Cat Murderer Found
A few weeks ago, I blogged about Sushi the dog who was very, very badly beaten up by his owner. In the 15 minute video, Sushi was repeatedly punched in the face, thrown across the room and smacked around… It was one of the most extreme abuse videos that the public had seen, and it made the viewers so angry that those on Facebook started a group in search of the man. Everyone was shocked to find out that the video was shot in Malaysia.
Now, another video has surfaced of a person wearing a cap killing kittens.
In the 5 minute video, you can see 3 kittens and one mother. At the beginning of the video, it seems like the person is almost afraid of the 2 kittens and is using the umbrella to poke at them. One gets away, but the other two get smacked around left and right. Another kitten then gets away although very injured… but the last kitten doesn’t make it. The video gets more and more violent towards the end, with the person picking up the dying kitten, throwing it onto the floor and stepping on it to finish the kitten off.
You can see the mother’s repeated attempts to try and save her kittens, but she just can’t get to them. She has no choice but to sit there, watching her babies getting stomped to death.
Those who have watched this video are just as angry as those who watched the Sushi video… Another online search has started for the person who killed the kitten. They identified the person as a woman (in the video, it’s not easy to tell)… but that person has gone into hiding.
The abuse case has also come out in the local papers… it’s good to know that people care about stopping animal cruelty. Do take a look at the video below… and never ever participate in any form of animal cruelty.

UPDATE: 6/3/2011
She has very quickly been branded “kitten killer” by the press. But this 21 year old said she didn’t realize that she had killed the kitten, until she watched the video.
She held a press conference to explain herself… Below is the article from the Free Malaysia Today newspaper:

‘Kitten killer’ apologises
The 21-year-old woman apologises for the brutal attack, and says that she has since repented.
SERDANG: The woman responsible for attacking several kittens and bludgeoning one of them to death has apologised for her actions while animal lovers vented their frustration outside the building.
Chao Xiao Wei, 21, told a press conference here that she would never repeat the mistake.
“I would like to apologise for my mistake in torturing the kittens. I could not control my emotions then,” she said.
“I didn’t know the kitten died until I saw the video. I repented after that,” she added.
Chao, who is unemployed, also claimed to be suffering from depression since her mother got divorced.
She added that she was prepared to face the consequences and was willing to spend time at the Society for Prevention of Cruelty Against Animals (SPCA).
“I am also not afraid if people verbally abuse me because of this,” she said, adding that she had also received death threats since the incident was highlighted and had lodged a police report.
The press conference was held at Sri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah’s office here.
Chao’s mother, Cheong Poh Lin, 49, also pleaded for her daughter to be given a chance.
“My income is affected. I am forced to stop my business at the market because some people from the press started looking for us,” she said.
Gathered outside the building were representatives from groups such as Petpositive and Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB).
Animal lover K Jeevananthan, who told FMT on Friday that he would track down the perpetrator and get even with her, was also presemt.
“I want to break her arms and legs,” he shouted to applause from the crowd.
A video on the incident, entitled “Happened in Malaysia – Serdang”, is being circulated on Facebook.

I remember that this issue was constantly raised after the incident, I’m glad that the public have cared enough to look out for her and eventually she turned up to apologise and bear responsibilities and consequences for her actions.
A lot of people use their sicknesses or sometimes disabilities to cover their mistakes but most of the time we know that they are all excuses, how can we hurt or even kill another sentient just because we are unwell or mentally unstable.
There are some cases where people just cannot control themselves, I believe there are. But by looking at Chao, I really do not see that she’s so off to that extend that she couldn’t control her actions. Anyways she still did it already, I hope she learnt her lesson and do not repeat the same mistake again.
How is depression an excuse for you to hurt animals? Having depression doesn’t mean that you have to go around hurting animals or people, how does that make sense? Until now I still couldn’t understand what was her motive of abusing the kittens. I really hope that after the incident, she had learnt her lesson and turn over a new leaf.
