Help Herbie please

“We need this poster to be shared with EVERYONE across the United States and BEYOND. We have to find the person(s) responsible for Herbie’s condition. Please forward to your friends, post at work if you can… do what you can to get the word out. It costs you nothing but it is PRICELESS! — with Jonny Rio, April Peterson and Pam Hoffmann.”

This is from Herbie’s page: On Saturday, Dec 1, 2012 the Lorain Police received an anonymous tip that a badly injured dog was left on the tree lawn of an abandoned house. Officers arrived at the home, located at 816 West 11th Street to find a very emaciated and injured animal. The male dog was identified as a possible Pit or Pit mix. The police report is attached under “FILES” above. According to Patrolman Broz, “I observed a light brown dog, possibly a pit bull, lying in the grass. Every rib, vertebrae, and leg bone could be plainly observed beneath it’s skin. I have never seen such an emaciated dog, still alive, in my career. A dog of this type should weigh around 75 or more pounds and this dog appeared to be around 25 to 30 pounds. The top of the dogs head was grotesquely swollen, apparently from an infected puncture wound, to nearly twice it’s expected size. The swelling actually was forcing the dog’s eye lids closed. Yellow-green purulent discharge was seen coming from both eyes.”

THE GOAL OF THIS PAGE is to accept donations to offer a reward for the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator of this crime. We also want to raise awareness of the need for stricter laws imposed on those people who are guilty of animal neglect, abuse etc. Right now in the state of Ohio you can be punished worse for stealing your neighbors tires than for killing his dog.- From Pat Fogo

Right now Herbie is in the care of the vets at the Lorain Animal clinic. On top of neglect and abuse they have also discovered that he has cancer. Because of this they are keeping a watchful eye on him at the clinic, where he will probably live out the rest of his days. He is shown a lot of attention and love, as well as constant veterinary care. – From Pat Fogo

No Jen Mogg, he had a fractured skull at some point but now there is a tumor in there as well that requires periodic draining.- From Pat Fogo

Try pulling up the Facebook page called Justice For Herbie, the Abused Lorain, Ohio Dog. There should be numerous pictures there and a few videos.– From Pat Fogo

Herbie has stablized, but he is blind in one eye, has cataracts in the other and it was just determined shortly after Christmas that is is now also suffering from a untreatable form of cancer. He continues to eat, relieve himself outside and walk, but he sleeps quite a bit. We really have no idea how long he will live, but as long as he’s here he is receiving exceptional care. You can see more pictures and updates on his own facebook page.-from Pat Fogo

Look at the before and after pictures of Herbie! Love is so important to have in our hearts.

Herbie now after love, care and treatment.

Dear Alison, I will also blog it to create awareness. Thank you dear Alison for being so compassionate, kind and caring. I like people like you who don’t sit by and just say what a shame, but does something about it. May you be continually blessed and even more successful. All these innocent beings without a voice cry out to you for help and you have heard them. Bless you.

Herbie Found His Voice (and it’s through us)

“I’m Herbie. I wish I could talk to you but we don’t really speak the same language.I know a few human words. I know “get,”  “move,”and “worthless.”  Besides that, I’m not in the best of shape right now so I’m not very talkative. I’m happy to take a nice nap after a meal, and enjoy the attention around me.

Sometimes there are bright flashes in front of me, but I really can’t see much. My eyes are not doing what they’re supposed to. Someone said the word cataract and I may have heard “blind”? But I’m not sure. I don’t know what that means.

I used to dream about my life, or what I remember of it. I don’t remember being a puppy, or playing. I do remember being cold and alone. My tummy hurt so badly for a long time, then one day I didn’t feel it any more. I started sleeping a lot. It was the best way to not feel bad.

If I knew who my owner was… and if I could tell you I would. I can’t see them anymore, except in nightmares. I was so afraid of them because I hurt a lot of times when they were around me. I thought they loved me. I would creep closer to them, trembling but hoping for a kind hand.

I began to spend all my days in a cage. No one came to check on me. I wasn’t strong enough to cry. My head hurt so badly and my eyes closed tightly shut. I started to wonder if my owner didn’t love me any more. Why didn’t they love me anymore?

One day I was thrown into a moving thing. My owners’ hand touched me for the last time. I felt the cold air and hit the hard ground. No one was around. It got very quiet. I thought- I should just close my eyes and go away.  Why did my owner leave me here? What did I do? If they come back I promise to be better. Just touch my head once in a while.  Say my name. Anything so that I know I’m something.

