Impossible Friendship??
A HEARTWARMING VIDEO TO SHARE WITH FAMILY, FRIENDS AND ALL….
As the only species on Earth who hunts other beings for entertainment… it’s refreshing for us, when we see interaction between two different animals, treating each other with affection.
Humans have decided which animals deserve to be pets, which animals deserve to be used for their meat, which animals deserve to be hunted etc…
We have created these categories ourselves… and it differs from culture to culture. Some animals which are considered pets in one culture, are considered meat in others.
Nature didn’t make it that way, we did.
The video below shows us something that we could maybe learn… unbiased friendship. This cat and a few dolphins seem to have taken an interest in each other! Very cute.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article. This is indeed a rare friendship between a cat and dolphin. This is also my first time seeing this. I feel that they have a strong connection with one another. The cat is not even afraid of the dolphin which is bigger in size than the cat.
With folded palms,
Vivian
Animals are capable of showing affection, kindness and amazement to each other, even with those of different species. It is very endearing and spirit lifting to watch the genuine display of friendship between the cat and the dolphins. The least we can do for the harmless animals is not to hurt them in any way, this, includes not turning them into a pile of meat that ends up on our dinner plate just to satisfy misguided taste bud. And, if animals can love each others and be friends with each other who lead completely different life without judgement, we as human should be ashamed of ourselves who continuously create disunity and disharmony for petty reasons.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this post.
This is a really amazing video on how animals are able to maintain relationships better than humans. Hehe. This is extremely heartwarming and admirable. True friendship does not have barriers like race, gender, species or attitude. True friendship is when to beings meet and they are oddly attracted to each other on a friendship level.
This video is so cute! I would have never imagined a dolphin and a cat being such good friends like this. And they are like, totally different animals which makes this friendship truly special. Thank you for sharing Rinpoche.
True friendship transcends all barriers. It is so heartwarming to see this video. We humans have so much to learn from this. Though the cat and the dolphins are world apart, one lives on land and the other is a sea creature, yet they shared something in common – true
friendship. Animals have feelings too and it’s always so sad to see humans hunting and killing them for their personal entertainment and enjoyment.
Here’s another touching story: http://blog.tsemtulku.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/animals-vegetarianism/friendship-without-barriers.html
Animals is just amazing, i don’t know how to explain it but a lot of the animals they don’t care who they are, they just want to make friends with each other. I wish that no more animals will be killed anymore and one day may all sentient beings live in peace for ever. Thank you for reading
Aww..hahaha this is so so cute! This video has proved that vary species of animals can befriend with each other too. Friendship is not about skin colour, nationality, religion etc. Its about not being racist and be a friend to the people from other races.
Thank You for sharing Rinpoche.
Love, beatrix.
This is so nice and cute … p(≧◇≦)q
Impossible Friendship? Possible…
The dolphin who is about many times bigger than our feline friend accepts the friendship and adoration from the cat. What a great way to live life!
Thank You Rinpoche to share this beautiful clips ^^, ^^,
Such a heart-warming clips ~~~~ I LOVE Dolphin VERY MUCH!!!! They are human friends ^^, ^^, DO allowed me to share some info here.
Dolphins have evolved over millions of years, adapting perfectly to life in the ocean. They are intelligent, social and self-aware, exhibiting evidence of a highly developed emotional sense. Here are just a few of the issues with captivity.
– Captures of dolphins are traumatic and stressful and can result in injury and death of dolphins. The number of dolphins that die during capture operations or shortly thereafter are never revealed in dolphinariums or swim-with-dolphins programs. Some facilities even claim their dolphins were “rescued” from the ocean and cannot be released. This claim is almost invariably false.
– Training of dolphins is often deliberately misrepresented by the captive dolphin industry to make it look as if dolphins perform because they like it. This isn’t the case. They are performing because they have been deprived of food.
– Most captive dolphins are confined in minuscule tanks containing chemically treated artificial seawater. Dolphins in a tank are severely restricted in using their highly developed sonar, which is one of the most damaging aspects of captivity. It is much like forcing a person to live in a hall of mirrors for the rest of their life their image always bouncing back with no clear direction in sight.
Please have a look this video clips, a dolphin trying to escape from the tank during a marine show, which happen at the Aquarium in southwestern Japan, 2010.

If you watch it carefully, you can see clearly that the dolphin really want to get out of the tank BADLY!! Can you imagine how suffer are they!!!
So, please stop going dolphin/whale shows OR Swim-with-Dolphins programs. There’s related association(NGO) working out to stop all the Aquarium show around the world!
Thank You (with folded hand)
I know of people who have their pet dogs and their pet cats live together in great harmony. Cats and dogs are known to be arch enemies. This shows me that if any relationship is nurtured with much patience, love and care, great differences can be overcame and harmony can be achieved. 😀
WL
don forget, there might be some karmic relations as well. 🙂
OMB! I thought that cats love to EAT anything that swims, not befriend them. The video is so cute. It comes to show that any form of life can be friends regardless of the gap between species. Same goes for humans. It doesn’t matter if you are black or white, you are still a living being that deserves the friendship of others. Humans have a lot to learn from animals.
Thank you, Rinpoche, for this lovely video. How charming and sweet to see the dolphin and the cat showing such loving affection for each other. How heart-warming to see the dolphin do so with a wide smile on its face.
One of my cats also does this to one of my other cats all the time. But she doesn’t do this to the other cats. So she is also practicing selective affection. And she is surely an unhappy cat, because she’s always attacking one of the other cats and, at the same time, living in fear of being attacked by my fourth cat.( I agonize over her problem but cannot find an animal psychiatrist to help me help her).
Both the dolphin and cat in the video and my cats teach us such vital lessons. We, beings, will be happier beings if we accept and love one another , without the discrimination, bias and prejudice that are based on the labels and categories that we have mentally constructed with all beings and phenomena.
I totally agree on what everybody says.
Actually we humans got a lot to learn from the animals. As a matter of fact, planet earth does not belong to anyone in particular, only we humans laid claim to it. “Nature didnt make it that way, we did,” said our guru, Tsem Rinpoche. Of course we dont hold animals superior to human beings, or even equal to us, we are a more superior specie, uniquely capable of imagination, rationality and moral choice. But, that doesnt mean we cant share this planet peacefully and happily with them, as in the golden words of Dr.Martin Lurther King Jr:-
“One day the absurdity of the most universal human belief in the slavery of other animals will be palpable. We shall then have discovered our souls, and become worthier of sharing this planet with them.”
Wow..lovely to see, made me smile 🙂 Nice to see the cat and dolphin interacting like that! Goes to show we are all inter connected!
The dolphin and the cat share so much differences and yet they can get along. They don’t even make the same sounds. We, as humans have so much to learn from them although amongst ourselves, we have so much in common. But most of the time, we choose only to look at the differences and ignore the similarities. I just love this video because it says so much without any words and it is very endearing to see the smiling dolphin play with the little kitten. If we only open ourselves to things we have in common, we can bridge any divide.
I love this video and just had to share it on FB! In my opinion there’s no such thing as impossible, only different levels of improbable. Thanks for sharing a lovely story Rinpoche. 🙂
True friendship knows no barrier. It transcends colour, creed, race, species, time, distance etc. It’s a very deep connection between one being to another and somehow there is always common understanding. There are people we see everyday, yet we have nothing in common to share. On the other hand, we may have friends we hardly see due to distance or time constraint but the friendship always remain strong. It always seem like there is no time gap since we last saw each other although it may have been a while. I treasure such unconditional friendship very much.
Excellent and nice videos . i like it very much
Nice : )
Amazing video of heart warming affections.