Dear Rinpoche, I don’t care if she is suffering from depression because of her mother divorced or anything else. It is still not right to vent her anger on the poor defenseless kittens. And now, because she vent her anger towards the kittens, one of them is dead and the other one is badly injured. I think anyone would’ve slap her if she is in front them.
There is NO excuse for what that piece of shit has done. Bring her to me, I will break her all bones, cut her lying tongue off and leave her to die. All she deserves is a painful death!
This is so inhumane! For having depression doesn’t excuse you to harm/put someone’s life to an end, those beings did nothing wrong to deserve to be killed. I feel so sorry for the mother of the kittens, there was nothing she could have done to protect her own children, she could only watch her babies being stomped to death. May the kittens take good rebirths and will ever have to go through this again.
I can’t believe that people would actually do this to such a nice and cute animal. I just don’t understand, they are such nice and gentle animals who don’t harm anyone, there s not point of doing this and putting this much pain and suffering to this animal. Please, this has to stop, I don’t think that people like to watch videos like this, so we all must stop this.
I hate people who torture and kill animals. The feeling when I look at people torturing animals the anger is like my favourite toy being damaged by my enemy. I know that she did apologize but she still shouldn’t torture dog and kittens just to overcome her sadness. I will never ever put my anger on animals. Thank you for reading
Knowing this incidence makes me feel both sad and angry. I am angry for the insensitivity of this girl and sad for what happened to these kittens and the mother cat.
How painful is it for the mother cat to have to witness what happened to her kittens and yet couldn’t do much about it. It have must been like a knife on her heart.
While this girl has been caught and that she pleaded guilty for her wrongdoings, sorry to say for I do not know if she really felt sorry from the bottom of her heart for the damages that she made onto these harmless animals. She vetted her anger and emotions on these defenceless creatures and said that she did not know that these cats died because of her own actions. So does it mean that torturing animals are ok?
This incidence also shows how important is it to have active animal lover groups and the power of societal power. I believe too that strict legislations are important for they will help curb negative actions.
What good does it do to be angry? you will not change anything by being angry about it.
i am a cat lover… and i can’t forgive what she has done….
depression is not an excuse to kill! she also claimed that she didn’t know the kitten died until she saw the video?! i don’t think so! she just came back to check whether the kitten is still alive or not! if people doesn’t threaten her family, i don’t think she would apologize….
The fact that the 21 year old girl has said that at the time of her action she does not know what she is doing. There are people who goes out of their minds temporarily during the split seconds of their depression and at the height of their anger. They may not know what they are doing. Because of her depression over her parents divorce and cannot attack her parents back for the sufferings she is having, as they may be more fierce than her and she is scared. So she choose the kittens the weakest of beings not even a mother cat to torture and vent her anger and depression on her parents. Unfortunately this is not the case in thinking her parents will suffer. The poor innocent kittens suffer as they cannot fight back. The kittens Karma must have surfaced and in past lives she may have been tortured by these kittens. So the cycle of Karma comes around. This is also a lesson to tell us that we should not make another being suffer because the karma will defintely come back to us.
I think such abuse must be very common but almost all of them go unrecorded. Due to the advent of CCTVs, Internet and YouTube, we get to see some abuses that happen so very close to our homes. We may be shocked and we get so angry and upset over this but there are worse abuses that happen on a daily basis.
What about the gross abuses that happens everyday in slaughterhouses that puts meat on our tables? Most of the food that we put in our mouth 3 or more times a day contains meat that are acquired through far worse abuses of killing animals. So what makes that abuse alright and this abuse outrageous?
I could not believe anything like this could happen —– especially in Malaysia. I just lost some faith in the world. I feel sorry for her that she has lost a lot in her life but that does not give her a reason to just randomly kill kittens. I guess it is both the kitten’s karma and the girl. One’s bad karma is slightly decreasing, whereas the other one’s bad karma is rising tremendously. We should feel sorry for this girl as she most probably would be in the hell realms in her next life.
I hope no more of this suffering will happen. May all animals be free of suffering and the causes of suffering.
