The Queen Turns Red…
(By Tsem Rinpoche)
Dear everyone,
I have loved beautiful art both spiritual and secular since I was very young. I really like Tibetan Buddhist iconography. It is so meaningful and has tremendous blessings. Every part of their holy body, color, gesture, stance, expression of any Buddha statue represents a facet of the Enlightened mind…so viewing images plants powerful positive imprints within our mindstreams and awakens our latent mind of enlightenment. It plant seeds to come across the Buddha’s teachings to gain Enlightenment.
When I was growing up, wonderful statues of Vajra Yogini are very rare and even now they are extremely rare… I have been looking for Her images for years and save the ones I find appealing. Vajra Yogini is perfect, but I am talking about Her depictions are not always what I am looking for…I’ve always wanted to have a beautiful central image of Vajra Yogini close to me and for years really could not find what I liked…I like Vajra Yogini images that match the description in the scriptures. If it matches the scriptures, then the statue would be a great object of blessings and visual art.
I ordered this BEAUTIFUL 2.5ft image of Vajra Yogini from Kechara Discovery last year. They did such a great job. At first I didn’t want to paint Her..Just leave Her antique looking..I worked closely with the dept to make sure ever part of her matches the description in the scriptures. It took nearly a year to create this image you see here as I am a perfectionist. They emailed me back and forth as I explained them what needs to be changed, modified or improved. I gave the description of Vajra Yogini as it was explained to me over 30 years ago by His Eminence Kensur Lobsang Tharchin Rinpoche in Howell, New Jersey. I remember Rinpoche’s descriptions to me from back then. I shared this with Kechara Discovery.
The statue finished to my excited delight and I have several sizes of Vajra Yogini in my house in different areas of my house. I have a 1.5 feet, 2.5 feet, 5 feet and 8ft Vajra Yogini all done by Kechara Discovery. They did a very good job. I like it very much…
I decided to paint the 2.5 feet one…..The painting of Vajrayogini started on the 26th of February 2012. It took 6 days to paint Vajrayogini’s features in and her whole body red. It then took another day to lacquer… the lacquering really made her body shine and her features more pronounced. Lacquering also protects the paint from chipping easily especially if you wish to add ornaments. Ornaments can be abrasive if not lacquered. Well She is done. And we had the puja team from *Puja House arrange by Jamie to come and put mantras inside and do the consecration puja (Rabnye and soongdrop). After inserting mantras inside the holy body of any Buddha image Rabnye and Soongdroop pujas are very good to do. Soongdroop consecrates the mantras. Rabnye consecrates the image together with the mantras. Everything has been done perfectly all here in Malaysia by our Kechara team so Vajra Yogini is perfect. The statue, painting, mantras, ornaments, blessings are all done in house at Kechara. Anyone can call upon Kechara to do the same for their statues.
Now my Vajra Yogini has become a perfect object of worship, veneration, offerings and blessings. I AM SO FORTUNATE that I can view, be near and make offerings to Vajra Yogini who is the most powerful being in the Universe.
WHAT SIZE VAJRA YOGINI WOULD YOU LIKE IN YOUR HOUSE??? And why?? Let me know..
Tsem Rinpoche
Here She is halfway painted..
Fully painted..
After lacquering, the color comes out even more brilliant…remember, lacquer protects the paint.
Close up of Her glorious face.. a face that launches millions of practitioners to great bliss and enlightenment.
Now the Lady Buddha Vajra Yogini is on the sacred shrine…She is indeed beautiful and very holy…In my bedroom…P.S. On Her body are pearls sewn up by Kechara also…I had the pearls painted darker.

A sacred image of the rare form of Vajrayogini known as Ucheyma, the Buddha that shows us the path to eradicate the ego. For this and many other high-resolution images of the enlightened beings to download for free visit: https://bit.ly/2oxb4qU
Ucheyma (Severed Headed Vajrayogini) (Main figure)
(Top to bottom): H.H. the 7th Panchen Lama, Ucheyma (Severed Headed Vajrayogini), Vajra Varnani (green assistant), Vajra Vairocani (yellow assistant), Dorje Shugden and Citipati.
The central deity is known as Chinnamasta or Dorje Neljorma Ucheyma. Both Chinnamasta (Sanskrit) and Ucheyma (Tibetan) literally mean, ‘She Whose Head is Severed’. The meaning behind her form is to show practitioners that they need to completely remove the grasping and self-identification with the “I” or the ego. Generally, the identity of the self is strongly associated with our face more than any other part of our body. We usually recognise a person when we look at a person’s face. Hence, our self-identification or ego is strongly associated with our face. To show us that this self-identification needs to be overcome on the spiritual path to enlightenment, Vajrayogini uses her ritual chopper to decapitate herself. This is symbolic of her practice eradicating the ego.
The Severed Headed Vajrayogini, as she is also known, removes all afflictive mental constructs by removing the root cause – the identification of the self, the ego. We are either attached to or averse to people and circumstances because we have an ego to please, gratify and protect. But in the grander scheme of things, this self-identification with the ‘I’ is illusory and does not really exist. Therefore, Vajrayogini reveals this ultimate truth through the dramatic decapitation of her head and at the same time is still able to live and function. She is able to live due to her direct perception of emptiness and egolessness.
Contrary to what some people might think, the eradication of the self does not destroy individualism, our personality or make us into a mindless person. In fact, the eradication of the ego makes us become a vibrant and compassionate person, someone that has greater awareness of the suffering of others. In other words, we become much warmer, kinder, forgiving, tolerant, conscientious, generous, contemplative and we are become a joy to be with. The cutting of the ego or the ‘I’ brings us towards awakening our true self, the Buddha nature within.
