Rescuing 3 Doggies Today!!
Today while I was in Petaling Street area in downtown Kuala Lumpur, I came across three very sad cases of dogs that will most likely not be adopted. I had to take them and I did… I had Susan, Li Kim, Pastor Loh Seng Piow, KB and Beng Kooi today to help me. It was a a spur of the moment thing. I do my best to always avoid pet shops because it’s hard to see all the caged animals. I don’t want to buy to perpetuate the cycle of these places… But today I went in….. Something drew me in… a minute of weakness….
I named this five-month-old male Schnauzer Manjushri. At this age he is considered ‘old’ by puppy here so it is unlikely he will be taken home. I saw him trapped in a small space, scruffy, unkept and just not happy. I had to get him and find a new home. I facebooked. I text messaged… I got him…. His empty eyes looking at me, broke me…
Manjushri was so alert and dying to get attention… more than the other dogs around him… You know he was just looking at me in the eye with so much hope… It was painful… I had to take him… so many thoughts in my mind of perpetuating the cycle, but at that moment it was about Manjushri… Just Manjushri….
This is a five month year female Schnauzer that I named Tara. She’s gentle, friendly and LOOKS SO MUCH LIKE MY MUMU. I doubt at her age for the attitude around here for dogs she would be adopted. She was unkept, unclean, left alone and none of the shop attendants or customers played with her. I saw people going to other dogs, but not Tara. I couldn’t bear to think what would happen to her. I snapped her picture, facebooked it and text messaged. Dee Dee phoned in to say SHE WILL ADOPT TARA because Tara has nowhere to go and she wanted a small size female dog anyway… Wow… great. And Dee Dee already has a small female Shitzu. Tara will have a friend and family. I am so happy for Tara. May she be ok… May she be happy. Beng Kooi has brought Tara to Dee Dee’s home tonight.
Dee Dee’s Shitzu and Tara are getting acquainted, see video below…. cute..
Dee Dee with Tara and her Shitzu Twiggy..Tara has found a new Mommy and new Shitzu sister….cute…can you see Tara is smiling???
Tara and Twiggy…
I came across this one year old poodle whom I named Dzamser (Yellow Dzambala)…This one is really tragic. He was in a 3ft x 3ft small pen. He was running in circles for the longest time. Maybe around 30-40 revolutions within a minute!! I don’t know how he did it without being dizzy but it is a sign of boredom and going insane… Poor little thing. Being one year old, he must have arrived at the shop around 2-3 months old. Unwanted, he has been languishing in that small space for maybe SEVEN MONTHS NOW.
He had no toys and no one I noticed was paying attention to him but they were playing with smaller puppies. It broke my heart… I didn’t think even for one more second… I said I want him rescued… I had him taken out and Susan held him. He was ecstatic: licking, pawing, jumping, bouncing, running… You cannot believe how frantically happy he was. Susan patiently held him, talked to him, soothed him, petted him and held him very close… He calmed down after around 20 mins. He was so happy to feel another being touching him. You can just see it. He was so excited and so frantic, I bought two types of snacks to give him thinking he will be very happy, but he didn’t know what to do with it. My heart broke into even smaller pieces… a dog who has been locked up who didn’t even know what to do with a snack…..
Watching him running around non-stop in such a small space was incredible. I have to make sure he finds a good home. What’s the choice? Leave him there and let him go insane so I can teach the pet shop to not sell more dogs? It wouldn’t make a difference. For Dzamser, I don’t care about the different schools of thought for buying or not buying from pet shops to perpetuate the vicious cyle of the dog trade… I just wanted Dzamser not to suffer anymore. I could not leave Dzamser where he was. There will be people who agree with me and there will be people against this, but Dzamser is safe now. I can just focus on Dzamser… Not another day in that horrid small space for poor Dzamser…. I will make sure he gets a home, love, good food, warm place to sleep and affection. I will make sure. I have to….
Liaison Susan so lovingly holding and coddling little Dzamser. They just bonded so much immediately… Susan was so patient with him and it was from her heart. Susan was/is the mother, father, friend Dzamser NEEDED AND DESERVES… Susan has A HUGE LOVING BEAUTIFUL HEART OF GOLD for animals. She just loves them and expects nothing back. If you have four legs and fur, she will love you a lot immediately… hehehe… But seriously, I respect her so much for this quality in her. It shows you who she is… kind. She genuinely loves animals… She has been rescuing dogs and cats most of her adult life.