I don’t know how long I lay there. Then I heard footsteps. Someone touched me. I was so scared they would hurt me too. I didn’t mean to, but I made a little growling noise. Please just go away and let me fade off into the darkness.

I was put in a warm moving thing this time. I heard a soft voice saying everything would be all right. Then more moving, and many hands were touching me at once. I was so afraid!

So many things were happening at once. So many voices. I couldn’t hear what everyone was saying. “Make it,” or “Put to sleep,” ? I heard “treatment,” and “surgery,” and “a long road ahead.” But it was warm here and hands were soft. Voices spoke sweet words I couldn’t understand – they sounded like angels singing.

Now I can stand, and everyone makes loud, fussy noises. That makes me happy. I’m doing something right! They like me! I got to eat food- and out of their hands! Now, they ask me to walk a little bit. I like the word walk! Afterwards I get to snuggle with a blanket and sleep again. This time, though, I am happy. I am loved. And I am alive!

Thank you for loving me. ~ Herbie

Dear Friends,

I came across Herbie on my FB wall and was shocked and so deeply saddened. It pains me to see this type of abuse. It benefits no one. Please go onto Herbie’s facebook page and leave your love, comments and help in anyway. Let Herbie, the people who compassionately helped him and all the Herbies in the world know this is not right. Thank you for doing something good and caring.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article. Why would Herbie’s owner starve Herbie and throw him out? In my opinion, if you do not want the pet anymore, just send it for adoption. If the owner dislikes the dog, just send it away to other people rather than torturing the poor little dog until it is malnutrition. Pets need our love and care too. If the owner cannot give love and care, then it is better they don’t even think of having a dog at home.

    With folded palms,

It really saddened me to read about news like this, what did the dog ever done to you that made you so crazy until you had to left the dog to die? This is so cruel man! Poor Herbie, not a single living being deserves this! No matter if you’re a human or an animal, it’s just very wrong to have actions like this taken.

  3. Lucas Roth on Jan 12, 2014 at 12:47 am

this is so horrible! how can someone do this??? I very strongly hate animals abusers, they make me sick, how can this be in their nature!?!?!?! some people… I am so happy Herbie is better and healthier. Thank you for sharing Rinpoche.

  4. Vinnie Tan on Oct 3, 2013 at 3:22 am

It is just sad how some people can just treat animals like this. There are even people that claim to be animal lovers, but they are constantly consuming meat products, saying that it is super delicious and they would die if they are not able to consume these food again.

These people are just so contradicting, they say they love animals, yet on the other hand, they are killing these animals.

I really hope that Herbie is now fine and has a carrying family to take care of it. It is just heart breaking to see news like that.

  5. Ong Moh Mei on Feb 26, 2013 at 11:26 pm

There are many people who yet believe in karma, reincarnation and lower realms. Even if one does not believe these, it is unnecessary to be cruel to animals. It does not show our superiority over another species but only our ignorance and stupidity.

  6. Wei Theng on Feb 11, 2013 at 12:10 am

It’s really sad to hear about Herbies. How could someone do such cruel actions to a dog??!!!
Lately through Rinpoche’s sharings and I started to look around. I learned that animal abused is not new and it’s happening everywhere. What I cannot stand is a lot of animals are abused and abandoned by it’s owner! I just can’t imagine why someone wants to have a pet but will just treat it like a toy and abuse it! This action is worse than an animal!
I believe we have to create awareness to solve this other than just help whichever animal that we saw. I will share this and will support more group that create awareness to stop animal abuse.

  7. Davin on Jan 15, 2013 at 6:44 pm

Can’t believe that there are actually people out there who can abandon a dog after abusing it so badly. This is so cruel. It really hurt to see how much suffering Herbie had went through. My prayers to Herbie that may he live out the rest of his days in loving and safe surrounding.

  8. pavara on Jan 13, 2013 at 9:50 pm

we should not harm these animals because they have feelings too.so can everyone donate for herbie please!!!!!!!!!! share this post with people you see.together we can contribute for herbies causes.we should share this post even if we dont have facebook.(there are other ways example through gmail.)

  9. Kim on Jan 13, 2013 at 1:24 am

It is always disheartening to see all these cruelty acts on animals.
In these modern days, humans are still behaving like those in uncivilized stone age era.

Over here in Brunei, CAS (Care and Actions for Strays) is also constantly trying to rescue the sick, abused and abandoned stray animals.