The Severed Headed Vajrayogini has two dakini attendants. From the trunk of her neck, there are three severed blood vessels spurting three jets of blood that flow into the mouths of her own decapitated head that she carries in her left hand and into the mouths of her two attendants. Tsem Rinpoche explained that the three jets of blood represent that her practice purifies the three psychic poisons of ignorance, hatred and desire. In turn, this leads to the attainment of the three bodies of a Buddha – the emanation body, the enjoyment body and the truth body. In other words, the severance of the ego via her tantric path leads to the purification of all delusions and ultimately, the attainment of Buddhahood itself.
The 7th Panchen Lama, Palden Tenpai Nyima is featured floating above because of his compilation of sadhanas from the ancient Sadhanamala texts. This includes a particular sadhana or collection of prayers, visualisation and mantra focused on Ucheyma. Incidentally, Dorje Shugden in many of his previous lives was a lineage master of the Vajrayogini tantras as well. These previous lives include the likes of the Mahasiddha Naropa and Tsarchen Losel Gyatso. The Lord and Lady of the Charnel Ground, known as Citipati, are one of the main protectors of the Vajrayogini Tantra.
Last of all, the ascetic meditator engaging in his devotional practices towards Ucheyma in the cemetery represents the ideal environment for tantric practice because such environments invoke deep renunciation towards worldly affairs and attachments. All Buddhist traditions advocate meditating on the bones of the deceased because it reminds us of our mortality and hence, we develop revulsion towards the transient nature of worldly or ordinary existence.

Severed Headed Vajrayogini is surrounded by some of her other forms, including Naro Kacho, two forms of Maitri Kacho, Sukhasiddhi and Vajravarahi. These forms of Vajrayogini are more commonly practised compared to Severed Headed Vajrayogini and are prevalent in most Tibetan Buddhist lineages. Though they may look different, all forms are indivisible from her true nature and all her practices can lead practitioners to enlightenment. Naro Kacho arose from a vision beheld by the Mahasiddha Naropa, Maitri Kacho from a vision beheld by Maitripa, and Indra Kacho from a vision beheld by Indrabodhi. The Lord and Lady of the Charnel Ground, known as Citipati, are one of the main protectors of the Vajrayogini Tantra.
Last of all, Dorje Shugden is a protector with special affinity with Vajrayogini practitioners because he arose from an incarnation lineage that includes Naropa and Tsarchen Losel Gyatso who practised and proliferated her Tantra.

Vajrayogini (Main figure)
(Top to bottom): Naropa, Vajradharma, Hero Vajradharma, Naro Kacho, Maitri Kacho (Flying Vajrayogini), Dorje Shugden and Vajravarahi.
Vajrayogini is a female tantric Buddha and she has many forms that are derived from various lineages. She mainly embodies the fully enlightened female (shakti) aspect of a Buddha. She belongs to the Mother Tantra classification, which refers to her practice concentrating on the wisdom aspect of the path to Buddhahood. She is also the principal dakini, the compassionate female guides and nurturers of tantric meditation who lead practitioners to enlightenment. In the thangka, the main figure in the middle is Naro Kechari as she arose from the pure vision of the Mahasiddha Naropa.
In Anuttara (Highest) Yoga Tantra, principal dakinis normally appear in union with a male consort and this can be seen in the cases of deities such as Guhyasamaja, Hevajra, and Kalachakra. In the case of Vajrayogini, she is the principal female Buddha of the Chakrasamvara Tantra and therefore, she is normally in union with Heruka Chakrasamvara. Furthermore, Vajrayogini is also considered a Vajradakini, who are yidams or meditational deities in their own right. Their practices have evolved from the main practices of their consorts, simplifying the otherwise complicated original practice by reducing it to a single-deity meditation without sacrificing the main benefits and features of the original. Hence, Vajradakini practices such as Vajrayogini and Nairatmya are derived from the original Chakrasamvara Tantra and Hevajra Tantra respectively.
In essence, Vajrayogini is known as “Sarvabuddha-dakini” or the Dakini Who is the Essence of all Buddhas. Her mantra is known as the King of All Mantras as it has the most powerful ability to bless us with spiritual attainments even without any visualisation or meditation. There are 11 Yogas in the generation stage of her practice and a few which have the power of transforming ordinary actions like sleeping, waking and ordinary daily tasks into a collection of merits. Ultimately, her Tantra offers salvation for ordinary practitioners at death with her special promise of guiding practitioners towards Kechara, or the Paradise of the Dakinis, in which we can continue deep practices to become a Buddha without fear, obstacles and interruptions.
Within Vajrayogini practice, soliciting the blessings of the lama and the lineage master are of paramount importance in order for our practice to bear results. Hence, the lama is visualised as the red Vajradharma with arms crossed at the heart, holding the vajra and bell. The lineage masters are visualised as Hero Vajradharma, holding a damaru and skullcup while cradling a khatvanga. Aside from the main Naro Kechari form, Vajrayogini also appears in the form of Maitri Kechari, who is known as Flying Vajrayogini, and arose from the vision of Maitripa. Another common form is known as Indra Kechari, or Vajravarahi, who arose from the vision of Indrabodhi.
Last of all, Dorje Shugden is a Dharma protector with a special affinity with Vajrayogini practitioners. This is because he himself arose from an incarnation lineage that includes the likes of Naropa, the progenitor of Naro Kechari practice, and Tsarchen Losel Gyatso who had practised and proliferated her Tantra and is listed as one the lineage masters invoked upon every day by Vajrayogini practitioners.