Here’s an update: the killer has surfaced to make a public apology after people threatened her and her family for killing the kittens.
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2011/3/7/nation/8203557&sec=nation
She lost her job due to harassment, and her mom could no longer open her stall at the market. Sounds pitiful but had she taught about this before she stepped on those kittens (which she blamed her parents divorce for it) she wouldnt have ended up this way..
Dear Rinpoche,
here’s the update of the public apology from the dubbed, ‘Kitten Killer’ in english: http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/2011/03/06/kitten-killer-apologises/
with all the media publicity and public outrage against her actions, she has no choice but to come out from hiding… which is a lot braver than the two poodle abusers (of a different case). one can only hope she has learned to respect and value life more. whilst sometimes, i believe that everyone deserves a second chance… BUT, i also believe that karma will have its way dealing with her.
I cannot bring myself to watching this video, sorry.
Just reading about this story in today’s papers is enough to make my blood boil. For someone to beat, torture and kill a kitten like that is pure cowardice. In this age of degeneration, hordes of cowards walk the Earth.
For not being able to watch this video, maybe I am a coward too.
Dear Tsem Rinpoche,
No matter what religious we are, we do believe in Karma. What they have done will come back to them. I was so angry about the ‘Cat Murderer Case’. But somehow, my anger lose out a lil when I read about today’s newspaper. The person in the video had a public appology about this case. http://www.chinapress.com.my/content_new.asp?dt=2011-03-06&sec=malaysia&art=0306mb55.txt
Dear Rinpoche, may I ask what is your opinion about this? Does everybody who killed (no matter to an animal or a human being) deserve a forgiveness just by giving apologize??
I believe that when we forgive someone, we benefit, because we let go of the anger or disappointment we feel. I think that it’s not whether the person deserves forgiveness or not because in the end, whether we forgive them or not, they will suffer the karma of their actions. In that sense, we should feel compassion for people like this girl because they will suffer greatly as a result of what she did.
there’s an update to this case: the tomboyish girl in the video has been caught and apprehended and cat lovers mobbed her in anger and said that she cannot be let go with a light sentence. It was on the news in TV a while ago. I felt sorry for that girl to be in this predicament, but she deserves that and much more.
my heart broke a few times when i saw that evil girl oppress those poor kittens and kill them….why would anyone want to do that?!?!?!?!? what is wrong with that girl? why would anyone oppress or kill beings that are less powerful than them? I hate that…a lot…
now that she’s been caught, at least she will serve as an example for others that they cannot be cruel to animals just because they think nobody’s watching…
Can someone please help explain how this happens before I lose my friggin’ marbles… How. How how how do these conditions arise. Samsara is bullshit!
It’s painful to watch a cat with more compassion than a human being. When I saw this video I just said to myself… no… no no no no… I was even upset at the fact that Rinpoche asks us to watch the video. I love cats so much. Then I realized that Rinpoche loves cats too, he has probably helped more cats in his lifetime than me also. So I forced myself to watch the video. after I forced the vomit back down my throat decided it would be the best approach not to ever allow such a thing to occur around me.
Ohhh kitty kitty please reincarnate someplace warm and soft and full of love.
In today’s tough and degenerated environment, our emotions are normally coloured by self-cherishing hatred and obessesions. Anything that hit our sensitive spot can either make us cry or laugh, esperience hatred as well as obsessions. We cry, we get angry, just like what the 21 year old kitten killer had gone through, as a result of her mother’s divorce, where depression anger crept in and took control! It so happen that this family of cats happened to be at the wrong place and time, perhaps through the ripening of their negative karma to suffer the consequences. In her antidote actions, the accused had since openly through the press made public apology and confessions. Even her mother came forth to appeal for leniency for her, though she suffered losses through forceful closure of her business which faced threats and brutal verbal abuses. The daughter was also willing toserve her time at the SPCA for the animals. Best is to let the law of Karma to take its course under “cause and effect”, rather than to further pursue under “a tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye” revengeful retaliation under manmade laws.
