Immediately now!
Dear all, this is so important and urgent before it’s too late. I just found this write up on my FB wall and reproduced here. I will leave a link for you to go to and also enclosed is a phone number. Please help! Tsem Rinpoche
Please read below:
He used to be someone’s dog for the last 15 years until he gotten too old for everyone, and suddenly no one seems to be able to have time to take care of an aging old senior dog. Kids had gone to work in KL and mother is too old to care for the dog. Last solution? To have him surrender to the shelter…(at least it’s a no-kill shelter)
In a glimpse of an eye, he turn from a home pet to a shelter dog.
Many people do not know or perhaps they do know but decided to turn a blind eye on that home pet(s) can hardly survived in a shelter. They are not used to living with the existence of so many other dogs and they just do not understand why the dogs are fighting/growling at each other during meal time when they are used to having their own bowl filled with food serve directly in front of them at home.
With all these stress lurking at them, they will soon go into depression, fall sick and died eventually.
This dog was surrendered to the shelter last Sunday and within days, he has started to loose weight, leaving only with skin and bones. Not that the shelter is not feeding enough food but rather he just do not understand the “rules” of shelter dogs and the sudden lost of his once most beloved and trusted family. Why has his “Family” that has been with him for the last 15 years left him there? Did he do anything wrong? He just do not understand…
We sincerely hope that some good soul out there will be willing to claim him out from the shelter and give him a home with some tender loving care that he absolutely deserve until his last day on Earth.
If you are willing to take him in, please contact 012-4387875.

Sad story from a home pet to a shelter dog, wandering without love and caring his once hag. A homeless dog fighting with others dog to have foods for survives in shelter home. The sudden change in the surrounding had this poor dog goes into depression and lost of direction like human. Looking at the pictures tells us all, a skinny dog without direction. Never leave rather abandoned our pet dog even though our pet dogs is old. Give them love and care till the end. May this dog been adopted by one kind soul.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing
Thank you Rinpoche for the sharing. I hope this dog has been claimed and live happily in his new home.
This is so sad how they just left him there, he doesnt even know why he is there. All my family dogs are family to me and i will never do this to a pet of mine. At least it is a no kill shelter. Thank you for sharing Rinpoche.
This is another of those cases that I came across in my own neighborhood. The sole purpose for the owner to rare a dog was to use the dog natural instinct to guard it’s territory and to bark at strangers. This nature of the dog was used by human as pre-warning in case of an intrusion of a property. When the animal had grown too old to perform it’s duty, the most economical way of getting rid of it was to dump them to dogs’ shelter. The consequence of such action will return upon us in future where someone else will treat us like wise like a wheel of sharp weapon return upon us!
Dear Rinpoche, he is so thin until I can easily see his rips through his skin and he looked like he haven’t been eating for weeks now.Poor mumu, if I can adopt this dog I will adopt him for sure but the problem is that I live in a Condo and they do not allow us to keep pets such as dogs. I wonder how is he doing right now?
Dumping seems to be the easy option, but to every action there is always a reaction. Are we ready when someone abandons us when we have no options or little or leeway to voice their grouses.
entsHava
Very sad to see the state of the poor dog now. The family who adopted the dog when it was a puppy should have known that the dog will grow old one day.In fact.we would grow old too one day.I hope my children would not throw me into a old folks home ,when I become a burden to them.I would probably feel the same like the poor dog in the pound.
Sad to say ,after 15 years in the family. There is no feeling for the poor dog as they are parted. But I am sure the dog felt the lost…
I could only wish the poor dog could find a decent kind family to adopt him .
Poor dog… this is so sad to know this dog was abandoned by his owner because he is old and sick!! His owner really selfish and ungrateful!! Animal are no different with us, they need care and love too ! May Kechara Animal Sanctuary manifest to speak on their behalf, can provide a safe sanctuary for these poor animals !!