The Dākiṇī with the Essence of all Buddhas, Vajrayoginī
Her practice includes methods to end the otherwise repetitive states of Bardo and rebirth, by transforming the process into a journey, which may lead to full enlightenment. In preparation for which, Vajrayoginī further offers the omnipresent ability to reconstruct the nature of the most, mundane everyday experiences, such that they may reveal higher destinations, via the spiritual paths she may choose to reveal. [1] Vajrayoginī being defined as, “The Dākiṇī who is the Essence of all Buddhas”, [2] is amplified by scholar Miranda Shaw when she implied that this deity is no less than, the supreme nature of the very Tantric pantheon. No male Buddha, including her divine consort, Heruka-Cakrasaṃvara, further advances her in metaphysical implications. [3]
Vajrayoginī’s sādhanā originates from India circa 10/12th C, [4] when summoned as Heruka-Cakrasaṃvara’s Yab-Yum consort [5], with later forms including Vajrayoginī as “Solitary Hero”, she may be visualized with the deep red complexion of a 16-year-old female, whose stance is nude amidst a blazing fire of pristine awareness and most exalted wisdom. Her head is adorned with a crown of five skulls and upon her forehead, the third eye of wisdom is set vertically (represented here by an auspicious jewel). She drapes a necklace of fifty dried human skulls and is depicted with her traditional vajra-handled knife in her right hand; with a blood filled kapala in her left, she drinks with upturned head while looking above, toward the pure realm of Khechara. This seemingly gruesome gesture is actually symbolic of her clear light in great joy, known as “mahasukha” (the great bliss), [6] [7] thus the blood she drinks may be offered to us all as if a fine wine.
Resting on the left shoulder is a Katvanga staff as she stands tall with her two feet, trampling the bodies of red Kalaratri and black Bhairava (with heads bending backward), representing the embodiment of illusion and ego-awareness. The composition, all of which rests above a sun disc and multicolored lotus pedestal, she is rendered here after a thankga of Naropa Tradition (passed down from a special teaching of the Indian Mahasiddha Naropa). Vajrayoginī herself may be classified as the personification of “Wisdom” or “Mother” and her practice originates with the Chakrasamvara Cycle of Tantras, which is one of the five principal tantric practices of the Sakya School, although found in one form or another, she is included in all schools of Tibetan Buddhism. [8]
Vajrayoginī also appears in versions from the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism, with one popular system having the practitioner visualize themselves as Vajrayoginī, as such, their guru taking the form of Milarepa. [9] Thus depicted above the central deity here we see Milarepa on our right, with his great Guru Marpa left (whose guru was Naropa himself, and other great Indian masters). [10]
Vajrayoginī is a simplified, single most form of the female Buddha, who is otherwise a collection of alternate forms. From her sādhanās she is visualized in English terms as “Vajra Sow”, “Wrathful Lady”, “Fierce Black One”, and other such similar manifestations of female energy found in numerous iconographic renderings and traditions. Each feature of Vajrayoginī’s visualization conveys important spiritual concept. For example, her three eyes indicate her ability to see all (past, present and future); her red-colored body symbolizes the blazing of her ”inner fire”, and the curved knife she wields, demonstrates the power to sever the delusions and obstacles of her followers and of all living beings. The current form of Naro Kacho Vajra Yogini appeared to the Indian Mahasiddha Naropa after he meditated intensely on her practice inside a cave. He beheld her glorious form in a vision. This unique form became known as Naropa’s Vajra Yogini or Naro Kacho, as it had never existed before. Later, in Tibet, His Holiness Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche also had visions of Vajra Yogini. His vision differed slightly from the vision of her that Naropa beheld. In the original Naro Kacho form, Vajra Yogini looks towards her pure land named Kechara. However in Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche’s vision, she looked straight at him, symbolic of the deity empowering him to bestow her practice to many people in order to benefit them. The practice of Vajra Yogini belongs to the Highest Yoga Tantra classification that leads to tremendous inner transformation and can even grant enlightenment within just one lifetime.

Vajra Yogini has many different forms and in each of these forms, the positioning of her sacred body, the various implements she holds and the expressions on her face have profound meaning into various aspects of enlightenment. The implements she holds, the expressions on her face, and her body symbolise specific aspects of enlightenment that suit people during a particular time and place according to their karma. So, therefore, Vajra Yogini’s pose, forms and emanations change over time in order to suit different karmically-connected practitioners. It will keep changing because enlightenment is fluid, compassionate and skilful. To gaze upon Vajra Yogini is to look at a complete ‘roadmap’ to enlightenment as every aspect of her body is a manifestation of enlightenment. Therefore to have her form, picture, painting or statue is very blessed. We should make offerings to her daily diligently.
After the great Mahasiddha Naropa had served his guru the Mahasiddha Tilopa for 12 years, Tilopa conferred the Vajra Varahi (another form of Vajra Yogini) initiation with full instructions unto Naropa. Then, Naropa diligently meditated on Vajra Varahi and had a vision of her, and when she appeared to him directly, she appeared in the form of Vajra Yogini. Normally, when he engaged in the Vajra Yogini (Vajravarahi) practice, she was in the form of facing him directly, holding a skull cup and a curved flaying knife in front of her heart. One leg was up and one leg was down as in a dancing pose. That was the form of Vajra Yogini that he had meditated on to gain the highest attainments.
After he had meditated on Vajra Varahi and gained visions of her, she appeared to him in a different form, with her face looking up at Kechara Paradise instead of facing him directly. Her left hand holding the skullcup was thrust in the air and her right hand holding the curved flaying knife, also known as a cemetery knife was facing down at sentient beings or samsara to help beings cut their bonds to suffering. Her left leg was bent, and her right extended while standing in a pose of looking towards Kechara Paradise like she is about to take off there. This form signifies she will take you there and out of suffering. That form of Vajra Yogini became special and that was called Naro Kacho or the Vajra Yogini of Naropa. This Naropa’s Vajra Yogini was initiated to the Nepalese Pamtingpa brothers and they meditated diligently and this tradition of Naropa’s Vajra Yogini just became prevalent and took off from there. Naropa started initiating his other disciples as well into this special form of Vajra Yogini and she became known as Naropa’s Vajra Yogini till this day and it is considered a highly blessed lineage. That is the lineage we have now and most prevalent.
