Compassion in action
Jessie Earhart is young, intelligent and very compassionate. She also has her priorities right. It is amazing to find people who can do this. Jessie is a genuine human being as she displays selflessness over her own needs or wants. Too many times we see people cannot ‘afford’ to help animals, charities or any good cause saying they don’t have money or others are not contributing. They like to blame others sometimes. The funny thing is they can afford luxury items, trips, fine dining et al. But they cannot afford to help another truly in need. This is not judging anyone but I’ve experienced people telling me they would like to help animals and they love animals, but they don’t have money to help and that’s the end of that. But they can afford many other luxuries. It makes me realize what the person’s real priority may be. I maybe wrong. I am guilty of that in the past, but I do make amends.
I find this story very touching and very necessary. I just wanted to share this here. Thank you Jessie Earhart for showing us that we can find it in our heart to help others even if it means we have to wait for what we want.

Jessie found Lilly with a bleeding gash and an injured eye. Today, Jessie and Lilly are forever family!
Teenage Girl Gives Up Dream Car To Rescue Abused Dog!
By Amber James
Jessie Earhart had been saving up for a new car when a chance encounter with an abandoned dog changed her plans completely. The kindhearted girl, just 15-years-old, asked her mom to stop when she discovered a discarded dog running along a road. When the teen approached the severely injured pup, the dog now known as Lilly, immediately ran into the girl’s arms nuzzling her head into her arms in relief.
An animal control officer took Lilly away to a veterinarian for her facial injuries — believed to have been caused by someone who used an ax to strike her face. Lilly’s medical bills piled up and she faced euthanasia. When the teen found out, she offered up the $400 she had been saving to buy a car to help pay the veterinary expenses and decided to adopt the dog herself.
The teen has no regrets and admits the right car will be there a year from now, but the dog’s life needed to be saved now. Wait until you see how happy Lilly is today — all thanks to one very incredible teen.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article. Jessie is such a kindhearted person. As a 15 year old girl, she has a matured thinking. She can put aside her own priorities to save a Lilly’s life. I can see that Lilly is very loyal to Jessie as Jessie has save her life. I guess if more and more people with a good heart like Jessie, then there will be less animal cruelty happening.

So touching,…story of a kindhearted girl giving up all her savings in order to save a dog she found by the road. She has planed to get a new car with her savings. Her kindness really touched me deeply. She is so compassionate and inspiring which can set an example to us all.
Thank you Rinpoche for this inspiring story.
It is just so touching that this young girl is willing to give up what she has been saving up for her car in order to sponsor and help the little dog that is helpless at the moment.
I thank Jessie and like minded people like her. It is because of people like her that animals that are suffering would no longer be suffering under their lover and care.
This is just such a great story. Even though there was a sponsor that has picked up the bills for Lily, and gave the money to Jessie, instead of spending that money, Jessie donated to the vet again to help the other animals that may be abandoned and are helpless.
This is so touching. This girls gave up the thing she held most dear in order to save a random dog she found by the road. Her kindness really touched me deeply.
I think that this is a very important lesson which all of us need to learn. We must not be selfish and only think about ourselves. We must learn to sacrifice things that we love for the greater good. And this 15 year old girl is the perfect example. She sacrificed her dream car to save an injured animal. That was the right thing to do. I am very proud of this girls choice, it was very mature, and a lot of adults can learn from her.
Normally when we see stray dogs on the road, we don’t stop for them. We just carry on. But Jessie has a good heart, and she has just saved a life. I hope this post gains awareness and many people learn this valuable lesson.
at such a young age Jessie able to set her priority right, by using her saving to pay for Lilly’s medical bill. she is such a wonderful inspiration to us.
At her age, many teenager priority nowadays are into games, wanting toys and gadget, but Jessie able to let go of the her wish to get a car, just for the sake of Lilly. whats more surprising, she even donated all the donation she receive from the anonymous donor for Lilly medical expense to the the vet so they could save other animal in need.
Thank you Rinpoche for this inspiring story. She is so compassionate and we should learn from her.

