoche’s blog article too! Rinpoche also remembered that he had to suffer much abuse and beatings, and also had to escape from the family of the Taiwanese household to go down to the street to steal money and food when he was only 5 or 6 years old and been kept in this Taiwanese household. Only once in a while, one beautiful, kind and attractive lady with long silky hair and a big smile by the name of Kuan Mama, used to come and take him away from this family household during the weekends. At that time he did not have any knowledge about this very kind lady. She used to take him to public baths to wash him, to wipe off all dirt and muscous from his face and nose, or even not minding to wipe away the feces off Rinpocho’s butt, whenever necessary as he was still very, very young. Through her natural kindness in action, even when she was bothered or disturbed by these things, her sense of endearment for our Rinpoche was utmost in her mind of compassion to let any of such effect disturbed her at all! Kuan Mama’s display of such absolute sincerity, kindness and love, coupled with treating Rinpoche like her own flesh and blood was beyond all doubt and comparision. This article is indeed truly a very inspiration one, which Rinpoche has mentioned “should never be forgotten by all” and should be a good practice to be followed by all practitioners of our faith whenever possible! Thank you very much Rinpoche for the sharing of this beautiful teaching of “action by example.” May our compassionate Kuan Mama be always blessed and protected by the three Jewels. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this touching and sincere letter from Kuan Mama. She is a wonderful and caring lady. Even at the stage when she is sick, she did not blame anyone but understand that it is all due to karma. Her mind is at peace, no anger and no sadness. Instead she spend her time reciting mantra. This indeed is a great lesson and reminder for us to continue practicing dharma. Many of us could not control our feeling and mind when we are sick but Kuan Mama is grateful even though she is sick.

I hope Kuan Mama will have good health and be blessed by Three Jewels always.

    Dear Rinpoche,

Rinpoche never forget the kindness that people gave, even at Rinpoche’s young age. Rinpoche could remember how Kwan Mama treated Rinpoche well.

While I was reading about this, I am thinking, do I remember who treated me well during my childhood? Even I do, did I bring them any benefit when I grow up, and especially I am now in dharma. Thus, upon reading this article, I make a small prayer to peoples who treated me well during my childhood, even though I might not recall them, I pray that may they have opportunity to learn the dharma. I make this prayer, because I strongly agreed with Rinpoche that there are no better gifts then giving dharma to the person we care. This gift could possible brought the person free from suffering for many lifetimes even to their enlightenment.

In Kwan Mama’s letter, one of the kind words she has wrote touches me- “please don’t let down those who are concerned about you”. To me, this is a very powerful word, we often get depressed and down when things does not come to our wish, but, we forget that there are people out there concern and care about us. We should work harder for peoples who care for us. Her word is full of wisdom, calm and gratefulness. Kwan Mama is truly an inspirational.

Karen has did her good job in communication between Rinpoche and Kwan Mama. Through her kindness and care, Kwan Mama could stayed connect with Rinpoche.

I thanks Rinpoche for sharing with us this letter of Kwan Mama.
May Kwan Mama stay healthy and happy always.

Bowing to Rinpoche’s lotus feet, with love

    Dear Rinpoche

This letter from Kuan Mama is very touching to read. Kuan Mama was a simple and kind person. It is rare to see someone as kind as her. Most of the people that I met in my life always prioritize their family members first. But Kuan Mama was kind to the son of her friend.

She reminded me of Rinpoche who is always ready to help others although they are not related by blood or friendship. I have met many people in my life who are kind, but I noted that their kindness has boundaries. Once things became uncomfortable, they distance themselves. However, Rinpoche is not like that. When Rinpoche helps someone, Rinpoche will go all the way for that person, although s/he may not be grateful at the time, pretty much like myself.

I am so fortunate to meet Rinpoche and to have the correct example in my life as compared to what I have seen before.

Thank you Rinpoche for not giving up on me.

    Valentina

Thank you for sharing with us the beautiful story of Kuan Mama who had taken care of you. The kindness, warmth and love for sentient beings knows no bounds. It’s wonderful you remember her and reconnected even through translators. I’m glad to see shes followed your advice and even during her health issues her mind is at peace. She is very blessed to have Dorje Shugden in his kindness bless her body.

  20. Joy Kam on Aug 2, 2017 at 7:22 pm

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing Kuan Mama’s letter. It was very sincere. She is so sincere and so humble and so appreciative and gracious to be able to play a small part in Rinpoche’s younger years. What a beautiful statement “I can only say I am very lucky because I met a child who prioritizes kinship above everything else. I thank you for your care and concern, whatever you have done for me I will remember in my heart. I hereby fold my hands to you and bow down deeply before you, thank you and thank you again!”