She is looking up because this Naropa’s Vajra Yogini is indicating she will lead her practitioners to her Kechara Paradise within one lifetime if you are diligent in her practice. Realizing enlightenment is harder for people in today’s world and needs more time during Kaliyuga degenerate period, she leads you to her paradise where you can practice undisturbed to Buddha-hood.
In this brilliant artwork, what you see is the Mahasiddha Naropa having a direct vision of Vajra Yogini. It’s the first time she has appeared to Naropa in this form. This form is associated with Naropa. Prior to Naropa, this form of Vajra Yogini did not exist. She in this vision is initiating him into this form (Naro Kacho) of herself indicating this form will be most efficacious now according to our karmic period. In the background, you will see a cave with a light in it because when Naropa used to meditate in that cave, it is said that from his body would emit a light and people could see it from afar. You can also see animals surrounding Vajra Yogini, they can feel her compassion and her great blessings and they are at peace around her.
Vajra Yogini brings peace, love, compassion, wisdom and freedom to everyone who practices her incredibly powerful tantra. Therefore, this artwork is a very beautiful representation of the time when Naropa had a vision of Vajra Yogini in this form for the first time and it is now known as Naropa’s Vajra Yogini. This artwork was offered to me as a gift from a very talented artist. I deeply appreciate this piece of visual spirituality very much.

From Tsem Rinpoche: Every person who has Maha-anuttaratantra empowerments (Eg. Heruka, Guhyasamaja, Yamantaka, Vajra Yogini, Chittamani-Tara, Kalacakra, Hevajra, Gyalwa Gyatso Chenresig, etc) should keep a copy of this on their shrine or prayer book. These are all the ritual items tantric practitioner must keep by commitment. If it is in picture form, it is alright also.

Thanks Rinpoche for the sharing.
The Vajrayogini statue is stunning!!! Thanks to Rinpoche for introducing Vajrayogini to Kechara, and make the Vajrayogini available for us to invite, as the Vajrayogini images are really rare, even very difficult to find on internet.
Hope that all of the people in Kechara will be blessed by this powerful Vajrayogini.
Thanks
I am about half way through constructing my own VajraYogini, about five foot ten inches. With a partial Shri Chipati underneath her.
I would like to send you a picture upon completion. I just discovered your teachings here, thank you so much.
Bryan
I don’t know why I did not comment on this post! Okay painting this Vajrayogini has been an extreme honor..actually painting any of Rinpoche’s personal Buddha statues is an extreme honor but I love Vajrayogini, so this one is really quite special. I am glad and very fortunate to be able to do this to purify my karma and collect merits and create a connection with her!
Thank you Rinpoche for giving me this opportunity! I would not mind dying painting Rinpoche’s statues all my life!!!
What an incredibly beautiful Vajrayogini statue!
Joy did such a fantastic job with the painting work! She really has an artistic eye, hand and the blessed opportunity to have the close personal training under Rinpoche. She paints well, because of Rinpoche’s guidance.
If anyone wants a statue that they can trust has the correct iconography and is beautifully proportioned and designed – Kechara’s 5 outlets is really a paradise for Buddhist shoppers.
I’m not promoting it because I myself am from Kechara, but I honestly want to let others know where to get beautiful Buddha statues. Why not? Life’s too short, and I’m too poor to keep such places a secret in hope’s that I can one day invite all of the Buddha’s home! Hehe
Trust that Kechara has Buddha statues with the correct iconography. After all, we don’t want to be praying to a statue that we realize years after that Dzambala was never meant to be holding a noose, but a spitting mongoose! lol
The opportunity is there to invite home a beautiful Buddha statue of your choice, life’s too short to think twice about meritorious activities – SEIZE IT!

This Vajrayogini statue is very well-painted. Joy really did a good job. I have a Vajrayogini thangka which I love very much.
The painting on Vajrayogini are really stunning, she is one who leads us from suffering by tempting us, luring us which is why her practice is so effective and skillful!
I am the diamond maiden, the player of games
The yogini is one of my forms
Showing that I am beyond earthly attachment
I am the shining revelation to the ascetic
The women in silk and roses
I am the harlot in black net and leather,
who gives enjoyable punishment
I am the glass bead master,
creating universes of form
And a spark of me is in each bead,
for I dwell in karma.
I am the Trauma Goddess,
the Lady of Pain
In return for devotion
I pull thorns from the heart
In return for obedience
I untie the knots in the belly and the head
I hold the vajra,
which gives and receives
I reshape family karma.
The Trauma Goddess is called for people in painful situations
Where anger and hatred block the path of the soul
I evaluate the benefits of revenge
And give better suggestions for spiritual growth.
I am not suited to polite society
To social striving, upward mobility, and making good impressions
I am radically honest, sensitive, brilliant, and blunt
I hold up a mirror to the best and worst facets of human life.
The Lady of Trauma is the mirror of pain
I reflect the disastrous ways that human beings interact
Then the reflections are stretched and distorted
With irony, and humor, and sadness
Loosening their grip on the heart
So that the person who seeks freedom
Can get a taste of being free….

Vajrayogini here looks like she’s ready to dance any moment! Joy did such a wonderful job!
The Queen must be Red….

She is absolutely beautiful, stunning beyond words! I would love to have another Vajrayogini statue on my altar, as big as this one, but then I must have a bigger altar. May I build up the merits quickly to have her practice one day.
i prostrate at your lotus feet beautiful lady
i prostrate at your lotus feet
I remember 3 years ago when I was in Kechara Paradise Bangsar, I was thinking what statue to invite for many days. Rinpoche’s teachings on DVD was playing at that time and suddenly this sentence became so loud and clear “Everyone must have a Vajrayogini statue at home. It will creat the cause for us to do Her practice in the future.” I was like… Thank you for answering my question. I invited 1 and had James(in KSA then) painted my Vajrayogini red. He did a fabulous job! I was very happy. Now I buy pearl necklaces and bone malas to offer to her every time I come across beautiful ones. She is truly BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you Rinpoche for this beautiful sharing of Vajrayogini. I love Vajrayogini cos she is red & auspicious, also she is very beautiful & powerful. I just bought a Vajrayogini at 1 Utama Kechara Paradise after the Dharma talk by Sharon Saw on Sunday. May all who sees her get her blessings.