It is great to hear that someone as young as 15 can be so kind as to give up her dreams of buying a sports car to save a dog.
She could have got a car for her own pleasure and be able to enjoy but instead she chose to save the dog’s life instead of going for her own enjoyment.
This piece of news is really inspiring as it tells me that you don’t have to be an adult to be a hero.
That actually reminds me that nothing is impossible or at least it is possible in a way of some sort.
But it also means that even with a simple act you could be a hero and it definitely is easier than other ways of becoming a hero!!
These kind of stories are rare nowadays but everyday there is more and more people saving life’s.
I really give her a huge thumbs up for her brave deed.
It is amazing to see such a young child, sacrifice her wants for a material good that could help her out in life, ie a car but rather invest the money in helping an innocent animal who she just found on the side of the street. It is very important for youths to be brought up with this mindset as they would be more compassionate human beings in general.
It is also great to see that an anonymous donor had helped with the fees as a young kid alone wouldn’t have been able to help all the way. I rejoice for the kindness that remains on this world.
However, it is indeed sad that such animals end up in these situations as someone must have hurt the poor pup. I hope that that person doesn’t harm any more and if he or she is aware, he or she should regret and try to amend.
A big thank-you to Jessie Earhat’s kindness and generosity, who has so compassionately help to dispel off the pains and suffering of this desolate animal being. As his holiness, the Dalai Lama has said, “The key to a happier and more successful world is the growth of compassion.” May the Holy protector, Treasure of compassion, grant blessings to this kind and generous girl, and may all her outer and inner hindrances be fully pacified. Om mani padme hung.
It is good to know that there are still kind peoples like Jessie out there in the world. If more and more people becomes like her, what a great place this world would be. Because there are just too many people in the world who are really cruel to animals, some people just wants to hurt animals when they see it. There are millions of cases about people hurting animals just for the sake of fun and a lots of reasons that doesn’t really make any sense. I’m happy that Lily is living with a happy family right now with a few more friendly dogs. We don’t really see people who would sacrifice their money that could buy things they want the most to safe an animal. And now when she gets donated which are supposed to use it for treating her hip, instead she donated it to the animal shelter hoping to safe more dogs. Thanks You Rinpoche for sharong
It always makes me happy to see people going all out of their way to save animals, what makes this story even better when people also sacrifice their spending on things they want such as a car, phones and etc just so to be able to save a dog.
Jessie is truly a hero for saving Lily because if not for her, anything could have happened to Lily when she was abandoned on a highway such as getting knocked down by a car or either starving to death.
What even surprised me was how she didn’t accept the money sponsored by the anonymous donor and instead donated it to the vet so it could be used to save other stray animals in the future.
Jessie is a perfect example of a teenager that selfless, generous and compassionate.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this story.
This is so kind and wonderful. She gave up her own luxuries to save this dog. Even though she wasn’t asked to! Rinpoche is right, people say they cannot pay or donate to animals because they can’t afford it but they can still get all these luxuries, I am not judging but this is something to look at. Just donating a bit of your money for others is a good practice to do regularly, it practices compassion.
I love that she put the dog above her and the dog knew that she could be trusted because she fell into her arms immediately. I love animals and I love to help them by donating or washing them at various places like the dogs at KFR. People that put them above their need are amazing because they know that they cannot thank them or express their joy in words, but these people do it anyways, to help the animals. Even though they cannot say thank you, they also cannot say it hurts when you hit them too.
But the only bad thing about this is that Lilly was found with a gash on her face because someone did that to her. Also this was supposedly an attempt to shoo her away. Who give you permission to hurt animals? Who said we are above them? nobody. And it is wrong because they are alive too and they have feeling too. Also she was abandoned, once you bring a dog home, they are a part of your family and you cannot abandon them. Ever. Just think about them.
This is an inspiration indeed. How lucky Lilly was to meet Jessie that day and he life changed for the better. How compassionate Jessie is to take in an injured, abandoned dog and give it a home. This is very good karma. She is an inspiration for others.
It’s very kind of Jessie to have made this choice to save this poor doggie. I’m very glad that she started off doing this at such a young age, teenagers nowadays are either too focused in themselves or they just don’t care. Seldom people will give up what they think matters the most to them to save someone who doesn’t say “thank you”. I think that teenagers and even adults should follow Jessie’s footsteps or even at least take her as a good example. This is definitely a superb article to show the world that materialism is not the only thing that can make us happy, we will only gain real happiness when we help someone in need.
Beautiful hero with a beautiful heart.
Rinpoche is so right to said that she has her priorities set right. She gave up her car to save a life, and nothing is more beautiful than that.
What is even more heart warming is towards the end of the video, an anonymous donor decided to pay for Lilly’s medical expenses, and Jessie in return, donated whatever amount for Lilly’s medical expenses to save other animals that enters the vet’s clinic.
Thank you.
This is really a heartwarming story of compassion in action! Can’t imagine what will happen to Lily if she didn’t meet Jessie, the incredible kind and loving teenage girl. We must create the awareness not to harm animals by sharing this blog post with friends. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing.
Good to know there is still kindness around. It is extremely important that children are being brought up to learn how to love animals as that is the best way to nurture compassion which manifest in to actions like Jessie’s. She must have been given that environment of love towards animals to grow up in which has led to this wonderful positive outcome.
From this story it also shows how Lily is so intelligent and knows how to ask for help. I always believe that because animals cannot talk, they have a special six sense to attune themselves to the energy that is being given out by others/humans. Definitely without a doubt animals are intelligent and they know. It is wonderful to see compassion in action by wonderful youths as they are our future, Bravo Jessie, what a beautiful inspiring story and friendship!