Whenever I ask Susan to come and help with ANYTHING, she is always available, ready and ever pleasant to do whatever is necessary. I like to have her along always. She really makes it easy whenever I want to go on my ‘expeditions’ or do various works.
Manjushri and Dzamser are now temporarily housed in Datuk May and her daughter Li Kim’s house. Susan will go over everyday to nurse Dzamser and Manjushri. We purchased their foods, bowls, leashes, collars, shampoo and other necessities for them already. We will find nice homes for them for sure. Li Kim has such a soft heart… when she saw the plight of these animals, she opened her house to their plight immediately… I appreciate this so very much. Li Kim does not like or dislike animals… but she can’t stand when something is suffering… great person. Li Kim is another one who is always ready to help and assist anytime… She is quick, spontaneous and very meticulous…
It was an eventful, painful and happy day. The job is not over. I must make sure Manjushri and Dzamser will be ok… They must get a loving home… I do not want just anyone to get them….
I thank everyone for helping me….

The Chair
I have one chair I usually sit on to do my sadhana, watch a program, read, write, research and so on. But many times I return from my bathroom, Oser girl has taken over my chair. She gives me this look like, it’s her chair! She’s a spunky little schnauzer. The room has so much space, other sofas and places of interest, but my Oser has to hijack my chair always. I have to gently move her over and squeeze in next to her like I did last night into the same chair. We sat together for hours and she fell asleep in my chair huddled against me. Love is sharing a chair even though it’s meant for one occupant at a time. ? Tsem Rinpoche
It is incredible how smart Oser girl is. She can steal the treat away from Dharma boy and so casually. Wow. She is so smart. A must watch short video!! Tsem Rinpoche

It is heartwarming to read that all the three puppies who were unwanted found a home due to the loving kindness of His Eminence the 25th Tsem Rinpoche and his team. Rejoice to everyone who contributed to rehome the puppies. May the puppies have the merits to be connect to Buddha Dharma in their future.
You are a beautiful person, Tsem Rinpoche. Thankyou and your team of beautiful people, for the kindness you show to all living beings.
Beautiful. I am so happy you were there for them, Rinpoche. I found my own lovely dog as a stray when I was on holiday in Spain. She’s a little hunting dog with a very calm, sweet nature who was probably abandoned because she was gun shy or just didn’t like to hunt. She had been very badly treated, but her spirit was unbroken and happily shone out. People thought I was crazy, finding her in Spain and bringing her to England, but it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. She makes me laugh with delight every day.
我也常常希望自己有能力去帮助这些小动物,能够帮助他们脱离险境,给它们一个安全的地方生活,这个是我一直以来的心愿。愿诸众生离苦得乐。
Dear Rinpoche, now I know why is Dzamser so hyper all the time, he is even more hyper than I am. Every time when I see Dzamser, he will always be very jumpy. He is so happy when he sees people until the dog trainer can’t even stop him hehe! Tara looked so happy to be adopted and the other dog which is a Shitzu named Twiggy is so emo. HEHE! I’m happy that these dogs have caring owners.
Thank you Rinpoche for saving these dogs! i am so happy that these dogs will be ok. please live long and happy doggies, may you always be happy. : D
This is so cute! I wish i could have been there to witness this happening. Its such a great thing that Rinpoche is doing, i wish that more people would have this much compassion towards animals. Thank you for sharing Rinpoche.
Thank You for rescuing these 3 adorable puppies. They are so so lucky to have Rinpoche adopted them. I’m very glad that they are living their
happy lives. Thank You for sharing Rinpoche.
Love, bearix.
Dear Rinpoche, Thank You for saving these adorable little puppies. They are so so lucky to have Rinpoche adopted them. I’m glad that they have found their own happy family.
Thank You for sharing Rinpoche.
Love, beatrix.
Dear Rinpoche, Thank you for sharing the story of the 3 dogs.Good to know that they will be and are in good hands.
Dzamser is very intelligent and is training me very well instead of the other way around. One of his tricks is to leave half a bowl of his food till i come home eventhough it’s very late. The trick is he knows I’ll give him some yummy sauce so he will finish his food!
He has learnt to leave the cats alone. They are not too amused by him because he plays a bit too rough because of his excitement.
For those of you who have FB account, you can take a look at his latest picture when he pose a Mother’s Day picture for Rinpoche. 🙂

Dearest Rinpoche, I am glad to for Tara to find a good home. Happy that Tara have met Rinpoche. I have to learn from Pastor Susan because I am personally afraid of dogs. Cos when I was young I was chased by dogs many times and cause the fobia
Dear Elsie
I’m sorry to hear that you were chased by dogs many times and it has caused fear in you towards them. When I was young, I loved to cycle around my neighborhood in the late afternoons or just go walking with my little friends.