Thank you, Rinpoche for your sharing. I love Vajrayogini because she is so red, beautiful and powerful. I just bought one from 1 Utama Kechara Paradise after the dharma talk by Sharon Saw on Sunday. 🙂
I just cannot stop thinking about VY since i saw the photos on the blog yesterday. What a wonderful job KD and Joy did.She is beautiful , gorgeous and magnificant . One can ‘feel’ the compassion just by looking at her face esp her eyes ! I would dearly love to invite her to my home – doesn’t matter what size , doesn’t matter that my house is already overflowing with Buddhas at every wall , corner or nook . I am just plain greedy for Buddhas ! She just pulls at my heartstrings .
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing with us such a beautifully crafted and painted depiction of The Queen .
Oh it’s so beautiful!
This size of 2.5 feet is very nice. I didn’t know how to explain, this size present the iconography and the implements in a very “suitable” way for me.
Like sometimes we buy shoes, some design only nice for certain sizes. This size of Vajra Yogini is just perfect!!
Thanks for all the hard works from everyone. By making the statue itself already meritorious, and the completed statue could bless so many beings who have the karma to see her even just take one look to her.
May I learn more and one day the Queen will bring us to Kechara!
Dear Rinpoche,
Mmmmmm, i would like to have a 2 feet in size of VY, according to my house, this is the biggest size that can place it, hehehe = p The biggest size the best as VY have a lots and details on it, example the Dakini, Skull and etc. Love it ^^,
Now, THIS IS STUNNING!!! VY in RED!!! Veryyyyyyyy NICEEE!!! ^^,
Thank You Rinpoche to share such stunning picture ^^,
I think it was VY that brought me closer to Kechara. I used to volunteer in KSA in 2009 and it was just right before Gompa Opening, so Pat requested me to join her in making the pearl costume for the large VY statue in Gompa. I was so afraid when i first saw VY, but after some time i actually find her quite appealing.
I definitely would like to have a 2.5ft VY statue on my altar, have her painted red and gold antique finish. I will restructure Yves Saint Laurent’s Le Smoking women tuxedo for VY, using fabric, lace, embellished with pearls and precious stones. Until today, Le smoking is still the most enduring and powerful fashion creations. Why Le Smoking? because it was originally created for powerful women in the 60’s and it matches VY’s energy.
This red Queen of queens looks stunningly beautiful, mesmerizing and captivating. The colour of red seems to match her well, with the final glossy sheen of lacquer to complement her already perfect look! Congratulation to the team of people at Kechara for a perfect job well done. Many thanks also to Rinpoche for the sharing and the advice that, we don’t have to wait until you own a vajrayogini statue to make a connection with the Queen. Kechara, being the mamdala of Vajrayogini, doing and volunteering for Dharma work with Kechara is how we already made a connection with the three jewels, from whom we are gathering blessings and merits!
Gorgous Divine Mother!
Vajrayogini!
She looks stunning in red, she looks so powerful.
This Vajra Yogini is so beautiful! I remember when I first met Rinpoche in 2007, Rinpoche gave me VY tsatsa. Rinpochee said she is a Buddha. Rinpoche also explained why we should practice Vajra Yogini. I think this Buddha is extremely cool. The way she stand and she’s naked! I just fall in love with her. She’s just too special! I went home that night and i set up my mini altar immediately in my room which was only contained this tsatsa and 7 bowls of water offerings.
Thank you thank you thank you so much Rinpoche! I’m extremely excited and happy that I have the great fortunate to make offerings to The Red Vajra Vogini. By making offerings to Her will create the course for me to receive her practice in future from Rinpoche.
I too received a small but absolutely enchanting VY statue from Rinpoche shortly after I joined Kechara abt 7 years ago.I knew nothing about her. Although I did not develop instant love , I soon started to bedeck her with semi precious gems as I learn more and more of her iconography and symbolism which reveals the 5 Mahayana Paths and two stages of Tantra. Simply AWESOME. She has now grown to 18 “of pure wisdom energy and stands majestically on my altar. It is in brass/copper antique colour .I am considering getting it painted like Rinpoche’s example here.I always want my statues to be in the colour I am supposed to visualize them.
This Vajrayogini statue is stunning! Thank you for sharing the photos here. I would love to have one like this… or bigger (preferably bigger! Yes i’m greedy!) The face of this Vajrayogini is very beautiful… though she looks like she’s smiling rather than the usual more wrathful look.. i would love to have Vajrayogini in my living room so she can bless everyone who visits…
Dear Rinpoche,
This holy VY is really breath taking. I like her when she was antique finishing, but I like her even more when she’s on her new burning fire red.
The statue is perfectly made, hence no matter she is in red or antique, she is still stunning. Kechara Discovery really did a very very good job on her.
Agreed with BK she look a bit “odd” from my perception of how a Buddha should look like. I never seen any Buddha statue which is totally “naked” before Kechara. She will not care how we “human” look at her.
I don’t not understand her iconography, or I have no merits to receive this most holy and secret initiation, but to look at her now, makes me feel she is so powerful.
If I have a chance to own her, I would like to have her in 2ft or 2.5ft height. This is a perfect size from my house’s altar. I will painted her in traditional gold face with a lot of traditional Jewels offering.
Thanks again for sharing this.