This is terrible! It is so sad to know that the family abandoned a friend of 15 years just like that because he grew old. Many people really do not understand the responsibility of having a dog as a pet and they neglect the dog or desert the dog when too much responsibility grows. This is such a selfish act towards a dog which has been so loyal, loving and friendly to its owner, until the end it got too old now he is being abandoned. I really hope someone soons adopts him and show him the love that he deserves. Thank you for spreading the awareness Rinpoche.
I contacted the person from the no kill shelter. The senior citizen dog has been “temporarily” taken back by its owner. That’s good news. If anyone wants to help out this no kill shelter, please contact the person above. They are SPCA Seberang Perai. Thank you in advance.
Thank you Choong, that was very kind and sincere of you to call the shelter for the dogs situation, glad to hear the good news, i hope that this ‘temporary’ solution would change the minds of the owner to continue to take care of him.
It is very sad to read about this story.Poor dog hope he can find a home soon.
If we translate this dog’s age to human years, it would be 105 years old. Would this dog owner abandon his/her parent when they have reached 105 ? Or is it just because the dog being an animal is less important and hence can be abandoned ?
As mentioned earlier by Sharon that people do abandon their aged parents and in this case their pets too. No wonder HUMANS are the greatest threat to ALL living beings !
Whoever the owner, who have kept the dog for 15 years should have got a common sense or understanding to know that animals have the ability to suffer in the same way and to the same degree as humans do. They feel pain, pleasures, fear, frustration, loneliness, and motherly love. Whenever we consider doing something that would interfere with their needs, we are morally obligated to take them into account. All supporters of animals’ rights will agree that animals have an inherent worth – i.e. a value completely seperate from their usefulness to humans. As Peter Singer, an animal liberator has stated, basic principle of equality does not require equal or identical treatment, it requires equal consideration. The animal capacity for sufferings are vital characteristics that give them the rights to equal considerations. Only prejudice allows us to deny others the rights that we expect to have for ourselves! As Peta advocated, “Take vital steps to cut thoughtless cruelty to animals out of your life and to educate others around you too!”
This is a heartbreaking read, but all too true.A great highlight of the irresponsibility of some people, the cruel and callous way they dispose of their once beloved pet as if it were a piece of rubbish!
May this dog suffer no more and find someone to adopt him soon.
Thank you for sharing Rinpoche.
A dog that was once cute and loved by the family is now abandoned and sent to a shelter home because he is old and the family have no time to take care of him. It’s a shame that his owner is such an irresponsible person and I hope that someone is kind enough to take in this dog and give him the love that he deserves.

Is another sad case that happen because of irresponsible act. We should not do that since the poor dog already old is dog is like our parents when they are old the need us the most we should not abandon them. Thank you Rinpoche for posting this news.
This is a heart breaking news as another dog is being abandoned by his owner. after staying with his owner for 15 year, this dog is forced to live in a different environment now and totally does not know how to survive among many other dogs around him. i sincerely pray that this dog will meet his new owner and deserved to be saved with compassion and protection. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing on this blog.
Poor little doggie, even though I don’t have a pet, because my mum is allergic to fur. I still feel so sad towards this dog. Anyone who wants to have a pet should really think about it. A pet is like your child, you have to nurture it and give it shelter. I can’t ever think of how my mum would just give me away to a shelter.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing
How could they do that to one who had spent so many years giving them unconditional love and guarding their home? So sad to see the dog in this condition, both mentally and physically down.
If you want to keep animals as pet, you must look after them with care and love from day one till they die, cannot abandon them or send them for euthanasia when they are old and sick. Like in this post the dog owner should find a nice home for their pet dog for so many years instead of sending him to the shelter which he cannot adept himself to that kind of environment and became very depressed and refused to eat because animals have feelings too. Hope this poor dog will find a home with love and care soonest possible.
Poor baby, hope he can find a home soon. Will pass the message around!
