66 Million!
In our materialistic self-centred world, we need more news like this where we are saving and helping our planet. It is spiritual to help our planet. It is human to help our planet. It is logical to help our planet. We are the only species on this earth that destroys our planet and uses its resources beyond our needs.
No matter how materialistic we get or how much we dive into materialism, it is just a matter of time before a feeling of emptiness will take over and it later becomes depression. Because when the self-centric mind rules, there is no way out.
So I like articles of this nature which show that people are interested in taking steps to heal our planet. I am amazed that India is able to plant 66 million trees in such a short amount of time. It just goes to show that if we want to accomplish something very badly, we can. Imagine – on one side of the world, for example in the Amazon, hundreds of acres of forest is being destroyed. On the other side of the world, a future green lung of the planet is being created. The choice is up to us whether we fuel our greed or if we give something back to others.
I hope more people will be inspired by news like this to take up their own cause and get involved with something that helps others beyond ourselves. Each of us needs to get involved with something that contributes to our planet instead of always taking, taking, taking its resources. In Kechara Forest Retreat that is very much something I am trying to build which is a conscious community that cares for the environment not just because it’s a fashionable thing to do. But because it’s compassionate to preserve the environment so all sentient beings can live happily in it, with less physical suffering, since we all need to coexist with one another. If at least we cannot or do not want to do something about the damage, then we humans should not add to the damage or contribute to it.
The destruction of our planet affects everyone, not just us so it’s compassionate for us to think about healing, saving and protecting it. Go vegetarian. Eat less meat. Don’t wear leather. Travel using public transport. Use less plastic and recycle. All of us can do something but it’s up to us to choose.

India Just Planted 66 Million Trees In 12 Hours
By: Tom Hale
This week India planted more than 66 million trees in 12 hours, smashing their own record set just last year.
This latest green-feat was carried out on Sunday in Madhya Pradesh, a large state in central India. Between 7 am & 7 pm, floods of volunteers planted 6,630,000 tree saplings. Or, as they say in India, “6.63 crores,” as each crore denotes ten million units.
The previous record was set by India in 2016, when they planted 49.3 million tree saplings in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh in 24 hours. The country’s newest feat is yet to be clarified by the Guinness World Records, but all being well, it looks like they should snatch the title.
India pledged to increase forest their cover to 95 million hectares (235 million acres) by 2030 at the Paris Climate Change Conference. The government is putting forward $6.2 billion for this effort and encouraging all of the country’s 29 states to get involved.
“#MPPlants6CroreTrees is effort in accordance with #ParisAccord. I am proud that Madhya Pradesh has been one of the first to initiate,” Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, tweeted on Sunday.

India did not have the best reputation when it comes to being green over the past decades. They currently are one of the world’s biggest producers carbon emissions (although granted, their population is over 1.3 billion). They also have a become closely associated with poor inner-city air quality, coal burning, lack of sewage treatment operations, and the burning of biomass fuel.
However, this old image of pollution and smog is starting to fade. As India continues its rise as a major world power, there’s been big pushes to bring their economy into the 21st century using investment in green energy and environmentalism, from a local level all the way up to Narendra Modi, India’s current prime minister.
“Modi knows climate change is good politics. Climate change makes sense to Modi because he believes it as it is good economics and politics,” Harsh Pant, a fellow at the New Delhi-based research organization Observer Research Foundation, recently told the New York Times in a story about their move away from coal burning towards renewable energy sources.

Well it not easy but they made it, just in 12 hours India planted more than 66 million trees. It’s amazed people show interested in taking steps to heal, safe and protect our planet. On the other side of the world, a future green lung of the planet is being created. The choice is up to us whether we fuel our greed or if we give something back to others.
Thanks you for the sharing to help spread awareness about what’s happening to the planet and how people creating effort to love the mother nature. Life wouldn’t function without the necessities that the Earth provides for us.

India is one of the most polluting country in the world. A pledge made at the Paris Climate Change Conference India decided to increase forest in a mass-planting event, to raise awareness for the nation’s plan to make India green again . That’s a wonderful idea. Wow….amazing India has broken its own world record by planting 66 million trees in just 12 hours. Thousands of volunteers got their hands dirty and planted more than 66 million trees in just 12 hours in a record-breaking environmental drive. They planted more than 20 different species of trees. India have set an example to the world undertaking massive tree-planting efforts to reduce deforestation and climate change. Hopefully more countries will increase forest for a better environment.
Thank you Rinpoche for this wonderful sharing.
Animals show love for humans! Cow, lions, apes, dogs, bears, parrots and more can all be very affectionate and show surprising emotions when it comes to expressing their love for people. An emotional animals hugging humans video.

This is amazing, Indians have planted 66 million tree in 12 hours as an effort to save our environment. As we progress and develop further, we are at the same time destroying our living environment. We have destroyed the eco-system and destruct the harmony of nature.
More and more natural disasters happen, the hurricane, snowstorm, extremely hot weather, etc. These are the indications our living environment is losing its balance. We have cut down a lot of trees to make way for urbanisation. The habitat of the wildlife animals is destroyed. As a result, the wildlife animals are facing extinction.
It is nice to know India realised how important it is to maintain the balance in our living environment. This is not the first time they planted so many trees, they have done it before. I hope more and more countries will learn from India, to green up the environment and improve our living condition.