Dear Rinpoche,
Thank you for giving us all a close up glimpse of such magnificence and power! Before coming to Kechara, I have never heard of Vajrayogini let alone see the statue. I guess pre Kechara, I would feel intimidated because she exudes so much fear and power. Now that I am in Kechara after many talks and explanation on the iconographies of VY, I begin to understand why she was naked, why she has fangs, why her hands are in that particular position etc, I want to create the cause to receive her practice.
Having had a tiny hand in prepping and ‘sprucing’ her up for our gompa, I used to look at her for long periods wondering why this, why that? I still do not have all the answers to my why’s and therefore very curious to know as much as I can thus even to the point of wanting to receive her practice.
Because of her magnificence, I would have her life sized and all by herself on an altar of polished marble or granite befitting her stature coupled with receiving her practice will top everything!
Entrancing, Enthralling, Bewitched!
First look – Bang! The ‘entrance’ impact upon sighting of Her GORGEOUS RED body…
Then – WOW WOW WOW… helplessly captivated by her magically beautiful form in the photos…
The killer punch – Her face! Totally spellbound… hypnotised by Her piercing eyes!
This is the most beautiful Vajra Yogini statue I ever set my eyes on… beyond compare.
If I can have my way, I would wish for a beautiful 2-feet Vajra Yogini statue… hehe… How Greedy of me! Actually I very happy with my 6″ VY statue for now… no complain 🙂
So beautiful! Thank you Rinpoche, for sharing with us this holy image of Vajrayogini, Rinpoche’s very own VY.
Vajrayogini is by herself magnificent… and Joy managed to help us visualize VY’s magnificent qualities through art. Thank you for the excellent painting of VY. Now everyone that looks at an image of Rinpoche’s VY will be tremendously blessed as they will admire her beauty.
Gosh, I am just speechless when I see this 2.5 ft vajrayogini, specially ordered to the exact description as per Rinpoche’s instruction and painted sensually red.
Joy, You did a terrific job, this “red” indeed is the perfect red of all. The features were painted absolutely stunning.
When Rinpoche first introduced VY to a few of us a long time ago, what caught me was why was this female buddha naked? she looked very alluring and sensual. Rinpoche explained Buddha already thought of the degenerated age, the energy that prevails people now is all about desire, lust and attachment, topped with anger and hatred.Vajrayogini is specially manifested for this time and age to capture these types of energies and transform them into wisdom and compassion.
Her tantra is the most powerful at this age, and the more you get to know her, the more you will be fascinated by her, like you are going to fall in love with the “lady in red”……
Personally, I find this size of 2.5 ft a perfect size on almost any altar. I would place her on a natural stone altar, with a spot light shinning from the ceiling onto her beautiful body, surrended with silver water offering bowls and candles………
She is so beautiful!!The lady in red.Tremendous blessings just by gazing at her.Thank you Rinpoche for sharing these pictures of your altar and Vajrayogini.
discipling amazing
Practice and meditate mind training:
The sole remedy alleviating unwanted sufferings,
The main object of cultivation
Of really awe-inspiring retreaters,
The path traveled by the great meditators of the three times,
You need a happy mind, a conscientious mind,
An open mind.
Especially you must cultivate the precept
Of transforming bad circumstances–
The experience of unwanted sufferings–
Into the path.
Take into your heart the sufferings
Of mother sentient beings
And again and again give away your merit
And happiness to them.
Transform the ripening results
Within the beings and the environment
And unfavorable circumstances
Into a pathway leading to enlightenment.
Live contemplating just this–mind training
My mind has found peace through these and the other advices of my heart-jewel, spiritual brother. I request you, Venerable Jampa Wangdu, to be my Dharma friend all of my life.
In order that my three doors may never be separated from the holy path, I will ever hold fast to the greatness of mind training. The five degenerations are flourishing and the Dharmas of hearing, thinking, and meditating have become the causes of ignorance, hatred, and attachment to this life. It is very rare to make these leisures and endowments meaningful through the practice of the five powers, the essence of all Dharmas. We two and all mother sentient beings, although desiring happiness, are confused about the means of finding it and thus are continually tortured by the three sufferings. Seeing this, may we generate the realization of the equality of self and others.
It has been forty-one days since I become ill. The condition of my body is such that I have become the lord of a cemetery; my mind is like that of an anti-god and my speech like the barking of an old, mad dog. I still take sixteen pills a day and because I must depend upon others for moving about and sleeping, and because my hand shakes when I write, read my letter depending upon the meanings intended and not upon the mere words written.
Translated by Gelong Jampa Gendun and Gelong Lobsang Jordan
it was really beautiful that this varjayogini in red colour, hope that one day will have 1 on my family altar……ths Rinpoche for sharing with us.
i want i want…….
Beautiful Buddhas on a beautiful sacred shrine,i feel so blessed just by admiring at Her glorious face thanks for sharing.
When I first saw VY about 2 years back, I find her a bit fierce and do not feel much connection with her.
Over time, i learned more and more about her. I started to like her when I saw the photo taken by Bryan from Nepal Ladrang. Then, I put that photo as one of my wall paper since then.
There was once when Rinpoche shared that VY is the yidam that all of us shd follow. She will help us to get enlightened soonest and then we can help more ppl. I started to inspire to be with her and get her initiation. I feel more connected to her too.
Now I when I saw the Queen in red, I just love it. Esp on the close up on her face, I just have the feeling that she is smiling at me compassionately. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing.
I would to have her on my altar be it big or small as I know she will bless me and all around me.
Dear Rinpoche,
Wow! Your VY statue is so captivating.Thank you Rinpoche for letting us all have a look at your holy VY.I remember reading in one of your article, you first met VY in Kensur Rinpoche Lobsang Tharchin’s room in RGL. I guess this is like a personal altar and not for all to gaze at. One day I aspire to have a 2.5 feet Vajra Yogini in my house too. I will put her in a private room, and have an active altar dedicated to this holy lady.
