Pig Slaughter
Fact: About 4 pigs are slaughtered every second in the USA.
Fact: In Malaysia, the pig population numbers up to 1.8 million.
What do these numbers indicate?
It means many animals are SUFFERING. It means many animals are being slaughtered. And it means even more animals are about to be slaughtered.
Watch the two videos below, recorded in a pig farm in the Philippines. Pigs are highly intelligent animals, even more so than dogs and certainly even more than any 3 year old child. It is extremely sad to watch these animals suffer such a horrible death…

You’ve probably spent 15 minutes reading this post and watching the videos, and while you were doing that, 3600 pigs just got slaughtered.
If you cringed when you heard the pig scream, then never eat pork and never eat meat. Do not, even in the slightest way be involved in the death of animals. GET INVOLVED in putting a stop to it.
Make a pledge to be vegetarian today. Commit to be vegetarian for a week, a month or even a day. Every effort counts. Therefore I also have a very special request for all my blog readers – find out more about this VERY SPECIAL OFFER.
Remember, send this strong spiritual message to the world by you who are my blog readers never eating meat… Never participate in any way to the screams, fears, and cruel slaughter of animals. GO VEGETARIAN AND SPREAD THE MESSAGE TIRELESSY TO EVERYONE. IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT PEOPLE THINK OF YOU FOR BEING VEGETARIAN OR SPREADING THE MESSAG BUT YOU KNOW YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING AGAINST ANIMAL CRUELTY.

Heart breaking watch these pigs been slaughtered while screaming and thrashing as they gasp for mercy. Looking at the first video, its horrible watching that poor pig been slaughtered in opened field. The most terrifying scene at anywhere ,animals been slaughtered. The sheer number of animals killed makes it impossible for pigs’ deaths to be humane and painless. It is the demand for pork, bacon and ham that pressures the pig meat industry to kill those pigs. Every meal is a choice. It’s within our power as individuals to save animals from suffering simply by refusing to support the meat industry. No animals should suffer for the sake of human consumption. Choose to go meatless at least better on vegetarian for a healthy life style. v
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.
Dear Rinpoche ,
It is very sad to see how this pig is being slaughtered while it screams out of desperation. This is what our “meat” have to suffer before they appear on our plates. If everyone can see this before they choose to take pork, they would had certainly refrain from it.
From this post, I too can see the suffering of the animal realm. They are born into a world of eat or be eaten and being killed for their meat. Such sufferings are intense and they have no chance to meet dharma. Such rebirth are unfortunate.
Humbly,
Chris
This is really sad to watch, these animals die a very horrible death for most of the time, even this one was a slow and painful death. I really cannot imagine myself being tied up and all I could do is to struggle and feel the blood gushing out slowly.
This is a very helpless feeling because there’s really nothing you can do to save yourself and as we all can see, the poor pig was not even allowed to struggle, he didn’t have a chance to do so.
No animals should suffer for the sake of satisfying our taste buds, we have been selfish our whole lives and if we can’t even control our own mind and body, then we should ask ourselves, what are we? So much dignity, so much pride, so much money but in the end we still lose to ourselves.
This is really sad, thousands of pigs are being killed in less than half an hour. Why do we humans always have thus double standard? If they were humans, I’m very sure that actions will be taken. What’s the difference between animals and humans? Except for the fact that they live off of pure instincts and we humans who actually DO have the ability to think and process our thinking.
Dear Rinpoche, I understand. Some people are so cruel they even shoot a video about them killing animals and post it in youtube and named it “How to kill a …..”. The thing is, they are creating more animal slaughters. Some people also said that it is hard to be vegetarian but what they don’t know is that animals suffer the worst feeling when they are in the process of getting slaughtered.
Some people think that eating meats is just a tradition, there is no particular reason why they want eat meat, and there is no any single reason for them not to eat meat too. They just follow the so called tradition and choose to ignore the pain that animals would have even if they know. They don’t think further than this.
Maybe for people like them, we have to show them more good values from their own tradition. They just need constant education to stop eating meats. Some of them would understand and change. This is how Rinpoche turned me to become a vegetarian.
We cringed when we watch this video. Just imagine the pain and sufferings the pigs had to go through. I am glad I have stopped eating meat for a long time……
This sentence really hit me hard, “You’ve probably spent 15 minutes reading this post and watching the videos, and while you were doing that, 3600 pigs just got slaughtered.”
Since the age of 12 I stopped eating pigs. I couldn’t bear to think that intelligent and adorable pigs were being killed for my stomach – and for the lack of a better word, I couldn’t stomach it.
What really worries me is the concept that pigs can register and sense what’s going on around them.
IF reincarnation exists, we could reincarnate as a pig one day.
I believe that reincarnation does exist, and it really freaks me out when I think about the pain that could potentially be inflicted upon myself. Some call that empathy, but to me it’s logical. If I can’t stand the pain of a knife running through my arm, imagine the pain of having my neck sliced opened… Yikes.
Pigs are suck kind and smart, they do not deserve to be treated this way. They should be loved and cared. Not killed for their meat. I really couldn’t bare to watch the video, the sound of the pig in pain made me feel so bad. I wish i could have done something to help that poor pig. It sounds so painful! I think i actually cried a bit while watching it. Thank you for sharing Rinpoche.
The animals of the World exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans, nor to die for them so that humans can live. The animals of the planet are in a deplorable phenomena, and perhaps, they are fully aware of this. No less than what humans beings are doing in all parts of the world, they are also seeking santuary. As compassionate spiritual practicioners, we should refrain from commiting actions that cause sufferings, such as creating causes for animals to be tortured, beaten, imprisioned, and finally killed for humans to live on to enjoy their flesh. The ability to have life, liberty and to persue happiness should apply to all sentient beings, who are desreving of such basic rights. As the Dalai Lama has said, “Today, more than ever before, life must be characterised by a sense of universal responsibility, not only nation to nation and human to human, but also human to other forms of life.” Syabas to our Buddha of Compassion, the Dalai Lama.