For the past 9 months or so, there are many fatalities, exhaustion and tears as CAS is fighting hard with canine distemper outbreak
and many CAS sterilized dogs in foster homes and feeding sites have been affected in one way or another because CAS could not afford the regular vaccination costs.

There are some CAS Activity ‘sales’ events from time to time,
trying to raise funds for the strays by selling some merchandise
and also create awareness to public to love animals and sterilize their pets but apparently these are not enough to cover the huge medical bills incurred!

Do check out on CAS Facebook when free : http://www.facebook.com/careandactionsforstrays.com

CAS is in desperate need of support now
Please help spread the word, smoothen the path for the CAS animals please?

    Thank You!!

It saddens me to see Herbie being abandon for his conditions, the previous owner is just heartless. Thanks to the kind officer who notice Herbie and take action into helping Herbie instead just pass through. Am happy to hear that Herbie now is doing well and eating, lets prays and dedicate the merits for Herbie good health and swift recovery.

I just can’t believe that they are such stupid people in this world that would abuse an animal just for the sick of it or for entertainment purposes. Take one of the most viral case of Dog abuse in Malaysia i know, Sushi the Toy Poodle and guess what the whole reason they abuse? Just to make it stand on it’s Hind Legs. Seriously my thoughts are

    1. That the Malaysian Government is not taking any stern action on people that abused animals in Malaysia.

    2. Why would people want to abuse animals when they won’t get anything out of it except Bad Karma?

3.Some Governments don’t even care if their citizens or arious Governments in the Worldtourists that visit their country abuse animals. It is their responsibility and yet they do nothing.

    4. Animals Abusers should be taught what it is like t be abused, and then serve their sentence.

    5. Goverments in the world should be taught what is abuse like a an animal’s point of view.

  12. Albert Ratchaga on Jan 12, 2013 at 9:49 pm

Herbie has cancer too, just like human, whatever sickness we have, they have it too, would we abuse another human physically like how we abuse the animals? can’t we feel their pain too?

Herbie is brave and strong, he been through a lot, now let love befall onto him, let our voices reaches him, he needs support, physically and mentally. Let us do our part and send our prayer to him.

  13. AdelineTan on Jan 11, 2013 at 5:24 pm

How can a person can be so cruel to an animal? It brought tears to my eyes when i saw the pictures of Herbie in such a traumatic conditions.Thank goodness Herbie now is well loved and well taken care of, prayed that he’ll have a long and happy life.

  14. Karen Chong on Jan 11, 2013 at 1:50 pm

There is no excuse for abuse and cruelty to animals. If we human afraid of these treatments on ourselves or loved ones, then we should not inflict such hurt to any living organism. No one deserves such excruciating pain.

The education for the young generation is important. Strong morals like compassion and kindness should be imparted to the kids. Here’s a FB page set up by a few beautiful and dharmic young kids. Please support this cause: https://www.facebook.com/AnimalBefriendersCoalition?fref=ts

  15. Sean Wang on Jan 10, 2013 at 8:41 pm

I really wonder how could someone do such evil things to such a gentle creature. I hate that cruelty like this happen. People should be more aware of the amount of cruelty happening to animals worldwide. It is not just dogs, but cats, birds, livestock.. THEY ALL HAVE FEELINGS. They all feel pain. Just like Herbie. I have done some prayers for Herbie. Hope he has a good life and nice next one!

  16. abby f on Jan 10, 2013 at 11:14 am

If you think that human beings are superior to the animals, then act like you really do by protecting them please… Why abuse someone who can’t even fight back?

Superior should be showed in the way of, we take good care and protect all the animals. If animals could protect human beings, example for this point: http://blog.tsemtulku.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/animals-vegetarianism/amazing-dogs-protected-human-baby.html and http://blog.tsemtulku.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/animals-vegetarianism/stabbed-in-between-the-eyes.html , then why say we are superior to animals if we abuse and ignore them?? If we continue to say we are the most superior creatures on this planet but we keep abuse and ignore the animals, then we are just like gangster. This shows that we are uneducated because this is too illogical. We should be humble and more loving to animals and the planet, then yes, we are superior because we capable to take care the whole planet, we take good care and give love and justice.

    Stop abusing animals please!

  17. Leann Lim on Jan 9, 2013 at 5:51 pm

Can’t believe Herbie still alive under this worst conditions. Really cannot understand why the person can treat a life in this cool blooded, heartless behavior. They never respect life, where is their humanity.