This VY statue looks very glorious and stunning! How fortunate for us to be able to see her image and furthermore can get to see Rinpoche’s personal statue. We are very blessed to be here in Malaysia to have our guru here to guide us and also Kechara Discovery who produces these amazing statues for us.
Om mani padme hum.
Feel so fortunate can view this most powerful lady in the Universe- Vajra Yogini, especially cant move my eyes on VJ face, so gorgeous…I always like ‘Red’ color Buddha like Setrap;P…I love red, so if have VJ statue, i would like the statue in Red color ( ang ang bo hai lang -hokkien,haha ), deco and offer with lot of pearls…1.5ft – 2ft statue just nice to place on my altar, so that i can do prayer everyday in front of VJ,receive blessing and create the cause to always connect with this amazing VJ. And the small animals / insects tat always like to ‘shopping’ and find ‘grave’ around my altar can receive the blessing from powerful Varja Yogini, may them have a good rebirth in the future.
My 1st and only VJ statue, is a small green tsa-tsa that give by Ms.Han from KIM, thank you and I Love it too^^
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this precious and beautiful VJ statue photo for us receiving blessing even by viewing. Thanks ya^^
dear rinpoche, i really wish to have a medium size Vajrayogini that her body is wearing a white pearl dress and her face is paint into golden colour. I will offer a lot of pearl and jewels to her.
The first time I set my eyes on the “Red Queen” was many years ago in the bedroom of a friend. It frightened the daylight out of me! “Why Buddha looked like that?” I began to get to know more about her after Rinpoche kindly explained about her significance.
Thank you Rinpoche for bring this holy & sacred Buddha to us. Kudos to Kechara Discovery & Joy for a job well done. Thank you
She is beautiful, I like it very much when she is in red. With her shining red body, She’s calling for attention. I would like to start with a 2.5 feet VY just like the one Rinpoche has and I will paint it red, and then decorate her with some precious stones.
We have an 18″ Gold VY at home. She is fabulous and offered with some swarovski crystals. It was love at first sight when we saw her at Kechara Paradise outlet in SS2 (old one)!!!
She was in a glass cabinet and though there were a few others there, this one just said “take me” “take me”.
Time to get a larger image of the Crimson Lady…
I was skeptical at first about it being painted red as I really like the bronze antique look similar to the Gompa. However seeing it for real in the red is just surreal! She looks soooooo life like and gorgeous! I would certainly love to have one exactly like it one day… perhaps even larger!
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing these wonderful pictures for all to be blessed by her visage!
I’m awed to see these sacred picture of the Queen. Gosh, it is so beautiful and I’m really touched to see her. If I’m getting her statue for our home, I’ll want a 2.5″ one and place it on an altar next to my mum’s. So everyone get to see her first thing when they come in from the front door and be blessed. Besides, all other beings who are sharing the same space will not miss her when they come to our home. She is just so gorgeous, and it is beyond words.
Thank to Rinpoche to share this stunning diamond queen buddha. KD & Joy did a very great job. I think 2~2.5 ft are just nice for me to invite one at home. And i will prefer either in the antique looking or second the red look (much more alive). What a blessing to see her at this age.
I had this conversation with Rinpoche just last night. I said how wonderful if I have a space to set up a Vajra Yogini altar, and I told him how am going to decorate it. He said “Wonderful”! It creates the causes to connect with the queen herself. If we have the fortune and merits to receive her practice, it’ll be easier to understand her text etc.
Rinpoche gave further advise, you don’t have to wait until you own your statue only start doing that. In fact, making offerings, cleaning the temple, even volunteering doing dharma work is how we make a connection to the three jewels. Because Kechara is the mandala of Vajra Yogini, Tsongkhapa, whoever you feel most connected to. So make as much as offerings, offer dharma work and think strongly you are serving the three jewels and you will gain the blessings and merits to connect with Tsongkhapa and Vajra Yogini practice.
So, get set and rush to Gompa and be greedy for merits! whats are you waiting for?
That is indeed a beautiful shrine in your room. I’m glad you decided to paint it. It looks more life-like. You definitely have a talented artist.
If I were to have a Vajrayogini statue, it would be an 8 inch statue to go with my Manjushri statue on my shrine in my living room. I should post a picture of my shrine someday. It’s not much but it looks beautiful.
She is stunning! Afew years ago, I was in Nepal for a buying trip and we brought a similar statue (all painted like this too). It was very very veeeeery expensive. Now thanks to Kechara Discovery hardwork and objective to make sure practitioners can have beautiful statues for worship and Joy’s incredible workmanship, now more people can have this stunning Vajrayogini. Trust me, Joy’s painting is as good as what the Nepalese claim to be the best.
The Queen on the sacred altar is really amazing. If i had a chance, one day I would also hope to invite an exact replica of this for my home. The face feature is amazing, wrathful yet compassionate. And some emotion is stirring inside the moment I saw this statue.
I always love the original red colour, for it always depicts control and power.
And to your question, if given the chance, the preferred size of the VY would be 6-8 inches, with red body, complete face feature and a antique pearl skirt. I had grew more love for VJ after reading an article on the internet on the iconography and how the practice is very suitable and beneficial for modern time during this degenerating age.
Thanks for the sharing Rinpoche.
The red vajra yogini is so outstanding and stunning. Especially after lacquering, her glorious side appear even more beautiful. She is a Buddha that everyone want to create a cause to be with her or go to her paradise later.
I would just get a very small thangka of this fierce goddess. I barely have enough room for an altar at my new place, but if she appeared on a thangka, it would be very easy to hang her up for her imprints to planted on the minds of all the people who would happen to see her blissful figure.
Dear Rinpoche
I want it in my house and my bedroom 🙂 together with my protector statue 🙂
Valentina
This is so stunning and attractive. Joy really done a great job!