It is amazing that she is sick yet she is not bitter or sad, but grateful and at peace. She can understand that her illness is her karma and that she wishes to repent and purify them. Not many people think like that, wow… that to me in inspiring. Instead of eating, going on holiday trips and spending lavishly due to her illness, she engages in spiritual practice, receives blessings from high lamas and most of all receive Rinpoche’s kind care. How nice and wonderful and fortunate for her to have such merits to be close to Dharma masters who can help her at this crucial moment in her life.

Again this tells us what is most important at the end of the day and the only thing that can help us is our spiritual practice/Dharma. Hence, we should not wait until it is too late to practice and reciprocate all the kindness we have received from our Guru. Thank you for allowing us to read the inspiring, simple yet filled with meaning letter from Kuan Mama. Thank you Kuan Mama for showing us that kind people do exist.

    Dear Rinpoche,

Thank you for sharing with us the beautiful story of Kuan Mama who had taken care of you. Rinpoche had not forgotten her kindness and even after so long tried to find her and reconnect with her.

Through Iren who is one of Rinpoche student, Kuan Mama was located and the relationship was reconnected. Rinpoche even went over to Taiwan to meet her and had a photo taken with her. Looking at the photo compare with the one taken when Rinpoche was a small boy tell the long period of time in between. But Rinpoche never forget the person who was kind to Him. Rinpoche dident stop just there but make sure she is well even introduce oracle protector Dorje Shugden to her so that she can receive blessing and guidance.

This is a interesting story to read and a teaching to remind us to remember someone who had been kind to us in of our lives.

    Thank you very much.

    Dear Rinpoche,

Thank you for the sharing and really touch my heart to read Kuan Ma Ma’s letter. It make me felt that never afraid to share our kindness to other, it may become the ‘light’s of the others.
We also need to learn to let go our pain and hatred and don’t blame on the suffering that we encountered.

May Rinpoche and Kuan Ma Ma have good health and long life.
    Thank you.

    Good evening dear Rinpoche,
It’s really a touching story. Rinpoche’s kindness always moved us a lot!
Thank you Rinpoche for always spreading your love to all of us…

Great to know that Kuan Mama is gradually recovered… How fortunate Kuan Mama have the chance to receive the blessings from both two high lamas, and of course Dorje Shugden as well. I’m residing in Taiwan, can I know the exact address of the Chojila’s center in Taiwan? I want to receive teachings from Chojila too 😀 Thank you Rinpoche once again <3

  25. Lum Kok Luen on Aug 1, 2017 at 5:32 pm

    Dear Rinpoche,

Thank you again for this wonderful teaching on repaying kindness to all the people who have helped us in one way or another.

As you have mentioned: “the story might inspire many other people that a kindness done should never be forgotten, and a kindness received should always be reciprocated.” I will always keep this in mind and always reciprocate kindness.

As my father is currently recuperating from a major illness at home, over the last one month, taking care of him, caring for him, cleaning him, feeding him and just basically accompanying him has turned my mind to focus out onto others more. It is this feeling that when one is repaying the kindness of our parent, that love and opening the Buddha nature in our mind and heart can be realized and we become an example to our children and to show to others that caring and expressing sincere concern for others makes us better humans.

You love and care for Kuan Mama is exemplary. I will always keep this teaching in mind as I embark on this Dharma journey.

    Humbly yours
    Lum Kok Luen

The concept of rebirth has a long association with Buddhism. Rebirth in Buddhism refers to the teaching that the actions of a sentient being lead to a new existence after death, in an endless cycle called saṃsāra. One will begins a new life in a new body that may be human, animal or spiritual depending on the moral quality of the previous life’s actions. What they are reborn as depends on their actions in their previous life rather kamma. As a Buddhist we should believe in rebirth but still many people don’t . Buddha taught us that choices of rebirth make a difference and can shape many lifetimes. Buddhists believe that nothing that exists is permanent and everything will ultimately cease to be. Against the odds two inspiring nuns fought all the way to become ordained, fighting for their rights to practice Buddhism . Interesting read of how they went through , bringing equality for women in Thailand. Buddhism is the predominant religion in Thailand. Officially, only men can become monks and novices in Thailand under a Buddhist order. The country does not recognize female monks or novices. In recent years, more Thai Buddhist women seeking to become full-fledged female monks, have been defying the tradition getting ordained overseas, in Sri Lanka or India. Buddhist women have been fighting for years for equality and social acceptance in Thailand. They just can’t be ordained by Thai monks. Ven. Dhammananda, 68 year old former university lecturer and activist became Thailand’s first Theravadin bhikkhuni after going the odds. Inspiring read biography on Ven. Dhammananda and Ven. Dr. Lee. They had gone through great hardships, discrimination and against the many odds in bringing equality to women in Buddhism in Thailand.

