3 Amazingly Attractive Villages in Japan
Japan has always been one of the countries that I find to be incredibly beautiful. I love their courteous and unique culture and tradition, and their lifestyle which is hugely influenced by Zen Buddhism, something that I am very fond of. It is one of my favorite countries in the world.
This article features three of Japan’s most beautiful villages. The surrounding environment is truly calming, as though even the strongest forces of materialism are unable to penetrate the peace pervading these obscure villages.
When we look at the beauty of these villages and compare it with our lives, only then will we realize that there is no real gain in pursuing a materialistic lifestyle, and that such a lifestyle destroys not only nature’s beauty but also our inner peace.
Do take a look at these beautiful villages in Japan. Have you ever encountered such quaint and peaceful places as these?

3 Amazingly Attractive Villages in Japan
In Japan, there are many beautiful villages. It’s hard for tourists to get to villages because of a lack of public transportation, but it’s well worth visiting them. Here are three of the most beautiful villages in Japan.
1. Nagiso-machi 南木曽町
Nagiso-machi is located in Nagano prefecture. It’s a very popular vacation destination for Japanese people.
The village still has old Japanese scenery and hot springs (onsen).
When you hike into the mountains, you can find waterfalls. There is a camping site, too.
2. Matsuzaki-cho 松崎町
Matsuzaki-cho, in Shizuoka, is famous for its terraced rice fields. It’s just beautiful.
It’s famous not only for its rice fields, though. Matsuzaki-cho has a lot of attractions, such as the old style buildings, beautiful beaches, and nature.
It’s especially known for the architecture of the wall called namako-kabe, which is very unique. Namako means Sea Cucumber in Japanese.
3. Kyogoku-cho 京極町
Kyogoku-cho is located in Hokkaido. The nature of the village is awesome. Since it gets really cold in winter, the outside hot spring is so nice there.
The village has a mountain called Yotei-zan. There are four climbing trails to the top of the mountain. The view from the top would blow you away.
Fukidashi Park is also a popular spot to visit in Kyogoku-cho. The park has a spring and a small waterfall.

Wow ! appreciate the detailed write up …I will visit these places next time I go to Japan !
These places in Japan are really breathtakingly beautiful especially the paddy fields in Matsuzaki-cho, the whole atmosphere is so serene and isolated in a good way, away from all the noises and contamination from the cities.
It’s scenery is so serene, calm and relaxing. The greens are good for the eyes while the sound of the waterfalls calm the mind.Thank you very much for sharing 3 Amazingly attractive villages in Japan.

Never thought of the awesome villages, offering most spectacular scenery. I loved to see the nature beauty of Nagiso-machi and Kyogoku-cho. Wow extremely wonderful. I also read that Japan has a beautiful weather and a wonderful climate.
The photographs was extremely good on the villages.
The photographs was extremely good on the villages. Hope to visit Japan to explore and the experience further on the three main amazing and attractive villages.
These places in Japan are really breathakingly beautiful. Never thought there are so many beautiful places in Japan. Love the Yotei-zan maountain and the small waterfall. Sunset of Matsuzaki-cho.Thank you very much Rinpoche for sharing these 3 Amazingly Attractive villages in japan.
Wow the 3 places are so beautiful. Very nice scenic, clean and so natural. Really wish I can visit Japan and any one of the places above. So calm to be able to live there.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing 3 Amazingly attractive villages in Japan. I always like to learn the Japanese culture of their humble and politeness towards everyone with patience.
I’ve been to some prefecture in Kansai, the place which I do most like is Nara. Therefore, Nara is a tourist attraction place at Todaiji Temple, which is a UNESCO World Heritage listed site. Todaiji Temple is a the World’s largest building houses the world’s oldest glided bronze Buddha (Daibutsu).
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article. I really didn’t know that Japan has such beautiful villages. It’s scenery is so serene, calm and relaxing. The greens are good for the eyes while the sound of the waterfalls calm the mind. If given the opportunity, I would love to visit Japan too.
With folded palms,

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing these scenic photos of beautiful quiescence villages in Japan. They bring to life vividly the images of Japanese movies or comic that I used to watched/read when I was growing up. They are the eastern representation of cleanliness and perfection in many ways. It is very enchanting to just look through these photos.
2 images always come to mind when thinking of Japan. One of bustling cities where everyone walk shoulder to shoulder and another of calm serenity. But I find both a little scary as they both shows such neat and petite structures, that make me feel like a bull in a china shop!
What I love above all else though, are the wonderful manners and calm stature of the Japanese that I meet on my travels. They even dress neat. They have a sense of stately elegance and calm. Just love the calm part. Maybe it’s the culture maybe it’s the religion or maybe just a mesh of both.
Whatever it is, the pictures of the 3 villages of Nagiso-machi, Matsuzaki-cho and Kyogoku-cho exudes a very zen-like atmosphere that soothes just by looking at them. It must be much more soothing in real life. It must be a boon for those living in the cities to just visit them during their vacation to unwind after the hectic rush of the city.
Kechara Forest Retreat gives the same feeling of calm serenity as these villages exudes. The looks though are a world apart.
Thank you, Rinpoche for this sharing and for the vision of Kechara Forest Retreat. May Rinpoche wishes manifest smoothly and swiftly.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing such beautiful photos of Japan. Japan has always been one of the countries I want to visit because of her rich culture, and the mix of culture for the old and modern is so distinct yet so united. Another thing I really like Japan is the cleanliness is at least a few levels above many other countries, because of the self-discipline of their citizens. Many would agree that it is almost impossible to see rubbish on the streets. I feel the beauty of Japan largely credited to the cleanliness. Can we imagine if the Mount Fuji is full of rubbish?
I particularly like the autumn with many orange colour fallen leaves, and the small towns streets of Japan (the neon lights in big cities are OK for a very short while, and then it becomes bored with it). May Japan continue the culture of cleanliness and high discipline.
Japan is indeed a beautiful and amazing country to visit.I have not been to Japan before yet by looking at those beautiful images above i can imagine how its look for sure. Matsuzaki-cho,Kyogoku-cho and Nagiso-machi is the three places we should visit.
Thanks Rinpoche for sharing.https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/art-architecture/3-amazingly-attractive-villages-in-japan.html
Pictures of Japan are really amazing, Japanese people have so much pride and ownership into all they do.
I too love the cultures and traditions in Japan. They are unique in the sense that most of the people in every countries are transforming more towards modern western styles, but for the Japanese. They say that they would prefer to remain the same so that their culture and traditions will be able to stay unique. I am also very interested in the history of Japan, especially when it comes to samurai and ninjas. Haha
The views in these places are simply just picturesque, I will be going to Japan on this Saturday but sadly I won’t be going to these places. I would definitely visit the whole of Japan and learn every single bit about their culture if I have the time and money to do so because transportation in Japan is extremely expensive.
Oh well, at least I explore a part of the beautiful Japan. I have been very anxious about my trip to Japan. I am all set and ready to visit Japan. Japan, here I come!
Japan is indeed a very beautiful country, it’s landscapes and cultures are the things that most of us admire and would appreciate. My family and I are travelling to Japan next week, but unfortunately we are unable to visit these beautiful places due to time constrain as they are located very far away from Tokyo where our flight will be landing at. These places are beautiful especially the paddy fields in Matsuzaki-cho, the whole atmosphere is so serene and isolated in a good way, away from all the noises and contamination from the cities.
