Tsem Rinpoche cares for animals
Tsem Rinpoche just sent this short teaching to some of us. I wanted to share it here so you have a glimpse into how Rinpoche thinks. In the midst of everything Rinpoche coordinates, organises, teaches and promotes, Rinpoche still has the care and time to think of the creatures everyone else often overlooks. Rinpoche’s care for all sentient beings is genuine, real and pervasive.

Please make sure the bird seed containers are full in front and back of Ladrang here daily.
Recite mantras on the bird seeds daily with the wish all the animals including birds, squirrels, insects who partake of these may take eventual rebirth to practice dharma in the presence of a Buddha, any Buddha and even Vajra Yogini. That their countless rounds of births will be the beginning of the end by the compassionate breath that carries your mantra onto the seeds they will ingest, bless and fill their bodies.
Have a motivation to benefit others daily and cultivate this until it is effortless because without it, you are just as doomed as the animals you attempt to bless via the seeds.
So generate this mind and be mindful of it and make it grow, become firm and a part of you. Don’t make this future tense, but now because the future is dark, bleak and may not come. Death is such a being that ruins everything and he surprises us with his presence always. So we have to be aware of him and at the same time be motivated by him. All futures in samsara is dark and bleak.
Not even a little bird is to be abandoned by our efforts daily. Someone blessed you and that is why you have met the dharma…Bless others by the power of mantra and compassion.

Not only does Rinpoche ask his students to care for the animals, but Rinpoche leads by example. In his car, Rinpoche carries food for stray animals and often stops to rescue injured, sick, abanadoned or abused creatures. Here are some more inspiring examples of the assistance Rinpoche has given to animals in the past:

Rinpoche’s compassion, kindness, caring, loving and down to earth nature, will go all the way reaching out to all living beings. May it be an animals or human beings Rinpoche will be kind . Giving foods to them and making sure all are well feed without going hungry. Rinpoche is truly a Bodhisattva , an inspiring example for us. Thank you Rinpoche for showing us the way.
Thank you Pastor Khong Jean Ai for this sharing.
I learned that i must be nice to animals. All of us must be compassionate towards other beings.
Rinpoche very compassionate specially towards animals because they can’t talk or ask for help. I have been with Rinpoche for many years , I seen Rinpoche saved hundred of animals… thank you Rinpoche showing and teaching us many ways…
It is undeniable that we very similar to others who are not enlightened, we have the opportunity to be transcend our current mundaness the opportunity is in our hands.
Tsem Rinpoche treats every sentient being equally, Rinpoche compassion encompass all, from homeless to the stray animals Rinpoche always on the look out and provide care for all.
we always hear people ask others to love animal, care for animals but we seldom see the actions of those, but Rinpoche walks the talks and is an inspiration and example for us.
Rinpoche never fails to help people who are in need, let’s not talk about the animals who can’t express or tell us what they need. Rinpoche doesn’t only gives instructions to his students, but He also walks the talk, Rinpoche sets up a good example for all of us. For a person to care so much for the animals, it shows that the person is very compassionate. When a person calls him/herself an animal lover, he or she will then be kind enough to become a vegetarian or even a vegan, go all the way with saving the animals and doesn’t give up just like that. Rinpoche is a really good example, we should practise it and apply it into our daily lives. When everybody does their part, together we can make a big change. Animals are living beings as well, they are also a part of this world, if we didn’t help them, then no one will.
Rinpoche you are so kind, by seeing what you done for all the sentient beings always remind me to be good to everyone. Human has freedom to choose what kind of lifestyle they want to live with, we can choose if we want to be happy, but some of the animals can not, they are poor as they do have feeling but they can not choose how to live their life. As human being, we really should show our compassion to them. Thanks Guru for doing this not only to them but also your students by reminding us.
Like a Bodhisattva, Rinpoche’s actions always display wisdom, generosity and other far reaching attitudes as a suppreme teaching for all students and practioners. With a deep compassionate concern for all beings, particularly animals, Rinpoche will always hold these beings more closer and dear to his heart. Without these attitudes being defiled by the stains of our eight worldly concerns, we should adopt, follow and earnestly practise them as a teachings from our precious Guru to tame our disturbing unsubdued mind and Karma. Thank you, kind Guru for the sharing. Om Mani Padme Hung.
Rinpoche is a very compassionate, kind and caring Guru. Rinpoche treats all animals like human beings, he always adopt animals who are mostly unwanted because to Rinpoche, looks doesn’t matter. You might be pretty and handsome or ugly but Rinpoche will still treat you like everybody else. Rinpoche always care for me like a loving father even though I’m extremely naughty and lazy. If my family never met Rinpoche, I don’t think I will even be here sitting here on this comfortable chair reading this article and writing this comment. Rinpoche taught me that whenever I do my prayers, I must dedicate the merits to the beings from the three lower realms so that in their future lifetimes, they will be able to have the merits to learn the Dharma.
Thank you Pastor Khong Jean Ai for the sharing. We must have a motivation to benefit others daily and cultivate this until it is effortless. Thank you Rinpoche for showing us how to do this.
Dear Admin,
Thank you for sharing this post.
Will definitely follow Rinpoche’s advice till a point it is effortless 🙂
No matter animal or human, Rinpoche never fails to show tremendous care to anyone/and living being that crosses paths with Rinpoche.
Be it a homeless person on the streets or a injured animal found by the road, Rinpoche never fails to try and do his very best to make sure that at the very least, the homeless person on the street has some food to eat, some money to last a few days and etc.
For Rinpoche’s enormous love for animals, I have personally witnessed countless of injured, sick, abandoned or abused birds and animals that have been saved thanks to Rinpoche’s care and blessings towards the birds.
For us ordinary human beings who don’t usually go to such extent, the above advice from Rinpoche should be at the very least what we should do whenever we place bird feeders or bowls for feeding stray dogs, we should pray that they have a rebirth that will bring them close to the Buddha’s.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this with us.
Dear Rinpoche,
This is so compassionate act which i used to think negligible. Thank you for showing us the path, so many sentient beings would be blessed because of you. _/\_
A small gesture of compassion like reciting and blowing mantras daily on the bird feeds can actually be very beneficial for our practice, as well as benefiting all the creatures too.
‘Have a motivation to benefit others daily and cultivate this until it is effortless’. This is a very much like asking us to have good motivation everyday until we have generated the genuine and altruistic motivation to benefit others. Thanks for sharing this , Pastor Khong.