But in the other hand, there is still caring, compassionately people around the world. They giving their love hand to help suffer beings. Their action is comfort and warming our heart. Thank you for all of them.

We must share out all this news, severe reprimand abuser. To aware everyone including kids, this is not right. May Herbie free for suffering the rest of life, happy and healthy.

  18. Carmen K. on Jan 9, 2013 at 2:40 pm

What would make someone abuse animals, I do not know. If mankind can hurt and inflict pain on one another without blinking an eye, then I am sure hurting anything else is without a doubt.

Such is the cruelty, and terrifying nature of what mankind can be. I am not surprised. Love, compassion, kindness, and care arises from caring for those who can’t speak for themselves first. Why? Because then you know totally that it is not for selfish gains. Caring for animals is an excellent way to develop compassion. Abusing them shows what kind of animal humans can really be sometimes.

I’m glad that Herbie is okay now, though he’s having a battle of his life. At least it is under great and sincere care from those around him.

There are many Herbies out there still, just as how many kids, older people, women are still being abused. As long as there are humans, abuse wouldn’t stop. It is our duty to prevent these cases happening as much as possible and to educate society, from young, to love and care for all of our furry friends around the world.

  19. HelenaC on Jan 9, 2013 at 1:47 pm

I hate to see all these animal abuse news, make me very sad, and heartache why can human do this to these helpless beings??!! It is such a cruel act!! No compassion, heart, humanity, morality at all!!! So sad to hear about Herbie story 🙁
Hope he is well not although he has so much sickness now, may he always bless by the 3 jewel and no suffer in the future and have a good rebirth in next life.

  20. patsy on Jan 9, 2013 at 12:46 pm

This is unbelievable. How can anyone who is sane do this inhuman action? Herbie must have gone through a lot of abuse and torture for a long time to be in this condition. Poor doggie.

My prayers to Herbie that he will have love and care for the rest of his live.

  21. K T GOH on Jan 9, 2013 at 12:34 pm

It is such an inhumane act to treat animals in this manner. My heart pains and my stomach nearly throws out when I see Herbie in such a condition. This reminds me the first time I watched Earthlink in Kechara that was 2 years ago, I could not swallow food properly into my throat for nearly 2weeks. Imagine watching the sharp knife chopping and slashing on all the animals/fishes throat and watching them bleeding to death. From that time onwards changed me immediately to become Vegetarian.

I hoped the owner of Herbie be arrested and convicted of this heinous crime.

4 years ago I rescued a puppy who was only about 3 weeks old. Puppy walked into my garden with a huge swollen eye and one part of the body hair missing. In actual fact, I do not like dogs but when I see this puppy, my heart immediately saddened and quickly rescued and nursed his swollen eye with aloe vera which I planted in my garden. Later on I took the puppy to the Vet to check on his eye and was confirmed ok. After more than one year with me I was told by an elderly friend to give away my dog because dog gives me bad luck. I told that person how can I give away when my dog was so loving and grateful to me and did nothing wrong to me. We shouldnt blame on the dog when things goes wrong, we should blame ourselves. I always tell my dog named – Lucky, that he is my priority and till death do us part. Wherever I go, I will make sure his meals are not missed etc.

  22. Joy on Jan 9, 2013 at 1:31 am

Humans can really be worst than an animal at times. We have the potential to love and protect those around us, those are weak and those who are less capable, yet we abuse our power and we betray our best friends. I am so disgusted by whoever is Herbie’s previous owner… I am sure there is “karma” and I must say I hope he gets his karma soon. How can anyone be this cruel we may ask… well we should not ask because up until today we still see many outrageous cruelty towards animals all around the world.

Herbie is just one of the many millions hurt and abuse daily. If we really do care, we can start first by educating children from school right up to adults. We should have stricter rules and laws to arrest those that abuse any animals. We should stop the animal trade industry and if possible, we should stop eating meat all together. All this adds to creating awareness and a collective movement in preventing animal cruelty. May Herbie case gives us the opportunity to show compassion in action. And if we don’t like animals… at least we don’t cause pain, harm and hurt as we would not like it happening to us. So vice versa.

  23. Girlie Ooi on Jan 8, 2013 at 10:19 pm

People get away from causing harm to other human beings; what more harming animals who can never voice out the pain and hurt they have to suffer.

May Herbie live out the rest of his life with love from those looking after him.