There’ll be stray dogs around and sometimes they will chase and bark at us. I’ve been fortunate that they have not biten me. I dunno why I don’t have fears towards them… but rather see them as needing some attention but for some dogs, they just don’t know how to express it. Maybe my sadness for them overcame my fears…
Anyway, it’s not easy to overcome fears but I hope you will consider that not all dogs are the same. What is the same for all dogs or animals is that they need love and care just like us. I hope one day, you will open your heart for them… trust me, it’s amazing what you will feel when you do that.
much care always
Where is Dzamser now?
Dear Justin,
Dzamser is now with Pastor Susan. Pastor Susan loves Dzamser a lot, i see that with my own eyes. Dzamser is fine and ok now. 🙂
I am so glad and happy that this 3 doggies sufferings of being caged up in a 3’x3′ are over. All thanks to Rinpoche, Datuk May, Li Kim, Dee Dee and Susan.
It’s so wonderful to see the video of Tara getting use to her new home. May Dzamser and Manjushri find good homes filled with love are care too!
Thank you, Rinpoche, for this happy ending post.
I rejoice that these 3 doggies were rescued. So sad for the poodle, really can’t imagine what will happen if he was not rescued… Tara’s eyes showed so much sadness in the photo at the pet shop but her eyes shine with happiness in the photo with Dee Dee.
Thank you Rinpoche and all the kind hearted students.
Rinpoche is always so kind and compassionate. I love this post! When i read this, i was so touched! Manjushri, Tara, and Dzamser are such lucky doggies to be rescued by Rinpoche. Very cute and adorable doggies too.
Hopefully this will be their last life as animals.
May they be well and happy forever and ALWAYS!!
Great to read this beautiful story of compassion and care for other suffering beings who are our kind mothers in new bodies.
Rinpoche, I just played the video above and when Tara heard your voice, she suddenly sat up, became alert and came near my laptop. She recognized your voice 🙂
Dee Dee, that is amazing she recognizes my voice. Thank you for letting me know. TR
Tsem Rinpoche, I’ll keep posting updates and play your videos so all 3 of us (Tara, Twiggy and I) sit in for your teachings. _/\_
Thank you Rinpoche for Tara. We went to the vet today & also my pet shop to get more stuff for Tara. She was such a good girl last night, she didn’t even cry at all. And this morning, she was so hungry, she ate all her food in 30 seconds! 🙂 Twiggy is getting used to her slowly albeit still a bit wary. Hope they’ll love each other as close as sisters soon. 🙂
Thank you Rinpoche for always being so kind. It’s v sad that usually the dogs in the petshop that is above 3 mths old is unlikely to find a home and they get caged up in the petshop e.g. just like the 1 yr old poodle that you have just rescued. I’m so happy that Dee Dee has adopted Tara and i will help spread the word around amongst my friends to help find the other Schnauzer & Poodle a home. Not just any home but owners that will give them love n care that they deserve.
Dear Rinpoche, thanks for being so kind to them. I know it is hard to walk into a petshop. I avoid going to petshops and shelters, especially shelters because I know what will happen to these animals. Now that I find myself in Morocco, they are in the street and I cannot escape them,in every street and corner there are abandoned animals.
I know that if you help one it is better than helping none, but when I see them I want to help them all and take them all and that is when it becomes difficult.
In my case,I teach an extra class at school so I can make more money to feed them and I already have eight animals in my small apartment, they all happened to be orphans I rescued.
I hope that more and more people follow your footsteps in Malasya and people start adopting more animals and taking in strays from the streets and shelters. You have a kind heart and I truly admire you for that!! Many blessings to you,the animals you rescue may you be able to find great homes for them!! Much love and blessings!!
Rinpoche, thank you. What a wonderful beginning for these three sad doggies. All of us are so easy to judge, we create our own guidelines about how things should be done. Here in the USA some people get angry if you rescue dogs from another state and not from the state where you live. I think a life is a life and compassion can never be restricted by geography. Those of us not yet awake do our best to respond to suffering with an open heart whenever we can, but for accomplished Teachers like you, there is no choice. Your compassionate response is spontaneous when you see suffering. And whatever action you take can only bring benefit. Hopefully we can set our judgments aside and rejoice in the presence of Bodhicitta in the world.