The unseen things are spiritual realities that are eternal and invisible to our physical eye. There are many forces and phenomena that are not visible to the naked eye. There are many things that humans cannot see yet there are some could see. For what is can be seen is only. Things do exist even we can’t see, believing their existence is our choice. Things that we can’t see in the world opens up a curiosity and exploration by some. Whether through scientific inquiry, or spiritual exploration, the pursuit of knowledge about the unseen can lead to profound insights about ourselves and the universe.
Malacca City is the historic capital of the coastal state of Malacca, in Malaysia serving as a link between east and west for over 500 years. Famous for breath-taking sights with rich heritage, ancient dark culture and history with many old centuries buildings with an interesting past and a colourful ghost story. For that reason alone it is worth visiting as is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site owing to its well-preserved historical center. There’s many historical mansions been passed down generation to generations and with many ghostly sighting by the locals and visitors. There’s the reason many unseen beings loitering and attached to these places. Such an interesting and incredibly creepy watching the video in this blog host by Li Kim. Li Kim had done a great work all along with her team to share with readers about our historic Malacca .

Vajrayogini symbolizes the wisdom of all enlightened beings and embodies the impulse of inspiration that drives the Buddhas to attain the perfect enlightenment. Vajrayogini is one of the most effective practices for people today. We can make offerings such as gold or jewel offerings and so on. The offering of gold helps us to collect merits, spiritual attainments, gain a deeper connection to Vajrayogini. It also creates the causes to attain a Buddha’s body.
Make Offerings to Vajrayogini in Kechara Forest Retreat at Bentong is such an meritorious way for us to collect merits. All thanks to our Guru having conceptualised the idea of having a statue of Vajrayogini for everyone . Recitation of Vajrayogini mantra can be a powerful tool for self-transformation, healing and liberation from samsara.

Thank you, Rinpoche for sharing this insightful article. Life is short, and if we enjoy every moment of every day, then we will be happy no matter what happens or what changes along the way. What ever matter to us at the time of death is nothing. In the end, it’s not the years in our life that count it’s what you leave behind that matters. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again.Death is the golden key that opens the palace of eternity. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time. Learning Dharma and practicing dharma is the our choice that’s matter. Some of the key points to take notes, read, study the Lam Rim and apply it, engage in Sadhana daily and consistently. No one will help us at the moment of death but ourselves. Spiritual practicing is the best choice.

Well the size of Buddha statues in Tibetan Buddhism is important because it represents the Buddha’s immense ability and vast knowledge. Hence the Buddha statues hold the symbol of satisfaction within, peace and happiness. They are a symbol of inspiration for every human being. When we focus on the Buddha statues, it gives us inner peace that our mind, our heart and our soul gets enlightened.
We have are so fortunate seeing and circumambulating where the 9-foot Dorje Shugden statue and with 500 mantra stones engraved with Dorje Shugden’s sacred mantra. As Rinpoche had said before the bigger and more Buddha statues helps in planting seeds of enlightenment in people’s mind-streams. It also help us to generate as much merit and purify as much karma as possible. Merely by seeing all those big statues at Kechara Forest Retreat is a blessing.
    Thank you Rinpoche.

The 4th Tagpu Pemavajra Jampel Tenpai Ngodrub, most commonly known as Tagpu Dorje Chang, was a highly accomplished yogi Highly attained lama who had many authentic visions of the Buddhas and even travel astrally to receive direct teachings from them. His recognised line of incarnations stem all the way back to the 14th Century. He is generally regarded as such amongst Gelug lineage holders. He spent most of his time in a hermitage located above Sera Monastery, gave teachings and transmitted many vital practices and lineages to his foremost student Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche. Besides receiving the complete instructions of Dorje Shugden’s practice, Tagpu Dorje Chang had many other mystical experiences throughout his lifetime. Interesting read biography of a highly accomplished mahasiddha lama.

n Tibetan culture, it is a popular and customary practice for families to invite monks to perform spiritual ceremonies such as Trusol rituals. The monks have had the opportunity to offer such ceremonies for individuals or their families. Such ceremonies purify the elements of the environment which helps those living or visiting there to experience good health, success and well-being. The sacred ritual of ‘bathing’ the Buddhas and consecration through which negativities, sicknesses and obstacles will be cleared. Where by filling those areas with positive energies and good vibes through this Trusol consecration puja. Water is an essential part of this puja and symbolises the cleansing of all negativities and impurities. Through this puja it also pacifies local deities and other unseen beings in the surrounding areas. We are indeed fortunate that Tsem Rinpoche has taught Kecharians this practice and it has benefited many.