  24. beatrix ooi on Jan 8, 2013 at 9:50 pm

Oh dear.. How can people treat animals this way? When they don’t talk or fight back doesn’t mean they do not have feelings. Inside them, it hurts. The world will be a much better place if the people change their perspectives about dogs/animals and treat them as our friends or even humans. Abusing/slaughtering a dog is the same as abusing/killing a person, both of them are living beings and they deserve to live..
    Thank You for sharing Rinpoche.
    Love, beatrix.

  25. Lim Han Nee on Jan 8, 2013 at 9:50 pm

Herbie’s swollen head and malnourished condition and all the evidence of severe abuse testify to the cruelty of humans who would neglect and abandon and harm these furry animals who cannot speak up for themselves.

I am happy now for Herbie that he will spend the last days of his life being cared for by rare loving people. Above all he will no longer be in pain. Despite having a tumor in the brain and cancer, may he continue to live the rest of his life in peace, being surrounded by much love and care.

  26. Milly on Jan 8, 2013 at 9:25 pm

It is so unthinkable in today’s society that man is so cruel and treat their pets or animals in this manner. Herbie must have suffered for a long time to be in this condition now. One can literally count his ribs. How will we feel if we are treated like this. Stiff punishment must be imposed to prevent innocent animals to be treated so badly. May Herbie live out the rest of his days in loving and safe surrounding.

  27. jennifer on Jan 8, 2013 at 7:15 pm

How can anyone do this to another living being ? It truly pains me to the core to see the photos and read about Herbie’s condition.

I really want the person who did this caught and charged for committing such a cruel act. I’m just so angry and saddened how people can be so evil – i have no other word to describe such an action.

My prayers are with you Herbie and lots of love to you .

  28. tenzin llhamo on Jan 8, 2013 at 6:55 pm

It is really painful to see the pictures. It brought tears to my eyes. I feel so sad for the hurt, pain and karma that Herbie is going thru. How can someone hurt another being like that? Although Herbie is saved but now he is diagnosed with cancer. I hope that Herbie will continue to eat well and recover from the abuse he went thru.
I pray for you Herbie and the many ‘Herbies’ out there! May you all never have to suffer like that again…

  29. Lucas Roth on Jan 8, 2013 at 6:46 pm

oh my, i can’t believe that someone would go to the point to do this to a dog. poor herbie. please let him live a better life from now. stop animal cruelty!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  30. William on Jan 8, 2013 at 6:33 pm

Unbelievable, there are actually people out there who can abandon a dog after abusing it so badly. The poor dog must have been abused and tortured for a long time as it’s body is only bones and skin. It takes a long time to be in that state. Poor doggie who has to fight to survive. Herbie is a fighter.

It must be someone who does not have a heart for any living being. Even for me who is not an animal lover would not do such a thing to another living being. May the karma for hurting this dog comes back to haunt person who is guilty.

  31. Julien Roth on Jan 8, 2013 at 5:34 pm

What a cute dog! What kind of person would do this to a dog like this? I wish i could do more to help with him. And im am so happy that he is recovering fast and that the people that are looking after him are nice people. Thank you for sharing Rinpoche.

  32. sarahyap on Jan 8, 2013 at 5:32 pm

Oh dear.. how can anyone treat an animal like a play toy and throw it away when they feel like it…

Everyone, please please share this on facebook, twitter and even to animal rescuer groups that are well know in your country. I know creating awareness through facebook works as I recently managed to re-home a dog that was about to be euthanize through these social media platform.

When we share cases such as this, it is for everyone to see and be aware that such things do happen… we are sending everyone a message “Hey look, keep your eyes open coz there may be a being lying on the side of the road that needs your help urgently”

Please don’t ignore Herbie just because you are not in America and think it is not related to you… there are a lot of dogs around the world that needs people to help them out too.

Hopefully Herbie will now live a life free of pain until his last.

  33. Sheryl KH (JB) on Jan 8, 2013 at 12:56 pm

Humans have close relationship with dogs since hundreds and thousands of years ago. As a result of this, dogs have very close relationship with human beings as compared to other animals such as chickens.

Dogs seldom attack people, unless they fear of threats. They cannot speak and they are vulnerable to many actions that humans do to them. They will fight for their lives, but in many cases they do not win. It is very sad to see this.

Humans have the tendency to harm or put their weight over those whom they perceive as useless and vulnerable, even if these beings have genuine cares and love inside them.