I like VY gorgeous face, i have a VY thangkha hanging on my room, I would love to have a VY statue exactly same size, same finishing, I want to BRING VAJRA YOGINI HOME too …
why????just because we can’t expect flowers and fruit without planting the seed….
I love the red. And the lacquered finish makes it perfect. I normally choose antique finishing but this time I am completely taken away by the red and lacquer. Now that Vajrayogini is finished, I do recall one evening while I was sitting with Rinpoche he chose this shade of red. Now, I know for what.
I would love this same size and the same finishing. Blazing red! Liked a siren. She is a siren. And I will place her on my personal altar with my protector and Tsongkhapa.
Great job Paul of Kechara Discovery and Joy!
Excellent done, the painting of Vajra Yogini, I love the dark pearls. The total is beautiful !
If I could have a Vajra Yogini myself it would be a small one. Although I realize that the smaller they are, the more difficult it is to get a beautiful one. Making buddha’s small, then is more difficult to get a nice face. I admire artists who can do it.
Thank you for sharing.
OMG!!! It’s so pretty!!! So red!!! Would love to have VY in my house. Will place Her on my bedroom, so to see Her every time when going to bed before resting 🙂 btw red is one of favourite colour cheers
The Vy statue is so Beautiful, the face and the body features and the art works make the statue look so Real and like alive. Love it so much. ( Rm5 per day saving plan + special item offer by Rinpoche )
INTERESTING… !! 🙂
Much Thanks to Rinpoche for sharing.
Wow Rinpoche, she looks amazing.
Really amazing Rinpoche! Thanks for sharing. May her blessings pour like rain in all who see her.
Dear Rinpoche,
If I had to choose I would want the smallest size, as my alter is very small. The reason behind me wanting a statue is not for myself, but for others. In my opinion if I make offerings to any buddha or bodhisattva, that in turn helps others to be inspired to do dharma or learn more about it. It plants the karmic seeds for them (either in this life or the next one) to know and implement the dharma. Doing it this way, I am not only benefiting myself, but more importantly others as well!
If only everyone saw how much care Joy put into painting the statue…well I guess they can see it now, in the completed work! She is absolutely beautiful Rinpoche, and the statue actually is the perfect size. I think it’s quite unusual being 2.5ft but it’s neither too big nor too small, and you can see her features perfectly.
Dear Rinpoche, I love the picture of Buddha Vajrayogini’s face very much. Her face is so elegant, captivating and beautiful 😀
This is exquisite. All the hairs on my body stood up when I saw her, especially the photo with a close up of her face. I have seen many Vajrayogini images since I joined Kechara. The first one was Rinpoche’s original statue from Bodhgaya during my very first audience with Rinpoche over 3 years ago. (this one right here: http://blog.tsemtulku.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/me/bodhi-tree-vajra-yogini.html)
Back then, I had no idea who she was and I wasnt really attracted to her form. In fact, I thought she looked odd for a Buddha, as she looked nothing like one. Over time, I learned more and more about her, and received many gifts from Rinpoche that featured her. Including various posters, statues, tsa tsas, pendants etc. Looking back, I was quite lucky really.
As I learned more, I found out she is the most powerful Buddha of our time. I learned that Rinpoche came from a rare lineage of Vajrayogini descended from Pabongka Rinpoche. I learned that instead of the usual 14 lifetimes, if we received Vajrayogini from Tsem Rinpoche and did her practice well, we could ascend to Kechara Paradise within 7 lifetimes. I learned more about her iconography, mudras, implements, etc. I began to fall in love with her.
She is now my favourite Buddha. And this statue, color, size, everything is perfect and is exactly how I imagine her to be. One of my most favourite Vajrayogini images is a reproduction of a Vajrayogini thangka belonging to Trijang Rinpoche. And this looks just like it. Wonderful and fantastic.
Wow! Thank you Rinpoche for showing your personal altar, very beautiful, simple and elegant.
I like the 5ft one, very human size especially decorated as this

http://www.hamburg-startups.de/auser-der-reihe-kindness-boomerang/
In reference: WHAT SIZE VAJRA YOGINI WOULD YOU LIKE IN YOUR HOUSE??? And why?? Let me know..
I would like to have a small one so that I can bring with me as I wish and be able to practice with her anywhere.
Dear Rinpoche,
I love the “face” Of this VY !! Very captivating , mesmerizing !! Magnificent work !!
Based on my altar size , the 11/2 ft statue is perfect (which I currently have 🙂 . Love all VYs !
Wow! She is indeed so beautiful!! Congrats to all who helped in the process.. pinting, putting on the ornaments, etc…
But why Joy does not look too happy?? 🙂
Joy is NOT HAPPY because her “project” has ended….Hehehehe. She is looking forward to more DHARMA assignments.
Joy did a really good job painting the Vajrayogini. She looks absolutely stunning. Joy tried out several different shades of red, found the right one, and then finished it off with a final glossy sheen of lacquer. Rinpoche has said that this is the perfect shade of red, exactly as described in the scriptures, and should be a color to remember for our own statues. She looks so much more alive now in red. Personally, I prefer her without the jewellery – the look is so much more primal, raw, powerful and the red is all the more outstanding!
The Queen is beautifully stunning!Thank you, Rinpoche, for sharing.
this 2.5 feet is perfect size for many ppl homes. cos its just the right size…. really detail and powerful colors. love it ! i have a really small one that won through a contest last year
Wow, the powerful Queen VY is so beautiful in red… Wonderful paint..
The Queen is stunning!!!! Very beautiful!! Thank you Rinpoche for sharing 🙂
这佛像加上颜色,让所有的icon更加特出!非常庄严!
Beautiful! So captivating. I’d love to have the image of her in my room and receive her blessings everyday.
Rinpoche!
Dear Rinpoche, i love the orange-red on VY’s statue!
VY in red is more than the word gorgeous!!
