Please take five minutes out of your hectic day to read the article and understand the message it is trying to bring across. This really shocks me to the core and I am extremely sad to read this, we really took cruelty to the next level.
Every time we walk into a store and buy something made from leather, we are directly contributing towards the cruelty enacted upon these poor animals. Please everyone, please stop supporting cruelty towards animals, they are sentient living beings too who feel love and pain. Can you imagine yourself being skinned alive? Just the thought of it is painful, but this is what is happening to these animals, they are being skinned alive! And to add salt on wound, their limbs are cut off to prevent them from escaping, and all of these is done without anaesthetic, so you can imagine how painful and traumatic it is for the poor animals.
Please share this article with as many friends as you can to create awareness towards animal cruelty. Let’s stand up for these animals who cannot express themselves through words. Please always be kind to the animals, please always be kind to ourselves and stop hurting others.

Cows Skinned Alive For Leather Have Their Limbs Cut Off to Prevent Movement
The image above is a true statement from the fashion industry: in this sector, cruelty has no limits. Every time you buy a fashion item made from leather – be it a trendy handbag, a piece of comfortable shoes – please think about the tremendous cruelty that stands at the foundation of that product. This petition targets both the Chinese government – who has repeatedly failed to adopt animal welfare laws and has allowed this industry to thrive – as well as consumers worldwide, to take the pledge to go cruel-free and stop purchasing leather products.
The shocking image attached was taken in China, where countless cows are skinned alive for their leather. Their pain can hardly be described in words. In order to prevent these gentle creatures from escaping, often these beautiful animals have their limbs cut off; on other occasions, cows tails’ are often broken and a special powder is sprayed into their eyes, in order to force them to walk to the nearest abattoir (which could be miles away).
Even if your pricey pair of leather office shoes manufactured by a high-end designer are ‘Made In Italy’, the skin may still very well come from countries such as India (WHICH IS ALSO THE BIGGEST EXPORTER OF BEEF WHILE COW BEING THEIR HOLLY/SACRED ANIMAL), where there absolutely no regulations concerning animal welfare in place. This is what actually stands behind a pair of leather boots. Still think you look great in leather? Please reconsider. Those animals needed their skin to keep warm and their organs safe.
Please stop buying leather products from today. Consider opting for animal-friendly fashion items. A growing number of designers and fashion companies are offering items made from vegan leather, quality materials that do not harm animals or the planet.

Skinning the animal alive is really inhuman and cruel. Although sometimes there’s no choice but to take animals skin due to the market demand, but proper procedure and proper way must be carried out. But not taking the skin alive.
All I can think of is nowadays we see kids with rare skin diseases that cannot be cured. I think this is because in their previous lives they must have skinned animals alive.
It’s really pain, scary to see and observed these helpless sentient beings being sacrifice ALIVE for the sake of human needs. How will there be peace when they are killings? Sentient beings killing sentient beings and the karma will never end.

Animals are individuals with emotions and the capacity to feel pain. They deserve better than to be turned into a handbag, shoe or coat.
We may not witness how they skin the cow alive and process the skin to become leather but this doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. Logically speaking, if we know it’s animal leather then definitely it comes from the animals. I have a question about this…… why don’t we wear human skin? it’s because killing a human for skin is painful? If it is then what makes us think the animals will not feel the pain? Is it human more superior than animals? For me, there is nothing superior and we are living beings that shared the same big place to live. So we should respect each other and care for each other. If we can’t care for them but at very least we should not hurt them. They can’t express like us and most of the time even they express we would not understand so why add on their suffering by torturing them by taking their skin?
It’s very easy to understand this if we don’t like to be hurt, in this case, to be skinned, why do you think the animals will like to be skinned? Remember that they have felt too, they can cry too, they can shout for pain too, but just that we don’t care.
Stop going for leather. We have ours so let the animals have theirs.

