Saving Russell Baby
I first heard about Russell about two years ago. He belongs to one of my student’s relatives and when she passed away, we wanted to bring Russell baby down to KL to take care of him. After some obstacles, my student Patsy Gooi was finally able to drive Russell baby down today. He was first taken to e-Division where Beng Kooi was kind enough to take care of him for a few hours, before she and Jean Ai drove Russell to his new temporary home.
Russell will be taken to the vet for a full medical, vaccinations, blood tests, heartworm check and the whole 9 yards. He is around 5 years old. After his check he will be groomed and bathed and loved. Russell will never suffer for the rest of his life…he will have sacred mantras and prayers chanted so he can hear…and holy water given to him to bless him…I wanted so much to bring Russell down quite a while again and give him a better life and I was finally able to arrange it…..I am so happy for Russell baby finally.
The first time I saw his picture, it broke my heart, I wanted him to come down…and now he is here…
Martin and Carmen were there to help them with Russell. Martin is a smart, intelligent, kind man who is very very good with dogs. They all said Russell is very cute and I believe them, he looks like a toy!! Jean Ai said he can understand English and Hokkien, and Beng Kooi said is very gentle and soft and he likes to sit next to people’s legs to get petted. But he is quite stubborn and if they put a leash on him, he will not even look at them!! You cannot pull him or try and move him, he will just spread his legs and not move, how funny!
They let Russell baby go outside to explore. Russell baby was an outdoors dog in his last home. His previous owners used to keep him in the garden outside. I think he must have been quite scared all the time over there. Beng Kooi and Jean Ai said that when they put their hands up near him, he shrinks and cowers and his tail goes down. So I think he must bring back some fearful memories…
Russell baby is going to have a new home now where people will love him and care for him and never be hurt. I don’t know where exactly he is going to live in the future but wherever he is, I WILL TAKE CARE OF HIM. Please never hurt your animals!!! If you train your dog well, he will give you a lot of love and be well behaved and not be a monster!
Kind and compassionate people never hit animals just because they can, or because the animal is smaller than them! Human beings treat others well even if they are animals…

Dear Rinpoche,
Oh my gosh!!! Russell is so cute!!!
He looks just like a very very fluffy toy!
Russell is so lucky to be given help by Rinpoche and his students!
it is sad that Russell’s owner had passed away but I am sure Russell does not need to worry because he now has so many kind people like Martin to take care of Russell.
Such a nice, cute and playful dog…. hehehe
Thank you Rinpoche for saving this dog!
Love
Jutika
WHat a cute doggie Russell is!! So sad that Russell has to part ways with its previous owner at such circumstance.. But it is all good because Russell was able to meet Rinpoche and the kind Kecharians!
May Russell never have to suffer and stay healthy and happy always! =)
Thank you for sharing, Rinpoche!
Oh My Buddha! Russell baby is so damn cute! He only listens to Martin so funny. I think Russell baby had been trained by the previous owner. He really looks like a adorable peach – brown color toy dog. I hope Russell baby can have a good health and long life. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing

But it is sad that russell’s owner past away, its never nice to know that someone had died. And i hope that Russell is now in a better place being taken care of and being given lots of love and care. Im sure that Russell is a good dog, and that he always will be.

Y.E. I’m writing to say that today dec. 24th I found out that my
facebook profile and activity was suddenly and without warning
suspended. I’m regretting all the Dharma contact I had there almost in a daily basis. Now, Facebook for gossip and other kinds of mundane nonsense has zero attraction to me, I will, maybe, live
even happier without those connections, since I consider myself
proceeding to a durable retreat, for the years to come…Nevertheless the way It was done, leaves me with this need of two words still, with whom my almost daily chatting, was a kind of
a guidance, to thank for everything and say that, besides of appealing to Facebook for reconsideration, I don’t know yet what to do about this, and all probabilities are that we won’t see ourselves ‘there anymore’.
Terribly sorry, and sincerely yours.
Russel must have the good Karma to be saved even as far away as Penang. He is a cute dog from the pictures. All dogs who have come through Rinpoche’s hands I believe must have some way or other been connected with Rinpoche in their past lives. Before Russel came to Kuala Lumpur he must have purified his Karma in Penang first. That is why he has to wait for the right time when Patsy can drive him down to Kuala Lumpur to be adopted by a good and kind owner who will love him. His good karma has brought him to Rinpoche who will make sure he gets a good home to go to where he will get lots of love.
I had the honour of driving Russell down from Penang. When I went to pick him up, Russell was in the patio looking very sad as if he sense that he is leaving his owner soon. He refused to go into the cage and after a few hide and seek and chasing around, managed to put him inside the cage. He was whining when he was inside the cage, feeling lost and disorientated. However, after a short while he stopped whining. Throughout the 4 hours journey, he did not bark or create any problem. In fact, he slept most of the time.
Russell is a very adorable and cute dog. Anyone, just looking at him will fall in love with him. I just hope that Russell will find a good home with lots of tender loving care.
Russell Baby is very very good natured and you won’t be able to stop yourself from loving him. But he’s no softy. You can’t force him to do anything…if he does it, it is out of love and gratitude and not fear. I like that about him. I don’t quite know what hardship he has been through but its good to see his spirit still unbroken. Its staggering (but not uncommon) how so many people can look at a gentle being like Russell and NOT SEE a soul, and a life, just because the shape of the soul’s container is different to a human being’s.
Who was it who said “we see and understand things NOT as they are, but as WE are”.
Its also very heartening to note that Rinpoche remembers Russell and did not give up on a “dog” Rinpoche met years ago.
PS: can someone tell the house owner to clean up the house. It looks awfully messy.
Really kind of Patsy to drive Russell to KL from Pg with this lovely dog being her only companion during the 4 hours drive journey. Great you make it and with great compassion, Russell now has a new home with loving care.