Such a poor doggie, I really do not understand why did the owner give him up, having a pet it’s a lifetime responsibility, until the pet is no longer alive. People are very irresponsible nowadays, when their pets do not turn out like what they wanted them to be, the owners will either disown them and give them away to pet shelters, or just abandoned them, throw them somewhere and let them be. This is very incorrect! Animals have feelings, especially the ones who have been with us for so many years!
My uncle once had a dog who named Charlie, when I looked back at the photos taken when I was young, I then realised that Charlie was very huge and furry! His fur was so white! Then later on when my uncle found out that he can’t take care of him anymore, he decided to give Charlie away. Charlie was very depressed and until one day, he was hit by a car and he passed away. I found out the story from my mum, I am very upset until now. I will never do that to my dog if I ever had one, because I will be nothing else but a murderer as the dog will become depressed and pass away very soon.
People must really consider carefully before getting a pet, cause it will be a great responsibility taking care of them.
Thank You for sharing Rinpoche.
Wishing that the dog can be well treated until last day.can people show their kindness, don’t be so cruel to animals.
Dear Rinpoche, this is extremely sad news. Why do people want to endeavour in the their own selfishness at the cost of an innocent dogs life? It is like having a child, taking care of it and abandoning it once it is not cute anymore. Despicable. It is sad to know that the shelter is not providing the necessary facilities for this dog but I can understand that the shelter may not have the resources to do so.
this is horrible news! such a poor doggie, i would take him in but sadly i am not allowed to, please someone adopt this poor dog. his life must have been hard and painful, i would still take care of a dog no matter how old he/she is. thank you Rinpoche for sharing this.
Poor dog… since Pastor Susan has been involved with animal care, I have heard of so many dogs abandoned. It doesn’t really surprise me because years ago, i had heard about people abandoning old folks. Can you imagine, there is a home for abandoned old folk and terminally ill in the middle of KL, where people take old folk to the hospital and leave them there with fake contact numbers. If people can do that to their aged parents, what more they would do to animals. Until people value lives – whether human or animal – more than their own convenience, abandonment will continue. This is why Rinpoche always emphasises on conquering selfishness. People don’t want to deal with older animals or people because of the care required. Older folks may have lost their faculties, incontinent etc, and older animals too. We are lucky that euthanasia is not allowed for human beings because many will condemn their old folks like they do their animals. Animals who people no longer want to look after are put to sleep. And we call this humane.
I hope someone will adopt this dog but you know what, reality is that this is very unlikely. We had cute puppies, which are considered very adoptable because of the cute factor – who doesn’t like puppies – but we could not get them adopted. People prefer pedigree dogs because of status symbols or whatever. Anyway, if people don’t want puppies, what more older, sickly dogs. We really need to have a change of mindset. I hope this article will make people think more about their choices of pets – please don’t buy pedigrees from petshops. Adopt a pet from the shelter.
This is such sad news to hear. Its sad how the dog once used to have a family that had been taking care of him, not he has nothing and is just stuck in a shelter. How sad, that something could just be taken away from you like that. I hope that this news spreads fast and that someone will kindly adopt him and return him the home he had once had.
It is very sad and heart broken to read about this story. Need not talk bout animal, even human abandon their own parents, workers, siblings and children.. I saw many of these cases in Kechara Soup Kitchen, one of the Kechara’s charity arm that feeding the homeless.
It is sad that pets are turned away when they grow old or get sick. They used to be cute little fur kids and we loved them like no other. But once they become ill, old and “ugly” we ship them off somewhere far away. If anyone should decide to have a pet, remember that it’s like a marriage — for better or for worse. There should be no divorce.
Desr Rinpoche,
What sad news to know of such a dog who once had a good family to take care of him and now has been abandoned in a dog shelter.
It is sad to know that it is not that the shelter is not feeding this dog enough but because of the stress of being in a different and stressful environment.
Though I can’t adopt this poor dog I will share this blog post to my friends and see if they are able to adopt this dog.
I hope that this dog will be adopted to a good home soon.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing.
Love
Jutika