There are alternative materials we can use for our shoes and bags. That is for sure.
Unfortunately, very few people are concerned for animal welfare. Nobody really care that the animals are in pain or that the leather shoes, wallet, belt and coat was derived from the skin of animals that have been sliced off animals and the amount of torture and pain is unspeakable. The only way around it is bring awareness to it just like what rinpoche is doing and hopefully with such graphic imagery, more and more people would be aware and come to avoid leather and fur products.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this post. Is very sad to see we human being is so cruel because of our ignorance we create so much pain for all these animals I think is important to create awareness among the people in order to reduce this kind of trade to continue.
Totally devastated to see the photo of a cow being skinned alive and the limb being cut off. Just hope that more and more people will be moving towards leather-free products.

Why would we need leather to be used as our shoes? I am sure in these days and age, we can come up with some decent new products for our shoes without having to kill, don’t even mention skinned alive.
As Gandhi has said, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” So compassionate New Zealand has taken its great stand to change people’s perception and feelings towards the poor animals, and discarding its veil of how the animals should be viewed, classified and treated, by passing its unprecedented amendment in its animal Welfare Bill, recognizing all animals as sentient Beings! Our wonderful Kindhearted Malaysia realizing that, “Life is as dear to a mute creature as it is to a man, just as one wants to live and not die, so do other creatures, as His Holiness, The 14th Dalai Lama has once written,” has followed suit with a new set of laws known as “The Animal Welfare Bill 2015” to protect the suffering animals, like New Zealand did! Meanwhile, please stop buying leather products and goods from now on! May we pray hard and hopefully look towards the whole World to follow such humane and sensitive needs for all living animals beings! Om Mani Padme Hung!
Oh dear …..shocking to see the suffering painful cow was skinned alive . For the leather which was sold to factories for consumers products like leather hand bags ,belts, shoes or anything that has leather made. Feeling sad how can this happening still ,right in front of the innocent children.. Hope all these will stop soon with the cooperation of the authorities and everyone stopped using leather from animals products .It will be wonderful if all consumers use leather free products. All animals do feel pain, please do not hurt them. Choose to be on vegetarian is the right healthy choice.

This is very sad to know cows are skinned alive for the skin, and for that, their limbs are being cut off. 🙁 We need to stop the demand (or at least reduce the demand) in order to stop the supply. There are some corporations stopped using fur, and I hope more can stop using leathers too.
We should stop all types of suffering caused to animals. ?
It’s very horrifying to see images like this. But, I guess it i needed to wake people up to the fact of the cruelty behind the leather industry. It was very difficult to see the images being put up bu PETA and animal rights group but they are only showing the truth of what goes behind the scenes. It’s like if we do not see the whole fish on the supermarket shelf, we cannot quite relate the piece of fillet being formerly a fish swimming free in the ocean.
Some of the vegan leather available as handbags or backpack are beautiful and well, kinder. In fact, they are cheaper both in terms of dollars and cents and lives. Hope more fashion houses will follow Gucci’s lead to reduce use of animal skin/fur.

Leather products are very common in fashion line where we never stop and think where the leather comes from and what happened to the animals who contributed their skins for our unending greedy wants. With every pair of leather shoe we buy, we are directly contributes to the factory farm as well as slaughterhouse because animal skin is the byproduct of the meat industry too.
So if we are wearing leather, we are supporting animal cruelty. Animals are sentient beings too. They can feel the pain as we do and they deserved to live freely. We still can be stylish by adopting compassionate fashion, choosing non leather or synthetics fashion products.
This is horrible and it is a shame that we human can do such actions that bring tremendous pain to the animals. We should stop using leather products and this will directly stop the demand of leather goods. I hope authority of respective country will implement rules to protect animals welfare. It is only when there are laws that people will stop such act.

Cruelty and inhumane can’t even begin to describe these people. Let’s get this horrid info to more people so that they can exercise their power of purchase, and make a change in the fate of the poor cows!
