Extraordinary House
(Built 1960)
This house is extra-ordinary. It was built on a very steep land that nobody wanted because it would have been very expensive to build on. So a clever guy with a small budget bought it and challenged John Lautner to build a house on it with …a budget. John Lautner recalls that man arriving in his office on day on a bicycle. The saving in cost is ALL in the savings for foundations, only one major column and everything else is light, and repetitive. The views are out-standing, and now, many years later it surrounded by beautiful tree canopies.

Tree House offers a stunning tree-top location from which to enjoy the tranquil views.
The brilliant architecture idea of John Lautner whose idea to build a property above ground level is already makes it to look extra ordinary.
The design it self speaks the creativity of the famous architect. This place would be people’s favourite choice especially as a hangout space or recreation park.
The amazing tree house provides privacy besides keeping us away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Its definitely the best choice for a nature lover !

John Lautner was an American was one of the most important American architects of the twentieth century. Wow …..his career spanned fifty-five years and left an indelible mark on the built environment of Southern California. Looking at the picture at this post tells all. Very extra-ordinary house built on a very steep land surrounded by beautiful tree canopies. Did google more about this man who built this building. He had designed more than fifty significant unique structures in Southern California alone. Over the years he had gained increasing recognition since, with exhibitions, publications, a documentary, and did appeared in numerous films, commercials, and other media. His legacy remains vulnerable till today.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing from Thierry Janssens
This house teaches us a great lesson. When there is any obstacles, we have to overcome it. When we overcome what seems to be impossible, we would create something that is beautiful, like the house. The house is so ingeniously built and it also represents how it is good to look outside of the box.
What an amazing way to build such a house in such harsh terrain. I would have never thought to build on the trees instead of chopping them down. What a clever and environmental way to build. The person who designed this lovely house must be extremely creative and did not think the way normal people think. He definitely had a stream of thought that is out of the box.
Oh my! What a dangerous slope! I don’t think i would dare live there because I am very much afraid of heights! and the tree house is just too high up! i shudder at the thought of waking up and possibly rolling down the slopes if i’m not too careful. lol..
Thank you for sharing, Rinpoche!
Nothing is impossible. Is all depend on do you want it badly. This is the same for the Kechara World Peace Centre, Kechara Forest Resort, do everyone think that we need it? Look at the house build on the sleep land and on the tree, have you ever think this can be done?
Wow! What a nice house! This housed is an example on how there are no boundaries when it comes to your imagination when you want to do something. If we put in effort, we can accomplish anything.
Wow, what an ingenious way to build a house in such a terrain. I would have never thought of that. The person who conceptualized this design and structure really thought out of the box. Even though it is lower in cost to built, the actual construction work of it is no less complex. This shows that nothing is impossible if we really put in the effort and passion to achieve something. If it is possible for something as mundane as building a house, why not do the same for our mind transformation? After all that is the only thing worth achieving as we can bring nothing else beyond our grave.