H.E. the 25th Tsem Rinpoche loves animals and is passionate against their harm, torture, and abuse.
The few minutes a day we spend on social media creating awareness for animals who cannot speak is purely spiritual and humanistic practice because we are trying to alleviate pain from another sentient beings and that makes us more spiritual, and that makes us more spiritual and more humane.
Feeling inspired by the Indians, if they can do it so can many more countries around the world. Trees can be a way to change the environment, some have claimed before that when we change the environment by introducing trees and vegetation, the rain will come.
This is the land that built 100k stupas in one night under Emperor Ashoka. So it is not impossible for the Indians.
It is a bit difficult to imagine 66 millions, but it is such a great effort! ???
Nowadays, ecology been destroyed by overdeveloped in certain countries. I feel happy to see India did a virtuous action on planting 66mil trees in 12 hours. This may help on reducing global warming issue. Education play a very important role in order to nurture our future generations to love and protect our environment. We must always remember that don’t take everything as granted. We must preserve our Mother Nature for next generations.
Thanks Rinpoche to create awareness to more people to love our Mother Nature.

Dear Rinpoche,
Thanks for sharing this article. This is really a good news and more countries should have follow. It is time to contribute back to the planet before it is too late.
With folded palms,
James Ho
What a great feat! From a highly polluted country India is transforming into a green country. This shows that if we put our minds into something and with the right motivation everything is possible. As advised by Rinpoche we should all do our part to conserve our planet. Thank you Rinpoche for building the Kechara Forest Retreat to preserve the environment and make it conducive for all sentient beings to live happily.
What a Great News!
India is known as the 3rd largest polluting country in the world which bring much harmful to human health. Now, the government spent $6.2 billion on this program which is initiated by the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, led India one step forward to save its environment.
By having good objectives for the benefit of people, there were about 1.5 million volunteers including children, youth, women and the elderly from different religions and class dedicated themselves in order to achieve the mission within 12 hours.
From this article, we can see clearly that with the good intention and motivation to work for the benefit of others, resources will increase and help to achieve the vision and mission eventually.
It’s very kind and conscientious of the villagers in India. It is such a monumental effort by simple people to make a difference to the world. They have started a chain of events that will benefit many and make an attempt to reduce their carbon footprint.
Kudos to their effort. Good things can only come from this. More countries should emulate them even if on a smaller scale.
Dear Rinpoche,
This is very heartening news. At least India has created the causes for tree plantings such that the entire country and its citizen will be exposed to the dire need to renew and refresh our planet and that future generations are not robbed or deprived of the basic access to clean and clear air and a balanced eco system.
If only Malaysia were to embark on this countrywide initiative, I’s sure Malaysia will be a much, much better place for everyone.
Thank you

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article. I think everyone should play a part in saving planet but looks like some people are not interested and feels that it is wasting their time. Every country sbould have a regulation which says that for a certain amount of trees being chopped down then a certain amout of trees need to be pla ted back. Sometimes too many skyscrapers and less greenery around the environment will feel hot and looks dusty. Here in this article, rejoice to India for taking the initiative to plant tree saplings in 12 hours. This is something to rejoice. May many countries follows what India is doing to save the earth.
With folded palms,
Vivian
A nice article regarding India had planted 66 million trees within short period.Indeed a great team workout. Thanks for the article.
Out of our need to use natural resources left to us by generations before us, we have damaged a large part of the planet we live in. Climate changes and ozone depletion will kill mankind in due course. These climatic changes have been creating havoc to us and causing huge amount of money to reinstate and repair.
It is time for us to replenish mother nature and the example set by planting 66 million trees in India is inspiring. Included in last years planting of trees more than 100 million trees are replanted.
Thank you Rinpoche for Kechara Forest Retreat whereby we can also learn to respect and keep mother nature intact.
It is more than logical to want to be part of global efforts to save and preserve the environment and planet earth. It is spiritual. It is compassionate!
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this inspiring article about how India has just planted 66 million trees in 12 hours! This green feat was accomplished by the state of Madhya Pradesh. This breaks the previous record-last year,Uttar Pradesh had set a record of planting 49.3 million trees in 24 hours!
This is moving positively towards fulfilling India’s pledge at the Paris Climate Change Conference – to green 95 million hectares(230 million acres )of land by 2030.
If India keeps up its greening feats consistently, it will definitely help to remove the negative image so far of it being a highly polluted country with serious problems of smog. It is indeed laudable that countries like India have taken up this cause of saving the planet. This is in sharp contrast to elsewhere in the world, like the Amazon region, where hundreds of acres of trees are being destroyed .
Unfortunately, the destruction of planet earth is going on at a faster rate than the saving and preserving of it by measures such as re -forestation.Sad to say, man’s insatiable greed in the pursuit of materialism is causing planet earth to be relentlessly destroyed.
Breaking news….could not imagine planting 66 million trees in 12 hours, breaking their own record a year ago. They are trying to preserve and to create more awareness greenery environment. Each year many tress been destroyed and India are having this project to increase the forest in put and green energy.May more countries will follow India to increase greenery forest to save earth…..a better healthier place to stay.To have a more conscious community that cares for the environment.
Thank you rinpoche for sharing this wonderful news.
Sixty-six millions tree is a big number. Imagine that being planted within 12 hours. If the volunteers of Madhya Pradesh can come together from 7 am to 7 pm, to plant 6,630,000 tree saplings, I am sure everybody else can do the same. In this way, the Earth will be healthier and the trees can grow into a force to counter air pollution and global warming to a certain extent. Thank you, Rinpoche, for sharing this interesting news with us.
This article is truly motivating and inspiring. If everyone could unite and coorperate then things will manifest faster.Teamwork is very important. Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much. Likewise,if everyone could volunteer to do a bit of Dharma social media to shorten the process of lifting DS ban,and complete the KFR project as soon as possible would be great! A little help from each person really means a lot. Thank you Rinpoche and blog team for this very inspiring article.