I once came across a similar case of abandonment in my neighbourhood. Two dogs (One big one small) were left at road side early in the morning at 6am+. According to information given by a kid, he saw a car left these dogs and hussed them away when these dogs were trying to get back to the car. If this is true, I couldnt believe how cruel their owner was and how badly these dogs must have felt. These people left the dogs near a hawker centre, so maybe they just thought that somebody would feed these dogs with some left over foods everyday. True enough, there were still some kind souls who really did this. Their temporary place was full of foods. Without getting much into details, these two dogs were taken away after a few days, I was told that somebody drove a car to pick them up. I hope they are now in good hands.

I pray for Herbie’s well being and happiness, and that he will have endless love showered on him for as long as he lives in this world. May he suffer no pain as a result of his cancer and the associated treatments.

Dogs give unconditional love to us. What they need are very simple and what they are capable of giving is more than what we can believe and imagine.

I have recently adopted a dog from Romania, she was found wandering lost in a market place. Not sure how she came to be homeless, she looked like she had been well cared for, but would not survive a winter on the streets there.

My sister has set up a facebook page to help put prospective owners in touch with dogs and cats looking for a forever home. If anyone is interested let me know and i will sort out the details for you.

Another person there (Romania) has set up her own rescue shelter and would be greatful of any help for food, blankets, beds etc

There are lots of “Herbies” out there, if you can why not help one find a loving home.

        Dear Rinpoche,

The sanctuary is called “Sava’s Safe Haven” they have a web page, a facebook page (which is where i learned about them, and a youtube account with videos of the rescued dogs and the shelter they have built.

My sisters facebook page is called “paws of hope” which people can post about dogs and cats needing a new home or help with vets bills etc for strays. It was a post on here that led me to adopt my dog 🙂

The postal service seems pretty good in Romania, my sister sent some Christmas presents to a friend there from the UK (where we live) without any trouble.

The “National Mill Dog Rescue” page is worth a look too on facebook, some more people doing good work!

I will try and post a picture on your facebook page of my dog.

        John 🙂

Sometimes I wonder why a person can do such cruel things to animals. It is totally unnecessary and nobody gain anything out of such actions.

It is good to hear that Herbie doesn’t have to suffer from hunger anymore, thanks to everyone who help him out of this nasty situation. Even though it is sad to hear about his eyes and cancer, at least he is not suffering from hunger anymore.

Please help to share this news on the social media with the motivation to educate people not to abuse animals!

Buddhism is one of the most ancient belief systems and is practiced today by nearly 350 million people around the world.
Bettany Mary Hughes is an English historian, author, and broadcaster, specialising in classical history. Bettany Hughes travelled to the seven wonders of the Buddhist world. Where she documented a unique insight into the seven wonders that explained the long and rich history of Buddhism 2500 years ago . Truly fascinating documentary that’s one should watch. Started off her journey with Bodh Gaya in India, the Bodanath Stupa in Nepal, the Temple of The Tooth in Sri Lanka, Wat Pho Temple in Thailand, Angkor Wat in Cambodia, the Giant Buddha in Hong Kong and the Hsi Lai Temple in the United States. At each location, she meets with Buddhist scholars who explain the different concepts that form the core of Buddhist philosophy, giving insight into the long and rich history of Buddhism. Interesting sharing.
    Thank you Rinpoche.

Religious discrimination remains a significant issue globally, impacting various aspects of life. The Dorje Shugden controversy in Tibetan Buddhism involves accusations of religious discrimination against devotees of the Poweful Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. Dorje Shugden was a powerful Protector associated with the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. H H the Dalai Lama previously practice Dorje Shugden’s practice but somehow later discouraged the practice, citing concerns about sectarianism ,its perceived role as a spirit. Dorje Shugden’s practitioners have reported feeling ostracized and discriminated against by the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) and those supporting the Dalai Lama. The controversy has divided the Tibetan community and has been a source of contention and tension. CTA had breached the rights of every Dorje Shugden practitioners to what they pray . Many families are torn apart by this. Dorje Shugden people had to break away from their monasteries .Religious freedom and human rights are interconnected. Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion regardless of race and faith. Religious freedom is one of the most fundamental of human rights. The discrimination that Dorje Shugden practitioners are experiencing today has similarities to other historic bigotry and prejudices such example was the African American Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s,and the Women’s Suffrage Movement. Racism affects virtually every country in the world. It denies people their full human rights just because of their colour, race, ethnicity, descent or national origin. The most prevalent discrimination that we see today are national origin and race discrimination. May there be peace, unity, harmony and based on compassion, acceptance and universal freedom of religious choice without discrimination or recriminations of any kind.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

The Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala, India is said to be thousands of years old, built in the Dravidian style, and houses more secrets than most people can ever dream of. That’s interesting. This temple is a legendary secret chamber that has remained unopened for centuries. Legends and local beliefs it is protected by powerful deities and a curse. The door is said to be sealed with a mystical spell, and it is believed that anyone attempting to open it without proper rituals will face grave consequences, having met with mysterious deaths or terrible misfortune. Locals had warns that attempting to open Vault B without proper rituals and respect for the deities could unleash untold calamities and misfortune. Stories abound of previous attempts to open the vault had failed that resulted in terrifying visions and other supernatural occurrences, and tragic fates for those involved. Some believe that the vault contained ancient treasures , wealth and divine relics . Previously temple workers reportedly tried to force open the door, resulting in the terrifying experiences described in legends. It’s not just a place of worship but also a vault of mysteries. Modern attempts using technology have also failed to open the door, as if some force is protecting it. Every attempt to open Vault B has failed. The door remains closed, and no one know of the contents within, whether wealth, divine relics, or something else entirely, are unknown to the world . No one dare to try opening it since at least the 1880s recording to reports. Interesting article .

Revisit this interesting truth where not many people knew the actual story behind . With great effort and research finally the story unfolded. In Tibet, Oracles play, an important part in principal roles assisting governmental decision-making and providing intelligence revelation, religion, doctrine, and prophecy. To this day the Tibetan government still believe and rely in Nechung Oracle. When Nechung oracle took trance, it is actually spirit Nyatrul who has causes problems and misprophecies. Nechung is bound by oath to protect the Dharma. Nechung prophecies are unreliable, most probably given by Nyatrul spirit to the Tibetan government. Such as wrong medication given to the 13 th Dalai Lama as prescribed by the Nechung Oracle. Another misprophecies was during the British invasion. If it was really Nechung who took trance of the Oracle, these types of misprophecies would not have happen. As mentioned in the 6th Dalai Lama biography, we cannot trust or rely on Nechung’s prophecies. It was said that Nyatrul not Nechung who created the problems and harm to Dorje Shugden . It must have told HH the Dalai Lama to ban Dorje Shugden .
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor Jean Ai for this interesting article.

In Tibetan Buddhism, water offerings, particularly the seven or eight bowls offering, are a common practice used to express gratitude, cultivate merit, and purify the mind. The seven bowls represent essential aspects of offerings and can be offered daily, along with other items like flowers, incense, and lamps. Water offerings are probably the most common offering made in Tibetan Buddhism. Offering any item of value to the three jewels is the antidote to greed and attachment and helps to cultivate generosity. It is a powerful practice that can help us develop positive qualities such as generosity, devotion, and selflessness. By making water offering, we are creating good karma for ourselves and all sentient beings in the future. Great explanations and teachings all about water offerings.

H.H. Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche (1878–1941), also known as Dechen Nyingpo Jampa Tenzin Trinlay Gyatso, was one of the great lamas of the twentieth century. was a highly influential teacher in Tibet and a prominent lama in the 20th century. He was the root guru of the present Dalai Lama’s tutors and many other Tibetan lamas who brought the Dharma to the West. His teachings, particularly his book “Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand,” are significant in the Gelugpa tradition until this days.He was the root guru of the present Dalai Lama’s tutors, Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, and a teacher to many other Gelug lamas who fled Tibet. He had brought the Dharma to the West after 1959. His teachings covered various aspects of the Tibetan Buddhist path, including the seven-point mind training and the stages of the path to enlightenment. Rinpoche’s teachings are so famous that thousands of people would come from far and wide to attend. He was an extraordinary master for the Heruka Body Mandala and the Vajrayogini practice. Wow ……one of the many famous stories been told of how Heruka actually appeared to Pabongka when he visited Cimburi in Tibet and how Heruka image spoke to him. Interesting biography of a great master of all times.

The practice of Sangha in Buddhism involves building and cultivating a supportive community of practitioners who engage in shared spiritual practice, often focusing on mindfulness and concentration. This community provides mutual support, guidance, and encouragement on the path of self-discovery. The Sangha is not just a gathering of people; it’s a collective energy of mindfulness and compassion that benefits all members. It provides a supportive environment for individuals on their spiritual journey, offering guidance, encouragement, and a sense of belonging. Sharing experiences and insights within the Sangha can accelerate the learning process.
Thank you Thich Nhat Hanh for sharing and explaining all about the insight of sangha. Great sharing .