Reading this post had me gain some knowledge of Shifter Werewolves. Any article regarding rare creatures or paranormal articles are of my interest since young. In European folklore, a werewolf is a man who turns into a wolf at night and devours animals, people, or corpses but returns to human form by day. They have the ability to transform from an ordinary human appearance to a partially-lupine form with pointed ears, mutton chops, claws and fangs, and a ridged brow . Wow… werewolf tends to be vicious and unable to control his blood thirst. Their underlying common origin can be traced back to Proto-Indo-European mythology. In many depictions, these bloodthirsty beasts are evil where they kill animals and innocent people. They are humans who transition into wolf-like creatures, after being placed under a curse. In folklore, most werewolves originate from being cursed or bitten by another werewolf. That’s what they do believe. According many enthusiasts, there’s many different type of werewolves such as Alpha wolves, Beta wolves , Deltas, Elders, some survive as loners while others move in packs. How true it is no one knows. I do believe their existing . Many interesting stories related to these wolves in the past history.

Beautiful Dorje Shugden at Malacca. One should pay a visit there, located at a busy tourist place. It was such an auspicious occasion that a grand Puja was held there. Dedicated students and volunteers were there getting the place ready for the grand puja. Well the Grand Dorje Shugden puja was conducted by very own Kechara puja team to commemorate the chapel’s 3rd anniversary. Many people attended the Puja that’s wonderful to receive the powerful Protector Dorje Shugden blessings. More people will make a connection and get to know Manjushri, the Buddha of Wisdom, in the form of a Dharma Protector. May Dorje Shugden’s practice flourish to benefit those tourists and locals.

Venerable Geshe Rabten Rinpoche is a highly realised meditation master known as a debater, scholar, and meditation master, was the first Tibetan Buddhist master to introduce the complete Vinaya-tradition. He had also introduce the study of the five major topics of Buddhism to the West. He became the ‘path breaker’ of the complete and complex teachings of Buddhism in the West. Many masters, who are famous in the West today, were Geshe’s students. enerable Geshe Rabten. Geshe Rabten wrote the beautiful and Manjushri’s prayer called Gangloma and gave a profound explanation. We are so fortunate to learn about this Manjushri’s sacred prayer. May all be blessed by the practice of Lord Manjushri and Geshe Rabten’s explanation.

The begging bowl or alms bowl is one of the simplest but most important objects in the daily lives of Theravada Buddhist monks. The alms bowl still stands as an emblem of how all Buddhas, as numerous as grains of sand in the Ganges, practiced to end their desire. All those who receive the alms bowl should focus their mind to act with self-control and self-respect. Almsgiving is a tradition of Theravada Buddhists, majority in Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Laos. In those early days of Buddhism, monks would take their bowls and go out begging for food. As today in Thailand one could see monks woke up before dawn every morning and carried his bowl through the roads or paths wherever he was staying. Local people would place food in the bowl as a donation, through the generosity of lay people. They accept whatever food is offered for them and eat whatever been given, serve as a blessing for the giver.
One bowl has held the food of a thousand families. A solitary monastic travels on his journey of a hundred thousand miles seeking liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
Thank you H.E. Tsem Rinpoche for explaining the meaning of begging and gave us more reasons to be vegetarian . Create a awareness among us not killing animals to be one.

Ajahn Siripanyo, the son of billionaire Ananda Krishnan, chose to abandon his inheritance and become a Buddhist monk in pursuit of spirituality. A Thai-Malaysian monk born in London and educated in UK. He was ordained in Thailand and lived there, leaving behind a life of immense wealth and privilege. He did surprised many and his choice was unexpected. Initially as a temporary measure, but somehow later evolved into a permanent way of life. Ven. Ajahn Siripanyo is now the Abbot of hermitage Dtao Dam on the Thai-Burmese border in Saiyok National Park, Thailand.
He was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia years back giving an enthralling Dhamma talk on the timeless teachings of Ajahn Chah.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