Wat Rong Khun better known as the White Temple, is a Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai province, Thailand. The gold symbolizes how people focus on worldly desires and money. The white building represents the idea to make merit and to focus on the mind. It is owned by a succesful Thai businessman who opened it to visitors in 1997. Awesome….This temple stands out through the white colour and use of pieces of glass that sparkle in the sun. The white colour signifies the purity of Buddha while the glass symbolizes Buddha’s wisdom. Located 3 hour drive from Chiang Mai built to honour and pay tribute to sacred Buddhist figures. Over time, temples grew in prominence and is one of the famous temples to visit in Thailand. I have visited years back its simple stunning temple which truly love the design and architecture .

Sak Yant, a traditional Thai tattooing practice, involves sacred geometrical and animal designs. Its often accompanied by Pali phrases, and is believed to offer power, protection, charisma, and other benefits to the wearer. Sak Yant tattoos are deeply rooted in Buddhist and spiritual beliefs, with each design and symbol carrying specific meanings and purported powers. Many designs are believed to provide protection against evil spirits, misfortune, and danger. Sak Yant tattoos are traditionally applied by monks or masters using a needle and ink, and the process is often accompanied by chants and blessings. I personally have not seen one yet . Sound interesting.

Jojo Struys is a travel and wellness personality, accredited yoga instructor, speaker and author. She visited Bangsar of Kechara outlet for a feature with Star Property. With her visit hopefully more people will get to know more of our Kechara . She had made a video with and Pastor David Lai all about Buddhist Arts. She openly admitted interested in Buddhist art . Buddhist art pieces have given her home a contemporary edge. Art was important to Buddhist religious life. It was not only part of ritual and worship but also served to transmit religious ideas, and artistic styles between cultures. Do agree with her statement ,…..if you want to change your life, change the way you think, because everything begins with you.”

n their theoretical model, rudeness has this impact on our ability to think because it engenders negative sadness, anger. Researchers have found that common negative behaviours can spread easily and have significant consequences. The best way to avoid rude people is to meet their acts of rudeness with kindness. Exposure to neurotoxins in society is not new. Children today are raised in an environment that is much different from those days. Nowadays they are exposed to behaviours, profane language, hostilities and stress from which we adults, raised a generation ago. Studies have shown that children exposed to serious psychological trauma during childhood are at risk of suffering increased psychiatric disorders. Interesting read.

Revisit this blog again . Reading comments in this blog Rich people have substantial assets and income, providing a sense of security and freedom from financial worries. Owning high-end cars, designer clothing and everything they want with their money. Rich people often have more time for leisure, hobbies, and travel, allowing them to pursue interests and experiences. They may live in large, luxurious homes and have or apartments, often in desirable locations and having personalized services. The fundamental difference in mindset between the rich and the poor is, the rich have understood a very simple principle money makes money. Rich people see money as an opportunity, while poor people see it as something to be earned. Poor people work hard for their money. It is the heart that makes a man rich. He is rich according to what he is, not according to what he has. Not he who has much is rich, but he who gives much. The primary difference between rich people and poor people is how they handle their wealth. My thought been rich in this world it is not what we take up, but what we give up, that makes us rich.

Found this old post …disturbing. Having a name especially a Bar linked to Buddha to be disrespectful towards Buddhism. After much controversy the owner had it removed. The Buddha Bar located in Sabah by a young owner which opened without much thought had many people complaining. Later was forced to have its controversial name changed to ‘Peacock Garden’ and had apologised for the controversial name. As a devout Buddhist, the name ‘Buddha Bar’ which serves alcohol, is disrespectful to the revered Buddha.

Siberia, considered the heartland of shamanism inhabited by many different ethnic groups, and many of its peoples observe shamanistic. Many of the indigenous communities reclaiming their traditional spiritual and healing practices . Interesting. Siberian shamanism is often called Tengerism, involves various rituals, including drumming, chanting, trance states, and offerings to nature spirits and ancestors. This religious practice has deep roots in Siberia and Central Asia in recent years with roots in the Turkic and Mongolic cultures. Many who have been live in a remote part of Russia, have preserved their shamanic traditions due to their isolation. Many customs of Tengrism are still been practiced where they emphasizes a deep respect for nature and its various spirits, including those of the earth, water, and mountains. They do believe in the continued existence of souls and the importance of honouring their ancestors.
Thank you Rinpoche sharing this ancient religion.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
